What are you doing? >> Get over here. >> Sometimes my just comes because I never do. They just come for no reason. >> Police often arrive after a situation has [music] already moved beyond a safe point. In front of them are explanations, conflicts, [music] and emotions that haven't had time to settle. >> She was holding. You can see the meat. Her feet was pressing in so hard. >> Chelsea. Chelsea. I put him in the pool cuz we're being funny. >> When the line between discipline and well-being becomes unclear, the story stops being about the adults and turns toward the children who need care [music] and support. >> Did you get rough with him? >> Not today. >> Not today. >> Was the mother truly in control of her behavior that day? On June 3rd, 2024, police conducted a welfare check after receiving multiple calls from witnesses concerned about how a mother was interacting with her 9-year-old son at a neighborhood pool. At the scene, officers approached the mother. She appeared cooperative at first, but quickly became defensive when asked about what had happened. >> How you doing? This your call. Where you coming from? >> Uh down by the dumpster. >> Okay. Where's your son? >> He's with my neighbors. They're bringing him up here. They He didn't act with me. >> How'd he get down there? They took him down there. Maddie lives right here. We walked over there and I had argument and and went over there and I just went to the house and let it let it go. Was not in the car with me at all. >> Okay. >> Today. >> So, I've had a couple of people report to me some things that were going on at the pool today. Can you tell me what happened with that? >> No, we were just at the pool hanging out. >> Yeah. Y'all were at the pool hanging out? >> Yeah, >> I got it. Did you get rough with him? >> Not today. Not today. >> No. Yesterday he was playing with some kids. He had those um the pool noodles and there were some kids in the pool and they were playing war out of the pool and was outside the pool. I said, "Mason, you have an advantage. You better get in the pool." He got upset with me because I embarrassed him and he me with the noodle in the pool. I said, "We're going. We're leaving." He said, "No, we're not leaving." I said, "Get in the bathroom. We're leaving. put your shoes on. He runs in the bathroom and locks me on the door. Like, I'm trying to raise a 9-year-old kid that is just doesn't listen to his mom, you know? So, whatever you heard today, I I I don't know. But I'm I'm struggling having my kid listen to >> I get it. I've raised two on my own. I get it. But at the same time, when I get a couple of different reports kind of saying the same thing about how rough you got with him and open hands and that kind of thing. >> So, that's not the case. >> No. Like he runs, he locks me out of the door, out of the bathroom. Like I don't >> Did you discipline him at all? >> Yes. Yes, of course. Like was that the call that you got? >> How did you How did you discipline? >> Let's go. And I dragged him out. Like there's noing and anding. It's just like he locks me out of the bathroom. I say, "Get out of the bathroom. Let's go." And we're leaving. And I'm like, "Go. We have to go." There's noing and >> Okay. So, >> and that's fine until people tell me otherwise that I can corroborate. Now, we got a problem. You understand what I'm saying? >> Do you have your ID on you? >> Yeah. >> Can I see it, please? >> Are you going inside to get your identification? >> Inside. I just have to get my car. >> Trying to get to the bottom of this and find out what the deal is. >> I don't know what the deal is. In response to the concerns, she insisted her actions were only meant as discipline [music] and rejected any negative interpretations. >> No, me. I don't want to come here. Oh, you're here. >> That's what upset him. He's lying. >> I thought you said they were bringing them up. >> They are. I'm not lying to you. >> How much alcohol have you had today? >> I'm sorry. >> How much alcohol have you had today? >> I probably had four with white claws. >> That played up any emotions or anything dealing with him at all? No, it has been like this all the time I was off today. >> So, you hadn't left here at all? You been here? >> Yes. Yes. >> Where were you down there? Somebody you know, a friend or >> Yes. I have uh a coworker that lives down there in front of the dumpster and then a coworker that lives right here to the left. >> I just need to uh verify what happened today. >> Nothing happened at the pool today. We left. We came home and was just He's nine. >> Mhm. I'm all for disciplining children. >> But but how how do you do that? >> You know, you can't open hand slap him in the face. >> No one did that. >> Okay. >> His dad's a marine and he listens to him, but for me it's it's not like that. Like I struggle when I have my weekends with me. >> Now, how often do you have him? >> Three weekends out of the month. >> Three weekends out of the month. >> Yes. >> So, a good bit of time. >> I I I just I don't have a partner. Like I'm not I never got remarried. >> Have any other kids? >> No. One. >> Well, nine. >> I'm not a [ __ ] Like >> 9year-olds [snorts] will be 9year-olds. >> He listens to his dad. >> To support her account, the mother sought understanding from officers by describing [music] the pressures of being a single parent. However, when specific details were mentioned, she tended to avoid addressing them directly. >> A lot of people do it, and I know how hard it is. >> But nothing happened at the pool today. >> Nothing? >> No. Well, yesterday at the lower pool and with a noodle and I said, "Stop." He got upset cuz I said to get out of the pool and he with a noodle and all the It was so embarrassing. All the parents saw it happen and what was I supposed to do? I just I I said don't do it again. >> Don't do it again. >> So, did somebody come to you and say, "That's enough. We're not going to do that." >> No. >> Nobody. >> No. Nobody said a word. >> Okay. >> It was It's so quiet. It was extremely quiet. >> The only incident happened was yesterday. Yes. >> Not today. >> No, nothing happened today. Like we had a good day today. Did you hear something different? I >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. I've heard a couple of accounts of an incident that happened so from different people. That's the only reason I'm here. >> No, but who >> who doesn't matter? The the what matters. And is it true? So, >> the truth the truth is is I have a 9-year-old. >> Yeah. I need to I need to see him. Okay. I need to verify that he's okay for one. >> Oh, of course. Absolutely. Okay. Let me call the neighbors. >> Hey, Kayla. Uh, so I'm up here again talking to to her and I just wanted to verify some um facts with you. So >> yeah, of course. >> When did this happen? >> Before 6:30 uh Rogers. Yes, it was today. He was off duty and he was up there um and he was calling I guess somebody at department um sheriff's department to let them know and he asked me what time it was. That's why I know it was about 6:30 when she was leaving. So when all happened it was probably about 6:00. >> All right. So, what did you see yourself? >> The first thing that I noticed was, of course, the White Claw can. There's about three of them by her chair. They were empty. And then he was standing by the pool. He had got his little ninja turtle toy. And she literally just came up behind him, ran and him in the pool. And then when he came up, he was crying. And then after that, you know, she jumped in after him and she was pushing around the pool, pulling him around the pool. And, you know, he was telling her, "Please stop. You know, leave me alone. Don't touch me. No, no, [snorts] no." And she just kept on. At one point she went over to the deput offduty officer over there and was like, um, how am I supposed to raise a boy by myself? You know, how how can I do this? You know, all he does is cry. D, you know, and she was pretty much laughing, you know, while she was pulling him around and stuff. Um, and she thought that he liked it, but he obviously didn't. We're leaving. We're leaving. And then, you know, he didn't want to go with her, kind of dragging him around, running him, chasing after him, trying to get him out of the pool and was going to drive home. And then Deputy Rogers stopped stopped her. >> So he he intervened. So >> yeah, he did. >> He intervened at some point and said something to her. >> It was whenever they went to go to try to leave cuz initially I thought that she was there with the other lady, Ariana, I think is her name. I thought that they were there together but I wasn't really paying much attention to it. Once she pushed him in the pool, that's when I started paying attention, you know, cuz I felt like the football jumped around and that was, you know, my main concern. And then when they were gathering all the stuff up, you know, she was like, "Come on, let's go. Let's go. You know, you're embarrassing me." Um, is what she told him. >> How you doing? Good. Hey, let's walk up here. Y'all want to let's come out here. We can talk. >> At the same time, officers spoke with a [music] child. What stood out wasn't just his words, but the tension in his expressions and body language while his mother sat [music] nearby. A sign that a child's emotions can sometimes say more than words. >> Can you tell me what happened at the pool today? Did you get in trouble at the pool? >> I mean, this >> You're not in trouble with me. Okay. I'm just trying to find out what happened. So this shows us I don't know how old she was so she was there and then he told me to play and then there was there's three kids and then they told who wants to play monkey in the middle and one throw so it's like a water balloon >> but in the circle it's a magnet and it somebody throw it at me and I'm like >> did did you get in trouble? Were you did your mom tell you to stop? I was like, so she did tell me to stop, but I was like, you're always on people's side and then I'm playing and then when I'm playing like she's trying to hit me, but but not her bully. I was just playing with her. >> Who was you? >> Um the new >> the little girl. >> Well, yeah. >> Or your mother or who who was >> No, the little girl. And then I was like trying to be funny and stuff, but I got a little mad. So, >> yeah. What happened when you got mad? It's okay, buddy. You don't You don't have to say anything if you don't want to. You're not in trouble. >> It's just I'm tired and stuff. >> Yeah. What are you tired of? >> Like saying like I was watching I was watching a movie and I got really sleepy so I tried to sleep and then >> You have something you wanted to say? >> No, I'm just like questioning him, you know, like nothing nothing terrible happened. >> I wouldn't be here putting you through this. >> No, understood. Understood. And it's just like I got I got on to him yesterday about something. >> So you weren't at the pool today? >> No, we were at the pool. We were at the pool on the hill. We were not at the pool lower. >> At the pool means being >> by the house. >> We were [snorts] not at that pool. >> But you were at the pool today and there was an incident at the pool today. >> No, there wasn't an incident at the pool. I'm not sure what the incident today at the pool was. >> Well, I told you the only reason I'm here and I told you what >> understand >> was said. nothing happened. It's >> not like I picked you out of a crowd and said, "I'm going to give her a hard time." >> Well, Chance does live across the street from us. So, I I He told me you were coming to see me. >> Mhm. >> So, I I just I I don't know exactly what the issue is. I didn't drive my car from the pool today. He wouldn't let me. You know, I had to go ride from the pool. I I did drink at the pool, but I didn't drive my car. >> You didn't drive the pool? >> Yes. Yes. About 4 hours later, like I I I didn't drive my pool. had put me in the car when we were driving. Like I I respect Chance and if he says don't get in the car, you don't get in the car. Like I >> I'm not here to scold you for being good, bad, or indifferent parents. >> The incident that happened and allegedly happened and I'm not sure what it was because, you know, nothing happened. Like we had a good time today at the pool. So I just I I just don't understand. Like we played with Chance and his girlfriend and played football with them. You know, there was another family that played with. So, I'm not I'm not really understanding what the incident was at the pool other than the fact that I may or may not have driven my car from the pool about 2 hours ago. >> I'm not worried about the car. >> I'm worried about spotty, you know. >> Does he have bruises on him? >> No, I I mean, I do have this, but it's good. >> I He swears. We went to the pool. We went to the the beach >> in Florida >> two weeks ago, and we were on Crab Island. He swears it was my fault that he had a sunburn. But >> but it was >> it wasn't. >> It was. >> I told you. I said you got to put some sunblock on you. There's on like everything's fine. So I'm I'm just really confused as to why we're here. >> I told you why I'm here. >> Understood. >> I'll tell you again. >> Understood. I just got >> three different stories and they all line up except yours. Yours is completely different. story is that was acting up. You got mad at that point >> and then when we got home, I was trying to be nice to >> No. Yeah. Well, let let him let him tell us what the story is. >> The conversation with the boy raised further concerns. [music] He appeared hesitant, cautious, and inclined to downplay what happened. A response often seen when children talk about a caregiver. Meanwhile, his mother repeatedly interrupted. the way that you um got on to him or u him was the whole situation. That's why I'm here. >> Explain to me what the situation was. Was this at the pool here or up the hill? >> It was today at the pool. >> Okay. >> I don't know which pool. >> Well, yesterday, >> whichever pool is on the property that you were at today at the lower pool, there was a situation. >> I'm talking about today. >> Okay. There was no situation today. So, that's where I have a problem because I have two two different stories saying there was a problem today. And if you want me to tell you the story in front of me and I'll be happy to. >> No, no, don't. Please don't do that. I just I'm confused because we had a really good day today and I don't know like where this >> today around 6:30. >> It's just I It's just I just sometimes when people just being mean to me, I just >> kind of like get sometimes like try to calm down, but I can't. Oh, but that's not what you're saying. I I don't know what situation was happening today because Chance was with us at the for like the last 2 and 1 half hours. So, I'm not >> And you're saying Chance didn't come up to you and say, "That's enough." >> No. Chance said, "Don't get in the car and I didn't." Okay. >> I got someone to take me home. That was that was the whole thing. You said >> So, that's a whole another situation. The fact that you've got a 9-year-old in a car with >> Was it in the car? >> Was your car here? Did y'all walk to the pool? No. How'd the car get to the pool? You drove to the pool to the pool. We drove to the pool at 2:00. >> And then what did you do at the pool? >> So, we were the white claws. You drank >> there for a while. >> You see what I'm saying? >> No. Yes. I I I do. I do. I understand. >> I can I can talk about So, first we were the first ones at the pool and then I wasn't getting and then we were taking pictures from the pool. >> Chance Chance drove us home from the pool. >> Yeah. And then and then I got a little scared. Why'd you get scared? >> Why'd you get scared? Who did you get scared of? Somebody or >> I thought we were going to get handcuffed. >> Okay. >> Just now. >> You thought we were going to get handcuffed >> when >> when when what was his name? Chase >> Chance. He you drove us home. Remember >> home? >> I didn't put my back in the car. I [snorts] I don't know why this is like I did I never took back in the car. >> Do you have you or anything? No physical contact at all. >> Oh, the only physical contact is when I try I'm trying to get him to to do something in public and he doesn't want to and I just have to do this. But like that's literally all I can handle. I mean, he's a strong kid. I >> I'm trying to do it, but I can't do it. >> Wait, is like a >> legal? Like what are you asking? >> I think all parents do not or something. >> Mommy doesn't say >> that's a general term I'm using right now. >> Okay. in this situation. >> Open hand slaps to the head. >> No. >> Grabbing into the pool. Any of that. >> No. In the pool cuz we're being funny >> and then and swim. I mean it was >> I mean I thought I thought I thought that was sometimes I get sick because I don't like getting pushed in the pool. >> Well, you didn't want the pool. >> No, it's just I needed some alone time. No, it's just I want I wanted some alone time. >> Were you mad when you got pushed into the pool? >> I just I just wanted some alone time. I I got a little sad and then this 5-year-old um your mom was talking to me and then and then I was like, I want some alone time to think about what I did yesterday. >> Can you lift his shirt up and let me see his back inside? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> However, some noticeable signs on the child drew the officer's attention. >> What's that right there? right here. >> Oh, I think I think she like like on this side this other side. >> And what's what happened to your arm right here? Right here. >> Oh, I think that was the I never got hit. It's just sometimes my just comes because I never get hit. They just come from where where was it? It was like was it like right here? >> Mhm. >> Yeah. >> Sometimes I look on my knee and then there's one that I never got lobby as easily too. >> Total punishment is not illegal. Drinking is not illegal. The way you do it could be across the line. >> When you say the way you do it across the line, what do you mean by that? >> She know that. She didn't know that she explain. It depends on the circumstances. >> So corporal punishment is popping on the bottom, dragging them in the car like like what what is corporal punishment? >> I mean not there's not a law book. I'm just telling you it all depends on the circumstances. >> So this is all because somebody said that they saw me like physically. >> Mhm. I told you that up front. >> Okay. Okay. So this has nothing to do with me drinking at the pool and not driving in my car. >> That is a piece of the puzzle. But my main concern is for him and the way he's been treated if it's bad. >> Understood. Right. Okay. What is this? We're we're good. >> All right, buddy. I'm going to step back outside. Thank you for talking to me. Okay. >> The mother's account shifted several times. [music] At first, a full denial, then saying it was just playing and later acknowledging certain disciplinary actions. These inconsistencies led officers to take a closer look. >> I got a problem. >> What's the problem? The problem is his on his body and the bruising on his arm line up with the story that I'm being told from the pool that you say you weren't even at the pool today and there was no incident at the pool today. >> You're at the pool up the hill. >> Don't play games with me. You know good and well you were at the pool today and you said you weren't even at the pool today. >> I we were at the pool up the hill. Not this one. >> I don't care if it's up the hill, down the hill or in the lake. >> So what do you want to do? >> I'm not exactly sure what >> you're going to take me in. Are you trying to scare me? No, I'm not trying to scare you. You think I I got better things to do than to pick you out of a crowd and come scare you? >> This is my son. This is my only son. You're telling me corporal punishment is not illegal, but then you're telling me that you see some on him that you think I did. >> You yank him by the arm and you him in the pool and you yell at him. >> There was no in the pool. There's [ __ ] This is ridiculous. >> No, ma'am. It's not ridiculous. No, to you it is not ridiculous, but to me this is just I thought I was getting in trouble for something completely different. This does not make sense. >> The way that you punched him today that I was told you punched him. How how >> you snatched him by the arm him around. You ped him in the pool angrily him on the head with an open hand. Are you denying any of that? >> Yes, I am. >> You're denying all that. Okay, that's all I need to know. >> We were playing we play. He's a good swimmer. That is a a a shallow pool. We have fun, but when he gets when he denies me and he he he doesn't do what I say. Yeah, I have to drag him out into the car. But that did not happen today. It did not happen today. It happened yesterday. >> Listen, I get it. Kids can get under your skin. >> I struggle. >> They really can. You won't let anybody talk, so I'm just going to shut down and I'll just do what I got to do. >> Another witness [music] gave an account consistent with the initial report. Perhaps worried about getting his mother in trouble and trying to protect her. [music] The boy did not fully explain what happened. >> So you're saying you saw what? >> All right. So grab the pool. Did you open hand in like it was? >> Yes. I'll test that. Um because I'll test that and I'll take that 100% like slack on the back of the head was like unprovoked and it was he gotten on to or something. Me and him were throwing the ball. She would come in and she was just pushing him, pushing him and playing and he'll start crying and she'll get you could hear exactly what she was saying to him. Stop crying. There's girls looking. Stop crying. Stop crying. But she was just, you know, when she was holding, you could see the meat around her fingers pressing in so hard on his recital. Hey, you're me. She had him like right here and then went whap like that. He starts crying. She's like, "Stop crying. Stop crying. Just breathe. Just breathe." I'm like, and was telling me basically, how you doing, sir? Uh my uh I'm Robert Bost. >> Uhhuh. >> Boston is my grandson. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I talked to Robert. You give me just a minute. We'll catch you up speed. >> Okay. >> And so I told she basically told us your chance, you know, he's he doesn't need his mom. I was like, well, you don't need radio. You he never laid a hand on. >> Unprovoked. Absolutely. It was very, very uncomfortable. >> Way too aggressive. >> Way too aggressive. When he walked out on the rib right here, did see a red mark. Well, because right there a little bit of >> because he was grabbing back grabbing her back. >> Did he try to snatch away from her? >> He was pushing on for she wouldn't let that scratch. >> Again, I'm just trying to be unbiased, but I like I said, I I'll take a hell of a s. >> Although no final conclusion had been reached, officers decided the child would stay with a relative for the night [music] to help ensure his emotional wellbeing. >> Do you mind taking with you? >> No, absolutely. He was staying with us earlier this week. Uh, I brought him back today so she could visit with him because basically it's her visitation. As a matter of fact, I went by Fit Kids and paid for 3 days for him to go there. While she was at work, >> there was some allegations of some I don't want to say, but it was very aggressive type, I would say. Just put it that way. >> They were at the pool today. She seemed to be fine. and so did and cuz was happy came up and gave me a hug and then uh she brought >> I'm seeing some things that that are pointing me in in that direction. So I think I'm going to be on the safe side and just if if you guys would take some >> Yeah, absolutely. >> And let me kind of sort out what's going to happen here. >> That's his grandmother and I'm his grandfather uh on the paternal side. >> Since the grandparents are here, I'm going to let them gather his stuff up and he can go with them tonight just to get a little separation. Okay. Just want to let you know they're going to come. >> Why are my parents here? Who called my parents? My parents are here. Who called my parents? You called my grandparents. >> I don't have any idea. >> Who Who did this? >> No idea. They just showed up. So, where are your parents? >> You They just showed up. This was a call here. Why are my parents and the grandparents being called? Like, I don't understand. How did this happen? >> There's going to be some separation. >> No, no, no. How did this happen? You showed up because Chance, why did my parents get called and the grandparents? No, I'm living. This was for us. This was for me. How did my parents and the No, >> I won't. >> This is going to get >> This is a setup. No, Chance gave you some information. Settle down. >> No, I will not. I will. >> Fine. >> That's enough. That is enough. >> Chance you. I didn't do anything today. and quit with you. Why did you do this? Does mommy pay you for this? Are you helping him get into law school? You piece of [ __ ] Why did you do that? Why, Chance? WHY DID YOU DO THIS? >> I tried to let her do this calmly without him seeing that. I hate that that happened and I'm really sorry. Would y'all mind going in and getting her his stuff? >> No, I I have no problem with that. >> Is this yours? >> Is this yours? Is this your phone? >> Yes, sir. >> Hey, buddy. >> That day, the adults behavior affected many people emotionally, especially [music] the child. From a legal standpoint, this was a necessary step to help ensure safety while emotions were not yet settled. >> Mom's not crying anymore. She's okay. >> Daddy's going to talk to her tomorrow. Okay. Hey man, can you come here and look in your suitcase and make sure >> When is she going to go back? >> She'll be back tomorrow probably. >> You want me You want me to go with you? >> Make sure you got everything you want to take. >> Go with you. >> Another backpacking. >> I'm real sorry y'all had to see that. I really didn't want it to happen and escalate like that. I can't let it continue like that, >> right? >> I've got to shut it down. >> She's She's not thinking rationally. I don't know. >> Well, alcohol doesn't help anything. >> Yeah. >> You got everything you need? Thank y'all. Okay. Well, thank you. >> What do we do? I'm her mom. I don't know. We just got a call. >> She'll give you a call probably. >> She was >> Don't apologize. I'm sorry that anybody had to see that. And I do not like doing that in front of people. So, I made sure the cats were fed. Got plenty of stuff. I guess your parents are going to try to make sure everything's secure. Okay. We turn up here and talk to Champ and it was a whole lot more >> a lot more >> and uh he seemed fine down there but as we were bringing him back up here >> she got real anxious. >> I can tell you how it all started. she's she works with us so we're familiar with her and she came knocking on my door and I answered and she cracked the door um and asked me if stayed with me for about 20 minutes and I I thought that was odd but I mean it wasn't too out of the way so I was like okay and I was like is everything what I was like more aggressive >> she him in your door >> she just told me she just moved him in and I said I'm just being honest cuz I don't want to play either side I asked her what happened and she went like this and she said, "I just need a minute." And she went and he came in my house and he was barefoot and he was hysterical. I could not get the baby to calm down. I have two very large dogs in my house and they were both trying to jump on him and he was getting over stimulated. So, I called my best friend that lives with you. >> So, that's how he wound up down there. >> That's how he went right there. >> So, he was at my house. So, I called her and I said, "Look," because I'm like, like I said, I'm very pregnant. I've worked all day. I didn't know what was going on. I needed help. So, I called her. I didn't know what was going on. She pulls up to get us because I didn't want my two dogs jumping on him while he's crying cuz he was very overstimulated. So he gets in the car with her. I go over to get >> Jess is not home at this point. >> Yeah. I go over to get >> shoved him in and went off somewhere. >> I went over to get the baby shoes cuz he was barefoot crying. She wasn't there. So I just said, "Just get in the car, baby. We'll it's okay." So we took him to your house and then from there on it was the three of us. I didn't know what was going on. I was uncomfortable. That's my piece of what happened in the rest of it. We had nothing calming down in my apartment and then Jess showed up and talked to him. >> Yeah, she showed up. She didn't go inside with him. She stayed out in front of the house and we were out there talking to her. Uh >> the mother was charged with secondderee felonyy [music] to children. Under Georgia law, if convicted, she could face a sentence of 1 to 10 years in prison. Every child has the right to feel safe, heard, and raised with care. They need not only food and clothing, but also an environment where their feelings are respected and fear does not become a daily norm. >> He had visible signs on his body, but was not able to clearly explain what had happened to himself. On July 11th, 2024, police were dispatched to a residential neighborhood after a report of unusual noises coming from a home. They did not yet know that behind that door was a tense dispute between two adults unfolding in front of children, forcing officers to make a difficult decision in a very short amount of time. Okay. Sorry. No, I'm not speaking English. >> Okay. >> Relax. Yo, relax. >> What? >> Yo. Yeah. >> Yeah. No. Espanol. Espanol. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. Boom. I don't know. I mean, I don't know what you saying. Okay. >> Police went back inside the home and began taking statements from the mother and the child. However, they faced a major obstacle. a language barrier. >> You guys speak English at all. >> Don't touch it. >> Try to tell me what happened. Hey, don't touch it. Don't touch it. >> Okay. >> Are you okay? >> Relax. Hello. >> We're here on scene. Uh we're we're okay right now, but she's she's battered pretty good. Can you tell them that medical is on the way? And can you tell her that we have an officer coming here that speaks Spanish? >> Did he hit you just with your fist? Just with the fist. Okay. Okay. We'll just wait. Okay. >> There's nobody in there. She said that it's always closed. >> Okay. We're We're good. Thank you, though. Are you okay? Are you okay? You want to sit down? [laughter] >> They'll come to you. >> [laughter] >> The early details of the incident remained unclear, but signs of the scene suggested a recent disturbance. Could speaking with the father help clarify what had happened? >> All right. Yeah. Turn around for a second. >> Thank you. Okay. He's got his leg and then he's saying his face and then he says he's got something on his left arm as well. So where's your leg? bisexual. >> He was saying that he was a pretty calm person and was trying to be away from her. She then was kind of, I guess, trying to talk with him. Just wasn't having it. >> The information gathered indicated that the man's account did not fully align with the situation officers observed. >> She started yelling at him that he was trying to go to the other room to separate himself from her, but she wouldn't allow him. And at some point in time that he has on his uh inner thigh was from a pair of scissors. She had scissors first. He would say that she initiated contact first. He then separated herself from her and she smacked herself on the door. Smack herself on the door. So what he's saying with the what she has on her head, they started grappling and that's when he got smashed in the face and >> Okay, I just missed the beginning part of it. So he says he's bisexual. What was that first? >> Pretty much like just relationship tensions between the two. >> She's upset that he's >> Yeah. Essentially he's wanting to get with the separate from her and get put his pants. >> Yeah. Cuz I mean he was actively fighting with her when y'all got here. She gets him with the scissors. He goes and puts clothes on and then re-engages or re-engage him. >> He did say that he was in in boxes whenever he sitting. >> He was in boxers. It wasn't remember all this time. So the pants would come on sometime after. >> Okay. Well, when I walked up here, the little girl did this motion. >> So, and that's what mom said. It was that was a close fist. She was a close fist. >> Yeah. >> So, you get the kid saying she was she said she fell. >> Yeah. So, I'll type it up. I'll type up his statement and I think we're good all day with charging him. I got it. I just keep on with um Yeah. So, I'm going to do a back um interfering with 911. You ask him about that and knock the phone out. >> Yeah. So, he would then make the claim that he also tried to call 911. So, I guess I don't know if that's the other one that they're saying. >> Oh, look at Do you have his number? His cell phone number? >> Uh he he doesn't know his cell phone number. It's on his phone. So, we have to get that. But I got his >> Can you have him unlock it and see if he called 911? Uh, he claimed that it was damaged and all smart. >> The man was charged with aggravated domestic violence, unlawful restraint, and domestic interference with reporting. Under Illinois law, if convicted, he could face a prison sentence ranging from 5 to 11 years. Children may not fully understand adult situations, but their natural reactions can sometimes reflect events in the most [music] honest and thought-provoking way. Separating a child from their mother can be a difficult decision for police. But in the end, being with a parent does not always mean being safe, especially when the adult is no longer calm enough to make clear decisions. >> I got to go. >> Stop. On August 10th, 2024, while on patrol, officers encountered a woman carrying a baby and guiding another child along the edge of a busy roadway. They immediately stopped to step in. It was clear the mother was in a state of panic, breathing heavily, overwhelmed, and not fully aware of the risks around her. >> Hey, hey, what is going on? Stop. Stop. You got this little baby in your arms. Settle down. Hey, hey, hey. Settle down. Settle down. in my car. >> Put him in the back seat here. Come here. Come here. Put him in the back seat. He's okay. But love alone is not always enough to ensure safety when someone is emotionally overwhelmed. Officers had to take control of the situation to protect the children while also helping the mother gradually regain a sense of calm. >> Chelsea, >> she's going to drop that baby. >> Hey, come here. I'm not playing with you. Come here. Walking down the side of aing highway is not safe for these kids. >> Yes, sir. >> So, get over by my damn car. Hey, >> please. Help me. Help me. >> Help me. We have to walk him out there. >> I'm in your house. >> I understand. >> Angel, let's go, man. Let's go. >> I apologize. I apologize. I'm in your house, man. >> You call your girl to pick it up? >> Yeah. >> Call. She knows you're on your way up. >> That's not the right way. >> Angel, hold on. Angel, here. >> That's not the right way to be, man. >> Don't be doing all that for no reason. >> Well, you could do all that with that girl. >> I'm just trying to talk. You ain't got to do all that for no reason. >> Go. And neither do you. >> I'm just trying to talk TO YOU. >> MAN, WE'LL LOCK YOU UP RIGHT HERE AGAIN. YOU'LL AND I'LL MAKE SURE YOU go to court. Run your out that door. All right, man. Take care of yourself. All right. >> All right. >> And recording. >> You had somebody >> the man could be charged with aggravated. In your view, how should situations like this be evaluated when accounts differ and emotions run high? Share your thoughts in the comments below the video. A father in Florida caused concern when he drove far above the speed limit. >> How was he driving so fast? Did it scare you? No, it scared me. I can tell you that. Oh my goodness. He's doing 128 mph. >> The incident happened on May 26th, 2024. When police pulled him over, he admitted he had no valid reason for his actions. Driving at such high speed not only breaks traffic laws, but also could put children at serious risk. >> Pulled over by the old Vertigo of Scourge Nursery. Turn off the vehicle. Step out of the vehicle. >> Dispatch has been updated. Dispatch has been updated. >> Just step over here on the grass. >> Yes, sir. I'm sorry. >> Is there anybody else in the vehicle with you? >> My kids. >> Your kids? >> Yeah. >> Oh my god. What is going on with you? >> Oh, no. I'm over your kids. >> 14 and uh three. We were just I'm sorry. I have >> 14 and three. What are you doing driving like this with the kids in the car? >> I don't have no really good excuse. I was just on the back. >> Do you Do you know how fast you were going? I believe I ate over 100. >> Yeah, 128 is the fastest I got you at. Holy smokes. With a three-year-old and a how old? >> Uh 14. Like I said, I was just on the back row. I'm I'm sorry. It wasn't like no excuse. >> I appreciate you not trying to just throw out some random like BS on me. I appreciate that. Is this your vehicle? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Okay. Yes, ma'am. >> Do you have your driver's license with you there? >> And is this still a good address for you? >> Yes. >> In Auburnale, Florida? >> Yep. >> Where are you coming from right now? >> I'm actually coming from St. Augustine going to my parents house. >> And where are your parents at? >> Dillan. >> Okay. >> Yeah. Like I said, I'm not condoning it. I was just the back road and I was had a stretch of road and I was like, "Oh, stretch it out." >> Yeah. I'm sorry. >> Okay. >> Yeah. That's [laughter] all I can say. >> Are you on probation? Nothing like that? No. >> Anything like that? Out on bar? Nothing? >> No, ma'am. >> If I was, I would. Honestly, I was just everything I was like 12 is a three-year-old in a car seat. >> Yes, ma'am. >> That's one good thing. I don't know how good a car seat's going to do at 120. There no firearms on you in the vehicle. >> In the vehicle. >> Where is it where none of the kids can get it? >> It's in a case. >> It's in a case. Is it loaded? >> No. >> Okay. Never. I just didn't want the I didn't know how you kid. >> Everybody, even my brother, he's a military like always keep it loaded, but it's like >> we got kids. It's a little bit different when you got kids in in the car with you. So, where's the three-year-old at the back? Driver, passenger. >> Passenger in a car and you sitting in a car seat and the other kid is in the front. >> In the front. All right. Well, just hang uh tight right there. Let me look at your driving record here. See how bad and bad is. All right, Deb's going to hang out here with you real quick. I'm just make sure the kids are buckled in. Police prioritized the children's safety. They checked the child's seats, spoke gently, and tried to calm the 14-year-old boy. >> How are you guys? All right. You know why? I I stopped you, right? Do you stay just with him or you have your mom? I don't How do you >> Well, right now we're here to visit my grandpa back at the house. >> Okay. And where do you guys live? I can't remember where where is that at like from here? How many hours away do you know? >> 2 hours. >> 2 hours. >> Am I going to be detained? >> You already are detained. >> I I know, but I'd be taken to jail. >> Oh, I don't know. I know. I'm just trying to find myself. That's all. It's just like it. >> How was he driving so fast? Did it scare you? No, it scared me. I can tell you that. Oh my goodness. He's doing 128 mph. That's fast. Is this your sister back or brother? Who is brother? Okay. Buckled in back there. Okay. Know how much good that would do at that speed, but hey, that something's better than nothing. So, where are you guys trying to get to right now? >> Back to my grandma. Grandpa. >> Where? Where's that at? >> Land. >> In the land. How old's your brother? Three. Yeah, crying. That's good. Let me uh talk to your dad a little bit more and see what's going I just want to make sure you guys are seat belted in. This one was in a car seat at least. See how we're going to deal with this, man. 60. He's doing 128. Like that's crazy. I know. I know. Like, you know, you can't control. I don't care if you guys got seat belts on or not or car seat. Like that speed. Does he do this often when when you ride with him? No. Huh? No. Yeah. >> The only time he'll probably do it, he's make sure the road is probably empty, but he makes sure. >> Yeah. >> He doesn't do it too often. Not too often, but he's done it a couple times before with you in here. What's the fastest speed he's gotten up to? >> Probably just 110. >> 110. Oh, he topped that record tonight. 128. All right. Ain't tight, man. >> Even though the children were wearing seat belts, officers noted that at that speed, seat belts and child seats may not offer full protection in extreme situations. The father had to face legal consequences. >> Bring him back here. I'll just >> Hey, James. I didn't know you were you have your wallet with you and your phone there, right? >> Yes, ma'am. >> Try to be respectful with you. All right. I need you to place your hands behind your back right now. I'm trying to do everything we can to limit the stuff that your kids have to say. >> Would I be able to call somebody? >> Yeah, we're Yeah. Yeah. We're going to work with you, dude, for that. Not get them to family or something like that. >> I I don't mind wanting to go. I just I don't want to I I just don't want to >> Well, that's we're that's why we want to we don't want your kids to see all this. You know what I mean? >> Did you understand like there's a lot of deer on this road? >> I know. I that bad. So, obviously, you know, you're going to jail, right? Big issue is right now is is the kids, you know, in the car speed. Deputy Hershey was saying there's a lot of deer and stuff like that out here. >> Like I said, it wasn't the smartest decision, but I I drive through here often. My wife is stationed in Palm Coast, so every now and again I'm driving through here. So, it's just I know where the deer would normally would normally sit. >> Where did the deer normally sit? >> They're everywhere. But, like I said, it was I'm not trying to make excuse. >> Yeah. No, I and I appreciate that. As soon as you got out of the car, you didn't try to like say you just said, "Yeah, I got no good excuse. You're driving 120. That's not okay either, but then when you have your kids in the car, man, like that's it. I don't care if they're seat belted in, car seat, whatever. At that speed, deer run out in front of you, it's Memorial Day weekend. Somebody's driving drunk, you're not making it. Your kids aren't making it. And if they do, probably be vegetables. They're going to be severely whether they're belted in or not. And that's I don't know. >> I don't have those, you know. >> Yeah, >> I understand. >> How do you think you could live with yourself if you got into accident? Your kids aren't here now because of your actions or they're severely disabled for the rest of their lives. Think about you having to live with that for the rest of your life. It was an action that could have been prevented by you. You know, it never needed to happen. And then like now you you've got to live with with that the rest of your life. Man, we just got to be smarter. Like I hope I hope tonight opens your eyes up. Ultimately keeps you from driving like this fast ever again. At the least not driving this fast with your kids in the car ever again. I know you said you had family. What family? >> My parents. >> Your parent. I want to make sure that before we make any calls, arrangements to have them come here. Have they been drinking? I know it's it's the week the holiday weekend. So, I don't want somebody coming up here that's that's been drinking, partying, or anything like that. So, they're going to be sober. >> During the stop, he mentioned he had some personal items in the car and denied any involvement with illegal activities. >> Before we do anything else, is going to poke me, stick me, prick me, or sir. >> All right. Anything in your pockets that you shouldn't have? Any illegal of any kind? >> Not in my pockets. >> Do you have anything? No. No. No. No. >> Not in my pocket. >> Just forget you for me. >> You said there's a inside the car. >> Yes. Do you have someone that can pick up as well? My Paris could take it. >> Yeah. These I got itch thumb print for this. >> Yeah. >> Oh, actually use it can use >> Is he doing all right back there? He's getting hot. Okay. When this is too, >> huh? >> Matt. >> Matt, you're going to have to come pick um the up. Uh I got pulled over, so they're going to take me to jail. >> You don't get license. >> I have my license. the speed. >> Can you come pick up the kids? Just pick up the kids >> and you're good. >> And uh No. Okay. Just uh Wolf. Okay. We'll we'll be be here until >> Yeah, we'll be here until the game. >> Okay. But me? No. >> Probably. >> Yeah. Okay. Yeah. If we just uh just come down this way, Matt. >> Okay. All right. Love you. Bye. >> I think we're going to have Grandma come pick you up. All right. >> I'm not going to lie to you. Yeah. He can't be driving that fast with you and your brother in the car. We're trying to, you know, help him out the best we can, but we just can't let him get away with that. That's That's so unsafe. >> Oh, yeah. I forgot. There's another pistol. I forgot I put it in the back of the Audi. It's in the trunk. >> In the trunk. >> Yeah, but it's in the the side. I I forgot I brought that one. So, there's another pistol in the trunk. In the side. >> There's a If you put the trunk >> Yeah. Not a pocket, but there's like a a door that you go open, you know, and it's back in there in a case also. And that one's not loaded. >> Heard his mom was calling back just real quick. >> Hello. >> What happened? >> No, I was speeding. I was doing one 128. That's all. Doing that speed. I'm going to be getting taken to jail. Anyways, >> police asked the father to reassure his children to calm them down. >> Hey, man. You know how about the jump on this thing? That's a new one. >> All right, man. Here's the deal. All right. I'm trying to help you out your kid out. Okay. If you want to wait or you want to do it now, it's up to you. But what we can do is bring you there. Pop your head into the window. Just tell your youngest like, "Hey, these officers need some help. I'm going to go help him. >> Grandma's going to come pick you guys up and take you home. I'll be home later on. You want to do that now or you want to wait?" Oldest does know. >> I know. Doesn't matter what. >> He kind of figured it out. You know, my partner wasn't going to lie to him. >> No. My kids, they've seen especially through the divorce uh or not through our arguments and stuff like that. I mean, I don't want I don't I mean, the big things I don't wantize, especially your youngest, I don't want to traize. We've kind of done things before. You want to kind of poke your head in there and just be like, "Hey, Ryder, like, you know, I'm going to go help these deputies out with something. Grandma's going to come pick you up and then I'll be home in a little bit. You want to do that now or you want to wait until they get here? It's up to you. But >> let's just let's just wait." >> While checking his personal items, they found an item that required further check in his wallet. I said I'm I'm [laughter] >> stuck in my car. So >> you're going to be going in the SUV anyway. So this is just temporary for the time being. >> Would I be able to get all the information bonded and all that? We'll get all that and then I mean I don't know what deputy prov got but we'll we'll get all that and then we'll get it to you. Okay. >> Oh Jim, >> what's up? >> So that was right >> in his wall like sticking out from behind those cards and sticking out like >> I got you. >> How long have you had it for? >> Uh that probably a couple weeks. Yeah. I I'm not a a heavy user but I just I just use it here and there. I mean, do you use cocaine still now or you just I mean cuz obviously cover both oper. >> Yeah, it's it's either or, you know, but it's just like I said, it's it's uh with the stress with everything. I just like I said, it's not a it's not Oh, it's not a good habit. >> Yeah, definitely not. When's the last time that uh you used >> uh it was today? >> Today. What time? >> It was earlier >> as in like >> when I got to my brother's house, which was a couple years a couple couple hours ago. And you used some out of that bag or some out of >> Yeah, some out of that bag. >> Soon after, family members arrived to take temporary care of the two children. >> What happened? >> Your son was going very fast. He was going 128 m an hour. >> God, >> that's a big problem. You know, going 128 with his kids in the car. That's, you know, obviously, uh, you're here. Take custody of his kids. He's going to jail. He'll be able to hear >> him, but now we can probably hear. >> Yeah. We want to get the kid out of the car seat and get into your >> and get into into your car. The vehicle's getting towed. All right. >> Yeah. >> Helping the light going through here. >> Yeah. >> Thank you. >> Just like that is a positive result. I kind I like this. And it's either line or not. I mean, it's not like, oh, >> yeah, but my >> how much of bond? >> Don't know. And don't I don't know until she gets the charges finalized. And we don't set bonds here on the road. It's the actual jail deputies. So, what you could do in a couple of hours, it's going to take a while at this point. >> So, all these are unloaded. >> Yeah. >> And then, uh, this magazine has rounds in it, but it's out and max. >> Okay. Do you know your charges or No. >> Yeah. I mean, some of them are. >> Okay. So, she hasn't finalized her charges yet, so she's not going to know. And until she gets her charges done and gets it over to the jail deputies, then they will tie up the charges, the corresponding bonds, and then they'll be able to give you a bond amount. At this point, it's 2:00 a.m. She hasn't even left yet. I wouldn't call until probably 8:00 a.m. So, probably 8:00 a.m. >> Yeah. Call the jail, give him his name, and then by then, they should have a bond. 6 hours. Okay. All right. You guys are good to go. Thank you so much. Sorry about the delay. Okay. >> The car is going to be us. We'll take care of the car. All right. >> All right, James. So, we tested that powder that you thought was me. What was it? >> Fentanyl. >> Fentanyl. >> I don't know if you bought from the same guy you normally do or a different person or what, man, but >> cuz we um crystal before, but >> powder as wide as >> we we pushed it. >> I'm sorry, but really my um >> here. Go ahead and step out of the car. >> We're going to move you to a different car. You are still in your shoes. You can check them. >> Yeah, we got to check the shoes. >> We'll do we'll do in the car. >> Okay. I think that's a little easier that way. Just put your butt in. Leave your feet out. Yep. >> Go ahead. Slide your feet in. I'm going to buckle the seat belt. If you don't bite my arm while I reach you, try to fix this land. We might [laughter] We might be able to do that. >> The father was charged with reckless driving, child end, and possession of a controlled substance. Under Florida law, he could face four to seven years in prison. One impulsive decision on the highway can bring serious outcomes, especially with children in the car. This is not just a violation of the law, but a reminder of responsibility and awareness when driving at an unlicensed child care facility. Several young children experienced minor incidents, raising concern about supervision and proper care. >> Um, the 2-year-old her leg 2 days prior, kiddo got her finger stuck in a closet door and ripped the nail off the nail bed. >> On August 15th, 2024, St. Petersburg police received a report about a 2-year-old child who had a leg accident at a homebased child care facility. When they arrived, they discovered the location was operating without a license and the caregivers's [music] explanation did not align with medical observations. Hey >> there. >> Hi. How are you? >> All right. Did you already interview with the kid? >> Yes. >> Oh, you did? >> I've already seen the kiddo. She So, I got this report cuz this is a home daycare. The mother was under the impression that she's licensed. I have licensing with me out. She was parked down there. Her name's Hope, but she's not licensed. >> And mom reported that she has up to like five kids at a time in her care. There's been some issues with supervision. Um the 2-year-old broke her leg while in her care last week. Mom took the kiddo to the hospital. Hospital basically said that theory is inconsistent with the child falling on her own and something or someone must have fallen on her and the daycare owner was unable to provide an explanation as to what happened. And then like 2 days prior, kiddo got her finger stuck in a closet door and ripped the nail off the nail bed. Basically didn't say anything to mom until mom said something about it. She goes, "Oh yeah, I knew she was sitting in there messing with the door, but then didn't do anything to stop it." So, >> hey, how you doing? All right. You got the sheet and the cover. >> No, we're remote right now. We moved offices and we don't have access to literally anything. So, I had to write down Annayia Johnson. >> Police quickly went inside and knocked on the door where the caregiver was waiting to explain the situation. >> Sound like one of those video games where you had different puzzles to solve. Man, that grill smells good. It does. >> I just love the smell of the the coal and the fuel on it. >> Yeah, that that smell is the lighter flu later. >> Ladder fluid makes me hungry. That's so funny. It's not the smell of the cooking food. It's that lighter fluid. >> The first coming >> the first week we moved here, my wife and I rented kayaks and went out fishing, not knowing anything about what we were doing. But she caught a flounder. So I flayed it and put it on. All we had was just a little grill cuz we were in an apartment. Put way too much lighter fluid and so it ruined the fish. I didn't Well, I didn't let it burn long enough. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Hi, Johnson. >> Yes. >> My name's Alissa. I'm with Department of Children and Families. >> I'm here cuz I received your report. >> Yeah. >> I just want to speak with you about that. Let me get my shoes. Sure. >> Hello. So I just need basically your side of what happened and you know an explanation of how she may have gotten >> in the shade. >> So um basically she was just running and playing and she just basically fell down face forward and I think the way she fell down is how she came down along on her leg and I think that's how it >> Okay. Where was she when she was running and playing? >> Um in the living room. >> In the living room. Okay. Were you in the living room with her? >> I was sitting in the kitchen. Yeah. >> Okay. Was anybody else in the home? Was she the only kid here? My son was here and there was another child here. >> How old was he? >> Five. >> Five. >> Yeah. >> Were they playing together? >> Yeah, they were off playing. >> Okay. And Okay. So, she was running a plane in the living room, fell down. >> Yep. >> And then what happened when she fell? >> She fell down and she got up and she started complaining and she fell back down. She started to cry. When I seen she started to cry, I just went to her, you know, to check out. >> Was she able to walk at all after that? >> Um, no. I stood her up, but when she stood up, she still liked that. So, she wasn't able to walk. About what time did this happen? >> I'll just say like 3:30. I know it was a nap though. >> What time? >> Yeah. 3:30. >> 3:30. >> 3:30. >> What day? >> This was Friday. >> Last Friday. >> Yes. >> Right. Is that No, >> whatever. Last Friday was >> last Friday. >> Yeah. >> Earlier, one child had a minor hand, but the caregivers's response was not sufficient to prevent further mishaps. >> Okay. So then >> after that happened, I u text her mom, sort of what happened. She was like on the way to come get her. When she got here, I explained again what happened. Yeah. She left. They went to the hospital. She told me what happened. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> On a regular day for you, you have a home daycare, correct? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, how many kids are normally in your care? >> Four. >> Four kids? >> Yes. >> Okay. Is that not including your son or >> No, not including him. >> Okay. >> He was home for um well getting ready for school or summer basically. He was home from 2 weeks from his preschool daycare. >> Okay. Where does he go? >> He used to go to Infinite Potential Mining Center, but he started at Jameson next Monday. Okay. >> Yeah. >> And I know of an incident a couple days prior where she got her finger stuck in a closet door. >> Yeah, she found it in the closet. >> Yeah, >> she was playing in the closet door opening and shutting it and she fer bedroom. >> My bedroom. And were you in there with her? >> Yes. >> Okay. Did you try to redirect her at all to get her? Okay. >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I try to well I redirect all the time but you know I can't physically you know restrain somebody's job from doing something so I can only redirect as much as I can verbally but you know that's the only thing I can do. >> Yeah. >> Has any like this happened with any of the other kids? >> No, never. This is my first incident ever. Okay. >> Yeah. >> All right. >> The woman running the facility described it as a simple play act, but the investigation highlighted that lack of proper supervision could result in more significant incidents. Have you talked to um I I text her after it happened after she told me she her leg. I said, you know, I'm sorry. Let me know if there's anything I can do or bring to her, you know, after you guys get discharged. She didn't text me back. And then I text her the next morning. I was like, hey, how's she doing? And she never text me back. I haven't talked to her at all, which is understandable. I know she's upset, but you know, I wanted her to know that it was really an accident. I've had her for over 2 years, and nothing has ever happened to her or any of my kids that I had. I just wanted her to know that it was an accident. >> She been with you 2 years. >> Yeah. Okay. You know, things happen. It was actually I felt really bad about it. I still really feel bad about it, but it was an accidental. So that's all I can really say. >> When it happened, you were in the kitchen. Is in the home. Are you able to see the living room? >> Yeah. So I have a I have a bar, but I can see over the bar, too. >> And that's where you were sitting. >> Yeah. Well, I was standing. >> Yeah, that's where I looked. >> And then where how were they like running in a circle? >> They were just all just all tag. >> No, just like all running around causing craziness. Yeah. Okay. >> Yep. And then when she fell and you helped her, did you put her like on the couch? >> Yeah, I sat her down on the couch. Which leg was it? I think it was her leg. >> Mhm. >> Yeah. Tried to rip her leg and that's when I um felt like a lump. >> Where did you feel? >> Right here like right about >> felt the lump. I told her mom about that as well. >> Okay. >> Um yeah, she laid down. She was crying. I got her calm down and then she fell asleep eventually to her mom got here. While she was sleep, I just went some ice on it. >> Mom got here, she said. And then about what time did mom give? >> Maybe I'll say four. Maybe like 30 minutes later when that's extra. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Did you give or anything? >> No. No. No. >> No. >> No. >> Uh just you here. Nobody else besides your son and >> Yeah. >> the kids. Yeah. No. No. Were there any adults here at that time? Okay. >> Yeah. >> Operating without a license also created legal issues and increased risk for the children. >> Have you guys talked to Regina? >> Mhm. I have. >> Is she doing okay? >> Okay. So I had to hopefully work right now. So you said you have to take care. >> Yes. So I was um I'm in the middle right now. I have them come out and expect and did all my tests, did all my classes. So yeah, the next step is um them actually giving me my license number. >> So when was the last time you made had me in contact with our office? >> Um I have to look at my email to give you an exact date >> cuz the last time we have communication with you was in April and you have not submitted all your work. So you have children in your care with your license childare. can't do that skills so long. >> They told me that I was able to do it private camp. >> Okay. >> The only child only children that you can uh provide care for are family members. The care that you're providing now is unlicensed. >> Okay. >> So >> So do you have any children in your care now? No. >> Okay. No children in your home right now. >> You said somebody told you that you could do that. >> So I know when um I was taking the classes they said that you could do it privately. >> Okay. >> Sorry. I'm not sure who told you that. >> Okay. Whoever told you that, I'll make sure that they don't tell you that you can't do that. And if this parent chooses to press charges against you, you have to turn it over to stay turn. >> Okay. >> But only family members. >> Yeah. >> And only one household of children. Let's say you had no family members and I wanted you to watch my child, whether I have one child or whether I have four children, you're allowed to do that. If she says, "Oh, you watch Hope's Kids. Can you watch mine?" Then you need a license. So it's for multiple households have to have a license. >> Okay. So, are you in are you going to continue the licensing process? >> Yes, I am. >> Okay. So, if you're going to do that, you can no longer have children in your home. Okay. >> Um, so let your parents know that if they come back to you, but you need to contact the office, speak to the supervisor for home and ask her what additional paperwork that you need to submit prior to accepting any additional children. >> Okay. >> Okay. Y >> I just got educated. >> Well, yeah, I'm glad you told me cuz they told me that I could do it. They call it private pay. Yeah, they told me I could do that, you know, until I get my license and then I can get paid through the state through the ALC. So, okay, got somebody. >> Yeah. >> Yep. And keep everything above board cuz they just had a baby in custody at at a licensed daycare at a home daycare. >> Yeah. And we just don't want this or anything negative to affect you becoming licensed in the future, >> right? Got >> cuz we need all the people to watch kids we can, >> right? Yeah. because there are there is a huge need in getting our providers to be on the up and up and not have any issues. >> Yeah, that's the reason I I started a daycare because my son was getting from daycare and I found out he was getting and it was a family member actually. >> So that's why I I wanted to start a dayare but thank you for letting me know. >> So I'll give this to you. This is my card case number on there as well. Our investigations are open anywhere from 30 to 60 days. I'll try not to be in your business that long. >> But if you have any questions, just feel free to reach out. My cell phone number, my email's on there as well. Thank you. >> What is a good contact number for you? >> That is myself. >> And is all your information that we have still current? >> Yes. >> Super quick, can you verify your date of birth for me? >> Thank you very much.
