watch. Whoa, whoa, >> whoa, whoa. >> Please let me call somebody. Please >> put your foot inside. I'm begging you. I'm going to get sprayed. >> These are children who cannot care for [music] themselves, confined behind closed doors, and faced with complicated explanations from adults. >> He went in the back and got him cuz my daughter was actually about to start fighting him. >> Call it out online, sir. Watch your head, please. >> I raised my sons not to be. And when the authorities arrive, they not only opened the house door, but also revealed truths that adults often hesitate to face. A minor traffic incident was already serious. But what was more surprising was the mother's reaction the moment the vehicle came to a stop. >> Alcohol and that's that's the reason she crashed. >> On September 5th, 2025, police received a call about a traffic incident at an intersection. According to reports, a car had made contact with a yellow school bus. Fortunately, the bus had only the driver and no students. While the car carried an 11-year-old girl, police quickly arrived at the scene [music] and noticed that the mother was behaving unusually. >> Hey, you okay? >> What happened? Let me go on your side. Okay. >> What happened? >> Hi. Um, I was crossing over and >> you're coming on this road. You were crossing this. You were going to go in here? >> Yes. Okay. What color was your light? >> Green. >> Did you already give someone your driver's license and stuff or no? Okay. Um, >> all right. Give me Give me one second. Okay. >> Which Do you guys see what happened? >> So, I was right behind her. We're coming. There's a bunch of cars. Everyone's going like really slow and they're all like trying to get around her and she's like keeps kind of swerving lanes. And then I was like, "Man, is there I literally at one point was like, is this a kid driving?" Because this was like ridiculous. And then all of a sudden like I'm coming up. I live in here. So I'm trying to turn in here, but I'm waiting. >> Which lane was she in? >> This one and this one. She was like, "Yeah." And then the cars kept trying to go around her. And then by the time we got here, I was the last one behind her while I have to turn. So I'm just waiting for her to get out of the way. She comes into this lane like she's like, "Oh shit." Like I don't need to go here. Like she needs going to go straight. So I was like, "Oh, cool. Maybe she's going to go that way and go that way, whatever." But she came up this way and then she just turned left like a sharp left and tried to like gun it. But he was already halfway through. She t-boned into half of him. He was He was already halfway through the intersection. So then I go up. I'm like, "Are you okay?" I mean, she's definitely on something. Whatever. That's not my business. But she was all over the road. Is there like a child driving this car right now? Like I almost was like it was a kid. That's all right. >> Hello. >> Hi. >> Thank you. Are you okay? You know where you are. Okay. I'll be back. Okay. Stay over here. You guys know that, right? >> You guys don't have to stick around. So, so I want to make sure I was behind her. I went home, the car park, came back. Do you need me or >> did you see anything? >> Yes, the whole thing over here. What is your >> uh Yeah, I'm going have you >> basically swerving all over the road from what I'm getting from the witness. Bus is going southbound and she made a sharp turn. >> She was going very, very, very slow. I'm talking like school zone in type slow. So people were starting over pass her right on the right. >> What lane was she in? >> She was in the left. >> That lane. >> Mhm. >> So then this lady turned right to get into the turn lane. So she was good and she was kind of still pacing her and it looked like she realized, oh wait a minute, I'm in the wrong lane and she tried to turn. I don't think she ever saw the bus. She could not have seen that bus. The bus couldn't do any. I thought maybe she was going to stop in the middle. She didn't stop at all. And then just talk to the boy drivers. >> And where do you live? >> Fine. Yes. >> What city? >> I'm in one week. >> Okay. All right. Sit down. I'm going to have the paramedic check in you. Okay. Do you remember what happened at all? >> Yes. >> So what happened? >> Uh I had an accident. >> Yeah. How did that happen? >> I crossed over. >> Okay. Why Why did you cross over? You want to go to the hospital? >> All right. What's your full name? >> Okay. All right. Sit tight. Okay. >> Although the mother insisted she [music] was completely fine. Inconsistencies in her statements caught the police's attention. >> Okay. >> All right. Sit tight. Okay. We're going to talk to the paramedics, see if they can clear her, and then we'll go from there. Hey, how you doing? >> She seems like she's impaired, but I just want to make sure you guys clear her first. She >> So, the daughter was in the car. in the car. So, she basically was coming at a at a slow speed and she make a sharp turn and see then hit the side of the bus here. >> Is anybody in the bus? >> No, just the driver. So, it saves a lot. >> This is her. >> Yeah, >> she's fine. They're just taking on her. We're going to have you step out for a minute because your airbags are deployed here. Okay. >> Do whatever you want. >> Okay. Just hold it for a second. I'm going to let the paramedics check on you. >> Hey, right here. >> Hey, how's it going, man? >> Just got to check on you as well. What's that? >> Right now, we're just checking her out, making sure she's okay from the accident. Are you all right? Nothing's you. >> No. Okay. Any medical problems? >> No. I just >> Okay, we're checking her out. She's okay right now. >> Do you take any medications? Describe >> I do. I have blood pressure. >> Do you take blood pressure medications? Anything else? >> Two two blood pressure. >> Anything else? Recreational or two? Just a two blood pressure. Oh yeah, >> ma'am. >> Can you step out for a second because we got to tow your car. Okay, >> I'll help you. >> Go ahead and I'll hold it for you. >> All right, let's walk back this way. Okay, sit right here. You can sit right here. Nothing hurting you. >> No, no leg injuries. Did it hit your head? >> I don't see any vis injuries. I'm just making sure you're fine. Okay, >> I'll be fine. >> Okay, >> your daughter is getting checked up right now. Okay, so she's she's in good hands. Okay, >> let's walk over here around the car so we can so people don't hit you. So we protect you from >> Can you guide me? Can you guide me? >> Can I guide you? Sure. Okay. >> I can What's right here? Right here is fine. Okay. >> Hey, what's your phone name, please? >> Now I'm moving on to I have suspicion that you've been you're under the influence of something. So now I'm under a DUI investigation. Okay. I have to I have to let you know. >> So sorry. It's >> all right. Take your time. So sorry. >> What are you sorry you for? >> Talk to me most. >> I >> Did you take anything? >> No. >> What? Cuz I can tell, ma'am. We can tell that. >> No. No, I haven't. >> When was the last time you had a drink? >> I haven't taken anything. >> All right. What? Al. I'm talking about alcohol. >> No, I haven't taken anything. But you haven't been able to tell me what your address is. >> My address? I >> Are you injured anywhere? You need are you able to answer that or you >> No, I'm not injured anywhere and I am so sorry. I am sorry I >> I just want to know Megan if you were taking anything or drinking anything. When was the last time you had a drink? >> Like 4 days ago. Where were you? >> I have not. >> I was picking up my kid and I have not had so prescription medication. >> Yes. For high blood pressure and >> that's it. Yes, I am so sorry. >> The reason we were asking you those questions, ma'am, >> I understand. >> You've given us all the indicating that you are under the layer of >> Not only you acting very you're driving your driving patterns when you were driving all over the world according to two people that saw you driving and you crashed into the bus. >> Not only that, I'm just observing you right now. You are extremely touched. You look like you're about to fall asleep. >> I understand. Slow to react your pupil or your eye. >> I understand. >> Okay. >> You're slow in your words. >> That's why I'm asking you all the questions. I don't know. Is your alcohol? >> I don't. >> Do you drink at all? >> No. >> You never drink at all? >> No. >> Really? >> Yes. >> I thought you said you drank something 4 days ago. >> That was like No. >> So, what did you have to drink? >> This was weeks ago. >> Okay. What What was it? >> I am telling you, I don't drink currently. Okay. >> And I have been >> Take your time. It's okay. We just want to make sure you're okay. And your pupils are extremely pimp. So you didn't hit your head at all today, right in the crash. Do you mind if we look to see if you have any bumps and everything? >> Okay. You can go ahead and look. Look behind us. Do you know Do you know what today's date is? >> September 4th. >> You know what year it is? >> 2025. >> Who's the president? >> Four. >> Oh, >> yeah. See, you're you're you're not even you're having a hard time even answering simple questions. >> Who's the president? >> Not Trump. >> All right. >> That was a joke. >> Well, this really is a kind of a joking matter cuz three questions. Okay. >> I'll grab it. >> The situation grew more complicated as misunderstandings arose between the [music] police and the mother during the information exchange. I mean, we we are doing a DUI on there, but I don't know what what she does. >> Yeah. I mean, she's refusing. >> I didn't refuse. I asked I asked you if you were okay and if you needed medical treatment. You said you you were okay. You're not. >> Either way, we got to take her to the hospital. >> You didn't refuse, >> man. I stated that you said that you were not. You told us you have no injuries. >> Are you >> What? >> I didn't refuse. >> Okay. Did you listen to questions? Are you injured? Are you >> No. So that's basically what he's stating right now that you >> No, but he just said, "Are you injured?" I didn't refuse. >> No. Okay. >> Saying that you said you are not >> right. Are you injured? >> No. >> Okay. >> Right. That's that's what we >> That's what that's what he's asking. Do you need to go to the hospital? >> No. >> That's what That's what we established already. So then we establishing your mental state. So we're asking you questions. >> What's wrong? >> Talk to me. All they're doing is they just want to make sure you're fine. >> You want to be medically assessed. >> Please stay here cuz there was traffic coming. >> I said either way, we have to take her. >> Yeah, she she's under the so she has no choice. She's going to go to the hospital. >> This kind of seems collaborated. >> Collaborated? What are you talking about? A mommy? Like really? >> I'm not understanding what you're saying. >> I'm trying to help you. I'm trying to find out what is what's going on. All they want to do is they just want to make sure you're medically okay and I'm just trying to find out. >> He said she doesn't want to go. So just ask her would she say anything? >> Would she be willing to do something just regarding the exercise to go because you believe you would like to see? >> After initially agreeing to a safety check. The mother suddenly changed her attitude becoming uncooperative despite police [music] instructions. As a result the check was not carried out and was handled according to standard procedures. Would you be willing to do a field sobriety uh exercise >> cuz we believe that you under the influence of Would you be willing to do some exercise here? >> Ma'am, come over here real quick. Do you wear glasses? >> I have contacts. >> You have contacts now. >> We're not going to do it here. >> Yes, we are. >> No. >> You don't want to do it? >> No. >> Where would you like to do it? >> Where's the straight line? >> Well, don't worry about that. We'll get to that. >> No. Like, where's the straight line? >> We have We have a tape. We're going to put a tape on the ground for the straight line. Okay, you got to you got to hold on. Where you going? Come over here. >> No. Straight line. Let's go. >> That's the next step. >> Straight line. Let's go. >> Watch your waver here, please. >> Oh. Oh my god. >> Let's move over here. Let's move over here. Move my car. Can you take my car and move over here? Back >> in here. Stop, bro. Straight line. Hold on. Hold on. >> Oh my god. STRAIGHT line straight. >> We're done. We're done. >> Line straight. Where the [ __ ] is the street? >> Okay, relax. RELAX. >> NO. You Where the [ __ ] is >> street? WHERE the is the street life? No. [ __ ] you. >> Oh, you want to fill me up? You want to fill me up? >> Have a seat, man. Oh no. >> Oh god. >> Have a seat. Have a seat. Come on, >> Megan. >> Have a seat. >> Just have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Have a seat. >> Why? >> You're going to hurt yourself. Have a seat. Why? >> Just stop resisting. Just You're going to hurt yourself. >> Why? >> Got it. >> Yeah. >> Call it out online. >> Watch your head, please. >> Signal one. Her partner was informed [snorts and music] of the situation and the mother's inappropriate actions. >> Is that the dad? That's the boyfriend. >> That's the boyfriend. >> That's her boyfriend. Okay. >> I'll get the dad and come get her. >> Just explain to him why daddy she's under arrest. >> She said he wants to talk. >> So you need to speak to me, sir. She stay right here. Stay right here. >> Alcohol and that's that's the reason she crashed. She's intoxicated. Okay. But can I I'm just letting you know. Just just be mindful, please. >> No, no, no. She's going to the hospital now. >> No, I know. Just be mindful, please. That what she was just told this morning. That's it. >> You saw the way she's acting. We not We didn't do anything, but I understand what you're telling me, too. So, I I'm not I'm not disagreeing with anything you guys are doing. >> All right. Where's the little kid? >> She's still in there. >> Okay. We have their parents coming to pick him up. He's in Delaware. >> Delaware. >> We don't want We don't want to call child services. So, if you have a parent that can come pick the kid up, >> hey, did you make contact with anybody? >> I thought Delaware. >> Delaware. Yeah, he's in Delaware trying to get there's a grandfather I think about grandfather lives in >> Hey sir, are we able to get Melanie or Melody here? >> The the family he lives in Delaware. She's kind of >> I'm going to call my EMS captain and see cuz if there's no adult then she's going to have to go because the mom can't make a decision. No, cuz the dad's saying obviously he's not here. So he >> Anybody coming? >> Yeah, he's going to get Melody with you. I'm not doing anything. >> I was just telling you I >> um >> just so you know, ma'am, just just got just so you know. Just got I got to inform you this. Okay. We're trying to have you do this exercise. >> I justing told you refused to cooperate and not >> I didn't refuse to behave. I literally just told you. >> Okay, right now you're under arrest for for DUI. Okay, put your feet inside. >> I'm You're BOTH OF YOU. BOTH OF YOU. I literally told you. I SHARED WITH BOTH OF YOU. I told you. I shared with you. You actually can't go back. We got to go get her and try to see if she can provide backing up. All right, you got it. Yeah, they said her phone like it, but I don't see her phone. So, >> we're going to the back so we can see if she wants to be a friend. >> All right, sounds good. Yes, sir. I'll make sure she get she Melanie's coming, so she will be at Bethesda. I'll go with you guys and then I'll stay with her. >> Do you need us to do vitals on her before you go or >> She's She keep taking cooperating. >> We'll take We're going to take her to the hospital. >> Yeah. The daughter said she did not pass out. So, >> we're heading home. All right. Appreciate it. All right. Thanks. >> Yeah, you're good. Thank you. The mother is charged with DUI involving a crash with property damage, DUI with a person [music] under 18 in the vehicle, and willfully refusing to sign and accepted traffic summits. Under Florida law, she could face up to 2 years in prison and a $3,000 fine. The line between being a responsible parent [music] and making the wrong choices can be very thin. Adults should always think carefully, stay alert, and prioritize [music] safety before getting behind the wheel. Please don't take my kids. I've already have to deal with this. Please, please. I'll get somebody to come get them. >> This mother had the entire neighborhood concerned as her house emitted unusual noises for several days without any adults around. On the morning of February 3rd, 2024, police conducted a welfare check after receiving reports about a situation from the previous week. Upon arrival, officers gathered additional information from neighbors who mentioned hearing strange noises from the house, but seeing no adults present. The sounds became clearer as police approached while attempts to knock went unanswered. >> Sheriff's office. Sheriff's office. They're definitely in there. I hear the baby crying. I haven't heard a person yet. They got about one more minute or I'm coming in. Sheriff's office. >> Be advised. I'm getting negative contact at the door, but I do hear a juvenile crying. 10 4. If I can't make contact with an adult at some point, I'm going to make entrance. >> We need to make sure you're okay. Hey, if we don't speak to somebody, we're coming in. >> I don't hear anything bad other than the baby crying. So, at this point, I doubt the baby's home alone, but that's what that's my premise I'm going on cuz I can't. >> Yeah. >> I thought I did at one point, but why don't you go to the door? And I heard the juvenile crying before I even knocked. But at this point, I need to talk to an adult. But legally, if I think the kids unattended, we can go in there. My biggest concern from the get-go, which is what I told the original, was just the ongoing domestic. I did see the the uh old or whatever, but I kind of believe her story that the kid just fell, but also was that because they were fighting. So, I mean, it's and this is a big common occurrence because might be the first time we've been out here, but supposedly hadn't found we've been out there three or four times. The neighbor who's right there who I put my statement in my report, she says that it goes on a lot. All right, so I've got defects out here for a domestic I responded to last week. There is some type of right there outside. I'm going to let you look at that in a minute, but biggest right now, I've got a baby crying inside. No one's coming to the door. I don't hear any adults or anything like that. >> Concerned for the children's safety, police entered the home and found two young children in cribs placed in potentially unsafe positions. What drew attention was the mother's explanation, which did not fully align with the situation. >> Sheriff's office. Sheriff's office. SHERIFF'S OFFICE. MAKE YOURSELF KNOWN. He's alive. >> What's up? >> You good? It's >> okay, buddy. You a boy or a girl? I don't know. >> This is a girl. >> Okay. Well, I got a car seat for a baby. We can go ahead. We just going to have to go ahead and let me >> So the baby was sleep that I didn't even see that one. >> She was asleep. Yeah. >> Oh my gosh. >> I We had to check on her. Make sure she >> Yeah. So, I'm going to put myself >> Oh my gosh. What the hell? >> So, we came out here to do a followup. I tried to make contact and we found >> My phone's off. I don't have no phone. I was going over here to see if I can get somebody contact our sister cuz I don't even have no phone. >> Hang tight. I'm going to get the rest of the story cuz right now we got to make a step back right here. >> Are y'all taking my kids? We don't know yet right now. No. >> I just I had just walked over there. I'm so sorry. I had just walked over there cuz I I'm trying to get a ride and stuff and I don't have no phone. >> How old is this baby right here? >> She's one. Please don't take my kids. I've already have to deal with this. Please. I'll get somebody to come and get them. >> Who do you Who do you have? >> My They're your grandma. >> What's the grandmother's name? >> Terry. Do you still want or not? >> Are y'all really going to take my kid? Oh my What's your name? Britney. All right, Britney. I'm going to be >> I've already had to deal deal with defects. They they already know I'm out here with my kids and stuff like that. My case was closed. It was closed a couple months, but not with these two, my other children. I had just moved out here not too long ago. I had literally just walked over me and their father. >> Let me ask you this, and I'm not going to get you to incriminate yourself. This for the wellbeing of the children. First off, a lot of people get scared when they hear defects cuz they think defects is the one who could take children. They can't. It has to be law enforcement, doctor, or judge order. Okay. With that being said, while we were doing a check of the residents, we heard the juveniles, but no adult in plain view, there's residual. >> Oh, that's not mine. I don't know. >> Well, I'm just saying, but it's still in plain view in the open. The plane view doctrine. So, that being said, just think if one of these children could walk, they touch that and has them, they're for that 15, 20 minutes you say you went over there, they'd be that's where we're at. What was your previous defects case for? >> They was when my with their father and my son had walked out while being with his father. >> Different father or same father? Give her mother. >> What up, man? >> She can sleep. >> This one was passed on the couch with the two bottles. >> This one was in a jumper seat in the middle of the living room with the TV the television up all the way. >> In fact, the time that had passed since police first [music] knocked was longer than what the mother had stated, and she had left the house earlier. This discrepancy made the situation serious and held the mother legally accountable. >> She ended up she was across the street or whatever. She's saying 15, 20 minutes. I've been here for 25 minutes. Yeah, that's can't leave those babies unattended like that. >> Especially with this one holding the bottle on the couch. That's aspiration right there all day. Yeah, I was falling up for it. >> Hello. How we doing? We just want to see if you can just evaluate the children they were left unattended. Um for we'll say an hour, but I don't know if that's She was asleep. >> This one's one. >> Yes. >> She was asleep sitting upright with two bottles on her lap. >> Outside or inside? >> Inside. No outside exposure then? >> No, not until we brought them out. >> Okay. Hi, sweetheart. I thought we supposed to allow people to come in. >> Law enforcement came. Law enforcement will stop her. Unhealthy stay. >> Okay. Your name is going to get you. She will. But you know people in Burke County. Don't go ahead and make it work. All right. Go ahead and turn over whatever par you going to turn over to her. So she >> going to put the phone in the back. What about the bottles? >> Put the bottles there in the back. She's going to get that squirted away. >> Okay. >> Ma'am, go ahead. Place your hands behind your back. >> Am I going to jail? >> I'll explain everything in a minute. Okay. >> Oh, please don't take me to jail. I'm not going to jail, am I? >> I'll explain everything in a minute. Okay. >> All right. Just stop right here for me. Okay. >> Is it just tampons? What's all this right here? >> Change and a few dollars and the number to the owner here. >> Okay. >> Am I going to jail? Yes, ma'am. >> Can I tell somebody that I'm going to jail? >> I'm going to jail. Christina, please. I'm going to jail for bringing stuff. >> You got a bag for this stuff? >> I do. >> Okay. All right. I'm going to read you something. Okay. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand each of these rights as I explain them to you? Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me now? >> What am I going to jail for? >> All right. You're going to jail tonight or today for your children in the second. >> So, am I just going go on in and come out or >> I don't know how the jail handles the process with each charge. right now. I'll book you in and the jail will let you know when you can make bail, if you can make bail, and all that type of stuff. >> Well, I need phone numbers and stuff. Can I Can I Can I at least tell Christina to have Brandon come over here? >> Who is Christina? Is she the lady that's looking at us right now? >> No, she lives in that camper over there. >> Okay. The one you went to the other day? >> Yeah. >> I can have someone go over there and just let them know to get in touch with uh Brandon. Okay. I'm going to buckle you up. Okay. Go ahead and lean back for me. >> All right. Just take deep breaths, okay? Nothing you do right now is gonna change your situation. So, you just got to relax. Okay. >> Be able to get my phone number. >> So, right now it's just best to stay calm. >> Come on, Britney. It's Britney. Want to go? Look. Watch this. Look. >> You like that? >> She said she was having a panic attack, but I got her to calm down, I think. So, just keep an eye on her. >> Y'all able to get my dog put on chain cuz people will call the pound. >> Yeah, we'll do our best. All right. Go ahead and have a seat for >> Come on, Sy. Oh, >> come on, Sassy. >> That's a good dog. That's a good dog. All right, man. We got your dog up, okay? And they're we're in they're in the process of looking for Brandon, okay? >> The mother was charged with endangering the welfare of a child. Under Georgia law, she could face 1 to 10 years in prison. Children are completely dependent on adults for care and protection. Even a brief moment of inattention can put them at risk. A call reporting children left at a stranger's doorstep sparked a story about a mother whose reactions left the police unsure how to respond. cracked open the door cuz you know my boss gave me a key. I cracked it open. I said hello. 10 [snorts] times she didn't answer. I end up opening the door. The pillow was like the baby's face. >> So nobody's in the room. >> She's right there and she wake up. On September 5th, [music] 2025, Bloomington, Illinois, police received a report that children had been left at someone else's home unattended. They quickly arrived, confirmed the situation with the caller and the children's father, and ensured the kids were safe. That evening, police approached the mother's home to clarify the matter. >> Which one? >> That one. >> Yeah, eight. No, that's eight. That's seven. Hey D, how you doing? Hey, we got to talk to you about this morning. >> We got to talk about this morning cuz you dropped your kids off at your sister-in-laws. Ain't >> to me. >> What? Ain't [ __ ] to you. >> That lady ain't nothing to me. >> Well, I know, but you dropped your kids off this morning and she didn't even know you were dropping them off. >> That was between her and her brother. He we had a whole conversation 45 minutes last night about what was going on since he get off of work at 6:00 and she was going to leave for the day. That was on him. >> Okay. Well, you still can't drop your kids off right at the door and just leave them there. >> First of all, they was not left unattended like I told the officer this morning. >> What officer this morning? >> The officer that came that evening when I went to get them back. >> I'm talking about this morning though. >> I'm talking about today, too. Like I told the officer. >> I didn't talk to >> It's not my first time dealing with an officer. >> Well, I didn't talk to you this morning, though. Man, it's 1:00 in the morning. My kids are asleep and I think you just woke me up. >> Well, that was my intention. >> Bang on the door. Like, it's >> I wasn't banging on the door. >> Yes, you did. >> I was knocking on the door. >> You was banging on the door? >> I was not banging on the door. >> Oh, so I I really want to hear y'all banging on cuz this door echoed. >> I'm sure it does, but I wasn't banging on it. Go ahead and step out and talk to us. >> I don't have any bottoms on. >> Huh? >> I don't have any bottoms on. I'm at home. >> Okay, we'll put some on. >> I got to go upstairs. I get up. >> All right, go ahead. Put some on. Can you please step this door? >> I'm not letting you close the door. Go ahead, put some on. I have clear documentations on what really happened. Everything is being spiteful. I'm calm. I'm at peace. I already knew that this was coming cuz when people are hurt, that's what they do. >> What the f? >> That's when we trying to figure out somewhere. >> We're going to take care of the kids. We don't have to do that. We don't have one available right now. The mother was uneasy about leaving the children with their father and instead contacted another relative to ensure their safety. At the same time, she expressed [music] dissatisfaction with her own mother, feeling she was treated unfairly. >> We're going to my patrol car over here. >> Okay. But are you calling their dad? >> Yes. He's got equal rights to kids, >> bro. Okay. It's okay. >> He's got rights to the kids and his kids. >> No, I just told you what HE DID TO MY DAUGHTER MOUTH, BRO. Y'ALL RACIST. IT'S OKAY. I'm trying to keep definitely not racist. >> Yeah, bro. Do you want me to dial it for you or anything like that? >> Um, >> hello. Can you please come and get the girls? They're taking me to jail for childment. Their dad said he was going to be on the ra, but he didn't show up. They just asked for some type of form of ID so somebody can get them. No, I ain't trying to see where you at. >> In my apartment complex. >> You still in the apartment complex? >> Yeah, cuz I get they they let me call tomorrow. I'm still in my apartment complex. They're trying to see if I got charged with child. So, possibly I can get out tonight. But they're trying to make sure I don't have any of the charges cuz they just going to fingerprint me since it's a class A minimum and send me my That's what he said. If I didn't have another child, >> man, this is Officer Burke House and Bloomington Police Department. I got a body cam on just so you're aware. >> [clears throat] >> So, what happened was is this morning we got called out to her sister-in-laws, I believe it is. The kids are on the porch. That's the story we're getting. Okay. When I got there, the kids were left alone. So, she's going to be arrested for childment, which is class A misdemeanor. That being said, if she has no previous convictions of childment, she'll be released tonight. If she's been convicted for it before, then they're probably going to hold her to see a judge in the morning. >> The judge would be out on Saturday. >> Yeah, you're right. Yep. It's Friday, so it' have to be Monday. Well, he told her to bring the key. >> Mom, don't say nothing. Don't worry about it. Don't say nothing. Just be done. He right. Let him have it, please. >> I mean, if he did say that, I know this sucks. Everything sucks, right? I understand she had to be to work. I'm not trying to [snorts] ruin her life, nothing like that. I understand >> it's already gone. >> I understand that she had to be to work. I get it. But even if he told her that she had to drop him off and nobody was there to take possession of the kids, basically take custody of them, she can't just leave them there. >> I understand. >> Yeah, I I understand. And he might have did he might have did he might have did her dirty. I understand that. But she can't just drop them off on the porch. [snorts] Kids right now are with our other officers here at the apartment and we're just waiting for I believe it was Zamar. I think she said I think he's coming to get the kids for Do you have Zamar's contact information in case Are you local? >> No, I'm in Mississippi. Oh, >> okay. Well, that All right. >> So, >> I'm going to give the phone back to her. Here you go. I can hold it for you. >> So, you talk to Zamar? >> Yep. I really don't want to talk about this right now cuz I'm trying to keep my nerves so calm. I just pray it don't keep me in there. so I can get my proper medicine. Truth going to come out. Paperwork is already in motion. The only reason why they doing this because they know they busted everywhere and they trying to save face. Cuz all of a sudden y'all, it's 12:00 midnight. I reported it to the officers cuz if the officer felt some type of way, he could have arrested me right then and there and left the kid at the sister house. I didn't had dealt with police three times today. They could have arrested me. I dealt with police three times today and neither one of them arrested me today. But all of a sudden, they wanted to do something at 12:00 midnight. It is what it is. My kids going to be good. I'm just done this son and I'm I'm leaving. He on the eway right now to come get him. >> Okay. Cuz I tried to call her. >> Yeah, he coming. >> So So Nene, they going to take you to Bloomington? >> Yeah, they about to take me to Bloomington. >> And tomorrow going to Bloomington? >> Going to get the girls. I don't even know how I'm going to get home. I All I know is I might walk cuz I don't know if I I'm getting out tonight because I never got >> If you get released tonight, you don't have a ride, shape, or form, you call the police department. We'll make sure you get back home. We ain't going to put you out on the street. Oh, last time when I got out the jail, I I walked. >> You call us. I ain't going to leave [snorts] you out on the streets. Especially if you got to get your little ones. >> You want me to meet her down there? >> He tried to run my back around. I don't know. >> It It just depends, ma'am. I don't know if they're going to hold her or not. It depends on if she's been charged or been convicted, rather. Um if she's been convicted of childment before, then they're going to hold her. I'm just waiting to hear back from my supervisors. >> Oh, okay. >> Hear me when I say this. And my kids are gone and he have no more contact with me and my daughters cuz they are babies. You know you don't want them for real. For real. And that's all it was. You don't want them. So y'all try to do everything in y'all power to tear me down consistently. >> What they want is money. >> Exactly. Exactly. But all y'all went to get y'all all y'all went to school at the same time because they paying y'all $600. Tell somebody want something better at 1500 years later. You had your first kid when you was like 27. All you didn't want to go to school now. It's okay. The message I have the messages where he DCFS he the cops he it all this was pure this was pure vending cuz he know he had a conversation with cuz why would I call you at 5 3 minute call. >> All right Tracy we got to get going. Okay. Is like um >> birthday. >> They going to make me drop call and u I'm going to tell I'm just going to call tomorrow and tell him to get um the girls. >> [ __ ] I'm going to go to jail. [ __ ] That ain't nothing new. Know what I'm saying? >> I'm talking about is you getting out tonight? >> Well, I don't know. They doing a criminal background. We don't know nothing. >> She'll she'll be able to call here when she gets to jail and they book her in and then uh she can let you know if she gets out tonight or not. They'll give her a couple calls. But until then, I got to I got to let her go. Okay. >> Okay. But I'm I'm trying to see where the kid I mean >> they going with Zamar. Stop. >> Stop. You're doing too much. >> No. I'm trying to see where they going to wait on Zamar. >> No, he can't. Good night. Let me call him real quick. >> Let's get this figured out. Tracy, give me a sec. >> Okay. >> The issue of child care remained unresolved as the mother worried that a sudden change in environment might affect the children. Hey, Tracy. So, it sounds like you've been charged with it twice, but never convicted, which means that basically tonight it'll be a class A misdemeanor, which means you'll be released. >> I'm trying to figure out when I got charged. [ __ ] this is I don't know. >> No, no, no, no. Charged and convicted is two different things. >> I ain't never I ain't never like I don't remember. >> It may be way back. But what I'm saying is you were charged, but the judge did not convict you of it, which means that it's just going to be a class A misdemeanor, which means they won't hold you. That being said, do you want Zamar to just hang out here tonight until you get released? >> Yeah. So he don't have to >> Will he do that for you? >> Yeah, cuz I don't want him to have to wake them up and them going to another environment. It's going to be hard for him. >> That's what I'm saying. So if we just leave him asleep, but he'd be cool. It might be a couple hours maybe. I don't know how long they're going to take it to jail. >> Can I call MC get Woody hang out here for a couple? >> Yeah, I'll get your phone for you. Hold on. >> 1111. Oh, >> I don't know how that did that whole face probably right here. >> Yeah, just that right there. >> Oh, I'm sorry. Yeah. Go ahead. >> Like if you need to. >> Can I get my but >> Yeah, I'll grab some. >> Hold on. >> So, can you hang out with the No, can you hang out with them instead of taking them to your house cuz I can get released tonight instead of waking them up and it be a whole shebang. >> Yeah. Yeah, that's cool. What? Okay. Yeah, >> cuz they saying it's going to be like they just got to book me in. >> They're not going to hold her. They're just going to book her in fingerprint. Take some pictures up. You all right? [cough] >> I can't breathe. >> Okay, I'll get your stuff for you. Okay. >> Um, it's a whole machine that I had to take. I just started today. >> Okay. Um, yeah, they're going to release her, man. So, if you wouldn't mind, you don't have to. I mean, you could always take them, but it' probably be easier just leave them asleep if you don't mind hanging out here for a couple hours, maybe. >> Yeah, that's no problem at all. I can do that. Well, I'm right here. I'm I'm pulling up behind you guys. >> Oh, all right, man. I appreciate you. >> Throughout the process, the mother continued to act unpredictably. At the station, instead of focusing on planning for her children's well-being, she was concerned that her recorded photo didn't look as good as the previous one. So, do you have meds you need to out of there? >> So, today jumped off. I had to They were having breathing issues. They gave me a steroid, but I couldn't pick it up cuz I don't have a license. And I've been using my baby's olduterol to help me breathe a little bit. And this situation has I'm having a panic attack. >> I got you. You want me to get EMS out? Look at you. You're still going to go to jail, but you want me I can get EMS out here. >> I just want my breath. Just go to jail and get >> All right, let's get it taken care of. So, you want me to unzip this a little bit? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. Take a couple breaths for me. I got your window down. I'm going to roll this other one down. Okay. >> Okay. >> You sure you don't want EMS? >> Okay. >> Just take some deep breaths for me, Tracy. >> All right. >> Okay. All right, Tracy. Let's get this over with. Go right here to your left. There's a door right around this corner. Get right in that [ __ ] >> So, roughly, how long will these court days be out? >> Uh, I'm sorry. Do what? Like how long when they set the court dates out to be seeing a judge since it's a class man and I know I have to go see a judge, right? >> You do have a court date. You do have to see a judge. You just don't have to see one like tomorrow. You have a court date. I'll tell you that >> is like a month out. >> It is. Yeah. So because there's two children >> there's there's two citations same court date. Okay. >> Um first one is citation number 385612. The second one is 385611. They're both for the They're both for the same thing. And green light for health of the trial. The court dates 9:25 2025 at 9:00. >> They're going to You probably know the process already, but they're going to take a picture of it. >> If they don't make me take my hair scarf off cuz I can't take another ugly mug shot. We got [laughter] to come to an agreement about this mug shot because every time like your department shared me last time cuz they did put a OP out on me and they had that ugly ass mug shot. We cannot have another ugly mug shot. Like that's the only thing I'm requesting. I I >> Anybody else going to see it? >> Uh-huh. You know, I could find everybody mug shot. My pori mug shot was ugly. >> Yeah, but who going to be looking at it? >> No. [laughter] Uhuh. Cuz shot be funny. No. I can't I can't take another mug shot. I am too proud to take another mug shot. [laughter] All right. I ain't got my wig. I got like this is every time I get booked in with bumps and I have jailbre. >> What you call them? Jail braids. >> Jail braids cuz I then the camera already dinged you. So I >> you just a second. You don't have to take them off right now. >> Okay. >> You got socks on, Tracy? >> Mm- >> Oh, man. I should have grabbed you some socks. >> I I I just I don't know. >> I'm weird about the bare floor. >> It's okay. I'm going to show her as soon as I get home. Like, I told you this is not my first party. >> I got you. >> I had on dress shoes when I went to Peor. Imagine being dressed up for an interview and get locked up. >> That ain't no good. [clears throat] >> What? >> You had socks on, then? >> No. >> You don't like flying? >> Uh-uh. I can't be nobody. I need to be in control. >> All right, we're going to go out here. You guys go through the metal detector and then I'm going to hand you just take a seat. >> Yeah, they'll open just All right. You're right. >> All right. Just going through. >> I had a couple questions about these citations when you got a second. >> Okay. And then you're going to take a seat. >> The mother was charged with two counts of child end. Under Illinois law. If convicted, she could face 2 years in prison and a $5,000 fine for both charges. Parenting responsibilities are not just personal matters but involve coordination among [music] family members. Lack of clear communication can create risky situations for young children. When two states, two parents, and a child are caught in a tense conflict, the police are forced to act as mediators. >> He's not going to go to jail. You just admitted to me that you pulled his hair and then he left you. So technically, you started the fight and now you're telling that he's going to. On May 4th, 2025, police responded to a custody dispute between a mother and father over a child. Initially, the mother came to pick up the child, but faced disagreement from the father. The situation escalated quickly, requiring police intervention and the collection of statements [music] from family members. >> Huh? >> This dude, he told me as I'm I'm knocking on the door, he opened the big door and talked about something. You you like, okay, I'm getting him ready. You go wait in the car. I'm like, I'm not waiting in the car. I hang up the phone with him. I call his nana. His nana like, I'm not in the house right now. I can call his older brother. His older brother came open the door. Now I'm in the house talking to his ne the little boy that's sitting on the couch. He talk about he wants to come with me. All type of [ __ ] I'm on the phone with my mom. >> On the phone with my mom. He talking about you're scared of my girlfriend. Blah blah blah. She says she told you boy. I'm here to get my son and your girlfriend saw me if it was a problem. Then she me up. As I'm going back there, I'm asking my son like hey, how you doing? Hey, mommy. How's your baby in her arms? He's hugging me now. I'm in the living room. He all got his fears in my face. I pulled him by his hair cuz why you all in my face and you calling me out by name? Then he going to turn around, run to his room, talk about him. Then you go, you go today. Okay. Now you want to do this. I'm about to call the police. And that's when she dropped her phone. And I swear to God, you're about to I swear to God telling his I'm about to turn your house into cheese. I don't care about none of that. Yes, I am. Cuz he's going to put his hands on. I don't care. So you said you put your hand on him, grabbed him by his. >> Yeah. When he was pointing in her face, she said she pulled his hair cuz at this point in time, she got her son in her arms. Why is you making it a problem every time she pick up her son? >> You have a corridor. Does he have like four order visitation? >> No. >> Why do you let him? >> I let him get the baby because of his nana. >> He lives with his grandmother. >> I know. But >> and I told him I just told his nana that I don't want the baby to be unfreaking supervised without her being around because I don't trust him. He always doing something weird and it's always something that Nana is not around. And now she's in the church and she don't have the baby. I'm I'm asking him like, >> "How old are you? >> I'm 23." >> So it sounds like to me you're making a huge effort, right? To like drive to a different state to let a dude see his kid who causes a problem every single time. >> I give him to the grandmother, >> but he causing you the problem. N >> What's your address? The police about to come. What's your address? >> I understand you want the baby to have a relationship with grandma. However, if you know he stays there and you know he causes a problem every time. You're not ordered by the court to do it. >> So, don't do it. Like, how much? I mean, it has to cost you like $100 in gas just to drive it. >> It does. >> And then you got to wait around. Where you guys from? >> To me, it sound like y'all really not even trying to do nothing. >> You got to listen. I'll talk to him. Go ahead. Take her over here. The grandmother shared the prolonged tensions between the two parents. However, authorities could not intervene immediately because the parents lived in different states, creating challenges in coordinating parental responsibilities. >> The thing is the grandmother had called and asked if she could see the baby. So, my daughter was under the assumption that the grandmother was going to have the baby. >> The mother went to church and the baby because she knew we were leaving out today to go back home. She didn't think her grandson was going to give my daughter a problem with picking up the baby because obviously she may not be aware of the all the other problems he didn't gave her when we always go to pick the baby up. >> So today it was just a different type of problem. Now he put his hands on her now. He put all the on her. >> You know what I'm saying? So like after today I doubt if she even bring the baby back up here. That's my daughter. I'm not going we're not going to let him see him no more regardless of the grandma's thoughts or whatever cuz it was strictly on the grandma life. I'm not going to get to see my grandson till he's 6 years old and he ain't going to remember us. But he keep giving problems. >> So I always tell people, help us help you, right? >> One, put him on papers for child support. >> They won't do it in child. They won't do any child support cuz we stay in the state of Pennsylvania and he's in Ohio. >> Well, since nobody's got to do something about it. How about that? >> Here. You got to You're on camera to somebody. >> You can't say stuff like that. >> You can't take her anymore. >> I don't care. Just walk to the car. Go in the house with the kids. >> Never put no in my face. Talk about he go in the house. I'm talking to the office about somebody. Sorry. She is really upset. >> I understand that, but at the same time, you know what I mean? I try to I try to alleviate things long term, right? You know what I mean? >> Yeah. So, at least I don't I I've never heard that child support should be across whatever state line came down to do the DNA test and everything, they were going to put him on child support, but they found out Pennsylvania found out that he stays in another state. So, they can't really enforce it. And then since we live in Pennsylvania and not up here in Ohio, Ohio can't enforce it. >> It's like interstate type stuff going on. In our call to service notes, it states that she called us over here, but she in our call to service notes, it's stating that she even stated to the call taker that she him first and then Okay, I just I just want to >> No, she didn't. So, when she was on she was on FaceTime with me cuz I called her and asked her cuz what time are we getting back on the road to go back to Pennsylvania? She said, "I'm here getting the baby now." She was banging on the door and I can hear him yelling, "Get the off my door." >> She was like, "Just give me my son." so I can leave. So I guess she caught his grandmother and the grandmother called the older brother and he came and opened the door on FaceTime and this is only what I'm witnessing. Um she walked in the back, she got the baby, the baby's hugging her, he's talking to me on the phone. He I hear him calling her all kinds of and stuff and I see his finger in the camera like touching her face. >> So I seen her, she pulled cuz he has dreads. She pulled his dreads and said like kind of like pushed him back and told him, "Get your finger." She was like instigating and why she holding her son. >> Yeah. So I said, "Diamond, just get the baby and leave." So I called her girlfriend and told her to go in the house and get her so you guys can just go ahead and leave out. But while she's going in the house to get her, I'm still on FaceTime with her and he her phone >> like her the phone out of her hand. >> No, he's her across the face cuz the phone's like this in her face and his hand went across like this. Her phone dropped. My daughter's very aggressive. >> I keep telling her she can't fight me, you know. But the phone dropped and I heard the baby crying and he got the phone. He said, "Daddy, mommy gaga." Mhm. And I was like, "Okay." I cuz I'm all the way on the north side of Akan. I rush over here, call them. She said that they were in the parking lot that my daughter had just called the police and everything. So, we sat here. My son also pulled up too because he don't like me on his sister. >> Yeah. I mean, I understand that. We don't want anything more to transpire. I mean, >> and then I guess he went in the back and got a gun because my daughter was actually about to start fighting him. And he know how my daughter is. She will fight a guy. She box. she not supposed to be fighting, but he know like he won't we had to physically hit her street wide. So, he went in the back and got up and started pointing at her and told her that she was going today in front of another minor child that's in the home. >> Um, is your daughter going to be a little more calm and be able to talk to me, you think, if I try to get that story from her? Cuz I mean, at the end of the day, I mean, I got to hear her statement and stuff and then we want to go talk to him, especially if she doesn't have any visible injuries right now. Um, prosecutors might feel kind of funny about signing a charge. So, I just want to try to talk to her and figure out >> all we have going on. So, >> he is, but you have to you have to listen. >> Although the father's behavior was concerning, according to the mother's account, she herself had contributed to part of the disagreement. >> So, I I mean, I I know you're very frustrated and upset. Okay. But I just Can you tell me the story of what happened over there? And do you have any injuries on you right now? Okay. Do you have any injuries at all or anything that I need to be aware of? >> I don't know. Is there a mark on my face? >> I know I got a busted lip in the inside. >> All right. You want to show me that? >> I can talk. >> Okay, I'll take a picture. >> Nothing too much, but yeah, he still put his hands on me. He's about to get what the he deserves. >> What's your What's your What's your first name? >> He's not listening. >> Can you see what type of vehicle? >> Yeah, I know you're very upset, diamond. Nobody should be put Nobody should be putting their hands on you. Be careful what you say. Okay. I don't care. >> All right. So, you went over there to pick up your child. Okay. You guys started an argument. He was tapping your nose. >> I was knocking on the door so I can get inside the house. The screen door is locked. >> And he opened the big door. He's telling me, "Okay, don't rush me, but I already told him about 7 minutes ago that I was on my way. I'm at the smoke shop getting some freaking mouths so I can smoke." And I go around there. I'm knocking on the door. He opened the door. He told me to stop rushing him. He's going to get him ready and some other stuff. So, I hang up the phone with him. might call his nana. His nana said that she's not at home. She was still at church or something like that. She said she was going to call his older brother. His older brother came open the door. Now I'm in the house talking to their nephew and his nephew all talking to me. And while I'm still letting him back there, get my son ready. And as I'm done talking to him, I walk in the back of the room where I know his bedroom is. And I see my son. So I grab my son. He hugging me. I'm talking to him. I take him out in the living room. And now he's telling me I'm scared of his girlfriend. He's talking me and some more [ __ ] I don't know if it was really a problem with his girlfriend and me. Why didn't she just me up? I walked 20 minutes somewhere and all the way back here. I kicked my socks off, crawl in the bed, and now she got somebody texting my phone talking about where you at. >> I got the Toyota. >> What's What's really the issue? >> So, when you were in the house, what did he >> like? What do you do to your like my face calling me all types of and all types of stuff as I'm holding my son and I do what I need the best to defend myself and I pull him by his hair and he turns around he's me now everything drops out of my hand my son is on the couch his brother talk about he's doing too much and some [ __ ] after he he ran to his room grabbed a gun waving it in my face talk about I was going to some more [ __ ] so I'm trying to call my brother my brother's not answering the phone so I she my mom end up calling her because the phone got knocked out of hand. So, she don't know what's necessarily going on in there. So, she comes in the house and now she's trying to grab me as I'm telling my baby dad's brother to grab my son's shoes and stuff so I can go. And he just over here just still flashing his talk about you're going to you're going to blah blah blah. I'm telling Nana, all right, bet you want to do this. I'm calling the police. I'm pressing charges and he's going to jail and he's not never seeing my son again. And that want to if y'all not going to do about it. Well, I'd be very careful that cuz you can you I mean, if you want to go to jail, if you want to go to jail, that's no problem because see, here's the problem. You're going to listen to me. You're going to listen to me. You're going to listen to me, okay? Cuz you're not listening to me. You keep saying that you're going to go to jail, okay? He's not going to go to jail. You just admitted to me that you pulled his hair and then he's after you. So, technically, you started the fight and now you're telling that he's going to That's not You're not understand. I'm trying to be very calm with you and try to explain this to you. I'm trying to keep you from getting hemmed up. You are digging yourself a hole. Hole. Okay. You are literally saying he's going to end up stuff like that. That's not good. Okay. That's all in my body. Okay. Would you like to go to jail? Cuz I have no problem sending you jail. >> You can't and you can't. >> You can't do that. >> But he already me first. >> You're not Diamond. You're not Diamond. You're not understanding what I'm talking about. >> Okay, I hear you. >> You're not because you stated, "Yes, he was in your face, but you pulled his hair and then he Okay, you started the physical altercation. >> Touching me in my face. Why is he touching me? Okay. >> Okay. Well, we're we're going to go over to we're going to go over to we're going to go over to Merin. >> It's a yellow door on Merin. >> I have the address. I have the address. >> But you need to be very careful about what you're saying. >> And I am you're not you're not. This is all on body cam. So if anything if anything if anything on body are actually you mind if I talk to you over here? >> Okay. >> The mother's statements were recorded and became evidence that helped police understand the situation. Officers continued working with other family members to verify events. >> I'm trying to keep from arresting her right now and she's not understanding this. Okay. He keeps saying she keeps saying he's going to end up stuff like that if we don't do something. One, she pulled his hair first. She started the physical altercation. Yes. He that's still I mean as men, you know, we don't want to be putting our hands on women, right? But she started a physical altercation. She's now stating that he's going to end up we don't do anything. She could go to jail. Okay. Especially it's all on body cam. So if anything happens to him, who do you think? >> Yeah, I could put her hand up right now. >> And I mean, I'm and I'm trying I'm going to go over to murder and figure out what happened. I'm going to go talk to him. Okay. But she needs to chill out cuz yes, we have enough to arrest her right now. We we have enough to arrest D right now. >> I know for what she's saying, okay, cuz she don't have no >> I understand. I understand that. So what it's called is aggravated menacing. I know she's very upset. Okay. But I'm trying to explain something. She admitted to me on body cam. Okay. Yes, he was in her face, but she grabbed his dreads first and that's when she got she physically grabbed him first. >> That's what I told you. I said she feel like she can beat the man. >> But my point is is like she start she's starting that. Yes, he's in her face and that's I mean obviously I mean we got the we got the kid. I mean look, he's been crying and we want to think of the kids. None of this is right, but she right now she's in the wrong right now and I can't even go over to Merin. So I mean my supervisor here I'm going to talk to him, okay? Cuz I technically have enough to arrest her right now for aggravated menacing on that. Despite her efforts to protect her child, the mother ultimately had to [music] face legal responsibility for a moment of uncontrolled behavior during the conflict. >> Hey, Diamond. Can I talk to you for a minute again? >> All right. I'm just going to need you in the back. Okay. >> Listen, can you take my stuff out my pocket? >> Yeah, we will. So, right. >> I don't understand. She's just upset. I >> I explained that to you, though. I mean, I explain everything to both of you. >> So, for her to be careful, and she was not careful >> cuz she's upset. >> I get that. But still, that doesn't that doesn't change things, okay? She can't be doing that. She can't be doing that. >> Like, we got to get back to Pennsylvania. Her kids got school and everything. >> Mom, grab my stuff out. Hold on. She She's under arrest. There's nothing but my AirPod and my life. We have an officer that will grab it all out. >> Okay. Look, get my AirPod on the ground right there. >> All right. We'll get that. Let's take her over there. Clean over here. Unless you need gloves. What are you doing? >> I can't eat my gum. >> Stop. >> What's that? >> Like I said, just chill out. >> I told you, Diamond got to my haircut. >> All right. >> Yeah, we're we're not speeding through anything. We're take We're going to make sure everything's taken care of and we do everything correctly. >> So, y'all still not going over there to him? >> I'm going to go over there. I I just accidentally >> Yeah, I'm going to go over there. Yeah, I'm going to go over there. Don't worry. Cuz I, like I said, I want to have everything for my case here. Okay. >> Goddamn. Which one are y'all taking? >> I I'm talking to your mom. >> Take a shield. >> Can we put her in your car since I'm going to go over to Merin? >> She was making a threat. >> I don't give a What do you mean? >> D. See, this is this is why you're in cops. I tried telling you she'll have a court date tomorrow morning. >> Call my kids out of school. I see. >> Okay, so I have mom here, brother. Since you guys are family, let me talk to you guys over here real quick. Okay, so like I explained to both of you guys numerous times, I told her to stop saying what she was saying, proceeded to keep saying that he's going to end up Okay, this does not mitigate anything that happened over there. Where she's hemmed up right now is what she was saying in front of us. Okay, we're still going to do our due diligence and go over there. But her stating multiple times after we've told her to stop, okay, that he's going to end up, okay, is domestic violence menacing because they share a child in common. And in the state of Ohio, domestic violence is a preferred arrest. Okay. So, unfortunately, she's got herself now hemmed up. Okay. She did that to herself. She would have been cool. Okay. We wouldn't be in this boat. >> Okay. >> Yeah, but she upset. >> I I completely I see why she's upset. I would be upset. Okay. But she's still You can't be saying that. I understand. >> Okay. Especially, let's say something does happen to him now. Okay. Who are they going to come to? Her immediately. I tried telling her to stop and she refused cuz she's upset. I know. But now she's hemmed up. So, she'll have a court date tomorrow. >> Okay. And you said she has full custody of the child? >> Yes. >> Okay. If she signs a custody release form, would you be willing to take the child? >> Yeah. All her kids. >> I know. I I have to ask that. Okay. Cuz she has to assign a custody release form. >> Okay. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. >> Yep. >> After the situation on the mother's side was stabilized, police completed the process with the father's side. The resolution included measures to ensure a safe distance between the two families. >> So, we don't have a on us. All right. Cuz there was talk of a gun. That's why I'm asking. All right. >> Oh, you must talk to the female. >> Oh, yeah. So, what's going on today? >> Basically, she came to pick my son up. Um I simply told her when she got here she could wait inside the car, you know. Um nobody was being rushed or anything. She said she didn't want to wait. So I said, "Okay." I waited, got him dressed, got my bag. I told her, I told my people not to let her in the house. Cuz I knew how she was going to act and I knew how she was. My nana texted my brother said, "Let her in the house. This is her house." He let her in the house. Simple. I said, "Okay, give me 5 minutes." Got the bag ready. Got the clothes ready. I said some little [ __ ] She said some little [ __ ] Went back and forth. I gave her my son. As soon as I'm turning away, pull my hair yanked me. So I mushed her on her face like >> out of the house. And then and then after I did that, after I did that, she come outside throwing at my nana's window, banging on the door. Like, you can't you cannot come here. You cannot come here and think you about to run [ __ ] You don't you don't do that, bro. >> Let them know this ain't the first time. >> And this ain't Nana. >> That's Nana in a dress. >> Okay. All right. Do you mind if I talk to you inside real quick? >> Okay. >> I raised my sons not to women at all. And if push come to shove, now I don't do the but if push come to shove, HE GOT MY DAUGHTER RIGHT HERE AND ME to handle the women that don't know how to handle theirel. >> But I refuse for my son to get a domestic charge. He's a good boy. >> No, they got no >> he works. He pays taxes. He takes care of his son. And we DON'T NEED THIS DRAMA. HIS NANA HAS medical problems and everything else. >> I definitely would make it known like don't let her in the house. >> My nana she don't She don't >> I know she's from a different generation. >> Yeah. And that's exactly what my mom said. >> So, let's continue talking. So, I just got to ask you a couple questions real quick. Okay. So, >> after basically she grabbed your dreads and stuff like that. Was a firearm ever in play? Did you grab a fire and just wave it around at all? Anything else like that? >> No. >> So, that didn't happen at all. Okay. So, there shouldn't be any video of that. >> No. >> No. Okay. Right now, I just am going to explain. She's under arrest right now. Okay. Because she was openly making towards you in front of us. After we told her to stop, she continued. So she's Yeah. So she is now under arrest for domestic violence menacing. So she's going to be going to jail today. >> Okay. >> Okay. Well, we wanted to come over and talk to you and figure out what happened. Uh I talked to your grandma. Okay. It's her choice. Okay. She can't be coerced. She said that that should take care of everything. There's not going to be any charges for the damaging of the lamps. There's going to be a restraining order that's automatically put in place where she cannot contact you. Okay? So don't be contacting her. >> Important. Listen to this. >> There's going to be a restraining order that's automatically put in place. So listen, that means nobody in his family can be contacting her and she cannot be contacting anybody regardless. Okay, that's a violation. The courts figured that out. >> Basically no social media, no texting, no calling. >> So she's going to have a court day tomorrow and like I said with the whole child thing that's going to there's going to be basically CSB will probably just contact. There's not going to be where she's going into the custody, but that's going to be court dates with the child. Okay. >> If they do contact you, you just tell them that you want them. You're doing she's in the middle of doing the share parenting anyway cuz she's from PA. Anytime. >> Just be careful though cuz she does have a little like cut on her lip. Okay. But she even admitted that she grabbed your dreads first. So just be careful. >> Okay. Okay. Cuz Yeah. And that's why I don't that's why I said I don't raise them because if if you can get around then get around. She'sing you. >> Yeah. 17. Yeah, I got a whole another daughter when he got two other sisters. If push come, I'm not having that. He's not going down for no domestic no woman cuz I ain't raising right now, >> but I will do some time. >> The mother was charged with aggravated menacing and domestic violence. Under Ohio law, she could face one year in prison and a $2,000 fine. Conflicts between parents not only lead to legal consequences but also affect the psychological and emotional well-being of their children, highlighting the importance of coordination and emotional control within the family. In Illinois, it was abandoned to cruelty by alcohol and >> we always catch it. >> Get out of my face. GET OUT OF MY FACE. >> ON November 24th, 2022, the hotel front desk alerted the police. A baby was crying non-stop in the room while the mother remained indifferent as if she didn't notice. Urbana police immediately rushed to the scene ready to face the unbelievable truth behind the door. >> Yeah. Uh one of the guests came and informed that there's a baby crying from the room 210 and uh no sound except the uh baby sound. Nothing else is >> Do you have information on the guest that's in there or when they checked in? Uh yeah, one of the police guy only uh brought that girl. Uh one of our transisest clerk informed me that one of the police. >> You got a name on her? >> Yeah, I'll provide him. >> Maybe a maybe a number too if you have it in there. >> Sure. One of our employees over the near by the room. He's standing near by the room. >> Okay. So that employee knows >> more about it. >> Yeah, he's uh right now he's outside the door. >> Is it straight through here? >> Yeah, second floor. >> How do I get up to the second floor? the exit side. You'll be seeing the staircase at the left side in the first hallway. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I appreciate you being >> Oh, yeah. Hello. >> How you doing, sir? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. Good. So, uh I work at the front desk. There was a guest, you know, around the >> Uh-huh. >> Um >> inside the room, the mother slept so deeply that the police could not wake her despite all efforts. >> Cracked open the door cuz you know, my boss gave me a key. I cracked it open. I said, "Hello." the same time she didn't answer. I ended up opening the door. The pillow was like baby's face. >> Nobody's in the room. >> She's right there and she wake up >> Miss Mosley. Hey, ma'am. Hey, come on. >> Ma'am, ma'am, >> I need you to get up. It's the police. >> I need you to get up. You have a baby in here, man. Hey, >> come here. >> COME HERE. COME HERE. >> HEY, I need you to get up. >> STOP SINGING. GET THAT. Even if awake, she was completely out of control, staggering with each step, repeatedly stammering, "Get out of my face, >> ma'am." >> Get out of my face. GET OUT OF MY FACE. >> 336 320. You have family here? >> I was born here. Throughout the process, the police tirelessly searched for a guardian while the mother turned giving information into a farce, even stumbling over her child's name. >> But they said one of an officer dropped her off yesterday or something like that. Yeah, >> the basement said that [laughter] this was laying down or whatever. >> She was knocked out when I got her. >> I came here 8 in the morning. I just pee real quick. >> Hi. You mean to hold her while you pee? Okay, >> she's free. She's >> What's her name? >> Shiloh. Shiloh. >> What is it? >> Shiloh. Somebody cousin, brother, sister? I'm I'm the third child. >> You've obviously been drinking that. You say police, right? Please. I'm trying to be calm with you. >> I appreciate that. I'm trying to be calm with you, too, right? >> So, get the ring on. Get a ring on, right? >> Huh? Yeah, I got a ring on. >> All right. >> You do too. I SEE IT. >> THAT'S A MISSION. >> How do you spell your baby's name? >> Which one? >> This one right here. >> All my kids are named Angie. >> What is it? How do you spell her name? You tell me how to spell it. Her name. Her name. >> No, I won't do that. >> Why not? >> You cute, but you're not. You're not mean. >> What's that supposed to mean? >> That's a saying. I don't know a lot of people. >> Okay, that's okay. I just need to know her name. >> What's your name? >> Chloe. >> Chloe. >> What year? What? >> 97. >> Crazy. >> I I didn't say the word. I just want to know her name. Where you trying to go? >> I just real quick. >> Okay. >> First name. >> Just the baby's first name. >> So, listen. Promise. I'm going to be kind of straightforward with you. Okay. Let me wait till we take the baby first. >> We [snorts] need to have somebody's information. Grandma's information. I need her name and number so I can call her. Okay. >> My grandma's information. >> Huh? >> My grandma's information? >> Yes. Do you have it in your phone or do you know her phone number? >> Yeah. I keep asking mine. Yeah. Yeah. Come on. So he's like, "All right, let me see if I can get some contacts." He's like, "Just be blunt and be like, "Hey, listen. Maybe we can go to DCF as long as you get this information because she got to go." So I know I know I don't know if you want to just try to grab it maybe and we can just But I want to try to at least get grandma's information before we You know what I mean? >> She said, "I'm not for I'm not for her. If they're not there in the bags or something, then I don't see them. >> I'm not seeing them. >> OKAY, [laughter] LET'S GO. [snorts] >> PUT ON MY FEET. WHAT the is you talking about? >> Come on. My feet. >> Yeah, >> I don't see it. >> MY BABY'S NOT THAT CRAZY. >> I'm still >> No, I'm not seeing any. So, CAREFUL. GET MY BABY, BRO. Get my baby. Get my baby, bro. >> Get my baby, bro. Please. My baby. My baby, please. >> PROMISE. >> MY BABY. >> MY BABY. >> WALK. WE'LL BE calling somebody for your baby. OKAY. OKAY. >> MY BABY, BRO. I PAY YOU MY BABY. probably be faster incarcerate. >> Oh yeah, >> baby, bro. >> What did she say? >> But not stopping there, the police immediately returned to the hotel, checked the scene, and gathered more information from the staff. >> Get my baby. Can I get my baby? Huh? Search real quick. Get my baby. stupid. >> All right, have a seat. Don't touch me, bro. >> In the room. >> And that probably door just locked on us. But so he's transporting for the warrant. And then >> do what? All right. >> We're trying. Ruff just gave me some new numbers, but when I call >> What do we have as far as how long? Baby was by herself, right? [snorts] >> Yes. >> She was passing on the room by herself. One of the employees was holding the baby when I got to the room saying that he opened the room, went in. You guys are good. As soon as you can just get her going. >> I need >> here. >> I'm adding I'm adding >> It's on the ticket. >> I'm adding battery to PO. She me like five times and I told her. >> Okay. >> I'm trying to get the details of what we're doing. >> Promise. >> So I'll I'll rate you. Got you. So, so yeah, as as far as time frame of how long baby was one, we could ask the worker >> exact positioning of the baby. Okay. How old is it? >> We haven't got a name on it, but it has to be not even a year old. >> Not even a year old. >> Yeah, it doesn't look like it. If it's definitely not past two. So, hello. The employee that I I know I didn't speak with you, but the employee that was up there with the baby. >> Okay. >> In 210, is he here? >> Uh, yes. >> Got some liquor bottles in the room empty. She smelled with alcohol. >> I got you. When you made contact, was she out >> cold? >> She was alcohol >> on the bed. Yeah, it was typical. >> The baby same bed. >> He was remember the employee had the baby in the hallway. >> Oh, okay. Is there two beds or one bed? >> Two beds. >> Two beds. >> The employee that I spoke with? >> No, he left. >> He left for the day. >> Yeah. >> Well, he was just there >> for When did you first find out about the baby? Like when did the >> one person came here >> to tell you about the baby crying? Right. What time? As soon as we reach a didn't show the time exactly >> when you called the police. >> Yeah. As he said uh my uh colleague went to the uh room to check the whether he is it legit complaint or not to verify it. So he was standing outside the door and he informed me he called me and he said that uh hey the baby is really crying call the police and explain them the situation. So I call >> you call police. >> I call 911. >> So initially it was uh another customer who called say the baby was crying. >> Yeah. Another person >> called you. You send the employee there. He says hey the baby's crying really bad. You call police and then that's I come soon after but he goes into the room to check the baby. Okay. And then he left. Okay. Can I get your name please or your ID if you have it? >> And [snorts] they shuddered at the horrifying truth of how the baby was. >> Hey Mr. Thomas. Hey, it is [clears throat] Officer Cologne. I was the one who came to the room when you were here with the baby. If you [snorts] got a quick minute, okay, when you came up here, your or the other employee, I don't know if he's your manager or whatnot, but Ahmed, he said he got a notification from other patrons that the baby was crying. He had you come up here to come check on the baby. You said, "Hey, the baby's crying really bad." You told him, he called the police, and then you entered the room to check on the baby, right? What did you see when you come when you came in? Can you just explain it? When I walked in, the uh the baby was screaming and crying and the pillow was like on her face. >> So the baby was laying down on the bed. >> Yes. >> Was it [snorts] on the bed that the mother was on or the other bed? >> The other bed. >> The other bed by itself then. Okay. >> Yes. >> And so the pillow was the baby was laying down on its back. >> The uh Yes. The baby was laying on its side. >> On it side. >> Yeah. And the pillow was on the face on the face. >> The pillow was covering the face. Tush left hand side. It was covering the left uh her left cheek. >> Her left cheek. >> Yes. >> Okay. Almost like rolled over and was trying to get up and couldn't. >> So the baby rolled over on its side and the pillow was covering half the face. >> Yes. >> Okay. Gotcha. And then you came in, grabbed the baby and then >> I grabbed the baby and I tried to wake the lady up. Um but she wouldn't wake up as like how you did it when you walked there. >> So you tried to wake her up and she wouldn't wake up either. Yes, sir. >> All right. And then you exit the room and that's when I came. >> Yep. >> Okay. Perfect. They carried out deeper legal procedures not just to protect the child but to expose the guardianship and legal mysteries around the mother. >> Okay. Do we have any paperwork that like from a hospital or anything >> from OSF but it doesn't have any information on >> Okay. That means that she's been to OSF code for here. >> Will you go to OSF promises name and date of birth and her full name? Just say all we have to protect you but we don't have birth and we should be able to give birth to this. I guess she gave you Did she give you you said a date of birth? >> 129 and 121. >> Okay. >> Based off of the issue date, but >> Well, issue dates within what usually they do that uh it's usually cuz they have a certain amount of dates. You just turn it in. So, it might make sense. [snorts] >> She's telling me how old she is. [laughter] >> Nothing else. Yeah, that's the only thing that had his name. >> Uh, DCS should be in route. I have CPD and the dad's address. The dad will be RP. It's also the same location for a whole bunch of domestics. >> I think that's the last. >> Yeah. >> But that's obviously different. >> Unless, >> but she was married to one point to a guy named Eric Love, whatever. Perez. >> Yeah. Go to OSF. >> We're good here until DCFS. >> Her ID is in there if you wanted to take it. >> And you got Who's the mom? >> Yeah, I promise. Cuz it's spelled different. >> Why? >> Yeah, she was really mad about that. >> Uh, that's how I smelled it. >> Okay. Her card is different. >> She said she's mad because she was given that name with that. >> So, she also said her name was Britney. >> Mhm. >> She thought she knew she had a warrant. >> Uh, that was it. Oh, maybe she just said that she was mad. That was her name. >> Yeah. You know what? I didn't even I had come like told her, "Oh, your name's Promise, right?" She's like, "Yeah." >> I asked their her name first, you know? So, >> run to OSF real quick. We're good [snorts] here. And if we make contact with family, we'll figure out that way we can pass along to DCFS. But we've already got the DCFS ball rolling cuz if she's got guardianship, unless she says that dad can take her, we're not we won't hand her to anybody. >> Okay. >> So, all right. Um, all right. >> No plan. >> She likes thumbs. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. So, go ahead. Let's head to OSF and get that. See if they got any info on this child. >> I'm going to try really, really quick to stop by Domino's and pick up this food that's been waiting for a long time. If that's all right. Really quickly. >> Yeah. [laughter] >> If they still have it. >> Yeah. >> Right. So, >> go ahead and do that >> really quickly. >> Yep. >> Michelle was arrested on charges of child and battery of an officer. Under Illinois law, she could face up to two years in prison, a fine of up to $16,000, and bail set by a judge depending on the severity of the case. Just one moment of negligence, a sip of alcohol, or a reckless decision can ruin a life, even child's life. Sometimes a parent's unconditional love is betrayed by their own irresponsibility. In Florida, one door, two worlds. Outside, the police. Inside, a child hidden until suffocating. >> I'm being ruled. >> Can you come down? Let me tell you what's going on. >> On February [music] 26th, 2023, Sarasota police knocked on a house to carry out a court order to place the child in protective custody. But before entering, a man rushed out to block them, reacting extremely, refusing to cooperate and deliberately sparking conflict from the start. >> If you could just knock on the door. Hey, we're allowed to come in forcibly. You need to produce the child. If you don't, we are going to force entry and come to home. Something like that. About every minute, repeat that door. I'm going to let the other guys know his spot. >> He's on his way. Give us 5 to 10 minutes and then we'll take it from there. But we're not leaving. >> Police department. We have paperwork to enter your home and we will use force if you don't answer the door. >> The court order has a clause for allow officers make forceful entry to get the child. Judge it. Add a clause in there. I read off this sergeant. He's on his way. Jordan's out there just making announcements and we're pounding on the door. >> She's in there. She looked out. >> You actually saw? >> Well, I can't say it was the girl in the photo, but somebody looked out the back window, saw me here, and then duck down. >> Somebody answered the door. They said it wasn't the mother, but she immediately was like, "Hang on, just slam the door." Now, nobody's answering. So, I let Sergeant know all that. He says, "Good. He's on his way. Hold it back. If you guys have hang out here, >> will you tell them on the other side that the door's open?" >> My mom boyfriend might be in his room, but my mom's at work. >> You lied to my daughter. YOU JUST GOT TO MY DAUGHTER'S FACE AND TOLD HER YOU HAD A FIRST ONE. SIR, >> let me sir. Can you just take >> You woke up and you didn't really know what's going on. We'll explain to you. >> I did. Hold on. Mute. Hold on. Please. Let me talk to you, sir. This what I'm saying. I'm being rude. >> Can you tell what's going on? >> I'm being rude because I just feel there's no address on there. There's no name for the person whose address on the address. All that's illegal. >> If you don't calm down, we can't explain. All right, let me count. >> Show me the search. >> My thing is the search doesn't have our address on you. The search is for here. >> You're shouting again. If you don't want me to go in the search the search warrant, you have to speak about it. >> Misunderstood. >> No, no, no. I misunderstood. You said you had a search. >> She clearly told me. >> I never said the word search warrant. >> This will be nice to you. I want you to be reasonable to me. >> We have an order to enter the home and take the child from this address. >> There's no address on that. >> Mother of the child has this address listed as her residence. I was told by the female that answered the door that she was here with the baby. >> I'm just going to be impatient because you're being impatient. I just woke up and you're in my house. >> You weren't prepared to see us. >> Can I explain to you why we're here? Can I explain? He's not telling me why you're here. He's making no sense to me. >> Will you give me just a minute? >> Yes, please. Do you want to look in the house any further? >> I do want to see the last room that was locked. >> It was locked. Okay. I think Officer Schaefer is sitting out the front. We're going to sit here and hang out wait till my supervisor gets here. Then we'll go from there and reexlain it to him if he's going to listen and we'll get access to that room. Okay, that's no problem. But he's being awfully upset and unreasonable. So, we're not going to take it to that next level yet by which my sergeant gets here. >> Despite all efforts, the man kept interrupting, questioning every explanation and demanding to see the search warrant. >> Doesn't matter. >> So, the mother put her address here. This address is listed as her address. >> How can she do that? Honey, you know, >> I know you have commentary, but let me just finish real quick. DCF has paperwork, a judge signed paperwork that says the police can use force and enter this home and retrieve the baby. That is the paperwork. How do I know how old your daughter, right? This is your daughter. >> All right. Don't >> Your daughter told us that she was here. >> I did not say that. I said I just came from home from school and you said, "Is she here?" You said, "Yeah." and you closed the door like you were going to go get her cuz you didn't know. That's fine. Nobody's mad at you. >> I don't want to interject. I just wanted to get >> Are you okay? >> So that's what we were looking for her. >> Yeah. So y'all walked in. She was >> No. Listen, >> we were told she was here. >> This is really This is very disturbing. Right. >> No. No. You were asleep, right? You were asleep, right? Your 16-year-old daughter opened the door, says yes, you can come in, right? And did we leave after you you said you can't be in here and leave? Right. We left, right? Yes or no? Y'all still here? >> Yes. No. No. No. We [laughter] left the house. Is that correct? Yes or no? >> It took a second for y to get out. Yes or no? >> It had to start. I had to start getting Irene. Yes, sir. You told me after I got >> We have good reason to be in there with the judges. >> You had permission from what you said. All I was asking for was proof of address and proof of just show me she's show me. >> You have to give us an opportunity to explain. >> This is great. Explanations are great, right? But you're not showing me the proof. If we're in a court of law right now, you guys will lose the case because you haven't showed me the proof to say there's no lose. This isn't a criminal matter. >> I didn't say this is a case. I said if we were in a corner lot, proof is in a pudding. If you do not show proof, how are you? >> Let him answer. >> My super is going to come here. We're going to explain to you again that we're going to go in there and check that last room. So, either you can let us do it now or wait till my supervisor is going to hang out here because you're being very hard to talk to and stuff like that. Okay. So, that Yes. >> Because I'm making No, sir. Because you're rambling on. You're being rude and interrupted. So, we have to hang out here for my student and then we're going to speak to you again. >> I'm not trying to give you a hard time. >> We're going to have to go in if you don't give us permission and we're going to have to execute. >> I'm not trying to give you a hard time, right? >> No, I don't agree with you. You are giving me a hard time. >> I'm trying to give you a hard time. >> Do you know that the last time that we were here, she ran out the back door? >> Okay. That's why we have four officers here. We have a supervisor on the way. >> I don't know none of this is going on. That that's not like that's that child is belongs to the state. >> So, y'all agree with him that y'all ain't understand nothing? Yeah, >> you're getting caught up on act like he's being act like a cop right now. Right. >> Meanwhile, the police were also trying to locate where the child was being hidden. >> One room's locked obviously. >> Right. She's in there. >> Yeah, more than likely. He's being a pain in the butt, but I finally got through and said, "What's going on? We're not leaving." Sergeant's going to come out to explain again, but we are going in there whether we can. I asked her, she goes, "There's an address here. Is there anywhere the child is going to be? He's already admitted she just sleeps on the couch. We should be all just fine." So >> after the tense back and forth, the police presented the court order and the man seemed to gradually understand the situation. >> You act like I can't hold a paper. >> See this emergency motion? >> Read it right >> for to produce access to the home. >> Okay. >> And then this part right here says law enforcement officers are hereby authorized to make a forcible entry at any hour using any and all reasonable necessary. She has refused to produce the child to the state. The residence, this is your address. >> Thank you. That's what the I'm talking about. NOW YOU CAN SHOW ME THE address off rip. None of that would have happened to me. That's all I'm saying. If she would HAVE PULLED THAT OUT off rip and or he said he had it in his hand. >> It would have been easier. Show me no address for the address. >> I'm talking about the same thing from the beginning. The address. I keep saying show me the address. >> It's right here. >> Right. The DCF's up front and stuff like that cuz that's where the guy is that kicked us out. We didn't want to kind of escalate anymore. Here's what happened. The 16-year-old daughter's like finally answer the door. Hey, you can come in. They go through the house. They find two doors and knocked on the one. The male came out, freaked out, cursing, get out, get out, get out. There's still one door locked and they're not no one answer the door and he doesn't want us to answer it. We backed out. Took us a while to explain it to him. We explained it to him. He still doesn't want to go us to go in there. So, I said, "We're just going to wait till you get here." >> One bedroom with a man who they're saying the kid's not in there. >> Yes. >> The owner of the house, >> but he doesn't want us to look into the detail. >> Okay. And that would be the parent of the child. >> No, no, no, no. The parent of the house. >> Who's the parent of the child? >> What's her name? >> Is that person here? >> No. No. No. The child or that mother is not here. We believe because they're not letting us in there and nobody's answering the door and the door's locked. >> He's already on the back side with DCF and everybody on the outside. >> Two sides. >> Yes, sir. There's two doors. >> So, you would have never heard me arguing and debating with you guys. If you would have showed me the address, I like, "Okay, what do I want to do?" I would have said, "Okay, >> you want us to wait for our supervisor to address the address. >> All right, we'll wait." >> A supervisor arrived and everyone began moving inside. >> This is the the guy that was locked in. >> You're good now. She showed me the address. >> This is the gentleman that lives here at this residence. She's seen the paperwork with the address on it. >> I get it now. She's the address. Okay, >> you're good now. >> You're going to let us go check now. It would have been a green light if you would have showed me the same thing. She just showed me the address. >> This is a rare circumstance cuz most people when the state says we need that child, >> but you can't treat every single turn the child over. >> Is the kid here? >> I don't know. I just woke up. I just told her last bedroom was locked. >> I don't know what's going on. >> Do you have a way to get into that last bedroom? >> I don't go in that room. I'd be in my room. >> Usually when a a bedroom is locked, it has to be open from the inside. So, somebody might be in there. Hold up. Hold up. Stay here for a second, man. Boss, >> boss. >> After searching every nook [music] and room, the police finally rescued the child from the reckless mother trying to escape was immediately caught and the handcuffs were drawn just in time at the right moment. >> Your grandma's phone number. >> Give me one second. Sit down. >> 37. >> Please sit down. >> For what? >> Please sit down. >> For what? >> Because you keep walking around. I can't find the kid. You're being detained. Sit down, please. >> OKAY. MY GRANDMOTHER. Y'ALL NEED TO GO TO MY GRANDMOTHER HOUSE. Sit down on a curb or I can take you in my car in handcuffs. What do you want? Sit down. >> Now don't get up now. Do you see? You want to talk to him or not? But you have to stay here. Do you understand? >> This is not where I stay at. Is that my grandma? >> Do you understand me? >> I don't understand you. >> Stay here and don't move. Do you understand that? If you get up, I'm going to put you in handcuffs so you're going to my car. I'm not warning you again. >> The reason that they're here is because you're not cooperating. You're not here to for criminal. We're not trying to take you to jail unless you start acting out and we have to do so. Just relax. >> This is their house. Okay, but you were staying here at some point. That was the address that they have for you and the judge signed off on that address. >> Get officer Sullivan's going to search you. >> Officer Sullivan's going to search you. >> Spread your feet. Spread your feet. >> Where was the baby? >> Under a blanket. >> Is that too late for that? >> Why do I have to go to jail? >> Because you know exactly why. I'm sorry. I'm done with this. >> You're being arrested for obstruction. Because you didn't N. You didn't cooperate. >> I already have enough glue on how my class is. >> I'm sorry. I have no sympathy for you when you just lied to us. >> Just hold still. >> Just hold still. >> Can you widen your stance, please? There you go. A little bit >> wider. We can't. >> It's too late now. >> We weren't going to take you to jail, but >> your actions increase this result. >> You just get her info. Start PCA. >> Minimum. >> Can you send one of the girls from DCF over? >> Is there a way you guys? Further legal procedures were also carried out. >> Okay. I've already explained to them that it sucks and that we're we're sorry for what happened. Do you guys do you know what your charge is? >> I'd like to do something like a child or something. I want to read up on that and figure it out. Take your time. Like this this one I want to do it right. So like I think that you can do 10:15 based on the violation of that. There's probably a statute on that. Maybe call booking and find out. I'll keep Garrett here to help facilitate whatever is about to happen. Uh as far as you guys are concerned, you've got mom. You have all the information that you need to do at 10:15. Why don't you go start taking her to jail? >> Okay, no problem. >> She lost her right to be able to see him and stuff. Start running. >> At the same time, the police revealed how the mother had hidden the child. >> We forgot to ask you exactly how you found the child. >> She was in the bedroom across from the one that you wanted to get into. So, the one that you were in, literally directly across from that, he said, "Hey, Sergeant, come with me." I followed him. He didn't speak any words other than, "Come with me." He pointed in the room and I was like, "Is baby in here?" I was thinking the baby was 67 by this time. Like, I thought that's what was happening here. And uh so as he pointed in the room, I just hear like little baby. Okay. So I just peel the blanket up and grab her. So she was covered. That baby was covered with like a comforter, which will be on my body camera, but they covered her up in order to conceal her from us. >> I think what happened was she was in the room that you guys couldn't get into when you left. They moved her across and covered would be my guess. >> The mother was arrested on two charges, obstruction. Under Florida law, she could face up to 1 to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $2,000 with bail starting at $1,500 or set by a judge. Every adult action is a fragile line with life on one side and tragedy on the other. If the mother's act caused the child to suffocate, it is not just a responsibility, but a moral sentence haunting her for life. And finally, we realize that the challenges in these stories often start from [music] small cracks. Moments that seem insignificant, but set off a chain of events that cannot be undone. As you finish watching this video, remember one thing. Every action by an adult leaves an impact. And sometimes that impact shapes a child's experience in [music] profound ways.
