You disgust your honey. You're the disgusting human being as your child. >> Do you have kids? >> Nine different incidents. >> Nine different incidents. >> Okay. So, >> number 10. >> Among the hundreds of reports each year, seemingly simple cases reveal [music] a stark reality. Adults often have the most influence on children. >> How many times I tell you to stop calling 911 for this? Do you know? Do you remember? HOW MANY TIMES? WELL, the range is 5 to,500. So, for the classic, >> it's going to be 15. >> I pulled Id. >> Today, we step into four stories where choices are tested and family dynamics are stretched to their limits. You'll be surprised to see how a child reacts when witnessing a parent repeat a questionable action for the 10th time. >> We come off the sidewalk into the um crosswalk. He runs up to me saying, "I'm scared. I'm scared." On November 16th, 2024, staff at a Target store noticed a mother adjusting price tags, resulting in an underpayment of around $800. Her son was right beside her, observing everything. >> Jessica, I need to talk to you. >> I'm just getting my car jumped. >> Yeah, this is going to have to wait. >> I just need to get my son home. Follow me to my house and then >> I'm not going to follow you to your house. So, thank these really nice people for attempting to help you. And if you still need help and we're done, then I can help you. >> Okay. Okay. >> All right. Can you call my son's dad to come get him? >> Um, we'll see what happens. Okay, so here's the thing is we got called here. Target is saying that you were caught trying to steal some items from Ben. We're going to investigate that. And if that's the case, we'll go from there. If it's a misunderstanding, then we'll go from there. But right now, you are detained. You're not free to leave. If you try to leave, you will be arrested immediately. Do you have a cell phone on you? >> It's dead. >> Okay. This is what I'm going to have you do. I got to move my car cuz there's a bunch of people trying to get out and stuff. I'm going to have you just come up towards the front of the store. Okay. This way you don't try to drive away or anything like that. >> My car is dead. >> That's a fair point. I'm still going to have you go up towards the front of the store cuz I'm going to move my car up there so it's out of the way. Okay. >> Oh, sorry. Sit down. Why are you putting down his information? >> Because you were caught shoplifting with a minor with you, which means you're also going to be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. >> What does that mean? >> But basically, in the state of Utah, if you perform criminal acts in front of a minor, it's called contributing to the delinquency of a minor cuz it leads him to believe that that's okay to do. All right. Will you hang out with them? I'm going to go talk to them. >> According to the store, this was not the first occurrence. The woman had been involved in nine similar situations [music] at the same location. This marked the 10th and in almost every instance, the child was present. >> Hello. Sorry, a little bit of a cluster in the parking lot. You think? >> Jeez. >> Okay. What do we got, guys? >> Is your body camera? >> Of course it is. I say what I was going to say then, but it's going to be cool at first. >> Wow, that was insane. >> Yes. Do you want to >> Is she with one of you guys right now? So, of course. >> Oh, yeah. I'll try to leave all the >> a good chunk of this is not scanned or if it is scanned, it's ticket switched with a different item. So, that's [laughter] her before. >> This is her. >> Um, we have that much evidence on her plus this. Okay. I have not filed these yet. I was going to and thought, you know what? She's probably going to come in. I'd rather catch her myself. She came in. I caught her myself. >> So, well, >> this is >> weaught Jessica Twitch. >> Nine different incidents. >> Nine different incidents. >> So, this is number 10. This is number 10. Okay. Yeah. Sure. You're aware of how like if we catch her, we'll address this one and then you do the online reporting for the other ones. >> Unfortunately, I'm >> unfortunately [laughter] >> I'll be honest. I totally like it definitely puts both of us, but I mean, if I had to now do nine different reports on this, I'm >> absolutely there's more important things for you to do. It adds a big chunk to me, but I completely understand it. We want to cooperate with you guys as much as we can. So, she selected a whole bunch of stuff. um went into the fitting room. Of course, we can't see what's happening in the fitting room, but when she comes out, she has the same stuff. I can reidentify what she went in there with, including some of the items that are that are in here. Okay, these gummies. Slect those. Most of the stuff that's in here, I saw her select and bag and tie this bag shut. And when she comes out of the fitting room, we can see that it's in there. Some of the stuff she paid the right price for. Most of it has been price switched, which is part of what she does. She goes and gets a clearance tag, tears it off the merchandise, puts it on another thing. So, while she's ringing this stuff up, she's got like a pair of jeans and it comes up white shirt for $4.50. No, sorry. And that's repeated through here repeatedly. When she's done, I'm at the best of. I head out. She comes over to Starbucks, puts in an order, leaves the order there, and then starts going out. I stop her. I know her name. Most of these, the reason why we didn't stop her is because we weren't here. Um, we knew that she stole. We knew how she stole. We run that credit card. Here she is again stealing again and again and again. We stop her. [laughter] She starts to come back in, stops. I'm like, "Nope, nope, nope. Just follow her." I'm starting to get the vibe that she's not going to hang out with me in here. We get her in here. I ask her, "Do you have identification?" "Yes, I do." I ask her if she's got somebody that can come pick up the kid cuz I know that we're going to be doing this and there's a really good chance that she's got history and probably not going home tonight. I don't want him having to go someplace really freaking scary. >> We'll figure that. >> Yeah. So, I asked, "Do you have somebody that can pick up the kid?" She says, "No." And he's like, "Yeah, my dad." She's like, "No, he's out of town." Well, you have roommates. No, I'm not calling the roommates. I'm like, listen, it's probably a really good idea for you to get somebody down here. I'm giving you that option to call somebody. I don't know where you're going to go from here, but I know that I'm going to be calling SGPD. She then comes up with, "I've got to go to the bathroom," which we are. We have to comply with that. I can stall a little bit. I tried to stall a little bit. Said, "Hey, I'm just going to call this in. Soon as I'm done calling it in, we'll walk you to the restroom." Call it in. Let me have your identification. I don't have identification. Okay. Well, what happened to it in the last 10 seconds? So I'm like, "Okay, well, we've got your name." Yeah. >> So I told dispatch, "Hey, she's not being compliant. She's gonna probably run." They dispatch you. I hang up. We start walking around. I'm like, "Don't do anything stupid. Don't do anything stupid." I'm not. I just have to go to the bathroom. Okay. Do you want to take him with you? Yes, I do. Okay, great. She's going to be lying out. I can't physically stop anybody. Soon as we get to the door, she goes out. I'm on 911. Let the dispatcher know what's going on. You drive in before you got here. Sorry. Now that's the other fun part where it just went like, "What is happening right now?" So she goes out, we watch where car she's getting into. We're standing on the sidewalk. Little boy gets away from her and starts running through the parking lot. I'm like, "Holy crap, this kid's going to get because he's this tall and this is a really rough parking lot for accidents or whatnot." So we come off the sidewalk into the um crosswalk. He runs up to me saying, "I'm scared. I'm scared." I'm like, "Buddy, give me your hand." And I took his hand. I said, "Listen, just go with your mom. You're going to be okay." She comes running up and I said, "Listen, don't leave. Come back in with me." She's like, "I'm taking him home. Hey, we're calling 911. The police are on the way. She goes out to her car, puts him in the car, goes to the trunk, gets jumper cables out, and I'm like, no way. Like, couldn't write a movie script with this in it. Luckily, that lady that was there is walking up. Do you need help? Yeah, I need to jump my car. And she starts jumping her car. I'm like, [snorts] >> all right. [laughter] Then I saw you and then I waved and then I pointed and then I came in here. >> Perfect. Okay. The mother had carefully arranged multiple items so that scanning one would overlook others, causing [music] a significant discrepancy at checkout. So, >> we're all caught up on all of that. >> Yeah. >> Do you have a number for tonight >> for the dollar amount? >> Yes. I can try to go get it. >> Can you try to get me something? >> It's going to be a while and I don't want to make you wait. So, here's what we're going to have to do. >> I could probably if I get a register going. If I can get one of these registers, I could probably get some of it at least. >> You yourself? >> Well, I can get Morgan to log me in. Yeah, here's the thing is if you can't give me a number tonight, it's not going to be like a make or break deal. It's a lot easier to say this person [clears throat] took x amount of dollars from Target, took x amount of dollars in this >> honestly with the history, the fact that this is happened multiple time. I'm going to take it to chip. So, like I said, >> I mean, I'm I'm going to guess >> even if it's a guesstimation from you guys, >> more than 500, less than a,000. >> How do the freaking vitamins themselves even cost? >> Those are like 14. This is what >> 35 45 >> 28 with all the stuff that's on the inside. >> Well, that's the other thing. She like layers stuff so that when she scans one, there's five items. >> This scan this. No, this is underneath all these bags. >> We don't need the receipt. I can get the receipt off of there. >> Yeah, I I could try to go get this. Are you okay if I open this Dollar Tree bag? Is that >> Absolutely. Our merchandise is in there. I think that's that green shirt right there. >> Yeah, that's that green. I think >> some of this may not be ours >> because she came in with this bag. came with the bag, but I don't know what all is a bunch of stuff. >> If you can't find it right away, >> just don't worry about it. >> Just set it to the side. That's going to take a while. >> I'll be honest. Guestimation. Over five or under five? >> Over. >> Over 500. >> Closing >> today. >> Over five today. >> Over five. And honestly, I won't be shocked if it's over 100 grand. >> Well, the range is 5 to,500. So, for the classic, >> it's going to be 15. >> So, we'll just go with the class A. And I mean, honestly, if it ends up not being a class A, we can change the charges. It's not that big of a deal. We'll go class A over five. >> Security camera footage [music] clearly documented the sequence of events, leaving little room for misunderstanding. >> So, what were you saying? >> Um, the only other thing, can I get can I watch a little bit of video footage? >> Absolutely. With that, I can at least articulate in, you know, my arrest statement that, you know, I observed her missan or not scan items. Well, we think this >> technically that's her property right there. >> I believe at this point she walked away from it and left it where it was. So, you guys can throw it in the trash. Yeah. I mean, it's not going to go with her to jail anyway. So, >> there's also a really, really strong possibility that she has more layered on her person from being in the figure, which of course I couldn't see. Okay. So, she's going to this going to be her right here. This is what we're watching live. Okay. So, when she scans these light colored sweatpants, >> it is not shorts. Extra extra large. Right away, I'm like, "Okay, she's good. This is what she does every time." So, there's that one. Um, she'll be talking to the team member here to take the little red tag that you see off there. The next one's going to be these jeans. These jeans are not a gray shirt >> for 350. Thank you. Thanks for being here so quick. You >> absolutely. I got lucky. >> Awesome. Yeah. Yeah. Um, >> I watched it pop up and then I saw the name and I was like, "Your name sounds familiar." And then I was like, "I'm going." So, >> you know who she is. >> You can't tell me. I understand. I kind of figured. And I think she kind of figured because she said, "You're you could have let me go. You can let me go." I'm like, "No, I can't. My system is going to said, you see the camera up there? It's watching that I arrested you. And if I let you go, then I lose my job." And I'm sorry. That's >> It doesn't work for me. If you guys get this numbers and stuff figured out tonight, could you call them and just so I can get a basic amount of this much property stuff like my report? I'm not going to go through in detail that this item was scanned as this and stuff, but I'll send that to you on an email with a link to the video, which is a lot of video because she was in here for quite a while. She was in for so long, but it'll be in there by time. >> We're at 800 so far. We're at 800 so far. Okay. >> While reviewing the incident, authorities focused on supporting the child's emotional well-being while ensuring the mother took responsibility for her actions. >> That's going to work for me. >> Sister is coming to pick up him. She's on her way right now. >> He's got a coat in the car that >> it's just in the back seat. >> Do you want to roll the windows and everything up on it? >> Yeah. >> Let's go do that right now. >> Okay. >> Is that keeping you warm? >> Uh little bit better. >> Kind of. I still want the window. >> Yeah. a good job and everything. >> Yeah, you're getting arrested. >> So, if we can get him in a car if you're good with that? >> Yep. That's totally fine. >> Okay. All right. Are you Kimberly? >> Oh, hey. Let's see. She's right here. >> Okay. Hang tight here for a second. >> All right. Let's go. Okay. Face her. Place your hands on top of your head. >> Yep. Interace your fingers. She's got some cats and stuff on her hand that I just saw. I don't really want to touch them. >> So, Jessica, I'm going to search you real fast. Nat's money. So, we're just going to we're going to count it just so you know what it is and then we'll make sure it goes in. >> Okay. So, we got 20 30 40 50. We got 1 2 6 7 $58 in cash and we got at least three quarters, some nickels, and some dimes. >> All right, they're going to recount it in the jail for you. Just so you're aware, I mean, you kind of know how this goes, but like if I miss something on you and you take it into the jail, it's a felony charge. Okay? Anything I missed on you that they're going to find in the scanner? No. >> Last question. Do you have anything on you that you concealed that belongs to the store? >> No. >> Any clothing items or anything like that? No. Just making sure. They said you spent some time in the dressing room. Just checking to make sure you didn't like throw a couple sweaters on or anything like that that belong to. >> Okay. Nothing like that. >> All right. Perfect. >> Question. I know you paid Target some money. Do you remember how much you charged your card for? Watch out so I can close. paid cash and it was like $130. >> $130. >> The mother was charged with shoplifting and [music] contributing to the delinquency of a minor. Under Utah law, she could face up to 1 year and 6 months in prison [music] along with a maximum fine of $3,500. The reasons behind her repeated behavior remain unknown, [music] whether due to personal pressures or challenges, but exposing a child to these situations highlights the importance of guidance and example for the next generation. my mom, man. I don't have nobody, man. I don't have nobody. This all I got and my wife is locked up. >> This father has no one by his side. His child is his last source of support. But in just a moment of losing control, even that sole hope begins to slip away. On July 27th, 2023, officers were called to a home after reports of a man who was asked to leave but remained. He repeatedly argued with the homeowner, insisting he had fulfilled his rental obligations. Not stopping there, the man contacted emergency services multiple times that day over the same issue, even going directly to the station to report it. Yet immediately after leaving, he continued calling, prompting police involvement. >> I called. >> Okay. What's your name, sir? >> My name is T A W N R Y. Talk to the landlord and find out for the county. Yeah. >> I paid my rent all the way to September. Okay. >> He trying to keep me out. They told me to go down go downtown. Yeah. To talk to the to the uh clerk of court. Yeah. >> So you need to talk to him. So he harassed me and I don't pay my rent till October. I'm trying not to go down there. >> Right. I get it. >> But he calling the police on me. He done went booking my [ __ ] Go look at my [ __ ] They done went in my >> Which one is it? Is it the blue one? >> Is it the blue one? >> Number E. >> Scots back. He ripped the notice the sheriff put on there. The eviction notice. >> Well, give me a second. I'm I'll go talk. I'll talk to you real quick. Okay. He ripped the eviction notice off the door. >> Okay. When was that? When do you know when they served that? >> I don't know. Today was eviction day. They called me up, set up an appointment, and uh if you need a case number, I got that. >> Did they come out? >> Yeah, it was like 4 today. Did they come out today? >> They were out here about a half hour ago. >> I told >> And they posted the notice on the door, which he grabbed off. >> They told me to go to downtown for legal aid to file charges against him cuz I paid my rent all the way to September. >> Can I see that notice, sir? >> Okay. Now, here is all my rent receipts that I'd have been paying >> October 22. >> These are all These are all >> If you and I could have had a conversation two months ago, we wouldn't be here right now. >> Hold on. Gentlemen, can we >> Yes, sir. Whatever you need. >> You see what I'm saying? >> I get it. Let's just We don't need to make We don't need to make this anywhere. >> 30 minutes ago. And this is >> I'm just going to have them come back. >> Exactly. Come back cuz you don't need >> You don't my house. >> 6106. Dispatch, >> you don't my >> There were numerous reports concerning burglaries to my house. >> My car up the cops. No, no, no, no. >> They're coming to tow your cars away, too. >> Okay. I don't talk to the police. Your get in trouble. You see what he doing? You see what he doing? I don't want to talk to you. >> Have you got a place to take them? Because I will have them to give me a second. >> Parking fee and everything. If you don't have a place to move them to, please please move them out so I don't have to mail. >> Okay. Give me one second, sir. >> Please call the county, too, cuz they don't bulk in my >> Would you be able to have them 56 with me here at this address? >> Thank you, sir. Cuz if there's numerous report and it was a report about my house being burglarized from >> Well, I'm trying to get him to come here. >> All right. Give me a second. >> A lot of reports. You've been missing. Please move those vehicles so I don't have to because it's going to cost you a lot more money if you don't move them. >> Sir, can we just just let's just wait until >> Am I allowed to go in my house? >> No, you're trespassing. >> Just Just wait. Just wait for whoever talked to you to come back out here. Okay. >> The notice was on the door. So, it told you you're not you're trespassing. You're not >> Well, why why did you take this off the door? >> The door put it on there. I don't know who put it on there. >> Well, this to the cops. I just left 10 minutes ago. I talked to the cop. I left. Came back. They they went in my I don't know. I just left. >> Supervised by the sheriff department. >> I just That's I'm having whoever was out here. >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. >> I'll be collecting. >> All right. That's fine. >> All right. >> Apparently, the county didn't do a good job explaining their eviction. >> Who was evicted >> to one? I don't know. He walked down that way. He's collecting the trash. That That's your dad, right? No. >> Dad. >> Stepdad. Okay. All right. We're just going to hang out for a little bit until the deputies that were out here come back. Okay. Were you here for that? Were you here for that >> when the deputies were here? >> Okay. >> A seemingly simple civil dispute quickly escalated when the father failed to appear in court as scheduled. >> What exactly was the conversation? Was he here when the deputy was here? >> He was here when the deputy was here before 10:30 eviction time. >> Okay. the there was three or four of them all with vehicle and they talked to him or something and he left. Then we came back here and as you can see we had to pry the door open. I've tried to fix it. >> Right. Cuz there was a padlock on it. >> So it's lockable. Yeah. He he had that that was very stupid. I need to take that off of there cuz if somebody's inside and somebody lights the building on fire, you might not get out. >> I've got the party that was evicted here. Sorry, sir. >> It has some questions. I'm not really sure what happened that took place this morning. And I don't know what information he was given, but he's claiming that he wasn't told anything. All right. All right, sir. Sir. Hey. So, I I talked to the deputies. Okay. So, this is this has been a process. They told me that they talked to you about this prior to it. So, you've been to court, right? >> I ain't been to court. I don't know what's going on. >> You've been to a hearing? >> No. >> Okay. I know that's not true. You had to have gone through the process, right? You reserved a 5-day notice. You reserved that. The deputies came out. They advised you. >> I talked to them >> and I know. And then you left, right? So, now the eviction's complete. Okay. You are not allowed to go back into that house. Okay? There's a court order. >> So, what about my rent? >> It's a civil thing. You're gonna have to go to uh small claims court. Okay. But I I can't do anything for you. The judge signed a court order saying that you were not allowed on the property. Okay. But and that's just that's what it is. Otherwise, it's a it's criminal. Okay. >> Criminal on who part? >> On your if you go back in the property, it's criminal on your part. It's it's a signed court order. I can't do anything about that. A judge signed the paper. Okay. >> I'm going back then, though. >> You're not Okay. I'm going back then. >> No. If you do, I have to take you to jail. >> All right. >> So, don't listen. Listen to me. Listen to me. Okay. This is important. Take it to small claims court. All right? Because if you go the other way with it, you're going to go to jail, man. >> I'm going to jail then. >> No. Look, man. You're not giving them a hard time. All right. You're giving me a hard time at that point. Right. >> He's giving you a hard time. >> No. No, he is not. >> Look, look, look what the >> You were lawfully evicted, right? >> I'm not lawfully evicted. >> You are lawfully evicted. You >> Mr. Black, >> what >> exactly? You were lawfully evicted. You cannot return to the property. All right. >> I'm going call the police. >> We're already here. >> I'm call the sheriff. >> They're not going to come out. Okay. >> They just left. They just left. >> I just spoke to them on the phone. Okay. There is a court order. You cannot go back on the property. >> I know what the sheriff told me. You I I appreciate you. I appreciate you. You call the sheriff and then everybody. >> All right. Thank you. >> What What did they say, sir? >> They going to send somebody out here. They just left. I was Thank you. >> I get it. cuz you you mad as you. >> I'm not mad. I just I I need you to understand. Okay. I don't want >> No, I get it. He don't get over it cuz the county just can't. You're not going to He going to get in trouble. You just doing your job and the county going to come out here. They're going to resist. >> Sir, sir, they're going to tell you the same thing I did. Okay. >> Exactly. Thank you. >> No, they're going to tell you the same thing I did. >> They're not. No, they're not. >> Yes, they are. >> 26. He's not trespassing as of right now. He's not committing any crimes. However, he's refusing to leave until he talks to one of the deputies from the eviction. >> Okay, give me give me one second. >> Apparently, the SSO was out here about an hour ago. Didn't really do a good job explaining to him cuz he still thinks that he's allowed back on his property >> and he doesn't understand why they're throwing his stuff out. I've tried to explain it. I called the civil unit. He just wants to talk to him. That's all he wants. He just wants him to come out here before he leaves. >> What does he want to know? I'm sorry. >> I I think he just wants the eviction explained to him cuz he left. They told him they were doing an eviction. He left. >> Police faced a delicate situation. One party felt threatened while the other kept escalating tensions by refusing to cooperate. >> I'm trying to find the best way to explain this. Okay. >> No, I'm I'm waiting on the counter. >> They're sir, they're not going to come out. They were already here this morning. So, all I can say is >> they said it was coming. That's what I'm trying to get you to understand. >> Who told you they're coming? >> I just called them. >> Okay. We I just I just talked to dispatch on the radio. They're not going to come out now. >> Well, I'm going to call them again. >> No, don't don't do that because >> county, man. >> But you have to have a different number. We're going to give you a number to call. Could you put Write it down and put it on the ground, please? >> Sure. We can do it right here. I can get it. >> Just give them that number. I mean, we can't answer any of these questions. All right. >> If So, they're not going to come. But here, here's the phone. >> I'm not going to file charges against those people. >> Put that on the ground. No, put it on the ground. I get it. I don't appreciate none of this blood. >> Well, I'm trying to help you out. >> You're not trying to help me, man. Put your on the ground. >> It's going to blow away. You can just >> pick it up. No. >> I'm going to call the sheriff. >> I I I don't like doing this. I've been here 40 plus years and I'm known to people. >> Yeah. >> I like people. If they're nice to me, I'll be nice to them. >> Call the sheriff. >> I can't. >> Yeah. >> Can't deal with somebody that won't talk to me. >> If you dial 911, you're going to end up going to jail. 911 right here. And there's not an emergency. >> Look. Come on. Here. Will you just here? How about this? >> You're being a little weird right now, man. Racism, man. You say none of this, man. me, man. >> Hold on. >> Sick of it, man. >> All right. >> I'm the ending, man. >> All right. See, look. >> You guys have to leave. >> So, if he stays here, what should I do? What would you do if you were in my shoes? Not as an officer. Just call 911 again. >> If he does anything, acts like he's going to do anything, presents it. >> Put the machete. >> It's in the bathroom. >> Put it somewhere else. Put it somewhere else. Any of his stuff that's going to go out the road, I would suggest trying to move it while we're here. That's what all we're trying to do is going to the sheriff. Come on, man. Look how much >> you're going to just leave it open. >> Watch my side. >> You're not going to watch it. >> What the hell just happened? Why did he open his tail? >> This is probably exactly what happened when he was being served the eviction. Probably just got all pissed off, put on his headphones, and walked away. The father did not realize that calling 911 without an emergency could be considered misuse of services. Meanwhile, the eviction order had been approved and any attempt to return only added legal complications. >> Sir, I'm the one that came out. I got it. I Eric, you're not you're not a part of this. You have no rights to the property anymore. I told you to stop calling 911 cuz it's not an emergency. We've already helped you. Now you're trying to file a false police report for a burglary. I am trying to help you so you do not commit crimes. How do you not understand that, man? >> What crime did I commit? >> Of 911. You're about to commit a filing of false police report. How? >> What do you mean how? >> You called 911 like eight times. >> When? >> Today. I I didn't call. How you know I called? You got to stop calling 911, man. >> I just lo >> because you told them that your house was robbed. Your house was not robbed. >> They're not robbing your house. You were evicted. >> Remember that sticker that you tore off the door? >> Do you want to go to jail today? Do you want to go to jail today? >> How many times I got to explain, man? Let me ask you a question. Do you want to go to jail today or do you want to just take your stepson and show him what it's like to be a good father and do the right thing? >> I'm not. He sees how you act. >> They changed the locks. You don't have access to that house. >> What do you talk about, dude? >> That is no longer valid. >> It's not your house anymore. You were evicted. >> My house and I own business, >> man. Did you do today? No, I got prescription medication. >> All right. Have you been taking it? >> No, I didn't take it. >> Why? I don't know how else to explain it to you. >> Because you were evicted. Does that word not mean anything to you? Do you not understand what that word means? It means you were legally removed from your residence. The other guy owns it. You were renting it. You no longer live there because he had you evicted. You told me you went to college, man. You know what that word means. >> Wait, how do I get evicted from paying my rent? Man, >> eviction has nothing to do with rent. >> They just told me to come over here. How did I You remember how I told you to solve that issue, right? >> No, because you told them the wrong information. You told them the wrong information. So, they told you the wrong information. >> This is insane, >> dude. Is he gone or is he just outside? >> He I think he's just outside. He might come back. And I asked him, I said, "Is this going to be something that I'm going to need to take you to jail for?" Except for what? I said, "I've already explained to 911. I've already explained what filing a false police report is. He keeps saying that they're committing a burglary at his house right now." >> Yeah. I think that is a mental instability on his part as far as a police report. So I don't think that he's knowingly willingly trying to deceive us by filing something false. It's just >> but he also wouldn't give me the statement. >> Okay. >> No. Hey, don't walk away. Don't walk away. Come here, man. >> No. We're going to have a conversation, man. You called 911 like 16 times today, man. >> Dude, I requested a county con and not request. It >> does not matter. You have been calling 911 after I told you. Told you explicitly. I explained how to remedy your situation. I told you you had to take him to civil court and you continue to call 911. Okay. >> I have a letter from the judge. >> It does not matter. That letter from the judge restricts you from being in that property. I have to underest. >> I want to let you know something. You are now under arrest. If you don't put >> right now, you're interfering with our lawful orders and you're putting the child between you and officers trying to place arrest. If you do not release the child immediately, you'll get a secondary charge for putting the child in. Do you understand? Do you understand that you're creating a charge for yourself by putting the child in >> what? What did I do? >> Because you're now under arrest. We're going to put you in handcuffs and you're stopping us from doing that by placing a child between you and officer. So right now if you keep the child between us and yourself that is going to be a secondary charge and that child will be taken away from you. Do you understand? So you understand that you're putting the child in >> I'm not putting him in. I'm in danger. I'm in fear of my life right now. >> You're putting a child of my life. >> How are you in fear of your life? >> Because somebody >> No, no, no. Right now you're talking. You tall, man. >> You want me to ride with him? >> I guess. >> This is This is ridiculous. The father was charged with childact, misuse of 911, and resisting arrest without violence. Under Florida law, he could face up to 7 years in prison and a fine of up to $7,000. Disputes over rental or residency rights should be resolved through civil court or legal guidance, not through confrontation or overuse of emergency resources. See what happens when custody rights are unclear and a child unintentionally becomes the focus of adult conflicts. >> I am homeless, but correct. You have a roof over your head asleep. Correct. Your son has a roof over his head asleep. Therefore, you are not homeless. >> On September 13th, 2024, authorities were called to a family after a disagreement between a mother and her son. So, his sister got mousy but he pushed me down. >> Okay. >> So, I just want him to take my son and do what he do for his kids cuz I have no words to go for him. >> Okay. >> Where what is your plan for tonight? >> My plan is to sleep in this truck right here. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> She came to my brother Job making a scene. His boss put a trespassing on her because what she doing here, she done to the job. >> I don't want her over here. I'm done with this. I'm tired of this. >> You know what I'm saying? I'm tired of it. $40. >> $40. My nephew don't want to be doing this. This boy was probably home asleep. He only have to tell you, my mommy told me to do this. >> I sure did. >> The first time she came here, she rolled up. OH, BROTHER. She's like in my brother face with her hand. So I'm like, he's like, "Get out her." He's like, "Man, get out my face." He was like, "Get out my face." He said, "Ya, I'm not I'm not going to put my hands on you." >> Her relatives disagreed, suggesting that she was not in an urgent situation, but was trying to maintain custody using questionable reasons. >> Are you baby daddy? >> No, I'm baby daddy. >> You're baby daddy? Okay. What happened? >> She just tripping cuz I told her that I'll give her the money tomorrow for the half cuts. So, she pulled up, jumped out trying to fight my sister. She got a trespass one at my job. So, this is an ongoing thing. I'm going over there right now with no shoes on. >> Is that the only kid? >> You know what I'm saying? No, I got four kids. >> Well, here right now. >> But you drag only. You only drag that one. >> So, you have four kids with her? >> You only drag that one out and bring him out like that every time. I got a 15-year-old. He's 11. >> Your sister lives here. >> My sister, this is my sister's res. I stay here temporarily. >> And your kids, all four kids are with you. >> No, they with her. >> They all came with her. No, they didn't. She brought one. She went, she left and went and bought one. >> The other three are at her house. She lives in Gford. >> But she say she ain't got she said she ain't got no place to live, though. >> No one was actually fighting or anything. This is all everybody talking. >> No, I ain't touching. >> I got you. >> I might have bumped them, but I >> never touched it. >> Sir, I really don't want them too involved. >> It doesn't matter. Please get back to your dude. What's your side of this? >> Me and my kids don't have anywhere to go. He said he would take care of them. her and him dropped my kids off cuz he didn't have nowhere for them to go to school. He didn't have no transportation. Therefore, I came here tonight to get a haircut so I could take my son to football game in the morning. So, I came over here. So, I went and got my son. I said, I'm going to drop him off here so he can be with his dad so we can get him together. I have nowhere to go. They talking about my grandparents house. I don't live there. >> This your truck? >> This is my boyfriend's truck. >> He doesn't have anywhere to go, but he has somewhere to go for my kids. He don't want to give me $40 for haircuts, but he agreed to take them. He dropped them off. My son needs to stay here until I find me somewhere to go. That's all I want to do. I don't want no confrontation. I don't want anything. But he pushed me down the ground with these freshly scrapes right here. And I might want to press charges cuz he was wrong. She is not homeless. So she came back with my nephew. This the same one she used him as bait. It's it's a totality. But she always used him as a baby. I took him home twice. Twice. They not homeless at all. She's trying to use that as for him to be here. He's not going to be here. This is my place. Tensions grew as the mother and others lacked a shared understanding of what constituted unstable housing. >> Can I speak to you real quick? >> Yeah, sure. >> What is the reason that you're here right now? >> Because I've been calling him all day. He's not on child support. I take care of four kids by myself. I have nowhere to live. >> You do have somewhere to live. >> I do not have anywhere to live. >> Well, your son is saying otherwise. >> He said that we at my grandparents house. Correct. >> Okay. So, you do have somewhere to live. >> I get put out tonight. Then what are we going to do? >> That's not how that works. >> That's how that works. My I got to go. I got to go. >> Florida state law. >> I understand what you're saying. no longer state law to go to the courthouse. >> They would have to go get evicted. So you do have someone tell me to go. I'm going to leave. >> Then that's on you. >> That's on me. So I'm not going to have my kids say that you are home. You have a roof over your head. Correct. Correct. >> Your son has a roof over his head to sleep. Therefore, you are not homeless. Homeless means you're sleeping on the street on the ground. You don't have anywhere to go. >> Homeless means we live in this truck. >> Okay. You tell me on a school night. >> It's not a school night. It's a Friday. Whatever. >> Well, you got to get it right. Well, you were talking and I'm not. >> You're bringing a child out here. Like I said, I went to out back. I'm done talking to her. This is Florida. This is America. >> Okay. Well, you can get trespassed from this property. I get trespass to jail. That's fine. But my son is going to stay here. >> That has nothing to do with me. I didn't say you could leave right now. Hello. I didn't say you could leave right now. >> But you can stay right here. Okay. Well, we're still investigating a dispute. So, you can go stand over there at the bed of your truck. I'm just telling you what's going to happen if you keep acting the way that you do. >> She's done talking to me. Are you done talking to me, ma'am? >> I said she's done. >> Hold on. We're not doing that. >> But I'm asking her if she's done talking to me. >> Well, you're not getting back in the vehicle. Please stay at your tailgate. >> If she done talking to me, >> I don't know. >> Well, could you ask her? >> No, we're just hanging out right here for a second. >> But I don't want to hang out. I got other kids to deal with. >> It doesn't matter. So, we got to figure out what actually took place here. >> Nobody's free to leave until we do. He agreed to take care of him at the at the outback, >> right? >> I don't know what they're talking about over there. >> I'm not talking about No, I'm talking to you. >> Well, I only got your side of this. >> You got that side, too? >> Not really. >> The only thing is that because there's no court paperwork, we can't force her. However, if you if neither of you take the child, we're calling DCF. >> Well, call him. That's That's what we want cuz he's trying to get his son because she got mad. She came here tonight her all in his face like this. She's disgusting lady. >> My brother say, "Man, gone on. Get out my face." We all sitting out here chilling. She come back here. You if you homeless, why you in that truck? >> She's not homeless. >> I know she ain't homeless. That's why the trespassing came in place because the boss is tired of him being out there to that job like this. >> Both parents were at a loss due to the absence of a clear court ruling. However, rather than seeking assistance from child services, the mother continued escalating the situation until legal consequences became unavoidable. >> So, if you want to call the self, call If your mom is going to be nicer this time around so you can go home and get some sleep. Your kid needs to go home and go to bed button. >> I have no home for him to go to. >> Yes, you do. You want >> You want DC? That's fine. >> That's insane. >> DCing. You're disgusting human being in your child. >> You have kids. >> It doesn't matter. >> I asked you a question. I would never treat a child. >> You have kids. That's not your business. None of your business >> because you're letting him watch all this this and you're not embarrassed. He's supposed to be with him. You're not embarrassed. >> He's supposed to be He's not embarrassed. >> There's no court order. >> He told him he would watch him. >> There's no court order. >> He told him he would watch. >> Listen, you have four kids. >> I have four. >> Okay. >> He has none with him. So, what makes him special? >> Listen. Can you stop talking? I'm trying to be nice. Can you stop talking so I could explain to you? >> You can't explain to me anything cuz you don't have kids. >> You guys started this and we came out here. >> But still, you have nothing to do with this. You stop talking so I can have a word in. You guys, you took this truck and you drove over here with your son in the middle of the night and started this chaotic I don't even know what is going on right now. You have four kids at home. You literally dreads one of them out of bed and came all the way over here to form this commotion in front of him, in front of the dad, in front of the aunt, in front of God. SO IF I GO TO JAIL TONIGHT, where he going? >> Why are you going to jail tonight? >> Where is he going if I go to jail? >> The dad. >> Okay, so take me to jail. Why would I TAKE YOU TO JAIL? CUZ THAT'S where he's going. Take me to jail. >> I'm not taking you to jail. >> HE'S GOING WITH HIS DADDY. I DON'T HAVE ANYWHERE FOR him to go. >> You're going with his father. He's going with his father. Take me to jail. He's going with his father tonight. >> Hey, you're not allowed to leave. >> I'm not leaving. >> Okay. Well, don't go in THE TRUCK BECAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S IN THERE. >> I'M just going to give my money to my best friend. Get my >> Come stand right here. >> I would rather go to jail and get my son tonight cuz I'm not taking him with me. >> You have three other kids at home and you rather go to jail. >> They're with my best friend. They're fine. >> Okay. So, bring the other one. >> No, they're with my best friend. They tried that last time. I gave two to him. >> That's crazy. >> They're kids, so why he can't take care of them? >> Why can't you? >> WHY CAN'T HE? [screaming] You >> Oh my god. >> Okay. So, what's the plan for tonight? >> He's going with his father. >> Okay. That's not going to happen. >> I'M I'M NOT HE'S NOT GOING WITH ME. >> HEY, just keep it down. All right. >> That's not fair. He agreed to take two and I TOOK THEM BACK. I HAVE FOUR KIDS AND I'M WORKING A FULL-TIME JOB. YOU CHOSE TO HAVE FOUR KIDS >> AND HE CHOSE TO have four, too. He's going with his father tonight. Like, he agreed. >> So, if he's telling me to be quiet, PLEASE TELL HIM TO BE QUIET, >> MA'AM. We got it. Thank you. >> So, football. What other sports you play? >> I play baseball. >> Does it? You like baseball? >> Yeah. >> This is insane. >> Exactly. >> I'm not talking about anybody else but you. >> No, you're not talking about me cuz you don't know me. You You're conversation. You don't know anything about me, honey. I'm a I know enough about you. I make more money than you. I don't care what I make. >> Then you could have a home and take care of your kids. I DON'T BECAUSE OF HIM. I UNDERSTAND what you're saying. I make $20 an hour on salary, but I don't care what you saying, but he going to take your son tonight. >> No, he not. >> You do understand that if nobody takes your child, DCF is going to come and keep them at some facility. >> That's fine. >> Mother of a year. >> Girl, you don't know me. I don't care what you say. >> Mother of the mother of the mother universe. I'm the mother of the universe, honey. >> Yeah. Okay. >> Yeah, I know. We're definitely notifying DCF. >> Oh, yeah. >> So, when this kind of stuff happens, like how's it how does it make you feel? >> Has this ever happened before? >> Two or three times. >> Is it kind of the same scenario? She just kind of said, "Hey, get in the car. We're gone." >> Yeah. >> All right. Do me a favor. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. So, >> what am I going to go for? >> Child. All right. You're going to walk to my place. >> Let's just walk over here. You don't have anything on your person that we need to know about? >> When you go to jail, they're going to do a full body scan. So, if anything shows up later, you're also going to get charged with that. >> The mother was charged with child black without great bodily. Under Florida law, she could face up to 5 years in prison or probation along with a [music] $5,000 fine. Proper care, compassion, and awareness of legal processes are essential not only for adults to understand their responsibilities, but more importantly to ensure the safety and future well-being of children. A moment of overstepping, a minor incident, and the career of a 58-year-old teacher ended in just seconds. >> No bond until first appearance. >> So, you have to go to first appearance, but you'll be able to ask the judge questions. On July 11th, 2025, Orange City, Florida, police were called to [music] a preschool after a parent reported that their child had been emotionally upset. Security footage showed a teacher acting in a way that frightened the child at school. Authorities quickly arrived to investigate. >> Somebody here. >> Hi. Can you come out for me? Come and step out for me. >> Go ahead and step out for me. I'll I'll let you call somebody. >> Okay. All right. Well, step out for me. Have to do this in front of my granddaughter. >> Come out for me. Is your granddaughter here? >> Yes. >> Okay. All right. We'll come this way. >> Please don't do this in front of her. >> If you want to, we can walk this way if you want. Is she inside? >> She's going to be alone. >> No. We will call somebody for you to come. >> I'll call. My phone's right there. >> No. You're going to be put in handcuffs and then we'll let you call somebody. Okay. >> Incuffs? >> Yes. >> She's going to see it. What? >> Okay. Just walk this way. >> Just walk that way. >> Are you kidding me? >> Go that way for me. >> Why does she have to see this? >> Well, she's inside. She's not going to see anything. That's why we're making you walk over here. Okay. >> How old is your granddaughter? She's only five. >> She's five. >> Where's her mom? >> She Oh, she's going away. >> She's going away. >> Yeah, she's They're going to Miami here and my son. They have They're going on the trip for the weekend. >> Okay. Where's your uh husband live? Or is he at work? >> Yeah. >> So, he lives here with you? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Where does he work at? >> At the finish. Why not? What's the charges? >> Child abuse. >> Child abuse. Yes. Same charges I told you about yesterday. >> Did you see the footage? >> I did. It does not show what you're telling me. >> How does it not? It's what happened. >> If you want to keep talking to me, that's fine. I just want to read you your rights. Okay. >> What? What? Can I call my husband so he could be on his way before >> you know your husband's phone number? >> Not by heart. It's in my phone. >> Okay. Where's your phone number? >> It's right there on the table. Can we come away from the public? Can we just stand in here? Can you Can I >> You said you don't want your grand seat right here if you want on the in the chair. >> Okay. It's on the table. >> It's right there on the Oh, no. She has it. Oh. Oh lord. Yeah, she has it. >> You want to go ahead and sit down? >> What's her name? >> Can you guys call the the on your phone? >> I don't know. >> We can just call the office. They'll call him. >> In response, the teacher offered an explanation and acknowledged the impact on the child, describing it as minor, an account that did not fully match witness observations. >> I'm not going to go anywhere doing that. >> I don't understand. >> I'm going to have Officer Sodto read you your rights first before we keep talking just cuz it's a requirement. All right. Obviously, we'll talk to you. I just want to make sure. >> Can we stop calling my husband so he can be on his phone? >> Officer's going to do that now. >> Tell him they have to the office has to put him on the phone and he can come so I can tell him what's going on cuz if he doesn't know what's going on, he's not going to come. >> Okay. I'm going to read you something. Okay. >> Yeah. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court. You have the right to have an attorney with you with you prior to, during, or after any questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney and desire one, the court will appoint one for you. You may stop the question at any time by refusing to answer further by requesting to consult with your attorney. Do you understand each of these rights I explained to you? Having these rights in mind, do you wish to answer any questions or make a statement at this time? >> No, I didn't. I wasn't listening, but it's okay. No. >> No, you don't want to talk or you don't understand your rights. You want to read them right? >> Okay. All right. Just want to make sure. >> I don't understand. How did you not see what I said on the footage? I don't understand. I pulled I tugged on her ear. >> If you're telling me you don't want to talk to me, I can't talk to you. I do want to talk to you. >> Okay. All right. I just want to make sure. >> I do want to talk to you. I don't understand. How do did you not see I tugged on? I don't know. What is that? Trying to get in my >> um I tugged on her hair. If you saw it, I think we were having snack or something and I was telling her about pulling the hair. That's all that happened. >> Okay. It just didn't happen the way you're explaining it. And I understand you you're admitting that you pulled her hair, but you pulled her hair pretty hard. Fall to the ground. >> She fell to the ground. She was sitting down. >> Okay. >> She was she not sitting down? >> No, she was standing. >> I could have remembered she was sitting down, but she didn't cry. Did she cry in the video? >> You can't see in the video cuz her face is down pointing down. >> She was sitting down. We were eating either snack or lunch when it happened if I remember correctly. I I never got the opportunity to see the video. Diane refused me to see it. Did you ask Diane to see it? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> I asked her to see it, but I've never seen it. She refused to let me see it. Am I going to be able to get dressed? >> You're You'll go like that. >> No way. Can I just put on a t-shirt and sweats? I don't have no clothes underneath, ma'am. >> No, I understand. But they're going to change you anyways when you get to the >> I don't want to go like this. This is a night gown. I might even I can't. You guys can even help me get dressed. I don't need to come out of cuffs. I can tell you where everything is. Just a t-shirt over. That's right. >> I need to see if he's getting in touch with >> he's trying. Okay. >> Do you know if I'll get a bond? >> Uh, yeah. Let me look at the paper. >> Just Just keep keep on, please. >> You should have a bond, though. >> These cuffs are really me so bad. I have a problem with this shoulder. I don't need to be cuffed. I'm not going anywhere. I'm not I mean, I I'm going to go with you guys. >> It's unfortunate. It's just part of the process. Okay. I understand you say you're not going to go nowhere, but this just how we do everything together. >> Hey, I have your your wife here. I'm going to put her on the phone. >> Okay. >> I need you to get in your car and come over here right now because they have to take me in and I can't leave Arya by herself. >> Okay, I'm ready. I I need it right now. >> Hurry up. >> Okay, thank you. It'll just take him like maybe five or seven minutes. >> That's fine. We know it's right there. >> So, you have no bond until first >> 11 Bravo 10 at >> No way. >> So, you'll have first appearance later today cuz you missed this morning's first appearance cuz this morning's first appearance. >> So, first appearance is today. >> You'll have they'll have another first appearance today. Yes. >> What time do you know? >> Usually they do it at around 1 2:00. No. >> So one 2:00 will will that be in court or TV or something in court? >> Yeah. So they'll transport you to the courthouse and you'll go to court or actually I don't even know how they do it now. They might even do it at the jail >> because I have I have other teachers that want to vouch for me and are willing to come to the court. >> Okay. Well, that doesn't have to do with first appearance. That's after first appearance. >> First appearance is just to discuss everything and then they'll set another court hearing and then you'll go to court for that. >> Okay. as you want to go. >> All right. >> Thank you. >> Appreciate it. Thank you. >> Move your car. Sure you can. >> No way. >> Despite years of experience and plans to change careers, this incident quickly led to legal proceedings, abruptly ending her teaching career. So, who wanted to file the charges with this? >> The parents. >> The parents, not the school. >> Just the parents. >> You saw the footage today? >> I saw it yesterday. >> Yesterday. >> Yesterday. >> Who was there? Joanne or Diane or both? >> Uh, they both were there. >> So, they knew that I was going to get arrested. >> I mean, they had an idea. I mean, I didn't tell them we were going to arrest them, so I'm not required to tell them. But, I mean, I'm sure they had an idea about it. I worked for that school for almost 7 years. >> What? Since 2019? >> Yep. Yeah, I did. So, I bend over back. I mean, it wasn't the school fault. The school was amazing, but it's just the way everything worked out for me. I was at my end. I just finished school. I was going to work for Trinity for Trinity Academy. >> I was going to say, why'd you put your two weeks in? So, I know they said you put your two weeks in. >> Because of that. because I just got hired at Trinity and that was my dream job which I probably don't know if I'll get because of this. >> You don't know if I'll be able to work in school ever again. >> That I have no idea. I can't tell you yes or no. That would be up to the school if they won't allow it and what happens with the charge. Will I be able to get dressed? >> Will you allow me to get dressed? >> We'll let you get dressed. >> Thank you. I mean, I know I'm going to get that uniform thing at the jail, but you know, just walking in like that with my night gown and all. I don't know if they allow me to to leave the bra my bra on with the uniform. You know, >> sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. I don't think they do, but they do at all. I don't think they do. But >> they'll probably give you something over there to replace it, but I don't know. Pretty sure they won't let you keep it on. >> Oh, they underwear. I'm not sure. They've changed stuff so much over the past couple years. >> I leave nothing with wires or nothing for >> That's good to know. I will live with mine. >> Oh my goodness. You think I'll get a bond when I see the judge at the first appearance? >> I would think. I would think. >> You don't know how much you have any idea? >> Judges can they do what they want. They can set it for what they want. They don't have to go by the guidelines. I have specific guidelines I have to follow. But at the end of the day, the judge can make the ultimate decision on what the bond is >> or if they want you to stay in. I don't think I don't think you're to society. So, I don't see them keeping you incarcerated until the court date. Um, so you'll probably get a bond most likely. You'll probably have certain restrictions like you can't have any, things like that, any ammo, anything. Obviously, where you're staying, things like that. That'll probably be put in place. I I can't go out of my house, like out of the state. >> That you'll have to ask. I wasn't planning to go out of the state, but we would we just had things planned when my granddaughter like barbecues at my nieces and I mean, but everything is in Florida. >> You should be fine then as long as long as the judge is okay with it. So, it looks like they put in here for your release if they were to give you a bond, no contact with the victim and or her family, and no unsupervised contact with unrelated miners. So unrelated would be unrelated to you is the way I would understand. >> As long as they're not related to me, >> I would think I would verify that with the judge. That way you have a better understanding. But that's what I'm gathering and what the judge put in here. >> So So what's the bond? Is that the bond? >> No, this is no bond. No bond until first appearance. >> So you have to go to first appearance. But you'll be able to ask the judge questions in first appearance. Just ask as many questions as you want to ask. That way they can answer them for you in full depth. >> Okay? You know, this is a very good reason to sue that school. I really believe because just the way the way the whole thing went happened is so unfair to me. And I really believe this has happened. Not I don't know about like this drastic, but like other teachers, they got written up if they hit a child or one of the other teachers. I'm not throwing nobody under the bus, but she pulled him roughly by the arm and they just get written up. They just got written up by Diane. No one's ever called DCF or Diane tried to talk the parent out of it. You know, she talked him down. It's okay. I'll handle it. But none of this was done with me. And I know it was because I wanted to leave because I put my notice in. It wasn't a 2 weeks notice. I gave them 30-day notice because I offered to keep to prepare my class before I left. And I did. I have the lesson plans right there on my table that I just did. 4 weeks of lesson plan for August. No teacher ever does. But I gave her a 30-day notice and she constantly kept trying to convince me not to leave. She kept, you know, she wanted to match what Trinity was offering. We'll give you the raise. We'll do 17. What are they offering? Constantly bringing me in the office. Try to convince me not to go. And I I explained it nice. He had nothing to do with the job. It's just it was room for me to move up at Trinity. There's no room at a preschool to move up. You know, I wanted to one day experience working with three, third graders, fourth graders. You can't do that at the preschool. But she wouldn't understand that. And I knew she was very upset that I wanted to leave. And they were fishing for something. They were fishing until this happened, unfortunately. And she jumped right on it. The way she dismissed me and told me to just get off the property and didn't even allow me to see the footage, I think is against the law. >> No. You have to understand, she's not required to show you the footage. She's not >> she's not required to show you the footage. Okay. >> How do I defend myself then? I didn't see it. Didn't see the footage. >> If you get an attorney, then an attorney should be able to get a copy of it so they can review it. >> So, I'll be >> But but at the end of the day, you have to understand, too, that they have specific guidelines that they have to follow. >> I know she contact they're required to contact law enforcement for certain things. So, they do have different things they have to follow as well. Um, I think the parents were really adamant and the parents were the ones that brought it to the offic's attention cuz they ultimately had no idea what happened until the parents came in and and spoke and then they went video surveillance as to what happened. >> Yeah, that's what she said. But I still feel if I wasn't leaving Diane would have she would have talked them down. She >> So you're saying they've talked other parents down in the past? Yes. >> Uh I I believe so. >> You believe or you know? >> I believe. I'm not sure. I know that it's happened where the the the Well, let me talk to him. Tell him what to do with my granddaughter. >> During the process, police ensured the teacher's basic rights and provided necessary support to prevent undue distress. >> Do you want him to grab you clothes or do you want me to grab you clothes? >> Where am I going to get dressed at? >> I mean, >> I can't go into my bathroom. >> I mean, we're not going to take the handcuffs off. You know, >> if I don't, >> we can handcuff you up front. >> Yeah. Hi. >> I'm okay. I'm okay. We just need to do this as quickly as possible. >> Ara's in her room with my phone cuz she was just looking at videos so she didn't have to see this. They're going to let me get dressed, but they do have to take me in. I don't go to court until 1:00 this afternoon. Either way. Yeah. >> So, you get a bondsman. >> Yeah. You can contact a bondsman after we get processed. >> Yeah. Do what you got to do. You You have the money. Call Gary, whoever you need to call. Whoever you need to call and just try to >> try to be positive with Arya. >> You want to put her make sure the door shut so when we walk her inside so she can get dressed, she doesn't see her. >> Yeah. Go in the room with I don't know what you're going to say. Just say >> you got to go. You got to go some place. >> Yeah. I got to go someplace to show the officer something. >> You want to pick up our front? >> We're going to go stand up and we try to stand up. >> You want to take the jacket off of you? Oh, >> or the road. >> Thank you. >> I'm going to handcuff you in the front. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Oh my goodness. My shoulders so bad right now. >> Put the hand to the front. Go ahead and turn around. Face me. You want to take your robe off and then I'll toss it back on you? >> Yeah. >> Give me I got to take off the rope, right? >> I'm going to have her take it off. >> You want to slide your straps down too? That's why you were able to take your dress off or are you leaving that on? >> I'm going to get dressed inside. >> You're going to get dressed, but I'm not taking the handcuffs off you once we go inside. That's what I'm saying. >> Oh, so you want me to take the robe off here? The night gown off here. >> Pants, I guess. >> You just You can just toss pants on. >> Yeah. And I'll just toss this t-shirt on top of the robe. >> They're going to take it all off anyway. Okay, I'm just going to try to cover them. This is she. Shortly after, the preschool terminated the teacher's contract and informed DCF to safeguard the children's well-being. Go straight to this car. >> Outside your way that way. >> Oh, my neighbor. >> The police here. >> Yes, ma'am. >> I'm going to put her on your shoulder. Okay. The teacher faced charges of child without great bodily harm and was held at Valuchia County Branch Jail. She was released on July 12th, 2025 under a pre-trial support program without bail. Under Florida law, the charge carries up to 5 years in prison and a maximum [music] $5,000 fine. A safe school environment is a shared responsibility. Oversight and professional standards are essential boundaries that must never be crossed. The other drunk behind the wheel. For some, it seems motherhood comes mixed with alcohol. >> So, how how much more have you been drinking? Cuz I see you got that that container right there. >> Not much. >> On January 10th, 2024, Illinois police received multiple calls about a swerving vehicle nearly causing accidents. They quickly located the car at a gas station and approached the driver, a woman named Jalisa. But when the car door opened, the truth behind the wheel left them stunned. >> Hello, Officer Rogers Clinkfield Police Department. Driver, license proof insurance. Any reason why I'm stopping you today? >> No. >> No. Got reports that you were all over the road. You almost hit another vehicle and I see you coming down the middle of 143rd. Is there any reason you were driving like that today? >> No, I was texting. >> You were what? >> I was texting. >> You were texting? >> Yes. >> Had anything to drink today? >> No. >> Nothing at all? >> No. So, if you were to submit to a preliminary breath test, you'd blow zeros, right? >> Yeah. >> Where are we coming from? >> I'm coming from my mom's house. >> Coming from your mom's house? >> Yeah. >> Okay. All right. Hold on to that. All right. She smell like anything or no? I got like a whiff in the car of it. She seems like she's a little slow, too. >> She was coming down the middle of um 143rd when I saw her. She got called in as a reckless. Got called in, almost hit another vehicle. I got a little bit of it in the car. Not like anything much, but she also seems like she's a little like slow. So, I might run her through fields here. I don't know if there's a spot in the shell that we can walk in there and see, but I'll see if he wants this and wants to do fields on her. If not, I'm going to do fields. I'll probably bring her inside. She's got a kid in the back. So, >> she's got a kid in the back. That's all I >> So, I might have to have you stay with the kid and just stay with my squad out here. Can you go ask her for her insurance again? Let me know if you smell anything cuz she was still looking for it. >> Do you mind if we see her insurance again? >> Yeah, he I >> just got to check and see. He He gave it to you or you gave it to >> I gave it to him. >> Does he still have it? >> What is is this? >> This is something else. It might be this, too. I have a choice on it. >> Okay. Yeah, we just wanted to check and see. All righty. Sounds good. Just sit tight for us. Okay. >> Things took a darker turn. She had been drinking and driving with a six-year-old child in the car, and yet she still tried to excuse herself. I have a learning disability. And called her mother for help. Hey, unless you want to do fields, I'm going to try and bring her in shell and do it. I just thought I'd offer it to you. It's been a while for me. I'll run her inside and Michelle. I'm probably going to have him stay here with the kids. You want this me to help you or you want me to do it? >> I can do it. Connor, do you want to do this? Is your comfort? >> Go ahead. >> I think he's getting you guys. I could I could smell some. >> Okay. >> So, >> I'll have you do it then and then I will help you if you're comfortable with it. I have improper lane so I can do that. >> Hello, Jalisa. Jalissa. >> Yes. >> All right, man. I'm going to have you step out real quick. Okay. talk out here. >> How old is your trial for today? >> Six. >> Six. Okay. >> Yes. I have a second today. >> All right. Got you. Just have you step out real quick. All right. So, how how much more have you been drinking? Cuz I see you got that that container right there. >> Not much. >> All right. So, you >> you had that. Just hang up the phone right now. Okay. >> Yeah. But, um I have a disability, so I need my mom to be on the phone with me. >> Okay. So, how much we had a drink? >> Not much. >> Okay. We had that though. What else? Let's step over. Can you hang up the phone, please? >> I have a phone. I have a disability. >> You have a disability? >> Yeah. >> What uh what disability do you have? >> I have a learning disability. >> Gotcha. What learning disability do you have? >> All I know is learning disability. >> All right, Jalisa. So, I'm going to have you do Can I have these documents you have in your hand, please? >> You want to go inside? >> Mom, can you get up? >> We're going to walk inside the shell. Okay. I want you to stay warm. >> Okay. My turn. >> Yeah. We got an officer right here. Another officer over here. The DUI test was conducted right inside a nearby Circle K store. But from the very first steps, the mother failed to follow even the simplest instructions. So, how much you had to drink today? >> Not that much. >> How much is not that much? >> One shot. >> One shot of what? >> Uh 99 watermelon. >> One shot of 99 watermelon. And then you had that. Was that Mike's hard? >> Mike's hard. >> Okay. All right. So, you had both of those things today? >> Yeah. >> We can call here Here's the deal. We'll call her back. No, cuz I have a date to pick with me and I want my mom to make it what it was. >> Okay, she's on the way. Okay, hang up the phone now. >> I don't know what to do about the little guy in the back seat. How old is he? >> I don't know. I don't know. I haven't talked to him at all. He's not even buckled in either. >> Okay. >> No, I I understand. That's why I'm talking things through with you. So, you said you had a shot of watermelon. Okay. And then you had the mics hard. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Gotcha. Are you diabetic? >> No, not diabetic. Okay. Now, do you have any problems with your knees, hips, back? >> Nope. Knees as far as the knees cuz I got in a car accident 21 22 maybe. >> Okay. Do you have anything diagnosed for them? Anything for the >> um I'm showing the other car for my knee? >> Okay. But anything diagnosed? No, they just just have knee pain. >> Okay, gotcha. How about hips? >> No hips. >> Back? >> Nope. >> Any recent surgeries? >> No. >> So, I'm going to I'm going to have you do make you do some tests real quick. Just make sure you're going to drive. Everything's okay. Send your butt your way. All right. What you're going to do, you're going to look at the tip of my pen with your eyes and your eyes only. You're going to follow the tip of this pen with your eyes only. Do you understand? >> Yeah. >> Make sure you make sure you follow. >> Make sure. Make sure you follow it. Okay. >> Follow the tip of my pen. >> And I do have eye problems. I'm cartsided and everything else. Okay. >> And I do have credit. >> Okay. Just keep looking at the pen. Okay. >> Okay. >> So, for this next set of tests that I'm going to have you do is just imagine there's a straight line here. Actually, you may be able to use this line. Use this line right here. Okay. So, whenever you're ready. >> One 2 3 4 5 6 6. I can turn around. >> Do you remember what I instructed you to do? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Just just follow the instructions. >> I just want to make sure I can turn around. That's all. >> Just follow the instructions. How you remember? Okay. >> Okay. >> And then one, two, three, four, five. 6 8 9 >> done. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I did cuz I got a disability and I have a disability with math, too. So, >> Okay. All right. So, I'm not I'm not going to have you do any math equations today. So, we don't have to worry about that. Okay. >> Then came the counting exercise. 1008 1. Apparently [music] 1009 was off on vacation, missing out on her little performance. >> All right, so for this next test, what you're going to do, you're going to put your heels together like I'm doing. Put your hands at your side. >> So what you're going to do, you're going to raise either foot left or right in front of you approximately 6 in from the ground. The foot you raise is going to maintain parallel with the ground. You're going to look down at that foot and you're going to count out in this manner. 1,00 1 1,002 1,003 1,004 until I tell you to stop. So nope, you understand? Can I do a prank? Cuz I want to I want to make sure I'm doing this right cuz I'm I say it I'm not good at math. >> So no, we we don't we don't do practices for the test. That's why I'm asking you any questions. Can I demonstrate for you? >> Okay. So one more time. >> Do you understand the instructions? >> A little bit. Yeah. >> Okay. What don't you understand? >> You said hold up for 1,000 and ch. >> No. Until I tell you to stop. >> No, I know that. But I'm saying up to a,000. from one to two. >> You're no, you're going to keep counting in that manner until I tell you to stop. 1,00 1,002 100,00 Okay, but do you do you understand that part now? >> Yeah. 1 >> until I tell you to stop. Okay. You're going to keep counting. >> All right. >> Just one leg >> like I demonstrated. >> Yes. >> Yes. You're going to raise one one leg, one foot in front of you. >> Okay. >> Do you understand my instructions? >> That's why I'm asking a question. No, that's okay. >> That's my last question. >> I demonstrated for you. >> Can you let me >> let you what? >> I'm just acting me doing this and looking down. That's what you want. >> Yeah. So, but make sure you're counting out loud in the manner that I told you to. >> And you're going to keep the foot you raise parallel to the ground. Maintain both your legs straight. Okay. All right. So, whenever you're ready, you can start a test. Okay. >> Yep. Just let you know. >> Just start test whenever you're ready. >> One. >> Make sure you look down your foot. >> I looking at my feet. That's why I was trying to make sure. Okay. 2003 456708 10 11 2012. >> Or you can stop. Okay. So, you had one shot. No, that was about like an hour or two. >> So, were you drinking the mics hard as you were driving? >> No, not as I've been driving as much as I could before I started. >> Oh, before you started driving, then you just placed it in the car. Okay. >> And then [snorts] the breathalyzer told the whole story, leaving no room for excuses. >> So, I got one more test. This is a breathalyzer test. So, if you're saying you only had one shot about 2 hours ago, it's going to show that. Okay. All right. So, I'm going to go get that real quick. >> Here's your phone. I'll be right back. All right. All right. So, for >> this for this final test. All right. What are you going to do? You're going to wrap your lips around the straw. >> Hold on. >> Okay. >> But can we leave? We gave it to my mom. I want to make sure my mom will. >> I just want to make sure she get here with my grandson. >> I understand that. >> Yes. She's on her way. Okay. >> I know. But she was at work. >> She's coming. >> She have to deal with I don't want to get behind nothing cuz she had my back. >> Okay. Let's do this and you can get back to your your I mean take talk to your son. Okay. >> All right. So, whenever you're ready, keep going. Okay. Stop. >> Um we got to re we got to redo it. >> Spread it out a little. >> You got to keep blowing like it's it's got to be consistent. >> You telling you you're explaining. >> So, you try to just blow. We're just trying to make you understand. You're going to wrap your lips around it. Okay? And you're going to continually to blow like this. >> I thought I was supposed to hold it. See, I thought I was supposed to hold it. >> And then he'll tell you when to stop. Okay? >> You got to keep blowing. >> See, that's what I don't I don't >> What you're doing is you're doing one big blow and then you're stopping right away. So, it's got to be continuous blow. >> You got >> I didn't move still. >> You You move back. You got You let the shaw go out of your mouth. That's why it restarted. >> I don't know how to do this. My first time doing it, so I don't know. >> All right. So, whenever you're ready. >> No. Keep going. Keep going. Keep going. There you go. Got it. Thank you. >> Yeah. >> All right. But can I call my mom? >> Yeah. When we get there, we'll be able to call her. >> I don't want my child left by itself. >> No, no, no. We have officers here. >> The mother was arrested on two serious charges, DUI and child. Under Illinois law, she could face up to one year in jail, a $4,000 fine, or a minimum of 25 days of community service. >> I don't see my mom car yet. I need my mom. I don't see your car yet. Can y'all call her? I need my mom. Can I get my mom? >> Can we not leave here till my mom get here, please? Can we not leave till my mom get here, please? Can y'all let her know she could just come get me from here? Did y'all let her know? >> We told her everything. Okay. >> Okay. I just want to make sure. Take a deep breath. >> No matter [snorts] how tough life gets, alcohol and reckless behavior are never the way out. One moment of poor judgment [music] can steal a child's entire future. Choosing to change means giving both yourself and your child a chance at a better life. Some mothers do everything to protect their children. And then there's Kiana, who turned drunkenness, arrogance, [music] and disorder into her personal recipe for motherhood. >> Can you call someone, please? On November 17th, 2022, a 911 call reported an child. Carl'sbad police were immediately dispatched to the scene and knocked on the door of a hotel room. The door opened. The mother stood there expressionless [music] next to a boy with a head in. >> Open the door. Police department. Police department. He is my man with all respect, but you're chewing gum and everything. Like, he's okay. He's going to be fine when he's lost. So, I don't know. Yeah. I don't know what's going on. I don't know. I It's not nothing against you, man. But for me to for you to be chewing on him and saying he's okay and he is so your child now, it would be something different. >> His son is just a little bit so they can get to him, please. Do you guys mind me being here? >> No. >> Okay, thank you. >> The child mumbled. I fell. But it was the mother's strange demeanor and unsettling gaze that truly raised red flags. >> What happened? >> Baby jumping around and then I fell. >> You fell. Can I look? >> Did you bite your lip? >> No. >> No. Can I do that? >> It's not going to hurt. Yeah, it's just water, buddy. He's just going to pat your head. Okay. >> You know you're tough. They have been way better than you. I didn't call. I didn't call you. My son just heads. I have been getting my son some clothes. So, you don't need to tell me. >> Kiana began to resist, creating a tugofwar between responsibility and where the child's cries blended with her irrational scream. Do not touch my son without my permission. And just like that, she was convincingly escorted away. >> Let's get into my son's me. And if not, can you give me some other officer other than him, please? I do not want to do with him. And if I have to do with him, then I'm not going to do it. So, give me someone other than him. I have to be by. >> But what was [snorts] more horrifying was what police saw inside. filth, beer cans, and stains scattered everywhere. Yet outside the car, Kiana shamelessly screamed, "You my son." as if she were the real victim of the system. >> But uh yeah, the room is, like I said, it's got trash on the floor, empty beer cans on the floor. Get your camera and start taking photos of this. >> Yes, sir. >> Listen to me. What's your first name again? >> Kiana. >> Kiana. Officer. >> Yes, ma'am.
