I finally fell asleep and I was eating all these weird things. We just walked home. So, I don't know like what was like real and what's not real. I don't know if I was dreaming. I've been doing this for 12 years and I've never been in this situation before. It's 2:00 p.m. in Oshkosh, Wisconsin when police respond to a disturbing call where one alleged nightmare has just become a startling reality. wrong with you? Why am I asleep, bro? I saw something. No. Right. Is it just the three of you? Okay. Help me. Please. Please help. Yep. Ambulance is downstairs. 403 if you can come up. Copy. Everything's calm with Where are you hurt? I can't. I'm getting lightheaded. Help. Where's my brother? He's downstairs. Can we tell him to call my dad, please? Have you got shoes or something? You can They're downstairs. Okay. Oh, please. They're coming. Can we go? We got to go. We got to go. I can't see. Yep. Medics are coming upstairs. Is this your stuff? Yeah. Do you have an ID in here? No, it's in the car. Please help me. [Music] Police identify the suspect seen here as 21-year-old Morgan Lond, who allegedly stabbed her ex-boyfriend 19 times with a pair of scissors while he was sleeping. Morgan, can you tell me a little bit more about No. No. [Music] And why is that? You feel why? Why are you saying no? I don't understand what you're reacting to right now. Are you just scared about the situation or do you not want to talk to me? [Music] I want my dad. I want my dad to come here. Okay, I understand that. But you're you're an adult. I know. So, I need you to make your own decision about whether or not you're going to talk to me. Okay. What What do I need to tell you? The questions that I was asking. What kind I was I was sleeping and then it I don't know. I was like half awake. I bring her out here every morning. Uhhuh. And I mean, I've seen the same thing before. Anything like that? You have seen the same thing before? Okay. Have you ever had any kind of medical treatment for anything like that? Have you seen a doctor, a psychologist, counselor, anything like that? Too embarrassed to talk to anybody. Okay. Do you remember coming out here? And were you asleep immediately? We're coming out here again. Okay. At 6:00 a.m. I got out at 6:00. And then you went back to bed. Is that right? Yeah, I went back to bed. I didn't I didn't get much sleep last night. I don't know why. Okay. Then I finally fell asleep. And you And you what? I finally fell asleep and I was seeing all these weird things. No. He's blood all over me. But you don't remember coming back out. But you do remember seeing something. It was like it was like in my head though. I don't It wasn't real. That's what I was like, what is going on? I didn't know what was happening. [Music] Can you describe for me what you saw? I was like, I don't know. Oh, like something black. Should you put the scissors on? No, it's still there. And then I felt like I don't know. But it was like then I was like, is he attacking the thing that I saw? I don't know. I was all confused. Like I was I thought I saw something that wasn't happening. I don't know. I'm going to ask you to do a favor for me. Okay. Can you come over in front of this white wall so that my friend here can take some pictures of you? Morgan tells the officer she believes she was quote dreaming when she says she saw something in the room before waking up covered in blood. Police said the victim ultimately survived the attack, but Morgan is not exactly off the hook. How long have you had those? Like a year or like a half of a year? I don't know. [Music] Half of a year. Like this past year it started happening. I don't know. Okay. You're 21. Yeah. So 2022 it started. Whenever you see things like that, I need my dad. I need my dad to come. Okay, we'll try to get right up. Not just [Music] Oh my god. Oh my god. Oh my god. So, whenever you see these things, um, how do you feel? I I just felt like my like my heart was beating really fast. I'm really scared. Okay. And I feel like some like completely somebody else. You feel like somebody else. It's not even me. Emma, I wouldn't do that. I wouldn't do that. I don't want to hurt [Music] anybody. Oh my god. Why happen to me? Next, the officer asked Morgan to describe what she saw when she shares some eerie details. Do you usually see the same thing? I feel like somebody else. It feels like it's not even me. If you had to physically describe what you were seeing, like big or small, black or white, gray, blue, whatever. Like a like a blob. Like a blob. Like a black blob. A blob, but like a figure. Okay. I don't know. I have something. I have something. Do you see a dark figure? But it doesn't look like a person. Am I understanding that right? It's just sort of the the shape. I can hear I can hear I can hear him. And then I came out and I saw something like over him. So I don't know like what was like real and what's not real. Well, I don't know if I was dreaming, but the other experiences that you've had have been when you were awake. Yeah, we're like half awake. Okay. Right before you went to bed or right after you woke up? Both. Both. But it's usually never do that without that. But it's usually that same sort of dark figure that you see. Yeah. But it's like it's like there's some it's something in my head. It's not like I don't know how to explain it. But when you see it, your heart beats really fast and you you feel afraid. And I I just feel like like something's taking over me like I don't know. And now it's like everything's normal. And that happens every time. What is going on? Hey, by the way, what do the body cams that we cover prove? Maybe that the world is unpredictable. And I'll tell you what, with that in mind, having a great lawyer matters, and that is where our great partner and sponsor, Morgan and Morgan, comes in. This is a firm with over a thousand attorneys. You know why they have so many? Because they win a lot. The past few months, Morgan and Morgan secured a $9.3 million verdict for a car crash victim in Florida, a $5.6 million verdict for another car accident victim in Atlanta, and not to mention $1.8 million in Kentucky after insurance offered them a mere $5,000 in that case. And even if you think your case isn't worth millions of dollars, why not start a claim and fight for what you deserve? Morgan andorggan makes it so simple. You can start a claim from your phone in just eight clicks. So, if you're injured, you can easily start a claim at forthepeople.com/lcbodycam channel or click the link in the description and pinned in the comments. Where did you get the scissors from? Do you remember? It was right It was right next to him on the on the sofa. I didn't like go looking like he was right there. When I came in, he was sitting over here. Is that where he was sitting when you Okay. Oh my god. I was I was not trying to trying to help with him. Oh my god. I would never hurt anybody. I believe you. It's not that simple. But I'm not going to be able to see her right this minute or ever. That's not That's not likely to happen. What's going to happen? I don't know. But obviously at this point it's important that you that you see a a doctor and get assessed, right? [Music] But they do have I want it to be normal again. Yeah. they can give me like medications and they make medications specifically for if you if you are seeing things that you know aren't there um they can give you stuff that helps address that specifically. Have you had other things that you don't think are there like you're where you're hearing voices or not really hearing voices? No. And does the figure ever speak? It's like like makes noises like dark noises, deep voice, but not like saying anything. Okay. Oh, I just want [Music] I wasn't trying to do that. I was not trying to do that. You weren't trying to do what ended up happening, you mean? Okay. [Music] Another officer checks in with Morgan's brother who was in the apartment at the time of the incident. Let's see what he has to say. I'm freaking out. Okay. Is that your sister? Yes. Okay. So, what happened? Um, I'm just sleeping. You were sleeping? Okay. Sleeping and I hear screaming. I thought they were just fighting like normal and it starts getting loud a lot loud. What the hell was he screaming back at her? It was kind of like a I don't even know like get off help. I I just got And that was him saying that. I don't even remember. Okay. And open the door. They're on top of each other. What do you mean on They both were on top of each other. He was like on top of her trying to take the knife out of him or something. I don't know. Okay. So, okay. How was she positioned? Like when you say when he was on top of her, was he like straddling her? Yeah. He like had a wrist down and then holding her wrist like straddling her like that. Okay. And then was he bleeding already at that time? Yeah. Where was he bleeding? Where'd you see his arm and stuff? And then I had seen the couch. [Music] Go over there. I don't even know. She's That was like when it was ending. Okay. Was she saying anything at this time? She's just freaking out. I don't know. She's saying she doesn't know what happened. She that she was seeing stuff, having a dream or something, and then realized it was real. Okay. Does she suffer from mental health? I think since she's had a kid cuz they That's their kid. Yeah. And then I just went out there, ran, call the cops. Okay. So, back with Morgan, officers get ready to take her to the police station. Like my dad's taking her for the next two nights. Where am I staying? I'm not sure yet. I'm not sure yet. I'm not going to lie to you about that. Okay. I'm not going to stay here or at my dad's I don't know. [Music] And flip-flop for shoes. You said something like that. Oh, they're downstairs. Okay. They're downstairs. Okay. [Music] I probably need another bag. Do you have anything in that pocket? Is there something in [Music] there? It's a zipper for my jacket. [Music] We're ready to go. Morgan, um the other officer is going to grab your things. Uh we'll put your shoes on downstairs. I don't want you to misunderstand it. I don't want you to be scared. I am going to put handcuffs on you before we get in the car. Uh because of the policies we have for transporting people who aren't free to leave, but I will take them off when we get to the police department. So, you're going to have them on for maybe 10 minutes. What do you need to put on for flip-flops or shoes? So after the two days, we'll work through it. We'll just work through it. So you guys, you know what's going to happen. We don't actually genuinely what's most likely in this in this. We don't ever know to be honest. We've been lying to you before. My dad worked for a prison for so long and I work at the mental health institute. I I've seen like things like this and I I just want to know like what's most likely going to happen to me. I've been doing this for 12 years and I've never been in this situation before. Yeah. So, this exact situation and each one is a little bit different, but this exact situation I will ask not to intervene in this. Your mom and dad are outside. Is it possible, Miles, to cuff her at the vehicle? They're outside. They're just I just don't want them to see her being ced. Are you okay? Yeah. I don't want to see. Okay. Um, we'll just walk with you and then go from there. I would just ask just don't don't really talk or anything to them at this point. Um, we'll allow that later. Okay. They can come in and Yeah, we'll we'll work with you. Okay. You looking at me? I can talk to him. Okay. We got to go this way. All right. Hang on. Not right now. Not right now. Sorry, sir. Okay, I'll have [Music] her punch down here. Yeah. Oh. I'm not like the people that you see on TV and a bad person. I didn't do it on that on purpose. I don't think that you're a bad person. I know what you have to say that. I don't have to say that. I recognize that you're in a really bad position here. Let's go this way so we don't have to go through the snow. [Music] I won't be able to work where I work. Well, we have no idea what's going to happen yet. And sometimes it's it's a much smaller issue than than what we expect it to be. [Music] Moments later, Morgan arrives at the police station, followed by her dad, who investigators get a chance to talk to. I'll also tell you it may be a little bit shocking um parts of her story. So, I'm I'm gonna I guess remind you that uh it's important that she not feel judged whenever she's in there. Uh cuz she has described um essentially hallucinating uh a figure uh that that has appeared to her multiple times over the last six months. It sounds like that's Um yeah, somewhere around six to six months to a year. She said that she's been like just having this figure appear before she goes to sleep or whenever she wakes up and it's uh it's been stressing this morning. She thought it was and so she she her initial account to me is that she was reacting to that. So I want you to be aware that she may be saying some things that you don't expect. No, I wouldn't. Um, yes. Steps away, Morgan is seated in an interview room. I'm going to acknowledge that this process is super uncomfortable and it may feel at times that you're being treated like you're like a piece of evidence or something, but the reality is no one here is judging you or thinks you're a bad person. It's just the nature of things that we have to collect all the information that we can. So, thank you. We are going to have to take the sweatshirt though because it had his blood on it and it was on you at that time. So that's what my partner went back to the apartment to grab is another sweatshirt for you and and those socks. Okay. He put it on the table. Okay. Already set up. Morgan was booked for aggravated battery and recklessly endangering safety. Court records show she later pleaded no contest to the charges and was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months behind bars, followed by 5 years of extended supervision and probation.
