Get in there. >> Get out. YOU >> WHAT happened tonight? >> Freedom of speech. >> What happened tonight? >> I need you. [screaming] >> Some incidents don't come from serious [music] intentions, but from poor decisions. And those decisions can still lead to major consequences. >> She was she was fighting everybody. She went from 20 then to 15 and then to 10 when she was talking to >> Let's go through each story because behind every official report, there's always a lesson worth reflecting on. A routine traffic stop suddenly turned into a lesson in integrity when the driver who lost control happened to be connected to someone in uniform. Would the rules still be upheld? >> I have one out of our garage. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. Really? >> Really? >> Oh, what the [ __ ] You're going to listen. >> On May 9th, 2023, authorities received a report about a woman driving a black SUV in an unsafe manner, nearly causing a serious situation with a child also inside the vehicle. Officers made contact, but the woman initially refused to step out and did not cooperate, forcing them to take precautionary measures to ensure everyone's safety. >> All right, so uh we got a call for a 47. It was a black SUV with that license plate number. So, the vehicle was uh she's scratching me with help. Uh the vehicle was uh parked right here. Okay. So, I parked down there by the key energy to try to see the vehicle pull out so I can get observations of the vehicle cuz we had a caller that didn't want contact. So, at that time, our uh somebody said that it may be a conflict for us. And at that time, a mod pulled up next to her and a mod pulled up next to her. Uh she took off driving, went uh southbound and then kind of the curb real hard, almost hitting that fence and then a mod blocked her in. And then that's when I pulled up next to her way. [screaming] Get this motherucker out of my car. One step out. >> Get out. Dispatch, can we get an ETA on county? Desray, step out of the car. >> 18's 97. >> I'm defense. >> Desire, step out of the car. Well, my name is Officer S. I'm with the hospital police department. Okay. The reason I'm making contact with you is cuz we got a call in that you're intoxicated driving. Okay. Obviously, when I saw you, you just drove onto a curb and almost struck a fence. Okay. So, I'm going to need you to step out. Okay. Did you take the keys out? You can stay in the car. Just give me your key fob. Where's the key fob, girl? Do you have it on you? >> No. >> There it is. >> Oh, really? >> You You're not getting any any because who you know it don't matter. Okay. You know it's against against the law to be driving under the influence. Correct. >> It's not to keep up. >> Okay. You do know that, right? So, I don't know why you think you're above the law because who you're dating. >> You going to get out of the car? I'm going to have to pull you out cuz we're not playing a game like you did with the other officers. Okay. You going to get out of the car? >> What game are we playing? I'm not playing any game with you. Are you going to get out of the car? Yes or no? >> No. >> Okay. >> Out of our garage. >> Oh, really? >> Yeah. Really? >> Really? >> Oh, what the [ __ ] >> You're going to listen. >> You don't get any favors because who you're dating. You understand that? >> Don't resist. >> I want to stop. I can call your >> Stop. >> No. >> Yeah. Stop. You already messed up. Stop, man. >> We're 15. >> You're not wrong. Stop. You're wrong. Stop. You did this. >> You That is not on the >> coming block of northwest. >> You're in cuffs. I don't know why you're doing that. >> The unexpected detail. The woman turned out to be romantically linked to a senior officer who worked with those on the scene. >> I'm sorry. You >> all right? >> I'm sorry. >> I mean, I just don't I don't know her issue. >> I'm so embarrassed. I don't I tried. >> Was a child inside the car? You grab the car? You grab the kid? >> Yeah, I watched him get the kid out of the car. I did. >> Cuz I was pulling. >> Okay. Get the child's information. >> Yeah. >> Are you I guess your mom? >> Grandma. >> Grandma. I had no clue. >> I saw it on the way and I called Sergeant. No, >> he was doing it, but he was supposed to started rolling and I didn't want it, right? >> No, I know. I called Sergeant on the way over here cuz I saw the return. >> I got way too much of a >> Dez, relax. Come on. >> I got no part of none of this. Okay. [laughter] >> Cuz last time we got an internal altercation with her, she refused to get out of the car for like 30 minutes. I told her, "Dude, there's people there. You need to get out of the car." She's like, "I'm not getting out." So, at that time, I pulled her out. She kind of tussled, fought with us a little bit, and she was placed in the hand in hand in handcuffs. There was an infant inside the car the time all this happened. Grandma has the the child now. Officer Olenick is running the grandma through Sky to make sure the child can get released to uh to grandma. >> Okay. >> Okay. So, she's in custo right now. Obviously, it's a complex for us cuz it's Sergeant White's girlfriend, wife, I don't know. Significant other, I don't know. I don't know what you call her. Okay. >> You got it. Okay. Thank you. All right. >> Thanks, buddy. You >> don't need anything from us? >> So, when you got here and you guys started, right, you pulled her out. Who pulled her out of the vehicle? I >> I grabbed her. I pulled her out cuz she refused to refuse to give uh listen to my commands and then I was I was afraid that she was going to pull forward cuz uh we're trying to find the key fob to remove it from the vehicle. So, it couldn't get mobile cuz I mean, if you go through your vehicle, I mean, close the door. Yeah. It's facing the house. And that was my fear that she was going to drive forward and possibly somebody inside the house. So, she was you were telling her, "Get out." >> Yeah. You're going to get out of the car. She's like, "No, I'm not getting that's I grabbed her uh left arm and I pulled it. She kind of buckled to her legs or like to her knees. I picked her up. At that time, she started putting her nails in my in my fingers and my hands. >> No, >> I'll just take pictures of those. >> You know, >> huh? >> You want to email?" >> No, I'm going to call them right now. >> Wait, Sky or CP? >> I'm on the sky right now. >> I haven't seen a while. I know. >> Here, I'll take the picture. >> Anything else? >> Uh, it's the only >> She appeared to believe that this relationship might help her avoid consequences. Records show she repeatedly refused to cooperate and reacted emotionally toward the officers. >> Hello, Deputy Sanchez with the Lee County Sheriff's Office. Are you okay? Do you need medics to come see you? >> No. >> Okay. Okay. So, they're going to switch out the cuffs. Okay. So you guys from above or >> No, I'm taking it. >> Yeah. >> Come on, D. >> You want to Yeah, we're going to want to see if she'll do a separate. >> Yeah, we're just going to talk to her. >> I'm still talking to her. If you guys want to go that way, I'm sorry. Thank you guys. >> Hey, Des. So, obviously you were driving, right? And I can clearly smell that you were drinking. I don't know your whole situation. I don't know what's going on, but I just wanted to ask you, do you want to submit to some tests to see if you're fit for to drive? What was that? No. Okay. Okay, that's fine. Um, >> what's your name? >> It's Sanchez. >> What is it? >> No, that's a different officer. >> Yeah. Why do you want that officer? >> No. >> Is there something with that officer? I don't. Yeah. I'm not that I'm not the officer that Okay. >> You good? >> Over here. >> Okay. We're going to take them off over here. >> You're good, girl. told me he subordinate. Ready for you. Okay. No, you have to get me. >> I don't know why he would say that. Go ahead. >> He said he you know as a subordinate. Okay. Let's go. No. >> Get on. Don't go ahead and get up. >> Get on. No. Am said he [ __ ] you as the subordinate right now. Go ahead and get >> No. Jasmine, he told me he [ __ ] you. Get up. >> Get up. Or you're going to go >> get up. You're going to catch more charges. Get up. >> Get up. >> No, I don't. Get out. >> Get up. >> Get up. >> Get in there. >> Watch your step and just watch your step. >> Get in there. >> I'm asking you to get in there. Please watch >> me as my case against y'all. >> He told me he get. >> No. He told me. >> Get in there. >> He get YOU UP. >> GET IN THERE. >> THAT'S ENOUGH. >> THAT'S ENOUGH. NOW KNOCK IT OFF. I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU AGAIN. YOU'RE GOING TO KNOCK IT OFF. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO COME OUT HERE AND KICK ONE OF MY DEPUTIES. >> THANK YOU. >> ARE YOU GOING TO STOP OR ARE YOU GOING TO STOP? >> THANK YOU FOR THE EVIDENCE. >> ARE YOU GOING TO NOW STOP? >> NO. Thank you. >> Sit up. >> Thank you. >> Sit up. No. Thank you for the evidence. >> No. Don't you sit up. Huh? Cheers. I'm good. I can't. >> Yeah. You >> good? >> Yeah, I'm good. >> Search for battery. I'll probably figure that out. >> In contrast, the accompanying family members remain calm and cooperative, helping the officers complete the necessary documentation smoothly. >> So, you have both both I have my granddaughter and my husband pick up my grandson from he was at 7:00. >> Okay. Hi, Yes, ma'am. Can you tell me where she's been taken to or head to? >> She's going to be going to the sheriff's. Well, we're going to take over the sheriff's department. Um, she'll be going to county in Lington. Yes. So, she'll probably have to be detoxed. So, that's a 12-hour detox. And then once she's done with the detox, it's going to be new charges. So, she'll have to see a judge. Okay. So, after the 12 hours, she's able to make a phone call. But during the 12 hours, she has to no contact us, detox. Yes, ma'am. >> Well, cuz I'll be at work. >> Okay. So, yeah, more than likely. What time is it now? >> 7:30 by. >> Yeah. So, probably like noonish, 11 even. Okay. Yes, ma'am. All right. Oh, you're welcome. >> Yes, ma'am. Your >> vehicle, right? >> Yep. >> Okay. Do you mind if I look in it? >> You do anything you need to do. >> I just wanted to get your >> No free ring. Have at it. >> Like the do whatever you need to do. You have my permission. Get after. I was already at home. I'm tracking her and I'm like, "Where are you at?" She said she was on. I was like, "Well, you need to get over there and get your son." So, she wasn't responding. I'm like, "This is kind of weird." Like, she was on the phone, but she wasn't saying anything. And so, I asked her, "Have you been drinking?" She didn't say nothing. I was like, "Okay." Tracking the phone. Tracking the phone. I hear a call come out and they described my car. I don't know my 28, but I know my car if you describe it to me. I'm driving down this way. I see Solomon parked down there and I'm like, "Why ain't he doing nothing?" cuz she was right here where my car is. Look, she was like this. She was at this angle facing that way, right where the guard was resting. She was right here. So, I swing around and I pull up next to her and I said, "Hey man, turn the car off." Cuz I didn't know if she had the baby or not. My focus was to get the car stopped to get the baby out. If you drive off and you crash, that's on you. But Solomon saw it. She started rolling forward and I said, "Stop her." She was rolling just like not accelerating, but you know if you got your car and drive and you just come off the brake, you'll start rolling. Literally rolled from here to right there. >> I ran up. I snatched the door open. I put the car in park. I turned it off. I didn't see the key fob, but I have my spare. I keep my spare in my in my unit. >> Watch it, bro. Yo, watch the back, bro. I put it in park. I turned the car off. I didn't say a word to her. I ran around the other side cuz I could see baby's feet. So, I'm trying to think before she gets the conscious effort to try to put this car back in drive or turn it on. I run around. I grab the baby and then I ran right up to her mom and I was like, "Take the baby." Olen rolls up. He was like, "Sergeant, we got it." I said, "Please deal with that." And I backed up. The only reason I'm here is cuz this mother went answer the phone. So, I'm tracking and I'm like, "Something ain't right." >> Mhm. >> Obviously, I was right. >> So, when you went to the driver's seat, you obviously smelled alcohol coming from her. I'm a recovering alcoholic, so I have a hard time smelling. The only thing this nose is good for is beer and whiskey. I can smell those, too. >> Well, how did she see? Cuz you've dealt with >> She sat there just like this. Didn't She did not say a word to me, but I didn't really give what she was saying. I was just trying to get the car in park, turn it off, and get to the baby. Bro, >> this was too much. I'm just trying to get home to my baby. >> Oh, you don't understand what happened a while ago. But yes, it is too much. So, >> I'll just wait till he gives me the numeric and then I'll transport her and see where we go. See if she gets more charges or not. So, >> the woman was taken to the station where she prepared for the breathing test. >> All right, Desert, we're going to run the test. Okay. >> Were you going to run the test or not? Yeah. Well, we got to get off here so we can run the test. >> Well, unfortunately, that can't happen. So, are you going to run the test or not? >> I don't. >> Well, we read to you what happens if you don't. They're going to take away your New Mexico license, driving privileges, and then they're also going to have a greater risk sentence that could be imposed on you in court. Take the test or not, so we can get you over to the jail. You're not going to take the test? >> I want to go home. >> So, you're refusing to take the test? I should take you home, please. >> We can't take you home. No, we can't. Please. >> So, listen up. This is going to be the last time I tell you. You've already been read consent five times. Are you going to take the test or not? If you say anything other than a yes or a no, that's your answer is no. You say yes, then we'll get you in here. We'll take the test. Those are your options. Yes. >> All right, let's get inside so we can go and take the test. >> It's just right inside. >> No, we're going in. >> I'm not doing anything. >> So, we're going in. So, first of all, look, we're not going to argue. We can put you back in the unit and take you right to jail. So, we're the ones. They're just getting the door for us. They're just getting the door for us. We're just going there. We're going to do the test. >> He's doing everything. It's conflict. >> So, I'm going to run the test, Des. Does that make sense? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, let's go. He's running it. I'm going to be >> She's holding the door for us. Go ahead. >> It's conflict. >> She's holding the door. >> I'm not going to be in there. >> He's just holding the door for us so we can go inside. >> I can't do both. I can't. Look at the security. It's conflict. >> Well, she's not here, so it's not a conflict. >> Well, she opened the door since she was here. >> Just let me know. Please, >> we can't do that. >> If I If I don't pass this test, >> you said you were going to take the test. Right now, we're here. Now, it's time to take the test. Okay. >> I'm telling you, I will not have my >> Okay. If the machine tones out, we're going to take it as refusal and we're just going to take you right over to the gel. A big blow. >> Breathe in real big. Keep going. >> Please, Victor. >> We still need this second test before we can figure everything out. So, in a second, you're going to do the same thing you did already. >> Same thing. Thank you, bro. >> The result was alarming. 0.36 to 4.5 times the allowable level in New Mexico. Even [music] then, she continued to believe that personal connections could influence the outcome and remained uncooperative. >> She asked Where are we going? >> To the jail. >> I don't want to. >> Well, we have to. >> I want to go home. >> Desire, we're going to go now. >> If we go home, I'm going to press charges on you. >> That's fine. >> Especially because I have evidence. >> Okay, that's fine. >> Come on. We have to take you to the jail. >> No. >> Okay, Desire. So, >> let me tell you. >> Stop that. None of that needs to happen right now. Okay. No, it doesn't. >> So, we're going to escort you if you don't stand up. Yes, we are >> going to be another victim. >> No victim. All right, Sanchez. >> He told me everything. No, he told me. >> Okay, I don't have a a good one either. >> He told me he >> Okay, and that's their business, so stop. >> No, I'm not going to stop. No. >> I have a whole case. No. >> Okay. So, we're going to put you in there if you don't go in there. Desire, you need to listen. >> Victor, take >> No. Can't do that, >> Victor. >> So, listen. You're going to listen now, Desiree. >> All right, >> let's go. >> Desire, >> let's go. >> I can't listen to you. >> Put your legs in, Desiree. >> Desire, I'm going to go around and pull you in. Desp. >> That's not me. That's Pudro. >> All right, I got you, bud. Are you okay? >> I don't want to go home. Please. >> Right now, you're not going to be able to go home. Okay. >> Please let me go home. >> All right. I just need you to calm down. You are not going to go home. >> I need you to go home. >> You are not. >> Please. I'll sue the [ __ ] out of that officer. >> Okay, that's fine. But right now, >> he yanked me out >> and my head and I'll sue the [ __ ] out of him. >> All right. I'm going to >> right now. If you don't comply, >> I need to go home. >> You'll get shot. Okay. >> I need to go home. >> I'm letting you know I can't let you go home. You're arrested. So, do you have a seatelt on you? >> My husband is a model white. >> Okay. >> I raise help. >> I need you to come out here for me. >> Stop. >> I need you to come out. >> Don't listen to me. Don't. >> Okay. I'm going to ask you one more time. Are you going to get out? >> I need to go home. >> No, you're not going to go home right now. >> I have to. >> Please. I have to go home. >> Okay. You got your seat belt on or is it off? >> Come on. Okay, listen. >> You can talk to me here. >> I have to go home. >> Okay, let's talk. >> Do this. >> Come on. >> I can't. >> It's [laughter] easier if you come. You follow the instruction and come out. >> I'm just telling you I can't. >> Okay, I'm going to tell you one more time. >> Why can't you? Are you intoxicated at this time? >> Okay, we'll help you. Come on. >> The officers are willing to help you. So, I suggest you go that way. For the third time, I'm asking you. Are you going to get off? No. I NEED YOU. [screaming] I NEED Come on. Stand up. Come on. >> The woman was charged with aggravated DWI, child, two counts of battery on a peace [music] officer, three counts of resisting, evading, or obstructing an officer, reckless driving, open container, and driving on roadways lane for traffic. No one is immune to mistakes, but the weight of the outcome is always shaped by personal choices. A single moment of poor judgment can leave consequences, both legal and emotional, that last far beyond that day. >> No good feeling. Don't put no light on it. >> Oh, good. Okay, that's part of my >> You got a goose up there. >> You might think officers were trying to calm a child. Not exactly. They were coordinating with the mother to prevent the situation from getting worse. On August 10th, [music] 2024, an emergency call brought Ohio authorities to a parking lot where a mother in an unstable condition was still operating a vehicle with her child inside. A friend attempted to step in. Attentions [music] quickly rose, prompting officers to intervene to ensure everyone's safety. >> Who's in the blue car? Who's in the other vehicle? >> I'm [screaming] >> Huh? You stay over here. Don't go anywhere. >> No, no, no, no, no, no, no. >> Don't move. Stay in your vehicle. >> No, I don't want to drive you. >> Okay. Well, stay right here. Okay. Stay right stay over there. Okay. Is anyone else with you? >> No. I'm by myself. >> Okay. >> Don't I don't want to be touched. Okay. >> I know >> what's >> back. Stupid. Tom, you're dumb as you're supposed to be my best friend. >> Stay over there. >> Stupid. You're stupid. >> Summer. Summer. Stop yelling. This is stupid. You dumbass. >> Stay over there. >> My mom's right there. That's why I'm My She's in the car. >> No, it's another officer. >> No, my mom is right there in the car in that white car. >> Okay. What? What's going on? >> Summer is off her ass drunk. She's trying to go drive with her son. >> Okay, Summer, go talk to the other officer while I go talk to your >> What officer? What officer? >> Right there. Well, if you would. >> She's trying to drive. She wants to go pick her UP. HEY, COME HERE. >> I'M NOT GOING TO TELL YOU AGAIN. Don't >> you dumb ass. You me. You >> sit in the car. Sit in the car. >> Well, let us work through it, but it's not going to do you any good going over there screaming and yelling AT HER. >> YES, IT IS. >> NOW, sit in the car. >> Okay, we can work through that, but I need you to take a breath and not be screaming and yelling at people. Your head hurts. Do you need to see an ambulance? I can jump on this feel. I just try having someone feel and then you want to feel >> just stay here. [crying] >> STOP RIGHT THERE. >> I'M NOT TRYING. WHY ARE YOU going to scream? >> Why are you listen? >> If you guys have an issue with your day, but you guys [laughter] don't have to be disrespected. He has already told you to stay right here and get in the car. YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DISRESPECT past me and go back over there when he already told you to wait. >> You guys are disrespectful. >> Oh my. >> What happened tonight, Summer? >> At least feel my >> not going to feel your head. >> Man, can you get an ambulance? >> I asked you that earlier and you didn't say anything. Do you need an ambulance? >> Remember you asking that? Can someone like feel my head on my >> She's very very >> I know she is. So, >> cuz we went out to Prickles tonight, she was drinking. I wasn't because I'm only 20 and they wouldn't serve to me. So, I went with my mom, my friend, Summer, and my stepdad. Well, my stepdad took her son for the night so that we could go out to the bars and, you know, have a good night. And I don't know, out of nowhere, she just started. She was trying to drive her car, and she was scaring them. I was in my own car. She was trying to drive her car. She was scaring them. So, they called me and said, "Can you please come get her? She's trying to get her son. She's trying to drive home with her son." They said she's almost in cars and stuff like this is not good. We were trying to get her out of the passenger seat and she was pushing everybody, screaming at everybody, cussing everybody. Right here. Okay. >> Yeah. Cussing at everybody, freaking out. And so she started name calling me and she had put her hands on all of us. She was pushing all of us and I hit her back and then she started me back and >> that was it. >> All efforts to obtain a [music] clear statement from the mother were unsuccessful due to her continued resistance. Meanwhile, witnesses at the scene assisted officers by providing information, [music] helping clarify what had happened. >> Dude, just get me the >> squad. Females complaining of her head. >> Get me the out of here. I want to go home. I want to go get my kid. >> Where's your Where's your mom at? >> My mom. I'm 21. I live by myself. She was fighting. Everybody would not calm down. Would not calm down. So then I grabbed her up out the car and then I had put her on the ground. Like I had put her on the ground cuz she would not she would not calm down. >> Okay. What's What is going on tonight? >> We wanted to drive her over there. She is >> She's pretty drunk. >> Yes. And so we wanted to drive her over there to get her baby and drive her and her baby home. She wouldn't have no part of it. She wanted to drive. We tried to like pry her hands from the wheel. We tried to like she and but we don't want her driving like that with her baby in the car. I mean I don't want her driving like that period but with her baby in the car. No, she wanted to go get her baby and I'm like dude you are done. You're drunk. You're No. >> Where did this start at? Over there or here? >> Here. Right here. >> Who you guys know here? How did So, how did the car end up here like this? Did someone car or like what? >> No, he just parked really bad. >> Who drove this here? >> He did. >> You drove the car? >> No. >> I was only trying to get her out. >> Exactly. How did the car end up here? >> Because we were going to, my daughter was supposed to be coming here and we were going to switch cars. >> Mhm. >> Um so that we could take her and her baby home. Um this is her car. This is her car. And we were going to try to um have somebody drive her car, but her and the baby in a different car and just >> back to Club Street. Back to 1520 Club. >> Yeah. And just follow back and drop her car off. Her and her baby. She would not have no part of it. And she >> over there. Stay right here. She is >> right here. I'm not even moving. >> Annihilated. You don't know where she was hanging out though tonight? Was she at your daughter's apartment here? >> We were Where were we? We were at her house actually. >> Yes, we were at her house and then um from her house. This is where we came. >> Okay. >> So she could get her baby, but she was not in any >> Who drove the car here from park it like this? This gentleman right here who's sitting on the Okay. I mean, she's drunk obviously, but like she just doesn't know what's going on. She doesn't know what's going on. >> She's not like that. Just that intoxicated. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Um I mean, I don't know what else to say that. >> She gets pulling here to then go get the baby to come back to then get her car and everything. >> And we wanted to take her and she No, no, I'm driving her whole thing. She's driving and she is in no shape or form to drive herself or >> No, absolutely. Her 2-year-old baby 2-year-old baby. Yeah. No. >> So, she wanted to drive there with him and we were like, whoa. Face that way. You're under arrest for you. >> Wow. based off the clues exhibited while performing field sobriety evaluations. >> I did it. I did. I did it. >> You didn't even You didn't even give me You ain't even You didn't even You didn't even do it. >> The mother was charged with DUI and childment. Under Florida law, she could face up to 5 years and 6 [music] months in prison along with fines ranging from $5,000 to $7,000. Fortunately, no one was hurt this case. But the message remains clear. When someone is not fully [music] fit to be behind the wheel, the danger extends beyond legal consequences. It directly [music] the safety of families and the community. Adults often misjudge time. And the grandmother in this story was no exception. >> But I swear to God, you guys, I was less than 15 minutes in there. >> But moments later, that time was confirmed to be more than twice as long. On June 3rd, 2023, authorities received a call from a Walmart manager reporting that a woman had left her granddaughter alone inside a vehicle. Witnesses became concerned when they noticed the child's small head visible inside the car, even though the engine was off and only a few windows were slightly open. Officers arrived promptly as the woman was about to return. >> How long was she in there? >> About 30 minutes, bro. >> She was in the vehicle for 30 minutes. >> That was her daughter. >> Did I call? >> Like I guess who >> found her? you from her? >> Yeah. I was walking in the parking lot clear in the parking lot like I normally do. As I passed by, I noticed I could barely see a little head over the steering wheel. Like she wasn't even passing the window, dude. She's like small. And I was like, "What the heck?" And then like I kind of like did a little loop around the vehicle to see if there was people in the back seat and there wasn't. And that's when I knew right away. And the vehicle wasn't on. >> So we're conquerors. >> It's because I left. She didn't have shoes. She didn't want to get down. I was only in there, I swear to God, for 15 minutes. I went to get a rake and a blower and that's the only reason why I in there. I left all the windows down. She was in the shade. I know it's I I swear to God it was >> Wait, did you turn You had the vehicle off? >> Yeah. And I had all the windows cracked though. And I swear to God. >> It still gets hot in there. I know. I know. It still gets really hot in there. >> I don't do this. But she was fighting me. And I knew I was only going to be in there for 15 minutes. And I swear to God it was 15 minutes cuz I went and got two things and I came right out. And I know that it's really hot. And that's why I rushed in and I rushed out. I would never leave her in there longer than that. >> Daughter or your granddaughter? >> It's my granddaughter. >> Your granddaughter. Yeah, but I'm raising her cuz my daughter with me. My daughter's an addict, so I'm raising her. But anyway, I don't want to get there, but I know I don't do this often and I swear to God it was only 15 minutes, you know, and all the windows cracked and she was sitting in the shade. And I know I understand it's still hot even if you're in the shade, but I would never leave her in there longer than 15 minutes, you know. I'm not the type that's going to go shopping in Walmart for an hour and children. I mean, when people see kids inside of a vehicle, >> especially when it's hot outside, >> I would report it, too, to tell you the truth. I would report it, too. I'm the same kind of person. I would if I saw a baby in the car, I would definitely report it, too. But I swear to God, you guys, I was less than 15 minutes in there. >> I I I understand what your what your train of thought is, okay? But these cars get super hot. >> No, I know that. No. And I swear, okay, cuz she's sweating. I can see like her hair cuz she's been sweating so much. That's how quick these cars get, >> especially here in the desert. Not for 15 minutes. Who knows what could happen, especially in this area. >> After reviewing security [music] footage, police confirmed the child had been in the car for a full 30 minutes, long enough to alarm any adult. >> I didn't want to approach the little girl and then cuz she had a phone on her, I didn't want her to dial 911 on me. So, I was like kind of adamant about like approaching her. She had a phone on her. cuz I was like, "Well, she's she should be able to call with grandma." >> Did fire give her medical attention or they checked on her or >> No, they didn't even do nothing. They were right here parked the grocery entrance and I told them, "Hey, we got a kid." The halo over there. They pulled up. That's when the grandma pulled up. Maybe they told this manager that >> cuz the parent was here. She's okay. >> Okay. >> Maybe check her hot outside. >> And she said she parked in the sheet. There is no sheet there. >> Then after management came, that's whenever you approached the vehicle. >> That's when I pushed the vehicle closer. >> And she said she was scared or she looked scared. She looked scared. She went from the driver's seat to the back seat and like kind of stood in sat in the corner >> to like get I guess not away from us, but to get in a more secure position where she felt like her back wasn't exposed. >> From there, that's when the manager in the black that's when she started approaching her. She went to the driver side window cuz it was rolled down like just a little bit. And so that's when she started talking to her while I just watched to see if the parent came by. >> I was only out there for a few minutes and I was already >> sweating. Me too. >> That's what I told him. I was like it was really hot. >> Imagine how hot when the car wasn't even running. Like I I mean it was windows on both sides were barely cracked. And >> but how many inches do you think it was? >> No less than two and a half in like >> And then when she got there, she didn't even open the door to get her the girl out to pull down. She literally just opened the back >> throwing her stuff into the back >> just like shocked >> and she was I was only gone for 15 minutes. Well, she went from 20 then to 15 and then to 10 when she was talking to the ambulance, the guys in the ambulance. Due to the seriousness of the situation, child services were notified to document the case and the grandmother was required to face legal responsibility. You're uh is that your current address? >> Yes. >> Standing out here on the raceway. You know what I mean? How come you didn't take her home with you? >> She didn't want to go cuz she didn't have any shoes on. And I was going to just put her in the stroller and make her go, but I knew I was only going to be in there for 15 minutes. I mean, I totally can relate. I mean, if I saw baby in the car, I would report the chat. >> Is the car running? >> No. I just have all the windows packed. I mean, I rolled them up now because I had the cooler off, but I had all the members cracked and she was in shape. But, I mean, either way, I know it gets hot. No, I mean, there's no excuse. I'm not trying to make excuses because I don't do it. But, I did it today and now I know why I don't do it. I don't want to have 10 cops in the parking lot. I don't want to go to jail. >> And even on top of that, all the vagrants here, all the vagrants in this area. Uh, >> yeah. >> I mean, I do lock her in. >> Yeah. But they'll break a window. >> Break a window. All of our sex offenders as well, >> right? >> What? You good? >> You're her caregiver? >> Yeah, I've had her. My daughter dropped her off when she was 6 months old cuz my daughter so she with me when she was 6 months old. >> Given that it's 88° out here, it's hot. All right. My my AC unit doesn't work right now. It's hot. All right. You know, if if we would have found her the way we did and you weren't there yet, we would have broken your window for sure. I don't think you want that. >> So, right now, I'm going we're going to call CFD. All right. I'm going to make a sky report and obviously tell them of the incident that occurred. So, they'll probably do a welfare check, stuff like that. Um, so you went into the store about 15 minutes. You left the vehicle wasn't running. Uh, the window was cracked. >> All four windows. >> All four windows were cracked. About how much? >> Well, just get all our information. You have to call in the sky report. >> Okay. >> Justin, did you explain to her that if we would have got here sooner, we probably would have broke our window to be able to get out? No. I mean, that was honestly as soon as you got here, you found her like that. That's what I was going to tell you to do. >> So, you good, bro? >> We're going to try to go enter in that evidence now. Whatever. Uh, blue pill. >> The grandmother was charged withment of a child. Under New Mexico law, she could face up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine. Vehicles can heat up rapidly, even with windows slightly open and the car in the shade. Conditions [music] inside can become unsafe for a child within just 5 to 10 minutes. A brief lapse in judgment can lead to serious consequences. Another case in Florida where a 3-year-old and his dog set off on a journey no one saw coming. >> It seemed like the dog was doing a good job at protecting a kid. >> Florida morning of February 16th, 2021. Flaggler County deputies responded immediately after receiving a report of a three-year-old boy wandering near a busy intersection in Palm Coast with no adult in sight, just his dog by his side. Meanwhile, the boy's mother was still at home, completely unaware that her child was missing. Officers quickly located the boy, but the story had more layers than anyone expected. >> Across the street that way, nobody know. >> You guys haven't seen him in the neighborhood before. You don't know where he might live. answering, offering up a name or any other >> Hey, buddy. What you got? >> You got sticks. What's your name? >> Animals taking care of. >> You need anything from us? I'm going to call. >> Yeah, if you just have your ID so I can grab your information if you don't mind and then you you're free to go after that. >> Yeah, this is his >> dog was wandering too. He got on the leash. They put the leash on. >> So, you found you saw him first or who saw him first? >> The guy left. >> But you drove by after the fashion. >> Yeah. He pulled up and he's like we're like, "Who's this?" We don't know who this door does. >> So then we thought maybe it was somebody over here so we knock on their door. >> Okay. What's a good phone number for you? >> 801. >> You're good to go. >> What did he say? >> To get the car off the corner would be nice. >> All right, you guys are good to go. I appreciate it. Thank you. >> Are they all yours? >> Oh, are are they twins or triplets or anything? Oh, goodness. >> Hey. Hey. >> You're a young mommy. Hey. Hey. >> Yes. So, you have a busy household. Oh, what's this? >> To say the least. >> Hello, boy. He got He got out through a gate. >> Okay. Where do you guys live? >> She lives down there. >> What What's the address? What's the address? >> I don't I think it's I could be wrong. Uh down around the corner. >> Do you have your ID, ma'am? >> Yes. >> She's down there. She's pregnant. She's freaking out. Is that >> I think it might. Yeah. Okay. >> That Yes, that's our dog. That's our dog. >> She just went out to check on him because he plays in the backyard. It's all fenced. Then apparently the dog has done a hole under the fence and that's how he got out. >> He was in the back. >> Yeah. >> Do you live there too or you just helping? >> I'm the grandmother. She just called me. That's why I rushed over here. >> Okay. >> No, you ain't going nowhere. You stay right here. >> There's the mother. [snorts] She calmly admitted to letting her child play in the yard unsupervised, then justified it by saying, "I let him play out there all the time. Nothing's ever happened. Seems like the dog was more aware than his mom fighting to protect the boy." >> Whose kid is it? >> He's mine. is your baby? Yes. Okay. >> All right. He's safe. >> Okay. >> All right. Um what? >> Um why? Okay. How long do you think it's been? >> I house. I let him go back all the time and play and I have the door open, you know, and you know our fences. We have a fence. >> What number do you live at? >> Um yeah. Okay. >> And I went over to check on him. He was over there playing with the dog and then I I didn't see him. So then I walked around and I see that the panel was missing. He knocked the panel out. >> What color is your house? >> Um it's blue. Light blue. >> Okay. Uh do you realize it's been probably at least 45 minutes by now? >> Are you serious? >> Yeah, it's been at least 45 minutes. >> I let him go out there all the time. >> You still got to keep your eye on them and check on them. What's going on? And that's being easy. It's probably really going closer to an hour. Do you not like check on them every so often? >> I do, but I'm just so used to letting you go out there and play. I've never had an issue. >> That's just a That's just a very long time for no supervision at all. 50 minutes to an hour in the backyard. There's god, there's snakes that get through the fences. I mean, obviously the fence isn't secure. The kid got through. I mean, I'm just glad he's okay. He's perfectly fine. The dog Thankfully, the dog's very protective and the dog doesn't want to leave the side. So, they were seen walking down the road together and it it seemed like the norm was doing a good job at protecting a kid. So, >> okay. >> All right. I I think your grandmother's down there, too. >> How long did you notice that he was missing? [music] >> We just let him lay out there. I've never like I said it's not >> Did you fall asleep or >> No, I was cleaning. >> I clean he's he gets in stuff a lot at the house. >> Okay. >> And um he I I had actually gotten donuts earlier and he had crumbled them up all over the floor. So I was starting to pick up and just clean some. And like I said, I let him go all back and I said never have an issue. He goes out there and plays all the time and it just didn't I don't know. I didn't think anything like this would ever happen. >> Oh, I know. >> I let him go back. We usually let him go back out back all the time, you know, play. >> And um I started cleaning and I went out there check on him. I'm not going to lie, it had been a little bit, but we let him go out there all the time and play, you know. I called his name. He I didn't hear him. He didn't say anything. So I walked back out there to look and I seen that the panel on the side of the gate had been knocked out and he had gotten out. So I started walking down the road to try and find him and then that's when I he was down the road so I stopped and talk to him but that's it. Like >> Okay. Who do you live here with? >> My fianceé and my other two kids like none of them are here. He's at work and my other kids are at school. >> Okay. About how long do you think he was outside for? Um, it didn't seem like that long when he said he was probably gone for like 45 minutes. So, I'm not sure. Yeah. If you had to give an approximate time, it's 1:54 now. What time did you let him go outside when you started cleaning or doing whatever you >> probably like around 1. Place don't go nowhere. But, >> can you show us uh the fence where it got knocked down? >> Ah, so it was all because of the fence. [music] It broke from being too old and definitely not the fault of a negligent parent. >> And you were at work this morning? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. We'll be >> [ __ ] Grandma just told me what happened. But um yeah, the fence is pretty tore up itself. Um I blocked holes and recheled back in there and everything. >> Do you mind if I just talk to you over here for a second? Step over here. Just do me a favor. Keep your hands out of your pocket for me. There you go. >> Sorry. >> Where do you work at? >> Uh I work for AIM law service. >> Okay. Is it like local here? >> Yeah, it's local. >> Okay. Just law enforcement. >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. >> Brands your pockets are good. I know it's a normal practice people want to do that. Is it normal protocol for him to go out back and play? >> Uh yeah, they play out back all the time. I mean, he's gotten out a couple times, but right here where we got him, you know, seen him go out or whatever and catch him. >> Every other time he's gotten out like where >> he's only gotten out right here. That's never happened before. >> He's gotten out from like the backyard or from inside the house? >> The backyard. That's why we got like a I don't know if you seen in our house, we got a lock thing on the front door front door cuz he just learned how to open the damn front door. My wife works at nights, so a lot of times she's in there, you know, just laying down and we make sure everything's locked up where he can't get out. Unfortunately, I don't know if you walked out back, like I said. Um, unfortunately, if you look out back, like I said, that fence is is tore up. >> The last time he got out from the back, which side of the fence was it on? >> I want to say this side, but this side I had to like put things in there and everything. You know what I mean? So, we uh we're actually talking about cuz they got a good fence and they got somewhat of a fence back here and that back one's okay. just seeing if we could, you know, with our tax money, >> fence something better in than what's there because they pushed this side over. I had to take up another piece of panel and basically put it together with, you know what I mean? >> Right. >> I don't know if you seen it, but I had that's what I had to do for the time being. We weren't paycheck paycheck. We ain't got money. You know what I mean? So, but yeah, scared the [ __ ] out of me when I pull up, what the hell is two cops doing? >> Yeah. So, essentially, we're here because he was found in the roadway. A few people, a good Samaritan staff, they stood out with him for a while. They called us. I stood out with him for a little while until we were able to figure out this is where he lives and all the information. He's three, so he he couldn't give me his name or anything like that, which is typical. I understand that, >> right? He can count to 20 and knows his ABCs. >> Yeah, he knows. >> Oh, yeah. He knows all his colors. >> Again, I was a stranger to him, too. So, he might not be open to talk. I understand that. So, now we just kind of have to figure out he's back inside. You know, he's in good health and everything like that. I just want to make sure that we're doing a thorough job. And obviously, we do have to do a DCF notification. Doesn't mean it's the end of the world. We do a lot of DCF notifications. >> Oh, something's not right. Their statements clearly contradict. On one hand, they insist [music] nothing has ever happened. On the other, they blames it on not having money and admits he got out before through the fence or the window. >> Again, I went back around back to see where he got out of and stuff like that. So, that's why I'm asking you >> several hole on this side and this side. That whole fence fell down and they could go through the damn fence. Those panels are so loose. You know what I mean? Tried to do what I could. I don't have the money right now. >> Yeah. Does he normally go out there at the other kids when they're home? >> Yeah. Cooper and Autumn usually here, you know, unless they're in school. And uh we got, you know, Gus, our dog, you know, and we I literally we leave the back doors, slider doors all open, everything open and it's been fine. So, >> does he ever go out there by himself when the other ones are at school? >> Yeah, but we're here. You know what I mean? Somebody's here and like I said, we don't Oh yeah, go outside and shut the door. That wouldn't happen. >> Understand? If he goes out back and you guys are like inside doing whatever, how often you guys go out there and check on him? >> All the time. Like I'm saying like say he's out there for an hour. How many times did you check on him within that hour if he was out there? >> Me I'm up I'm moving all the time. So I'm always checking on him 100 times. You know I'm like I always keep an eye on my kid again. She works >> right >> again. She works so I don't know. I'm at work. I was just cutting grass. What time did you leave for work today? >> 7:00 or so. Earlier this morning. Oh yeah. Early. So he's up in the morning though. He gets up. I usually make him something to eat. Hey, love you. Bye. Make sure the front door is locked. Pull it shut cuz uh it doesn't shut all the way real easy. So I can make sure I shut the sun some [ __ ] real good. Um, we got that thing because again he about 3 or 4 days ago learned how to >> open >> and use his weight and opened it up and I was, "Hey, where you going?" You know, >> I got you. >> But my 5-year-old wants to go out this damn window and we told him 100 times. So we have a neighbor that has a little dog walks around here and he's like, "Hey, I just wanted to let you know." And this was a week ago. He's like, "He keeps coming out the window." And the thing is he'll he'll open it, but then he wants to try to shut it from the outside. Doesn't shut all the way. Leaves crack. Well, then Tucker wants to try to go over there and try to lift it up. And I'm like, >> I got you. Yeah, sir. >> Naturally, the law doesn't turn a blind eye to this level of negligence. The mother was arrested and charged with child without great bodily harm and booked into the Flaggler County Jail. Bond was set at $500 per [music] Florida law. >> So, actually, we'll walk around this way. You just want to go to the end of driveway so we can talk for a second. I know he's a little upset. So, >> all right. So, Tessy, essentially, you are going to be placed under arrest today. Okay. >> Oh my god. For what? >> This is for child. All right. All right. So, do me a favor. >> Um, I've never even been to church. >> How far along are you? >> Like 13 weeks. >> 13 weeks. Okay. You've been cooperative with me so far. Do you want me to cuff you in the front? Are you okay with that? I do have to cut you. So, are you okay with the front? >> Okay. Yeah. >> Okay. Just put your hands together just like this. There you go. >> [snorts] >> Can I go call my mom? >> Say that again. >> Can I call my mom? >> We'll try and figure out something. Okay, we'll make sure that >> Do you have anything on you in your pocket? All right, I'm going to walk you to my patrol vehicle over here. Okay, >> I talked to him for >> I'll let him come talk to you in a second. Okay, >> we're going to go on to the passenger side. Here you go. All right. Space my patrol vehicle for me. All right. Spread your feet apart. You've got nothing on you at all. No keys, wallet, anything like that. Okay. >> Yeah. We'll be right up there with you in a second. >> I'll talk to you in a second. You probably don't want the kid out. >> I'll figure out a >> I'm not leaving. I'm going to be here for a while. I'll talk to you in a minute. All right, go and have a seat. Put your bottom in first and just watch your head. Okay, >> there you go. >> All right, I'll roll the window down for you in just a second. >> This incident not only exposes the mother's negligence, but also serves as a wake-up call about the careless, irresponsible lifestyle of some adults. Fixing a fence, checking for exit, or simply watching your child regularly doesn't require money. It requires awareness. Ashley O'Hara, the mother who turned getting drunk, driving with her two kids, and slamming into a wall into a memorable life experience. >> This is the time where she starts backing up. I start screaming, "Stop, cuz she's going to hit this wall." >> On March 22nd, 2024, police received a call about an intoxicated woman causing a scene at a motel, then crashing her car into a wall with her kids still in the back seat. They rushed to the scene where the main character, Ashley O'Hara, was rolling around whining and begging to take care of her children. >> Who's fighting? >> That young lady right there is going to >> Who's the one driving? >> Hi, officer. >> Hi. Come over here. What are you doing? >> I'm just trying to call my kid's dad. That's all, officer. >> Okay, sit down. Sit down. Sit down. Sit down. There's nowhere for me to sit down. >> You can sit right there in the bumper, >> officer. I'm just Who are you fighting with? Nobody. >> Well, >> I was fighting with this girl. >> Is that yours? >> No, that's Alexander Brewers. >> Oh, but you were driving that? >> No. >> Okay. >> No, officer. I wasn't. >> What's your name? >> My name is Ashley O'Hara. I just wanted >> Ashley O'Hara. Huh? >> What's up with you? >> Officer, please. >> Sit down. >> Please take my hand. >> Sit down. >> No. These are my hands. >> Then you're going in handcuffs. >> COME IN HANDCUFFS. STOP. >> Can I please take care of my children? Officer, can I please take care of my children? Officer, can I please take care of my children? >> Down on the bumper, >> officer. >> Okay, then get in the car. >> Officer, what? >> My children are over here. >> Okay, just chill out for a second. >> Officer, did you search her? >> No, I have not. >> She's being crazy. >> Please search me. I just want to take you to my children. All right, sit in the car. >> Officers, >> get in the car. >> Can I please take care of my children? Can I please take care of my children? >> Many witnesses described it like a scene from a B-grade horror movie. Ashley screamed and ran into someone's house, then went crazy like a mad woman, forcing neighbors [music] to risk their lives, rush to the car, and pull the keys out to save the two children. >> Hello. Hi. >> Did you see what happened? >> Oh, yeah. She pulled straight up into a worst thing in the end one now. And she pulled straight up to our room and was in her car yelling and carrying on telling somebody she needed help cuz she's drinking, driving with the kids in the car. And I went up to her car and I asked her if she was okay. She liked me to drive her vehicle somewhere for her kids and whatever. And she said no, her boyfriend was coming. Everything was great. We went into our place and Har was hanging out in his car and next thing I know she's at walking into my place asking if we got water, asking if we've got because it smells in there. So I told her, "No, we just have pest control here." And then she's like comes out and starts screaming at the dog. We told her, "Don't scream at the dog. We don't even know you. You can stay here as long as you need to cuz you're drunk, but don't cause any problems." >> She jumps in her vehicle. I come down here and talk to her now because now she's getting aggressive with me. I don't play. So let's come down here and talk to her. And as I was, she backed up and backed right up into that. You didn't even slow down. Nothing. >> So that's that's the brick wall that she hit. >> Yep. And I ran up there and I grabbed jumped through into the window, grabbed the keys and took off. And Alexis has the keys now because she attacked me and Alexis. >> Are you wanting to press charges for her attacking you? Was it physical? >> Well, it start I think she was trying to give me a hug at first and then I was kind of like no. Then it started getting physical but she stopped. >> Do you have your ID on you by >> She just wanted to make sure the kids was okay. >> So are those the kids that were in the car? >> Yeah. Kids that was in the car with her when she did that. >> What she hit that wall right there? Even the father of the children could no longer stay silent. >> I got no custody of my kids. She's supposed to have them for the weekends and she's >> How you doing? >> I'm doing great, bro. Other than I got to deal with these are you guys? >> These are my kids. Yeah. >> Who is she to? >> My baby mama. >> Baby mom. >> Ex mom. She don't got no custody of them. I let her see him on the weekends, but she's not acting like whatever the hell happened here. I'm guessing you're dead. >> I'm dead. Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, apparently she's quite intoxicated. >> That's why she got taken away the first time. >> I actually got in a pursuit with her about an hour ago. She was driving crazy. If it's okay with you, we'd like to just talk to the kids and see what they have to say. They're not in any trouble by any stretch in the imagination. >> I don't I don't want to talk anything. I'm going to take her to court. That's all I want. I don't want them to talk anything cuz they love her mom. >> Me and her, she knows exactly. She's screaming. She's aing nut. >> So, >> trust me, I'm Look her name up. This ain't the first time you guys have dealt with her. And I know that for sure. >> So, nonetheless, we still just need their names, dates of birth. Okay. >> Do you have an ID on you as well? >> The children acted more mature than their own mother. One of them was even calm enough to call their father for help. >> Hey, no yelling. What's going on? >> I just want to talk to him and apologize. >> Not right now. >> Can I please, officer? >> No, ma'am. >> Please. >> Okay. Close the door. >> Okay. Still alive. Are you guys hurt at all? >> You're not hurt? Okay. >> Were you in the car when she hit the wall? >> Okay. >> Did she back up into the wall? Is that what happened? >> Okay. You're dad, right? >> Yeah. Okay. I did not know any of this. >> Fair enough. >> She just got a rea >> for alcohol stuff. >> Yeah. >> And you called dad. >> Good job, buddy. Where were you guys sitting in the car? >> You guys were So, which one of you guys were sitting right behind mom? >> You were sitting behind mom and you were sitting behind like the passenger seat. >> I was sitting in the middle. >> In the middle. Was there anybody else in the car or just you three? >> Okay, perfect. >> I'm sorry. >> I'm so sorry. You deserve a mother better than this. >> Can you stop that? >> Neighbors continued to speak out. This time, even a dog was reportedly mistreated. Thankfully, they stepped in just in time to save the children from a hallucinating mother before things went beyond their physical [music] and mental limits. >> Who actually saw something? >> Us. >> Okay. >> I'm the one that jumped through the windows keys. >> Yeah. Actually, it was me, him, him standing outside. >> So, one at a time, would one of you guys just come on over and and talk with us real quick and just kind of tell us what you saw? >> She pulled up into the >> She pulled up here. >> Yep. And her >> she pulled up right here. >> Nope. This is where she pulled up over there and she's in her car and uh we were standing outside smoking a joint and eating um tacos. >> Okay. >> And uh she yells out her window that there's kids, she has kids in the car. Please don't. So, of course, we respected her cuz we don't want you know who she is. And then she said she gets on the phone with her boyfriend. She's yelling for him to come come because she's effed up cuz she's drunk with the kids in the car and nobody's taking her kids cuz cops are chasing her. I didn't see no cops. So, okay. All right. So, I walk closer to the truck and I ask her if she's okay. Does she need me to drive her anywhere? I will take her vehicle and drive it to where she needs to go with her kids and make sure we get there safe >> and what whatever. Then we went back inside and she was she was yelling at somebody come and get her right now cuz the cops are chasing her and on and on she went. Then she gets out of her car, walks into our unit with no no nothing, no nothing. Just walks right in and starts bossing me around telling me I can't be in my unit because my unit just been afraid and I need to get the hell out of my unit. She pushed me out the door. She shut the door and then Zeus started barking. So then Alexis and her friend got into Alexis told her she started yelling at the dog Zeus and Alexis told her don't be yelling at my dog like that. My dog is doing what it needs to do to make sure we're protected. Don't yell at my dog. Then the girl starts going closer to Alexis and gets right in front of her face car. Then I come out and I there and I tell her she needs to get back in her car and she needs to leave properly now because we're not playing. And then she begged for water for like 2 minutes straight to find the water. And I walked over here to the leader and told her asked her, "Should I need water?" She said, "Why? What's going on?" I said, "I don't know what this is. I don't know where she is." She just pulled up drunk. And then we see this time where she starts backing up. I start screaming stop cuz she's going to hit this wall. She doesn't stop. She's on the bridge. She just I ran over, jumped in, grabbed the keys, and got back on this side. And I told her and she come at me a couple different times and she was going to back out. He's not getting peace. And so then they went to my hands and she attacked me was actually grabbing on me to Alexis and then kind of just, you know, floated around so she couldn't tell her. >> Well, she'll be going to jealousy. So >> the kids are safe. >> Yep. All right, Alexis, what did you see today? >> She pulls up right in front of our apartment >> and she's like going off about how like the car is broken down. Gets out. She goes up to the door. She starts saying something. Our dog starts barking. She tells her to shut up. So I told her to shut up. Don't talk to our dogs like that. Comes up to me, starts trying to touch me and everything. Gets back into our car. She starts reversing, drives all the way back straight into the into the into the wall. >> It looked more like the officers were trying to comfort a child than restrain a criminal. And that overgrown baby was busy asking for tissues, wiping her nose, and crying like a child. Please stay tuned for the police version babysitting scene. >> I have hair in my mouth. Can you please scoop it out? Am I going to jail, officer? >> I don't know, ma'am. I'm just here to hang out right now. Okay. >> Do you have any tissues? >> What's that? >> Do you have tissues? >> Do I have tissues? >> It's not my car. Do you have tissues? He does not have any tissues. >> Can I ask you officers, why are you transporting my vehicle home? >> We're not transporting your vehicle home. We're towing your vehicle cuz it was involved in an incident. Another officer explain it all to you in a moment. Okay. >> Can you wipe my nose first? >> I don't have a rag, ma'am. >> I have a phone in my vehicle. Officer, >> I saw it. >> Would you mind grabbing it so I can call someone? >> Yeah, we can grab it. I'm so confused. I'm just trying to do better with my life. >> Okay, Ashley. Well, see the other bald officer right there? Well, Balding, that other gentleman right there. He is going to be the case officer. Okay. >> Can you please come talk to me? >> As soon as he's done doing some stuff he's got going right now, he'll come talk to you. Okay. >> I don't want to drive this vehicle home. >> We appreciate that. >> I just lost my children. Officer, I deserve that. I just want to walk home. Officers, if you want to take me if you want to take me to jail, that's okay. I just want to know. >> As soon as Officer Kaiser's done doing whatever he's doing, he's going to come talk to you and he's going to explain a part right here. I called my baby daddy and I asked him. I said, "Please come get the kids. I'm too drunk to drive them home." >> Okay. Hi. >> You're not bald. You're not the right guy. >> I explained Officer Kaiser was going to come and best explain to her everything that's going to happen here momentarily. >> But whatever. You're an officer. Hello. How are you doing? >> Hi. I'm doing really well. So, Officer Kaiser is going to have some questions for you. He's going to take you to his car >> and then we'll go from there. Okay. Hun. Red Puma sandal. Is that yours over there? Do you know where the other one's at? >> I don't. >> It might be in the vehicle. >> It should be. >> Hey, Adam. She would like her cell phone from the back seat. >> I just want to call my boyfriend and tell him to not come here because I pulled off here and I CALLED MY BABY DADDY AND I CALLED MY BOYFRIEND. >> Doesn't really matter. It's irrelevant. >> Okay. So, he's got your two sandals. Sorry, officer. >> No, you're good. Ashley, >> I'm taking her. >> Careful. Careful. You're taking her. >> We're going to get back in the vehicle. Ashley, >> are you taking me to jail? >> I don't know how many part of this. >> Are you taking me to jail? >> Hop in. We're going to take you to the station. Okay. So, Ashley, at this time, you are under arrest for DUI. Okay. >> But why? I haven't been trained. Officer, >> I'm not going to ask you anything about it. I'm just explaining to you that you are under arrest for DUI at this time. >> Okay. Have you been searched? >> No. >> Garrett, did you search her? >> Would you like to? We have to step out of the vehicle for me. >> Officer, >> I work at the hospital. >> We did pat down. >> Okay. >> Would you like another one? I work at the hospital. I just got a promotion. >> What do you do at the hospital? >> I'm a unit coordinator. >> That's pretty awesome. >> It is pretty awesome. I just got the job. Alan, >> can you stop for a second? I'm going to use the back of my hand. Okay. I'm just looking for Alex because he's supposed to be here to grab my car. Can I ask you a question? >> What? >> Would it be okay for you to drive me home? >> No, I can't do that. >> Get in the car. >> Where are you? >> Ashley keeps writing, [music] directing, and starring in the reality show of her life. One moment she's working at a hospital, the next she's suddenly a Kingwood [music] Police Explorer. Too bad she's consistently irresponsible in every role she plays. >> All right, Ashley, you going to get out and walk for me? >> Okay, officer. Where would you like me to walk? >> We're going to go up that set of steps right there. Hold on a second. Don't try to pull away from me again. Don't do anything crazy. >> I haven't tried to pull away from you one time, so don't talk about again. >> Okay, >> that's my hand. Right now, you can just relax. Okay. >> What do you guys want from me? >> Okay, I'm trying to explain that. >> Can I sit here? >> Yeah, you can have a seat. Go ahead and have a seat. My name is Officer Kaiser. here with the Kim Police Department. Okay. >> Hi, Officer Kaiser. How are you doing today? >> I'm here. I'm here. A couple questions for you. I want you to completely understand that you can deny it. Okay. But I'd like to run through some field sobriety tests with you. >> Absolutely, sir. >> You're willing to do some field sobriety tests? >> I am absolutely willing to do those with you. Officer, can I ask you why did you bring me to the King Police Station? >> So that we can get away from all the commotion and all the race. A little bit more privacy. >> Do it there and then take me to the jail. Because this is a private matter and I don't need a bunch of people staring at you. >> Okay. Well, your children are with their father. >> My children with their father there and I deserve that. Do you guys have any water? >> You know, Miranda hasn't been read yet. >> We do. We've got some things that we have to run through. Okay. >> May I have some water? >> We're going to take about 15 minutes or so. Okay. And then after the after the 15 minutes and then we're going to run through some some tests. When all that stuff is done, then absolutely. I have no issues getting any water. >> What happens when I pass all those tests? >> We'll see what happens when that happened. >> Did you guys know that I used to be or keep the police explorer because I did not know that? >> Yes, that was me. Did anyone get my phone out of the car? >> Yes, ma'am. I have >> Thank you, officer. Can you please call my boyfriend and let him know I'm no longer in the Leo Motel? Thank you, officer. I'm also sorry for wasting your time. >> You didn't waste my time. >> I did waste your time. I did because there are real criminals out there. Maybe I am a real criminal, but that you should be out there following after. You were out there following after me. So, I apologize for wasting your time." >> She kept screaming frantically, turning the sobriety test into a mental battle where it was the officers who ended up being tested. [music] And then she completely failed the very test meant for sober people. >> You said that you're okay considing to these tests and doing some tests for us. Okay, perfect. I I just want to make sure that you you do fully understand. I know that officer Kaiser just went over it with you. You don't have to do these, okay? You were just in handcuffs. You were in the back of the police car. We're in the back of the police car. >> I was in the back of a police car and my children were taking from me and their dad took them because I was parked at a motel. Where man, >> you need to stop hollering. >> I'm sorry guys. >> Follow my finger. Move your eyes. Your eyes only. Don't move your head at all. Okay. >> Watch. Look at my finger. Open them eyes. >> This is just really hard for me. >> Okay, relax for just a minute. And I need to be able to see your eyes. And if you're all squinted like that, I got tears. >> Sorry. >> Okay, that's all right. We're taking our time. Not a big deal. >> Next test, what we're going to do is called walk and turn test. Okay, hold on. Hold on. >> So, >> does this count as two or as one? >> We're going to start over again. Okay. >> Okay. One, two, nine. >> Would you like me to take some more? >> So, I want you to turn like I demonstrated for. Okay, back back in line. Nine more steps. >> One, nine. >> Okay, go ahead and turn around. We're going to do what we call a one leg stand. Okay, arms straight down to side, feet together. Whatever leg you decide to turn or lift. Why I tell you to begin? >> WHERE WERE YOU GUYS AT with the mom or the guy who my mom and my sister were at? >> I don't know, man. >> Where were you guys at? >> I don't know, ma'am. Ashley, do you want to continue with these tests? >> Yes. cuz I want to go home and go home and I go to work in the building. >> I just want to go home. >> All righty. I'll give you a little minute to compose yourself, but I need you to watch me when I demonstrate this. Okay, Ashley, >> I'm trying. >> I understand. >> No, you don't understand. Was your mom by the man who raped you? You didn't understand. Nobody does. I just want to go home. What do you want me to do? >> Okay, when I tell you, I want you to lift whatever foot point that foot down. Tell Nope. when I when I tell you to begin. All right, Ashley, we're going to we're going to come over here and have a seat back on the curb. No, >> that's for your safety. That's for your safety. Okay. >> I just want to do it and I either want to go to jail or I want to go. Ashley, we'll get there. For your safety, I don't want to I don't feel comfortable continuing this test. Okay. I don't want you to fall. You already said you feel uncomfortable. >> Oh, I fall. >> No, that's that's not how that works. Ashley, let's go inside and we'll do we'll do the last test and then we'll figure out >> I deserve to go to jail, right? >> That's not necessarily the case. >> That is the case. >> All right. Here, go ahead and throw your your sandals back on. We got one more test to do and then and then we'll be done with all the tests. >> And then the curtain [music] of truth slowly lifted. She turned to alcohol after learning she might lose custody of her child. Sadly, alcohol has never kept a child safe and the law doesn't drink with her. >> Hey, Ashley. While he's filling that out, okay. Um, I just got a couple of questions that I want to ask you. >> Absolutely. Officer. >> Okay. Before I can ask you any questions, okay, I'm sure that you've watched TV and stuff like that before. We have to tell you what we have to tell you what your rights are, though. Okay. before I can ask you any types of questions. Okay, with that being said, you have the right to remain silent. Ashley, do you understand all that? Okay, perfect. Ashley, you were mentioning something about your uh your mom out there. What happened with that? >> Okay, that's fair. Let me know if you need the trash can again. How come you were so hysterical when we when we all got there? >> Because officer, I don't have a license. I knew that. I was driving a car that I had both registered and licensed to myself when it broke down. When it broke down, I had known I had been drinking with my friend at 300 p.m. this afternoon and my kids were getting the back. The officer, I ran over a police officer. Did I mean to do that? Absolutely not. But I did. I did. But this is what I was under the influence of and I was just trying to get my kids home. A couple days ago, my kids had told me that their dad was going to take me to court to get custody of them full text. >> So, you started drinking at 3:00 this afternoon? Today? >> Yes, officer. I did. I took I had one shot one shot of 99 grapes at 3:00 this afternoon. And at about 5:00 this afternoon, after I had eaten drinking some water, I decided to drive them home. My car started to act funky, so I pulled in the motel and it broke down. And then you guys all showed up. There were like four or five of you guys. And then the kids were crying in the back seat. Don't let them take us. Mom, don't let them take us. Of course, I was going to get their co officer. >> Where were you? Where were you drinking at this afternoon? >> My best friend's house at 5:50. >> When the officer tried to stop you just before you got to the Leo, where were you coming from? >> When the officer tried to stop me, no officers tried to stop me. I stopped at the Leo. I pulled over cuz my car was breaking down. >> So the officer that tried to stop you over there by fairgrounds was at was at the Leo. At least saw you and he was like, "Yeah, that was she's the one that I was trying to stop." >> I never saw anyone behind me before I got to the Leo. >> So you didn't hear lights and sirens behind you? >> No, officer. I would have pulled over. Okay. So if you guys don't arrest me, do I have to drive or walk home or are you going to drive home? >> We'll cross that bridge when we get to it. Okay. >> Oh, Ashley has a long criminal record. hit [music] a cop, dealt drugs, and is on probation. With a stack of prior and this serious repeat offense, even if she acts remorseful, police can't let her go home with my baby. And that want to be a police dream. As the officer said, not on the right track. >> After completing the test of your blood, breath, urine, or other bodily substance, you will be given a reasonable opportunity to arrange for any physician, registered nurse, or other qualified person of your own choosing to obtain an independent test or tests in addition to any administered by law enforcement officer. This says, "I understand that I have the right to a reasonable opportunity to arrange for an independent test of my blood, breath, urine, or other body substances." You understand? >> I ask you a serious question. >> Do you ever see a person who is really turned around their life and do these sort of tests on them think they don't deserve this? >> Yeah. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. Oh, >> more. >> That'll work. >> I just want to go home, but I want to have my baby. And you want to have one? >> I already lost my kid and I' already lost everything. It lowkey doesn't matter. I'm on right now, but it's like I should just run at this point. >> Who's your probationary officer? >> Ryan Woodard. Hungry, humble, smart. All of the above, which y'all are. >> Thank you. >> You're welcome. Sorry you have to take me to jail. >> Me, too. >> Can we loosen these just a little bit? Cuz my ankle or my wrist are actually red. I'm not just being a dumb. I am being a ditch, but not in this instant. >> What are you on probation for? >> I am on probation for running over a police officer on accident. >> I would not be probation. >> But in my defense, I was selling kilos of at the time and I didn't mean to do it. But it also doesn't matter because that police officer didn't deserve that and he was just doing his job. Gothalize me now. Am I still 0.1? >> I don't know. >> Because I want to be one of you guys. >> Go ahead. >> Do you want to be one of us? >> Yeah. >> You want to be a police officer? >> Yes. Go ahead. >> Not on the right track, sis. >> Obviously, doesn't matter cuz I'm going to slip my wrist open after I get out of jail. And I can't wait to do it. I'mma lay down right next to my sister's gravestone like this >> bleeding out. And I look forward to that. >> Because of those childish actions, the kids are at risk of becoming victims of an immature mother with a twisted sense of right and wrong. They may lose their sense of safety, grow fearful of adults or cars, psychological scars that could last a lifetime. What's your name? >> Officer Kaiser. >> Or officer. >> I'm officer. >> Okay. I don't want to disrespect you. Am I >> appreciate that? You are going to jail. >> Why? >> For driving under influence, endangerment, and as well as child. >> Am I going to prison? >> I have not a clue. That is not to my >> Do you think I am? >> I have no clue. Are you ready, sir? >> Yep. >> Can I make one call before you go? >> When you get down there. >> And is there any other option besides jail? >> No, >> I'm not asking you. I'm asking officer. >> No, there's not. They're weird. You got the same answer. Let's go. Okay. Well, do you want to walk me? >> No, I don't. You can walk. Capable of walking. >> Why do I want to walk you, Joe? This way. >> Can I walk this way now? >> Stop. >> Can I please >> have a seat? >> Do I have to? >> You do. I have a seat. Is >> there any other way? >> There's no other way. >> Please. >> Nope. Have a seat. >> Please, officer. >> Have a seat. Have a seat. Set up. >> Please. Just this one time. Please. >> There we go. Legs in. Nope. Up on the seat. Legs in. Courtney, you there's been several times. >> Please, just at home. Can you just let me get to work in the morning? Let me rebuild my life. >> I hope you do rebuild your life. >> I can't rebuild my life. I keep doing it. >> I agree with that statement. >> Can I please repetitive? >> I beg it in there and I bang it IN THERE AND I BE IT IN THERE till I leaping blood. >> That's not acting like an adult. You want those numbers? You better quit. >> I just want to go home. Please. Please. Please. I'll do anything. Please think no. Please, officer. Please. I can snitch on everybody you've got numbers to. Do you want those numbers? Do you want me to bring you by the houses? No. >> Ashley, I want you to stop acting like a child. >> I want to stop acting like a child, too. And that's why I'm trying to bring you by the door. >> I want you to be able to get the numbers out of your phone. But if you walk into the jail acting like that, they are not going to do that. >> Numbers out of my phone. >> I don't want the numbers out of your phone. Please just let me go home. I have to work in the morning. I used to sell I used to do I haven't done in 3 years. >> Didn't you just get out of rehab for alcohol? >> I did get out of rehab for alcohol and I took two shots with my friend at 3:00 and then I went home at 4:00 and y'all pulled me over. Please officers. I don't want to go back down here. I don't want to lose my job. I don't want to lose everything. Every time I get arrested, I have to tell them about why. Please, officer. Just this one time I promise I'll never drink again. And if I do, so I prison. >> Even in handcuffs, she kept shouting, "You don't give me what I wanted." That attitude slowly wore down the officer's patience. >> "YOU NEED TO STOP. >> PLEASE, I want to go. >> Give me a rest. Please, please, please. Please take me home. Please take me off. >> Get your hands off of your face. >> Please. Please take me home. Please >> step out. >> Let me step out rather than dragging me. >> Well, you're acting like a child. >> And this is why your cheats on you with fat black men. >> I'm God. I cheat on you, too. You win. >> Hey, >> I have to stop. >> Hey, we're going to KEEP THEM SEPARATE. >> YEAH, KEEP US SEPARATE. >> I said stop. >> No, I >> You need to listen. >> No, I don't need to listen. >> You do. You are acting like a child. All the stuff you're asking for, you're not going to get any of it if you keep acting like this. >> This is mine. Can we search this? Do we search this? I want it. >> Yes, this is mine. All of this is mine. Thank you. Are my car keys on there? Can you please make sure? Look, >> they're right there. >> Okay. Thank you. Walk. Which one of you guys is going to walk? Because one of you before >> Wait a minute. Do you want to like keep separated all the way? >> No, I know him. That's my homie. >> Good. >> Your homie likes to choke out all the time. >> No. >> Well, that's a surprise. Is my phone in there? Can you please make sure for me is in there with all your stuff? >> My phone is in there. >> This is what we're going to do. >> Can you please make sure my phone is in there? >> I Yes, we will absolutely do that. >> Over here. >> I'm just coughing her. I have co >> Don't WE ALL? >> NO, I ACTUALLY DO. COING, [screaming] Y'ALL. I got co like immediately. >> Yeah, just throw me in, girl. Hey, what's up, Romy? >> I'm trying to roll around. Roll around. Yep. Roll around. YOU GUYS ARE NOT LOCKING ME UP WITH OTHER MOTHER. That's crazy. I'm lucky here. >> Face the wall. >> No, I'm face. I'm facing the wall. >> And she was searched by a male, too, just so you know. >> Oh, yeah. She was searched by a male. I can help you out. >> Take the wall. >> I can help you out. >> Stop moving. Stop. Stop. >> I can help you out. >> No, I didn't tell you to do anything. >> I didn't ask you. >> Yeah, well, I got TO STOP. >> HOW YOU DOING? I'M NAKED. >> You [laughter] can't see. >> I still got a problem.
