Get the out of my way. I'm going to turn my goddamn >> Don't do it. >> Don't move. >> Back up. >> You got to mother up. >> These are the quiet cries of [music] children hidden behind the closed doors of every home. >> He came out and he had this big on the forehead. >> So then he picked up the trash can and on top of the head with it. >> He's very underweight, [music] very behind developmentally. belly descended like a malnourished belly. >> Here, [music] no one is entirely right or wrong. Only pressures, confusion, and emotions that adults sometimes struggle to manage. It is only when the law steps in that the situation becomes clearer and the truth gradually comes to light. These are the medical assessments provided when a one-year-old child was brought to the hospital. >> Um, so he was 7 kilos when he checked in. And looking at his growth chart, he was 9 kilos 2 months ago as being expediary. >> What comes to mind when you hear this information on April 6th, 2023, after receiving concerns about a child's well-being, [music] the police conducted a welfare check at a family's home. According to the report, the one-year-old showed signs of unusual care. At the scene, medical staff provided details about the child's condition and CT skin results. >> Okay, so what's going on? >> So Griffin came in. He's got a big from about here down from his nose. Weird markings on his ankles. So that's what we call DHS concerned nonacal traumas. Um mom says that he woke up from a nap. The on his face explains the ankles as eczema. The doctor said they look more like frostbite burns is his concern. Um they don't look like bruises which you can see. We have pictures too. It's [clears throat] not like a grab. They do look It's It's odd. They did a full non-ACL workout. So far, the CT showed no brain. He has large ventricles, very underweight, very behind developmentally, belly descended, like a malnourished belly. He does have a mass in his belly. Again, we can't rule out that there isn't malnourishment happening yet, but there is a cause of the dissension of his belly, I would say. and math was concerned. >> So, he had an appointment in February. I'm a little concerned their lack of looking at this child cuz apparently they checked off all boxes for meeting developmental milestones. He's in an infant car seat. He's not meeting development. >> Right. Right. Right. >> Let's just ask the doctor. He's in the 25th percentile. So, he's in that lower. >> But it's not showing that on his medical record though, is it? Like the day. >> I'm not sure how they put that in there. and he was 18 lbs in February and he's lost 2 lb since then. >> Once we head that way, I'll have detectives contact myself and pull a number and then kind of speed them up. They they might show up just cuz it's on call. We'll uh figure out what's going on with mob first. >> A one-year-old child, not yet [music] able to walk, had several unusual marks on their body. Remarkably, the mother responded as if this was not her responsibility. >> Sit down. >> And then uh which one are you? Ashlin? >> Yes, I'm Ashley. >> Okay, Griffin a little better. Hey, how are you? Lots going on, huh? All righty. I'm sure DHS has a couple questions they got to run through and I'm just here for their half. Basically, generally like this, we make a case out of it just cuz how young he is. >> So, what's going on? We were called because there was concerns regarding potential malnourishment, the bruising his face, >> the issue of the he woke up this morning at about 9:30 breakfast came to play with him and all of that stuff and at about 2:00 we woke up and I went out to go with him in the feed cuz we slept in lunch. >> What time did you guys lay down for now? >> We laid down at about 11:45. He came out and he had this big on his forehead and he was breaking out. So I called my mom and she told him. >> So I could tell you now just looking at it more than just recent. It looks more than just the day. It didn't just happen within himself. >> Well, I didn't. >> Okay. Like I'm going to say the way he feel that's not recent. It would have happened within the last several days, but it wouldn't have happened today with the coloration and all of that. >> Well, I have a video of him from yesterday. >> Yeah, that's >> so he just woke up a random giant on his head. Where does he sleep? >> Sleeps in his friend. >> Who was around him? >> The only people that are ever around him are my roommate Cassie. My mom washed him on honestly Saturday. >> So, what's in his crib? Because like I said like that doesn't just happen. >> I that's not making sense to me. >> Uh there's a on his face that seems like it's actually caused possibly couple days ago. It doesn't look recent from what Jill's stating. Just unexplainable from forehead all the way down to the center of his nerves. He's a one-year-old bit malnourished from what the nurs's state or the social worker state. It's just mainly the mother brought him in because she found him with the this afternoon when he woke up. She's saying she doesn't really know how it occurred. just placed a child to sleep earlier the day and then he just found him with a when he woke up. So, I don't have too much on this. I mean, we're just trying to figure out why he's in basically it. I'm sure you're concerned as a mom. >> I probably but I don't I don't know. >> Yep. That's what we're trying to figure out. I'm not a doctor. I don't deal with this as often. So, whatever she says, it's it's kind of just what I'm going off of already. He seems like he's taking a nice little nap, so or at least laying there comfortably. I don't have a kid of my own, but I do have a lot of nieces and nephews. He is a lot smaller for a one-year-old. I mean, maybe it's just genetics or something, but >> his parents are short. That's my thing. >> Both of us are very short. So, >> I get the Yes. So, I've always seen a good body part. >> Okay. Okay. Yeah. It's just Yeah. I mean, my in-laws aren't that tall either. They're I'm the tallest. They're about shoulder width and still their kids one-year-old a lot larger. >> My old and 12year-old said my circle. >> Yeah. Again, it's Yeah, it's almost because it's genetics. Again, we're just trying to figure out what's going on. And this there's a whole process we go through in state of Iowa. That's just networks, but I'm not surprised. >> Okay. >> Yeah. So, you might know a little bit what what's going on and how they >> investigate. All I know is that workers were called to home this long investigation. They >> So, that's basically what we're going through. We're just going to figure out what's going on with uh Griffin here. So I'm basically just here again just to report and record it. They're a mandatory reporter unfortunately. That's why DH just is here to make this and then I just make the case for them so they can just follow along with it. That's just how it is. >> I'll put a picture in a video from yesterday from your memories. I know that wasn't there yesterday. >> Okay. Yeah, if you guys can find that'll be perfect. I'll I'll document that down. >> Perfect. >> Yep. I'll document that if you guys have it. >> That's you know you fell or something last like couple days maybe. No way I'll take care of them. Sometimes >> sometimes when he's in his >> crib >> crib >> he does get irritated. Okay. >> So his soothing thing to do is to rock back. >> Mhm. Mhm. >> That's just what he does. >> Okay. Which is normal for kids. I I rock back. >> Sometimes he'll sit too close to the back of his crib and it's it's one piece. >> Right. Right. >> And well his pet but every time I hear it I go out and I move him away from the back. >> Mhm. But he always ends up standing to where he was. >> Okay, understandable. >> The child's weight dropped sharply [music] within just 2 months, raising the question, what happened to the child while at home. >> I'm going to go ahead and do pictures. Are you okay with staying in here while I do pictures? Cuz I have to take pictures of him as well. But the detective is coming down. So, I'm going to hold off on finishing questioning until she gets down here. Okay. >> [crying] >> Um, so he was 7 kilos when he checked in and looking at his growth chart, he was 9 kilos 2 months ago at his pediatrician, which 9 kilos is, you know, I think that was like the 27th percentile is what it was. Then he dropped to the 11.1 percentile. So that those two things like this with his significant weight drop was like this got he was relatively doing cardiac so heartbreaking was a little small. Also, instead of we do a lot more >> and I'll get this from the public. What what brought that pain? >> So, they had said just in the middle of the nap like mom didn't know went down, he was totally fine. Woke up, he had this mark on his head. >> Okay. >> And that's who she checked in for. And so, she had was unclear where it came from. You know, initially the resident had thought maybe this was like some of liquid burn, which it doesn't look to me. and let us in. It was the fact that mom had said there before nap, now it's there after nap. >> Yeah, >> absolutely. So, anything else? So, low heart rate is that on back is that what is that indicative of? >> Well, so that initially with the low heart rate in the on the forehead, he was drinking and fairly responsive. that that makes me think of you know when you have intraanial lab that's smashing stuff irregular breathing low heart rate and high blood pressure was kind of big three that we looked for we didn't have the other two but that low heart rate was like I think something so we went and did a CT and it was okay didn't show anything abnormal significantly abnormal okay >> and then kind of we were thinking okay he has his back and I think this is this is >> his feet also had like this of super cold and he was cold as well. He was 92° core temperature which is way low. So all that kind of put together made us think what's going on with this kid. >> Yes. So also didn't show anything. The abdominal CT also did and that was shows an obstruction of unknown ideology. He was his stomach is super full. So has a bunch of air press before we can get any answers. So I think the plan is to admit and then recheck at some point but don't know what the obstruction's from. >> Okay. Like balance check. Yeah. >> Okay. an kid that has not had a previous abdominal surgery. It's it's rare for an obstruction to occur in the first place. Okay. >> And so deep poop, but >> yes, >> we'll go in and touch with her um >> if he has any more questions, don't hesitate. >> Okay. Yeah. Say I might grab you when we're done if that's okay comes up and we'll clarify some stuff. >> Sound. The mother's acquaintance reported that [music] they had previously seen the marks on the child through images on Snapchat. >> I'm in school and she called me probably about 3:00 to ask me if I could give her a ride to the ER, which I don't have a car at the moment. So, um, my stepmom had the car cuz she had an appointment. Then I had a dentist appointment at 3:00. Then she went and she called one of my other friends. That friend came and gave her a ride. So, basically, that's how I got involved in this. Did you just meet him at the hospital then? I got here at 1755. The last thing I wanted to ask you, when was the last time that you saw >> The last time I saw was his birthday party, aside from occasional FaceTime calls. So, when was he really cool? Is it on his birthday? >> Yeah. January 15th. >> Okay. So, cuz I'm It's hard getting there with cuz I've never seen school. The last FaceTime was today. And then before that, probably a couple weeks ago at best. I've seen occasional snaps on Snapchat, but that wasn't that big yesterday. >> Like there was it was probably like there was one like that big like just a little bit of discoloration, but that's it. It was just on his face. It just he's a very pale baby. He always has or it was a picture. Yep. She's got a bunch of them from yesterday as well. >> Do you have the picture that she saw? >> I don't. It was on Snapchat. It automatically went away. cuz like even in some of the pictures she has, it's just a little bit of uh discoloration, but it's not her as like that. Okay. All right. Thank you. >> The conversation [music] between the investigator and the child's mother revealed tension. The mother struggled to explain the origin of the marks, [music] saying, "I don't know how it happened, which heightened concerns about the child's care." >> So, where does Griffin go most days? Is he with you? Does he go to daycare? Does he have >> He's temporally >> with you. Okay. >> Do you know I am unemployed? If you can't watch them, who would? If you have an appointment or need a break or whatever it might be. Okay. When's the last time mom watched him? >> I want to say Saturday. >> At her house or she came to yours? >> At her house. >> So, he went over there Saturday, spent the night home on Sunday. >> Since then, has anyone else watched him? Does Cassie ever watch him or does um Nope. No one else? Okay. So, tell me just a little bit about how is he? Is he a good baby, a fussy baby? I we we saw he's a good sleeper, so you got that going for you. He is typically very happy. >> Awesome. >> He's typically like laughing and giggling and there's only like two toys he likes to play with. Other than that, he gets into everything else. >> Is everything that's not the toy that seems to be fun, right? That comes with it. Okay. How is he? Is he walking, crawling, eating? What's he do to get around? >> He is crawling right now. He's taking his first step, but he's not quite to >> not like up on his own. Okay. Well, he do like, you know, like pull up and stand up on the couch and then kind of cruise around on that. Okay. >> How many bedrooms is your apartment in? Two. >> So, you share with Griffin? >> My bedroom is too small. So, he has like a little section in the living room. >> Oh, okay. >> Just to himself. >> Perfect. What is he? A crib or a pack and play or a bed or a crib? Okay. >> He woke up from our nap at 2. So, that's when I went out and saw the big spot on his forehead. Wo. >> So, let me pause you real quick. Does he take his nap in his crib too? His nap in his crib, too? >> I don't bet you. I'm too >> No, that's great. I didn't know, especially with Cassie, if it was a problem if it's not in a common area. >> No, it's not an issue. >> Okay. So, he took a nap, got up about 2:00. Did you nap, too? >> Oh, yeah. >> Okay. Did he wake you up or did you wake him up? >> I woke up beforehand. >> So, I woke up like 30 minutes before him. >> Okay. >> And then I heard him crying, which typically means that he's awake. >> So, that's how he lets you know. >> Okay. So, about 2:00 you he starts fussing. You go out there and tell me what's going on when you get to the crib. >> Well, I get to the crib. I see like some red spot on his forehead. So I moved his hair and it was like from his hairline to the bridge of his nose. I'm like what the [ __ ] I got him food because he was the I set him down and then I called my mom. >> Okay. >> I'm like, "Mom, look at his forehead. What do you think of this or should I just take him in to the ER? I don't know what else to do. I'm a first time mom, >> right?" >> She's like, "Men to the ER." >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, you got him up. What What did you give him for a snack? >> I gave him Cheerios. >> Okay. Did he eat them? >> Yes, he did. >> Did he have anything to drink? Did he have his juice? >> He did have his juice when I fed him his snack. >> Okay. >> And then after we drank that, I gave him. >> Okay. Okay. So, he ate and drank just fine. >> Yeah. So, the crying when he woke up, was it his normal like, "Hey, mom, I'm awake." Or was it like, "Uh, something's wrong." >> It was his normal, "Hey, mom." >> Okay. So, you go get him. Did he seem to be uncomfortable or unhappy or what was kind of his demeanor when you got him up? Sometimes it's hard to tell. >> Typically when I go out there and I go to take him out for his snack or he puts his arms out. >> That's what he did. >> Okay. >> But he always once you got him up, did he stop crying? >> Yeah. >> Is his little belly sticking out? Is it Can I >> stick out like that? >> When he's constipated or that's just how Griffin is? >> That's just how Griffin is. His belly has always stuck out like that since he was born. We came in because of this mark on his forehead. Obviously, I just saw it. Does it look now the same as when you got him up or is it gotten bigger or smaller? >> It looks a little bit faded. And I have a picture of us, too. >> From earlier when I brought >> Oh, perfect. Okay. >> I brought him in. So, it's much redder before. >> Okay. >> This was yesterday. >> What happened there? >> Do you know what that mark was from? >> So, when he gets angry or frustrated, >> he rocks back and forth. >> Okay. >> He just does a self soothing type thing. >> Yeah. And I do it too, so I never thought it would be big. And he's self soothing. >> Okay. >> So, >> he's trying. >> Yeah. >> And sometimes he'll sit too close to the back of his crib and the back of his head. >> Okay. >> Uh but when I hear it, I'll move him. >> Okay. >> But he always ends up right back to that same spot. >> Okay. >> So, I've talked to people about it before to see if it was because he's self-destructing or if it's something else. And they're like, well, sometimes it can be normal like it's just sitting too close back something. >> I don't know what this >> But so that he the back of his head when he does that. So what what happened up here yesterday? >> Yesterday he his head on his little car. He went to lean over and it he hit. >> Okay. So this was yesterday that that happened. Um around what time? >> It was like right after lunch. His foot was super and they couldn't figure out why his >> he was here for the flu. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Like it was so that his butt was really hard. >> Both feet or just one foot? >> Just the one. His right foot. >> I think so. >> What urgent care two 3 weeks ago? >> I think the one over by Southeast. >> Which urgent care? What? What name? Union. Mercy. What? >> I think it would be I'm pretty sure it was >> on Southeast 14. Yeah. >> So, it was before Christmas and then purple a few weeks ago and they've never figured out what it is. >> They never could figure out. >> Is that the same foot that he has that the mark on now? Like the dry spot has started. Okay. >> I think that's left foot. >> So, it's all been his left foot. >> Yeah, >> it's all been his left foot. Okay. >> Any history of use? So, if I were to um do a screen on you tomorrow, you would come back clean. No illegales whatsoever. >> Just it how often do you smell? >> Not very often. I just do it when I'm in pain and I cannot sleep. >> Why are you in pain? >> I have back issues. >> So where do you use it? >> I do it in my own room. I have my window wide open the entire time I smoke or I'll take it with me just >> and then where at? >> He is in bed. I don't smoke until so I'm going to let you know that is an issue. Even though he's in bed, you're the primary caretaker for him and you have to be sober at all times, especially with his age. I understand pain and all of that, but you have to be sober at all times when you're caring for a child that age. Any child, but especially a child that age. And then my role is, as you know, with DHS is to investigate any suspected alleged child cases. So we're always called any time that there's concerns like that and it's unknown how it happened. If it's like a small group or something, kids get that's normal. But the significance of the on his forehead and it comes down to his face and not having an answer as to what happened and how it happened. That's why a lot of times we're called with stuff like that. I do want to make it clear. I got a call from your sister out there from the front desk. That's not appropriate. I gain information from doctors and I'm going to question you and I'm going to come hard at you at times because I want to find out answers to find out what happened to him. I'm not saying you're guilty or you're or you're innocent. Our job is to find out what happened to him and how how to best help him. Okay. So, having your sister call whoever it was that called me um at the front desk. Did you tell someone to call? >> No. >> Kylie, Kaye, someone like that. They specifically asked for me. My sister is six. So, >> okay. So, this was an adult female. They asked by for me by name specifically about this case. And I just told told the person, I'm not going to listen to you or ask me and I'm not giving you any information for me to like even talk. So, I can interview anyone. I can talk to your mom and interview her. I have to have your permission to like give her any information. So, if your mom, if you want me to be able to give her any information regarding my case or anything like that, I have to have permission from you, but I'm not going to be having a bunch of people calling me and doing all that. >> Okay. So, I'm not sure who it was or whatever, but let's not do that again cuz that kind of puts the wrong foot forward regarding investigating. Okay. >> You think you know who? >> The only person I told the whole situation was my mom and my best friend who was here. the one that you guys had talked to. So that's >> So I was standing right outside the room when they called that front desk down there at the other room. So and it wasn't an older woman's voice. So So just so you're aware that you know that did happen. So let's just make sure that doesn't happen again. You know, like I said, our job is to investigate, try to figure out what happened. We're not saying you are or aren't guilty. Our job is to figure it out. Considering the risk of insufficient care, a few days later, the authorities [music] returned to follow up with the mother. >> Hi, I'm Detective Gimpolo with De Mo police. Okay. >> Is Ashlin here? >> Uh, no, she's at visitation right now >> with >> Yes. >> She's What's your name, sir? >> I'm warned. >> I think I talked to you on the phone. I just couldn't remember your name off the top of my head. So, I'm just still still just trying to talk to Ashlin. Did she get a new number or something? Cuz she's not responding to any of my messages. She's not returning my calls. We had had an appointment set up to talk again, and I just can't get back a hold of her. So, >> I tell you what, she'll be here by 11:00. >> Okay. Where's she doing the visitation? >> I don't know. Carrie already told her. >> Oh, Carrie took her. Okay. I don't know where they do. >> Not a lot of people talking to me about this whole situation. >> I know. That's okay. And I And I appreciate you and Car's help so far. Like I said, Ashlin just I know her phone was shut off for a little bit, but then we she had sent me. >> She had sent me that, hey, I got it back. And then we had set up to meet and then she didn't show up and then she quit talking to me. So, I just again I'm just trying to get a hold of her. So, I thought I'd stop out here. So, she'll be back around 11, though. >> Yep. Should be they should be back there about 10:50. >> We'll try back or maybe we'll try to call Carrie. Trying to >> trying to get her to answer my call. So, I appreciate your help, sir. Thank you. >> No problem. Thank you. >> Contacting the mother became difficult when the police received [music] no response as her phone was sometimes out of service and she missed a scheduled appointment. This required them to visit her [music] workplace to address the situation. >> Hey, yeah, I'm Detective Kimpol with De Mo police. I need to speak to an Ashlin Forier. might be her last name. She's here right now on a visit with her child. >> Are they in a room? >> Yes. >> She's going to go to jail. So, we'll wait till the meeting's done. >> I just want to make sure she doesn't. >> We don't want her to run away. >> So, at the end can maybe leave and then we'll talk that. I don't want to do anything in front of maybe if he can leave the room and >> and my supervisor. >> Okay. >> We'll wait till the end of the visit. 15 minutes. >> Yeah. You see your child? I'm good with that. It's the last time. >> Hi. >> Kiddles with mom. >> What time did they say the visit is supposed to be over? 10:30. So, we went out to the Ashley has just been evading. So, um I was just trying to talk to her at one point. I went out to the house and they're like, "Nope, she's at a visit." So, I called mom and she Yeah, she's at the visit till 10:30. So, instead of trying to track them down later, we're just going to come here and try to keep us. But, I don't want She doesn't know I'm coming. They don't want to do anything in front of I don't know what the normal protocol is, but at the end if maybe leave the room and then we'll go in and talk to her and put her in custody in there. I certainly don't want to make a scene and that's not what we're trying to do. But now that she knows a little bit more, >> I mean, would it make the most sense to just me go in there when it's over and tell mom that I need you to stand back a [clears throat] little bit and or stay back a little bit and is it just Ashlin and Kayia? >> Mom, Kayia, and the child. >> And the child. Okay. So, yes. I don't Where does Griffin usually go after this? Is the care three of them walk out to Kayia's car. Kaya takes Kayia. Okay. I didn't know if I can't remember the family that she's placed with. So, they're not here. Kayia takes them back to daycare. Yeah. So, maybe if Kayia can just take Griffin, we'll go in and talk to Ashley. We'll make it very quick and easy. Thank you. >> Hi, buddy. >> Oh, yep. >> Hi, Ashlyn. >> You guys were here. >> So, this is Detective Beerstrom. He just worked with me in my office. I've been trying to get a hold of you and you're not You haven't answered my messages. I've tried calling you. >> I haven't had any calls or texts coming from you cuz I have your number saved. Yeah, and I and I know that it was your number was like out of service for a little while there at one point, but since you told me it was back on, we had a meeting set up and you I know we had to reschedule that and then you didn't show up for that meeting. Anyway, I'm just telling you the reason for us coming here is cuz I just can't get a hold of you any other way. >> I'm not being embarrassed. >> You are. Since we spoke last, I've talked to the county attorney and charges were approved for just the entire situation. So, it's child endangerment and then of a dependent are the charges that were approved by the county attorney. That process has already gone through. I've got the charges. They're in the system as a warrant status right now. So, you're going to go to P County today to get booked in on those. >> Can I escape? >> Here's what we'll do. Okay. So, we'll have you take your backpack off. We are going to have to arrest you. We can give your backpack and all your property to your mom if you want. You'll be able to see your mom. >> Ask if not I can take outside. >> Is she out in the car right now? >> She should be. She's in a big black SUV. Older kind of suburban. Isn't that what she drives? >> Oh, she sees me walking. She probably walk up. How about I just go talk to her right now and tell her what's going on and that you're going to >> My mom's not aware. >> Well, we called her. Okay. >> So, I'm pretty sure she's aware. >> I've talked to her many times throughout this process. >> Cuz usually your mom is your ride, right? Ashley. >> Yep. Okay. >> Okay. Turn around. Let me back. >> Yep. Do you have anything on you? >> I can take that out. >> It's going to lock this Ashlin so we don't get any tighter. >> The child's grandmother was informed about the concerns regarding the care of her daughter. >> Hi, Carrie. >> Yeah. >> I'm Detective Versam with the W Police Department. Hi. Sorry to bother you. >> That's okay. >> So, I have bad news. Okay. >> Um Ashlin is going to go to jail today. >> Oh. For what? >> In light of the whole situation and charges were approved for a defendant and some child in things just related to the whole situ. I'm not the case agent. The case agent is in there. >> Can I come in and say hi? >> Absolutely. Yeah. She wanted to see you. Anna, could you want to take her bag, too? That might make it easier. >> Yeah. Let me pull my window off real quick. >> But I figured I'd just come get you and let you know. I knew you were out here. >> How long will she be in there? You know, honestly, that's going to be a >> until she see >> she'll get booked in. I don't know what if she has a bond. That's when I I I jump down. >> I'm following you. Sorry. So, I'm sorry. I was in the control room trying to see video. So, what happened was that security told me as soon as I parked my car that like, "Hey, they're over here." So, I followed him all the way to the Baywalk at which time they were in the food truck and they were walking on the baywalk and then they jumped towards the little rock area where the right before the beach. And that's when I approached them. I Hey, listen. Let me talk to you. Let me talk to you. And they started, you know, getting antsy. So then I jumped down to the rocks and that's when she grabbed the baby and got into the water with the baby and I was able to detain the other one cuz they were trying to get away. They're both not involved. I have the video sergeant. Unfortunately, the camera doesn't capture everything. They only capture them destroying one of the light. The little kid is the one that started. Sergeant, she started kicking that one. Then the one with the pink dress. There's one with the pink dress. That's the one that helped the sun kick it. And only one light. Sorry. I can't assume all of them. I mean, unless you want one in the pink dress is the one doing the vandalism with the kit. How much does that camera cost? >> I don't know. We'll have to mount, man. I mean, >> I don't I can't >> the lights. >> I can't give that estimate. >> The lights. I mean, I only capture the one, you know. Where are you? >> Let me let me uh let me call >> Can I start walking that way? >> Yeah. My reception sucks here. And then the one in the black. So, the one in the pink dress, which is La Mama or the mom of the kids. That's the one that did the venue. That's the one I saw in the video. >> The pink dress is the one that did the Correct. That's not the mom. The mom is the one that we had in cuffs earlier. The one in the black and white dress. >> The black and white dress. Correct. So, the pink dress is the one that did it. So, it's not the mom. Can the mom was wearing pink? Nita. one, >> but the cameras doesn't capture anything on the black one or anything like that. Right. It was just that one the video that I saw. >> He said maybe like 30 something. He said to ask the property >> $30, >> I think. I'm trying to see if they were there earlier. They were there so early in the morning and then they were there during the dark. I think they might have been here even during the night. >> So, I want to see >> where where they where they're coming from. And >> but you said you saw them here in the property, right? And you work in uh 475. >> I work for Okay. Yeah, I've seen you 485. That's why they tell me oh you're over there like >> well I don't work for 485 I work 475 465 Masters Masters owns all of them so I'm the master security officer and that's Masters that's the that's the >> Mr. I know I had your information let me start getting it and I know you're going to need a case but let me see what my sergeant is thinking. Okay she was asking me if there's anything on the on the one with the black dress. Okay the pink dress got in but over here I I could have shown I saw her pink. >> It's all up there man. Can we um articulate that like did somebody do rounds or something and saw that they were not broken? >> Yeah, we have a Baywok officer that patrols throughout the night. The time that they had arrived, uh we were already during doing our shift change. So, they wouldn't have caught it, you know, at that time cuz they were coming in to turn into a >> but they would know that prior to those ladies arriving, all the lights are flash, >> right? >> We can even see in the cameras and we rewind that all the lights are >> char. Okay. So, how many was it? >> Nine. >> Nine. I thought it was 10. Okay. Nine. >> Uh, I thought it was 10, too, but one of them is just bent. You know, I don't know if it's actually broken, but you know, I'm not an engineer. >> And then we just write that they do, you know, Captain Security explains that they do rounds and the video footage shows that the cameras were functional and they showed that they were operational. Okay, we'll do all night. Natalia Marina, I'll have him in 10. You can just take a picture. So, tell me that again. Uh, your security officers, they do what rounds throughout the night? throughout the night. >> Rounds by security guards are conducted every hour. >> The lights were functional yesterday and had been fixed just yesterday. >> When was the last time they conducted that around? And I know in the cameras when I saw it, what time would that be? Like 06 6:30 or something. >> 0658 is when they were >> 758. >> Yeah, 758 is when they told me. >> We don't have an officer. >> So, what was the last time that they saw him? 6:30 my officer my officer probably 6:30 >> and as of 06 >> on 7th September >> 23 >> the child's aunt faced multiple charges including criminal mischief resisting arrest without violence and child under Florida law she could face up to 11 years in prison and an $11,000 fine this incident illustrates the delicate balance authorities must maintain between enforcing the law and ensuring the safety of individuals It [music] also underscores the educational and humanitarian role of legal intervention in protecting children. Looking at someone's behavior, we can't always guess their profession. This is the mother's occupation. >> What do you do for work? >> I'm primary care doctor. >> And this is how she applies it in her daily life. >> Now, there's another statement from another child that your wife on a garbage can. >> On February 2nd, 2025, Palm Coast police received a call from a boy reporting his mother's concerning behavior and expressing worry for his younger sister. When officers arrived, the boy ran out, hugged an officer tightly, and tearfully said he needed help. Signs of distress, along with complaints of headaches and dizziness, indicated he was experiencing physical and emotional strain, [music] prompting the police to quickly engage with the mother. >> Trying to run it by name or anything. >> Does he uh does he have any disabilities or anything like that? >> Physical. >> What was that? >> Physical? No. >> Okay. No. No. Uh, educational disabilities, learning disabilities. >> Yes. >> Okay. No. Autism? No. >> No. >> Okay. ADHD? >> No. >> Okay. Is it locked? >> I Yes. >> Is it Is the car registered to you? >> Yes. >> Just because he called us, we have to come out here and do our investigation. Okay. >> There's no fire. >> What? >> There's no fire. >> Fire? >> Well, it's an ambulance. And the firefighters are also medically trained. >> So um so I just want to confirm your story again. So there's playing video game, correct? And you needed him to do chores, throw away rappers that he brought upstairs then when he wasn't supposed to. Correct. >> Yes. >> So you went upstairs, brought a trash can up to him and just left it there originally >> for him to clean up. You left, took a couple minutes, went back up. He still didn't do it right. So then he picked up the trash can and hit him on top of the head with it. >> Just >> Okay. And then after that, what did you just put the trash can back down or >> put it out by him? >> You what? >> Put it down right by him. >> Okay. At any point, did you like take the chair out from under him or anything to get him out moving? >> Pull his chair up. >> You pull his chair out? Yep. >> Like from underneath him. So like he fell to the ground. >> He didn't stand up. So he refused to support himself. >> Okay. So you're kind of just like him out of the chair to get him to stand up. >> All right. And then after that, you just left the room >> and I went back. It was one side of the house to the other. >> Were you guys yelling this entire time at each other? >> I was yelling at him. He was screaming. I telling him to clean up, >> pick up the wrapper, and clean. >> How old is your oldest son here? >> He's 19. >> He's 19. Do Do you have a husband? >> Yes. He's in Greece. >> Oh, he's in Greece for work or something? >> Actually, he's on vacation. Oh, >> okay. >> Okay, I got you. All right. So, let me talk to him real quick. We'll get back with you. Okay. >> Do you want his number? >> Your husband? Not right now. We're okay right now. >> If you could just stand over there. We just got to discuss real quick. Interestingly, both the mother and her husband are doctors, a profession that [music] demands patience and compassion. Yet, she seemed unaware of the impact her actions had on the children. >> Just real quick, your other son, he How old is he? >> 19. >> 19. And your daughter? >> She's 11. >> 11. Okay. And there's no other friends or family that stay here? Just you, your three children, and your husband? >> Yeah. >> And a dog. >> And a dog. Okay. Let me get your husband's name. We're just finishing up our investigation. Whenever we're completed, then you'll be good to go meet your son at the hospital. Okay. >> Yeah. He's in Greece. >> Your husband >> in Greece. >> Is it work trip or >> no? >> Vacation. >> Vacation. >> Without all you guys? >> Well, the two kids are in school. >> Okay. >> The two little ones are in school. >> Mhm. >> And someone has to be with them. I don't think you want a 19year-old in charge of two 11year-olds for >> I mean I don't know how your 19year-old is but I mean >> for 26 days. >> That's a long time. Hey grocery runs and all that. >> He doesn't have a license. >> Oh no. He doesn't want one or is it just What's the reason? >> He just never wanted one. >> Usually you think a bunch of 18, 19 year olds, they'd love to get their license. So when I was 16, I wanted those keys in a way that >> Yeah, I'm pretty sure pretty much every kid does. Soon as you turn 16, >> there's a lot of kids nowadays that >> No, no, no. It's cuz all those kids have those electric bikes now. You know, those things can go like 50 miles per hour anyways. You don't need a license. What do you do for work? >> I'm primary care doctor. >> Oh, okay. You and your husband? >> Both of us. That's why I knew that they didn't do >> the hospital. Yeah. >> At the hospital. >> I got you. >> Not that they can't do a cat scan or, you know. >> Yeah. They're not specialized to >> No, they don't even staff pediatricians. >> Oh, really? Okay. >> And they don't deliver babies unless >> you know, obviously >> emergency. >> Someone rolls up. >> Yeah. >> In active labor. And >> I got you. You and your husband work for the same one? >> Yeah, we work together. >> Okay. That's the other reason why I can't go. >> You're working, taking care of the >> One of us has to be here. >> Yeah. Um, whenever we're finished here, you can go check out with your kid. If he needs to further medical attention, you can transfer him to a hospital that, >> you know, specializes in it. >> Um, I'm sure he doesn't. >> Yeah, that's I mean, if somebody says they want to go to the hospital, you know, we have to. Yeah, >> but if he can walk, he can [clears throat] run from the second floor all the way down. >> Mhm. I don't know. Like, I wasn't here for the argument. It could have been the adrenaline that he's feeling right now. >> Yeah. >> Then the adrenaline dump. He said he was feeling dizzy and all that. Usually, as soon as that adrenaline, you know, washes away, maybe you feel like you're about to pass out, your legs are going to give out. If you're running from here all the way down to up the second floor, all the way down the stairs to that, I'm guessing that all four extremities are working. >> It's probably just the adrenaline pumping through them at that time. >> I just got to go upstairs and get some pictures of where you guys got into this argument. >> Can you show us? >> Yeah. >> Rappers are gone. >> You put them in the trash can. >> No. >> Oh, you did? >> Okay, >> that's easy. >> Oh, we're going through this way. Since the father was abroad, temporary child care was entrusted to the grandmother. From there, the police made their final decisions regarding the case. >> Ran away from the house, ran to the guard station. The guard station called my wife. I don't know why my wife and the mother, but whatever. Number. >> Yeah. >> And so, so my wife had to come get him from the guard station. And you'll have to verify all this. Yeah, >> but you will just I guess I wasn't there and then grabbed the phone. I don't know how this will happen. Went downstairs, called 911 or something like that. >> The altercation was with the boy over a video game throughout the night. >> Okay. Yes, we we weren't aware of that. We did get the 911 call from your son and what he's telling us is, you know, and your wife said your wife said that I might be a little off here. and getting a third party deputy another car that you know he was being disrespectful wouldn't clean his room so she smacked him in the state of Florida your child is legal >> it's legal um she said she did that alter the alter >> can you let me can you let me finish sir and I'll tell you why at the hospital and why we're here even admitted that he was sitting in the chair and he refused to get up so she pulled the chair off from under him and he fell to the ground now there's another statement from another child that your wife with a garbage can said she observed that so we're still trying to sort this out. He has so many different stories, but this whole new altercation with his other child is a totally different story that we have to go inside and investigate. Right now, what we're trying to get at >> Yeah. What we're getting at is >> with the boy. >> He He's afraid to go home. Now, the emergency room is calling Department of Children and Families, and we're trying to sort all this out. We're trying to get other family members down here to assist us with the other kids. Is there somebody else you can call that one can come to the hospital or one can go to the home? >> Well, I have a 19-year-old son at home. >> He has no driver's license, though. That's our problem. School is tomorrow. >> I have a I have a mother who lives in Orman 15 20 minutes away. >> Could you give her a call and see if she wants to come up here to the hospital with us? >> Absolutely. >> We're at Absolutely. >> We're at Advent North, the new Parkway. >> Yeah, the new one. If they she just wants to go to the walk in the ER and just say that the deputies told her to meet us here, they'll call us and we'll come speak to her. >> Yeah, fine. Fine. I'll have her come over. I have a call right now. I know she's at home. I'll have her come to Abush Parkway. Yeah. Um, should she call you now or call you when she arrives at Palm Coast Parkway? >> When she gets to the hospital, that way I can tell staff to let her in into the back. >> I'll have her I'll have her drive out at Palm Co. and then I'll have her. >> Do you Do you know your son? Did he sleep over someone's house last night? Oh, that was just this morning. You know the address where he was at? >> No, no, no. He slept he was there all day, all night. >> Okay. This morning? >> Do you know the address? >> I know it's in the plantation. I'll I'll ask we'll ask we'll get it from your wife. >> Yeah. And and the the whole issue was there was a physical altercation between him and his boy. That's why he ran away this morning. >> Gotcha. >> And went to the guard station because he was reported to the guard that he was hurt and that's why the guard called 911. >> Okay. We'll we'll sort it out and I'll either I'll call you back or we'll get someone to call you back. Thank you for your uh your appreciation. All right. Bye. >> Thank you. Hello. >> Hey, Christine. The sun. >> Yeah. >> Here. You go ahead take a seat. >> All right. Thank you. >> The mother identified as Dr. Christine Garrett was charged with child abuse without great bodily a thirdderee felony [music] and was booked into Flaggler County Jail. Under Florida law, she could face up to 5 years in prison with bail set at $5,000. The story of the boy in Palm Coast is [music] not an isolated case. It reflects the reality that when family pressures exceed limits, children, the most vulnerable, are often the ones most profoundly affected. They were called to respond to a family dispute which later led to additional consequences due to the mother's difficulty managing her emotions. >> All right. >> I am located. >> Yeah, you did. You have a warrant on for your arrest. >> For what? >> For Put your hands together. >> So, Michael's not in the house. >> No. >> Okay. You don't care if we check the house. Make sure Michael's not in there. >> Okay. My mother-in-law's here. That's fine. We'll call her out beforehand. >> Mhm. Hey, 16. You can come to the front door. >> Hey, ma'am. Welcome to your mother. >> She's in the back bedroom. >> Okay. >> Put you in a car over here real quick, dear. We'll get you some shoes. Stop breaching. What is in your pocket? >> My vape. I was going to put it down, but >> you have anything illegal on you I'm going to find in the search. >> No, I haven't done anything illegal in a while. >> You have anything in your pockets? >> No. >> Back here. >> Where does Michael work at? He works it >> where >> drive >> drive. >> Okay. All right. I'll be right back with you. >> Now it's [snorts] the father's turn. Oh. He worked all day. Too busy to notice his kids were living in a nest of bacteria. But when the police called to inform him of the charges, his first reaction was, "What? For what? >> He's at work. Never mind. Perfect. West's on the phone with him right now. >> She got a Hello. >> Yes, sir. >> Hey, where are you at, sir? >> Okay. And you're coming back home? >> Yes, sir. >> Uh, I'm going to be honest with you, sir. We have a warrant for you and your wife's ars. Yes. For childing. So, it would behoove you very much to cooperate. >> Okay. >> Okay. Are you going to come back over here to Silvin? That way, you can leave the car here. >> Yeah, I'm going to get picked up. >> Picked up from where? Um, drive. >> Drive. >> Yeah. >> Okay. What's the address on drive? Um, how long it will be till you get there? >> 25 half hour. >> 25 minutes to half hour. >> What's his phone number? >> What's your phone number, sir? All right. Thank you, sir. We will probably have an officer meet you there to transport you to Summit County Jail. We appreciate your cooperation. >> Can I ask you a quick question real quick? >> Absolutely, sir. What's going on? >> Why do we have a warrant for arrest? >> Uh, for six counts of child injury. >> Okay. We've been going through the CSB case for about since the beginning of January about the end of December. >> Right. Well, the children's services case is completely separate from the criminal investigation. >> Huh? >> I said the children's services case is completely separate from the criminal investigation. You want to grab her a pair of shoes? You don't have >> Yeah. >> You got life? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Actually, I'll grab the pair of shoes. >> Just remember that's >> You haven't gone in. Grab the Just let him grab the pair. I guess I'll see you guys at the shop. Let me call my boss. Let me know what's going on. >> Thank you, sir. >> What's her name? >> Kaitton. >> Kimberly. Where's a Where's a pair of shoes for her, dear? >> She's going to be uh going to the jail, unfortunately. >> Yeah, it's still bad. >> Nope, that's not >> walked in there. >> Yeah, I know. It's still bad. >> The roaches didn't hide. >> Yeah, >> it ain't that big of a deal. She'll be out tomorrow. >> Yeah, she'll be arraigned. She'll have her day in court, dear. >> No reason to get all worked up over it. little. >> Oh god. Seeping seeping out in the air. >> Yes, ma'am. >> You're a stronger man than I. >> But don't worry, the mother had her script ready. The piles of filth and disgusting scenes were brushed off with one shameless line. I'm the only one who cleans. She even claimed it was reasonable for all six kids to be taken away. Clearly, she never intended to clean or to give those children a decent place to live. All right, dear. Yeah, let me turn this light on. [snorts] [snorts] >> What? That light doesn't work. So, >> all right, dear. What I'm going to do is your rights. All right. Cuz right now, you are under arrest before I can talk to you. Having these rights in mind, you're willing to talk to me about why you're under arrest tonight? Why no wife on your list? >> It's a six count of child. I was actually the original officer that responded out here with children services when they were removed from the home. Do you remember me now? >> Yeah. >> Okay. I mean, do you understand why the children were removed from the home in the first place? >> Yes. >> I mean, how did how did how did it get that bad? How did the mess, the animals I mean, I'm going to be honest with you. That's the worst house that that day that was the worst house I ever walked into. It's a little cleaner now. That's the worst house I ever walked into that had people living in. How does How does it get like that? And I was the only one doing anything. >> Okay. So, you didn't have any help? Okay. >> He works too much, so I didn't have any help. >> Do you at any point like look around the house and go, "This is a problem. These living conditions are not okay." >> Yeah. We finally got the basement fixed. >> Yeah. Well, I'm talking I mean the kids being removed. I know that was a wakeup call. Can we both agree that was kind of a wakeup call? But before that, did you ever look around and go, "Something here has to change. My children shouldn't live in this kind of filth right now. Why didn't you change it, dear? >> I mean, be honest with me here. And this is just Do you When the children were removed from the home, do you think that was the right choice? >> Yes. >> You don't think that the living conditions were suitable? And you just I mean you would you say you were kind of at a loss of what to do with everything? >> Yeah. >> You're saying Mike wasn't helping you out? >> No, he works too much. >> I got you. >> He's still working, >> right? Is that is that your mom or is that his mom? >> That's his mom. >> Does she help out at all with the kids or anything? >> She watches the kids every now and then, >> but she's up in her 60s. >> I gotcha. All right, dear. Well, yeah. So, I mean, that's why you're being arrested. It's the state of that home that the children were in. It rises to the level of criminality. The kids shouldn't have to suffer. There's going to be a uh prisoner wagon that's going to come. They're going to take you to county. They'll book you in. You'll be arraigned tomorrow. That's where they're set bail and everything like that. Um >> supposed to see the kids tomorrow. >> This is all stuff that they can work with you and everything like that. That's what CSB is there for. All right, dear. Both parents faced six counts of child under Ohio law. They could each face up to eight years in prison along with fines ranging from $10,000 to $15,000. [music] No matter what, once you have children, excuses are no longer an option. Responsibility is if life is hard, get to work. If you've done wrong, make it right. If you failed before, show remorse. Don't let your mistakes keep [music] falling on children who can't protect themselves. with Ravia. 26 years old, the biological mother of a three-year-old girl suffering from severe malnutrition, barely surviving in an apartment filled with bed bugs, trash, and flies. >> [ __ ] poor kid. >> January 8th, 2024, in Fairborn, Ohio. A panicked 911 call from a mother claiming her child was in critical condition. Things got worse when she gave a false name, stalling the investigation from the start. Thankfully, the child's father showed up, bringing a truth no one saw coming. >> So, how did you come to find yourself over here? >> She called me and was freaking out, telling me that my daughter was malnourished and that she was sorry and she had to go. >> Where would she go? >> I have no idea. Her mom lives in Yellow Springs um in the uh the um apartments over there by the horse track. Is my daughter okay? Well, she's in route to Children's Hospital right now. Do you have an ID on your partner? >> I do. >> What is your daughter's name? >> Check it out. >> Where would she be going? >> I have no idea. >> She has no family around here. >> So, like I said, her mom lives in Yellow Springs and I don't know where her sister lives anymore. I know that she's been talking to a lot of people online. >> Can I get a picture of this eventually? Okay, I'll just give it back to you for now. So, >> you got a number? I can send it to you. Is this a screenshot? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Yeah, I use my work phone. >> Yeah, she's been talking to a lot of guys online. She's been Yeah. >> on Destiny all night cuz I didn't think this was going to happen. >> When's the last time you saw your daughter? >> It's been a while. She um had kept telling me that she didn't want me around her because she had had issues with when she was a child. And uh because of that she was uncomfortable with us being in the same room. Any reasons to why she was asleep every time I came over. >> Okay. And when you saw her And when you saw her 2 or 3 weeks ago, her she was in good health or she was okay. >> And now the reveal. After her father's she spiraled, quit her job, left home, and dumped her child to flirt with men online. Tragically, they had already lost their first child to the same reckless lifestyle. >> So, does she have problems or what's going on? She smokes pot, but I don't think that's the cause of it. About I want to say 6 months ago, we split up because her father died and she went completely off rails after that. She stopped cleaning. She stopped taking care of everything. It led to many arguments. She had asked me to quit my job 2 years prior. And uh I listened because she was making like $1,000 a week. And uh so I told her, you know, because I knew she was struggling, get me clothes. I will go get a job. I will take care of everything. She said, "No, I want you to stay here." And it kept turning into fights until I caught her cheating me or on me with some people online. And uh she's just been in this in this spiral. She hasn't cleaned up the room. The last time I uh but she doesn't clean her own room. I think the only reason she cleaned that room is because I told her that I'm seriously her up. I thought my daughter in any kind of condition because we lost our first daughter because she had issues. I was the reason we were allowed to keep this one. And uh >> you lost your first daughter like she they had to put her up for adoption or >> Yeah. Yeah. CPS took her because I had taken her to my uncles and an old friend of mine that I looked at like a brother had his gun on him and he was uh exmilitary. So I had assumed, you know, everything was fine. I didn't know he had it on him at the time. He pulled it out to clean it. I wasn't paying attention and he shot himself in the knee. Okay. I guess it was a bullet wedged in where he was trying to dislodge and the handle cocked forward and snapped a bullet in his knee and because of that along with uh they said that she had marks on her back which I had assumed was from swelling in a stroller that uh they needed to take custody. Okay. Would you humor me? I know she said that her phone's going on airplane mode but can you text her back and say hey I'm talking to the police like you need to come back here or something to that effect. Thank you. >> Okay. Then police [snorts] entered. In front of them was a scene no one wanted to believe. A severely malnourished baby lying in trash struggling for life. But luckily she's breathing. >> Fairborn Police Department. Fairborn Police Department. Fairborn Police. >> Which one is it? Left >> the older lady. Uh they always come in here and check. >> Nobody's answering. >> All right, let's go. Fairmore Police Fairmore Police Department >> 305. Good. >> When my owner called an hour back, a older male answered her phone that he has no idea who Area is and no one needs his phone. However, 911. God damn. Fairboard Police. She was on Wallace. >> I'm good. >> When she called according to the verifi, she's breathing. She's still breathing. >> Let's go. Let's go. >> She's still breathing. I don't know where >> right here. Yeah, she's still breathing. I'll get out of your way. Sorry. >> Yeah, I'll get out of the way. >> I say just pick up and let's go. >> Yeah. >> Where are these mugs here? >> Oh my god. Ah, >> respond. >> We haven't even got that far. Uh, let's get pictures started. We called you. >> Now, let's tour the place she called home. Even the cops couldn't help but curse at the disgusting mess inside. >> Police here go. >> Hey, can you and one of your guys responded down here? We found this kid barely alive. Medics are rushing uh the kid to the hospital. Yep. Yep. We're finishing up trying to clear this place, but you're definitely going to want to be down here. All right. Thanks. Bye. >> Yeah, I think Zach ripped that one off and so you go ahead. Jeez. More police. 295. Can you see what history we have at this address, please? Jesus Christ. Poor kid. Sorry, let me get out of your way. >> All right, so we did secondaries. [music] >> That's [ __ ] terrible. >> Yeah, it's bad. >> They began investigating to track down the mother. But in that filthy pile of trash, was there any clue left behind? >> Huh? So the person who called not here and then they called it back was a guy. Did you guys hear that part of it? >> Yeah, I was I once I saw the kid I zed out. >> So the lady who called obviously isn't here. They called the number back. A guy answered and said he has no idea who >> good. >> We have Jasmine listed as of September. >> Yeah, let's do that. which might be Susan Win, Ronnie Day Jr. and I don't know. Yeah, go ahead and start getting pictures. I'm going to go up here and not see if they got anything. >> Thank you. >> Let me go get my big light for you. Of course, I forgot that it's still charging. >> I got one. I think maybe in my bag. >> Lady upstairs came out and said it was a mouse on the >> Luna and uh Luna and Cory is who she's known to live here, but she said she never seen it. You straight ripped that door off. >> I was just trying to >> Yeah, I don't know. I >> like Holy Toledo. That's disturbing me. >> I don't blame you. Disgusting. I'm going to go get with Johnny and them. A three-year-old girl weighing just 16 pounds is living proof of the brutal consequences of parent. And not just her, any child raised in filth faces risks of malnutrition, infection, skin disease, parasites, even food poisoning from poor hygiene. >> So obviously you heard the call. We show up here. >> The door is kind of a jar. I'm like, uh, they said there's a kid in there. Nobody's answering. Let's go in. We go in, find the kid, maybe two, three, emaciated, covered in bites. We thought she or he we >> was on the floor but was barely breathing. Medic scooped her up, ran to the hospital. Okay, >> this is what we have. >> That's what we're working on. Soph's going down to the apartment complex right now. They said radia or something like that. Sound like a preformed. >> Yeah. >> This is her apartment >> supposedly. That's what we're trying to determine the call >> again. Yes. But it sounds like a male came back on the line the second time or something like that. I Ronnie Day Jr. Nothing with radio in there. So that's what they're trying to determine is who belongs here and who called us. But we got pictures and obviously I called out code enforcement. So but yeah, if you guys want to I don't know if you want to look through there. I might have booties if you want them. >> I guess so. And it was the back back bedroom there with the pink. >> The one with the one with the door ripped off. >> You were live. >> Yes. Yes. Yeah. >> So, >> I'm going to I'm going to grab the booty booties before there. >> Huh? >> I don't know if you heard the and basically we showed up here because somebody said they found a 2 or threeyear-old breathing hard hard to breathe. So, we go up doors open. Nobody's answering. We go in, found probably 3-year-old in the back completely emaciated, covered in bug bites. We thought she was, but she was barely breathing. So medics came in, scooped her up, but cat known man in there. Bugs everywhere. The >> initial search zinc and I did. Um, >> so this will be one of those ones that we're just going to take his body cam. [music] >> Yeah, absolutely. Yeah, we were both live. I mean, we don't know. So, I don't want to go in and get absolutely obvious and have it on the door. We'll go up and contact the office. Let us know in just anybody in here or your investigation, if you want us to have them. >> Got nothing. Okay. >> Thanks to the seamless coordination between the police and the father, Ravio was arrested. Despite her earlier creative exit, sending a sorry text, switching to airplane mode, and vanishing. Unfortunately for her, Justice [music] doesn't lose signal, and this time she might not get the chance to switch to any mode again. >> At around 10:00 a.m., my ex- fiance called me to tell me my child in her care was unconscious. be longer saying she was leaving and she was sorry. I left from my uncle's house to rush over after telling her to calm down only to receive a message saying she was putting her phone in airplane mode and running off and that she was sorry and to get my things from the apartment. I arrived at the police outside her door only to find that she was gone and my child was taken to the hospital. >> I appreciate that, man. >> Well, right now we're trying to figure out a whole bunch of things, right? a whole bunch of details. >> You need a visit. My back is killed. >> Um, >> what you what do you want >> to sit down? >> Yeah, we're going to have you can have a seat in the back of my car. >> Are you guys taking me? >> What's that? >> Are you guys taking me? >> Uh, yeah, we are. Okay. >> Okay. My stuff to him then, please. >> I I'll take care of that. Let's uh let's walk in the front of my car. All right. Okay. Just right here is good. Um, if you want to face my car, you don't have Just put your hands out to your sides. Nothing. Nothing on your uh in your pockets at all. No pockets. You have >> just underwear underneath your sweats. >> Not underwear. Just >> Just your sweats. Okay. Oh, perfect. Go ahead and put your palms together behind your back. >> Tell me how tell me how to say your name. >> Robia. Robia. My name is Ryan. I'm a detective. Uh and I am the detective that's going to be handling this case. >> You can call me I can't. I I can't. It's going to be a little bit. So, right now, um, you're going to be taken to the Fairborne Police Department. There's some administrative things that we have to do there. Take a picture and some [music] some fingerprints, but I'm going to be down to talk to you, uh, soon. Okay. All right. So, we'll work through it. >> So, I I can't I can't give you an answer like that only because I don't know. All right. Very good. Again, I will be down to talk to you uh in just a little while. All right. Okay. >> These aren't too tight, are they? Okay. Let's go around to the pastor's side here. Have a seat. What's this fella's name back here? >> Travis, can you please tell him that that stuff right there needs to go to my kid's dad? The one that was over here earlier. >> Just Just hang out right there, man. I'll be right with you. >> Yeah. Just give me a second. >> All right. >> Is there any way you could cuff me in the front? I have spinal problems and it's really >> Yeah. Yeah, I can do that. Just uh can you turn Can you turn Uh, let's see here. Hang on a second. There we go. All right. Just uh just like that. All right. 875. >> We'll try to uh >> Yeah, >> Ravia, 26, was with multiple serious offenses, felony, children, and child. On July 23rd, 2024, after pleading guilty in court, she was sentenced to 9 years in prison without bail and began serving her sentence immediately.
