We've been dealing with her for several years. She's sociopathic. She has no consequences for her actions at all. She's proud of herself setting a fire and being away. Okay. What about today? That's what I needed. >> Today she set me off because she put a hole in the wall and was laughing about it and so I her and then she proceeded to fight me back and I fought her back. >> Are you injured anywhere, dear? >> I'll be fine. >> Are you sure you don't want to be checked out or anything? >> No, I mean I'm nauseous from where she in the stomach, but I don't think I have a And her right eye. Oh. >> Recent marks on the daughter suggested the incident had just taken place. further supported by her brother's account and the father's observations of concerning behavior. >> I'll be back in here. You were asleep, weren't you? >> Oh, yes. >> I was inside and mom was given a report. Mom said that she already had a black eye on the right side from leaving the facility. About what time was that? >> No. So, about 12:00. >> Yes. I just saw she was sitting in the car, but I would have noticed. >> You'll just write from once you saw your daughter yesterday until you came out here today. She just um, you know, like yell a couple times just a little bit. >> What do you mean? And then she told her to go to the room and then she left and then she got in the room. So yeah, that's what happened. That's all I know. >> When was the last time you saw your sister? >> Yesterday. >> What did she look like? What did her face look like? Did she have any? >> I think she had like a black eye. >> You think she had a black eye? yesterday. >> Yeah. Got it. But now that could have been >> That's what I'm saying. >> Cohor. >> I was thinking about my brain's all thr. But yeah, she was with Patty was with me on Friday. >> Yeah. >> And she did not have it. Did not look like that. >> Friday. >> Yeah. So Friday cuz she was we had to get her ankle monitor replaced on Friday. So she was with me all morning. >> He tried to talk to your son, but I think your ex-wife done to him because when he walked there, they were sitting down together talking. So he tried. Now he's saying that there was a black eye there yesterday. So, did Addison call you once everything happened? >> Alicia called me this morning. She just called me 10 minutes ago and said, "Go get her. This just happened." I slapped her again. >> Family conflict was seen as a key factor behind the daughter's emotional struggles. Even so, she tearfully expressed love for both parents while also showing deep sadness and a sense of insecurity. >> She went on today and she's been meeting one of her meds. I don't know which one, but she has bipolar. She has depression, anxiety, and a lot of other things. And so do I. And I just got out of my mental hospital for setting a fire. And I had one more chance, and then I go to Judy. And I don't know what I'm going to do right now. But I put a hole in her wall. And she said, "You're acting just like your father. My father's been here a lot." So the wall and I said, "Never say that again." She said, "I'll say it if it's true." And then I was on the floor after she kept and I was whenever I could. I don't know if I She said I did. I don't know. I just I was eating whatever I could. This isn't the first time this has happened. This is the second time her boyfriend broke up with her last night. So, I slept in her room with her to make sure she was going to be okay. >> Last night, okay, >> this happened this morning. As soon as it happened, she was like, "If you walk out that door, then I'm sending you back to your dad if she doesn't think about my dad." So, I felt so scared. I didn't know what to do. So, I went I ran to Caleb's room and I told him to hide in his closet. And I grabbed his phone. I'm not allowed to have a phone. So, I used his phone. I called 911. And she's lying saying that all of this was here yesterday when all of this is still fresh. She didn't. She said she me, but that doesn't make sense. She didn't me this wasn't as the outcome of this. >> Why was she saying that you were acting like your dad? What were you doing that made her? >> Cuz apparently I didn't want to be around her even though I was around her all day. And then I said, she was like, I'm sorry I'm going through my struggles. I'm like, I've just been in and out of mental hospitals all year and I'm going through too. >> How's the relationship with mom and dad? >> He hasn't really done something like this ever. He's so narcissistic and they're >> with mom and dad. Like, are they okay? >> They're divorced. They've been in a big argument recently. >> How recent was that? >> Like constantly now, presently. >> Oh, they're still at odds with one another. Okay. >> They're still in argument. I will tell the truth. If she says I her cuz I was I was frantic. I was trying to do whatever I didn't do. But no one ever believes me anything. That's why I'm trying so hard. No one believes me about my dad cuz he wasn't doing anything like this to me. But I can't live with him. I can't be with him. >> And why is it that you can't go with your dad? >> I don't. >> He's way over there. >> I don't trust him. He's very narcissistic. Like he only cares about himself and he tends to take us away from him all the time. Even before she did this, he just wants us to himself and he'll do anything to happen. He just scares me. >> Hey, don't feel comfortable talking with dad around. So just kind of like make sure that stay got >> I ran away from mom's house. I at mom's house. So that's why he wants to take us away from her, but she never did anything until now. She said this before, but it was very swollen. It was because I deserved it. I called her a and I deserve to get a beating for that. And it wasn't like this. I was just a black eye. And then I punched a hole in the wall on this video. This only happened twice, but that first time I deserve it. I'm not saying she did that out of wrongness. She I deserved that first one. I don't think I deserve the second one. I don't deserve all of it. I didn't deserve all this. So, um, going back to you going with with your dad's, do you, outside of him already making pre-existing statements about him wanting to take y'all from mom's house, do you feel like you're going to be in way by being at his house? You feel like your life is going to be in jeopardy or something or is it just that you just don't like the way he >> and mentally because in mental hospital and it's mainly because of him. Physical stuff is because of mom. Emotional stuff is because of dad and defects has been involved numerous times and they don't believe me. is very tiring and so I just gave up hoping that they would just send me back to school cuz for a long time they didn't have me at school and have me in doing anything. I was just out. >> You're back in school now? >> Yeah, I have ankle on her for the fire. I just got it on yesterday. >> Let me take a look at your neck cuz you saying that she turned to you and I just want to take >> No, she didn't squeeze hard. She had her hand like right here. Like she was I put my chin like this. >> Okay. You believe you have anywhere else? >> I mean I was covering my hand with her arm. So I don't feel like I have any there. But that's the only other place. You mind lifting your sleeve up just so I can see real quick? >> These are the first up from her. >> Okay. >> Because of my dad. This is why I can't I'm in way as well because of my dad. Because of my dad and I'm from my mom. Because of my mom and I don't know where to go. >> Why are you at because your dad? What does your dad do that makes you? >> He just yells a lot. That's one of my triggers. Okay. >> He will claim he's like I haven't yelled at all recently but you have. Okay, my mom likes to say that this all so happy. My dad lives saying that he doesn't do anything wrong. Of course, he doesn't do anything wrong. The whole world around him. And I love both of my parents. I love them both so much, but I don't want them to get in trouble cuz I can't be with them anymore. I don't want my brother with them. I trust my brother and my dad cuz he doesn't My dad doesn't do anything to him. >> We're going to talk with the parents real quick and go from there. I know you're 16 technically since you're >> I'm 16. I'm 16 October 24th. I keep 15 at 16 in about 19 days or so. >> Okay. Ultimately, it's going to be left up to your parents on whether or not they want you to go to the hospital. He already said yes. >> Does she have any like neck bruising that anything that she possibly do >> consistently on the neck? No. There's no cuz she's pretty fair skin. There's no hand print, anything like that. But there is redness down the center. There's some redness here as well. Hey Addison, when you were in the room with mom and the incident was going on and you're saying that she you She her hand was right here and it seemed like she was trying to close my mouth or she was streaming. I don't know what she was trying to do. >> Were you on your back? On your side. You were laying down on your side. >> On my back and I can turn to my side and I was trying my back like the whole time it was just switching off and off. >> So, were you able to say anything when she had her hand in >> Did she say anything the entire time this was going on? What was she saying? >> Stuff like if you you know walk out that door, I'm sending you back to your dad. And she doesn't want to go back there. before she was like, I said, "Get off of me." And she says, "No." And she says some other things I can't remember. I know she said other things cuz really, really bad. >> After reviewing the situation, the mother was directed into formal legal procedures and temporary care of the two children was transferred to the father. >> Everything occurred in mom's room. >> Where's your mom's room? >> Right there. >> Yes, that's it. >> Everything happened in here. >> Said her mom is on med as well. >> She did not say that. >> She said she's by schizophrenic. She just got off from it and she just had a breakup with a a new boyfriend last night. >> Yeah. Dad said it was a rocky relationship. He wasn't sure what was going on with the mom and her new boyfriend. >> If we can step outside and talk is outside. >> Yeah. I wasn't supposed to stay in. So, >> it's okay. She's She's in the ambulance. So, it's y'all are separated. >> So, right now you're going to be under arrest for battery. Okay. All right. So, I'm going to have you go ahead and place your bag. >> Can I bra or no? >> Can you what? bra like I wear a bra to the facility or shoes. >> You're not going to need that. You don't have to take it off. I'll transport. >> You will? >> Yeah. You're going to have to take that off and undress in into some other clothes. Anyway, >> you don't have any on you, anything like that? >> No. >> Nothing in your waistband. >> All right. You can have a seat. right now her charges is battery from my understanding family because obviously her eye your daughter's eye I mean that's and nose that is um pretty and red and stuff like that so we we can't turn a blind eye we did not do the arrest in front of your son I took him upstairs and talked with him they brought her outside that way he didn't see that part I haven't told him that mommy got him >> yes I'll put that in your hands but if you want to go in there tell him to grab some clothes cuz he's used to coming Yeah, she's got everything else. >> Yeah. So, if you want to tell him to grab some shoes and that you'll be coming with him for a minute and that way you can tell him about mommy because uh >> Hey, you got some to your scalp. >> Apparently, I didn't know where. >> Okay, I'm going just take a look. >> That's really hurting. It's just over there. It honestly like I could see a lot of that rug rash and throughout her scalp and that but when I saw that I thought it was it looked like a dog bite or something like something but she said her mom has nails and like nails like mine. So that would make sense if that's what it is. Looks like something like her. >> Do you believe it's fresh? To me it looks almost like it's forming to be scabbed over a little. >> What? >> On her head. Not the ear. The ear looks fresh. >> Yeah. I mean, it's scabbing over a little bit, but it was bleeding still whenever. >> Okay. >> Whenever when you got Okay. >> Yeah. All right. >> Is my son with my husband? >> He's one of >> the mother was charged with battery and to a child. Under Georgia law, she could face 1 to 10 years in prison. Actions driven by stress or emotional struggles can carry serious consequences and [music] may affect parental rights. This story is a reminder of the legal and moral responsibility to care for and protect children. The most unsettling truth in some missing child cases isn't a stranger, but a family member whose story doesn't fully add up. >> We hop on a bus to leave here and she left in a bus and I've been trying to talk. >> On December 5th, 2022, investigators in Albuquerque launched an urgent search after a report that a 5-year-old had not returned home as expected while the father came back alone. At the residence, officers collected the father's statement to help trace the child's movements. Police department. Police department. Nicholas, open the door, man. >> Nicholas, you have to open the door for us. >> We are coming in there, Nicholas. >> Hello, police department. What took you so long to come to the door? >> Scared of my wife. >> Okay. Can you come in, please? >> Come back, man. >> Do you mind if I just check the room real quick? Make sure the kid's not in here. >> Yeah. Yeah. Come check. Let's quiet. >> You come out here, man. Check the room. >> We got to figure out what's going on, man. Come out. Oh, here. Look. Right here. All right. You can lean up against the wall here. Okay. What's What's going on here? >> I left my daughter supposed to be my wife. I came daughter supposed to be with your wife. >> Yes. And I left. My wife said, "Where's your daughter?" I'm like, "Well, she supposed to be with you." >> What? Where's your wife supposed to be? >> Going back to George. >> Joey Johnson? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, I told my wife. So, I left and I went and wait. I was okay then. We got her. And I come back here. Who's daughter? She got her right. So, no. I thought it was you. >> So, so okay. Does Does mom have a car? >> No, she doesn't. >> Okay. So, then how was she supposed to get the kiddo back here? >> Can you join my kids? >> No, she had she had to try my wife had my daughter. >> I took her to go see her my wife. I went took her to see my daughter. >> Okay. >> And she's supposed to be my wife. Throughout the interview, the father repeatedly avoided responsibility, shifted blame to his wife, and provided inconsistent details, making clarification difficult. You >> supposed to be with your wife, but you said you came back here to look for her. Yeah, that's what I said. My wife called me and said I'm here with your daughter. >> Your wife called you? >> No, earlier. >> Earlier. >> Earlier. >> All right. What's a good phone number for your wife? >> 505. >> What What time was this? >> This is about about hour and a half ago. >> Hour and a half ago. And your wife was with your daughter. Is it? >> Yeah. I was supposed to be with my daughter cuz I left them both. I said, "Here, his daughter." I left. And then my wife said, "Here, go come pick up my daughter." So, I came back. I left. I went back to >> You came back, picked her up. >> Yeah. Yeah. Picked up your daughter to come back here. >> Yes. I went back and I said, "Hey, here's your daughter." Well, go back. And then since I left, I came back. I said, "What's your daughter?" I'm getting phone calls that your daughter's not here. >> So, you're saying that when you went back to your wife, she didn't have your daughter? >> No, she had a daughter. >> Okay. She had my daughter. >> You guys hop on the bus to come here? >> Yes. >> And she gets on the bus. >> We hopped on a bus to leave here and she left got on a bus and I've been trying to talk. >> How did that happen? cuz my daughter my wife was having a altercation with another female on the bus. >> Your wife was you guys all three of you guys were on the bus? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And so I said, "Where's his daughter at right now?" I said, "Where's your daughter at?" Oh. So I went and I left to go find my daughter. Where's she on the bus? So I left and went. I said, "Well, I'm going to go find her right now." So that's why I left. I went back down here and my daughter's like, "Hey, I tried to find my daughter. You can't I can't find her daughter." >> Why did you get off the bus without your daughter in the first place? >> I wasn't there. She got off. the bus without her daughter. >> You said you were just You said you were off the bus. >> I said, "No, I'm back over here." >> Are you Are you understanding that? Okay. I'm trying to understand what you're saying. >> I said, "Why did you get off the bus when his daughter's with you and I'm back over here where we're supposed to be at?" And now I'm trying to go back down there to go find where you were at. And now my daughter's gone. >> I just don't I don't understand why. If you guys were all three on the bus, right? Right. >> No, she left. I came back, got her, and took her on the bus. I left and she left to take my daughter when I picked up my daughter from here. >> Okay. >> And so that's what happened. And then she's like, "Do you have your daughter?" I said, "No." I said, "Do you supposed to have her?" >> So where is your wife at? >> I don't know. My phone my phone's dead. I can't even call her or nothing. I can't get hold of my daughter because my wife is That's what I'm trying to tell you. So why here trying to tell me go find my daughter? >> We're here. We have other people checking the buses. >> Like I said, I can't call my wife because my phone is dead. >> Take a deep breath for us. >> Go fight for what? For what? For what? Assault. For what? Their accounts differed sharply as she stated she never boarded the bus with them. >> Police department have >> all kindly. >> How's it going, guys? Good. >> We just want to come over here and touch you. Okay. All right. >> We're not located here yet. They go over to the uh Belinda's. She doesn't see her. >> She just wanted to come over here and talk to you and kind of let you know what's going on. Okay. So, looking for >> the case has been reported to our detectives. We're going to try to locate through that. Okay. But yeah, we we just wanted to say that we had come over here and talk to you and >> Yeah. What's going on? >> Okay. >> And you said when when was the last time you saw her? >> After she got out of school, we went and picked her up. Um >> that was about what's happened. >> She gets out of school at 4:00. >> Were you ever on any bus or anything with her today? >> No. >> Cuz Nicholas was giving us all kinds of incoherent statements. Do you know anything about where she was with Nicholas or anything that can help us? >> No. >> The last um the [snorts] last time I talked to him was about um 5 and he said that he was going back um to Hawthorne with her. >> Okay. Where were they at before that? >> He said that they were on Sonteo and Central. >> What were they doing? He just like >> um No. He said that he was going to come and see me [snorts] and then take her back and I had told him that she was we had I had already seen her and that if he could just take her back cuz he didn't he was already you know like he was already intoxicated and stuff and normally like he'll just go and then he'll just go back to Hawthorne and and sleep it off. I didn't um the last time I talked to him he was fine like he wasn't u slurring or nothing. And then I had went to sleep early cuz I barely even get any sleep when I'm at George Junction. So I went to sleep and then my phone was on vibrate. So I didn't hear anything. I didn't hear no calls, nothing. Uh the last voicemail that I got from him was about 7:43. >> Does he just take the bus up and down Central with >> No, he he usually normally just goes back and >> Yeah. I'm just I'm trying to figure out where he went when he left Hawthorne with your daughter. >> Yeah. [snorts] Um the phone call that I the voicemail that I got from him, he said that they were on univer the bus stop said they were on university and >> that was central. >> Oh, Central and Walter. >> You can hear in [snorts] the voicemail like the bus. >> What was she doing down there? >> I don't know. >> I don't know. Going back down >> at Central and University. >> They were going >> back to Hawthorne. >> Okay. But obviously they ended up going west. >> Yeah. >> To Central. Do you have any I know this is kind of a broad question, but do you have any idea what where she could possibly have gone between those two spots? >> And no other balances? >> No. >> And he didn't give you any other information on what he thought happened? No, he he just said that um he called me from jail and said that he was on um Central and University getting off the bus and he thought that she was right behind him and once um once he got off the bus uh he turned around and she wasn't there and she was still on the bus and uh he said he tried to run after the bus instead of going after the bus he goes back to Hawthorne he said to notify the police and everybody. Um because his phone his phone wasn't working no more. >> But how how was he Okay. Okay. This is the the conversation from jail. >> Yeah. >> I'm just trying to piece together. Yeah. What he was saying cuz he told us >> several different said we couldn't even he thought originally he thought the kid was with you and then he was like we were all on the bus and then was there was there like some kind of altercation on the bus? You and somebody else? Um it was me and um that chick I was with. We got into a fight and then you know we we started talking again and everything was okay and stuff and it it just yeah just got all awkward and stuff. So that's when I told him I was like I'm just going to take her and we're just going to go chill and then that was it. Yeah. And we got off the bus at Central and Central University. >> Uh Central and Oh Central. Then you guys came over here. >> Yeah. No, we were walking around and stuff. Even though children depend on adults, they should be taught how to recognize risks and seek help from trusted people. These are basic life skills that can make them safer. A request for $400 that seemed minor became the spark that ignited long simmering tension in a suffocating marriage, forcing police to step in and untangle the conflict. >> See, I haven't any money from like 3 days and yeah, uh we'll see you for to live. On October 25th, 2023, a man contacted police after ongoing arguments with his wife over her keeping his work tools when he declined to give her $400 and left with their child. I I had I had my husband follows me and and I >> what he he wanted he wanted the baby and he wanted the tools that I had from him and he offered me $400. We we we're not in the middle of a divorce like he says it's not true. So, um, I tried to do that, but he he, uh, he wanted 200 bucks and then he started then he started straight me and wanted to take the baby and he said, "He's got away." So, I was like, I gave him the baby, but then he I sat in this truck and he got kind of physical with me. No, I don't have my ID on me. It's in my other purse. I know. In the bottom cuz I always hide it in the bottom. Sorry. >> Yeah. Can you give this off to me? >> Yeah. >> We're in a divorce. >> Okay. >> It's probably all my fault. I had an affair. This is like a year ago or whatever. >> No, we're not. >> So, and I got a lawyer and I paid him. You know, everybody, my sister, every I live with my sister. We even live with my sister. Everybody's like, "Dude, you need to start documenting yourself." >> You still live there, too? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> And so, like, and she's been stealing like she stole my generator, which thousand bucks. I never even used the thing, you know, and she's like like all kinds of things and like I'm like, she stole all my tools. And so, I said, and I had the deputy coming out. He's like, "You're married. Can't do anything. You can't do anything. You can get an injunction tomorrow." So, I was going to go tomorrow to get an injunction. And then she called while the deputy was there. I was like, "Okay." She called. She called me. >> She called me and I was like, "Listen, I'll get >> Where was she at? >> I have no idea. >> You don't know." Okay. And I said you left. When did she leave? >> Uh I wasn't home from work yet when she >> What time was that? >> When you were deputy about >> Oh, that was like in two hours ago or something like that. >> And you didn't know where she was when you were talking to deputy? >> No, I had no idea. She had my child in my son's car and on my car. It's in my name and my insurance. >> And And then she called you while you were with the deputy. >> Yeah. And she was saying, "Give me some money and I'll give you your tools back." And I said, "Okay, well, what do you want?" And then she she's like, "100 bucks." But then I was talking to him and he's like, "There's nothing you can do. Get an injunction." I said, "If you see her driving, she doesn't have a driver's license." Just, you know, and he was like, "Yeah, okay. Hopefully see, you know, spend license or >> No, she's never had a license cuz she's never because she's from Germany and she's here on the tourist visa. Okay. >> We got married and it's my fault that she never got the real visa. She blames that on me." But, you know, >> military? >> No, it's just I was living there. We had a kid over there. Our first son, our older son that goes. So, how did you guys end up here in Melbourne? >> She called me and then she heard the deputy in the background and then she started cussing him out and he was pissed and then she hung up. After he left, she called again and I said, "Listen, give me my son back and I'll give you 400 bucks. Give me my tools and my son back and I'll give you 400 bucks. I don't want her driving around with the weirdo and my kid." >> Well, you say weirdo. What do you mean by weirdo? >> I think she's got some dude with her. I don't know. Maybe not. She said, "All right, uh, we'll do it." Or we called back and forth a few times because she would like didn't want to do it or this and that. No, no, no. And then I was like whatever, you know. So she's like well I'm at Walgreens. I heard her say something about Walgreens. So I said what Walgreens are you at? So I went to the one on beach side and they were already closed. I said are you in the one gall? She's like yeah I'm at the Walgreens on a galley. Meet me there. And >> so she wanted you to meet her there. >> Yeah. And so >> did you give her money? >> Yeah. So I gave her but I only gave her 200. >> So I said here's 200. She had given me my son. I said here's 200. And she goes oh well. Then she >> Now you guys are married right? >> Right. Right. But then she sat in my truck and she's like, "If you don't give me another 200 right now, you're not getting the tools or the kit or whatever." And I'm like, "Come on, dude." So, and then she like wouldn't let me in the truck. So, I was like, "Let me in the truck. I'm going to call the cop." And then so that's when I called. Then she grabbed my son and got out of the truck and I was like, "Where are you going?" And she jumped in the Porsche and took off. So, I'm like, >> ID card and that truck registered to you? >> Yes, sir. >> That truck right there had the windshield bricks thrown through it. She posted about it on Facebook through the front windshield and I just got there. >> Did you report that to the police? >> No, I reported my insurance, but yeah, I probably should have. >> All right, Daniel, you got in the car? >> No. >> Okay, hang off by your truck real quick. I'm going to go over here real quick. All right, just don't go rumaging around. It's okay. It makes us nervous. >> Probably see one clear type. >> The wife went on to describe a marriage filled with dead [music] ends. Not being a native resident and still in the process of securing legal status had left her financially dependent on her husband. You just step over here with me, ma'am. >> Of course. Can I just >> Hey, what did she just ask you? We're here with the baby. Go with her. >> Right. I'm sorry. >> All right. >> Do you mind if I look through the purse to see if you have your ID on you? >> No, I put your bag on the car. All right, we're done looking at the bag. Are those sunglasses? >> Yes. >> Okay. Can you take them off? Okay. Well, leave them off. It's night time. >> No, I prescription sunglasses. I'm sorry. >> Okay. Well, it's 1:00 in the morning. >> I know. I can't I can't. to wear your regular glasses. >> The fear of my husband broke him. >> Okay. So, what what's going on tonight? >> It sounds horrible. So, my husband is still married. We live in my household and it is horrible. He doesn't give me any money. He works and I take care of the baby and um he already has an affair that lives like not far from our house. I asked him if he can um send me some money. He was supposed to get me money this morning. Um but he didn't. And um I have three days of money and um I wanted to get stuff for the baby. Uh, I called him tonight and he said, "Okay, I sent you $100." And then he called me back. He said, "Well, I could I could do with you um a trade." He's like, "If I have to pay for the night and you give me my tools, you get $400." And I was like, "All right, I just got to get stuff on and we can do it up." And then he gave me $200. And he's like, "Well, you going to wait for the" And I was like, "Well, why can you never um stick to the word?" And then we had that talking lot. He's like, "Because my baby was screaming. I got in the driver's seat in the passenger seat and I tried to calm down a little bit and then he said um get out of the truck and I got to pee out of it and the baby and um he freaked out and he started started sorry he started climbing in the back and then wanted to me out and started driving out the car tried to out of the seat was door was still open and I was like you got here I was I started screaming because I felt and I felt like that's not safe and I asked him to stop and um And he finally did stop and I was like, "Well," he's like, "Get out the truck." But I was afraid when he get out the truck, then he drives away with a baby and yeah, caught me. So I was like, "Well, can you get out of the way in?" And then I wanted to get out. I had a baby in my hand and then he me and um didn't want to let me get out. Yeah. And then um I saw my friend by the car and I was like, "Okay, can you please come and and and let's just go and >> Okay. So why is the baby in the front seat?" Because I I um because the car seat was there. I had the car seat in the front seat. >> Why? Because we actually wanted to trade in and I just I didn't think there was enough room. I was sitting in the back seat. I jumped in and he drove to >> Yeah, we were meeting um and um but we were meeting up at Walgreens because I needed to get some stuff from Walgreens. He um You had the baby the whole time. >> I'm sorry. I'm so Yeah, I had to wait the whole time. I had my friend with me. He got out of the truck and get out of the car because I thought it would be better to meet my husband. First, I didn't want to be by myself, but since we need a beautiful place, I thought, okay, then I'll just meet him for give him what? >> I had tools of his in the back of his car for I haven't received any money from him in like few days. And yeah. Uh, >> where is he giving you money for? >> To live because I watch the baby. I like >> Where do you live now? What's your address? >> I live with him, but he goes to work every day. It was a baby and he doesn't provide credit. Does he not? >> No, but he doesn't understand but he doesn't give me any money. Okay. >> Even so, these pressures did not remove her legal responsibility. >> Hey, buddy. >> Hi. >> Hey, buddy. Your arms. How are you? >> Hey, buddy. Buddy, it's okay. >> You know, I want the best for the child, but I need I would have given him the child. No problem. But I know he's a good father. >> He want the child or >> Yeah, he want the child. We we we raise to $100 a week and I'm transferred and then he's like, "Okay, can you meet me? I give you 400 and I take a picture of the money." He's like, "Okay, fine with me." >> I thought you were mean to give tools to >> tools and a baby. Well, that's what you want >> for $500. >> 400 400 >> because I haven't received any money. I know it sounds ridiculous. I don't know. Can I not hold my baby? >> No. >> You know what? uh to be talking to you and >> my husband I hook up the baby so he comes down. >> Not right now. Not right now. When we get done with everything, we'll have your So, actually, we'll have your husband come pick up the the baby. >> Can we use the walker, please? Yes. >> Why is my husband picking up the baby? >> Oh my god. Detained. Okay. >> Well, wait. Don't pull away. Turn around. >> Really? >> This is not up to him. >> That's not up to him. >> What? What did I do wrong? >> We'll explain that to you in a second. >> You're not under arrest right Right now, you're just being detained. You understand what that means? Being detained. Detained means you're just not free to go, but you're not in trouble yet. We just want to talk to you and we're going to figure some stuff out. Okay. These guys will explain everything to you in a second. You want to bring the baby to father? You have the car seat. >> The father's taking the baby. >> Well, yeah. For now, he's got the car seat. She doesn't have a car seat. >> Of course, I have a car. >> We have both a car. >> Will you stay 10 12? Okay. >> Stay here with her. >> Yeah. >> You want You want to do that first? >> What? What am I getting to? What did I do wrong? Go ahead and I was going to test. >> All right, do that for me. Okay, do that for being detained right now cuz they're they're doing an investigation right now. >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, once they figure all that out, they'll they'll figure that out. I don't want Hey, I'm going to I'm going to read her Miranda real quick. Okay. >> All right. I'm going to read something to you. Okay. Do you understand English, right? Okay. >> Babe, pay attention to me. Don't yell and scream. I don't like people yelling screaming. I got to read something to you real quick. Once I read to you, then we can go from there. Okay. What's your name? >> I'm going to pull you guys up a little bit. All right. That way you can see. Is that Are you prescription? Yeah. >> Okay. Um, listen what I got to say, okay? Um, this is what called Miranda. Before we ask you any questions, you must understand your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask any question and have your question. You cannot afford a lawyer. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you will still have the right to stop answering at any time. You also have the right to stop answering any time until you talk to a lawyer. You understand these these rights that I read to you? >> Okay. With these rights in mind, you still want to talk to us collectively? >> No. >> You don't want to talk to us at all? >> You don't want to talk at all? >> I you want to talk to us or not? >> I Okay, just hang out real quick. >> Officers arranged for the child to remain with the father [music] and ensured the child was cared for in a safe environment. >> Place real quick. Just hold him up by >> It's my fault that he doesn't have a diaper. She wanted to get diapers for him. [crying] He's got a dent here with >> diapers. >> You got diapers in there? >> No, I don't. I thought I did, but I got I got a I got a child seat and all that. I just I wanted to get him out of there. >> Hang tight with with him for a minute. If it starts raining, get him inside. Put him inside. Whatever. Just hang tight. I don't go nowhere. >> All right. Um, so did Officer Ice already read you when Miranda writes? >> Yes. >> Okay. Well, you're really going to talk. Okay. So, what do you smoke out of that? >> All right. We already tested it. I don't know the answer. It's not funny. I don't know. >> Oh, okay. She was driving around with it and >> I don't even The car family car family car. So, I don't know. I don't know what kind of pipe it was from. >> Okay. Did you The little white little pouch. >> Yeah. >> Is that yours? >> Kind of like on the driver's seat cup holder. I don't know. >> I just I got the car I picked it up from the house. Honestly, um I had to hurry up because Walmart is kind of closed and I had to go to this Walmart and I didn't make it already. Um my husband called and I talked to him and then I went to Walmart and I didn't All righty. All righty. Well, we're going to walk over to that car. Do you want to grab her over to that SUV? >> Hey, so you're now under arrest. You're not detained anymore. Okay. >> Billy. Billy. Hey, you didn't do it. He did not do anything. >> I know. I know. >> So, stop talking to him. This is all you. This not This has nothing to do with her. This is all me. >> Yes, her. >> I didn't do anything wrong. >> I didn't get anything. That's what you want. >> Hey, what did I just tell you? >> I'm sorry. Can I just talk to him? >> Okay. Okay. Don't scream at me, please. >> Then stop talking to him. >> Bring it up to him. Yeah. >> Go ahead and sit in the car for us. >> Can I have something to drink? >> No, not yet. >> Why is your mouth dry? >> Because I'm nervous. >> Oh, >> I've never dealt with the police. >> Go ahead and sit in. Okay. During a vehicle check, officers also found additional items connected to possible legal issues. >> Does she have a drug problem or anything? >> I think she might have one. >> What kind of problem do you think she might have? >> Maybe she's smoking crack. I don't know that for sure. >> What makes you think that though? If you were to say that >> she's very jumpy and weird lately. >> Have you noticed anything? Have you seen anything that would indicate that? you know, crack pipe or no torches that that are normally used for that. Does she smoke cigarettes? >> She smoked cigarettes. >> You guys smoke cigarettes? Do you guys Do you smoke cigarettes, too? >> I smoke cigarettes. >> She's going to jail. >> Okay. >> All right. They found a pipe in in the vehicle and tested positive. The mother was charged with aggravated with a dead weapon, aggravated battery causing bodily or disability, false imprisonment of an adult, tampering with a thirdderee felony proceeding, battery, dating, and contributing to the delinquency [music] or dependency of a child given the number and seriousness of these charges. What level of [music] legal consequences would be appropriate in this case? In Florida, another young girl faced not from violence but from her mother. >> Do you want to go to jail for child? or do you want to tell us the truth right now? >> On February 16th, 2025, Palm Beach police received an emergency call. A mother named Christina had left her daughter in the car to go to the gym. When they arrived, Christina was nowhere to be found, forcing the police to enter the gym and hear her explanation. I was only going in for about 15 to 20 minutes. >> Can you open the door? Can you open the door? >> What's up, Captain? I guess she's being good not opening the door for a stranger, but it's No, it's on. I'm going to go inside and see if I can't get out. >> Hi. How are you? Can you open the door for me? Mommy's coming out. She said open the door. Can you open the door for me? She's coming out right now. Thank you, baby. >> Uh-oh. It's okay. >> Get mom. >> I don't know where the mom is. She's okay, though, right? >> Yeah. Are you able to call her like to the front? Christine. Christine, if you come to the front, please. Are you Are you Miss Christine? >> I'm Miss >> Okay. My apologies. >> I work here. You want me to check the female bathroom? >> Yeah. We were just going to ask her if you could see what she looks like. Obviously. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Please. >> She's in there. Did Did you ask her if you could come out? >> Yeah. I asked her if her name was Christine. She said, "Yeah." And I told her to come out and she said, "Okay." She was just showering, so I don't know. >> Yeah, she's in there. >> Yeah. She said she was showering, but she's coming out. >> Should we talk to you outside? >> Sure. >> Is my daughter okay? >> Let's talk over here. >> Okay. >> She's okay now that the car is open. >> Oh, I literally went in there for like 5 10 minutes. >> Okay. Well, other people have said otherwise. Okay. Even 5 10 minutes. That's fine. What if something happens to you in the gym? >> Very true. My god, you scared me. I thought something happened to my daughter. That's all I cared about. I almost >> If you cared about it, then you wouldn't let her in a car off. >> Oh my god. I thought it was like 15 20 minutes she was sleeping and I was going to come right back out. You scared me. >> Do you have your driver's license with you? >> Um it's all in the car. I'll definitely make sure it doesn't happen again. Can I go see her? I need >> Can you give me a second? So what time did you get to the gym? >> I got here like 15 20 minutes ago. Like 20 30 minutes ago. I went to the gym. I did my um my workout and then I showered and came right back out. >> So you did a 15-minute workout and shower. >> 15 20 minutes. Like 5 minutes and I came back out. Like 20 25 minutes total. And it never happens before. So, I'm like, "Oh my god, what happened?" I've never ever to where she's alone and she's like, "All right, let me just quickly go here since you're sleeping and I'll come back." >> Let me ask you this. I hate to be up front or out of line. Are you guys living under the car or >> No, I can actually show you a paycheck. >> Okay. >> I'm working. This This is like a mistake. That's why I was scared. I'm like, "Let me run out. I can show you my paycheck." >> Okay, I'm fine. >> I can literally pull it out and show you. >> According [snorts] to the gym's investigation, she had arrived there earlier. She's been in here for 2 hours, right? >> Okay. Can you Is there like Can I see it on the computer? She said she's been in here for 15 minutes. >> 71. >> This is exactly what she's here. >> 2 hours. She said she's been here 15 minutes. >> Yeah. >> And I couldn't take it out right now. I thought you guys scared me. I just want to make sure she's okay. >> What was your name, ma'am? >> Christina. >> Do you want to go to jail for child abuse or do you want to tell us the truth right now? Definitely telling you the truth. >> You checked in the gym at 7:27 this morning. Do you know what time it is now? If you ask her, I came back out. I went >> It's 9:00. You've been here for almost 2 hours. >> I I will tell you. I'm telling you the truth. I walked back out. >> Okay. Regardless, she was still in the car >> for like 15 20 minutes. Yes. I That's true. But I can literally tell you I walked out. >> All right. Let's go get your driver's license and uh we'll go from there >> and I can show you my paycheck and everything. My daughter has never been harmed. >> Okay. Well, we don't know that. And this is our first encounter with you, so I find that hard to believe. Well, I can't trust you because you said you've been in there for 15 minutes and you've been in for there for 2 hours. >> 25. like 25 15 at the gym like 5 minutes. >> And at this moment, excuses began to pour out. Yet sadly, not a single one admitted any wrongdoing. >> Hi, Mom. How are you? >> Good. Gabby's good. >> What happened? >> No, she didn't do anything. The a passer by called it in cuz they saw an unattended juvenile in the back put the car off. >> So, the biggest issue obviously in Florida and everything else is one, you don't want to leave unattended for long at all, but also the car has to be on. Okay. >> Do you have your ID? Yeah, >> but she's okay. She got no complaints. She was She's been great. All right, Gabby, feel better. We'll see you later. >> Thank you guys. I appreciate it. No problem. I'm so sorry. I know you guys hate me right now, but I promise it's a mistake. >> Can you give my partner your ID? >> Yeah. And you can call her. They came to help me with my car and I literally had a flat. >> I'm not worried about your vehicle right now, >> but I wanted to tell you why we're here. We had a flat and they stopped by and and changed everything for >> Okay, cool. You could be doing whatever inside, but your child's in the car. No AC. The car's off. It's locked, so we can't get in unless we break the window. Do you understand what I'm trying to say? >> I understand. And it'll never happen. It never happened before. So that's why I'm like afraid that would happen. >> Where are you going? >> I'm just trying to make sure that >> Why is that a concern if the driver's side is open? >> I'm just making sure that she's okay cuz she gets scared. I don't want her to be afraid. >> So you had to drive the close the driver's door. >> I just literally I just closed the door. Honestly, I'm telling you, it really is a mistake. You don't understand. But it is a mistake. >> I don't think anybody will understand this. Just put your bag on the hood. >> Can I go fast? >> Yes. So, let's step over here to the front. Do you want to tell me what's going on then? >> It's the It's the honest truth. I wish you would believe this. I can show you the text message my and I can you can even go to the tire. Can I tell you what happened and then you can kind of see if I'm guilty or not? >> I'll hear you out. Let's start with this. >> Christina [snorts] tried desperately to defend herself, but every effort seemed in vain. The police were not convinced. >> What time did you wake up this morning? >> I woke up this morning probably like around 6 something going on 7 because and I'll tell you, I'm trying to tell you I have proof. I woke up at 7:00 in the middle. >> I called to see if there's a nearest gym. So, I normally go to a gym. I do a good workout and then I stop driving back. I have proof. I'm trying to tell you kindly. My car, we got a flat. I'm glad we weren't on 95. The tire popped. I purchased it for $60 something. I talked out in front of >> yesterday last night around 11 almost like 10 something around 11. And the time you guys coming from coming from home and then what would happen is I came back down here. are going to go to Zart at the tire cost. So that's why I'm like, "All right, let me see if you guys can help." And I can show you proof. I would love to show you a flat tire at 11:00 p.m. >> And I can show you. I want I don't want you to think I'm a liar. I My daughter is the most important thing to me in my life. I've never done anything wrong. >> Says otherwise. She's a happy child. Like my daughter, she doesn't even know what's going on. She's never been around a cop before. >> Hang right here for a little bit. I don't have the um flat tire that blew out. So this this tire that was switched out again. That has nothing to do with anything right now. >> I'm just telling this has never happened. I'm trying to say that was the reason why we're here. >> No, the reason you're here is because you were taking a shower and working out, not because you have a flat tire. >> No, not not really. It's because the tire blew out and I normally work out and this was the only Crunch Fitness nearby. So we drove here. >> Okay. So then she would have been in another Okay. She would have been left in another Crunch Fitness if you didn't have a flat tire. Just hang out right here with my partner. Clearly, [snorts] Christina never thought about the consequences. She acted as if leaving the child alone was completely normal. >> First time because of the tire. >> Do me a favor. We can hang out over here so my partner can talk to her. >> Yeah. Yeah. Make sure she's okay. >> She's okay. >> Did you Did you think about if she was okay when you left her in the car by herself when you went to work out >> for the first time? I didn't think >> so. You can hang out. You can hang out over here. She's fine with us. Hi, >> Miss Christine. Let me talk to you without your daughter. Okay. Let's go over here. So, I'll ask you again. >> Where were you last night? >> I was Oh my god. Can I show you my phone? Is would it be easier if I show you my phone in the Mexican? >> It would be easier if you told me the truth. >> I just told you I I stopped at a Firestone. The tire blew out. The tire is still with us. >> Okay. You told me Firestone. What were you doing last night? >> Nothing at all. I came for I got off of work. We drove. The tire blew out. >> Where were you working at? >> Where was I working at? >> That's what I just said. Yeah. >> I work I'm a sales representative. I told you I work for a call center. Do you want me to show you everything that happened? I got off of work driving. >> How are you going to show me what happened? You're supposed to tell me what happened. >> I just did, sir. >> There's a lot of inconsistencies in this drawer. You're repeating my questions because you were trying to think of something. I don't know what's going on. >> I have the proof as a text messages. It shows you I wrote her. I said, "Hey, my tire blew out in front of the Firestone. Here's the address. Can you please send someone to come help us?" She sent her >> You got off work at what time last night? >> I got off of work probably around 8 or 9. So then what were you doing driving at 11:00 at night? >> No, I was driving around 9 something from Fort Lauderdale Delta down there. The tire blew out around 10. A man named Moses at 5 in between 8:00 and 10:00 p.m. >> I don't know what else you're I don't know. I'm not looking at the time. I'm telling you after work I drove around 9 to 9 something 910. >> What county and city are we in currently? >> In Lake Worth, right? Palm Beach. >> Where do you live? >> I live in Fort Lauderdale. My friend lives in Boon. I drove to Palm Beach and the car stopped in Palm Beach in Boon. >> Okay, that makes a little bit more sense. He's asking you why are you over in this area that's my friend after your tire was fixed then what happened >> after that we stayed at her house for a little bit we came here I drove I said let's go to Crunch Fitness so this is my first time here she said oh we just opened December 31st >> came we go back for a second where did I where did you spend the night last night >> after I went to her house I stayed with them for a little bit and then after that around 5:00 we drove here so I wouldn't even say we slept because we were up with the tires the whole time I wouldn't even say like I was sleeping like a baby somewhere cuz I wasn't. I was literally terrified. I had a flat tire. >> What was your plan for the rest of the day? >> Oh my god, it's Sunday. What is my plan? I don't know. I was going to drive back, see my dad. I don't really do much. >> All right. >> The evidence showed she had been at the gym for 2 hours. Undeniable. Yet, she still clung stubbornly to her lie. >> What I'm trying to figure out is like, you know, why was it like important after dealing with all that to be like, oh, you know what? I think we need to go check out this gym. >> I go to the gym every day. So, I thought Crunch Fitness is the closest one. Let me go for 15 20 minutes. >> 15 20 minutes is one thing, but you weren't here for 15 20 minutes, were you? >> When I came here, I came back out. I stayed with my daughter and I went back in. So, I'll say about 20 25 15 in the gym. You were in there for about 15 minutes. >> I was in the gym and I came back out. I stayed I stayed out probably like 30 40 minutes >> and then what? >> And then I went back. I went to the gym 15 25 15 minutes, showered 10 minutes, came back out and they're like, "Are you Christine?" I'm like, "Yes." And then that's it. like the >> so 15 minutes and then you came out for 30 minutes and then you went in there for another 20 minutes. So 30 + 20 is 50 minutes plus 15. >> I honest I honestly was >> that about an hour and 5 minutes, right? >> No, I was I was in the gym for about 25 30 minutes in total. >> In total about an hour and 5 minutes. Checked in the gym for almost 2 hours. So what happened to the other hour that we're missing right now? >> I came back outside because my daughter was sleeping so I had to make sure she was okay. Came back outside. I stayed she was still sleeping. I spend time with him. I'm like, "Okay, let me work out for a little bit. Maybe you'll be up after work." And then that's when you >> All right. But I think like your 15 20 minutes is probably a little bit longer based on the fact that you were here for >> I say 15. I was working out 20 minutes over 2 hours. >> About 25 30 minutes probably the time I was in the gym. >> Yeah. But you've been checked in for 2 hours and you were still in the gym when we got here. >> No, I checked in and then came back out. When I went back in and for that 10 minutes, that's when someone told me you guys were out here. The police, [snorts] tired of countless excuses, began making their final decision. >> All right, miss. So, here's what's going to happen. I'm not going to take you to jail today. >> Thank you. I appreciate it. >> Okay, that's not there for a thank you or anything like that. >> I know. I know. I'm so sorry. >> Um, what I am going to do is I'm going to make a report. This isn't the first time that you left your daughter unattended in the car while you're in the gym. Just hear me out. Just Just hear me out, okay? I don't need the stories anymore. I'm going to notify DCF. They're going to pay a visit to you at your house. Check on the welfare of your child. Okay? Do not let this happen again cuz now that it's on record, I guarantee you would be going to jail next time. >> Okay? >> If the gym is such a priority to you, >> well, now it's not because >> listen to me when you finish. If it is, then find a gym that has a daycare because it's not acceptable to you just to get your your exercise and your workout in. You your child in the car. >> Sorry, this is my friend. >> Okay. Can you lock your phone screen and put it in your bag or something? Here's the severity of the situation. Okay. I had to reach out to my supervisor. Okay. A detective. Okay. This meets the criteria for yes, you to go to jail. Okay. Do you mind calling your father to have him come pick up your child so we do not have to give her a DC? >> Can you tell me why? >> Cuz you are unattended in the car with it off. >> I literally I went in there for like 25 30 minutes >> regardless. It could be 5 seconds. >> Can you guys literally like see the tire that blew out? Can you >> The tire has nothing to do with this. Do you understand that, right? >> That's the reason why That's the reason why we iced up. >> I It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. You could be a crunch in Myiar. You could be a crunch in Fort Lauderdale. to be a crunch in in New York. It's the same thing. You understand that, right? Your child unattended. >> The thing is I this is not something that happens to me. Like I've >> it happened today. That happened today. >> I've always been the type of person to make sure my daughter is well taken care of. >> Do you want to call your father and have him come pick up your child? Let's go ahead and give him a call. >> It's going to take he's I don't care. >> I don't know how he's going to get there. Like a car. He has a car, but he's he's like a senior. He's going to I don't know how he's going to make it to Crutch Fitness. He's a >> How old is he? >> Like 75, 70. What other family members live close by? >> No. Any other family member that's nearby here that I can call her. I can call like literally where somebody would believe. Like literally, she just called. >> Give me your bag. >> Please >> go ahead and call dad. >> Is there any way like can I speak to him? And I'm like telling you guys I can call my dad, but there's no way he's going to be able to come way down here. >> Put your phone on the on the roof. >> You want me to try to call him? >> Please. >> Please don't do this. Can I? Okay, let me I'll call my dad. >> I'm going to take care of that. I'm going to have you on speaker. Okay, stop. Do not do that. >> Please let me call my dad. Just let me call my dad. Let me just let >> Okay, we'll call him in a little bit. Okay, right now that's not going to happen. >> Please let me call my dad so my daughter is safe. At least I can call her grandmother or something. Please, can I at least call her grandmother? >> Take a seat. I don't want your child to see. >> I don't think I'm I might take a seat. Can you please let me call? >> Take a seat. I don't want your child to see. >> Even calling her relatives was muddled by her, adding to the chaos. Keep drawing. She's okay. They're just talking. They're just talking. He just has to speak to her in the car. Take a seat. >> Take a seat. >> Gabby. Mommy is Mommy. She's going to come in. I don't know why. Mommy, I'm arrested. >> Okay. That's good for your child, but that's not what I wanted to happen. >> I'm so scared. >> I don't know what happened. >> I don't understand why you put your foot in. >> I don't know what I did. >> Real good. Real good. Nice. right here. Come here. You want to talk to mom? >> I might No, I might I might faint. I'm so serious. I might faint. Please have somebody I know what I did last night. I might faint, you guys. I'm serious. Is it? >> Yes. I've never never been locked up before. Ever. I might faint. I'm not going to make it back here like this at all. I will not make it. I promise. >> She's not going anywhere. >> I promise you. >> She's not going anywhere. We're hanging out. >> I will faint and literally back here. I >> Okay. Can you not say that right now? >> That's the truth. >> Listen, this this sob story you're trying to do and play us against with her. It's not going to work. All right. So, just stop. You're going to make it worse. You're lucky that we're letting her stand right here with you. So, just stop. >> What other family members going to call? Cuz he's not answering. >> Oh my goodness. I have my my friend that family members. >> God, I don't know anyone else. You can try to call maybe my friend that that she's she's close to >> my dad. >> I just called him twice. He didn't answer. Tommy is fine. We're not going anywhere. Okay. We're just hanging out. All right. >> You can call a fire truck for you. It's not going to change anything, though. >> I think you might have to. I'm not I'm really >> Your daughter's going to be here by herself with him cuz somebody You're not coming out. >> Please don't hurt her. >> You're not coming out of those. Why would we her? This is the example you're trying to set for your daughter right now. Like, we're the bad people. You're the one that left her unattended for 2 hours in a car. Don't try to pin us to be that in front of her. >> Finally, the child was entrusted to a trusted person. someone who put the child's safety above all. Unlike the mother who made the gym her top priority, >> she's going to jail right now for child. >> She I don't know why, but she's having a hard time understanding of the totality of the circumstances of what she did wrong. That's neither here nor there. Her story is just very very inconsistent of what's happened from yesterday until the moment we met her. I don't know what's going on. It's none of my business. My concern is her child. >> Yeah. >> I appreciate you coming out here and taking of her child. Um, let's see if she wants to talk to you. I'm sure she will. >> The whole reason you're handcuffed has nothing to do with your tire being blown out. It has to do with your decision of leaving your kid in the car unattended. Does that make sense to you now? >> I'm so sorry. >> I did take a little bit of look at your record. Quite a few traffic is not a big deal, but some of them are not seat belting your child. I've seen all up and down the state of Florida. Just got to make sure that you're making those smart decisions for your your little girl cuz again, you're her mom. You're in charge of her. The rescue's here and they're going to check you out. Okay. Can I ask you what happens when I like how do I come back to my daughter? I will be I'll be she'll be able to come. My friend will be able to go. >> Yeah. They comment if you post a bond and they'll be able to, you know, bond really loud and all that good stuff. Okay. Here. You're going to be here to check that. >> How are you? >> After numerous excuses, Christina was charged with child. Under Florida law, she could face up to 5 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 with bail ranging from $2,500 to $3,500. Remember, the gym is important, but your child's safety is more important than any membership card. Don't let your passion for working out become a costly lesson from the police. Let your child live. In a tense night in Illinois, a boy suddenly spoke and every word revealed the hidden hell behind the family door. And if I remember one time he held her down and like started looking at her and like burned her a cigarette. >> On October 26th, 2024, an emergency call alerted the police to a [music] case of domestic. They arrived at the scene immediately outside the house. The mother and three children stood trembling, ready to recount the terrifying story of the abductive stepfather. >> So what happened? >> He went out drinking with his family and he just got home. I went outside, knocked on his window, and I'd seen that he was texting a girl saying, "I'll meet you right now." So, I'm like, "So, you're cheating on me?" "Okay, you can ask my kids." They saw him shoving me down out here. So, I come inside and I shut the door and he the door literally in. Now, I don't have this glass and [ __ ] and [ __ ] around in. I'm just tired of this. I can't I can't do this anymore. And if you come in, you can actually see where the door is actually off the heated like all this >> the door frame busted out. He lives here, right? >> Yes. >> Unfortunately, as far as the damaged property go or damaged property goes, we can't really do much about that. That's between you and him because >> we have to get >> Can I not use this against him in court? >> Oh, absolutely. 100%. I mean, >> cuz this is every weekend. >> If I was you, I would go to the women's shelter and fill out an OP order right now. >> And that will keep him from coming here, even though it's a marital property. >> No. If you get an OP because you're scared of him, which I mean, obviously he's shattering glass, kicking doors off the frame, you got your kids scared. I think you can articulate that you're scared of him. You know, you're >> they will will serve him with it. He can't come back. You can list kids. You can list whatever residence, your job, whatever. that he can't come within 500 ft of. If he does, then I mean, he's going to get arrested every time. >> So, will the OP keep him away though? >> Well, I mean, if it doesn't every time he violates it, he'll just get arrested. >> So, eventually he either gets tired of getting arrested and he leaves you alone or the judge gets tired of him getting arrested and just keeps him in jail for a while. With the OP, he can't call you, he can't text you, he can't Facebook message you, none of that. If he does, he screenshot it, you bring it to the police department, and that's a violation as well. So, just real quick, tell me I mean, I know you said you went out there and talked to him about >> what was going on. So, what led up to the like he got out of the car, like tell me what happened after you [snorts] knocked on the window and talked to him. >> Okay. I called him and asked him if he was coming home cuz like here lately he's been going out a lot with his family. I call him and I'm like, "Hey, are you going to be home soon?" And he's like, "Yeah." So, he's outside listening to music really loud. I go out there and I'm like making sure he's okay, you know, and I read through the window him texting a girl saying he could would meet her anytime, all this other [ __ ] So I'm I knock on the window and I'm like, "So you're cheating on me? Like for real?" You know, I'm here with our kids and stuff and you're like cheating on me. Like are you serious? So I come inside because he like gets out and like me down out there. The kids are all >> you down now. Just >> like he gets out of the car and like >> your hand. >> Yes. Like you can ask them. This is often this happens. I come running inside cuz they're all like out on the porch and I'm like get the inside. He is coming after me. This isn't the first time. I'm sure y'all had records of him. >> Well, I I know we've been here one other time, but >> Well, he runs up here because I shut and lock the door. He kicks the door in and like comes over here and me up against this wall and the kids are like, "Please stop." And he runs over here and starts like pushing the glass. >> So, he showed you like into that corner >> and he also grabbed this chair and threw it across the room. >> That didn't >> Well, he threw it here and then threw it across the room, >> but that didn't anybody He hit the table right here. >> Luckily, it didn't break the table. >> Yeah, I know. The second time I've had to replace the glass on it. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> A young boy carefully recounted what his mother had endured. >> Sure. You want to? >> Okay. So, um he he came over here. He was out drinking with his family and he came back and then my mom knocked on his window because he she found out he was cheating on her and then he got mad and started screaming, yelling and pushed her down over there and she ran back into the house, closed the door and locked it. And then he kic it down and started pushing the window and started like throwing stuff and acting like he was going. And it's not the first time that happened. It happened a lot. >> Who is he? Is it your dad or somebody else? Step. Where do you think he might have gone? >> To his parents house. >> Where's that at? >> Sixth Street. >> Is the door all screwed up? >> Yeah, it's coming off the hinges in the bottom. He pushed them down pretty hard. >> Your head on anything over here or just >> I don't know. I just watched him push it down and I ran and looking for phone to call you off, but then he she already called you up. >> Okay. It's like every weekend he goes and drinks with his family and stuff. >> Mhm. >> And it it happens a lot. And I remember one time he held her down and like started again and like burned him a cigarette. >> What happened to him then? Did he get arrested by us or >> I don't know. It happened if I wasn't here. >> What do you want to happen to him? What do you think should happen? >> I don't know. I just don't like him at all. Although the police emphasized [snorts and music] that the mother and children could protect themselves if in danger, she couldn't hide her worry as they left. >> Let me go get the statement form for you and we'll get you filling that out. >> Hey, will we all please get in here? >> Yeah, it's kind of chilly out there. >> Are you talking to him? That's okay. Come on inside. >> Let's see what >> I'm surprised that he's really the door. >> All right, and I guess we're also going to have to replace this. >> We're also going to have to replace this. Yeah, that's some trim. That That'll be close to the That's where the dead bolt was. >> This has happened about >> 30 times. And Cindy's never been that mean before. He's honestly don't. >> He's just a lot of bears. >> My question is in the state of Illinois, do you guys have a stand your ground law? >> You can defend yourself >> if you're in fear for their safety. >> So, as long as it's not like fatal. Well, I mean, as long as it's not just like him kicking the door and you just >> Okay. So, what if I hit him with a [laughter] like blunt weapon then? >> Yeah. Like I said, it's all situational and we can't really tell you what if for every situation >> cuz like he's a lot bigger than me. So, and I'm scared like if he comes back like what the am I going to do? >> But he won't come back tonight. All righty. Well, hopefully your dad can come fix your door. There's a corona in the center console. [snorts] >> Hiding in a corner, the [music] stepfather thought he had escaped, but the police found him. After aent struggle, he was finally subdued with a taser. >> It's awfully dark for him to come down here. Sure, they turned all the lights off. >> It's fenced down on the other side, too. Well, I look through the gap back there. There's a white shepherd staring at me. Just saw one eye glowing, peeking through the crack. >> Here come here comes somebody. >> Looks like somebody's moving. >> Oh, >> hey. I'm Officer Gilner. Yeah. Tribles Police Department. I need to speak with Sydney. >> Hang on. >> Yep. So tell me >> what do you want to know? >> Tell me what happened. >> Bust out my glass and came over here. >> What? >> Busted out my front door glass. Mine which is mine. >> Okay. >> And came over here. >> That's all you did was busted the glass and came over here >> and Yeah. And talk [ __ ] I mean never touched anybody. never faithfully touched anything. Kids were not. >> Why'd you bust the glass? >> Cuz she pissed me off. >> How'd she do that? >> Cuz your eyes are running her mouth. >> What was she saying? >> Everything in there. >> Okay. >> So, you drove over here? >> Nope. >> I went and got him. >> Yep. >> I mean, at this time, you're going to be put under arrest for domestic battery. >> Why? >> Cuz she's got a statement and then the kids have a statement that >> No, I'm not going to doubt. >> You are? >> No, I'm not. Yes, you are. >> Don't fight me. >> Don't fight me. You're going to >> I tell you right now, I'm not going to get tased. You're about to get tased. >> I tell you right now, I'm not going to go back. I'm not. >> You're going to get tased. Don't fight. >> Put your hands behind. >> You're going to get tased. >> Stop. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> You need to get out of the way. >> Get out of the way before you go with it >> because you'll go for obstruction. >> Get out of the way. >> You can go to jail, too. Don't >> He did not do nothing. >> You don't know you weren't there. >> I haven't TOUCHED ANYBODY. COME AT ME ONE MORE TIME. GET OUT OF THE WAY OR YOU'RE GOING to go with us. Move. >> Give me your hands. >> Put your hands BEHIND YOUR BACK. PUT YOUR HANDS behind your back. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> Send me. >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> You won't stop. >> Get away from us now. PUT YOUR HANDS behind your back. >> I can't. >> Roll over. >> Roll over. >> YOU'RE GOING NEXT. AND YOU'RE GOING TO GO, TOO. >> Send us some more units. We got some more people to take. You stop. >> Put your hand behind your back. >> Your other hand. >> HE'S TRYING. >> NO, HE'S NOT. IS YOUR HAND BEHIND YOUR BACK. You're going to go to jail, too, if you don't stop. You got right in our damn way. That's called obstructing. >> That's my son. >> And >> And the point of it is that's my son. >> And you got in our way. >> I did not get in your way. >> You got right in. >> You stood RIGHT IN THE BETWEEN >> AND I MOVED >> AND YOU STEPPED RIGHT back in >> because you guys Oh my god. >> Go back inside. His mother, though not guilty, was also drawn into the incident while trying to protect her son. >> You want to take her, too? Yeah. Yeah. You're under arrest, too. Don't go inside. I mean, I'll come in and get you. It's fine. >> We'll do report get a warrant for her if you don't come out here. >> Come on. >> Come out here, ma'am. >> Come out here. >> Come out here. You're under arrest. >> Oh my god. >> You're under arrest for obstructing. >> I did not do >> You did. And it's all on camera. Step out here. >> I'm right here. >> Okay. Step out. Put your hands behind your back. >> Oh my god. >> You're under arrest for obstructing. >> I tried to tell you. >> Don't get in our way. >> I didn't. He was. >> He was not. >> Will you please loosen this? >> When we get to the car. >> Stop. >> I will loosen them when we get to the car. I promise you that. You won't go into the car with them that time. >> Don't fight. >> YOU KNOW I HAVE ASTHMA. >> OKAY. >> SO THAT'S FOR you here. >> Are you >> Hey, I kind of do have a question. Where was his rights at on this deal? taking her word, not his. >> Yeah. I mean, I'm being civilized. >> Yeah. No, you're not. You're not being put on my >> He's good. He's good. Just watch her. >> So, here here's how it works. >> So, she gave a written statement that she's going to sign a sworn statement. >> MHM. >> They're just trying to keep her away cuz she keeps trying to get to him. >> The mother and child continue to struggle, turning the scene into a chaotic spectacle. >> Stop fighting. I'LL TASE YOU, TOO. >> STOP. >> I'm not listening. I WAS WALKING TO MY BACKYARD. I was going to say, "Let me have her. You know, I'll get her to cool down." >> No, she's going to jail. >> Hey, I got you. >> Would you? >> She got right on his leg. >> I've got >> here. Roll over to your side. Pull your feet up. >> It didn't work. >> Quit squeezing my hand. Get the off me. >> You're squeezing my hand. >> You're getting an act charge. You understand? >> Let's go. Stop it, >> Steve. This is hurting. >> Stop sighting and it will not This is my wrist. >> Oh god. Please. >> Okay. >> Please >> stop. Calm down. I will loosen them. >> I know. >> Oh my god. >> Calm down. >> It is my >> I can fit my fingers in there. >> No, you can't. >> Yes, I can. I can fit two fingers in there. >> Quit blowing away. It would stop. >> I could fit two finger. Okay, let me readjust your hand then. I would if I coulding BREATHE CUZ THESE [ __ ] ARE on me. >> You're yelling. You're breathing. >> Oh, that's how you want to cause my breathing. You dumb. >> Like I said, we got an ambulance coming for you. Check you out. You're going to go to jail. You fight with us in court, not out here. >> Oh yeah, court. I'm going have your badge. >> By all means. >> Well, you going to be with you or not, you dumb. >> I'll find something to do. >> Tell these mother on my back. Amid the [snorts] chaos, only the stepfather's father remained calm. The sole anchor preventing the storm of tension from erupting. >> You don't get to make demands after the way you reacted. >> Oh, because I have health issues. >> What health issues? >> Should have thought of that before you started fighting. >> Back to what I was trying to tell you. >> The kids, >> at least two of them >> have identical statements. They talked to him outside away from mom. I was inside. Oh, >> stop. >> He got out of the car cuz they were arguing. >> I didn't leave [ __ ] >> You're on the ground. >> Okay. >> They went inside, locked the door. That door I I know it's it's y'all's property. Is that who it is? Okay. That doors. You're going to have to get a whole new door. >> Front door. >> I mean, the frame is busted where the deadlock and everything busted out. But you can't even secure the door, right? He busted the glass out. >> I mean, it's in there, but it shattered. >> He got inside, started yelling at her. >> I want to [ __ ] charge. >> She was trying to get away. Oh god. >> He took her over in a corner, sl her up against the wall, started throwing chairs around and [ __ ] >> Why is that my own? >> Cuz she said she was going to copy. >> So in the state of Illinois, if they're they have a relationship, they live together. Somebody goes to jail for domestic. >> Okay, >> that's how it is. There's an aggressor that both people can go. >> But he wouldn't give us a story of anything that like she could have done. >> So he's goes, all it is is he goes before the judge. The judge decides by her statement and his statement >> in court if charges are necessary, >> right? >> That's all it was going to be >> until we're ended up this way. >> Tempered. >> Yeah. And I understand he's intoxicated. That plays a part in it. >> I get it. But he can't lunge at me. >> I got you on that. I mean, that's just unacceptable. >> Them mother lying, Dad. I do. I laugh. >> This is going to be plain and simple. He goes into jail. >> Okay. sees the judge and it goes from there. Right now, he would sit in the judge until tomorrow. They do the pre-trial release, stuff like that. It wasn't going to be that big a deal. >> He already knew what was going to happen if she filed a complaint. >> The stepfather was arrested and detained on charges of domestic battery and resisting arrest. Under Illinois law, he could face a maximum [music] sentence of up to 7 years in prison and a $50,000 fine. >> There's no reason to mother to be here. Period. I don't give a anything. Now if I pushed their ass, I understand. I ain't do to any [clears throat] one of the motheres on the police force. You seen what happened, Dad? I'm suing these mother. Get mom out before I get out. I swear to God, I'm me a lawyer. I'm suing everying out here. >> I'll take care of your mom or daughter. >> Your mom will be released as soon as she prints and everything. So >> this story shows that sometimes it's the children who grow brave while the adults leave only destruction and broken doors behind. The video may end but the questions remain. Why do adults let emotions take over? Why must children witness moments they should never experience? And why do so many people realize the consequences [music] only when formal procedures begin? These four stories all point to one truth. Families need not only love but also reason and responsibility. Thank you for watching until the end.
