inhalation dude it was well you saw from that side it was crazy they're I think they're in like their 70s he said the guy said he woke up they woke up ran downstairs got outside the whole porch is on fire by the time he'd gotten out she thought he was behind her and then she was gone so she was up yeah hit her head on something or something fell on her and or smoke inhalation and just felt but they haven't even made entry yet but unfortunately the word we've gotten his uh occupant inside of the house didn't make it out unfortunately so our condolences go to them just cuz it's very preliminary at the moment and uh not a lot is known as far as the origin or how it happened uh it's now an active crime scene so uh essentially it's going to be treated as an arson or anything else until proven otherwise so we're going to start a perimeter and go from there um likely we have some investigators coming out the preliminary info he's got they've gotten is it started in the shed right here y so they don't know what but right there in that shed when was in the shed I know like a lawnmower chemicals maybe I mean the heat transfer just literally like straight up heat transfer to there it's wild yeah look at that freaking it's crazy so about 12:30 in the morning we responded to a call regarding a structure fire over here in the country club area in pintop um it's a heavily wooded area so upon arrival on scene um massive massive structure engulfed um one of our deputies was the first on scene before the fire department and uh made contact with somebody who was able to make it out of the house uh unfortunately the other occupant did not make it out of the house um and basically it's a complete loss right now the investigation is in a preliminary stages uh what they believe at this point is that the fire started in a shed in the backyard somehow and it spread to the main structure um at this point their fire department is just working on mopping up uh the structure putting out the hot spots it's probably going to be at least 5 six more hours till they get it even cool enough to where they could go inside and unfortunately retrieve the body um at this point we're just holding down the crime scene uh we have our detector is coming out to investigate what was going on and the medical examiner or coroner is also in route so our condolences go to the to the family for their loss and uh on the bright side we're thankful for the fire department and everybody else that came out here and we're grateful that the fire didn't spread any other properties I mean it's it's one thing I mean we we respond to fires quite a bit especially up here in the High Country and the heavily wooded areas but um just to hear on the radio and hear another deputy on scene uh saying it's fully engulfed and there's some trapped inside I mean it definitely uh takes things to another level and yeah by the time we got on scene I mean it's just crazy I mean from a half mile away you can start seeing the orange the orange glow and the smoke and it just it's crazy and it it's nothing to mess around with fire is a real thing and uh like I said I mean we're we're past which is also a criminal violation in Arizona he has a valid and confirmed warrant out of Winslow PD so we placed him into custody during search incident to arrest he had pretty good amount of methamphetamine on him during a search of the vehicle we found a used meth pipe um she had a butane torch in her purse she denies any knowledge he took the fall if you will and said that everything was his so we're going to book him we're taking all the the weapons for evidence for now and if the County Attorney deems that he can have them back someday then he can request them back on another pretty gross hi look at those just pretty good crystals you want to put him in your truck just so we could separate him and uh yeah I got to move some he moved the needle from the time that I detained her God there's like I'm just scared I'm going to get one cuz there's caps everywhere and I'm like another crazy weapon he was asking for a time frame on how long this is going to take because he he chest is hurting and his blood pressure is high and this all happened as soon as he was told that he's under arrest he wanted to go to the hospital once he found out he was going to jail so um he has a right to receive medical treatment so he's going to be going to the hospital at the ambulance temporarily he'll get checked out there um he'll get cleared for incarceration at the hospital the other depu is going to go with him and wait with him um once he's cleared at the hospital which shouldn't take more than an hour or two he'll be booked into jail now we're back on our routine area patrols when we receive a call from DPS about a hit-and run Collision on I40 now while we're actively looking for for this vehicle we get another call this call involved a dark color SUV parked in an apartment complex the caller said that the driver looked intoxicated and he was passed out at the wheel we headed there immediately we drove around the back and we found a dark colored SUV parked sideways over a curb with the driver passed out behind the wheel I approach him on the driver's side and I took a few seconds to see what I can see inside the vehicle that way it can give me some CL cles as to what may have been happening open the [Music] door open the door open the [Music] door open the [Music] door open the door roll down the window he looks pretty incoherent he uh had a glazed look on his face red bloodshot watery eyes the alcohol can was right next to him looked like his motor skills were off because he couldn't function with the buttons on the vehicle roll down the window I'm going to break the window do not take it out of gear he sat up in his seat I saw him reach for the ignition I was hopeful he was going to turn his vehicle off since it was idling but instead he reached up and he went for the gear shifter roll down the window get out I was parked directly behind him and in front of him there was a playground with a bunch of kids playing I knew that I could not allow him to drive that vehicle through the playground I pulled out my baton I warned him I was going to break the window and he reached for it again I had to make a judgment call it was a split-second decision and I chose to break his window put your hand on your back just keep them there 113 I have one M detain do you have anything on you no okay you're detained right now okay so I'm the way that he went over this curb this park there's obviously recent damage to the curb the way that he was acting in there um I was hoping he would be compliant open the window or at least the door to talk to me he instead he went to shift it out of gear to I mean we got apartment complexes a playground right there he could have gone anywhere so ended up having to break the window he admitted to drinking he uh provided a breath sample and a PBT test out here he was in uh actual physical control of this car although he wasn't driving vehicle's running keys in the ignition he's in the driver's seat so he's under arrest for DUI at this time we're going to process the vehicle and process him as quickly as possible so we're going to do a traffic stop on this black Jeep just for a suspended everything on this I was supposed to get insurance my insurance uh like canceled out because I I like didn't pay it and everything and okay I hear you um and then do you have an old Reg ation card uh like see I even like called like called the courts and they said they couldn't find anything like do you have any documentation of that no I I haven't been able to go to courts cuz cuz that warrant that warrant's been out since 2022 exactly like exactly that's what I'm so I would have think like I think you would have gotten to taking care by now right just this year I found out about it okay thing on that warrant is under you your name your social security number you know what I'm saying of course and I'm I'm just being straight up with you okay so come sit in my car um panel you can bond should have got it squared away and I I get it man and I'm and it's crazy man and I've never been in trouble in a day in my life listen listen you're driving without a license too you're driving with no insurance you're driving with a suspended plate technically I'm supposed to tow that vehicle and impound it I get that's your only way of transportation I'm not going to do that okay I'm not going to tell it understand everything Happ here and I get your upset man I get it the way I'm going to try to help you out as much as I can is not tell your vehicle is not impound it and I'm also not going to give you a traffic ticket for all those other things is that fair enough okay I know it sucks of I'm not I'm not sitting here telling you should be happy about this because I understand right I understand I understand why you're not but I'll do what I can cuz you've been cooperative and cordial with me to help you out by not Heming you up by Towing the car and giving you a bunch of traffic tickets on top of all already a not ideal situation right is that fair enough okay I just got to make sure there's nothing in your pocket so just face the car okay face the car yep okay my man all birthday okay the thing is we have no way to verify of what he's saying okay um I already let him know I know this situation is not ideal obviously um but I'm not technically I'm supposed to tow and impound that vehicle also because he's driving without a license I'm not going to do that to you guys okay I'm not going to tow the car I'm also not going to give him a bunch of traffic tickets either okay cuz I know that's not going to help you guys out to any degree in already not a not ideal situation uh we're just going to do a traffic stop on the silver van here um play isn't matching it's not coming back to a vehicle just a minor violation for now and we'll see if it turns into anything else being the Circle K in Lakeside with the silver van is it stuck hey reason for a stop is just the license plate is not registered it's not coming back associated to a vehicle at all it should it's not um I have the registration okay that might work did you possibly did you possibly get a new plate and it didn't didn't get registered or we could have I don't know I just oh you know what my grandma okay um I to see that's fine yeah yeah I'll take it thank you took the car a little bit ago without asking she had to get she had to get new plates for it CU I ended up getting rested she got the car back so she just got new plates for it so that could be it okay that might be it it might just be an trouble for it um basically later down the line so we're just going to do a quick sweep they said we could um quick sweep check it out as long as you're not in back there we'll get them on their way as promised with a warning for the pl and then be be out of here we'll just this was his bag so we're going to inventory it real quick before goes into uh safekeeping at the anx and then uh get him on his way so there's some Naran it's usually indicative of drug e not always though but so I mean there's a little tiny bit of foil like little it's right here with burn residue in the bag which technically could be drug paraphernalia but I mean given the fact that it's smaller than a penny um I'm not going to charge him with that but I mean usually the Narcan along with that which would be fentanyl paraphernalia is usually pretty indicative of fentanyl use and drug use um I'll talk to him about it my guess is that he probably got rid of all the paraphernalia in his back bag um either somewhere in the car that we couldn't see or um while we were behind him somewhere or possibly dumped it out on the road um when we passed the car the first time but that'd be my guess um I'll talk to him about it in a second but my man do you have anything else on your person okay did you throw anything in the car no like straight up stra up okay I mean I see I have n can in there because I'm not worried about it I'm not worried about it like there's nothing nothing illegal I mean there is there's a little bit of foil in there man with some burned residue but listen listen listen it's it's so the plate not coming back registered to a vehic any vehicle at all or any registration um did a traffic stop on it upon doing a traffic stop saw the a backseat passenger jumping around and then upon approach of the vehicle saw I'm hiding basically in the back seat Against the Wind window um it turned out to be a male I was familiar with um just through prior police contacts um upon running his info showed to have a warrant at of the sholo police department for various offenses so um got him out placed him under us for that um we searched his bag that was in the vehicle um turned out to be a little small amount of drug paraphernalia in the bag but given the fact that it's so small he says it's from a long time ago um made the decision not to charge him with it so what we're going to do from here is just put transport him over to the annex we've been twice now today uh book him in and then we'll be out of there [Music]
