Put your hands behind your back, you're getting tased. >> You tase me, you're going to kill me. I will Knock it off. KNOCK IT OFF. NO. VANESSA. >> IN TODAY'S BODY CAM, WE HAVE another contestant in the prestigious actions have consequences competition. Meet Jennifer. Jennifer has apparently decided that if your friend hurts your feelings, the mature adult response is to hold their things hostage until they learn a lesson. Most people would handle a simple disagreement with a text message, a phone call, or maybe a little passive-aggressive post on Facebook, but not Jennifer. We're going to watch as she repeatedly explains why she's not breaking any laws while simultaneously demonstrating breaking laws. And if you enjoy hearing the phrase, "I'm not resisting." while someone is actively resisting, congratulations, you've picked the right video. >> On September 22nd, 2024, Deputy Newman of the Polk County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a bar in Milltown, [music] Wisconsin after a complaint was received of a woman, later identified as Jennifer, who had kept her friend's belongings hostage in her car. >> Hello, I'm Deputy Newman with the Polk County Sheriff's Office. What's the occasion? What are you dressed up for? >> I'm at a memorial service. >> Oh. What can I do for you? Are you here Who are you here with? >> Vanessa. Vanessa Peters. >> Yeah. Okay. So, we got a call from says that you have some of her belongings. >> And? >> And she would like her belongings back. >> I left them at my friend's house. >> Well, she's here now, so we'd prefer to get it taken care of now. Is there a particular reason? >> She's supposed to be here with me. Not running off. She's supposed to be here for me. >> What's your name? >> Huh? >> What's your name? >> I don't have to give it to >> You don't have to give it to me. >> [clears throat] >> All right. Well, you can't just hold her things hostage because you don't like that she's what she's doing. But that or what she's not doing. >> It was the plan that I drop her off at her house today and that's what I'm doing today. Drop her stuff at her house so she can go home today. >> So you're essentially upset with her that she's not hanging out with you today. >> Nope. >> So what are you upset about? >> I'm not upset with her at all other than the fact that she's disrespectful to me. >> Okay. >> So yeah. >> So you're not giving her belongings back. >> Not right now, no. >> Because she's disrespectful to you. >> Okay. Pretty much. >> What time do you think that's going to be? >> I don't know. >> 10-4, we have a 21 for >> It goes until 4. >> What time does it go until 4? >> Mhm. >> Okay. So what belongings do you have in >> I have one at home. Do you want me to get it for you? >> her air stuff. I don't know what all is >> Just a dash, please. And no checks here. >> I get that you're upset. I understand that you're upset. You have every right to be upset. >> Like I said, I'm not upset. >> So then what are you? >> I'm going to go inside and finish this memorial. >> Well, I need you to give her her things back. >> I not really right now. >> What's that? >> It's not happening now. >> What's that? Maybe I'll go somewhere else. Okay, so this is considered theft. >> No, it's not. >> How not? >> Because she's supposed to be here. And it's not theft because she knows she's getting it back. It's not considered theft. >> It is considered theft because you're withholding her items. >> No, I'm not. She'll get them when I go home. >> You're withholding them from her when she wants them. And they're her You are withholding them. That's considered >> on her time. It's on my time. >> That's considered theft. >> No, it's not. >> Yes, it is. >> No, it's not, ma'am. >> Yes, it is. >> You can argue with this all you want. >> Okay, so what do you want me to do here? >> Enjoy your day and go about it. Because there's nothing you can do about it. >> Oh boy, I don't even know where to start with her. >> [laughter] >> First of all, what kind of a memorial service is she at where she is wearing tinsel ears on her headband? It's the first question I have. Second of all, I didn't know that 1:00 in the afternoon was Miller time. Third of all, does she seriously think that it's not theft just because in her warped little brain she has the intention to give this this lady her items back? Does that mean it's not theft? Like Oh, I'm going to, you know, take your watch, but I intend to give it back eventually, so it's not theft. Really? I want to know what items that she has. I mean, any item, like she could take a freaking pencil and this woman would have the right to, you know, have the police, you know, do whatever they need to do to get it back because it does not belong to her. And she has clearly admitted that she knows that these possessions are not hers because she acknowledges the fact that she was planning to return them. Meaning she knows that she has items that doesn't belong to her. She's not denying that. She's not saying, "No, these are my things." She's not saying, "No, I don't have anything of hers." She's actively saying, "Yes, I do have her items, but they're going to be dropped off at her house later, so move along. Move along. You're not needed here, officer." Oh, she's a real peach. She's She's going to be real difficult. She's just sitting there puffing on her siggy, not giving a damn that this police officer is there demanding that she return this woman's items. And well, she's mad. She's mad cuz she's disrespected because her friend ain't there. The way she's acting, I wouldn't want to be there either. She doesn't really sound like a very fun friend to be around, you know what I mean? >> There is a lot of like like Okay, I I >> I'm not breaking any laws. I'm sitting here smoking a cigarette. You walked up to me. >> Yeah. >> So, I don't see a problem. I have done nothing wrong. >> So, she's telling >> I'm not breaking any laws. >> She's telling me that she has medication in her in your car. >> And she'll get them back. >> That she needs >> She's already taken her meds today. >> She's telling me that she needs these items. >> And she'll get them. >> Fourth of all, where are her teeth? She's speaking like she has no teeth. Is it easier to smoke a cigarette if you have your dentures out? I don't know. I don't have dentures and I don't smoke cigarettes. Fifth of all, does she not realize that she has possession of medication that is not in her name and that could also result in a charge? I'm pretty sure. Let's find out. If you possess medication that is not in your name, is that against the law or can you be charged with anything for having medication that's not in your name? >> According to Law Office of Michael Alarid, if the drugs are in your possession, whether in your car, purse, or pocket, and you don't have a prescription, you can face criminal charges. >> That's what I thought. If you have drugs in your possession, whether in your car, purse, or pocket, and you don't have a prescription, you can face criminal charges. Even if someone left the pills in your vehicle or handed you the bottle to hold, that doesn't automatically protect you. Now, I'm sure that what the prescription is probably matters. Like whether or not it's a controlled substance or if it's just like an asthma inhaler. She just willingly told this police officer that she is holding prescription bottles that are not in her name, and she's refusing to give them back. What is she a doctor now? Oh, she took her pills earlier. She'll be fine. Seriously? Oh, this is This just keeps escalating into a worse and worse problem, isn't it? >> Again. >> She'll get them. >> I have the pills. >> Excuse me. >> Deputy Newman now talks to the friend and her husband, Kyle, who had called the officers in the first place. >> I mean, I don't understand. >> The thing is, we tried to make it as simple as possible. Like, let's give her stuff so she can go home, take her meds, and go home with >> Grandma. They're like, she wants to, but she doesn't get to see her grandma very often anyway. >> No, no, no, no, no. >> I don't know what we're going to help her cuz she's got seven I have problems, and I go over there and help her in the house, and I What are you doing? >> I'm sure you do. And the last thing I wanted to do is create a scene in front of somebody's memorial but when somebody is literally being unreasonable, no matter how nice you are to them. That's kind of the last option is to call the police. >> Mhm. But I don't care what she calls me. I need you wherever. No matter what time it is, no matter what, whatever. So, do you understand kind of what I'm I'm getting what I'm getting at? So, she's probably going to get arrested. She's probably going to post a $150 bond or whatever it is. And then she's going to come back here and still >> Tell me nice one. 10-52. >> and still not allow you to have your stuff. thing on her head. She's got like glittery things. She's wearing a purple shirt. She heard the towels go. >> Where are we going? >> Huh? >> You open the car? >> What the [ __ ] is she wearing? >> [laughter] >> She's wearing these chunky heels and a little skirt and a purple Henley baseball tee looking thing and her little tinsel ears. Really? You're going to go to a memorial service and you're not even going to put your teeth in. Seriously, how are you going to go to a memorial service and not bother putting your teeth in? Especially when you're ALL DRESSED UP. >> [laughter] >> OH GOD, I am holding back so much. Can you tell? >> I'm not breaking any laws. >> You're being totally uncooperative. We're not going to give her her stuff back. >> You need to get away from right now. You kicked me in my teeth yesterday. I'm going to call you again, [ __ ] >> Is that your stuff on the ground or hers? >> We have a phone. >> Nope. >> I don't have a phone. >> Oh my [laughter] god. >> [laughter] >> Oh my god. >> [screaming] >> OH MY EYES. MY EYES. OH, THANK GOD SHE WAS WEARING PANTIES. OH, THANK GOD SHE WAS wearing panties and thank god she was wearing what looked like men's underwear because I don't think bikini briefs or thongs could have hold that [ __ ] in. OH MY GOD, MY EYES. Oh Jesus, we almost saw lady lips. Oh my god, we came so close to needing a blur screen. >> [laughter] >> I might need something stronger than coffee. Oh my god. Holy [ __ ] All right, let's continue. >> Well, you can't go anywhere until we figure out where this phone is. >> I don't know. >> Okay, so have a seat. >> Do not go back in that bar. >> assaulted me. >> Sit down, please. >> Sit down or you're going in handcuffs. >> No, I'm not. >> Yes, you are. Have a seat. >> I'll stand, thank you. >> Have a seat. Do it now. >> I don't have Please, Lord, let her stand and not bend over again. >> [laughter] >> Sweet, gentle baby Jesus, let her stand. Don't let her sit or bend over again, please. Tell us what you said. >> Turn around. You're going in handcuffs. >> No, you're not. No, YOU'RE NOT. GET OFF OF ME. NOW. >> We will taze you. >> Get your hands behind your back or you'll GET TAZED. >> YOU TAZE ME, YOU'RE GOING TO KILL >> HOW ABOUT you listen then? >> Do you have everything? Get off me. NOW. I'm going to have a [ __ ] a heart attack or a seizure if you don't get off me. >> How about you cooperate? This is your fault. >> I am cooperating. >> No, you're not. >> I said I'd stand because it hurts when I sit. >> not to stand. All right, now you're under arrest. >> Why? BECAUSE I MOVED MY ARM? >> NO, because you hit her. >> NO, I DIDN'T. KNOCK IT OFF. >> GIVE ME YOUR OTHER HAND. >> NO. >> GIVE ME YOUR OTHER HAND. >> STOP. You're hurting me. Now, stop. >> Stop resisting. >> I'm not resisting. >> Yes, you are. >> No, I'm not. And I didn't hit her. I moved my [ __ ] >> Yes, you did. I watched you. >> I didn't hit her. Get off of me. >> I did too. >> Get off of me. Now, get off of me. Get off of me. You're [ __ ] my [ __ ] hand. Knock it off. Stop. Get off of me. >> All right, you're going to turn around. >> Get off of me. Are you done now? You can take these off. You're hurting me. >> Hope you're going to jail. >> No, I'm not. >> Yes, you are. >> No, I'm not. >> Yep, you are. >> No, I'm not. Why am I going to jail? >> Because you hit my partner. >> I did not. I moved my [ __ ] hand. >> Nope. >> Yes, I did. >> Does she not understand that the act of hitting somebody involves moving your hand? >> [laughter] >> I didn't hit her. I just moved my hand and she was in the way. >> [laughter] >> Yeah, no. >> What's this? >> Knock it off. We need to roll you over to the other side. >> Why? >> Roll to the other side. >> Why? >> We have to secure the >> lock your other handcuff. >> We have to secure the other >> secure. I can't get out. >> We have to double lock it to make sure it doesn't get any tighter. >> You're hurting me now. Stop. >> Then quit fighting. >> I'm not. >> Roll to your other side. >> Stop. You [ __ ] [ __ ] >> You're a bad listener. >> No, I'm not. I'm somebody who's not breaking the law. >> Yeah, you are. >> No, I'm not. Now, leave me alone. >> Stand up. >> I can't. >> We'll help you stand up. >> No, you won't cuz you're hurting me. >> Stand up. Put your legs under you. Put your legs up. >> Stop. >> Put your legs under you. Put your legs under you. >> if my knee wasn't locked. >> It is not locked. Put your leg under you. >> Yes, it is. >> The other one moves. >> The other one, yeah. But I'm not putting pressure on the leg that's locked. >> So, how are we going to stand up? >> Sit up on your butt. >> Stop. >> And stand up. >> Will you stop? >> Stand up. Stand up. >> Stop. You're hurting me. >> Stand up. And walk. >> No. >> Stand up and walk. >> NO. MACE HER! >> GET HER UP, GET HER UP. >> I CAN'T [ __ ] MOVE, YOU [ __ ] >> NO. Can you get some assistance out here? >> No, they need to let me go. Get back. >> As someone who has a bad knee, I would be sobbing in pain if I fell on the concrete like that with with my knee twisted. I would be in so much pain. So, I don't I don't know if I believe her. I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I don't I don't know if I believe her. She doesn't sound any different. Oh, my knee's locked up. Oh, my knees hurt. If you have knee problems, too, let me know down in the comments section. If I twisted my knee and fell on the ground or if I just like dead fish just to piss the officers off and fell onto the concrete on my knees or twisted or anything, I would be crying in pain. My knee would hurt so bad. I don't believe her. I don't believe her. I think it's just a [ __ ] excuse. She might have a hurt knee, but I don't think it's hurt that bad. >> Get off me. >> Do you need an ambulance? >> [ __ ] yes. You saw me go down. What do you think? >> Yeah, good thing I got one coming. >> What is your complaint? >> Mine? >> Yep. >> We have to tell them the [ __ ] you guys are arresting me for no goddamn reason. And move my hands. >> a medical complaint. >> Yeah, that's not a medical complaint. Why are you Why are we paging an ambulance? What hurts? >> Fact that I'm going to have seizures and I've already had one. >> Okay, so the knee isn't believable enough for them, so let's move on to seizures. Great. How many other ailments is she going to come up with before this video's over? >> Patient is not responsive. Again, she is breathing and talking. She thinks that she just had a seizure, but again, is talking. Are you on any medication? Ma'am? Dispatch to 1 County. >> Jennifer. >> 95. Patient went unconscious again. >> She's now she's [ __ ] unconscious? WHAT IS THAT? WHY IS SHE UNCONSCIOUS? WHY IS SHE unconscious right now? Is she pretending? Is she faking it? Jennifer. Jennifer, are you faking it? Are you really unconscious or you just [ __ ] with them? >> Ma'am? >> Oh, okay. Thanks. >> Hi. What do you guys want to know? Jennifer is She say Okay. Witness or >> I was with her, but I don't know if I would consider it a seizure. Does anybody know her? I know other than her name. Hello. >> Jennifer, talk to the ambulance. They're here for you. >> Jennifer, you need to open your eyes and tell me what's going on, okay? >> Now that we got to see her face, she is so full of [ __ ] >> [laughter] >> The EMT is like, "Hello. Hello. Jennifer, hello. Wake up." >> [laughter] >> Totally looks like she's faking it. She could She could legitimately be passed out, but she kind of looks like a kid who's pretending to sleep in bed. You know the look I'm talking about, right? Where they're like I'm sleeping. I'm sleeping. My eyes are closed. You know what I'm talking about. Yeah, I see you moving your eyes. What's going on? >> I'm having a seizure right now. Oops. >> You're having a seizure right now? >> I Yeah, they're tremors that start in the seizures. >> Okay. Do you have a seizure history? >> Yes. >> I've never met you before. I don't need an attitude. >> I'm pissed because I'm being arrested for something I didn't do. >> She >> Yes. >> Okay. So, I wasn't aware of that until you just told me. So, I'm with the ambulance crew. I don't need an attitude. >> trying to give you an attitude. >> All right. Are you able to stand up and get to our bed? >> Well, my knee is out of place. >> What do you mean it's out of place? >> Yeah, that's your problem. >> She's going to take another ground. >> Okay. Okay. Well, we're going to get you to our bed, okay? >> different medical conditions as time goes on. >> Okay. >> So, potential >> Sounds good. Well, we have several people here to help you get to our bed, all right? So, we're just going to try to stand up and see how that goes, okay? >> Ow. >> Stand up. >> I'm trying. >> We'll get our bed right behind your butt. >> You're holding me against my will. >> And what's your name? Jennifer? >> Jennifer. >> All right. You need to not do that. >> I'm going to do it. He was holding me. >> Nobody's holding you. >> you up. >> Nobody's holding you. Lean back on the cot. >> Now, without these handcuffs in front. >> That's too bad. We need to Put your legs up there. All right. Let's sit back on the bed here. Okay. >> Yeah, please have these cuffs in the back. >> They are in back. >> They're in front. >> We're going to restrain you first with our stuff before they take the cuffs off. So, you need to get your feet up out of the way. Okay? >> Will you help me? >> Yes. >> Because this really hurts. >> Okay. We're going to spin you on the bed here. >> Yeah, please. >> I'm sorry. Are you able to sit up like you're sitting up on the floor? >> No, with the handcuffs. >> Okay, I'm going to push this head part down. >> Ow. >> All right. Are you able to sit on your bottom better? >> No, with the handcuffs on. I'm sorry. >> You can't scoot your hips just a little bit? All right, for everyone's safety, I'm going to put these on your legs, okay? She's really not super thrilled about us even touching it, so might as well look. All right. I'm going to be searching your bag. >> Why? >> Because you are under arrest. >> No, I'm not. >> Yes, you are. >> I'm going to the mental institution if I am. >> You are under arrest at this point. You need to let go of the bag. >> Why? >> Let go of the bag. >> Why? >> If there's nothing illegal inside the bag, I will give it back to you. >> Absolutely nothing. >> Absolutely. The EMS staff needs to know that there's nothing that's going to harm them. >> There's nothing in there that's going to harm them. >> Well, I'm in the business of people lying to me every single day. >> I don't lie. >> need to confirm it. >> I don't lie. >> I need to confirm it. Let go of the bag. >> Jennifer, you're under arrest and it's incident to arrest. >> Let go of the bag, please. >> It's what? >> It's search incident It's incident to arrest and you're under arrest still. >> Let go of the bag, please. >> I just told you why I was going to be searching it. >> Deputy Swanson and Newman attempt to help Jennifer, seeing as she may have been struggling due to their slightly physical altercation. >> Hi Jennifer, you need to stand up. Need to stand up. Come on. Stand up. Stand up. >> I'm trying. >> Start forward. Walk forward over to the seat. Let's walk up there. >> So then a little further? So then a little further back? >> I'm not trying to sound mean, but this is what's going on in my head right now, okay? Like I I feel LIKE I'VE HELD BACK A lot in this video. I have. I've held back a lot. What's going on in my head right now is the idea if she is struggling this much at life, why is she purposefully making situations difficult? If you are struggling to breathe, why do you have a vape in your purse? But that's okay. It's neither here nor there. Why are you putting yourself in situations that are going to exacerbate all of your pre-existing conditions? If you truly have a messed up knee, why are you putting yourself into a position where you could be thrown on the ground or rustle around or have your knee twisted? If you have seizures, why are you putting yourself in a stressful situation? If you have trouble breathing, why are you getting into physical altercations with people that are in better shape than you? And then you can barely breathe or walk to get into the police car. Why are you making your life harder? Like seriously, why are you making your life harder? Is it because you're just an angry miserable individual? Now, this whole thing started with her being at a memorial service. Is she just absolutely distraught by the person that she lost? She hasn't said one word about that. She hasn't, you know, tried to make an excuse of her being just in a really bad place because maybe she lost somebody that's important to her. I will never understand why people intentionally make situations harder on themselves, especially when they have physical limitations. I don't understand it. And I'm TRYING REALLY HARD NOT TO say everything that's on my mind. I don't know. You guys let me know. Do Do I need to hold back in certain circumstances? I don't want to get canceled. >> Oh, thanks for the help. >> Yeah, anytime. I'm sure what she was going to be like. >> Jennifer was first taken to St. Croix Health for medical clearance, after which she was [music] transported to the Polk County Jail. Jennifer was charged with a repeated offense of possession of meth amphetamine felony I, possession of THC felony I, a repeated offense of disorderly conduct misdemeanor B, and a repeated offense of resisting or obstructing an officer misdemeanor A. She was found [music] guilty of a repeated offense of resisting or obstructing an officer misdemeanor A due to a guilty [music] plea, while all other charges were dismissed but read in. Jennifer owed the court $465.60. [music] If you >> Repeat offender. Repeat offender. She had meth on her and THC. Repeat offender. Wow. In addition to all of this. Okay. So, maybe she's not just a grouchy [ __ ] Maybe she is a drugged out grouchy [ __ ] That explains a lot. So, today Jennifer managed to accomplish something quite impressive. She took a situation that could have been resolved in 15 seconds, you know, just gave the woman back her things. And instead, she stretched it out into a full-blown police investigation, resisting arrest, ambulance ride, criminal charges, and a court bill. Now, that's efficiency.
