Ma'am, you have to get out of the vehicle. No, I don't. >> Ma'am, I've asked >> I've asked you to step out of the vehicle and if you refuse to step out of what >> I have to remove you from the shooting away from me. You're under arrest. >> On February 3rd, 2023, a late night traffic stop in Atlanta seemed like nothing more than a faulty headlight situation. But as every good viral arrest saga proves, headlights are just the appetizer, not the main course. What followed was a messy cocktail of excuses, stubbornness, and resistance, ending with a ride no one really wanted. Watch closely because the real drama was only warming up. >> Hey. >> Hello, ma'am. >> Hi. >> Hey. I stopped you cuz you uh you have one headlight up there. Um my name is Officer Kramer, Sandy Springs Police. Okay. Um do you have your driver's license on you? >> Yes. Thank you. Thank you. Did you know you had a headlight out? >> Yes. >> You did know? >> Okay. You working on getting it fixed? >> I am. Yes. >> Okay. All right. Give me just a minute. I'm coming right back to you. >> No insurance. that the email address there anyways. Excuse me, ma'am. >> Yes. >> So, your tag is is suspended for lack of insurance. Do you have insurance on the vehicle? >> No. >> You don't have insurance on the vehicle? >> Um, no. >> So, what's going on? >> Okay. So, honestly, I was waiting till I get got paid and I did today, but I was having issues because my direct deposit got sent to the wrong account. So, I was waiting today to get paid to pay it cuz I I go e drive services. I was going to pay the full amount um today. That was that was my plan. So, I had to wait two weeks to get paid cuz I've never cuz I haven't been like this until like I haven't got paid. >> I got you. Where you working? >> I work at on. >> Okay. That's what That's why I usually pay it from the e drive services. I paid I was going to pay the 200. >> Did you get paid today? >> I do. Yeah. >> Okay. Give me a minute. I'm going to come back to you. Okay. >> Okay. You >> No. So, you don't think give the give her the opportunity to get insurance in front of me? >> Yeah. She does all the time. [Music] >> What started as a simple traffic stop over a busted headlight quickly snowballed. The driver admitted she knew about it, but things got worse when officers ran her license, which showed a suspended tag, no valid insurance, and more were waiting in the system. After hearing about her paycheck issues, officers thought about cutting her some slack. But discovering she was a repeat offender quickly ended that idea. [Music] >> There you go. Now you get suspended registration, no insurance, expired time. There's three tickets and then you give her warning for your initial stop which was dead. >> Yes. Ready? Yeah. >> All right, ma'am. This is for you. >> They towing the car. >> I have to. I don't have a choice. >> Even though >> suspended registration. I don't have a choice. >> I just I just paid it. Yeah. >> Even if you even if you have insurance on it, the suspended it's an arrestable offense. >> No, I just paid it. >> I know the registration you couldn't have though. >> No, I I I literally just paid the 160 for the registration >> for insurance. You have to get insurance. There's no way you fix registration. >> I'm doing the I'm doing the insurance now >> for driving for knowingly driving without insurance. I have to tow the vehicle. I have these for you to sign. Remember, you're not admitting to guilt when you sign this thing. You're saying that you will appear at this court date. This is the address for the court date. Take that for me there. This is the address for the court date. All right. And this is the And this is the time. Okay. Um sign right here at the bottom. And it's not admission of guilt. It is just saying that you will appear at that court date. Get everything of value out of the car. >> So, you guys want to pick some? >> Yes. Yeah, of course. >> I've got a few more for you there. Same spot. And once more. You don't want them taking a whole bunch of your stuff with you, though. So, make sure you get everything of value out of the car with you. And I'm going to give you these bottom three. I >> I I can't let the car leave. I'm sorry. My hands are tied. It's on there now. >> I know. I I I can't let the car drive off. I'm telling you, my hands are tied >> because it's when I stop the car for suspended registration, it's much worse. >> I guess they have to pay the I did pay >> and because of in lack of insurance is what it's suspended for. I just don't have a choice. >> I just paid for both of them. >> I know I don't have a choice here. I'm sorry. If you would grab everything of value out >> and um on my own. >> Yes. until you get until you grab. >> By this point, the stop had spiraled far past a broken headlight with suspended registration, expired tags, and no insurance. She was juggling more violations than a Netflix true crime binge. When the towing threat came up, panic set in, layered with repeated protests and feudal negotiations. She clung to her car like it was her childhood teddy bear, bargaining with the universe to let her keep it. >> You get a rob of value out of it. Y car like this when our >> to stand outside. >> Yes, you can. >> I don't want to stand outside. >> Yeah. >> Oh, yeah. That's what Damn. That [ __ ] look [ __ ] up. That's what you're free to stay under this hanging here until your ride gets here. So, you want to stand out in the rain? >> Yeah. >> Or you can go in the gas station. >> Either way. >> Do you have anything of value that you need to get out of your car beside your bag there? All right, man. We get everything about value out. We got it packed up at least. It's what? >> Yeah. Yeah. From from from this place. I'm going to give you a case card that has all the info on it. You got to step out with me. >> Yes, ma'am. Step out with me. I'm going to give you a case card. It's got location of your vehicle where you can pick it up. Now, I'm going to tell you to step out of the vehicle. >> And if you refuse to step out of what? >> I have to remove you from the vehicle. >> I'm This is the last time I'm going to tell you. If you refuse to step out of the vehicle, I'm going to have to remove you from the vehicle. I don't feel like that. >> I'm going to remove you from the vehicle. >> I know that you need to go. >> You coming out? >> No, I'm not. >> All right, ma'am. Let go of the >> Yeah, man. Stop. Stop. You're under arrest. I got the bag with him. >> You're under arrest. >> You're under arrest. >> Officers tried to escort her out, but she sat there, seat belt locked, like the world's most stubborn theme park rider, refusing to exit, all while fiddling with her phone like it held the secrets of the universe. Cops tried patience, but it ran out fast, so they dragged her out with her bag and tow. Honestly, it takes a special kind of talent to turn a simple ticket into a full-blown jail >> camp. No. >> Give me your other arm right now. Get control first. >> My phone. Let go. cuz you're fighting >> if you would comply >> under arrest for obstruction. You hurt my >> should have got out of the car when we told you to the first time. Yeah, definitely not. >> You have anything on you that's going to poke me or stick me? By now, the officers were done playing around. Out came the cuffs. In came the resistance, and chaos got an encore. She resisted like a cat in a bathtub, taking the ride from paycheck troubles to felony vibes in record time. In the end, the cuffs won, the car got towed, and she got a front row seat to her own lesson learned special. She was taken into custody on charges of suspended registration, disorderly conduct, and driving without insurance before being transported to Fulton County Jail.
