Come stand right here for me. All right. >> You can do what? >> Nope. We're going to start. We're going do bunch of different exercises with you. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. About five exercises. >> What I'm going to do is I ask you some questions first. Okay. However, I'm going to give you some instructions to how I want you to stand for the first exercise. Okay. Step out where that to onto that line. >> Okay. >> No. Put both feet on it. I want you to stand like this on the line. >> Okay. >> See how my feet are? Take your hands out your pockets. I know it's cold. Put them down here by your side like this. Okay. I want you to hold that position. Okay. Oh, I don't want you to fall over. You can look at me. >> I have epilepsy. It's impossible. >> See where your head's at? It's facing me. I'm going to move this left, right, up, and down, and in a circle multiple times. Okay. When I move it left, right, up, and down, in a circle. I want you to keep your head right where it's at, and just follow with your eyes. You understand what I'm saying? Do you have any questions about that? >> Just follow the red light in front of you. >> Just follow the red light with your eyes and keep your head still. >> When I move it this way, I don't want your head to turn. I want your head that you want >> I want your eyes to follow it only. Okay. I know what you want. >> All right. Right. All right. For this one, I'm going to go around your head in a circle twice. >> And what I'm going to do is I'm going to bring my pen in towards your nose. I'm try my best not to touch your nose. Okay? But when I bring it in, I need your eyes to stay focused on the pen the whole time. I'm going in a circle and I bring it in toward your nose. Good. >> You understand that? >> All right. Try and try and stay where you're at, sweetheart. Right here. >> Yep. No, I want you to stay standing right where I had you the first time. Right on the line. Okay. >> Remember, just keep your head still and follow with your eyes only. All right. >> Good for your for your brain. >> Okay. You can relax. I do. >> Yep. You can relax for a second. Don't sit down, though. Just relax. Stay in normal if you want to. Take your left foot, put it on the end of the line like you have it now. Okay. Your left foot's right where I want it to be. Okay. >> Okay. >> Then you're going to take your right foot and you're going to put it on the line in front of your left foot with your heel touching your toe. >> How fast do I get to go? >> I'm You don't need to go. You go as fast as you're comfortable. Don't start yet. Okay. >> It's going to be hard. You know that, right? >> I want you to put your hand All right. Put your hands down by your side for me. So, left foot front, right foot in front of it. So we got left foot. >> Okay. >> And put your hands down by your side. >> I need to count. >> Put your hands down by your side. >> Go. And go ahead and count your first step from heel to toe is one. >> I'll grab myself. So I can start like this. >> Start. Count your first step from heel to toe is one. >> Two. Can't keep my balance. Can I start over? >> No. We're going to just stop that one. Okay. >> Why not? >> We're just going to stop that one. Okay. >> My ankle from the car in the water. >> I don't want you to just fall over. Okay. >> I'm not going to fall over. So, we got a bunch we got a bunch more to go. Okay. >> Try one last time. >> No. No, man. We're done with that one. Okay. >> All right. >> This is not a win-w situation. Okay. 1,0003 and so on and so forth until I tell you to stop. Do you understand that? >> Yes, sir. Okay. So, just count 100 to one. >> Okay. So, I'll explain it again. Okay. >> Sorry. I've worked. I've got four kids. >> So, feet together, hands down by your side. I want you to stay back on that line for me and start. Okay. And I'm one Mississippi. >> Count. Yeah. One. Start. >> One Mississippi. Two Mississippi. Three Mississippi. Four Mississippi. Five Mississippi. >> Okay. You can stop, sweetheart. All right. >> I used to be Olympic. >> I want you to walk back over there for me. Okay. We're not done quite yet. >> Olympic. >> All right. This next exercise we're going to do is called the finger to nose. When I tell you to start, I'm going to give one of two commands. Either left or right. Okay. Not Nope. You're not going to move. Not going to move at all. You're not gonna take any steps. >> Example of left. >> Right. Okay. So, when I tell you to start, I'm going to have you tilt your head back. I'm gonna have you close your eyes. >> Right. >> Yes. Like that. Okay. Then I'm going to say left or right. So, for the sake of me giving you the example, I'm going to tilt my head back, but I'm going to keep my eyes closed. Okay. So, I'm going tilt my head back. I have my finger guns. And I say left. I'm going to bring my left hand up, touch the very tip of my index finger to the tip of my nose. Okay? And I'm going to bring it right back down after I touch it. >> Wow. >> Okay. You understand all the instructions? Well, I mean, you might have to like go over one or two. >> Which exercise? Which instructions don't you understand? >> The instruction I don't understand is when you get up and tell me, you know, how to act when the run one prop you're going to do. I'm supposed to put my uh my guns down. >> Yes. You're going to stand like this with your finger guns down by your side. Okay. Then you're going to tilt your head back and close your eyes >> and listen. >> And then I'm going to say left or right. Say if I say >> I'm going to tell you left or right. >> You're not going to tell me anything. If I say right, you're gonna bring your right hand finger, your fingertip of your right index finger to the tip of your nose, and you're gonna bring it right back down. >> Okay? So, >> if I say left, it's gonna be the exact opposite. Right? >> Your index finger, not your middle finger. You're flick You're just slicking me off right now. I need your index finger. There you go. Yep. >> And done. >> Bring it back down. And then if I say left, you're going to do it with your >> Do you understand what I'm trying to tell you? >> Sorry, I have to pee. >> All right. >> Yeah, I do. >> You sure? >> I'm probably never going to be able to wash. I can be able to use the light car. >> Okay. Go ahead and make your finger guns for me with both hands. Put them down by your side like that. I'm going to go ahead and start the exercise now. Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. Put your head back. Close your eyes. Left. >> That water make me made me itchy. >> All right. You're going to put your hand back down. >> And we're going to do one more exercise. >> Okay. So, I want you to step right here for me. Oh, >> right here where my flashlight is. I don't know how your >> Actually, you know what? You You can sit down for this one. >> You like that? >> Just have a seat. >> Okay. I have nothing but time. >> Do not. >> All right. So, what I'm going to have you do is a counting exercise. Okay. >> Okay. >> Only when I tell you to start, you're going to tilt your head back and you're close your eyes. When you tilt your head back and close your eyes, you're going to count to 30 in your head. When you get to 30, you're going to open your eyes and tell me you're done. You understand that? >> You understand what I'm saying? Yeah. >> So, reiterate to me what I said. >> You are going. Okay. It's hard to reverate when I had three things going in my mind because you reminded me of my sister's brother. He comes off due to the up and coming whenever he Okay, this is the last two parts of your story. >> When I tell you to start. >> So, do it here. >> Yep. Are you Brianna's mom? >> I am. >> She's having [clears throat] an issue in the back of the car. >> Is that her screaming? >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. >> Um, but yeah, she was very clearly seen uh throwing at >> I'm pretty sure she was. >> Yeah. So, she's being arrested for domestic uh child and if there's any damage to the house or anything like that, then probably criminal mischief as well. >> Here's what I need you to do. Do you know why she's in here flipping out right now? >> Um part of >> his baby needs to be given to his dad. >> So he's he's definitely he's definitely going to be taking care of the child tonight. >> You need to hand that that's she's going to keep doing that >> until that baby's not in that girl's arms. >> Okay. >> I really wish grandparents had more authority because this right here I'm I'm not all right with. Like I really want to get out of this car because those people also ain't raising that baby. I'm I'm not going for it. >> I understand. Um so >> are part of it is she just wants to say goodbye to the kid. I haven't um gotten [snorts] around to that yet. >> Somebody going to let that happen? >> Yeah, I I'll I'll let her say goodbye to him before we take off. But I'm assuming that's probably a big part of why she's screaming right now. Um I think she wants to talk to you as well, so I'll roll down the window so you can talk to her. >> Hey, stop yelling. Okay, I'm going to >> get my baby from her right now. >> Get him. Okay, >> get my son from them. Please just stop yelling. >> Get my son from that. >> I'm going. Just stop yelling. Please. >> She yelling about me. >> She's [laughter] talking about >> he got Yeah. [cough] [clears throat] >> Um I'm going to give her a chance just to say goodbye to him through the um car. Okay. And then I'll bring him back over to you. >> That's fine. >> Hello, buddy. >> Can you take him back to that? >> Can you take him back to his dad? And then if did she send the video footage or anything like that? >> No, I was going to ask if she sent it to you. >> Just give her my business card. >> Oh yeah. >> Yeah, I think >> or actually I'll see if she can just airdrop it cuz I think she has an iPhone. This is the house. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Did I hear that she was like trying to kick in a door or something? >> Yeah, she was trying to kick in the door. >> Okay. >> But his dad wants to press charges if he's able to. >> Oh, it's domestic. >> Domestic. >> Yeah. He said anything involving his house if he can press charges. He wants >> Well, if there's no damage, >> no damage, you can't press charge. I think he said, >> I mean, there's already going to be a few charges. >> Um, >> uh, Gage, so DHS is going to be contacted for this incident. Okay. >> Um, as of right now, she's going to be charged with childment and domestic. Okay. >> Okay. >> Um, if >> we'll trespass her also. >> Yeah, I'll I'll trespass her as well. >> She I'm trying to tell you she just get the baby and go home. I mean, if you guys I'm going to get her out of here. So, if you guys have any other questions, you guys can ask him real quick. But >> her worry and frustration increased upon hearing the authorities explain potential charges. >> Right now, your charges are child and domestic. Okay. >> Child. >> Yes. >> No. >> You were you were holding your son as you were throwing >> grabbing him. So, that's what court's going to be for for you to contest. Okay. I'm not I'm not going to contest it on the side of the road with you right now. Okay. I'm just letting you I'm just doing you the courageous and letting you know what does that mean? >> They don't have any other anything else to do with that. >> I know I'm asking you what does that mean? >> That means you'll go to court and in court those are going to be the charges that they're going to present to you are the childment and the domestic. >> How is it child? >> Because you're holding your son while you're [clears throat] throwing. >> I pushed him out my way in the video. I hope she grabbed that part where he grabbed my son's arm and my son almost fell out my arm. I picked my son back up cuz he's he's halfway on the floor. He almost fell on the floor. I pick my son back up from falling face first and I pushed him away from me and then I'm trying to get in the car. Hayden parked behind my car telling me we're not leaving till the police get here and Gage is telling her to move so we can leave. >> Okay. Well, as of right now, this is the scenario that we're in right now. Okay. >> Okay. But it's not child again. We're not going to >> because there's nothing I can do to even get that baby back. So now he's going to go hang with you >> and let pan out. >> No, bro. cuz everybody needs to go to to jail. >> You need to stop. >> You're going to make it to where that's who Keon is going to be lazy. It's >> It's not them doing it. >> I literally pushed him. I pushed him. You're grabbing me with my son in my hands and my son is about to fall. Get away from me. I'm pushing you away from me. And then he says, "You know what? Just take him." So I get in the car and your sister's not letting me leave. You're even yelling at her to move. >> I'm going to say that if they showed them a video, it had more than just pushing other lights. >> You good, ma'am? >> Okay. I'm gonna get her out of here. Thank you. >> 2175. >> It was only back at the station that [music] things calmed down with a mother regaining composure, partly due to the officer's calm and supportive approach. We'll go back this way. Take a right or left and end of the room on the right. If you want to keep standing, take a cuff off your hand. Okay. Go ahead and put this in down. Do >> you need to make any further phone calls or anything like that? >> Yeah, I have a few. >> Okay. Don't contact Gage. >> What's that? >> I'm not. >> Okay. Just letting you know if you contact Gage then um >> nothing, >> bro. Gage, >> I promise you Gage did that to piss me the off cuz he knew I was sitting in the back of that [ __ ] cop car and I couldn't do nothing. Handed him right to her thinking it was cute. I don't know. He just told me I can call anybody. Just don't contact Gage, which I didn't plan to. So, >> my [ __ ] is together. My [ __ ] is together. Nobody sat there and [ __ ] him. I had my alto in my hand. Therefore, yeah, to not be able to drop my alto, it has to have a grip on it. I have to have a grip on it. >> So, Brianna, as I was telling you earlier, >> hold on. So, as I was telling you earlier, the two charges that you're being charged with right now are uh domestic first offense causing viol and then the second one is going to be >> childly. >> Yeah. So, he had on his head. >> Yeah. >> I didn't even he on his head. >> So, >> you have pictures of those. >> Yes. >> He works at Walmart. He does very heavy duty stuff. So, no, we're not. Mom, you're trying to tell me I like marked and stuff on game play, which I didn't even >> So, again, all that can be contested in court. I'm just letting you know as of right now. I'm just letting you know what your charges are right now. And again, they can all be contested in court. But again, the first one is going to be domestic causing violence first offense. So, that one is a serious misdemeanor. Okay. >> What does first defense mean? >> First time it's happened. So, the second offense and third offense, >> Hold on. I'm going call you back. Um the second charge is child. Okay, that one's going to be an aggravated misdemeanor. Okay, those are your two charges. >> Aggravate. >> It's one step below a felony. >> Okay, >> so simple misdemeanor, serious misdemeanor, aggravated misdemeanor, and then DC, CB felonies. >> So the So A is the least worst >> for what? >> Like that's the best one. Like a felony is the or >> a felony would be for like murder in the first degree. So you're not being charged with and a felony. Oh, so >> so an aggravated misdemeanor >> below a felony. >> Yes, aggravated is still a misdemeanor. It's just below a D felony. So it's it's the highest misdemeanor you can get, >> but it's not a felony. >> Okay. >> You got one serious misdemeanor and one aggravated misdemeanor. Go ahead and wrap up your phone call with your mom. I'm going to check with the jail. See if they're ready for you. If they are, then we'll get you up there. Okay. >> Okay. >> Hey, she's just finishing up her phone call. Are you guys ready for her? >> Whenever. >> All right. Thank you. I'm just going to hold on to this until we get up there and then I'll give it to them. >> Okay. >> Just for um posterity, do you have anything else on you? >> No. >> No. No of any sort. >> No. >> Okay. So, um just so you know, if you do have any on or in you, [snorts] it's a felony charge if you bring them up on a jail floor. I'll just let you know that just in case you want to if you did and you want to let me know. Okay. >> Yep. Right in front of the elevator. Are you sick if you're needing medical attention? No. >> Can I have you to take your belt off for me? Do you have anything in your pockets? >> Um off. >> Actually, I'm going to change you out. So, yeah, don't worry about that. >> I can loosen over here. Slide your shoes off for me. And I'm going to do a quick pat down on the wall. And I'm going to start up at top and work my way down. Okay. >> Okay. Just give you a heads up for full disc. >> Okay. >> Full lift this foot for me. This one. >> Yeah. Go ahead and get you changed out quick. >> Thank you. The mother was charged with domestic [music] abuse causing bodily injury and child injurement. Under Iowa law, she could face up to 6 years in prison and fines ranging from $1,285 [music] to $11,100. Although no one intended to cause negative effects on the child when adults let anger guide their actions, children become unwilling [music] witnesses, often experiencing long-term emotional impacts. The girl is 17 and I don't want to lose the help I have. So, I cannot give you that information. >> This mother insists the child was being cared for. But why did she refuse to reveal the caregivers's identity? Let's find out. On October 2nd, 2024, authorities received a call from a hotel reporting a child unsupervised for several hours. Officers arrived quickly, approached the mother, and collected information. However, the initial conversation showed that the mother was unwilling to provide details needed for the investigation. >> Hey, hi. >> How are you? >> Good. You can come in. >> Okay. >> Please come in my information as well. >> It's okay. It's okay. So, this uh babysitter, do you happen to have any of her contact information? >> I do, but I I do not want to give it up because she is on here. I do not want to get anybody into trouble. >> All right. >> But I can tell you right now, this kid >> Well, that's something he is extremely extremely autistic. I'm on top of him 24/7. We go to therapy 3 days a week, 3 hours a day, sometimes four. >> This is not something that ever happens. >> Okay. Well, I still need her contact. >> I cannot get that to you. I'm not going to get somebody interrupted. I cannot do that. I literally She's all I have. If I get her in trouble, I have nobody. >> Here's the thing. >> And my boss just told me to. >> Here's the thing. If we can't get her contact information, you're subject to get charged. >> Charged for what? >> The welfare of a minor. >> How? >> You have to be able to prove that somebody was supposed to be here. If you can't give us the name, you can't give us the date of birth, the phone number of a 17-year-old on a school night. >> My friend that just left here worked for a DA. He just told me I did not have to give that information because the girl is 17 and I don't want to lose the help I have. So, I cannot give you that information. As badly as I would like to, my son is never alone. He is everything to me. I do therapies with him 3 days a week cuz he's severely autistic. He's very difficult. >> Do you have a text message showing that she was here? >> Dad, I don't have anything. And it's normal. She just literally comes here every day. Everybody knows I leave my house no later than 10:00. Rebecca down the street wakes me up every day at 10:00. She's here. >> Where did she get dropped off just now? of right here on the side. You guys are like bombarding my front parking lot. Like it's like a movie scene out here literally. >> I mean, it's a serious situation. >> I didn't realize that. >> Your child was out on the road. >> And this moment looks like he was here by himself. >> But he moved to Richmond. I don't believe my kid. He's 40 years old. He just >> You're not providing information >> because she's 17. I'm not going to do that worker. I don't have to. >> She's a DHS worker. >> She used to be. Yes. It >> It doesn't matter. I can't do that. She's 17 years old. She's the only help I have. I don't know why she left. Okay. I don't know. >> DHS worker that's going to sit. >> But my son, >> what's your DHS workers? You don't even have a number right now. >> Oh god. Oh, okay. >> I didn't know you were coming in. So, >> is he okay? >> Are you okay? >> Okay. Get the number. Please give that to my brother. That's something I would never do is leave my child home. He's four years old. I'm a damn good mom. We do therapy. I'm very active in his life. And she's not my DHS worker. Just so let me make that very clear again. She's my coworker and used to be. >> Family services, DFS, confirmed there were no records of a caregiver. And the mother could not verify who had been looking after the child. As a result, she faced legal responsibility. We have a mom here with a 4-year-old autistic kid and he was found in the middle of the road today and she's allegedly being told that there was supposed to be a 17-year-old here watching the kid. He was out in the center of the road today and she's saying that she can't be charged because there was a 17-year-old here, but she's not allowing us to have a name, date of birth, a phone number for this 17-year-old and she's been gone since 10 last night. So now she's claiming that a DHS worker or former DHS worker said that that it's fine as long as there's somebody here, but there was nobody here. So with the 17-year-old not being here and her unable to produce any information on the kid, that would be correct without being able to produce any kind of information. >> Okay. All right. Awesome. I appreciate it. Thank you. >> I just spoke to the on call DFS worker. She is unaware of any name associated with that, they are not allowed to give any legal information and with you being unable to produce any information. >> Okay. So, they're saying that basically that if I do not give them any a name or a number or that she's trying to she's saying something else. Can you hear me? >> Okay. Here. >> And she is also unable to give any legal advice. >> Can you So, basically, what are you saying? I don't give you the name and number. Correct. Am I correct? Am I do I do? >> By who? >> If you can't produce it, you're getting charged. In [crying] >> charge of what? >> During the well forever minor. >> They said it's during the baby. They said it's >> all right. Turn around. >> What are you behind your back? >> Are you serious right now? >> You want to play games? >> I'm not trying to play game. No game. I'm just telling >> you're being placed under arrest for the welfare of a minor in the second degree. >> My son. Are you serious? Then give us the name of who's supposed to be here. >> It's not that hard. >> Who is supposed TO BE HERE WATCHING >> THE BABY? >> 23. >> Is that the only >> The mother was charged with the welfare of a minor in the second degree. Under Arkansas law, she could face one year of probation and a $2,500 fine. Children with autism or special needs require constant supervision. Even a moment of inattention can create a risky situation and lead to legal consequences. Now it's Amanda's turn. The mother who always promised I'll clean up yet somehow turned her home into a survival bunker. Horror movie style. >> I actually was cleaning the date. I actually had it cleaned up. >> On December 8th, 2024, police received a call about a 16-year-old who got hold of a inside a home in Palm Coast, Florida. The Flaggler County Sheriff's Office launched an immediate investigation. And what they walked into was beyond shocking. A loaded resting on a Disney DVD. Paraphernalia scattered around. Residue. Roaches crawling everywhere. No running water, rotting food, and a bathroom so foul it made your skin crawl. And that was when the arrest began. >> Hey, Amanda. >> Hey, can I talk to you real quick? >> Am I in trouble? >> Well, no, but we need to have a talk. All right, let's come out here. [clears throat] Just following up with you. DJJ kept them last night. >> Yeah, >> they did. Okay. All right. And so, Alex and your three children that live here, right? >> Yeah, >> they do. Okay. >> Is there anybody home right now? >> Only the kids. >> Is it just the three of them right now? >> Yeah. Am I going to jail? >> Yeah. That's why we're going to walk this way and I want to get you out of the kids. Hey, come on. >> Why am I going to jail? So, I'm going to explain that here in a minute. All right. And we're going to get out of side of your kids. I'm going to give you that respect. >> Can I at least have my daughter bring me my phone so that way I can call somebody. >> What am I going to jail for? >> You're going to go to jail on four counts. Child, okay? And I'm going to explain it all. >> Cleaning last night. I literally >> Well, >> can I get two at least? >> We'll get everything for you. >> We'll get everything. Okay. have a whiskey. >> All right. So, what's going to happen? I'm going to take you to the jail. >> Four four counts of felony child. Okay. One, as a mother, you're supposed to provide adequate >> I was cleaning the house. You >> adequate care for your children. I don't think you've met that level based on our observations yesterday. And just the culmination of everything. I I don't I feel like you're kind of culpable and negligent. >> Can you please listen for me a minute? >> Is there any shoes that you want or need? >> Yeah. And you can you ask my niece and nephew to get me my um flip flops. >> Well, I don't want them to see this. Okay. They had a bad day yesterday. I don't want to I don't want it to double down. Okay. >> I literally have a case manager and I literally I'm being honest with you. Call Brian Chavez. >> Well, I'm going off my observations. Okay. >> I know. I'm being serious. Call Brian Chavez and ask. >> That's why I'm telling you DC case manager is Brian Chavez. >> I've talked to DCF up this morning. my investigation based on my observations yesterday. Okay. >> Call Leilani. Call Leilani. She literally took pictures the day before. >> Okay. >> Can you please and then maybe you'll have a different change. You'll have a change of her. I'm being serious. Call Leani. >> I do believe you're going to want to improve your situation and I hope you >> I literally was I actually was cleaning the date. I actually had it cleaned up. That's a good start. I've been here several times. It is never You can say you're cleaning now, but it's I've never seen this property. >> All right. >> And it's based on the total investigation arrest that we conducted. It's not cuz one day or any particular day. >> Can you please have go get my phone? Can you please get my cell phone so at least I can have it when I get out? >> Okay. Do you want to get in there wallet they can grab for you too? >> My ID is in my wallet. Everything's in my wallet. >> Okay, I can get your wallet. >> In my phone. That's it. Everything's in my phone. >> Because of [snorts] her own and lack of care, Amanda is losing everything, including her innocent children. She may have missed her last chance to hold them in her arms. And even worse, [music] she's slowly losing the very role of being a mother. I just want my phone. >> All right. Um I'm just going to do a quick back my hands. I got to search. You don't have anything on you, do you? I think it's a poke pro or via your mouth. All right. If you could just lean forward right here. I may have a lighter in my in my Just spread your feet for me real quick. You face that way. >> All right. I'm just using the back of my hands. Is there any pockets? All right. >> I believe DCF's going to respond. Okay. Um, but if you >> can you have call him and have him come stay with the kids until he comes. >> Well, we're going to stand by with him um until DCF gets here. Okay. >> But you're going to come with me. Is there any [clears throat] other adults in the house? >> No. >> No. All right. >> That's why I asked you to call my boyfriend. >> All right. Lean back. You'll be fine. >> Oh, I'm losing my kids. I'm not going to get them back. And you guys don't understand. I'm not getting them back now. >> Well, no. Your phone is on your desk. >> All right. I appreciate Can you please dial my boyfriend? I'll tell you how to get into it. >> Just hang tight. >> What's truly infuriating is that Amanda seemed more worried about her cats, her dog, and her phone. Never once showing genuine remorse for what her children had been through or what they were still suffering. >> All right, Amanda. It's just paperwork. >> Can you please call my boyfriend and take care of my animals? [cough] >> We will. >> I I I honestly I'm hoping I can >> We're standing by with your house like yesterday. We're not going to leave any animals unsecured or uncared. That's why I asked if you can call my boyfriend. >> And DCF is coming out. Like I said, DCF may come talk to you at the jail and they're going to figure out arrangements for getting care for your children. Okay. >> Can you call Stacy Reading? Have him call Stacy Reading. >> I I don't I'm not going to be part of that. We're going to do paperwork. I'm going to be honest with you. Just leaving yesterday like just all my observations. >> That's strictly what this is based off is observations. You know, >> I hope that whatever comes of this, >> can you answer that? That's my son. >> Can you please, please? I need to know what's going on. >> Whatever comes of this, I hope you guys get to a better spot. Okay, but this is where it's going to start. >> Please, that's my son. I'm begging you. Please. >> That's my son. >> Right now, I'm not permitted to answer phones like that. She's got animals in there, too. So, we might have to call animal control. >> Can you please just call my boyfriend? He'll take care of them. Please. >> I really can't lose my service, dog. You're not going to lose your property or your animals. >> Can you call my boyfriend to um take care of the animal? >> We'll take care of that. DCF will handle that. >> Serious. He'll take my my service dog. I have a service dog. >> Oh, you're talking about your boyfriend to take the dog. >> Take the dog and my cats. He'll >> get that info to Stephanie Logs and he'll he'll try to reach out. >> This time she finally seemed to remember she actually had kids. But what's infuriating is that even now the dogs and cats still seem to matter more to her than her own flesh and blood. >> They juvenile justice just called my phone. Can I please find out what's going on with my son? Please >> take care of it right now. >> I just want to know what's going on with him. Like, I know >> he's in a safe place, right? He's safe. He's in jail. >> I just want to know if he's able to get out. That's what it is. >> We'll cross that bridge, right? So, I want you to know he's safe. You know, he's not on the streets. He's in a facility. He's taking care of you. >> What's a good number for uh your boyfriend? >> Can you get in my phone? I don't know the number. I think it's 864. >> Are you allowing me to get in your phone? >> Yes. >> How do I do that? >> Just hit the screen and push up. No, it's a little My phone's not. If you can if you may have to hit the side button. >> It's upside down. >> Yeah. >> Then swipe up. >> Yeah. Okay. >> And then go to um you can go into the phone and you can go to contacts. No, contacts. Not recent cuz I know you can't. Um go to um Richard. >> Richard? >> Yeah. >> Right there. You want me to call him on the phone >> if you don't mind? >> All right. >> Oh, these are >> It is local. He lives in Hastings and he can even take my kids. Ow. Can you loosen these? These are kids up to DCF. >> These are hurting. Can you loosen them? >> Yeah, they'll take he'll take care of him back. He's going to be going to be a little while. >> Hold on. Let me leave a message. Hey, Richard. I'm getting arrested. I need you to come get Mutley and the and the cats, please. >> Worst case scenario, Amanda, they'll go to the maid society here and they'll take care of them until you get out. >> I mean, they're >> they're not going to like give your dogs away or put them up for adoption or anything like that. So, they're not, you know, they're not taking they're going to hold them and like kind of care. >> Yeah. Well, the house is in. >> You just got to let us know how many animals there are cuz >> I do know there's the cat that's in the pin is the one that I let outside. You can let her out. I just >> leave her out. >> You can leave her out. Just make sure she has food and water. >> Um, >> um, the other two cats, I don't know if you'll be able to catch my my big male cat. And then I have my service dog. And then I have another cat. >> After everything, [snorts] Amanda broke down in tears, pleading, "Can you let my kids know I love them? Can those late words of love erase what she has caused? However, in the midst of that tragedy, the police remained humane, helping her contact Mindy to take care of her children and pets. Perhaps that is the last bit of comfort left in this crisis. >> Can you let my kids know I love them? >> Yeah, we'll tell them. They're going in there now. I guess two of them are waking up. >> No, they're getting ready for church. >> They're getting ready for church. >> They're getting ready for church. >> Where do they go to church at? >> They're going They go to um Calvary. Did you want to talk to your your daughter real quick? >> If you don't mind. >> Any questions, man? What's going on? What you being charged with? Anything like that? You don't have any questions? >> All I know is I'm working with DCF, but I've been trying to get this. I'm trying. >> I literally just have a case manager. I have a case manager and I have >> Listen to me. What you need to do is try harder. [snorts] >> All right. So, it's just paperwork here on out. Okay. And I really do hope this is uh the point where things change and improve for you. Okay. >> No, cuz you guys just got my niece and nephew taken from me permanently. >> That's not up to us. But >> no, it's up to the legal the litigation case that I'm in. >> Can you answer that? >> Hey, Mindy. Can you come on? >> Hello. >> Hey, Mindy. >> Hello. >> Hi. This is Deputy Vox. I'm with the sheriff's office. I've got Amanda's phone. >> Yes, sir. >> She's requesting that Richard go to her house and I guess secure her animals. >> Wait, what's going on? >> Uh, she's being placed up. She's been placed under arrest. >> Okay. Where are the kids? Where are the kids? >> They're with deputies right now. Um, the Department of Children and Families is going to be responding. >> No. >> Amanda was trying to get a hold of Richard. >> She doesn't know him. >> Oh, you don't? >> I don't know him. >> I do not know him. >> Never mind. I thought it said Richard on the phone. That's my nephew's name. >> No. Oh, I adopted her. So, wait. Um. >> All right. Well, I've got to drive. I It said Mindy Richard. So, Richard was a guy she wanted me to reach to get >> No, I was wanting you to answer. It said she >> my son's name before I adopted him was Richard. That's okay. >> I've got to go. >> They're at the house. Um, but DCF's going to be responding there with with deputies right now. >> I'm on my way over there. Thank you. Thank you, Mindy. >> All right. Bye. >> Due to a series of violations, 37year-old Amanda was charged with four counts of felony child without great bodily and booked into the Flaggler County Jail. Her bond was set at $10,000 along with a strict no contact order with her children who are now under the care and protection of the DCF. >> DCF is responding. Okay. Before we release, DCF is going to help us determine who your kids are going to be released to. Okay. DCF usually tries to find a family member first, whether that's the father or your mentor or whoever. They're going to come up with a a safety plan or parenting plan. >> They can go really soon to my boyfriend, >> but they're going to probably be in contact. They're probably going to come see you at the jail. I'm going to talk to you. Um, all right. And they're going to come up with that. Far as your bond and stuff, the booking will talk to you about that. But I am charging you with four felony counts of of child abuse. Again, you're innocent until proven guilty in court, so you'll have your day in court. Um, just remember that the jail staff, they're here. They're just doing a job, okay? They have nothing to do with the investigation. >> I'm not a mean person, so you don't have to worry about that. >> Amanda, I've How long have I been working with you? Take a bite. I remember when your kid got hit with the seat belt buckle on the bus. I came out and did that report. I was there when >> And you still been hit, Mike? >> I was there when I guess the that 106-year-old friend of yours that passed away. I was the one that managed that for you. I've been out with you a lot. I don't think you're a bad person. one bit, not a bone in my body thinks you're a bad person. >> Okay. I do think you're in need of some help. I do think things need to change. Um, >> I was working on that. I I literally had a case manager or I have I don't even know. >> So, no, like I'm going to tell you this. Okay. >> No case manager. No other person's going to make this stuff better or change it. >> I was She was just out the day before. She was out the day before with family home builders and she took pictures and she goes, "You need I want this done by the time I come back on Monday." So, we were working together to to make a plan for everybody, everything to get done. >> And there's a culmination of things going on. I do think you've had a rough year. I understand that. But, and I get it's not easy, but there's also some things it's got you got to try harder. As my supervisor even said, you got to try harder and there's some things that you need to step it up on. Okay? And and my genuine hope, okay, from the bottom of my heart is that it starts here, okay? And I hope >> it's not because I just lost my the two little ones permanently. You don't understand litigation case against them to prove I'm not mother. You just gave every single piece of case to them. >> I'm holding you accountable for what I believe you need to be held accountable for. Okay? Like I said, there needs to be a change and I hope this is the start of that change for you. Okay? >> Hopefully [snorts] from the ashes of this, these children will be given a chance at a new beginning. And thanks to the Flaggler County Sheriff's Department for giving Amanda this thoughtful message on my behalf. There needs to be a change. And I hope this is the start of the change for you. Oh, congratulations to these two model parents. They've successfully created a living environment that goes far beyond any definition of hell on earth. On April 27th, 2023, Randolph County police received a report about children being locked in an unhealthy environment. When they arrived, they didn't walk into a house, they walked into a rotting den, trash piling up everywhere, maggots crawling all over, pets on the verge of death, all mixed with the stench of the so-called living humans. >> Oh, they're just screaming and playing. They're running around playing. >> Okay, let us come in and check on them. You got the hole downstairs? >> Yeah. Uh, that place is a mess, but I am cleaning it, so don't worry about that. I'm working on it. I can bring the kids into the living or the >> We'll come in and check them out. >> We only have two. We only have two here. The other three are in school. >> Izzy, Jasmine, come here. >> You live here? >> Yeah. >> Do you live here, too? You dad? >> Yeah. >> Turn around and put your hands behind your back. >> What? >> What is he? >> What'd he do? >> Yeah. He looked through the window and there was diapers. >> That's because the dog just got it out of the trash. >> Come here, please. Please don't arrest me. It's okay. >> It's okay. >> Please don't arrest me. I have I I don't turn around. >> Why? >> And put your hands behind your back. Why? >> Because I asked you to. >> Are you taking the kids? Are you arresting me? >> You're being detained at this time. >> Okay. >> Poor Elins. I need CPS. >> What's wrong? I told you we just moved back down here. We literally just moved back down HERE A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. We're literally cleaning the place up as we speak. I was literally just come in to see what's going on. >> Smart. It's okay. Okay. It's okay. >> Can I please talk to you guys? >> You can go right off. >> Come here. It's okay. It's okay. Hi, boy. How are you? >> What you got? Is that a noodle? >> Are you eating a noodle? [crying] You go. I can't [crying] offic I'll sit here and say I can't I will I will go insane. We got you. My husband put them straight inside. >> Amid the overwhelming stench and chaos, the sound of children sobbing cuts straight to the heart. It's heartbreaking to imagine them watching as cold handcuffs were locked onto their mother's wrists. And even more devastating to know they had been living in such a toxic, deprived environment for so long. >> Face away from me. >> Stand up. Face away from me. >> What's going on? >> You're both under arrest. >> Why? Poor. We didn't even do anything. Why are we under arrest? >> What do you mean you didn't do anything? Your children are living in absolute filth. You understand me? >> STOP YELLING AT ME. >> SIT DOWN. >> STOP. [screaming] YOU'RE MAKING my PTSD. >> Okay, sweet. >> You want to go see my police car WITH MY FRIEND? >> [crying] >> I JUST WANT TO HANG OUT WITH ME. >> You want to sit with mommy over there? >> Taking the dogs and everything. >> My friends are watching our kids. WE JUST BROUGHT THEM DOWN HERE. THEY'RE UPSTAIRS. [crying] You can ask them. Can you go upstairs? You can ask them. They've been staying with them. But we've been trying to get this place up. We just had them down here cuz they had something. Go ask them, please. Can you guys please go ask them? They're right upstairs. But it didn't stop there. Samantha and Peters even knew how to play the perfect victims. >> What's your name? >> Samantha. >> What's your date of birth? >> 22496. >> What's your name? What? >> Joseph. >> What's your date of birth? >> 39 1991. >> Say that again. I'm sorry. Can you stop? >> 31 1999. >> Pan on top of stove has live maggots. Can one of you guys take uh the >> Did you Are the kids living in here? >> No, they're staying with our friends. >> They're upstairs. >> And why are they here right now? >> Cuz they had to do something. They literally had something to do and they just got back before you guys showed up. And >> are you all living in there? >> No, we're upstairs. We're trying to get it clean. We were just down. >> Is anyone upstairs? >> Yeah, Will and Leslie. Oh, but Will and Leslie completely denied everything Samantha and Peters had said. And at that very moment, a chilling secret was uncovered. >> Police Department. >> Hello, sir. >> How's it going? >> All pretty good. >> Do the kids that are downstairs live in here? >> No, they live downstairs. >> They live downstairs. >> Yes, cuz they just moved back down there what, two months ago or something like that? >> Yeah, they don't live. They don't stay up here. >> Does it So, the kids don't live here. They don't live here. The kids don't stay here. >> No, I promise you because we've been having problems with them, too. So, >> they've been >> Are you will? >> Yes. >> And you are >> Leslie. >> Okay. >> Trying to break away from them. >> We're trying to get away from them down there. >> I was going to let them know more about what's going on cuz I was going to try to record all the yelling and stuff because the kids was saying Jasmine, she's what one of the youngest >> one little girl. Yeah. Uh she was we heard her saying no stop mommy or saying that and so I was going to call but I tried to stay out of it. >> If you could please clean this area up. >> Oh I'm going to it's just been taking us a little while. >> Okay. >> My sister works at CPS. Oh wow. The cops must have been shaking in their boots. Too bad the law doesn't hand out VIP passes to relatives. [music] And then the arrest happened. >> I can't get a hold of anybody from CPS. Well, you won't be able to do Randolph County. My sister works for CPS. >> I don't care. >> I was just letting you know. >> I don't care. Just because your sister works for CPS doesn't mean you can treat children like this. >> I'm not saying that. I'm saying that Randall [clears throat] can >> Hey, I tell you what. Go ahead and stand up and come up here with me. >> I I need shoes. >> You're all right. Come on. >> I'm not going that without shoes. >> Stand up or I'll take you up. >> Oh my god. I need shoes. >> You'll be all right. >> I'm not going in the jail house without shoes. That is not happening. >> I'm not looking for shoes in that mess. Nor am I going to put you from that mess in my cruiser. >> Can you stop? >> Have a seat. >> Stop me. >> I'm not doing anything but guiding you along. >> You were hurt. >> Okay. Go. Stand up. But make sure you don't have anything on you. Okay. >> I need somebody to come get two kids. I don't know who this female is, but she keeps saying that none of y'all can do anything because her sister works for you. Who are you again? >> I'm Samantha Oldacre. >> Samantha Oldacre is who she is. Samantha hastily pulled out the PTSD excuse like a dose of sympathy bait while casually ignoring the boooos on her children's skin and showing no remorse whatsoever for the hell hole she and her husband had created. >> The only thing I don't want is >> this place burned down after you walk out. [clears throat] >> Yeah, it' be good. Come here. Come here. >> Ron, I don't know if you seen it or not, but you got a cat up here, too. >> Yeah. I told him if it runs out the door, not much we can do, but if it stays in here, I'll get it. Put it in. Just got a little one here. We're going to try to coax out for a minute. I might have to just go get up. My dad and commander are too small to put on. >> I'm freaking out. >> You're gonna have to be all right. >> I can't I can't breathe. I'm having a panic attack. >> Okay, I'll get EMS to check you out. Okay. >> Can you check on the one in my cruiser? She said she's having a panic attack. >> Hi. Can I see your toesies? >> Can I see your toesies? >> What is it? >> You have tennis shoes and my mommy. your toes. >> Look at the >> You got a boo boo. >> How'd you get the boo boo? >> I'll wait for them to get here and if they want to do a look over, I'll get you and we'll be here with them. We'll do a look over of them. >> I appreciate you. Do you have any boo boos? No boo boos? >> No. >> Okay, good deal. >> Mommy, dad, >> mommy and daddy didn't hurt you. Okay. You guys went inside. There's multiple kids of bed bug spray in there. So, just be aware of it. I >> think I think he's just more scared >> on the opposite side of this down that. He thought we were coming for those two >> and up here. They were putting them up whenever I knocked. >> Yeah, there's on that side. >> Yeah, I'm going to charge animal too. Sure, anyone might try to get a little sympathy when they're cornered, but the more they squirmed, the more that so-called home looked like a disgusting mix between a dumpster and a kitty prison. And then the performance began. Dad [music] stammered. I just moved in. Mom suddenly came down with a case of PTSD. And the neighbors, they did a complete 180. But what are the children's names? >> Uh, the two that you have is Isabella and Jeff. I also have three in school. >> You have three in school and they're staying here, too? Uh, they were staying upstairs with my neighbor. >> How old are they? >> Uh, Isabella is two and Jasmine is three. >> CPS. >> Kids are in that ambulance. >> Okay. >> The house at some point, too. Just >> You absolutely can. If you would like to. >> You want to talk with the kids and I'll go in the house? >> Well, the kids are two and four, but I can go check in on them. >> You already know the kids? >> No, I just know they're two and four. That's what was reported to us. >> Okay. Two and four. And how old are the ones that are in school? Seveny old. >> Sevenyear-old, six-year-old. And what? >> And a 5-year-old. >> They're in school, though. >> Can he talk to Is that dad? >> Yeah, you can talk to mom and dad. >> Is mom Where's mom? >> And a cruiser up there. >> Has a history of panic attacks. Panic attacks aren't crazy severe. Her heart rate. I felt her falls. It's in the 120s, man. Yeah. >> She's going to say she's got chest pain. She's going to do anything she can to try to get out of that vehicle right now. Other than that, no. She is recently pregnant. So I told her, "Hey, for the sake of the pit that you have in there, you need to chill." >> I'll check on her again. Turn this way, please. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> I'm not cool. >> Doesn't matter. >> Yeah. You're under arrest for child with risk of serious injury. >> The other charges that I can figure out. >> What? Can you tell me please? Just I I'm calm. Can you just tell me? Just >> tell me. Tell you what. >> What all charges are you getting in bed? >> Animal probably. I'm going have to read the code, but right now child is ser I'm serious. If you go and talk to them, I'm talking >> I I talked to them. >> What did they say? >> That you all haven't been there for two months. >> I've had the kids up there. >> They said they have not had the kids in there or anything. What's up, buddy? >> I was just wondering uh he informed me that there was like some screaming and arguing. >> Yeah, we got a call about some uh kids screaming, possible arguments, and then uh we got here. Mom tried to keep us out, and I told her that we were going to come in and check on the children, and I found this. Okay, I'm going to run through and just grab some pictures real quick. >> Yeah, go ahead. >> The deeper the investigation went, the more the police uncovered an air rifle hidden inside the house. Collected pets and the lingering smell of bug spray [music] filling the toxic atmosphere. It was a perfect portrait of a crime silently destroying a child from the inside out. But every wrongdoing deserves punishment. Samantha was charged with child abuse. All five children were taken to a safe place. Her sister works for Randall County CPS >> and that's why this has not been addressed previous. She said there was a CPS worker that was just here. Still doing okay. >> No, I'm just trying to figure out what's going on. >> I've explained everything that's going on to you. >> Because of my PTSD, I can't process anything right now. >> You said that CPS has been here. >> Yeah, they said the place was a mess. I told them that I was cleaning it up and I was bleeding >> and they left the kids here. What CPS worker was that? >> I don't remember her name. I really don't. But she said it was okay because we were cleaning it out. >> When were they here? >> A couple weeks ago. >> Couple weeks ago. >> Yeah. >> And that's cleaned up from a couple weeks ago. >> Yeah. >> Okay. She said that one of you guys was here a couple weeks ago and saw it and said that it was okay as long as they were cleaning it up. >> I don't have any like we don't have any case history. I haven't done a case history. >> I'm just letting you know somebody from you guys thought that was okay and left those kids there. >> I don't think so. >> I don't either. But that's what she said. >> I told him that you guys were on your way and he said, "Okay." Then immediately came outside and started cleaning up. >> Well, I just had them. There was a huge >> pile. They just cleaned that before. She wants to surrender. >> I want to see if she wants if he wants to surrender the dog. >> You talk to her or him, whatever you want. >> You roll sign a piece of paper and surrender these dogs so they can be adopted. You'll do that. I'll get the paper ready and I'll bring it up here. You can sign it and I'll guarantee you that they'll be taken care of at the shelter. Go get them fixed if they're not fixed and go to good homes. >> Well, that's not as long as you sign it. You're the owner of them, correct? You guys are the owners of Okay. Now, if I get that if I get the okay from you, then we'll be good. He's going to sign those over, too. >> Sounds good. >> I can't I can't go down. >> Well, you need to. >> I can't. I'm trying. But I swear I'm trying to do right. >> I really am. I'm trying. >> Okay. >> I've been doing it all. Hey, where exactly? >> Our coworker is kind of auto ratification. We're going to take emergency custody of these kiddos. We're going to have them transported to the ER. They have some superficial wounds that's not very hygienic. They may have some chronic stuff going on. We just want to have them checked cuz that's really >> Well, I have EMS up here. >> Really disgusting. >> Yeah, it's terrible. >> How much it take to make a complaint to them? >> To who? >> A complaint to CPS. Call their emergency hotline. Did you guys contact uh the landlord? >> I did. >> Okay. You okay still? >> No. >> Okay. What What's wrong exactly? My chest is really tight >> because you're not calming down. >> I can't cuz my >> I talked to EMS. EMS says that you're perfectly fine. >> My mental health. >> Okay. >> It's too bad. >> I'm going to need a bed bug bomb for my cruiser. >> Do you? No, I don't want to spray it. I want to bomb it. >> You'll never smell it. I'm telling you, this is good. >> I don't know if you saw or not, but there's either or an air or something in there. I don't know enough to determine it doesn't have an orange tip on it or anything. I can show you where it is if you want. >> Right there. >> It's an aerosol. >> I didn't want to disturb it or anything. >> No, you're good. >> Wait till you guys check it out. >> Yeah. The three kids that are at school, you guys are going to go get them, too. >> Okay. >> Going on this. >> Safe or close? >> Yep. >> Step out, please. Up the stairs. Straight across the hall. Hopefully, after all this, they'll finally change, leave behind their old ways, and start over. Not for themselves, but for the children who were once forgotten in their own home.
