You'll be aware of the protection order >> and you'll know not to go back there. >> Yeah. I didn't know order until after I got there and she told me that they were >> and then she allowed you to continue live there. But look, the the first thing is just to come off. Did >> you guys pull up your car? >> Good job, guys. No, we were told to pull it in the back. >> Hey everyone, it's Trent, prior deputy sheriff, patrol sergeant, and canine handler. This is an extremely dangerous situation for this victim to be in. And if he were to get away from these officers, he could potentially return to the victim's residence at a later time. But it's also dangerous for these officers because when it comes to these types of suspects who show their willingness to be violent and evade arrest, they can be incredibly unpredictable and potentially commit additional acts of violence out of desperation due to fear of going to jail. And this is a great example of why K9 units are extremely valuable, not only for tracking purposes, but in my experience, a lot of suspects in these situations will not have a fear of pepper spray, the taser, the baton, and will still be willing to fight or evade capture from law enforcement. But when it comes to seeing a canine or hearing a canine bark, a lot of these same suspects will automatically give up due to fear of getting bit by a dog. And in certain circumstances, it's more beneficial for law enforcement to take their time to deescalate a situation and to talk a suspect out of a hiding position rather than use force, potentially causing injury to themselves or the suspect, especially if they can avoid it. He was charged with domestic violence, strangulation, assault on a peace officer, burglary, and motor vehicle theft, but remains innocent until proven guilty in court.
