So, what's going on today? >> I just pulled in and, you know, I thought they were being abducted or something and they were screaming and the kids were hysterical. >> When police received a report of a possible abduction of three young children inside a store, multiple officers were quickly dispatched to [music] take control of the situation. But, upon arriving at the scene, they'd soon realize the situation was far more serious than they had anticipated. >> And I'm like, "Honey, is everything okay?" to the 8-year-old boy and he's like, "She's drunk. She's drinking and my baby brother's in the back seat. There's an infant in there." >> It begins around 6:47 p.m. on Saturday, November 1st, 2025, when a concerned civilian makes a distressing call to the Sarasota Police Department [music] about three children in danger. The caller claimed to have seen three kids being forced into a car while crying and screaming hysterically. But, as officers rushed to the store in Sarasota, Florida, they'd soon discover they were dealing with a far more serious situation. >> Who's calling and who's the one we're we're worried about here? >> The parents. This is the young woman. >> Okay. Ma'am, do you mind talking with him for a for a second? >> on the phone. She said >> So, what's going on? >> I'm driving. Okay, um >> Hi, sweetie. If you want to go over there with your brother, that'd be awesome. Just talking to your mommy, okay? Could you Could you go >> No. >> Could you go over there with your brother? >> No. >> Yeah, can you go over there with your little brother? Thank you so much. So, what What's going on over there? >> We just We're driving and Yeah. Okay, so I was driving and then um I was Okay. >> So, what we're going to do is do you know why we're here? So, what I want to do is I want to check your eyes. What car were you driving? So, I want to check your eyes to see if you're intoxicated. If you're not, then we're good to go and everybody's making whatever up. But, are you willing to do that >> Yes. >> I'll go with the test. >> Upon arriving, officers learn that the supposed abductor was actually the children's mother who had already risked her children's lives, including that of a 7-month-old infant, driving them across the city while heavily impaired. And things could have turned deadly had she managed to get them back into that car again. And as one officer pulled her aside for a field sobriety test, another would learn from the children just how bad the situation really was. >> What's up, guys? How are you? Ooh, watch your feet. Watch your feet. Let's go over here so you don't fall. What's your name? Awesome. You guys have a little brother, too? What's his name? Okay. >> Are you able to walk? So, we're going to go over here. We're going to go over here. Is that okay? This way. But, keep going. >> Are you the big brother? Do you want Can you answer a few questions for me? Awesome. Do you know how old she is? >> Uh she's four. >> As soon as I saw my mom drink the alcohol, I knew she like could not drive anymore. >> Oh, wait. So, you you did see your mom drink alcohol? Okay. All right, tell me about that. >> She like When when we stopped in the gas station, she like went inside and then she came out and we knew she was an alcoholic. >> Come over here. Come over here. Don't Don't walk towards the street. >> And then And then she put it right here and then she just like like threw it all over and then just like threw it >> Threw it in that trash? Do you know um Do you know what color it was or what kind it was? Was it tall? We'll get it. We'll get it for you. >> But, as soon as after she drank it, she like started like walking and like talking weird. So, that's how I absolutely knew it was an alcoholic. >> Do you want to go to this bench? >> Okay. This officer will get it. But it's >> Okay. Don't touch that. Don't touch that. Yeah, come over here. >> Okay. So, we're going to go over here. Keep going. So, go to that where that white line is. Okay. Stop right here. So, the allegation is that you're under the influence or whatever and driving with kids and all that stuff. So, I just want to make sure that you're not under the influence. All right? Just because of the call. >> Which I literally I can't tell you. >> Tell me what? >> I don't want to say anything. >> Okay. So, I'm going to check your eyes. And then, if your eyes look okay, we may do a couple other exercises just to dispel my fear. >> My eyes are a little >> That's okay. Do you wear glasses or contacts? >> Um no. >> No? Okay. Do you have any Silly question, but do you have any like traumatic brain injuries or whatever? >> No. >> So, for this exercise, all you're going to do is you're going to take both legs, put them together, hands down at your side just like this. And then, you're not going to move your head. You're just going to move your eyes. Okay? >> I'll [ __ ] >> It's just going to be side to side, up and down. Just your eyes. >> Okay. So, you put your >> So, yep. Put your arms down at your side just like this. There you go. >> So, I'll line them up. >> Yep. That's fine. So, just hold that position. Okay? So, what you're going to do is you're going to look at the tip of my pen. So, it's this is the stimulus. Okay? >> Okay. >> I'm going to shine just a little bit of light in your eyes so that I can see your eyes. And you're going to follow the tip of this pen side to side, up and down. It's going to be pretty slow movements. Okay? All right? You ready? >> Mhm. >> So, just look up. Look at the pen. You feel okay? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I shouldn't look up all the way. >> That's okay. That's fine. Are you Do you think you're able to walk like nine steps? Okay. I just want to make sure. I don't want it to become a safety hazard for you. >> No. No. >> Okay. That's it. I just don't want you to trip and fall and then, you know, we're in a whole different position. >> My mom has she to jail before for for drinking and driving? >> I'm sorry, buddy. >> Because and this is going to be the second time. >> Oh, we don't know if she's going to jail or not. They just want to make sure she's okay. >> Well, this is the first day she she got her her driving license back. >> Today was the first day? >> Yeah. Well, well >> She just got it back recently? >> Yeah. Well, no, today. >> Oh, wow. >> So, then the next thing we're going to do is called the walk-in turn. So, what you're going to do is you're going to place that left foot on that line just like you are and then you're going to take the right foot. Nope. Yep, there you go. And then take your right foot and put it on the front of your left. So, like this. Just like this. And then hold that position and put your arms down at your side just like this. Perfect. Are you going to be able to safely do this? >> Oh my gosh. >> No? Okay. >> I mean, I don't even know if I can do this. I don't know. >> Okay, so let's let's try it and if I think you're going to fall or hurt yourself, we'll stop it all together. I don't I just don't want you to get hurt. From this position, you're going to take nine heel-to-toe steps. So, you're going to go one two three. Don't practice it. But, you're going to go all the way to nine. The only reason I'm stopping at three is just for Yeah, to nine. Okay. Are you ready? >> Okay. Okay. So, you're saying I have to do my steps and if I fall do do do Okay. >> Okay. Are you ready? >> Yeah. >> All right, you can go ahead and start whenever you >> You said I have to do the walk-in walk-in test. Do I do one? >> Yep, just the steps. What grade are you in? >> Third. >> Third grade? How about you? >> Um, second grade. >> No, I'm not. She's in pre-K. >> Pre-K? >> I'm going to be extremely upfront with you. You are going to go to jail, but what I don't want to do is handcuff you in front of your kids because they're right there and my car is right there. Um so So, I'm going to walk you over there. I'm going to put you in the car, but I'm not going to do it in front of your kids. So, we're going to walk over there. I'm going to open the door and then I'm going to cuff you. I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt cuz I don't want your kids to be scarred from this. So, please don't like take advantage of that. >> I appreciate that. Well, I I do like cuz I don't want my kids to see me >> Exactly. I don't want them to either. All right. >> I appreciate everything that you're saying right now so that they couldn't see it. >> Yep. So, my car is over there so we'll walk over to my car. I'll open the door to where they can't see, okay? >> And when when's your grandma going to be here? >> It's 5:30 2:59 6:37:40. I'm 10 minutes away. >> You're so fast. 10 minutes? All right. Perfect. >> 67 >> What? >> 67 is a cursed word. >> It's a what? >> 67 is a cursed word. >> It's a cursed word? I don't even know what that means. >> Yeah, 67 is a cursed word and it kills you. I had a bad dream. >> You had a bad dream? >> I can't I had a the 67 in the bad dream. I couldn't have said 67 a lot. >> You've been saying 67 a lot? >> 67 >> What? I don't even know what that means. Come here, please. Hey. I don't want you running around cuz all the cars coming through here, okay? >> While this officer was still speaking with the children, another finally managed to make contact with the caller and what they described was even worse than what the children had said. >> So, what's going on today? >> pulled in and, you know, 10 minutes ago and they're I thought they were being abducted or something. I mean, they were screaming and the kids were hysterical. And then I thought, "Oh, maybe he's having a temper tantrum." I'm a mother of four. And then it kept going on and on when I went into the store and she's trying to push him in the car. And I'm like, "Honey, is everything okay?" to the 8-year-old boy. And he's like, "She's doing drugs and drinking, and my baby brother's in the backseat. There's an infant in there." So, I went up to her. >> Let's walk and talk a little. >> So, I didn't open the door or anything, but I made the kids come stand over here while I tried to assess what the heck was going on. So, the grandmother's coming on her way. I guess her mother. And when I say mean, this little boy is trying to save his kid. He's sitting in the car. >> So, they were all Both of them were screaming. It's like, what was she doing again? >> Trying to get them in the car and just swaying. She was out of it. >> How was she trying to get them in the car? Was >> Yeah, she had this door open, that door open, and she was trying to get them in. >> running around the car trying to get them into it. >> Yeah, and they were running all over. >> I mean, I I spoke to her to make sure I wasn't, you know, >> jumping to the gun or anything, but >> what she say to you? >> Couldn't even speak. >> Couldn't speak? >> And she was just swaying like this. I mean, I've seen many addiction. That's what I foundation. I've seen people. >> Yeah. >> I don't know if she's done something like that. She said they She threw alcohol in the trunk. That's what he was saying. >> Yeah. >> That's what he he was saying. Somehow she was throwing alcohol. >> And so, when you walked up to him, he was like, "She's doing What what he said to you?" >> He out drinking and doing >> Okay. >> And he was yelling that at her. When she was saying, "Get in the car," he she he was saying, "I'm not getting in the car with you. You're drinking and doing drugs." >> What was the mom doing when you bring the kids over there? >> She was out of it. I mean, she was on the phone, you know, I could hear the another woman, which is her grandmother, screaming going, "Please don't get in the car with those kids. You can't get in the car with those kids." And that's when I realized, okay, not with that. >> That's what you heard on her phone? >> On the speaker phone on her phone. >> So, then you bring the kids over, you're talking to the little boy, you're like, "What's going on?" He's like, "Oh, my mom's, you know." >> And when I say hysterical, I mean, absolutely hysterically crying, sobbing, "My mom's drunk." >> With this, and a failed sobriety test, officers decided to place the 28-year-old mother under arrest for child endangerment and driving under the influence. However, a search of her person would confirm the caller's suspicions, proving she was in for even bigger trouble. >> I'm going to jail. >> I don't understand. >> So, just stand right here. So, just stand right here. >> I got her. >> Well, I'm not going to be here by myself. >> So, just go ahead and put your hands right up here. Just turn around. Okay. >> That's your key fob right there. >> The customer >> Do you want to ask her? >> What? >> The proof. >> Um the the exercises that we just did. >> No, no. >> What? >> I'm not resisting for DUI. I'm not saying we're approved. >> What do you mean we're approved? >> So, you were seen driving a car. >> Who? >> You. >> Who saw me? >> A lot of people. That's why we're here. Go ahead and set up. Do you have a Glock? Go ahead and uh put that in there. >> All right. >> 936 10-4. 10-4, 936. >> Is that a baby? >> That's a >> Yeah, it was a baby. >> Um Nice. Um We don't have anybody actually seen her driving the car, but we have actual physical controls, is what it sounds like. >> Yeah, if we pulled the video >> Sure we can find her pulling in. >> She already admitted to him that she was driving. >> Yeah, and um casually talking to his son, he's crying. I'm like, "Oh, man, that looks good." >> What's going on today? He was like, "Um I knew something was wrong with my mom when I saw her drinking alcohol." And I was like, "Oh, where was she drinking at?" She said, "Right here in the parking lot." And he went to the trash can, "Look, she she threw this out. She chugged it and threw this out." So, I said, "Mike's car." Just give you a brief. I've talked to him. I still want to talk to him. This lady pulls up. The kids are screaming hysterically. She keeps like emphasizing like she thought that they were being abducted and like mostly they were screaming, running around the parking lot. And he she started walking up and the mom was trying to put them in the car and the little boy was yelling at the mom like, "No, you've been drinking and doing So then she was like separating the kids. She's like, "What's going on?" And she's like, "My mom's been drinking and doing So she separates them. Mom's just out of it. I mean she she's just She's just like standing there. >> She's probably either going to be a hoax She's probably going to be a But we have her in the car. She admitted to you driving. So >> What is your issue? >> Can you just Is anyone here for my kids? >> Well, we're we're going to have to call DCF and then we'll figure that out. >> give you a number? >> Your mother? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, she's on her way. But we got to make sure she's okay to take the kids through DCF. >> Okay, I don't want to be your enemy. I want to be your like I want to make sure my kids are okay. >> Well, you probably should have thought about that before driving while intoxicated with your kids and having What was in your bra? >> Um that was >> Was that or was that >> No, it was a >> I bought it as ketamine. >> As ketamine? >> Yeah. That's what I bought it as. >> What do you do? Smoke that or shoot it? What do you do? >> No, I snort it. >> You snort it? >> a shoot up 10 This will be a 24-year-old female. >> I'm not a I don't sell it or anything. >> Okay. >> I'm just a user. >> All right. >> Can you open that door for me? >> Yeah. >> However, when police later tested the substance, they discovered it was cocaine and a further search of her car turned up something even more incriminating. >> That's 41 with two arrests. They just need to transport them. So we need to separate them for transport. >> Have her 10-51 98. 10-51 98 transport. White female 15 to 20 years of age with a blonde ponytail. >> What time is it? >> 28 is all that I got right now. >> Zack's going to grab it. He's got it. >> 70 to 74. >> 24. >> Have her. >> Did you guys uh give any MDMA to this? >> I do not. >> [ __ ] >> I'm going to shoot this guy like crystal down the line. Kind of looks similar to what like people have in >> Yeah. >> their door handles. >> And she said it was ketamine. Looks exactly like it. >> After further testing, police confirmed [music] the substance was meth. Shortly after, her mother arrived on scene about to learn just how much trouble her daughter was really in. >> Here, I'll I'll talk to you in a minute. Um did anybody explain to you >> Yeah, and I, you know, I said that I had talked to just before she approached the gas station cuz I was wondering what, you know, what time she was going to be home. >> Go over there real quick. Go Go over there real quick. Go with that officer. >> She pounded it down in there and I don't know if she took pills. I don't know what she's doing. >> She is She is probably She's probably the drunkest I've ever seen somebody. >> She wasn't when I talked to her prior to stopping here. >> She's extremely drunk. >> Okay, but >> And I also found crystal >> So, that's what I'm thinking that she did that in there, too, and pounded it down. >> She pounded it down alcohol right in front of the sun cuz he watched it. >> Okay. >> So, she was driving like when you were on the phone with her? >> When I was on the phone with her, she had just pulled into a Shell cuz I had to go to the bathroom and she sounded fine. >> So, she sounds fine. >> Prior to that, she stopped at some guy's house prior to that. >> She's got to go. >> That's where she got whatever she got and when she got here, she did whatever she did. >> She's got like a good amount of on her. A lot. I did the field sobriety exercises with her and she failed the nystagmus maneuver. I'm not really sure what she's I'm just going to be very transparent with you with her charges. She's going through some pretty serious trouble. She she could lose the kids over this. The fact that a baby was in the car, let alone two other babies, is is not okay. I've done a lot of DUIs in my life and her eyes were probably some of the worst I have ever seen. I've never seen that. Whether it's on drugs or whether it's alcohol for her to do that, I mean, the way she pulled in obviously isn't great. She is lucky that she didn't kill them. She's lucky that she didn't hit anybody. She put those babies in in very bad danger. The son was hysterically crying so bad that he refused to get in the car with mommy because >> hysterically crying to me prior to that because she even drove the first place >> He watched her do the He watched her drive. >> He watched her do the drugs. >> He told us that mommy was doing drugs. >> Hey, whatever happens to her, she deserves it. I don't know what I'm going to do with the babies. >> But so we have to we have to involve DCF with this as well, unfortunately. So we have to call DCF. They just run your name through the system and then once they get clearance, we can release the babies to you. >> And I'll get them. >> She's going to have She's getting DUI and there's an enhancement with having uh three passengers under the age of 18 in the car, so she's she's going to get a ton of charges stuck on her. And the possession >> What kind of jail time is she looking at? I mean, she's going to jail now, obviously, but is she going to >> She's facing felonies, so I think with the possession she could face up to three to four years just alone on the possession charge. And most courts for simple DUIs they're pretty lenient of like, "Hey, we'll just drop it to a reckless as long as you learn your lesson." But I don't foresee that happening. >> Is she working? What's she doing for a job? >> She got a job at a daycare where she's lead teacher with the infants. >> But I mean, she hasn't been doing anything. She hasn't been doing any drugs or anything. And the first time she got her car back, here she is. >> How much does the baby eat per bottle? 7 oz? How many scoops do you put in her? Okay. I'm just making sure. When's the last time he ate? >> What time is it right now? >> It's 7:30. >> Like 2 hours ago. >> Okay. >> Why? >> Because he's hungry. I want to make him a bottle. >> he's hungry. >> Yeah. Listen. I got a body camera on, so I can't say all the things I want to say, but I want you to take a look at this. >> I know it's so sad. >> I I hope I hope you get the help you need. Hope you get the help you need. We have nothing but resources to help you, but this has to stop. I have a body camera on, so I'm very reserved in what I'm going to say, but this is disgusting. >> Why? >> What? >> I am I am my son is hungry? >> The fact that you're That's what you're getting out of this? Not that you're in the back of a cop car? >> No, I understand where I'm at. I'm I'm trying to understand where they're at. >> Where they're at is I'm going to feed your son. I'm going to take care of it because I'm sober. Whatever help you need, you need to find it. Pisses me off. And with that, officers decided [music] to transport the 28-year-old mother to jail. However, she would decide she wasn't quite in enough trouble yet. >> Okay. So, we're going to go to the jail. You say you're not drunk. So, do you want to take a breathalyzer test with me? >> No? >> No, of course not. I don't trust you. >> Why don't you trust me? What did I do? >> Cuz you're being rude. >> How am I being rude? I've been nice. >> All of y'all been rude to me. >> You just said I was nice to you. >> You weren't nice to me, but you're all all y'all being rude to me. >> I'm not being rude. I can't control what he says, but I'm not being rude. I'm not blaming you. I'm not mad at you. I'm I'm not anything. I I'm just I got to do my job. Other people have feelings about it, but I'm not I haven't been disrespectful to you. >> I was not drinking and driving. >> Okay. So, we're going to go to the jail, okay? And then I got to ask you the same question, and if you still refuse, I got to read you something, okay? Ultimately, she was charged with felony neglect of a child, possession of a controlled substance, misdemeanor driving under the influence, first offense, possession use of narcotic equipment, refusal to submit DUI testing. Her total cash bond was set at $5,500. Her next jury trial hearing is scheduled for September 2026. Want to step up your style? Check out codebluecam.com for hoodies, tees, hats, mugs, and more.
