that's [Applause] a oh my God oh my God on September 16th 2022 in Platville Colorado a chilling 911 call comes in a woman in a silver Toyota Tundra is reportedly tailgating another vehicle and brandishing a handgun Platville police Sergeant Pablo Vasquez quickly locates the truck and pulls over 20-year-old yureni Rios Gonzalez but what unfolds next is a shocking display of recklessness that defies comprehension Rios Gonzalez stops her vehicle just beyond a railroad crossing leaving Vasquez patrol car Park directly on the train tracks moments later handcuffed and helpless Rios Gonzalez is placed into that same vehicle by Fort Lupton police officer Jordan stiny what happens next will leave you in disbelief from dash cam to body cam footage this video captures every harrowing second of the channel [Applause] [Applause] it took her a long time to pull over I got a holster right here on the passenger seat okay I just it took her a very long time to pull over just it took her a very have because when I was behind her she was driving slow enough yeah so she could have tossed something but I lit toss it out the window she could have out that window but who is that heart no that's uh tomack oh my God oh my God move your car stay back6 patrol car just hit by a train this for stand us medical emergent the suspect was in the vehicle that was hit by the train [Applause] [Applause] watch the [Music] fence there may still be a firearm in the vehicle I don't know if you guys have been through it yet you got it I got a holster here no we have not gone through we weren't we weren't sure if she threw it or if it's still hidden in the vehicle somewhere it took her a long time to pull over and Platville said he did not see anything leave the vehicle right now I just need to find out who she is so we can deal with that aspect of it there's a lot to break down in this case especially regarding the criminal charges while officers were clearing the suspect vehicle a Northbound train struck the PPD patrol car with yareni Rios Gonzalez trapped inside body cam footage captured the Train's approach horns blaring just over a minute after uren was placed in the car unable to escape she must have been terrified thinking this was the end miraculously uren survived the V violent Collision but suffered severe injuries including nine broken ribs a fractured sternum and multiple fractures to her limbs head and back EMS quickly arrived and rushed her to the hospital for life-saving care the footage then shows the Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Colorado State Patrol arriving to investigate we'll dive into the charges filed against uren Officer Vasquez and officer stiny along with the outcomes but first let's hear how the officers respond responded when questioned immediately after the crash Sergeant how are [Applause] you um what happened was uh L got a call County man how you doing man how you the the the guy was following her the two conductor stuff so then they got into our jurisdiction wow so I turned on the lights conductor s yeah there there two right right way back before then they like what do you need I'm like this is where she stopped this is her car right here this is exactly where she stopped I missed the F stop missed the F and stopes me off however I was focused on her because yeah exactly I so then um what happened after that was one of the left an officer said you know I'll be on your left on your right side so she's on the right side I started giving her commands she came out of the car so she complained with everything um I did tell her to put her phone down she comped we we cuffed her mhm and um I didn't think the left officer was going to put her in my car I just didn't and she did she put her in my car so what the left officer put her in the uh female officer left I don't know she's still here she's still here she cuz her car was right her car was right there that's there was right there no it was in front of that car in front of that car yeah that's where her car was she maybe it's that one on down there I don't know there was nobody in there so I know they were blocking off that okay did you get her name was it uh younger girl yeah I think I think I know her name uh it's something like that yeah i' I've seen her around here before but so she put her in your car yes and I I 62 so then now once she's I I didn't know she was in my car because I remember when when the hit when the train hit I said was she in my car said my go I didn't know that she was in my car anyhow she was she was put in my car um we cleared the truck and then we cleared the back and then as it was clearer we just started going back and then the the M offic with the glasses train train train and then I hear that I hear that and then I start moving this way and you're not injured right you weren't anywhere near anything like that my uh my blood pressure's up a little bit but that's it's just because I think that's the best you could have had out of that so I think I just you know it's just because I it's not she was in there you know but you know the the one good thing is the female officer put her that's my chief calling me um put her on the wrong side which was saving because if she would have put her where the prin on the on the on the passenger side okay so she put them she put them over there okay do you have name your custody at all um Bailey Bailey's got it should be getting or one of them talk to your Chief and then like I don't want to move anything yet uh gra my okay that'd be awesome then at least I get I got m uren Rios Gonzalez was released from the hospital just days after the incident but faced a long road to recovery she was bedridden for weeks unable to move much and later discovered she had an additional fractured leg that went unnoticed initially eventually Rios Gonzalez was charged with felony menacing adding to the complexity of this case Officer Vasquez and officer stina were placed on administrative leave following the incident Officer Vasquez faced multiple misdemeanor charges including reckless endangerment and careless driving while officer steiny faced more serious charges including attempted manslaughter and second-degree assault by December 2022 Vasquez was fired and Rios Gonzalez filed a lawsuit against the officers in their departments the legal battles that followed were lengthy steiny pleaded not guilty in March 2023 and by June Rios Gonzalez pleaded no contest to misdemeanor menacing receiving a one-year deferred sentence in July stiny was found guilty of reckless endangerment and third degree assault but was acquitted of the more severe attempted manslaughter charge she was ultimately sentenced to 30 months of supervised probation and was fired shortly after vas Keys pleaded guilty in December 2023 to reckless endangerment receiving oneyear probation after which his charge would be dismissed and sealed finally in June 2024 the cities involved settled the civil law law suit awarding yareni Rios Gonzalez $8.5 million for the night she nearly lost her life due to two officers negligence thank you for watching this
