You want to take my bro? Leave me the alone. You don't have to be this way. >> Look at the way you're doing it, bro. Stop choking me, bro. >> Many people don't realize the amount of information that police can gather by simply running a plate on the computer in the car. Whether the car is registered, if the person has citations or warrants, and sometimes even the photograph of the driver when stopped, being rude and obnoxious when confronted by the police is the worst thing that can happen because likely you'll end up going to jail. This is one of those. >> Hello. You do a favor in the back of the car for now. What do you mean? >> 11:00 >> on 46 at the 7-Eleven. >> What What law did I break? >> What law did I break? Can I get you? What law broke? >> What do you mean? >> I didn't break a >> I just got my insurance just right now. What do you mean, sir? >> Just hop back in your car real quick. We'll explain it to you. >> Bringing a sergeant over here. >> Yeah, just get back in your car. >> Do I have to get back in my car? >> Yeah. Yes, you do. Get back in your car and we'll figure it out. Sit down. >> Is it safer to have the person get back in the car or have them come to the front of your vehicle? Because obviously the vehicle has not been checked for any weapons inside of it. It's debatable. We'll see what happens. >> Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Wait. Wait one second. You guys didn't even pull me over. Can we get 103? >> You guys didn't pull me over. Okay. I want a sergeant here. I don't answer questions. >> Not talking anymore. Listen to us. >> I don't answer questions. >> You don't have to answer anything. >> I don't answer questions. >> Listen. >> No, I ain't listening to I don't have to listen to you. >> No, I don't. >> Okay. At this point, this is a traffic stop. So, >> I didn't get pulled over. I just got out of the car. You guys didn't pull me over. >> I didn't get pulled over, sir. Okay. >> You guys didn't pull me over. >> Driving on the roadway. You don't have a valid license? >> I got a valid license. I got insurance. You guys want my insurance? I I got I paid my insurance. >> License, we'll see that. If you have your vehicle registration, we'll see that. And if you have >> Can I get a sergeant over here, sir? >> Sure. Sergeant is on the way over. I >> I got the car. You guys went around a circle. You guys are looking at me like I'm I'm like a criminal. We We'll record this together. >> You guys body cam on? >> Yes, sir. It is. >> So, this guy's likely guaranteed himself at least a ticket. And what's interesting is the configuration of how they're operating here with the female officer directly on the other officer. She could be in field training and this could be a field training stop where there's an FTO field training officer and she's the trainee. >> What's your badge number? >> Have you given us your driver's license? >> What's your badge number? Insurance? What's your badge number? >> We're not doing that yet. >> Yes, we are. >> Have you given us your driver's license, your registration for insurance? Cuz there things going to happen. Three things going to happen right now. Either you're going to give us that information we're asking for or you're going to go to jail with us. We told you you're done with a sergeant, sir. Please. told you're dying with a suspended who I am. Are you listening? >> You just you just you just already think this is me. >> You're dying with a suspended license. That's against the law in state of Florida, right? >> Sir, I got I got my insurance. >> Give us your license. Your registration insurance. >> I got my insurance. >> Give it to us. >> I got my insurance. I'm going to give it to the sergeant when he gets here. >> Give it to us. We're doing the traffic. We're deputy sheriff's on scene right now. >> You guys just rolled around and you guys just ran up on me. I'm nervous. You guys have guns. You guys are at my door. Can I close my door? >> Sir, at this point, you need to give us your identification. Okay. This is a traffic stop. So, you need your ID right now. >> Ma'am, I need to speak to a sergeant. I'm not answering any questions. >> Okay. At this point, this is a traffic stop. Okay. We need your identification. >> I appreciate that. >> Okay. You guys got ran up on me. I'm late for work. >> Calm down. Take a breath. >> I'm not I'm not running from you guys. >> The reason for the stop is we ran your I need a sergeant. I need a sergeant. I don't need to answer your questions. >> You're refusing to cooperate. >> I'm not refusing to cooperate. You guys ran up. I just got out the car. >> Apparently, you're refusing to cooperate. >> I didn't run out the car. I got I got I work in this in this building out of the car. Okay, we understand that you work here. We conducted a Listen, guys. You guys stop over here. I got out the car. You guys >> conducted a traffic stop. Okay. Your license plate is coming back. The driver is suspended. >> You guys didn't even You should have pulled me over in the road when I was driving. >> I didn't commit a crime where we pulled you over. >> You guys got me nervous. >> You guys are giving me >> Listen, sir. You're nervous because you're uncooperative. >> Let's pause right here and I want to go back just a little bit. If you look at the female officer's hand, you'll see that her hand is trembling. That's not that she's afraid of this person. It's just a natural energy. Sometimes people's hands just tremble. What I do have a challenge with is that this positioning is not safe for an misdemeanor car stop when we have either yes people, maybe people, or no people. This is a maybe to a no person, and this subject should have their hands on the steering wheel if they're not providing information. Ask for a sergeant only one. I've seen some people ask, "Is it by law you have to have a supervisor?" No, it's not by law. Some departments have a policy like that. Not all. It's a courtesy when they ask for it, but for the most part, it's a good practice for that to happen. I'm gonna show you. I can't look at my phone right now because I'm recording. I'm going to show you my insurance that I paid yesterday. >> I have not yet showed it. Your insurance, your driver's license >> because you guys jumped on top of me. I just got out the car. >> Show your driver's license, registration, or insurance. So, you are currently violating the law again. >> So, now >> how am I violating the law? I want to speak to a sergeant. I don't know what I did wrong. Refusing to cooperate. >> I don't know what I did wrong. >> Uncooperating with lawful commands. That's what you're currently. >> What am I What do you mean? >> We need your identification. >> What are you talking about? >> I'm asking for your identification. >> I want to speak to a sergeant. Please. You guys don't You guys just just jumped on top. >> Listen, nobody jumped on top of you. We conducted a traffic stop. >> You didn't You didn't pull me over. I was just walking out the car. >> No, we conducted a traffic out the car. >> This is a traffic stop. Do you understand? >> You just got me in the back of the car. I was back. I'm late for work. >> There's no imaginary zone that you are no longer involved in a traffic stop. If the police stop, you don't get like some kind of safe zone or like in tag a base where you can touch base and you're safe. You get stopped by the cops, you have to interact with them. >> I'm I'm requesting a sergeant. >> That's okay. They're coming. >> Okay. Hey, I'm waiting in front of the cop so I can give them my information. You guys, I don't know. You guys are jumping. You have >> the freedom to wait for a sergeant to get here. >> What do you mean, sir? You said I can. You said you come here. >> I said it's okay. You don't want to listen to us. That's fine. Give me your driver's license now. This is a lawful command. >> And this and lawful command last time. >> In threat of arrest. >> Yes. You're going to jail. >> Okay. In threat of arrest, I I have to I give you my license. >> You're going to jail. In threat of arrest giving us a driver's license, >> sir. I hope your body cam's been on this whole time >> because I did not you did not pull me over, sir. >> Watch you driving on the road. >> You watch me? pulled in behind you and pulled >> and he went around in a circle and I got out the car >> safe position where our cameras on the car can see you. >> Sorry, you guys didn't >> and we initiated a traffic stop on >> this would have been solved if you just gave us your ID. Honestly, >> you would have had a ticket. >> I just requested a sergeant. >> Yes, we understand that. But we are requesting your identification. You need to give us Yes, you need to give me your identification to do so. You're driving on suspended >> driving suspended license currently. You're not compliant with lawful demands. We already told you all this. >> I wasn't tra I was traveling. I wasn't driving, sir. I was walking in the street. >> You haven't given us your driver's license. You're telling us you >> I didn't commit no crime. >> Are you telling me that you were not driving your vehicle on the roadway? >> Are you going to tell me you pulled me over driving? >> Are you telling me you were not driving your motor vehicle on the roadway when we pulled in behind you just now? Is that what you're telling? >> I'm not answering any of your questions. >> Okay, then no answer. That's >> okay. Are you going to give me your ID or no? >> I am going to give you my ID. >> Give it to me now. >> Under threat of arrest, right? >> So, he's throwing in some sovereign stuff in here and I do not believe that he's a sovereign. I believe that he's just throwing in some of that stuff to try to confuse them or try to elongate the time until the sergeant arrives, thinking he can maybe talk his way out of it with the sergeant, but that's some sovereign jargon. He's been throwing some of the traveling also. I heard that earlier. >> You got my bag. >> Let me Is it in your bag? >> Yeah. >> All right. Pull your bag over here. >> My bag. I got my weapons. I got my my fanny pack in here. My sergeant on the way because I feel >> I feel threatened. >> I got to pause here. I not let that guy reach inside of the bag. These are just constructive critiques. I believe she's in field training. There's an FTO that's right there. Reaching inside the bag like that, especially with a maybe to no [music] person, is not an ideal way to deal with this type of situation. >> I don't care about your registration or your insurance. I need your ID. >> I just got my insurance yesterday. >> Listen to me. I do not need your registration. Okay? Give me your ID now. >> Here you go. >> You guys have now provide your registration, please. >> On the threat of arrest, I have to do all this. >> Whatever you're saying doesn't make sense. >> On the threat of arrest, >> you're going to jail. There's no threat of arrest. >> They threatened me. I'm going to jail. You guys You guys are refusing me a sergeant. >> The sergeant's on the way. >> Yo, you're refusing. You say I'm going to jail no matter what. Mr. Williamsave the address. >> What's your What's your um badge number? >> Uh deputy lat 125001. >> And what's your badge number? >> You're getting on. >> Is it relevant? >> Yep. You're getting on. >> What's your badge number? >> You're getting >> What's your badge number, sir? >> You're not even listening. >> You're not going to tell me your badge. She just told me her name and her badge number. And you're refusing. That's what you going to tell the judge. I can't read. >> You can't read? So, how you driving? That's okay. Tell me you can't read. See, >> I can't read. >> Why can't you read? >> You going to tell the judge that? Can you read? Can you look right here? >> Can you read a stop sign? >> Can you read right here? >> Can you read a stop sign? >> I'm waiting for the [ __ ] god. How about that? >> How am I threatening? >> I'm waiting for the sergeant. >> How am I threatening you? >> Cuz you're a [ __ ] >> Okay. >> You're a [ __ ] >> You're a [ __ ] >> Where's your registration insurance? >> You're a registration insurance. >> You're a [ __ ] bro. I walking right here. >> That doesn't hurt me. >> This is not helping. >> You told me they can give me your badge number. Registration insurance. >> Leave me the alone, bro. >> Registration insurance. Let's go. >> Shut the [ __ ] up. >> Registration insurance. Let's go. >> Shut the up. I I wasn't evening driving, you [ __ ] idiot. >> Registration insurance. >> We're past that, sir. You >> drive. I was walking out car. You guys were in my >> Shut the [ __ ] up. >> Here's mying insurance. >> Okay. Step out. >> Hey, sir. Hey. Hey. I want to get out. I'm going to get out. I'm going to get out. I'm going to get out. I'm going to get out. I'm going to get out. I'm going to get out. I'm get out. I'm going to get out. I'm going to get out. I'm going to get out. I'm going put my stuff in my stuff. >> Drop it on the floor. I don't care. >> Sir, you you see what you're doing right now. You got to resist. >> See what you're doing, sir? >> I know exactly what I'm doing. >> You think you're hard? You got your little weapon. >> I think I'm doing my job and I think you're one of those people that go to jail today. >> Get my [ __ ] out of here and close my door. >> We will close my door. >> We'll figure all that out. You're not giving us any tomorrow. You're done. >> Shut the [ __ ] up. I don't even talk to you. Get the off me. Who's a sergeant here? >> Where's a sergeant? >> I've been requesting a sergeant. He didn't want to give me one. >> Where are you? They're coming. >> Get the off of me, bro. Hey, what happened? >> Stay over there, ma'am. >> I got it. Can you get my phone? Can you give her my phone? >> Do you want it to go with you to the jail or do you want it to go with her? >> You know, we would do stuff for you if you were cooperative. Okay. So, just >> got it. >> Shut the >> Do you want phone to go with you to the jail or with her? >> I want my phone to go with her. >> Okay. >> I have no license. I got my friends yesterday and that's why they're mad. >> Yeah. >> You dumb [ __ ] >> Take his necklace off. >> Don't take it off. Leave it on. It's my property. Give me the my lack of this. Don't touch my [ __ ] >> You can't take that into the jail. >> I guess I can't. I'll give it to them and my property. What do you mean? Take You want to take my bro? Leave me the alone. Come on. You >> have to be this way. >> Look at what you doing, bro. Stop choking me, bro. >> I'm excited to see how the sergeant is going to respond to this guy when he arrives at the scene cuz this guy's still amped up. >> Roll that window up. I don't even listen to him. We tried to do a traffic stop and he got out of the car, was very uncooperative, um immediately was combative and saying that he doesn't want to give us his identification and then he started like shuffling through paperwork. Um and that's really it just so we um we pulled up next to him and said driver's license, >> right? >> Put up next to a confirmed identity. We both in here follow instead of stopping right here cuz that's not safe for somebody to pull up with a control car. came up, let's stop things, put our lights on, he hopped out of the car. What am I? What are y'all doing? Did I break any laws? Apparently a guy with no valid license. Get back in your car. We'll break into I have to get back in my car, get back in your car, was like, "Well, [ __ ] you." Blah blah blah. So personalized. >> So he goes to jail for resistance. >> Exactly. >> And then even when he got back in his car eventually, he still wouldn't provide his driver's license registration, start opening his camera, recording, not comply with lawful commands he was explaining to. >> Okay. >> So that's that. >> Tow the car. >> They said they're okay with the car state. >> No, tow the car. So, we heard them talk about the traffic charges. The sergeant said the resisting charge and the car gets towed. This kind of behavior does not make any sense. If the police officers are talking to you in a respectful manner, there's absolutely no reason why you shouldn't provide information unless you want it to end up like this. But, I'd love for this video to go out to people who would potentially act this way towards police when they're being pulled over because it's not going to be a win situation. The police have an extraordinary amount of discretion and that can be discretion that leans either in your favor or against you. And behavior like this is never going to lean in your favor. So, I hope that this guy makes better choices and stops acting the way that he's acting because it was completely against what a male adult should act in a respectful manner.
