Or we're going to we're going to take you to jail. >> No, you're not. I'm on the phone with my company sitting >> Step out of the car or we're taking you to jail. >> I'm on the phone I'm recording. >> Back up. Back up. >> Got it. >> You ever meet somebody who was so committed to being right that they're able to talk their way into handcuffs? Well, in today's body cam, we have a woman who is absolutely convinced that nobody can tell her what to do. Not the repo company, not the finance company, and definitely not the police. What starts out as a disputed vehicle repossession quickly turns into a masterclass in how to argue with people that are trying to help you, ignoring every single warning that you were given, and finding out the hard way that confidence is not the same thing as actually knowing the law. >> On December 12th, 2024, officers were dispatched to a home where a vehicle was being repossessed. >> No, this is a mistake on their >> No, this is a mistake on their end. >> I'm calling the police right now. >> Okay. >> This is a mistake. >> Hey. >> Yes. >> Hey. >> Can you stop yelling at me? >> I'm calling the police right now. >> Ma'am, stop yelling. Relax. Relax. >> This is a mistake. >> Ma'am, listen to me. Listen to me. For safety reasons, can you step out of the car? >> not I'm not doing Sir, CLOSE MY DOOR. SIR, BACK UP AND DO NOT TOUCH my door. >> YOU CAN GET OUT. TALK WITH THE OFFICER. >> NO, I'M NOT DOING THAT. SHE'S NOT DOING THAT. >> She is not She is not going >> Do you think I'm stupid? I'm not getting out of MY PROPERTY THAT I PAID FOR. NO. >> He is not going anywhere. >> I'm not doing that. >> My car is in front of his. My car is in front of his. This car is jacked up right now. >> I'm not doing that. >> For safety >> No. >> I'm not having an argument with all of you guys. Relax. >> I'm not having an argument with none of you. >> Your car is jacked up right now. >> I don't care. And I'm sitting I'm sitting pretty. >> Yes, he called the police. >> THEY GOT THE POLICE. >> [laughter] >> SHE SAID, "I'M SITTING PRETTY." You guys remember that show Operation Repo? Man, is that still showing anywhere? >> [laughter] >> Let me know down in the comments. Is Operation Repo anywhere? I've seen like random floating episodes of South Beach Tow, but Operation Repo, I don't know if that's streaming anywhere. God, I haven't seen that show in a really long time. I used to love that show and I feel like I'm watching it right now. It's so funny how everyone who has their car repossessed seems to think that it's a big mistake and that they think that they could just sit in their vehicle and prevent it from being taken. Nope, they're going to take it regardless. They'll just call the police to drag your ass out first. >> Was anyone in the vehicle when you jacked it? >> Nobody was in the vehicle when you put it up. >> You don't have to call like this. They tell how to get out the car like this. >> We'll look up We'll look up the law. >> Again? >> We'll look up it again and if we're going to if we're going to do that, then we're going to we're going to handle it like that. >> So, where'd you go? Sorry. Who Do you have it again? Was anybody in the vehicle? >> Nobody in >> So, she So, chick was in it now, too. She jumped in when you already you already >> She didn't have to call when I pulled up, too. So, you might start rolling my way, please. We're done for. >> So, she jumped in as soon as it was up. Okay. >> She jumped in right here. >> Yeah, she jumped She probably did it when it went up. Okay. >> Yeah, she jumped in. >> Yeah. You see her climb in it as it's already up like this. >> Go Go and double-check. >> Yes, sir. Yes, ma'am. >> Did you call me, sir? >> So, if I remember from that show, yeah, if somebody is in a vehicle, they cannot like lift it and prepare it to tow if somebody's in there and they definitely cannot drive with the vehicle being towed if someone is inside of it. So, that's why most people, in my opinion, I think that's why most people that are about ready to get their car repossessed or towed, they automatically jump in it because they're like, "If I jump in it, they can't take it." Except for the fact that I'm pretty sure that if the tow company has paperwork to prove that they are allowed to take the vehicle that uh police can just drag your ass out and let the tow company do what they need to do. I don't know. We're about ready to find out right now what's about to happen to her cuz she jumped into that thing after they had already lifted it up. She's just trying to prevent them from taking it. But we're about ready to find out if they actually have papers to take that vehicle and if she's going to have her ass dragged out of that car. >> He's on the phone with her talking to neighbors. They mistake I tried to explain that to him but nobody listen. >> She locked herself in? >> No, he could open he could >> Will you talk to us? >> No. >> No. >> No, you can get the >> hear you. I'm not going to talk to you. Roll down the window. >> You trying to open the door and let me >> Roll down the window. >> Angel. >> If you want to figure out the situation, you're going to have a conversation with me. >> She's not going to talk to >> No, no, you stop. We're not talking to either one of you. I don't I don't care. Is she an adult? >> That's my daughter. >> adult? >> That's my daughter. THAT'S MY DAUGHTER. >> ARE YOU GOING TO have a conversation WITH ME? >> I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO talk to you. >> Are you going to have a conversation with me? I don't want to remove you from the car. If you don't want to remove from this car the door you don't have to remove from the car. I've already talked to you. >> All right. >> Okay. >> All right. >> I'll step back so that you know that I'm not going to remove from the car. So, he he told me his side of story. Break it down from the beginning what had occurred here. >> My Okay, basically I I heard the the I heard the people pull. I came out and >> Hold on a moment. You're the registered owner of this car, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. And and it is it is under a loan or lease? >> It's closed on to >> It's closed No, no, no. It's not. It's under What's it called? >> A loan or lease? >> Why? Why does that matter? You asking me my side of story. >> Because this is a financial situation. I'm trying to >> You're asking me my side of story. So don't stop me IN THE MIDDLE OF MY TELLING ME MR. My story and asking me questions. >> I need to get a complete understanding. >> talking. Then you can ask questions. >> I'm asking because I'm trying to get the other side. >> to let me finish talking. You just asked me what's my side of the story. >> You're going to make this whole situation worse. >> No, I'M NOT. YOU CAME TO MY DOOR to ask me what's my side of the story. >> The police were called. I didn't randomly come here. >> Okay. And this is my property. >> I'm trying to get THIS SOLVED. >> SO, I'M TRYING to talk to you. Did you not ask me >> Can we just let her talk? >> what's my side of the story? Didn't you? >> Go ahead. >> Okay. Like I said, I came out here, came to my car. My company knows that they defer the deferral payment for October because of the hurricane that happened. Because we were OUT OF WORK. CLEARLY SOME [ __ ] DIDN'T DO THAT. SO, it made it seem like it's off with my payment. And my payment is only uh 60 days, not even. Not even. So, I'm not even behind a lot. I'm not even behind a lot. They just told me pay one month. That's fine. I wish somebody could HAVE CALLED ME AND TOLD ME AND TEXT ME INSTEAD of doing that. This is embarrassing. I don't do this [ __ ] I pay my BILLS LIKE A GROWN ass woman. Everybody >> You're making this embarrassing. Honestly and truly, you are the one making this embarrassing. Yes, I have never personally had a car repossessed. I've never had my car towed even. I And I can understand how this would be embarrassing. I would be embarrassed because it looks like to everyone around that you don't pay your bills. And if you do in fact pay your bills, then it is embarrassing because it is implied that you don't have money or you don't take care of business or whatever. I understand that. But if that is the case, if the finance company screwed up, then you need to handle it after the fact. You need to get them to give you the car back. You need to get them to pay for the tow. You need to get them to make the situation right. Now is not the time to have court, right? You jumping in this vehicle and making an ass out of yourself is not making the situation any better. You are the one that is escalating the embarrassment. How does she not see this? And does she actually think that sitting in this car after the police have been called on her, does she actually think that that is going to just like all go away? It's just so going to go away. It's all going to go away. Obviously, if the tow company is there, they have some form of paperwork to repossess the vehicle via the financing company, dealership, wherever. They're just trying to do their job. The police are being called because of your behavior and they're just trying to do their job. It sounds like if this all is legit, it sounds like it's just one big misunderstanding and nobody involved in this repossession can fix it. Only the finance company can fix it. And if she is so used to handling business and paying her bills, she should know that. >> You're not going to come to my property and embarrass me on some false accusations. >> Complete disrespect. Complete disrespect. >> waiting on them? They on the >> Yeah, she got me on THE HOLD BECAUSE THEY KNOW THEY'RE WRONG. THEY WENT BACK TO October looking at the car. That's crazy. >> So >> McGrath, are you going to play with me and my my money? They're going to call my mom. >> So did anybody notify you that they were coming? >> No. NO, THAT'S WHAT >> THAT'S WHAT I'M PISSED OFF ABOUT. >> So this morning, did you hear him coming or did he knock on the door? >> room. >> Okay. Did he >> Then I heard him. >> Did he knock on the door or anything? >> do [ __ ] >> So you heard the Will you stop? Let me talk to her. So you heard the tow truck coming. >> Yep. >> And then what happened? >> I came and got in my mother's >> Okay. So where did you see the tow truck? >> Right where it's at. >> So it had It was already in your yard and it already had the car. Where So >> It was on the ground then before I jumped in. It was on the ground. He did not put it in before. I heard the truck. That's how I knew. I raced to here to sit in here. Now he already he steady lifted He steady put the thing on it and lifted it while I was in here. >> So while you were >> supposed to do that. That's illegal. I know cuz I watched tow companies. >> So it was >> Facts. We we I know, baby. I know game. >> So, so again, so it was on the >> I know exactly what she means. I have learned everything that I know from watching reality TV, too. >> [laughter] >> I'm telling you, Operation Repo, that was a good show. I need to find that. I need a rewatch. It's been a while. >> on the car, and then as you sat in there >> No, it was not. It was on the ground. >> That's why he hit you. >> His questions get you this >> Yeah, come on, bro. >> I'm sorry, now. >> And right now you're on the phone with your >> I'm on the phone with the company right now. >> Okay. Let me know what they say, and then if there is anything, make sure that they give you an email with a printout of anything that they say. All right? And I'll come back and talk to you in a second. You're welcome. >> You know, I have to wonder if all of this drama could have been avoided by just talking to the tow truck driver. Like, when she noticed that he was backing up to hook up her vehicle, maybe she could have just walked over to him and been like, "Sir, I don't want to stop you from doing your job, but if you'll just wait a moment, I think that there's been a misunderstanding, and I need to call the finance company." Because, you know, she could tell she could tell him whatever. "They told me that they were going to allow a deferred payment because of a hurricane. They told me that I had a little bit extra time. Nobody contacted me to let me know that there was any sort of a problem. I think there's been a miscommunication. I need to call my finance company." Now, if she did all of that, and then he was basically like, "Fuck you. I'm taking the car. I got the paperwork. I got [ __ ] to do. I am not going to wait around here all day." Then I could understand her jumping in the vehicle to try to prevent it. But, maybe I'm just a rule follower, but it doesn't really sound like that's the right way to handle the situation, especially if you're worried about being embarrassed in front of your neighbors. But, I would tend to suspect that a tow truck driver, if you come at them in a very professional way and in a very calm way. I would think that they are just used to dealing with people that are angry cuz nobody likes getting their car towed. So, maybe if you came at them from a place of kindness and calm attitude and said, "Sir, I really I understand you're trying to do your job. I think there's been a misunderstanding. I'm on the phone with the finance company right now. Maybe this all could be ending differently and the police wouldn't have had to be called." I don't know. I don't know. Maybe I just don't know how these things go because I've never had a car repossessed. I don't know. >> We're going to have to We're going to We're going to give her warning. Okay. To get out of the car and then if she doesn't >> All right. Dispatcher 2822104. >> doesn't take our commands and we're going to have to take her out. Okay. Use force as possible, but got you. >> You see the door open. She runs out. It's already up. She hops in. >> [snorts] >> She lied. Oh, no. Who didn't see that one coming? She said, "Oh, yeah. He lifted it with me in it. That's illegal." Uh video shows that it was already up when you ran out and jumped inside. So, your ass is about ready to be dragged out and I can't wait to see it. >> Um yeah, we're just going to be fighting. >> I don't know what >> I'm done. >> I'm going to put her out Look, she got in like that. She can get out like that. >> I told you my procedure. >> Ready? >> Yep. >> Don't pull on my arm all the way down. What are you doing? >> Okay. So, I'm telling you right now >> I'm on the phone No, I'm on the phone with the >> I talked to my watch commander. >> I'm on the phone with >> I'm telling you right now. Listen. >> Listen. >> Listen. >> Listen. >> Per Florida statute, once the tow truck has lifted the car, the car is physically in their possession. They own the car. >> Step out of the car or we're going to we're going to take you to jail. >> No, you're not. I'm on the phone with my company since >> Step out of the car or we're taking you to jail. >> I'm on the phone with my company >> I'm giving you a lawful order. Step out of the car. Step out of the car or we're taking you to jail. >> That's fine. >> in the car, he can lift it up. >> Yes. She would No, he already has it on video that she wasn't in the car. He already had it up. He's got it all recorded. He's got a video camera in the back. He showed us the camera. The car was lifted. Come on. >> For your what? >> I'm giving you >> For what? One chance. >> The look on their face says, "Oh, [ __ ] He's got a camera on the back of that thing." >> [laughter] >> THEY'RE PROBABLY THINKING, "OH, WE COULD JUST SAY that when she got in and it wasn't lifted yet. Therefore, he didn't already have possession of it." There is the camera because I'm sure that this kind of thing happens a lot. >> For one chance. >> Step out of the car or we're taking you to jail. >> I have a right to know. No, you're not going to bully me like I have a right to know. >> Step out of the car. >> I have a right to know. >> Don't get involved. She She's got to get out OF THE CAR NOW. YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. YOU'RE UNDER ARREST. You're under arrest. You're under arrest. >> Everybody Everybody stay back. >> You're under arrest. You're under arrest. You're under arrest. You're under arrest. Give me that way. >> Go over that way. Relax. >> Relax. Relax. >> Get out of the Ma'am, Ma'am, get out of the way, please. Please. Please. >> EVERYBODY BACK UP. >> GET BACK. Back up. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Don't talk to me. >> Just stay back. Just stay back right now until >> No, don't talk to >> Stay back, Ma'am. EVERYBODY HEY! EVERYBODY BACK AWAY FROM MY OFFICERS, PLEASE. I'M at No, it's too late now. >> Relax. >> Relax. You wait 2 seconds and I will talk to you. >> Stop. Stop. I need to breathe. >> Can I take a breather? Let's go over here. >> Stop. >> Relax. I know I know I got it. Stay over there. Stay over there. Stay over there. Stay over there. Yeah, absolutely. Stay in your driveway. >> Now the damn neighbors are trying to get involved. There's that one guy, he is so convinced that the officers just this whole thing up. HE'S LIKE, "NO, Y'ALL DID THIS WRONG. I'M RECORDING YOU. We're going to go viral and show everybody how you pulled an innocent woman from a vehicle." Come on, man. And now the neighbors are coming out. OH MY GOD, someone else is going to end up getting arrested if they don't back up. >> Clearly, stay in your driveway. >> You didn't even tell me why you're arresting me. >> I'm going to tell you in 2 seconds. >> NO, YOU'RE NOT. THAT'S COOL. I'M GOING TO SUE Y'ALL. >> OKAY, that's fine. Listen. We gave a lawful order. >> You didn't even read me off my rights, you stupid pig. I'm in a public place. You are a public servant. >> Get out of the roadway. >> You have I can stand in the roadway BECAUSE THIS IS A PUBLIC PLACE. >> You can't be in the middle of the road. They didn't put the car down when they arrested her. >> Just get yourself to where we can move you out of the way. >> You got to be kidding me, bro. >> She was on the phone with the company called their their arrow. >> They were going to pay. They were on it. What the sick [ __ ] >> Yep, I know. >> That's an improper detainment right there. >> Are you done? THAT'S OUR LAST VIDEO THING. >> I WILL. RELAX. >> OH, YEAH, that sounds like a really good idea. Let's spit in the officer's face and add an additional charge. As if this isn't embarrassing enough for you. >> Don't touch MY OFFICERS. I SAID how many times to back Back up. Back You're not involved in this. Please step back. >> He said, "But I can watch." >> [laughter] >> YEAH, YOU CAN WATCH FROM THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STREET. >> Get off of me. You're dead. Y'all know who my daddy is, but I got something for y'all. I got something for you [ __ ] >> YEP. WE ALL CAN >> AS LONG AS YOU'RE NOT INVOLVING MY OFFICERS, I DON'T CARE WHERE YOU ARE. SIR, you can say WHATEVER YOU WANT. NO, YOU CAN STAND OVER THERE. WHEN I AM ENFORCING THE LAW, YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO ENFORCE the law on me. Back up. >> Yes, we do. >> If you keep up with me, sir, if you KEEP GOING, I SWEAR BACK UP. I YOU DO. OVER THERE. >> I didn't do anything for y'all to arrest me. Okay, Sigmund, I didn't do anything to y'all. Y'all just didn't want ME TO HAVE MY CAR, YOU SICK [ __ ] >> That's right. They just arrested you because they're just a bunch of sick [ __ ] that don't want you to have your car. It's exactly why they arrested you. Like they don't have anything better to do with their time. >> When are my officers at jeopardy? Yes, I will escalate until they calm down. She started grabbing my officer. I'm sorry. >> Hey, let's go. I'm I'm going to station with him. >> Let him leave. >> They treat her bad, man. >> Who? >> You didn't GET TO SEE THAT PART. JEEZ. JEEZ. JEEZ. OFFICER, THEY'RE THEY'RE COMING. They're coming. Don't worry. >> Who's coming? >> That's all I was TRYING TO DO WAS GET my car out of my hand. >> I think us. Listen, she's not hurt. She's not hurt. Do that right. But you Listen, this this is what should have happened. I'm going to tell you what should have happened. I'm going to tell you what's going to happen. I know. Listen to me. Now, listen. Listen to what I'm going to tell you. This is what should have happened. She should have got out of the vehicle. My officers are my priority. >> I'm saying, man-to-man, you didn't handle that situation right, man. I'm being >> You can say it however you want. I handled it legally. WELL, I'M TELLING you I handled it legally, bro. Everything is on camera. You can see what happened. I'm not arguing anymore. You're not involved in it. I'm not arguing anymore about it. Okay. All right. I'm out. >> When I seen that girl I was in danger just being, bro. >> She wasn't. That's what I seen. She's okay. >> Yeah, I know she's okay now. >> She's been okay. Have a good day. >> Y'ALL ARE GOING TO JAIL. YOU DIDN'T EVEN READ ME MY Miranda rights. I promise you I'll let go. Promise you I'll get going. Watch. Y'all ain't got Y'all got Y'all a quarter zone? Cuz I'm going to fool it up. You fool it up. You didn't read me my Miranda rights. [ __ ] get ready to let me go. [ __ ] you know it. You didn't read me my Miranda rights. You're so >> Calling them dummies for not reading their Miranda rights. THEY DIDN'T EVEN TALK to her. They just pulled her out because she was violating trespass. I love the little the little bit about the last the car was seen it was listed for sale IN OKLAHOMA. >> [laughter] >> WELL, ME THINKS that she didn't make that car payment and that the car repossession was totally valid.
