Please don't trap me in the box. >> As I went down like this is when it hit me right here. >> When children only want safety, but adults need to be heard. The situation becomes more than a disagreement and can quickly spiral [music] into a serious conflict. >> You didn't put a butter. >> What the you mean? I grabbed the one guy from the back to that brittle cuz they're all jumping on him. >> Today we follow a true story of real people and real emotions with consequences that cannot be ignored because a surfboard crossed into their space. On March 14th, 2022, Flaggler officers were alerted about a teenage boy experiencing difficulty with a group of three men. The situation began when [music] he was surfing near their fishing area. One man reacted strongly. The other two joined in and the encounter drew attention to the noticeable [music] difference in age and physical presence between both sides. >> I came up here and he ran up to me, the first dude, and was like, "You touch me, I'm going to stick you." And I was like, "Dude, just back away from me." And then this dude with this blue shirt ran up to me and was like, "What's up?" And went to go >> let me just show you. >> As soon as I saw him with the blue shirt, he ran at me. He went to go on me and show me in case anything happened and we all ran over when this happened. So watch this blue guy coming off the pier. No, no, no. You I'll show you. >> They all just he ran right at me like straight up. He was like running. Both of them came in. Both of them. I saw him going in like this and I just went like that and backed up and then they all just jumped on top of me and started me and uh I think it was like what two or three of them Sir, would you like to see the video? >> So, >> straight off the straight straight. >> Where's the guy with the tank top at? >> Don't go anywhere. Okay. >> Hey, just just >> don't don't go anywhere. >> So, the guy in the tank tops knocked the out of this kid. You see that? >> Yeah. >> What is going on today, man? >> Hey, will you do me a favor? Will you ask that kid if he wants to press charges? >> Get in the wet suit. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> I don't know. >> If he's a Yeah, if he's a juby, we're going to have to get the parents. >> Actually, let me Hey, will you go just stand by? >> I don't know which one it is. >> He had on a black tank top cuz if if he's a juvie and my mom wants to press charges, I'm going to hook him. >> Let's just take him out there and help him out. We got to get his information. Oh, man. This is getting people. We need some help, man. He's seriously Isan back. >> Well, he Yeah, but he's not on the road yet. This will be our fourth arrest for today, me and Junior. >> I know. I know, dude. I know. I I mean, it's insane. >> I'm rolling. >> Me, too. Okay. >> However, when officers arrived, the explanations differed. One man said [music] he stepped in to keep things from getting worse, while another described himself as the one affected. >> Hey, man. Hey, >> what happened? What's that? What happened with the kid? >> Oh, one of my buddies got in a fight up there with the kid up there. >> Okay. You a witness? Were you with him? >> I witnessed it. Yeah. >> You need to double hang out with us for a bit. >> Why did you chase after the kid? >> What's that? >> Why did you chase the kid? >> Cuz he wasing with my buddy just to kind of get him away from him. That kid hit me though, dude. Seriously, I didn't hit that kid. >> I know, but I really didn't. >> But we just we we watched video footage and you were chasing after him pretty damn aggressive. >> I didn't touch him though, man. That kid hit me. >> I know. I know. But your buddy knocked the out. >> Where's your buddy at? Is that your buddy in the black tank top? >> Yeah, >> that's one, man. >> Where's the other one at? >> The other one already left. >> You know, he's not looking away. >> Is he a juvenile? >> No. >> Um I don't know. He's calling his parents. >> What? He's 16, right? I think so. >> So, is that your buddy there? >> I don't know who hit him. I really don't. I swear to God, I never dude. >> All right. >> I'm not going nowhere. You know, this is what happened right here. Honestly, we had our lines out right here about 20, 30 ft. He almost went right into the lines. Some name calling went on. One of my buddies took off that way. He came swimming into shore. I seen there was an altercation. So, I ran that. That's why I ran that way was to break the stuff up. You know, that's what I see. >> Yeah. Right there. What's going on? >> Nothing but I just got here and then they were fighting my buddy over there and I had to grab a couple kids to stop him from fighting. All them young kids are jumping on them cuz I guess they were down here surfing and they were grabbing their lines out of the out of there. This the first time I come out here. >> Where's the other buddy at? >> He went up there. I don't even see him now. He walked up there a minute ago. >> Yeah, they were black. Did he have a black tank top as well? >> Does he have a black one? >> Tank top as well. Was he wearing a black shirt? Black tank? I think so. We get a like a fishing shirt. >> Yeah, they are. >> You going to hit the kid? >> No, I had to grab one off of them >> cuz there's video. We got video of of >> I grabbed the one guy from the back to get them cuz they're all jumping on them. >> You know they're all kids. They're all minors, right? >> Yeah, that's what they were saying. They're 17 or something. >> No, like 16, 15. >> But when they jumping on them, I just grabbed them and stopped. >> Why'd you guys go over there? >> I come in and said that they're they're fighting right there and I just come in to pay and they're right there and I've seen them all right around my buddy. >> Call your buddy. Tell them to come here. What? >> Hey, they are looking for you up here. Guy looking for He's on the phone with him. >> Okay. >> Thank you though. I appreciate it. >> You take off. >> Tell them to go back here. >> Well, they're asking me right here. They said they want to know where you went. I said you walked up there. Here he is. Talk to him. >> Hey Rusty, it's Deputy Chambers. Where you at? Where you at? It's Deputy Chambers. Where you at? Where's your truck? You at the pier? >> You got your ID on you, bud? >> You need to be at the pier. You need to come back in and talk to us. >> Okay, that's fine. We'll clear that up when you get here, though. >> Well, listen. I'm I'm not going to take this over the phone. I need you here is where I need you for. >> No one said anything about getting arrested, but if you don't if you don't come here, you will get arrested. >> Listen, none of that matters right now until you get here. You have to get here. You do not get here, you'll be in worse trouble than you are. And right now, you're not in any trouble. >> Where's your truck at? >> The kids put hands on it. My first I didn't see it. I just seen it. Another one come over there. So, I I tried to break it up and another one come over there. Crazy. And I grab >> Are you in your truck now? >> I'll put you to sleep. I'm 58 years old, man. >> Well, hey, we're going to head in front of there. You >> Where did Where did >> you You parked right by my patrol car. It's the Mustang. All right. >> Where did it all happen? >> I don't know. They were fishing and I guess the guys were down here and they they were messing with their lines. See how they're way over here? I don't know the rules out here, but they were messing with their fishing lines. They're fish. They fish straight down. >> Okay. So, where were you putting the grabbing the kids? Where were you? >> All up here. >> Oh, I on the boardwalk. >> Yeah. Not on the boardwalk. No, way up there. >> Where you pay to get in here? >> No, right around the corner. Like there's those pavilion is right there. >> Yeah. Okay. He's still got your ID though, babe. Just so you know. >> Yeah. So, can you walk me through what happened? >> I seen the guys monkeying with my buddy and there were all the young kids around him. I don't know how old they were. >> And so, uh, I tried to stop the fight and there's another guy, black guy was trying. And then another kid run over there. Then I end up grabbing that guy cuz he run and jumped on the pile. Oh, what the when I got him, I got him from behind to stop him. Hey, you better not flipped him around cuz I'll make you I'll him out, you know, just to get him to stop. So, I just let him go and he stopped and then it was over. What what's your date of birth? Cuz there was a kid up there that actually recorded it and he in the video there was the guy redheaded guy. He doesn't have a shirt on now, but there was another guy that had on Does your buddy have on a tank top too? >> I can't remember. I thought he had like he always wears little fishing shirts on >> because somebody had a tank top on and it and it looked like in the video footage that the tank top guy knocked the [ __ ] out of this kid. Is that you? Did you ever the kid? I I just grabbed that L. My thing over there. >> So, what all started it was because you guys were fishing and they came up here close. >> Yeah, I guess I just got here, man. They were fishing and they said they were out the guys are in the, you know, the lines are down here. They're underneath grabbing their lines up and messing with the pole. That's what I guess is hard. >> All right. This time you're going to be out here. >> Yeah. >> Okay. I just got to go talk to other people and I'll be back. In the end, [music] recorded footage became the key reference point when compared with the statements. The matter may result in formal proceedings initiated by the teen with parental participation due to his age. >> Who had the footage? You do. Let me see it again. >> Hey, what's your name, boss? >> Michael. >> Michael, are you over? >> You watch at the end. So, the guy in blue comes running off the beer, which is the guy with the beard, and then you'll see the uh the other guy in the back of the head. So this guy comes running off the pier, >> runs him over to the the other dude. See, look the big See the tank top that >> I don't know where that guy went. >> He's out on the pier. >> Oh, is he? You punched him in the back of the head. >> Yeah, he snuck up behind me in the back. >> Hey, it's the dude out there. >> Yeah, they both >> Yeah, they both That's the only reason why I hit him cuz I saw him at me. So like, you know, I'm not [ __ ] >> him running off the pier. >> Can you see that? Email me. All right. As long as you're not hanging out here, though. Bye. >> You're 17, buddy. >> Yeah. >> Can you call your parents? >> Yeah. Uh, >> you guys involved as witnesses? Let me let me email him real quick and then, >> hey, man. It's Sergeant Yington with Flagger Beach Police. How are you? >> Okay. How you doing? >> I'm doing okay. I'm sorry to bother you, man, but we had an incident up here at the pier. Um, >> okay. >> You you tell him the story and then I'll talk. >> Hey, Dad. Um, so I had uh three fishermen up on from the jump. I got so this dude with this red beard, a biker city or some other dude, they ran down the beard saying they were going to jump me and then one dude with a red beard I as he went to go me I hit him and I buckled him and then the other two guys me and they started jumping me or whatever. Um but my friend Ryan got a video of them so we're showing it to them right now. They have it. They just wanted to call you sometime. >> Yeah, you're damn right. What the is that? How old are these? >> Like in their early 50s. >> 50s. >> Are you kidding me, dude? >> Yeah, like 40. Like in like late 40s, early 50s. >> This is like a always a constant thing with these people, man. >> Yeah. It's an everyday battle. But >> them kids be always wrapped up with something with the guys throwing weights out, >> right? Make the decision. Um, as far as pressing charges, he's not in trouble. >> Oh, all right. I just wanted to make sure. Yeah. You know, if they're putting his hands on the kid, then that that's just irregular. That shouldn't even be happening. That's just a conversation that could have been held. So, if he feels that is there any marks or anything on the kid's face, man. >> Yeah. I got it swollen behind there also. >> Yeah. Behind his ear is swollen, >> man. Forget all that, dude. Listen, it's about time that those guys learn to listen about >> Yeah. No, cuz I knew better from last time. I knew better from last time. I didn't go near the pier at all. I stayed over here on the boardwalk and the first dude was just kind of like arguing with me and I was arguing back and then the dude with the blue shirt with red beard just ran at me out of nowhere. Went to go like he was like doing a run in and I wasn't just going to let me get hit. >> No, I understand that and I told you I told you to protect yourself. I I understand that. It's just this isn't Listen, Mike. I I'm going to use the program. [ __ ] that. I'm so tired of these guys acting like they you guys for weights and do everything. I understand that you guys come close to the beer and come on out. But this is this is your friend got busted in the head with the other back like that. >> Yeah, I know. I am. That's what I want to do. But they have to at some point guys are >> I got to get my phone look that way. Let me see here. Hey, >> I got to get Come over here. Let me get some uh Hey, bud. Hey, hey, hey. Hey, boss. You You got to stay here for us, okay? We're not done with you yet. >> No, right. Put my fishing gear in the truck. >> Okay. Where's the truck at? >> Let me get my phone so I can get some pictures of you. >> This was not the first similar call handled that day. And the teen was not only involved in a dispute, but was also approached in a way that made him uncomfortable. >> Why don't you sign 111 take this? No, I'm >> I'm just going to I'm going to trespass them all and just do a charge. Okay. Cuz he Yeah. Yeah. I ain't going to make it to There's no people. Who's going to watch the city? >> Oh, I mean, it'll be the second time today that we've had to do it. There was so many people here. I give you a hug. >> All right. Yeah, I need >> the third guy. I just got to get his information for the trespass. >> Which guy? >> The dude right there with no. >> Was he involved in it? >> He's going to get >> Hey guys, how you doing? >> Oh, working my life away. You know, having fun. He's going to get crashed. Let me uh let me do these and then we'll get them out of here. >> Yeah, you can. >> So, what I'm going what I'm going to do is is I don't I don't have any help, >> right? >> I'm by myself. >> Yeah. >> Besides these guys, and I can't pawn this off on him. So, what I'm going to do is I'm going to trespass all three of them from here. They can never come back. And I'm going to do charges on them for battery against you. >> Okay. I'm not Yeah, cuz I want to make sure I shall as long as me being 17 and two grass men. >> Yes, I agree 100%. So, I'm going to do charges on them. It'll go to the state. The state will take care of it. I'm just not going to make a physical arrest because I don't have the manpower to do it right now. >> I mean, what about the dude who snuck up behind me and stuff like you know that was just like no joke. That's like a I mean I would really prefer him to go today. >> Well, he's going to go but just not today. He's going to go eventually. All right. Um, do you have a copy of all their names? My dad wants a copy of all. >> I'll have to get it for him. If he calls me tomorrow or comes to the PD tomorrow, I can give it one near the DMV or >> No, no, the PD right here. Um, >> right here. >> Yeah. >> Because of limited [music] staffing, no immediate detainment occurred at the scene, but all three men were instructed to stay away from the area to avoid further problems. >> All right, gentlemen. Uh, what is his name? >> Tony. Tony, come over here. Tony, come here. >> So, this is what's going to happen. Nobody's going to go to jail today, but all three of you are being trespassed from this pier and boardwalk. You can never come back. You come back, you're going to go to jail. >> Okay, everybody understand? >> It's you guys decision, not them, right? >> This This is my decision. >> I I appreciate that. That's fine. I should have never yelled at him. >> Okay. Touch them. >> What this here is is this is on paper what I just told you. >> You don't have to sign it if you don't want to. If you want to, I'm going to let all three of you sign it. >> If I sign it, let me ask you a question. Is there anything coming back to us? >> No. Okay. >> This is just you acknowledging what I just said. >> Why is there nothing on here? This for your >> I haven't filled it out yet. >> Can I take a picture of it? >> Sure. >> Okay. Hold on. Let me put her up here. >> No, no. I'm just, you know, I don't I'm I've been >> like a lawyer, though. This guy's like a lawyer. >> Well, dude, I've been >> So, we're going to cross all this out just so you can see. This has got nothing to do with it. So when we get done, I'm just going to fill this stuff out. Trespass warning. >> My my shift. Oh, it's trespass warning. My shift about it. That sucks. My wife's going to be pissed. They go out here all the day. >> Nobody wants to sign. >> I will. I mean, that's fine with me. I don't care. I mean, you you think I'm a good guy for it. That's fine. You guys have been exceptional compared to other ones. Tony, you want to sign? >> You guys sign. I am. >> What happens if I don't sign? Just don't get caught here cuz you get caught, they will get you. I It's my first time. All right. >> You know what I'm saying? >> All right. >> It's my first time here, man. >> So, like I said, if you guys you guys can't come back, >> dude. I wasn't trying to watch some because listen to this. I don't have a choice for that. >> Usually, I got four at me, but I didn't walk on the pier. I said, "I don't need no motorcycle club, you know, they the damn I lost all the guys data. They Google our name for law enforcement. I'm not law enforce >> but these clubs are crazy. They always want to kill us. >> All right, so you guys, y'all pack up your stuff. Let's get out of here. >> We're all packed up. >> All right, let's go. >> The 17-year-old later explained that while he was trying to head out to sea, the ocean conditions changed, making the situation hard to manage. So, the only thing I didn't get to ask you was what started it. Were you guys too close to the pier? >> I was on the right. I was beyond the pole and I caught a wave and I went right. So, I mean obviously you came this way. I caught a wave beyond the pole. Came in and I fell cuz I was about to hit this little kid paddling out. So, I just I was like, "Whatever. I'll I'll be fine on the inside." I fell. The current dragged me towards the pier. I was paddling in towards the beach to get out and walk down and then they ran up. Uh the the first dude driving right there. He first ran up to me. >> Victor, Victor, Victor, whatever. Second dude who ran at me trying to attack me. He was the one who me and then the dude in the biker shirt, he snuck up behind me. >> He's the one that you that knocked you down. >> Yeah, I got >> you went into the rail. He Yeah, he I got knocked down because after the dude with the beard, he hit me and then I hit him and then that when I hit him, he he dropped a little bit and he grabbed onto my legs and at the same time they were falling down and the other dude was driving and grabbed me and as he was pulling me down is when the other dude I saw his fist coming like I saw it cuz I looked like this and I saw it coming like right here. As I went down like this is when me right here and then this is from the boardwalk though. That's his but yeah, no he right here. Make sure that you let your dad know that I'm doing charges. I can only do charges on the two of them because >> Absolutely. Yeah, I know the two. >> And then um >> Am I able to your phone or Jeremy phone just to call my mom so she knows about this? >> Two of the men involved were initially charged with felony child [music] abuse causing great bodily. A month later, those charges were reduced to [music] misdemeanor battery. The third man who left the scene was barred from returning to the [music] beach and pier where the incident occurred. The case serves as a reminder to both sides. Young people should stay aware of their surroundings and [music] adults should remain calm and act responsibly when interacting with youth. The mother was stopped because of concerns about her focus while driving. And this is how she explained the situation. >> Have you been drinking at night? >> No, I have not. >> Moments later, >> you had anything to drink tonight? >> I did. >> When? >> In this way, she revealed that she had consumed something that reduced her level of alertness. On January 26th, 2018, traffic officers conducted a stop after noticing signs of inattention and concern for the children in the vehicle. Upon contact, the driver acknowledged using something that affected her awareness, but chose not to participate in on-site evaluations, leading to verbal and emotional tension. >> Hello. >> Hello. I stopped you because uh you swerved over the white line twice. >> Really? >> Yep. Have you been drinking tonight? >> No, I have not. >> You had anything to drink tonight? >> I did. >> When? >> Um maybe about an hour and a half ago. >> How much did you have? >> Um I had two Budweiser and a shot. >> Okay. Okay. I would Okay. We're going to do look at it again. Okay. But you got to do it. Okay. >> Okay. Can you stand with your hand your feet together? Hands down by your side. >> My toes. >> That's okay. It's okay. >> Okay. Okay, hold on. Hold on. Oh, don't fall over on me. Okay, I'm not. Okay, so you're not you're not doing what I'm asking. Are you interested in doing some test? >> I'm looking at you. >> Are you interested in doing some tests for me? >> No, I'm looking at you cuz I've been through this so many [ __ ] times. So many [ __ ] times. I don't mind going to jail. >> Hey, what's your first name? Laura. >> Don't worry about it. Do your job. She didn't mean to drink. She said she >> On the way to the station, the mother showed anxiety and distress after [music] being separated from her children, repeatedly asking about their safety and displaying behavior that worried officers. >> Why don't you put yourself in that situation? People don't understand how serious this is. >> I understand. >> Doesn't sound like it, >> dude. My best. Well, I'm sorry, but you can't be doing that. I understand, but you cannot do that when you're drunk. Can't drive a car, no matter what the be what the reason is when you're drunk. It is a matter of conscience, ethics, and care for family and community. Can the statement of a father with a history of family tension be trusted? Let's follow this situation to find out. >> You are in violation of your probation rights. Okay. On April 29th, 2022, police received a call from a boy reporting a serious disagreement between two adults in his family. Officers checked a pickup truck that appeared related, but found it was not connected. Shortly after, the correct vehicle passed by in a similar model, leading officers to follow it for clarification. >> Copy. >> Hi there. >> Deputy Wallace with the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office. Jamie Dexter. >> Okay, we just had a pretty bad domestic in the city of Berlin and supposedly one of the males was fleeing in a black pickup truck out on >> city boy pulled up behind me off up towards the park as I was leaving for work. >> So the house is kind of similar to where the truck comes back to just off of Wisconsin. >> Okay. >> Um so just so you know, um I apologize. Um I just wanted to >> There it goes right there. Just stay here. Both hands out the No. >> Hi there, Deputy Wallace with the Green Lake County Sheriff's Office. How's it going? >> Good. The reason I'm stopping you is uh what just occurred at the residence. >> What happened at the residence? >> Okay. We got a call. A lot of yelling, screaming. Um somebody's saying a male was pushing the female around. >> I didn't touch nobody. >> Well, I'm just saying >> all I did was leave my house. I turned my vehicle off. >> Yep. Any weapons on you or in the truck? >> No. I can get out. >> Nope. Why don't you stay in the truck for me? I was going to say I got it on me. >> Okay. Um, do you have a >> wallet? >> Okay. And where are you headed? >> I'm headed to my job. >> You're headed to Ashkosh to your job to sleep. >> I don't want to go home. >> So, rephrase that for me. You're headed to Oshkosh to your job to sleep. You're going to sleep at your job? >> Yeah. Or a business. I can sleep there if I'd like to. I also have a hotel in Ashkosh as well. Okay. So, nothing happened at the house. >> I mean, as far as the argument, yeah, but I didn't touch nobody, but all I did was take my vehicle and go. >> Okay. So, who was the argument between? >> Um, everything will be in your phone call, man. Like I said, all all I'm trying to do is leave the situation, and here we are. >> Well, I understand that, but I want to know your side of the story, >> sir. We got into a verbal disagreement of what I believe and what she believes. She decided to I decided to say that I was done. She wants to uh get into an argument. Not arguing with you. I'm taking my vehicle. I'm leaving the situation. Uh >> and who's the female or who's the other individual? >> She called y'all. That's all I have to say, sir. >> Well, the phone call we got was from a toddler. So, I don't know who you're speaking or talking about. >> I'm just zipping up a paint. >> I don't know who you're talking about. >> I don't know, sir. If you guys got a phone call, you're a phone call. All I'm doing is driving. So I I just like to go [clears throat] go to Oshkosh, man. I just want >> Well, sir, you know, we got a phone call in open line. We never talked to anybody. >> Well, I don't I don't know what you want me to do. >> I just want to know the truth and what was going on. You said you got an argument. Okay. >> So, what were you guys arguing over? >> Personal family thing. >> Okay. And who were you arguing with? >> It does matter. >> I'm going to remain silent. >> Remain Why are you remaining silent? You're not >> You have the right to remain silent. You're not under arrest. >> So then may I go? >> No, you're not free to leave. >> Well, then can you tell me the reason that you're pulling me over then? >> Because there was we were told there was a physical altercation at the residence of 247 East Berlin Street, including you. >> Doesn't look like there's any physical at all, >> sir. Whether there's marks or anything, >> we get we get told stuff all the time, sir. And that's why I'm investigating it. Okay. There might have been a mistake. Maybe there people somebody said you hit somebody and you never did. Okay. That's right. That and I already told you that it was a verbal disagreement between me and someone. I decided to leave the situation. If you do not have a charge that you're charging me with, I would like to leave. >> Well, you're not free to leave. Okay. I'm telling you, I'm going to let you do your status. >> And that's all I can say to you. >> 102. So to me, that's one of your probation. That's a probation violation. >> No, that's not officer. >> They just read off your rules. >> We just disagree. So you're saying I could go to jail for disagreeing with you. Come on now. >> Dispatch said they could hear yelling and screaming. yell at me. I'm not yelling at you. I understand the frustration. We're trying to do an invest in investigation. I get that people can argue >> and yell and scream and yell and scream. Dispatch, my >> You've never yelled at someone. >> So, it just said your probation rules. What you are telling me and what dispatch is telling me, you are in violation of your probation rules. That does not mean that they are going to place a hold on you. >> I understand. What I'm saying is is that people argue. >> I I agree with that. When things get heated, there's two ways to go about things. Fight or flight, right? >> Correct. Or freeze. >> Or freeze. What am I What do you see me doing, man? >> You're leaving the situation. But I don't know. >> That's it. I want to make a I'm sorry. I didn't make >> I want obviously I'm getting your side of the story. There's an officer at your residence right now getting the other side of the story. Okay. What is the other side going to tell that officer? >> I don't know. I don't know what the other side's going to tell. It should tell you the exact same thing that I just told you. Two people disagree. We got into what we we screamed a little bit and I told her that I'm not going to participate and I'm not I'm not going to deal with this [ __ ] anymore. So, I literally hopped in the truck and I'm leaving the situation. >> Okay. So, so >> so I'm I'm doing all that my counsel told me that I'm supposed to do. I voiced exactly how I felt about the situation. I voiced what I would like out of the situation. I did not get a good response. I got yelled at and I screamed back. I say, "You know what? I'm not doing this. I left the situation. >> I'm just going to ask you this one more time. At any time, did you put hands on the other individual or did they put hands on you? >> No, I never touched them and they never, like I said, I don't have any money. They didn't touch me. >> Okay. And who is the other individual? >> Person that I live with. >> Okay. Which is name? >> Nicole. >> Nicole. Okay. Thank you. Okay. Now, we're finally getting somewhere. This isn't very hard. Okay. I >> It's not about being hard. It It's the fact that I'm being stopped on suspicion of a phone call that had an argument. Sir, you >> you didn't get my name. You're just >> We did get your name. Actually, >> you got my name off of what? >> The person that started talking on the phone to dispatch said your name, Cody Hughes that you left in a black pickup truck with an orange toolbox in the back. I have every right to stop this vehicle after what they said. >> You didn't have the right. I didn't say you didn't have the right. What I'm saying is is that now that you have stopped me, you see that I'm leaving the situation. I'm doing everything that all year and a half of my counseling has ever told me and I'm still the bad guy. >> I never said you were the bad guy. >> I just want I just want to leave the situation. Like I I literally have done everything in my power. Like they say, "Okay, he's on probation for whatever." Blah blah blah. They could have came back and told you I was on probation for a homicide. I don't care. Since my release, sir, since my release 3 years ago, almost three years ago, I have accomplished so much and came so far. >> And that's great. And I'm con I'm trying to continue doing that. I am a I'm not a model citizen, but I'm a citizen that puts back into his community. I own a business now. Divert all the arguments and everything before it can even get to a bad situation. >> Okay. >> Do you have a working IAD? >> Uh not in this truck. No. I have to go and get one inserted because I need to I need to get that done or they're going to suspend all my registration and my license. So, I'm going to Can I spit? I'm sorry. >> Just I'm literally using this so I can leave the situation. >> Okay. >> I didn't take that because I know that it has to have it's in my name. >> I tell you what, I'll be right back with you. I'm going to go call the officer at the house and check in with him and I'll be right back with you. All right. Thank you. >> Another unit spoke with a woman at her home. Her explanation directly conflicted with the man's and officers concluded that he had started the incident. >> So, what do you got there? So we um have a domestic uh um shepped him in the face first after he was calling her a cheater basically. Um he her in the temple uh there is a swelling then she threw his phone on the ground and then he picked her up by the throat to the ground immediately letting go. Um there's red marks on her neck. And then once she came downstairs, she grabbed a set of keys and that's when he uh pushed her into the clo um the door in the kitchen. And there is um red marks that it cut through the skin. >> So you're taking him or her? >> At this point, I'm going be taking him. I still got to ask her more questions, but I I'm going to be taking him. >> Okay. Do you want me to place him under arrest or what would you like me to do? Yeah. Yeah. At this point, what did he say to you? >> Uh, everything was verbal. Wouldn't give me much information. Everything was verbal and nothing was physical at any time. >> Yeah, that's that's that's false. Yeah, take take him. Um, I'm get I'm getting more of the story now, but that he's the predominant aggressor. So, >> Deputy Wallace. >> Hey, it's 240. >> Hey. >> Hey. Everything's going to stay the same. >> Uh, so the battery and the disorderly conduct. Why don't you call him? Um, he's I don't know how agitated he's going to get. He's already somewhat agitated. He's still going to be on a probation hold. So, I mean, he might as well just sit and see the judge. All right. I'll uh just deny Bond just because of you said this has happened before. So, I mean, continuing surveance, I mean, is definitely a reason to >> Yep. Bon Bon is going to be denied uh due to >> All right. She already stated. >> Sounds good. I'm just going to have a word with him and then I'm going to be waiting for another unit. >> Sounds good. Thank you. They're gross. >> I just got off the phone with 240. He's going to be leaving the residence soon. Uh cuz she's not willing to do paperwork. Do you want him to do the transport? >> Got to go to the office. Either way, all my dictation isn't in priority, right? >> Why don't you just shoot him down then? If you're going down there and then no sense having him do it if he's he's the only one. >> I'm just going to have to go through the suspect portion of the paperwork then in the jail. >> An authorization was issued for the man to be taken in. Illinois was about to unleash a family nightmare that would leave even the police stunned. >> Stop. >> I know she's >> Stop it. Stop. >> On March 9th, 2025, a 911 call was made to the Kowani Police Department in Illinois. A woman named Nubia reported that her sister Erica was intoxicated and under the influence of drugs, leaving three children under the age of four alone in the house. When police arrived, Nubia was already waiting. She began revealing the horrifying truths she had witnessed. >> Hi, Nubia. >> What's going on? I didn't get a whole lot of information. Her oldest daughter I have is going to be 14 was involved in a car accident with Erica driving and ended up with all those issues. This was about in 2010. So you better make your moves and call your lawyer cuz I will not spend a weekend in county because I have kids to take care of and I know you cannot take care of my kids. >> Erica, we have your kids taken care of. >> No, you do not have my kids taken care of. You are strangers to my children. You're a legal ass like you be a she just hung up on me. >> Okay. >> After all that, she still made sure to leave the officers with one last. You better take me off this cuff. >> Let's go. >> You have to go. >> Let's go. >> I'M NOT a spitter. >> I can't see JUST RIGHT. I WEAR GLASSES. Prescription glasses. You better take me off these cuffs cuz I will find a way to roll over. I'm not scared of die. I'm not scared of die. So you better take me off THESE CUFFS. YOU BETTER TAKE ME OFF THESE CUFFS. >> C. You better take me off these cuffs. [screaming] A [screaming] TAKE OFF THIS GHOST. >> Erica was arrested and held on three counts of domestic battery along with resisting a peace officer, aggravated battery of a police officer, threatening a public official, and criminal damage to property. Under Illinois law, she faces up to 25 years in prison and $75,000 in fines. With the Safety Act ending cash bail, she could be jailed until trial on these charges. A mother's [snorts] behavior should set an example for her child. But Erica turned it into the wrong lesson, even injuring her child's well-being and peace of mind. On a rainy day in Washington, a seemingly simple child rescue turned into a chaotic clash between a mother, neighbors, and police. >> Yeah, I wish I was child anybody when I left for only 5 minutes. >> 5 minutes is all it takes. They're little children. On February 21st, 2024, Federal Way police rushed to a neighborhood after reports of a baby in only a diaper crying alone in a parking lot. They quickly took witness statements [music] and soon after the mother arrived, defensive and irritable. >> And there was another neighbor that was stood out here. Their little baby was like walking around here in just a diaper and some socks. >> Okay. >> And we didn't really know whose baby it was. We had an instinct like we thought it was theirs. And so I'm also on the phone with 911 and we have like our neighbor out and she comes home for whatever her footage was and I need to like my mom and all this other stuff is my mom. They smashed her baby up in the other side >> and she's in that one right there. >> Yeah. >> She has three kids. Um all are pretty young. >> I try and talk to her. >> You know what vehicle was? You know what vehicle she walked? >> There's a lady that called cuz I'm the one that had a child. >> Yeah. We're just checking on child. >> Yeah. Yeah. So, I'm standing here in front of all the officers and the lady I called. She's talking me crazy. >> What's going on today, man? >> Hello. >> How are you? >> Yeah. >> What's going on today? >> I just got interrupted by this lady talking to me crazy. I told her to leave after she sat there and said something about my daughter. I just went over there to the maintenance people, the maintenance office cuz we're having personal issues that's inside of our house I don't want to discuss in front of this lady here. >> But you just So, oh, you got to understand her point of view, too. Your little one was out here with a diaper on walking around in this vicinity. She didn't go nowhere. There's no little child should be out here alone, right? Because like I said, I didn't go nowhere. >> But your baby made it outside and there is dangerous people around your baby in a second here probably a couple days ago. Ma'am, there's no way that you can get things set that fast. >> You need to constantly have eyes on a little child. Well, you didn't. >> So, what are we trying to do? Cuz like you're trying to say something that I literally can go over there. You can just go ask them that I just came from over there. So, what's next? >> Do you have any identification? >> I do in the house. >> Can you tell us your name? >> My name's Le. [snorts] Mhm. So, what are we doing? >> So, we're documenting what we've what you're saying. >> Yeah. And what I'm saying is true. So, I'm the mother. >> How do you spell your name? >> L A J S A. I'm trying to figure out what's going on here because why does she have to be here in my in my vicinity? What's your lesson? But I have her on camera walking in my house. You have no reason to trespass. Let me walk inside her house. Don't come back in my house. You're not allowed to come in my house. >> Okay. We're talking to remove herself. >> Great. >> Meanwhile, neighbors remained adamant that the baby had been left outside for an extended period. just went in looking for her. >> What I'm kind of gathering from this is you guys where do you live in Vanity? >> She lives here. I'm staying with her for a minute and I just so happened to see a car kind of just back up a little bit and then as I look up at the car because it just caught my attention there's a baby just standing there and it's right here. >> I mean literally like just screaming his head off you. a neighbor that's just moving in down there had stopped and pinned at the same time he is coming towards the baby. I'm coming out cuz I recognize the baby from up here and he's like, "Is this your baby?" And I'm like, "No, upstairs." And I hear him pounding on the door and I hear that neighbor come out. They're talking. So, I put my shoes on and go back up there and knock on the door and the door just started opening and I know she has two more kids and I just put in the holler, "Anybody home? Anybody home? Anybody home?" So, did you enter the residence? >> I did. Just observed two more children in there. And >> did you uh were you did you like bring the baby back up with you? >> Yes, the baby was with me. The neighbor came down there, brought the baby up the stairs, and then when he did that, he couldn't get anybody's attention up there. He handed the baby off to me cuz he had other things to do apparently. >> Um, so you enter the apartment, you brought the baby back up, the baby in the apartment. >> I brought the baby back outside because >> you didn't see any parental supervision. >> I was in there. There was two more children and the baby was letting me go. >> And then the baby was just in a diaper. >> Just in a diaper. He had been out here for a minute cuz he was quite wet. Took my jacket off and wrapped it around him. My daughter brought up a blanket for him. The neighbor brought out a t-shirt for him. By then, she had come walking. >> Despite the clear [music] accusation, the mother not only denied everything, but brazenly accused the neighbors of trespassing her home. >> But it needs to be confidential. My business needs to not be out here friending. Go tell her your name. >> I live here, too. So, I have much's right to be out here, too. >> I'm not telling her your name. >> Talk to us over there. >> Let's go over there. Let's go over there. >> Who's watching your kids right now? >> I am. >> He's going to talk to them over here. >> Well, that's still not enough for me. I'm not comfortable with that. She walked in my house. No, I'm not inviting nobody in my house. >> Well, your kids need to be looked after. We just got to figure out >> Exactly. But I'm trying to figure out what y'all are doing. >> Quietly tell me your name. >> No, I'm going to go over there. I don't feel comfortable. I don't believe that. the way she was talking to me. You are not going to come here and tell me to shut up about it. >> We're not telling you to shut up about it. We're just want our concern here is the kid. >> Well, my concern here now is the people coming and trespassing my property without my permission. Whether if it's a bad kid or not, you don't go into somebody's house. >> I got that. But our concern, our initial concern is the welfare of your children being out here in the parking lot. >> I understand, but they're not in the parking lot. Whatever she says she just sat there and lied, >> but when they're that little, >> I have another kid in there that I can tell you that's old enough to talk. is going to tell you she not been that far over there. What are you talking about? >> Yeah, but you just y'all sat there and lie. Stop lying about the whole situation. It is what I'm saying it is. She's not been over here. She's not been in the car. She had not been in no danger. >> Outside is for children outside. >> If I if I would even think anything, I would think she was upstairs trying to go and knock on my door and have my kids. I wish I had no neighbor that's acting like that towards me. She looking at me like I'm a disgusting booger. Stop playing. She even invoked excuses like I have rights and learning disability to argue with the police to the very end. >> I just told you my first name >> your whole name. >> Can we confidentially go around somewhere else where I >> behind her car right here and you tell me >> behind the car? I don't want to be anywhere next to her. >> I can't even hear. >> Okay. Can we wait till we till she leaves? >> We need to continue our investigation. >> But you're starting to in You're starting to cause issues with We're trying to investigate. >> I'm not causing issues. Number one. Number one, you guys are both attacking to me, talking to me at the same time. I have a learning disability. You guys cannot do that and overdo me like that cuz I'll sit there and tell somebody else. I'll go call your supervisor and we'll go there. >> Okay. Tell us your name. >> Are talking to me one at a time. >> What is your name? >> Not right here. >> Well, then would you like to go upstairs and we can go? >> I would not like to go nowhere near my residence. I already had enough people coming in my house. >> This isn't how this works. >> This is not Yeah, >> this you were asking. >> How about y'all both are talking to me crazy at the same time? Because you're not following our instructions. Okay. This is quite serious. >> It is serious and serious that you're telling people my information. >> There's enough to where we could detain you right now. >> For what? I >> Yeah, I wish I was trying to anybody when I left for only 5 minutes. >> 5 minutes is all it takes. They're little children. If they >> All of my kids are in the house. All of my kids. It's not just one here. >> It's only four. Not just one. You guys only seen one. Not all of them. >> She ran out and a car whiz by and hit your child. She didn't come out here. >> She came out here. That's close enough. >> Down here. Down these steps. That's it. >> Her being out here without this house. >> She had no supervision at her house. >> You guys wouldn't even know that. >> Neighbors revealed there had been prior conflicts between the two sides. >> Let's go over the part when you guys made contact for the first time. You and mother over here. >> Was there any salt? She ever put hands on you? You ever put hands on her? Things like that. Just verbal. When he threats me, things like that. >> Yeah. She told me she was going to put people hands on me. I pick football. You don't >> Did you feel like physically like >> Yeah, if I hadn't walked down the stairs, I'm pretty sure I would have, but I just walked down the stairs. >> Was the Was it to the point of like you felt in danger is what I'm getting at. You felt >> Yeah. Okay. I mean, wondering what happened to her. I know she's probably got her own hair issues, but yeah, but more just cuz I had surgery and I didn't want to be pushed down the stairs. But the moment [snorts] police asked for her ID, the [music] mother instantly switched roles from suspect to victim of the legal system. >> Yeah, because your neighbor's called because your a child's out running around in a diaper in the rain. >> She's not running around here >> outside in a diaper not being supervised. Plain and simple. >> Okay, we could call it supervised. Like I said, I have an older kid in there that that is supervising her. >> How old is your older child? >> He's old enough to know and just tell you guys that she was not in the street and that people are in my house. >> Your children can't be watching your smaller children. None of my kids are watching. Any kids, you got to put in words in my mouth. I said he's old enough to see what's going on. He told me and and I don't care about playing it back. You guys are both acting like you guys don't want to help. >> If we walk over there then you're not. >> Do you hear a doorbell? >> The police lost patience. Handcuffs came [music] out and she screamed, "Get off from me." Had she cooperated from the start, she wouldn't now be struggling to wrigle free from the wall. >> I know every time the doors open, and you do because YOU'RE DONE. >> WHAT IS YOUR NAME? >> Yell at me. >> But you don't understand. YOU GUYS ARE HURTING ME. YOU GUYS ARE HURTING ME. [screaming] >> QUIT COUGHING. >> I CAN'T BREATHE IN HERE. I HAVE ANXIETY. I need my medicine. I can't breathe. My inhaler. >> YOUR INHALER. >> I NEED IT. >> WHERE IS IT? >> YOU GUYS DR MY STUFF. I DON'T KNOW. >> TAKE A DEEP BREATH. I WILL GET IT FOR YOU. BUT YOU NEED TO >> YOU GUYS DROPPED IT SOMEWHERE. [screaming] >> Is it in her? >> I need air. I need air. [screaming] >> I got both her information. She threatened her and she's in fear because she just had surgery. She was holding the baby. So she like flinched at her. I was like, "Did you feel like really?" And she said the way the stair was and the way she was going to go down, she was afraid that she was going to she was going to fall down the stairs. Yeah. All I was trying to do is get to my house and you're lying. And I was asking her what's going on and they were telling me go in there and talk to my son and ask him what's GOING ON. >> YOU GUYS ARE TALKING. >> I want to make sure. [screaming] >> Outside, a car pulled up and her boyfriend stepped out wearing the same scowlling [music] expression as his girlfriend. [screaming] >> Hey, back up. WHAT'S GOING ON? NO. >> GET HER OUT THE CAR. >> NO. WHAT? I need >> Who are you guys? Who are you guys? >> I'm the boyfriend. >> You're the boyfriend. Those are your kids. Are those your kids? Yes or no? >> No. >> She's under arrest right now. >> What for? >> We're child obstruction. >> Those are not child. >> The neighbors found the kids out in the street. Neighbors. >> Who are them? Where are they? >> They are They are all people that live here. Give me one second while I'll be right back with you. Okay. >> And she asked, "Can she sit there and have some privacy?" She asked, "Can y'all even step inside?" No, she said we weren't allowed inside. >> She asked for some privacy and I heard and I heard a lot of this whole point of the conversation on the phone. I was just on the phone before. >> Well, offered to go upstairs where the children are. She wanted to separate herself from the children and that's the primary reason why we're here. >> Like you understand how uncomfortable this is, right? Somebody seen the kid outside. What what's so not neighborly about knocking on the door, you know, why with your kids outside? You feel me? You know, do you know is everything okay? You know, like that's the type of country and type of people I sat there and came from. That's where I grew up around. this right here putting a woman in handcuffs. You got to throw one up right now. You feel me? How much you got her going through right now? >> You got to understand from our perspective though. When we show up, it becomes a legal matter. We have to do our job and investigate it. And she's not letting us proceed with the investigation. >> She didn't feel comfortable being in front of them. >> We had them separated. >> I don't It didn't sound like that. It sound like she was close when I hear her on the phone still talking in the background >> far enough where I couldn't hear their convers. >> That's fine. I'm also recording it as well. They need her information due to the circumstances of the call, right? >> But I'm telling you, yo, this is not a child situation cuz you see how she's looking right now and you see how he's standing over her. >> Okay, [laughter] give me one second. I'm going to get my cuffs out. I'm going to adjust them. >> Can you please don't let THAT MAN TOUCH ME? >> I promise. Don't let him hit too hard. I'm not a man. >> And so the two took turns stirring up chaos. One loudly defending, the other screaming non-stop. >> Go inside. Two. Go inside. Check the welfare of the children. the welfare of the children. All right. You want to go and see it? We can. This right here, this is doing way too much. And I think y'all understand that. I really do think y'all understand. Y this is right here. This is way too much. 24/7 she is at home with these kids. Yo, 24/7. >> Oh, what? The moment that she sits there go try to sit there and check about our situation living here with a parking spot. Oh, she gets police called on her and y'all sitting there and try to sit there and take her in because >> the police called on her. >> She got the And I understand what the reason is about. But I'm saying this right here going to this extent. I'm going to tell you right now, dude. You think she's going to be willing to sit there and be comfortable and talk to anybody in that type of situation when y'all can sit there and do that to her? Oh, y'all. >> Yeah. Yeah. Until the phone cut off and then you know y'all started proceeding with that. If I wasn't on the phone when this happened then I would have never known. And then what? All the all my kids for what? You got to understand how this feels. Would you go through this? Have you ever went through this? >> I have anxiety and I said I'm not going to be able to breathe anymore. Amid the commotion, they suddenly remembered the children left behind. With a boyfriend's cooperation, they went inside together to check. >> The kid need to be checked out. >> No, let me let me check on that. We're still trying to figure everything out, but I believe kids are upstairs. It should be more than one kid. This gentleman right here lives with me, so we're trying to get it all figured out. Yeah, I want to talk to him right now and figure out what's going on. Who is that? >> One second. She called it. >> I worried about the kid. in go and sit there and check the kids right now. >> Have you ever went through that? >> Go up with the fire department to check on the kids. Okay. >> I'll go with you. I got you. Come on in. >> Just ID card. So, >> you're making yourself do that. Hold on. >> Uh 6:15. >> I'm trying to breathe. I can't I can't breathe >> in handcuffs. I gave you one minute. We had a almost 15 minutes of us talking to her prior to that phone call. believe it of us trying to just get the basic information of her name. >> She didn't feel comfortable sitting there. >> We're here for your kids. We care about your kids. >> You care about the kids. If you really care about the kids, y'all sit there and put her mother back in there. >> We have her in handcuffs because y'all are detaining her investigation. Detained for what? >> She's against that. There's no child. That's what we have to That's what we have to investigate. >> No child. Check. Make sure everything's good. >> Hey, how are you, buddy? >> How's everybody doing? Go ahead and check. You're all good. >> Oh, yeah. We're the fire department. [clears throat] Make sure everything's all right. >> I understand that. I understand that. You want to go back in the room, check to see if everything's all good. >> What I'm asking is, is your is your kid acting normal for >> Are y'all Are y'all good? Come on. Let's show them IN THE REFRIGERATOR. LET'S SHOW THEM HOW God blessed us. >> The deep freezer, too. That crazy. >> That's what we're here to check on, sir. We want to make sure they're okay. That's why we're here. >> Hey, Dad. >> Yeah. >> Sorry. I don't know your name. >> Miles. Miles. >> Miles. Would you like to see my ID? >> No. No. No. She didn't. Sorry. I don't >> This is girl. This is her name is daddy now. >> We get out of here. >> All right. You take care. Okay. Have a better day. >> I'm sorry that it got to this point. I truly am. Like when we come to these calls, I have a daughter, right? So, I care about >> You never been through this stuff. >> I >> You never been through this. >> We never want to separate parents, kids, right? We want to >> have them cussing. >> Okay. Do you have her information so we can at least identify her? >> Hi. Hello. >> I don't know who she has on her this backpack. >> I don't need her physical ID. If you could just tell me her first, last name, and um and middle name. That's all I need. We just need to know who she is. >> The boyfriend began to regain [music] his composure and take control of the situation. But the girlfriend kept fueling the suffocating tension. >> I have anxiety and I just I have this big old coat on. It's too hot. >> The the welfare check. I mean, they can't tell you that the kids are being mistreated. >> I'm I'm conducting investigations. I just have you step over there, please. >> All right. >> I need the seat belt off. We I'm not >> We can't We can't release the seat belt right now. >> Yeah, you can. You can just take it out of me. >> Can you sit back so it's not putting pressure on you? >> I can't. >> We'll place you back into the car in the proper seating position and rebuckle you. That is my compromise to you. So then you'll be comfortable in the seat. >> I don't understand why you guys are making me seem like I'm a crazy person. And I promise I'm not that kind of person. I'm not trying to fight you. I'm not. I just want to [laughter] >> You guys aren't helping. You're amping her up. We're trying TO MAKE SURE SHE'S OKAY. >> I'm trying to conduct an investigation with her. I've been calm and cordial with her the whole time. >> I'm not saying nothing of that. >> She's going to stay in cuss regardless. >> Okay. Either way, >> that's against our policy. I'm not going to break my policy for that. She's been cleared by fire at this point. So, let me just conduct my investigation. That's all I'm asking. That's it. Yeah. >> So, what we're going to most like is like we're working on this right now. She'll be issuing a citation. Okay. >> And we'll be releasing her here. Okay. >> Okay. >> You know, everything will be documented. Everything else like that. Okay. >> All right. >> And then um that way you'll be able to get back to work. She'll be able to continue to watch out for the case. Okay. >> All right, man. That's all I'm trying to sit there as a means. It's not, you know, trying to go back and both sides, you know. That's why I'm back and forth on the phone, you know, with my LT. So, we're going to issue the citation to the back. >> But she's under arrest. So, >> that's my step. IS MY PHONE EVEN WORKING? >> YES, MA'AM. >> Why is there water in my phone? >> It's working, man. >> Yeah, I put water in my phone. >> She would have been fine. It would have been a lot better. >> Let me get work on getting a citation for >> and uh we'll work on getting her going from there. Okay. >> All right. >> I appreciate it. >> Y >> I didn't do nothing to you. >> That's 343. >> 343. >> D so I don't DESERVE THIS. I'M ONLY 90 LB AND Y'ALL HOLD 300 LB ON ME IN MY BACK AND Y'ALL CALL THE PARAMEDICS AGAIN. >> You want the paramedics again? >> Yes. >> Okay. Let me [laughter] >> They're going to take me to the hospital now. >> You want to go to the hospital? >> I want I want all the they did to me. >> I'm okay. Thank you, man. >> I can do it, man. >> You want to wipe now? Don't don't don't. Man, you already did too much, bro. Come on now. >> That lady was wrong. That lady was wrong. You know it. You know it. because I felt like I was treated like crap the first time. >> Ma'am, we have an ambulance on the way. >> No, y'all wait for the ambulance. I don't want I don't want to be treated like no more. I already got that from the officer and I got that from you guys to sit here and tell me I'm doing this by myself. You guys don't know what's going on. I don't want to talk to you guys. I don't want the ambulance. >> Okay, >> thank you. >> After nearly 30 minutes of chaos, screaming, [music] and overacting, police had to remove the cuffs and place her in an ambulance. Naturally, that triumphant face showed not a single trace of remorse. >> So, here's what's going to happen. I'm gonna undo your seat belt and we're gonna have you step out of the car. When you step out Okay. Can I talk for a second? Thank you. When you step out of the car, I'm gonna have you turn and face the door frame right here so I can undo the cuffs. Do you understand? >> All right. >> Okay. Get out. You go this way. >> No, I have to have you come out and step this way. It'll make it more. >> I want to tie my shoe. >> I'm not going to tie your shoe. You're going to get into bed right now. So, here's what's going to happen. We'll step out. Uncuff. You can tie your shoe with my sho string. >> I'm sorry. I can't help you there. If you want him to tie your shoe, he can tie your shoe. >> This is crazy, man. I can turn around. >> Can you tie your shoe? My baby got this for me. My baby got this for me. Y'all ruin everything. >> Let's have you step up. >> People like you turn face to the car. Can I have you straighten out your head for me like that? >> Nothing to nobody. They ain't hurt nobody nobody and did nothing. That's what they do. >> All right, ma'am. You can go with the the medics. >> What did March 5th and you got to be there at 8:30? >> Nice to meet you. >> You want to come to >> Can I make sure my not in here? Yes, they're right here. Here's all your stuff. That's everything. >> Can I look in here? >> No, ma'am. You cannot. That is all your stuff right there. >> That's not all my stuff. >> That is all your stuff. Ma'am, the medics are waiting for you at this point. >> I don't care about no medic. Y'all broke my stuff and I'm looking for my missing property that don't belong to nobody but me. I paid for it. I want you guys to help me find my stuff. You guys are the ones that drew me everywhere from all the way over there to over here to over here. I need to find my stuff. >> I just want all my stuff. But we need to know what we're looking for. >> I feel like they chose my stuff. >> Why is this messed up? And this is a port number receipt. Can I get another copy of it? Cuz I need it. >> We didn't do that. >> You did? How is it wet? >> If it fell out of your bag, we >> It did not fall out of my bag. She's a liar. >> Would you like to go in the hospital? Would you like to go on the ambulance? >> I would like for you to leave me alone. >> Okay. Well, I have all these other medical professionals standing here. If you don't want to, >> I wouldn't need them if you wouldn't have had put your hands on me. Like, >> I said if you do not want to go with them, I would like to release them cuz they got other people that they could help. >> I know. Give me a break. I just got out the car. I've been sitting there. >> I guess you guys can release. If they need back, we'll uh we'll go ahead and uh call. >> The mother faced charges of child [music] and obstructing justice. Under Washington law, she could face up to two years in jail and [music] a $10,000 fine. However, in the end, police chose not to arrest her and instead issued a citation, a far too lenient price for the child had to endure. Being a parent is not a privilege, but a promise to love, protect, and guide your child with heart and responsibility. Hopefully, the mother will stop and change because the child deserves a true shoulder to lean on. Do you notice the common thread in today's stories? Whether on a beach, a busy road, or in a small home, there is always a child on the sidelines. Uneasy, worried, or quietly watching adults lose control. These hidden scars may not be visible, but they stay for a long time. We cannot change their past, but we can shape their future by choosing better actions today.
