on July 20th 2024 a deputy from the Bernett County Sheriff's Office was on patrol when he saw a driver he recognized to have an active warrant for his arrest when the deputy activated his emergency lights the vehicle accelerated and began fleeing before the driver pulled over after a short Pursuit the suspect left his truck and drive while stepping out causing him to fall over the female passenger was able to climb in the driver's seat and put it in park get on the ground right now get on the ground get on the the ground [ __ ] I'm not going anywhere 53 I need units at North Pine 420 North Pine I got a mail at bailed for me he's down on the ground get on your stomach throw your cigarette out you're not lighting a cigarette who's with you driver get out of the car put your arms out got a hold of somebody down there otherwise he's going to go for sure for the warrants uh he's he already made a comment that he saw my lights and accelerated so he can go for the felony flea if not Reckless sa danger safety yeah so only one person that I could find that saw him drive past that's okay he gave a verbal statement gave his information okay he said in his opinion he went by so fast operator fleeing or eluding an officer he was sentenced to one year in prison 18 months of extended supervision and ordered to pay a $750 fine the female passenger Melissa was found guilty for possession of drug paraphernalia and ordered to pay a $750 fine
