Hands out right here for me. Are you going to touch me? Get your finger out of my face. >> I'll bite your finger off. >> Get on THE GROUND RIGHT NOW. >> FEAR SHOULD be a real thing in your life right now. >> I don't have any money to pay you. >> In policing it's almost guaranteed that during your shift you're likely going to be threatened. And you may also get challenged. And many times those threats and challenges are idle and you can de-escalate them verbally. But sometimes a person takes that threat to a point where it is about to get physical. And then you might find yourself facing off against a taser and several officers responding to take the person into custody. This is one of those. >> Hey, inside up there. >> If you haven't subscribed to the channel, please make sure you click on the subscribe button and the notification bell. I found that many of you who watch regularly aren't subscribed and it helps the videos get pushed out to the people so that other people can enjoy the channel just like we do. Thank you. >> What's going on? >> The original video says that a person was revving their motorcycle and looked like they might be impaired and so the officer went to do a welfare check on the person. >> Okay, why are you sitting here revving your engine back and forth going in the middle of the road? >> I didn't go in the middle of the road. Pulled over and turned around and that's it. >> Okay, I watched you sitting here falling over on the bike trying to get it across the road. >> I don't have shoes on, man. That's all. >> You have an ID on you? >> I don't, no. >> You have no ID. Do you have any what Don't reach in your pockets. Do you have any on you? Give me your >> dude. I don't have a weapon, dude. >> All right, you mind if I pat you down real quick and make sure you don't have Face that way for me. Keep your hands up on top of your head for me. Thanks, sir. Is this your bike? I got you. Where are you from? Here, step over here. Here, out of traffic. Huh? >> Minnesota. >> Minnesota, okay. >> I like it that the officer is respectful, tactically conducts his pat down. You know I'm very, very big on the pat downs. Do them methodical and make sure that they're done. >> Down here on vacation or what's going on? >> Nope. >> What you down here >> I got a place down here, too. >> Oh, you have a place down here, okay. So, what's going on with you revving your bike? >> I dude, I have pipes. It's the point. >> Okay, but here's the thing. You're down here on the side of road sitting there screaming, revving your bike, stopping people in traffic. >> No. >> And you're coming across the road trying to walk across the road with Okay, but then you're trying to walk across the road with the bike. >> No, no, I wasn't. >> You were. >> What do you want me to do? Fly across the road? >> No, but you can't be sitting there going sideways across the road. You have no idea on you. Uh hang tight right here for me. Right here. Okay, stay tight right here for me. Okay, I'm Hang tight right here for me. Okay. >> I'm standing here. >> I understand that. Right there. >> Yeah, I'm standing right here. >> Okay. Okay, so this is interesting cuz now the guy says, "I'll stand where I want." This is a test here. I'll stand where I want, and it looks like he's walking away. The question that an officer must ask himself in this situation is, "How far do I want to escalate this situation knowing that this might have to go hands-on?" And it's just a question you have to ask, and then act upon whatever decision it is that you come to. >> Hey. Wait, are you going to arrest me? >> No, I'm Having Get over here. Get over here. No, I'm trying to make sure you're okay. Now, stand over here. >> I'm going to sit on my bike right here. >> No, right here. >> I'm going right here. >> Okay, I don't care. You're going to sit right here. >> What you want me to do? >> You're going to sit right here. >> zero say over what I >> You're going to sit right here. >> I'm not going to sit right there. I'm going to sit >> No, you're not. You're going to stay tight right here. >> You're not detaining me. You sent me another unit. Arrest me or let me go. Arrest >> Over here. >> Arrest me or I'm going to go this way. >> No, over here. >> cannot tell me what to >> not free to leave. Do you understand that? >> Arrest me. >> You are not free to leave. >> arrest me? >> Over here. >> No, I'm going to go that way. >> You're not going to go that way. >> to the ground, then? >> No, I'm going to have you sit over here. I'm trying to be cordial with you. I'm trying to be cordial with you. >> not. Are you going to touch me? >> Yes, I will put hands on you, okay? >> Why? >> Because you are being detained. Because you're Okay, listen to me. your mouth. Listen to me. >> That'll be the dumbest thing you've ever >> Listen to me. I'm not going to argue with you. Don't Do not get in my face. >> in your face. >> Okay, get your finger out of my >> Do not I'll bite your finger off. >> Do not You're not Listen. >> I I will bite your finger >> Okay, listen. >> off of your hand. >> Okay, calm down. Let me talk. >> out of my face. >> No, let me talk to you. >> out of my >> Get on the ground. >> I'm not doing it. >> GET ON THE GROUND RIGHT NOW. >> REALLY DOING >> HANDS ON THE GROUND. >> FOR WHAT? >> GET ON THE GROUND. >> WEAPON. I have no weapon. >> 124, give me traffic. >> You already checked. I HAVE NO >> GET ON THE GROUND RIGHT NOW. PUT YOUR HANDS FLAT ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND. >> THERE YOU GO, BUD. >> GET ON THE GROUND RIGHT NOW. YOU WILL GET TASED. GET ON THE GROUND. >> WHAT? >> PUT YOUR FACE ON THE GROUND. DO YOU UNDERSTAND ME? Get on the ground. Get on the ground. >> WHAT THE >> FACE DOWN. >> THERE you go, bud. >> Put your hands behind your back. You will get tased. >> What am I getting arrested >> Put your HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> WHAT ARE YOU ARRESTING >> You are BEING DETAINED. PUT YOUR hands behind your back. >> What, dude? I don't I have a bad arm, okay? >> Okay, put your other hand behind your back right now. >> What are you doing? >> Put your hand behind your back. >> you doing, dude? Why are you doing this? Dude, I >> I told you to stop. >> I did. I You approached me, dude. Ow, please, man. Hey. I got a bad arm, but you see the scar? Why are you doing this? Really? >> 124, you are detained. >> For what? For what? >> Cuz you're not listening to me. >> I I DON'T HAVE TO LISTEN TO YOU. >> YOU YOU WERE DETAINED, SO I TOLD YOU TO WALK IN TRAFFIC. >> NO. >> I SAID YOU WERE DETAINED. >> DUDE, go get your Dude, give me your >> What happened, officer? Please. >> In custody, excellent sequence, lots to learn from a legal perspective and from a tactical perspective. I'm going to address the tactical stuff first. Okay, throughout this stop, we see the focus was maintained on controlling this guy from the very beginning, from the pat-down, where he wanted the guy to stand. And it seems like he had him at first, but the guy started to do his own thing. You could see it start to unfold. It It went from some control to very little control. Now, I want to talk about something called sizing up. Sizing up is prior to or during an interaction or a confrontation. There's some things that a person does. Can I take this person? Can I intimidate this person? Can I impose my will on this person? And that is what this guy was doing to the officer the entire time. Those were little microaggressions that you saw and some were just straight up aggressions that you saw. Like I'm going to go where I want, I can stand over here, and then taking steps away to see how far they can go. Now remember, police have policies. He can't just go and just jump on the guy's back and throw a chokehold on him. You have to utilize all the tools that you have. But people will test you. The statement I'm going to stand where I want was the most overt statement of I realize that I'm going to do what I want and I don't believe that you can stop me. You're going to have to show me. And the taser became the great equalizer. When he saw the taser come out, he realized that it was now swayed in the officer's favor and he didn't want to have to go through that 5-second ride because he likely knows that it's painful. Now, I want to talk about some specifics that I noticed. Now, you've heard me talk about training with your tools where you should be able to close your eyes and go for all your tools. Now, if you notice the officer, we can see the officer's line of sight because his head doesn't go down. The officer draws his taser without putting his head down, eyes still on the subject, and then he has the taser pointed at the subject. And you also notice that the officer took a step back, created some distance so that you'll have a spread so that the taser can be more effective. When I see these tactical movements that just become second nature to an officer, I know this is an officer that trains and it's very, very good to see those kinds of things. Now, let's talk about the legal side of this because there's a legal side every time that we interact with a person. It has to be are we investigating a crime? What's the crime? We can't just go around asking people, I want your ID, I want you to do this, I want you to do that. So, what's the crime? So, the officer had they were reporting that this guy looked like he was impaired. He was with a motorcycle and he's revving the engine. I don't know if the revving the engine is a crime, but definitely being impaired on a motorcycle is a crime and the officer was well within his rights to continue to conduct his investigation. So, asking the subject to stay where he needed him to stay while he conducted an investigation well within his rights tactically and within the legal rights. >> Get me the August shirt, dude. Get me off. >> You can sit down right here. >> Don't touch me. >> Yeah, I will put hands on you. >> Okay, you're I will break your neck. >> Okay, keep talking. >> Okay, I will break your >> Keep talking. >> Sir, I will >> You're detained. You're detained. >> Okay, for what? >> You're detained because you're revving your engine AND DRIVING >> DO ANYTHING WRONG. CALL THE COPS. PLEASE, MAN. I didn't Dude, you saw this all. Please. >> Stand up. >> Dude, I got to I'll stand up on my own. Get off me. I'll stand up. I have a up I'm surgically repaired, dude. Let me >> Which elbow? >> THAT ONE YOU'RE GRABBING AT THAT SHOULDER. AND THAT ANKLE. AND THIS KNEE. AND THAT FOOT. >> QUIT ARGUING. >> I What are you doing to me? >> to You better quit, man. I'm telling you right now. >> you come get this off me, bro. >> All right, so he I'm on the traffic stop. >> quiet. >> Be quiet. >> I didn't do anything wrong. >> He's on the side of the road just revving his bike motor. Stop the >> god, dude. Get the >> All these people coming to me saying, "Hey, he's drunk. He's tipping >> I'm sober. I don't even drink. >> He's tipping over the bike. >> No, my bike was done. I don't have shoes on, dude. Get this cops off me. >> Get a cage. >> Cop, get the off >> Get a cage. >> Ooh, raw. Get these >> No, I didn't. >> Dude, hey, I'm suing the out of this guy. I'm suing the out of this guy. >> He's on his mouth revving the >> Oh, no, he's Oh my god. >> I told him to stop. He keeps >> I said I'll bite your finger off if you put it in my face, Yes, I will. I'm a warrior. >> He's walking away from me. >> Get me the out of these cops, dude. >> I have an ID. And I >> Yeah, both of them. Look at >> That's a law. Get him on the ground. Get him on the ground. >> Get the away from me, sir. >> Okay. >> He's going to threaten >> Tell me and my wife >> Yeah, okay. Yeah, get the >> Get him an ID. >> I don't have a weapon. How the he threatened to tase me? >> Okay. >> HE TRIED TO TASE ME, DUDE. Are you serious? >> Chill out. >> Bro, what the >> Relax. >> I'm sitting on the ground in cuffs, bro. Please. >> I know. Relax. >> I Chill. Give me >> What's your name? >> Okay. >> I told the officer I didn't have an ID. I said, "Hang tight right here." He said, >> I just was walking to get a water, man. I'm >> I can't walk that way. >> Yeah, I can't walk, bro. Cool. Here, that's a >> Brother, >> Please. >> We'll settle this here in just a minute, okay? >> This kid's not going to have a job as soon as I stand up. Please give me the Please cuffs, sir. >> All right. Just relax. >> This stupid No, please, man. I'm not relaxing. Please, give me out of the cuffs, dude. >> One moment. Just stay with him. I'll just be running real quick. Give me 1 second, sir. All right. >> yes. >> Sit down. >> Give me a stand, dude, please. I'm not doing Why is he touching me, dude? >> Sit down. Just sit down and chill. >> Is Neil here, please? More comfortable. >> That's >> fine. >> Yes, he's touching me before, dude. >> All right, relax. All right. Okay. Well, he's not a kid. He's a grown ass man. Okay. He's a gross He's a grown man, okay? >> He's still got mama's behind his ears. >> Okay. Look at me, dude. All right, stand him up. Let's secure him over there. All right. >> I'm fine, man. >> Young aspiring officers, guaranteed this is going to happen to you when you look young. I've seen this so many times. I'm a field training officer with my young trainee or new officer. They're 22 years old. They look super young. And while we're interacting with people, they would almost always turn to me and talk to me and ignore them. It got to a point that I learned that if I wanted my new officer to get experience, then I would have to step away and be within eye and earshot, but so that the person would naturally have to talk to the young aspiring officers. Young aspiring officers, don't take offense to it. Appreciate and embrace the fact that you look young, but if you're technically and tactically proficient, it will make up that gap for the fact that you look young and a lot of people may try to take advantage of that. >> Why am I going to a Dude, why is this kid touching me, bro? I will walk. Why is this kid touching me, sir? >> I'm sorry, guys. >> I didn't do Officer, I have a I'm Hey, I'm surgically impaired, boys. Please tell this kid to back the back off my shoulder. >> Definitely. >> Wow, why is this kid touching me? Can I put my shoes on? They're my bike >> Yes, sir. I'm sorry, sir. >> Yes, sir. You already How do you get me down, dude? >> We're doing it again. >> Okay, go ahead, bro. Please help me, please. >> Now, face that way. >> Yes, sir. Please help me with this situation. Please, man. >> Put your chest right there. >> Okay, sir. I I will gladly put my chest on the stars and stripes, sir. >> Thanks, sir. >> Oh, my ball. You You just broke my ball, you know. >> Oh, your ball. You can't have it anyways. Doesn't matter. You can't have it in public. >> We're going to do it again. He said we already searched. What? No, we're going to do it again. Best practice, trust but verify. When you take someone else's prisoner, you always must research them. When you place a prisoner inside of the car, you search them. When you take them out of the car from someone else, you can search them and check the vehicle to make sure nothing was left inside the vehicle. That is not going to hurt you in any way, but missing something will definitely hurt you. Trust but verify. >> Okay, you can't smoke in public. >> smoking. >> Sit down. >> smoking. >> Sit down. Put your feet in the car. >> What? Am I being >> Put your feet in the car. >> Excuse me. >> Put your feet in the car. You're going to put another charge. Put your feet in the car. >> I haven't been charged yet. >> Listen, I just pulled up. Did you see me pull up? Put your feet in the car. >> I didn't do anything. >> feet in the car. I'm going to drag your ass in the >> Can I take off my shoes? >> Put your feet in the car. We're going to get it. Put your feet in the car. >> I barely fit in the car. >> feet in the car. >> I can't help you stand there, please. I'm not even arrested. >> Put your feet in the car. >> You didn't even read me my rights at all. >> We don't have to read you your rights. PUT YOUR FEET IN THE CAR. >> I wasn't even in the car. Yes, you do, sir. >> PUT YOUR FEET IN THE CAR. >> OFFICER, PLEASE, MAN. PLEASE, MAN. PLEASE. >> Sit down. >> All right. So, what happened? >> So, I'm on the traffic stop and all I hear is him and he's just down here doing like this. He's yelling, revving his bike like super loud. >> Okay. >> I'm like, what is this guy's problem? I'm trying to deal with the traffic stop. >> Yeah. >> And uh all these people like three or four people stopped me. Hey, you need to check on that man. He He looks like he's drunk. He's all over the place. >> Okay. >> He's falling over. So, I look down and he's like this, like stumbling with the bike. >> Okay. >> I go, "Okay." So, then he just turns in front of the the cars here. He just makes a U-turn in the middle of the road real slow. He gets off over here. He's walking around like tipping the bike over. So, >> Okay. >> I go to get out with him and I was like, I was like, "Hey, man, what's going on?" I was like, "You got an ID on you?" I said, "You're out here revving your engine on your like, what's going on?" >> Yeah. >> He's like, "I'm not allowed to rev my engine." All this stuff. I was like, "Dude, >> Okay. >> do you have an ID or anything?" I like I'm going to cut you down, battle him down. He just starts walking over this way. And I said, "Hey, man." I said, "You're not going to" I said, "You're not going to sit here and walk away." I said, "You are detained right now until I figure out what's going on." I don't have who you are. You got your drunk someone over or anything. He starts walking this way. I said, "Hey, don't walk anywhere." I could tell he's about to fight, so I was trying to like keep it like chill. Well, he kept walking that way. And like he's like, "Don't put your finger on my face. I will bite your finger off." and all this So, I was like, "Okay." So, I pulled my taser out and I was like, "First, get the on the ground." He gets on the ground and I tase Okay. He's just acting a fool with the stuff. Okay. So, you got out of them cuz you got flag down, straddling the possibly signal possibly signal one. See how awful reason get out of it and get away. >> Yeah. >> All right. So, you want to do the signal one on him or you just want to do the uh resisting and assault on officer? >> resisting. >> And assault on officer. >> I will end your life. I'll do >> Okay. You can go ahead and get him on the cuz he just Play anything down, fighting or anything? >> No, he just like tenses up. You can see him like tensing up, but he's like, "I'm going over here." I said, "You're not going over there. You're detained." And he just kept walking, so I pulled my taser out. As soon as I pulled the taser out, he got on the ground. He complied, but I don't know what his deal was, man. He's like >> Let's run him. Is that his bike? >> Yeah. I think so. >> whole thing. Okay. >> Well, he's dude, he's like I don't know what his deal was. Like I was trying to be nice to him. He just starts getting all pissed off. Yeah. So, >> Do the resisting uh except if you want to do the assault on officer. >> I'm I'm not too worried about it. Yeah, he's like, "I will end your life." That was the weirdest encounter. He's like, "I will bite your finger off." I was like, "Woah." >> take all of it like a normal, you know, just a normal feeling that >> I love to see when the sergeant looks like they got some time on, comes to the scene, listens to the story, makes sure that the officer has all their ducks in line and they're doing everything by policy and within the law. And remember there's a thing called vicarious liability. The sergeant can also incur some liability if the officer does something wrong because the best sergeants are the ones that don't sit in the office for the whole shift, that they're out there on the street interacting with their officers and making sure that they're teaching them from the things that they know from their experience in the past. Good stuff. I really like what I'm seeing from this squad. >> All right, mister Joel. Looks like you are going to jail today for resisting an officer without violence. >> What? >> Um >> What? Dude, what? >> I got a couple questions. You're not really >> I'm not incriminating. Dude, I'm suing the Can you call my lawyer? >> Well, I don't need to >> Call my lawyer. Call my lawyer. Call my lawyer. >> Did you take anything? Do you have any medical necessity to be checked out by EMS right now? Okay, what did you take? >> I didn't take anything, man. >> Okay, so you don't have any medical necessity to be checked out. Okay, what are your medical needs? >> Dude, I need to get these Can I put the cuffs in front of me please? I have a blown out elbow, a blown out shoulder, a blown out ankle. >> Not right now. If you Listen, if you can calm down, we can work with you, but you I can hear you're all agitated. >> Dude, I didn't resist the police. >> Take a breath. Listen. You You saw me You saw me pull up, right? I didn't see anything prior to what happened. >> Please, we just Can I Can I put the my cuffs in front of me, please? Can I Please stand >> Take a breath. We'll We'll work on that in just a minute, okay? Do you have anybody that can come get your bike? I see it's got a Minnesota tag. Are you down here with any family or anything? Do you have any family down here? >> No. No. >> Do you know anybody that's local? >> I own a house that way. >> In Okaloosa County? >> Fort Fort Walton Beach. >> Fort Walton Beach. Okay. Do you have anybody who's living there with you, like a family member that can come take possession of your bike or anything? No one. Okay. >> Bro, I've been here for a long time. I just got back from like long deployment. Please get me out of these >> Where were you deployed at? >> Dude, I can't even tell you. >> Okay. Do you have any ID anywhere on your bike or anything? >> have I have a picture of it on my phone. Please, can I just Can I get out of these cuffs, please, man? >> Well, no, because you're going to jail, so >> For what? >> Resisting a law enforcement officer without violence. I just told you that. >> Resisting it? That's a jail-able offense? >> Yes, it is. It's a misdemeanor in the state of Florida. >> Come on, man. You're going to take me to jail for a misdemeanor, bro? Please. >> Yeah, oh, yeah. >> I'm a felon, doc. >> I take people to jail for >> Please, man. Don't do this. I don't have any money to bail out, either. >> Okay. >> Please, man. Please, dude. >> Okay, he said he just got back from a deployment and he can't talk about it. And then he also says that he's a felon. I don't know this man and I'm not investigating him, but those two things don't make sense together because what kind of unit is deploying felons? I've never ever heard of that. Another thing that's important is if you look here where his feet are. There are situations where an officer closes the door and the person puts their foot out and there have been broken feet, there have been cuts on the feet. You have to be really, really careful under the circumstances when a person has their foot like that, especially if they try to get out closing that door. You got to be super careful. >> I didn't know you could touch the >> That's why it's without violence. >> I don't know how I RESISTED. I WALKED AWAY. IT WASN'T AN ARREST. I ASKED YOU, "AM I UNDER ARREST?" You said, "No." I walked away. >> He told you you were detained. >> For what? For what, dude? Why, dude? Why is this happening to me? Please, dude. Please, brother. Please, get me the out of these cuffs, man. I'm hurting, dude. I needed to relax, but I just got home. >> So. I can't talk to you if you're yelling at me. All right, don't put your feet out of there. Put your feet in the car. Listen, you're going to turn into a next charge if I got to tell you to put your Put your feet in the car. Put your feet in the car. Listen. I'm not worried about you. Look at me, brother. I don't care. >> Hey, brother, why is this kid touching me? >> Cuz if I got to tell you to put your feet in the car again What are you talking about? >> Dude, the kid kicked me. I want to put my shoes on. I'm not even going to be cuffed, bro. >> going to jail. >> do anything. Why am I going to jail? >> I've already explained to you this whole thing. >> Read me my rights, please. >> I'm not asking you anything. I don't need to read you anything. >> why am I detained? Read me my rights. >> You are under arrest. You are not >> What am I arrested for? I have no ticket. I've not been Okay, please can I get out of this vehicle? >> No, you're not getting out of this cuz you're going to jail. >> For what? >> Would you like to speak to a supervisor? >> Yes, please. >> Dude, we have one here. >> What? >> Put your feet in the car. Move your knee. >> Why am I BEING ARRESTED? >> MOVE YOUR KNEE. >> HE WON'T STOP TO YOU. >> HUH? >> AH, he won't stop to you. He has no medical necessity to be checked out. >> Okay. >> He's refusing to listen to absolutely anything. He wants to get out of the car. He wants to take his feet out. I keep telling him put it in there. >> Okay. >> He's moving. I just had to push his foot in with my foot. I just shut the door on his knee cuz he's refusing to move it. He says he works for the government in some capacity. He's got no ID, but he also just told me he's a felon, so >> I think he doesn't work for >> no family local. >> Put the window down. >> A person acting like this, one minute calm, then the next minute going off. Most officers who watch this are going to tell you that you've got to be careful. A person like this will spit. >> All right, sir. Hey. All right, listen to me, all right? So, right now you're going to go to jail for obstruction, okay? Okay, listen to me. It's It's a simple resisting charge, okay? >> Yes, sir. No. >> Okay, you'll get a I understand, all right? All right, we're going to help you out, all right? So, um dude, my question is, do you have anybody who can come get your bike? Okay. Okay. No, no, wait. Yeah, we can't do that, all right? What's wrong with your shoulder? Okay. All right. I can't take the cuffs off you right now, okay? >> Von, I didn't do anything. I didn't touch anyone, Von. >> Listen to me. >> Why are you doing this to me, dude? >> Listen to me, okay? >> Von you. >> Okay. you. Don't spit on me. >> I didn't spit on you. >> You bitch-ass Take me to jail, then. >> Roll this up. >> Take me to jail, you pussy-ass >> Okay. >> Hey, now it's warrior time, sir. you. >> Don't spit on me. >> I didn't spit on you, Von. I spit next to you. >> Get the out of my face, you little >> Okay. >> Take me to jail, You bitch-ass >> We don't need to spit match right now, okay? >> What's up? >> Throw your window. >> I'm going to beat your ass. I'm going to come back and beat your ass. And I'll come back and I'll beat your >> Hey. Hey. >> I'M GOING TO KNOCK I'LL GO AHEAD. >> CALM DOWN. >> HEY, calm down. >> KNUCKLE UP, >> Calm down. >> I'm going to I'M DETAINING YOU. YOU. >> YEAH, you're going to jail. >> Yeah, TAKE ME TO JAIL, >> You're going. We're not going to fight it. >> You want to do a spit match? >> Not right now, all right? >> I might bite your finger off. >> All right. >> I'm leaving. >> So, um, I'm going to tell Ryan to go ahead and hit him with the assault on LEO. I think I I think he's going to do the pipe that was in his pocket. >> call the jail before you get up there. >> Yeah, it's just going to be a trick. All right. So, um Where's Ryan at? >> He's up there. He's up there. >> Hey, Ryan. >> Sir. >> Go and hit him up with the assault charge. >> Was he doing it again? >> Yeah. He He got everybody this time. So, just do the one count of assault on LEO. Okay? And the um resisting charge of that. He said he doesn't have anybody to come get the bike, so we're going to end up towing that. Okay? >> He's He's high as >> He's already going up north. >> His pupils are >> Um, if I had to guess, he's bipolar. Cuz he went from crying to like seriously pissed off like a light switch. >> me the whole time. So, yeah. I was trying to be nice at first. Like he's walking away. He's He goes, "Yes, sir." >> Okay, a lot of interesting things with this video and a lot of things to learn. And I've noticed that all the officers look alike. And I was just looking to see why they all had their mustache and they have a very similar look and I'm looking at the date and it's November. So, Movember, if you're not familiar with Movember, men grow mustaches during that month and I don't know I remember we used to do it on the squads that I was on. Police do it a lot and you grow mustaches and it's supposed to raise awareness to men's health issues. I don't know if that's why they did this, but if you're in that squad, please let me know if that's why because I was wondering that why everyone looked like that, but it looks like this is a video from November. But some things I'd like to discuss. The charges, it looked like they charged him with obstructing without violence according to original video and then it said looks like there may have been an assault charge as well and that could have been for the spitting. I'm not 100% sure cuz I don't have the official documentation. But this was something that was completely avoidable. If the guy had just interacted with the officer and explained to him what was going on, this could have likely been resolved. And he switched back and forth from so many different forms of behavior and you see what police have to deal with. It doesn't look like any of the officers took it personally, which is really really good. And something that I noticed from watching this video is that in policing in our reports, we very frequently will say through my training and experience. Now, is this a formal training that a person have right now? No, it's not formal, but when we watch videos, it's part of the experience that we have in life and seeing how people's behavior it's incredibly important. Doesn't only apply to policing, but learning about human behavior is really really interesting. And on that note brings me to today's very interesting coin which kind of actually relates to some of the things that I was talking about. The person did not give me permission to say their name. Please, if you do send a coin, please put a note in to say whether you want your name mentioned up cuz I do respect people's privacy. But look at this, this is a really interesting coin cuz this coin is like a very interesting. Let me explain why. Okay, this is from the OIG and I'm going to tilt it so you could see it. So, California Highway Patrol Inspector General. That's why it's like this magnifying glass. Honor, knowledge, character, integrity, judgment, loyalty, and courtesy. Inspector General, California Highway Patrol. And I hope that you could see that cuz it's really really cool. So, it's like a magnifying glass. So, this is the Office of Inspector General for the California Highway Patrol. Office of Inspector General. So, they are actually the people that if there is a complaint or an issue with the police and something that the police have done, they investigate the police. So, it's a really interesting department to work for and they do phenomenal work in keeping police honest and keeping us to work up to our highest standards is what we seek in policing and it says the foundation of excellence is sustained by the virtue of integrity. So, that's really really good stuff and I truly appreciate this one adding it to our collection. The other thing I like is that it gives young aspiring officers the opportunity to say there are other departments that I can work for that I never even heard of and this is one of them. The one year anniversary is coming. In honor of the one year anniversary, we have the giveaway that's coming up which is for an officer in a department of 100 officers or less.
