on May 30th 2024 a deputy from the wallworth county sheriff's department attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation when he activated his emergency lights the driver began to flee before another deputy was able to successfully do a pit maneuver 523 it's going to be a male white driver female white passenger they were smoking something I saw when I was driving uh the female was putting a lighter up to the male they smoking something we're still eound on coming up to County F North [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Geneva am I you're now [Music] EA put your hands up graduation just put your hands off turn off the car right now put your fcking hands up hands up hands up turn off the stay in the car hands up your hands up hands up put your hand up get youring hands out of there we're going to set a dog in the car punch your hands up I'm sorry walk backwards shut the up and step backwards don't reach your walk right here to the back of your car is this really happen yeah you're going to get dog bit I don't want to get dog I love then shut your mouth and listen put your hands on the trunk don't move no hey keep your hands on the trunk sorry he's going to tear you up if you can put your hands toward your waist again have her come out the driver door out the driver's door right now crawl out the driver's door and lay on the ground not listen you're going to get bit by the with yeah I guess just hang out for now I got to ID the female ma'am I need to get your information you have an ID in the car can you give me your name verbally okay did you what were you guys going in that car were you smoking math no still no we're not smoking math I'm borrowing a car from my friend the problem is he doesn't have a license he drove for me cuz I had a drink he doesn't have a license he doesn't have a license and he drove for me CU I had a drink do you understand that that would have just been a traffic ticket I don't he told me that he was suspended and he was going to go to prison for a one time okay suspended is just like 150 ticket I didn't know this okay and so I told him to go cuz I didn't want him to go to prison so you told him to take off from us yeah okay okay I appreciate your honesty do you know why she told him to take off for me she just told me cuz he's suspended that's why yeah uh let me get these people added my I got my sandwich is going to be so cold BL ice we're not missing ice cream again dude if we need tools to pull it to remove the okay what do you need can you get in there with a socket rench trap homemade with two big mans in it yeah it's a trap box yeah was anything in it no but homade big magnets so passenger admitted all the booze was her P C said the blue bag's hers you got a h [Music] again so what's what so P I asked why they ran and she said because it's not their car they didn't know what's in the car and that because he doesn't have a license and cuz she's on Bond and can't have police contact um I asked about the objects that I could see from talking to her she said that all the booze is hers yeah um I asked about the cup with the sippy straw she said she has no idea what that is she said the blue bag is hers but she everything in the blue bag she doesn't know if it's yeah so um no just he can go for fleeing alluding and whatever ow you get out of him and whatever they they can be they can both they can both be part yeah you know what not alcohol cuz I saw him smoking that and I saw her go take him for a blood Dr yeah and if he doesn't consent you write up the warrant and I'm not I'm not really concerned about not getting the warrant on this one okay yep so um so I'll do thewi felony fing and looting and all my traffic stuff don't forget reckless driving in there okay is it would it constitute Reckless endangering endanger no it's reckless driving just had that traffic ticket on there yep yep yep Reckless Drive like they they cut through at least two yards and the park but can I can I all the traic stuff I saw oh yeah like yeah like disobeying her the red light all this stuff you do all the yep all the traffic stuff the the yard at the um southwest corner of wallworth and park okay um your drugs are going to be CU was in the once we can get this out where's the seat in between the Center Council and the seat there's probably ounce ounce and a half a crack or meth a clearance it's kind of like just for safety and there so you know it's not like you like croak over in the jail and then it becomes like our problem you know what I mean sure so I'll be honest though man you freaked me out a little bit when you got out of the car with those aviators on why you were just like you look like this one movie character man I can't even remember like who this what this was from but let me uh started go ahead you know sometimes I'll I'll just say this sometimes life gets boring and uh why not make it a movie I'm just joking it's a joke a total joke all I just uh weird stress off you that like you did something and then you have a guilt almost of lying about it or or making things like you're already in a situation where you're you're like in a in a in a bad situation like like not cooperating or lying about anything like it doesn't really it it's just going to delay everything you know what I mean and that's that's for everything too man not just like this this is for like just life in general cuz you get into something and like I mean I don't even know how how many times I can tell you like I know so many people that have just like they made situations worse from them cuz it's like you know they don't just like be real about it but if you be real about it dude I mean think about it you got like you feel better about it at the end of the Theft Auto I felt it was like you had five stars man like you were full-blown I was in the grass in the ditch up on the road waiting for the helicopters and can I have your birthday how you doing they you changing your mind and you're now saying no well even if it's against your religion I'll tell you right now we will obtain a warrant to draw your blood given it like I said given everything that let's go in there take a seat on the bench right there a search of the vehicle revealed over 2 O of cocaine Daniel was found guilty for vehicle operator fleeing or eluding an officer operating while intoxicated third offense and operating while revoked charges for possession with intent to deliver cocaine greater than 40 gr and second degree recklessly endangering safety were dismissed in court Daniel was sentenced to 1 and 1/2 years in the Wisconsin State Prison 120 days at the wallworth county jail 3 and 1/2 years of Probation and he was ordered to pay $2,400 in fines the female passenger Megan is is currently in custody on multiple drug charges from an incident that occurred on a different date hey Dan how you doing want to come in here with us sure just have a seat in the chair on the left for us be better I'm just waking up here so yeah I appreciate you getting up early to meet me man um I didn't even know I was meeting you guys they just woke me up yeah so I was uh I know I I dealt with you the last couple days on kind of normal hours man but I was forced over to midnight shift here due to kind of our staffing issues so I get off at 6:00 a.m. so I'm trying to make this just as reasonable for you as possible I didn't want to obviously come bother you at like 2: in the morning and stuff so didn't even know your Co what's going on well I want to thank you for being cooperative with me and my co-workers so far um sure you know like I told you before when we went to Lakeland you got to be probably one of the most Cooperative people I've arrested in my career so um I just wanted to ask you a couple more questions kind of just to piece this all together um so like I said once again man I appreciate your honesty and cooperation so um I kind of just came up with some questions I just wanted to ask you this stuff so before I do that I got to read you this again okay you have the right to remain silent anything you say can will be used against you in a court of law do you understand all those yes all right man you want to talk to me again what do you what are you guys trying to ask me I just got a couple questions about the incident um and this will probably be other than the deputy Turner um with what he was talking to you about um this is just kind of the last time that you'll um deal with me so I just came up with some stuff so um so when I was when I was behind you on 43 before I pulled you over um I was next to you when you were driving and I was and watching you and Megan's behavior in the vehicle and so I saw Megan hand you with what I thought was a water bottle at first um she then reached over with the lighter and lit the water bottle and you were smoking a substance when so when you saw me it looked like you put it down when we searched the vehicle we obviously found that bottle and it had drug perinel and residue on it which was consistent with crap cocaine which was also found in the vehicle um I'm just curious how how did you guys make that device I didn't make it I didn't see it made so I don't know you don't know no um she got it from someone she add it or what so I don't know that's just honest okay what and this is just like what what type of drug you smoke out of that device was it the crack cocaine residue that that was consistent with what we found is it meth on it heroin F now like what do you what what's the drug choice that you that you would smoke out of there well I usually I usually do cocaine um you smoke it though smoke cocaine um like what were you smoke what was in that device was it the crack cocaine that you smoke um I mean we found that obviously we have the thing in our evidence I'm just asking for your honesty man no yeah well I mean cuz like I don't usually with good things so like um I don't know like I think they'd be more of a question to ask Megan but you were smoking it did so what did she give you um well wasn't any of those things that you saying what drug was it for that thing yeah that pipe I'm just waking up man I barely remember that didn't even want be chased or anything like that I wanted to just pull the side but I've been having these issues lately with so let me ask you this voices and stuff so what what is your drug a choice when you use drugs you said cocaine I Like Cocaine okay do you dab with um how do you use cocaine I usually just snort cocaine snort it yeah you don't smoke it no usually um so how often do you use socially every day once a week not not often because I was sober for for quite a while i' fallen off my sobriety so being honest so yeah just out of curiosity you said you were in when did you when did you relapse and what caused you to relapse um I had a beer and someone they give me a a breathalizer and I and i' had blown like a 04 so it fell off and ended up in um I ended up in Twin Lees staying in a hotel and then I got back I end up getting back with Megan eventually started dabbling with drugs with Megan no I wasn't really dabbling with drugs at the time I was just drinking at the time but i' gotten back into drugs actually just recently I was not doing anything up until prior so okay um I was sober for a good six months on on on um drugs okay uh what what were you smoking one I and he's just sitting in here because he just wanted to observe how how one of these goes but what were you smoking when I saw you smoking um in the car I usually smoke cigarettes and do cocaine that uh device I I barely ever I don't know much about it and when when if you did if you did see me try to smoke out of it well I saw you smoking out of it I was trying to it didn't really do anything for me so I'm not completely sure if that device works as well as you think it does okay so did you use any drugs that day uh Sor cocaine ear day snorted coke earlier yeah but I mean what about like if you had to save from when I tried pulling you over when were you when did you last snort [Music] cocaine I couldn't tell you man no was it in Belo when you guys want to go pick up I I don't remember okay after I arrested you that night and you consented we went and got your blood drawn what uh if you had to guess what drug is going to show up in your blood when they run a drug panel on your blood I don't know go probably alcohol alcohol probably I'm not sure how much did you drink that day I don't know man well you said you snorted cocaine would there be cocaine in your blood maybe I'm not sure depends on what that comes back in the test man you're asking me all these questions I mean obviously they're all going to come back well eventually so you led me and my co-workers on this kind of wild police chase do you really didn't want well but do you think the drugs were affecting your ability to think straight in that situation most definitely okay um if you were sober do you believe you would have pulled over a not ran yes most definitely sorry that's all right I'm just taking notes I know I was going to be bombarded with all these questions no and this should be the last time that I have to ask you this stuff I just so um not a problem would you say that being high on drugs affected your ability to safely operate a motor vehicle probably okay I appreciate your honesty man you you've been like I dude I've never arrested somebody probably that's more straightforward and cool as you so I appreciate it you you're helping me learn a lot too so um regarding the other other innocent drivers on the road and people do you think driving through the park like you did and going through people's yards and running a red light I kind of took my time it wasn't like I was going crazy to be honest with you yeah I don't think you were taking your time go do 41 years old and well I mean like there was nothing in front of me but grass let me ask you this is it normal for people to drive through a park not unless they're getting chased by five cops okay do you think though that going through the park and driving the way you were put innocent people out there at risk well if there were more people around me but yeah I understand exactly where you're coming from but yeah when I would not be in that Park if it wasn't for everybody around me making me feel claustrophobic and whatever I had a lot going on what about the other people driving on the road do you think put those people at risk by your behavior of driving like that there was a lot of cops chasing me and it made me worry about what I mean you C you caught a lot you made some people drive in the ditch to avoid hitting you and stuff so would you say that you were you're driving behavior put their their safety at risk I think it was all the lights and everything that made people pull over can I ask you something um I I know you said you're using you're using some kind of drugs is it possible that maybe you were going faster than you thought you were because of the drug use no that car was pretty slow for it wasn't Plymouth breze man it wasn't like you know for yeah yeah I'm just thinking that maybe if you're impaired things are happening slower or faster than what you think they are no I I think that it was the car was in between 80 90 m per hour it wasn't going very much further which is pretty fast but I mean for sure on Highway and I know I should I should have just pulled over and and and all that but my my judgment was very much off so um apologize for everything and I just want to get everything done and and back home just so see exactly what I can do to get out of here cuz $115,000 is a very high bail you know even for someone this is my first time um in this situation Megan's first time in a situation just uh recently her bail was only $500 mine's $15,000 but I guess you know I was endangering the lives of other by driving like an [ __ ] so goe you think you're endangering the lives of others by the your behavior apparently you're asking me questions about endangering others I mean I mean questions so when my coworker got you or got you to stop by hitting your vehicle with his squad car which is called the pit maneuver that I know but the thing is that the car like I hit a sewer cap yeah and and the car was dead oh so when he did that and got you to stop you were uncooperative at first how come you did not immediately comply with our commands I was trying to smoke a cigarette because I knew it was my last cigarette and I was sitting the car was gone everything was done and uh complying I was still trying to figure out what was going on okay would you say that your mind was altered by drugs which caused you to make a poor decision by running from law enforcement and putting the public at risk probably man okay and I'm asking that because I'll tell you out of the are he going to help me in court or anything like that all these questions that you're asking me or is it just just I mean your your honesty I mean you think about it if you go before a judge and stuff and I mean I don't know how they operate and I can't speak for them but being honest and and stuff is I don't think it's it's not going to hurt your case it shows that you have remorse for your situation right um obviously obviously out of the out of listen out of the Thousand traffic stops I've probably done in my career um 99% of the people as soon as you hit those lights sometimes it takes a little bit of a siren but that's maybe because they're older or the sun's behind them or something um they pull over for us so that's why this information is just information to gather too because um in a situation like this you know we don't we don't have this happened that much and if there's something else that was on board like for example being high or under the influence of I've never done it before so here you go never ran from the cops like that before yeah so um I'm 41 years old I believe yeah you see you seem very remorseful man so yeah it's not like you're coming in here and swearing at us saying when you when you did uh used Coke that day was was you were drinking and and using Coke was that when you went to go pick up in blit um I or did you just do it in the car with Megan I don't remember be honest with you it was a long day okay remember so you would say that your memory is kind of faded would that be because of well I don't think everybody remembers exactly when they do drugs or anything like that XYZ I think it's just like okay I remember doing something that day but I don't remember exactly when well cocaine is a stimulant drug right it gives you like it gets you it gives you that boost of energy right so when you do Coke or when you smoke Coke Coke's not that good Coke used to be better 20 years ago well so let's and you smoke Coke you get behind the wheel the police try to pull you over you get that rush to just take smoke Coke I snort cocaine okay and when you see me with the bottle thing I what was did she was she like hey take a hit of this like you know like high school kids where they're like hey take a hit not to a big fan of the the bottle thing you should ask her more questions about exact well she's she's the complete opposite of you man um she doesn't want to help us or talk to us or anything so it's kind of like a well you know I mean like it's kind of like her her thing not mine and I don't really I'm not really into the whole I understand it's her thing but she gave it to you and was letting try it to try it and it was barely a try cuz I was driving and I'm telling you that so when you were in when you were in this Lane I was right here and I was watching you try this with my own eyes so I just wanted to know what what were you trying was it crack cocaine that was being smoked out of there what if she had prepared in her like okay so I I and she prepared It Whatever whatever what was her drugs of choice usually what does she use man you know I I think that you guys should ask her I she doesn't like to talk to us well it's her right it's her right and you know what it's her story I don't want to be a that guy okay but so she you were just trying I'm very I'm very helpful with you guys and I think that I've given you way more than than probably what Mega would like me to give you you know um I just want to go home and I don't think any of this is going to help me go home you're asking me questions about drugs and things like that it's pretty straightforward I just I'm trying to also understand I I want to understand why you ran from us I want to understand and I and I wish I could tell you like I'm still in jail well consequences I'm giving you guys all these all this information and nothing's happen for me on my end when's your court hearing do you have one the 76th or 76th I think okay so four days or 3 days something like that I don't know what today was third today's the third what's is it a minary hearing what is it I'm not sure okay and it's before it's in yeah is it in person or on Zoom what is it I'm not sure probably in Zoom I'm not completely sure okay um I just wanted to ask you this stuff because I wanted to well I just wanted to know if you understand that you put the public at risk with your behavior well you know the public would have been more at risk if I didn't have lights behind me I was D you know so wow that that would help people to move over if I was coming with no lights no nothing if I was just H my head out the window saying move out of my way probably would probably not be as probably be a lot more dangerous so I guess those a little bit less dangerous for people if they know lights and lights and things are going on for people to move over you would think they move over but sometimes they don't move over for moving over just fine depends on the driver mhm a good thing I wasn't doing 180 I was doing you know 70 607 years I just I mean you said you said you were there probably going to be alcohol and Coke that come back in your blood so I just wanted to know what if you were high on coke and that's why you acted like that that's I think I was because I was scared and I didn't have a license and that was a conclusion you want my honest opinion man I already told you this the license stuff is that's the reason but that's I told you that would have been a ticket that's what you said at first you didn't say anything about that bong until later on that night well you want to know why I think you ran is because there are 60 grams of cocaine in that car crack 60 gr 60 grams of Co about 60 grams of cocaine in that car 50 something and some change I wish I that well guess what that that that's the piece that doesn't add up there was that in there there was she you know had at the LSD and her wallet um I didn't know about her LSD it's not my w crack rocks in the car open alcohol all over the place drug paraphilia that she said that she was the one drinking well you also just told me you were drinking that day too man I had a beer way earlier that day okay um is there any other information about your behavior that day or anything that I should know in order to help me with this investigation that I did not ask you I don't know you asked me pretty much a lot is there anything that you want to explain to us that we might not understand like here's the thing I'm sorry that Iran and I just want to go home and if you can help me do that I'll give you more information okay well I don't I don't know what else other information that I can I mean I'm I don't know you're I like your buddy Turner said he was going to come talk to me sometime today uh today's Monday correct it's it's now Monday at 5:30 the morning they don't usually come until 9:00 or something they work like you know yeah 9 to 9 to 5 10 to 6 I don't know what they work but if he said he was going to do that he's he's a man of his word he should he should come down and do that um I just want to get back to work and [ __ ] like that and I don't want to worry about drugs alcohol and speeding and all this other [ __ ] I just want to get back I understand you say you don't know that but you know you did cuz you did it you're apologizing for running no I'm apologizing yeah for for speeding running and all that stuff but I was just I was scared man I get it man but and you know what and you're honest you've been honest with me the whole time like if you said hey hey man listen like I was high as a kite driving a car you guys freaked me out the drugs messed with my brain and I took off from you guys I would document that and that would be the end of it okay sounds good that I mean that's basically what happened High scared didn't know what to do it's confused okay sorry just ready how high do you think you were the levels that U I don't know um high enough to go holy [ __ ] Gotta Go gota Go Gotta Go joking I'm just joking um I I really couldn't tell you a level cuz I was just scared out of my mind man even if scared because you were going to get caught being high driving no scared because I just didn't think this know what I was thinking well high enough high enough to run run us right I I don't know what I was thinking high enough to like not pull over so okay anything else you want to say or no about you being under the influence drugs no I think running from us putting the public at in danger no I think I I think I said my piece pretty much I mean there's not much you can add to that okay I appreciate your honesty man um yeah I'm going to do a supplemental Report with with what you told me and um you know like I said I don't I'm not a judge I'm not a prosecutor they have all they have access to all this stuff in court and during their you know when a DA reviews it and the defense gets access to this and stuff and one of the things that you know they they look for is people who are remorseful on stuff so it it seems like you're remorseful on this just by cooperating and and you know consenting to everything so far and and um answering questions and being you know being honest and straight up about it so um obviously there's probably a little bit more detail but I get it man you're scared We're Cops we intimidate you sometimes but that's not that's not the goal here so I appreciate it but if you don't have anything else man that's you just got to kind of wait it's a waiting game until you have that Court dat and stuff but okay um I can't really give you legal advice but I would say that keep doing what you're doing especially in the courtroom because that stuff goes a long way in that aspect so aw all right man
