So, give me my kid. LET ME LEAVE. NOW. >> WHAT'S GOING ON? NO. WHAT'S GOING ON? >> YOU'RE NOT CLOSING the door on me. That's not going to happen. That's not going to happen. >> Okay. >> No, I did not try to do that. I did not try to do that. >> Sometimes, the place a child feels safest in can turn into a situation that raises [music] concern. >> But, I haven't seen anything and she hasn't been flinching when you touch her or anything. >> Why am I getting arrested? What the hell am I getting arrested for? >> The truth is, these stories may not be connected, but they often begin with small moments. And in the end, it is always the children who bear the most serious consequences. Some forms of harm are not visible, yet they quietly leave lasting impacts on a child's emotional well-being. >> So, whatever is going to happen to her, I don't want no parts of it. Whatever y'all going to do, whatever y'all going to do, press charges against me, I don't give >> On February 24th, 2025, at a high school in North Port, Florida, after a game had ended, a minor was left alone when all attempts to reach their guardian went unanswered. The school ultimately called 911 to ensure the situation was handled safely. >> Hey, how you doing? It's Officer Negron with North Port Police Department. >> Yeah. >> Quick question, do you have the contact informa- or the contact number? What is it? >> it all copied for you. >> Well, go ahead, give it to me so I can talk to her real quick while I head over there. >> Their name is Audrey Black. >> And last time you spoke to her was around what time? >> Before 9:00 and I was on speaker phone. My assistant principal was here also. Heard her say that she was not going to come pick her up. >> Did she give a reason or no? >> Her reason was that somebody had come up here to pick her up and she wasn't out there and left and she could figure out her own way home. >> Okay. And And as far as you know, there's Is there a history not being picked up? >> Not that I know of. No. I mean, she's been to other games, peppers and that afterwards and been picked up. This the first time. But, our games are over. Like, this is over before 9:00 tonight. >> Mhm. All right, sounds good. I'll be over there. How you doing? You mind if we just talk away from her? So, she was at a She was at a a game today, basketball game. And the game ended around what time? >> It ended before 9:00 because I called at 8:30. >> 8:30. >> Okay. >> So, we usually wait around, get everybody out. Comes to light that she doesn't have a ride. Clock's ticking, probably like 8:45, 8:50. We really We tell her, "Hey, we got to call somebody to go and get you, come get you cuz nobody's coming." So, we call and then we get You know, I guess. So, we get the paperwork. >> So, that's the information. >> And then ultimately, what does she say to us? She says >> She says, "I'm not coming to pick her up." >> She had a ride, she didn't take the ride, she has to figure it out. >> And we can't do that to a 13-year-old. >> And then her cousin was going to come. >> This one. >> But then it looks like the >> of this one not to come pick her up. >> Okay. Do you know the stories with her birth mother? Is she in a picture at all or no? >> According to she's in jail. >> Yeah, she's in Florida or something. >> I don't know. I didn't ask her. She's new to us. Yeah. >> How long has she been coming here for? >> When did you come to us? September early >> Do you have a car? >> November. >> Do you have a car going to us now cuz we tried making a phone contact and couldn't. >> Yeah. They're not picking up. See? Well, this one that we called I thought I did. >> Did you call him, too? >> Uh yeah, and uh tried to leave a message. Nobody picked up on that one or anything. >> Yeah, we left him multiple messages. >> Are you cold? Come come you can sit in my car. Go ahead, you got a seat. >> Cuz she has been done at the game, she's been picked up before, so I never had an issue and I've never had like, "No, I'm not coming to pick you up." In all the years, I mean, I've Eric and I were talking, said probably in the 19 years we've been together. >> Mhm. It's a quick picture right here. Boom. >> as administrators, have we not had somebody refuse to pick them up? >> Yeah, I was I was reading this and I was I was That's why I called you before I came. I just wanted to make sure I was reading right. >> We've been doing this a long long time. We've never had a refusal. >> Right. We've had some that don't have rides. They're trying everything, you know, so we've had that before. >> And and she's you contacted cousin and the cousin told told you I'm not letting her >> She was not coming to pick up somebody allegedly have come here. And that she had to figure out we both heard it that we had to figure >> She She said, "Quote, I'm not coming to get her. She needs to figure it out and get her way home." We said, "Man, we're calling North Port PD." >> So that was after that was afterward. >> Because we got this guy to come get her. That one >> And he was coming. >> But apparently she tells him not to come. >> That's what he said. >> Yep. That's what he told me. That's what he told me. >> And so he turns himself around. And when you told you told Audrey you're calling us, what she said? >> I told him. I said I said, "Look." I said cuz he was supposed to come pick her up and we waited and waited and he didn't come. And so we sat there and I called him back. I said, "Look." I said, "This is the situation. We will be calling North Port police to come pick her up and take her home." Bottom line. I said, "I cannot have a minor. I cannot transport can't transport or anything else and this is the way it is." >> So you know who spoke to this person? >> No, we tried to leave a message, right? >> All right, we'll see how this goes then. >> Okay, thank you so much. >> No problem. >> During that time, the child sat in a police vehicle visibly shaken without a phone and without a clear way to get home as alternative arrangements were not permitted. >> You're in You're in good hands, okay? So he'll talk and get things straightened out hopefully for you, okay? >> All right, girl. We'll see you tomorrow. Hey, what's going on? My name is Officer You can call me Lewis. What What happened tonight? >> So I was I had before >> Uh-huh. >> like the game. and he like come to the game he said yes so I had went and then >> I'm sorry. Let's find let's find my partner right now. I'm going to be one second. You know what you know where your address is? No. Is it a new house? Okay. Is this does this look right though? Right there. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, she's saying that's her address. All right, so what were you >> I was saying that like I was like looking for a ride before the game even ended because I didn't know if I I don't know if they'd pick me up so I had to text He asked um I asked him to um like give me a ride he said yeah he would call see if she could pick me up [music] because she had the car. Then I would I kept on texting him asking him if he was here if she was here or like is she going to pick me up. I came outside to drop my friend off cuz she was going well he was going home. >> Mhm. >> So I I I was uh walking down like five times. I was like out here for 10 minutes trying to see if my car was here. I didn't see him so I went back inside to text off my friend's phone because I don't have a phone. Like 20 minutes later they finally answered saying I guess you're going to have to walk home and then I was like trying to look for a ride. Everybody couldn't take me. >> They text you on your friend's phone saying that? >> Yes. I kept on like trying to get ride from other people but they couldn't take me home so and then she called that uh she said she wasn't going to uh pick me up uh my me to walk home because that's probably what just told them to tell me to walk home because she didn't nobody was going to pick me up. >> Mhm. >> So she called her then she had yet Facebook jail that I heard about telling her that she's not going to take me home. She called my uncle he did not answer. She called my cousin he was supposed to pick me up but Audrey did told him to not pick me up. >> And why would she do that? >> I don't really think she likes me like >> How long have you been saying that? >> Since I was like two or one. >> Oh so okay you've been saying it for a while. >> Yes. >> Okay. And you never had a problem like this before? >> Not really no. >> Okay. You guys just moved here right? To Florida? >> Yeah. No we moved to Florida eight years ago, but we just moved into this new house. >> All right, let's see if we could if we could figure this out, okay? >> Okay. >> Yeah, you smoke, sir? What'd you say? Oh, so we're not rushing tonight then? Okay. >> When officers arrived at the residence, they observed a lack of urgency or concern. The response they encountered appeared distant, [music] and that reaction contributed to the situation escalating further. >> Hello. How you doing, Audrey? >> Can I help you? >> Yes, you can. I'm Officer Ingram from the Fort Worth Police Department. I'm speaking to Audrey? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, I have in the car. We're just going to ask some questions before we uh we finish this up. So, from what I understood, the principal was telling me she had a basketball game today, and she was supposed to get picked up, and she didn't. >> She lied and so she can stay at the game. >> Okay. >> She got She had a >> Okay. >> where she said she was going to be or where she was supposed to be. >> Uh-huh. >> So, her ride left. >> And her ride was you or someone else? >> No, most definitely not me cuz she didn't call me. She had a ride. >> Mhm. >> She wasn't there for her ride to pick her up. >> Okay. >> So, whatever is going to happen to her, I don't want no parts of it. Whatever y'all going to do, whatever y'all going to do, press charges against me, I don't give >> Okay. >> I'm too old for this. But, she's been That's what she said. So, now we at this point. >> Okay, how long have you You said >> Yeah, I'm I'm done with her. Whatever. I mean, you know, take me to court, sign me up, whatever, do whatever, but I'm not dealing with this any longer. >> Okay, so she told you she had cheer? >> She didn't tell me >> Okay, so from what you know >> 4:30. >> Okay, and if she didn't show up at 4:30 >> I was at work. On my way home from work, I said, "I'm on my way to pick her up to take her to cheer practice." >> Okay. >> I was around the corner on Home Brook Road right before I turned on Home Brook Road and this street. >> Uh-huh. >> She She's at the game. >> Okay. >> So, I mean, you know, whatever plan she made, that's the plan she stuck with. She didn't call me, she didn't ask me, she didn't do anything with me. But, I was going to make sure she go to cheer practice because I ran over late at work. And whoever she had made plans with, they went to go get her. She wasn't where she was supposed to be. You don't know who was supposed to pick her up? >> It don't matter who was supposed to pick her up. >> Okay, no. You you keep saying someone, so I don't know if you know this person. >> She wasn't where she needed to be to be picked >> Okay, but you know the person who was supposed to pick her up. This wasn't a stranger. I understand. >> Remember, this is all that she conjured up. She wasn't where she was supposed to be to be picked up. >> Okay. >> So that person left. >> Okay. And what time was was she supposed to be picked up? Was she >> You don't know that either. Okay. >> You got to understand, I didn't even know that she was going to the game. I didn't even know anything about this until I was on my 5 minutes before I turned the corner. She said she doesn't have cheer, so she's going to be at the game. >> Okay. And who she tell that to then? If she's not telling you, that's what I'm trying to figure out. >> Yeah, she didn't tell me this. She didn't tell me anything. >> So who's telling you this if she's not telling you? >> The person who I asked said, "Tell her to be ready for me to take her." >> Oh, I think this is okay. She must have she texted you from one of her friend's phone. Is that what it is? >> me. >> Okay, she texted someone? >> She texted someone, but she didn't text me. >> Okay. >> But yet and still, every my name is being dragged. Hey Audrey, hey Audrey, hey Audrey. The person who called me, but when she was scheming and doing all of this, she didn't call me. >> Okay. >> She did not call me. She did not text me cuz she knew she was doing some shady And she's been doing this for a very long time. I am done. >> Okay. >> She put herself in this predicament. She need to find a way to get out of it. For her to sit up here and put this situation into the point to where it is, no, I'm not going to get her. No, I'm not going out my way. I'm done. >> So when you say you're done, what do you mean? >> Do whatever you need to do. I've been dealing with her far too >> You know, it's not it's not up to us. We're just trying to understand where where you stand at. That's what it is. >> I'm done with her. >> Okay, because of this incident? >> No, this this is the straw that broke the camel's back. >> Okay. >> So this is not the first that we've been dealing I've been dealing with her and her lies and her conniving stuff. It's just now she's understanding that what she want to do is not going to happen and this is how far it's going to go. >> Okay. >> And I'm not caving in. >> Caving in as in what? >> I'm done with her. I'm done with her and her >> Okay. >> I don't have to deal with it and I'm not. >> Audrey, you might just I think I have your last name. What you did about Audrey? >> What do you need that for? >> Yeah, well I need the information to pass along. >> They can put me in the car. >> So let's let's back up. I'm in jail. Let's let's just be a little more respectful. So I'm assuming you're you're pissed, you're livid, whatever you want to call her. What you did though is considered you let them >> That is correct. >> Well, she did and then she didn't. >> Okay, she did. She wasn't where she was supposed >> I understand. >> That means she was doing she wasn't supposed something she wasn't supposed to be. >> You're absolutely right. >> So whatever what what you need to take me to jail? Do I need to put on my shoes? >> not trying to do that. I'm trying to talk to you. >> my pajamas? >> I'm trying to talk to you, get your information and I can handle this. But if you refuse to if you refuse to give me your information >> Do you know that I can >> if you refuse to give me your information >> from going into system? >> I can't imagine. But what I'm telling you is if you do refuse to give me your information then you're hindering my investigation and then I have to arrest you just for that. I don't want to do that. I don't want to take no one to jail. You're not closing the door on me. That's not going to happen. That's not going to happen. >> I asked you do I need to put my pajamas on or my shoes on? >> brother man, we're good. We're good. We're good. >> HOLD ON. HOLD ON. AND I ASKED you do I need to put my shoes AND MY PAJAMAS ON? >> I JUST told you I do not want to take you to jail. >> But you want me to give you my information. >> Yeah, so I can pass it to handle this then I have to pass it to them. Yeah, she doesn't have your birthday. >> You don't have my information? >> They only have your name. They don't get a case unless we give them your information. That's what it's getting at. >> I'm getting that is I refuse to bow down to her >> You shouldn't have to. >> And you but you still go here. Okay, I was told YOU'RE NOT THE FIRST OFFICER at my door. You're not the first officer at my door is what I'm saying. The first officer told me was coming. >> I'm not sure when they're going to come. Mhm. All right. I got to I got to talk to her. I'm sorry. Can I talk to you then, sir? >> Yeah. >> All right. You want to talk to my partner? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> All I'm saying is >> Do you have your shoes on or anything? >> No, I'm all right. >> Appreciate it. >> She's not coming back in my house. >> Okay. Officers then decided to place the woman under arrest as the situation raised serious concerns. >> Audrey, I just spoke to my supervisor and from these situations get real like technical. All right. >> From what I was told, now what will happen is this will get sent tonight. If they want to be called out, they'll come tonight. If not, then they'll come tomorrow morning. >> Well, but then they need to come tonight. >> comes, you can tell them on the spot, I don't want to I don't want to do nothing. Leave. >> to come tonight cuz if she come in >> She's going to come in probably. >> And then I'm going to put my hands on her. And then y'all be back here. >> Again, let me explain >> I'm ready. I'm ready to go to jail cuz this I don't have to deal with. I'm too old for it. >> Uh-huh. >> I don't want no more parts of it. I actually did everything right here standing in front of you of what was going to happen. Y'all will either be back out here come out here tonight. >> Okay. You guys mind if I chat? >> I don't got nothing to do with it. I don't know what happened. >> No, it has nothing to do with that. Is Is that your mom? >> That's my mother-in-law. >> Is there any way you guys can calm her down or or talk her, just persuade her? Cuz I I told her, I'm going to tell you guys, I'm being straight up. I don't want to take anyone to jail. But we have to by law This is freaking you out, all right? I hate frogs, too. >> Do you hear what he's saying? >> frogs. So, I don't know if you guys could talk her down a little bit or what. >> That's his mother. I don't know what he's saying. >> I can't do nothing. >> Then >> Yeah, it sounds like it's either her way or the highway. Yeah. All right. How you doing? What's wrong? >> I'm scared. >> So, Audrey [snorts] >> Yeah. >> is pretty upset. She's just saying you were lying to her and whatnot. >> Lying to her about what? >> I'm not sure. She said you were supposed to have cheer practice, but then you guys lied and said that you were going to stay at the basketball game. >> I did stay at the basketball game. >> Yeah, she said originally you supposed to have a cheer practice and you didn't show up. >> He said yes, it's fine. >> Mhm. >> So, I don't know what the problem is. >> Okay. All right, well, let me let me quick, okay? What you like? Why is it hot? >> Yeah, I just don't like being in the car. >> You want me to open the window? I just I can't let you out right now. Just give me 2 seconds, okay? What you like? All right, so I told your Is your wife? >> Yes. >> All right, so I told your wife. Is Is she normally like this? She normally gets this upset? >> This first time she's done something this far. >> So, is she Is she going to go in the house or >> I don't know. >> Well, how do you think? >> I don't know how to help the ball. >> You understand where we're coming from? We're different agencies. So, I can't say what another agency's going to do. Yeah. >> We look at things differently. We want to happen to work with you. I promise you that. It's a civil issue and it should stay at that. >> Hopefully it will. All right, brother. >> Just give us a call, all right? >> You too. >> Police department. >> Hello, Audrey. >> Yes. >> How are you How are you? >> Good. >> Sorry, you have a warrant. Do you have Do you want to get dressed real quick? Right here. >> I'm going to change my daughter. Oh, and you're going to handcuff me? >> Yeah. >> Well, give me a minute so I won't drop anything. >> Uh while we wait for dispatch to confirm it, you can make a phone call if you like. >> How am I going to make a phone call? >> We can help you with it. >> You should offer that to me beforehand. >> Ma'am, we're being courteous. We don't have to do it for you, okay? So, relax. Don't be nasty to us. We didn't do anything. >> You're here. >> Yeah, because this is what we're supposed to do. This is our job. We just supposed to ignore the judge and not come over here? >> Why are you here? Either way I go, I wasn't getting >> So, I can we can try to alleviate the stress by helping you make a phone call and stuff like that. >> I going to make a phone call? >> We can help you with it. We can hold it for you while you call whoever you want to call. We have to search your bag. Is there anything in there? You'd be surprised. That's why I ask. >> Do what you got to do. I'm already out here in handcuffs. >> Yeah, we can go out in the car. >> The woman was charged with child neglect. Under Florida law, she may face up to 5 years in prison along with a fine of up to $5,000. Raising a child may involve discipline, but it should never come at the expense of their safety. A child's well-being should never be put at risk as a way of teaching a lesson. What is the cost of misplaced trust, and is there always a chance to make things right? >> Do you have any any pain or anything? >> No, just scared a little bit. >> On September 11th, 2025, on Frank Boulevard, a sudden crash disrupted the entire area. Yet, amid the chaos, what stood out most was not the sound of impact, but the sight of children inside the vehicle, shaken and frightened after narrowly avoiding serious >> Do you need EMS? >> Um, I I think so. She's And I >> You're in the black car? >> No, no, no, no. He's in the black car. I took I jammed her keys so she couldn't get out. >> Was she trying to drive away? >> Are you a witness? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Have you been drinking? >> No. >> All right, go ahead and step out of that vehicle. >> Yeah, it's a kid in there, and there's the one over here. The lady, she just grabbed her. >> Okay, hold on. All right, we're going to go over here. Okay, hold on. Where did the other kids go? >> The dude is one right here, and this the other one right here. I just jumped in the car and because she was trying to drive away, I just jammed the keys so she couldn't drive. She couldn't move the car. >> You're the other driver? >> I'm this car. >> Okay. Who else is in it? >> Just me. >> Just you? Can I have your ID and then your insurance information? >> Any 700 units on the air? >> Have you been using >> No. >> Okay, then why How do you the car You're stopped in the middle of the road. Okay. So >> Why are you stopped in the middle of the road like this? >> I'm not stopped in the middle of the road. >> Okay. Uh, well, that's not happening right now. Uh So would you be willing to perform some standard field sobriety tests? >> Sure. >> All right. And then wait, I I can kind of see what happened, but just in your own words. >> Uh we were we were parked. The light was red and we were all back here and I'm sitting there and I look in my rearview mirror and I'm like, no way that person's stopping. And uh she saw it and I I think the brakes. I'm not sure I think I heard a squeal tire, but the impact was as you can see >> What time was car 9? >> The impact was pretty uh significant. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> We're going to go over to the sidewalk. >> All right. >> I have no idea what I'm doing. You know, here's all you. >> What's going on right now? >> over here. >> What time was car 9? >> Up to the sidewalk. >> All right. >> You all right? You have any any pain or anything? >> No, just scared a little bit. >> It's all right. >> Give her your sheet. Give her your sheet. >> Yeah, get it. >> And now after all this going on, what the is that? >> Well, you hit a car. That's what happened. Remember when I asked you what happened hit the hit you the car? >> I did not hit the car. >> Well, that's that's what happened. Can we get the kid to go elsewhere? Please, can someone? >> She's right in front of my car my house. >> Where do you live at? >> Right here. 9981 >> So, which >> Avenue. >> Okay, we're not we're on Frank Boulevard. >> Right in front of Bloomfield Avenue. >> What's your phone number? >> My phone number? >> Yeah. >> Sure. My phone number is What? Oh my god, this is >> Tension rose as the woman repeatedly denied responsibility, but witness statements indicated that she had collided with two vehicles [music] and then attempted to leave while in an impaired and unstable state. >> Hello, did y'all see what happened? >> I was in the car with my neighbor. >> Okay. >> My daughter was supposed to get in the car with her. I had to go pick my son up for soccer practice and they she offered to for my daughter to come over and eat dinner with them and I said it was fine but her daughter was supposed to have soccer and she I said my daughter can't go to soccer with her cuz she's going to punish her. She can go for dinner instead but make sure she can come back home. She called me screaming talking about she was driving crazy, wouldn't let her out the car, they got into an accident and stuff like that until I heard the swish when they trying to get her not to pull over or whatever but she was trying to pull over and she saying her >> Uh but before you start we're going to ask some ask some questions, okay? >> Okay. Do you have any injuries with your eyes at all? Anything that makes them like nystagmus or anything like that? >> No. >> No? Do you wear any contacts, like hard contacts? Okay. So all I need you to do at this time is keep your eyes on here and with your eyes and your eyes only follow it. >> I don't even know what's going on. >> Well, we got the kids, which is perfect, right? >> Yeah. >> All right, did she hit Ian Masterson like that? >> Yeah, she said she ran into the she ran into the man in the back of his car and she was trying to run off and >> Okay. >> he followed her on the side and then I seen the baby so I just pulled on the side. So apparently and she rear-ended >> Yeah, she rear-ended vehicle, yeah. >> So in that process >> So she hit two cars in the process. >> Yeah. So >> Where's the other car at? >> The gray car. >> Okay. >> Um do you need a tow for your car? >> No, but I think my I can't I can't get that thing up but other than that I you know >> You can't get it up? Where do you live at? >> Uh just um South Crest which is about 7 minutes from here. >> Okay. >> Oh, look at that. Oh, you were you finessed it. That that was what we needed. >> Um He finessed. We were over there pulling, he just finessed it. >> No, we we got it off. >> We loosened it. Exactly. >> All right, so this is going to be a very similar to that test, but this time with your eyes and your eyes only, and you do follow this pen. Follow me. Don't move your head at all, okay? And uh can you go down a little bit like this? Go low a little bit less, a little bit >> Just so that your head's level. >> Okay. >> Okay. Just follow the pen with your eyes. >> And I feel bad. I mean, the poor kids and everything. >> Yeah, that was my daughter. So, I was hearing the yelling, she was calling me trying to say come give me my stuff. >> That was your daughter? >> Yeah, she like come give me my come give me my Where is you around? What do you see? >> These are her kids? >> No, one is her daughter. My daughter play with her daughter. >> Oh. >> So, my she came over before I left to get the other kids from school. She asked was it okay for my daughter to come to eat dinner with them. And I said that's fine, but she's on punishment cuz she said something about her daughter got soccer practice at 6:00. I said she can't go to soccer practice. If you could just send her back across the street, they stay across street from me. >> Yeah. >> So, my daughter >> Where's Do you have her daughter, too? >> No, her daughter not with me. >> Okay. >> Her daughter >> But you have your own daughter, that was it? >> This This lady stopped and she was in my daughter's car. >> your daughter was in the car, correct? >> Yeah, my daughter >> Did anyone get your daughter's information? >> During the assessment, she was unable to complete basic tasks, and her behavior showed clear signs of impairment [music] and lack of control. >> All right, so this next test is going to be a the walk and turn test. So, I'm going to demonstrate. >> All right, before that, do you have any physical limitations that are going to prevent you from performing performing this test? >> No. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I know I understand. Can you explain to me >> Go through Go through all the instructions first and demonstrate. >> Okay. Like explain? >> He's He's That's what he's doing right now. >> Yeah, but you know, for the test, I need you to assume the position while I give you the instructions. That's a part of the test. Does that make sense? >> No. >> Okay. So, as I do, I need you to assume this position. Take your left foot, put it out forward. Imagine a line right there. Now, with your right foot place it in front of your left foot like this. So, from this position you're going to take nine heel-to-toe steps with your heels touching your toe with each step. Do you understand the instructions I have given to you? >> Yes. >> Okay. Uh you can begin. >> So, so your feet should still be like this. Left left foot forward. You can begin. >> I don't understand. >> You don't understand the instructions? >> Okay, we'll go through them one more time. So, he needs you to stay like this. Left foot forward, right foot behind. Stay this. He's going to stay like that. He's with your hands by your side. He's going to go over the instructions one more time and then you're not going to start until he says begin, okay? >> Right. You're kidding me. Would you >> Yeah, the only thing I saw was the only thing I saw was the baby running. >> Can you do that, please? Okay, I don't think it's I don't think it'd be safe to continue the test if she's falling. >> So, she can try. It's fine. >> All right. Can you assume that position? >> So, with your And if And if you need to, you can take off your You can take off your flip flops. Would that be better? >> No, I'm good. >> Or you want to keep them on? You want to keep your shoes on? >> Sure. >> Or you can take them off. Whatever you think's going to help you do this test better. >> I I'm trying to understand the test. >> He went through it a second time and you still don't understand it? >> I'm trying to understand to keep Keep the test planted with my club pop sound. >> Okay, go. He's gone over what you need to do and you you still don't understand? >> I'm trying to understand. >> All right. Go over the one leg test. >> So, for this final test it's going to be the one leg stand test. So, this one is >> guys please Can you guys treat the police treat the Can you guys treat us please? Can you guys treat us Can you guys treat us Please treat us >> The situation continued to escalate. Officers proceeded with an arrest, but the woman resisted and her non-compliance continued even after being taken into custody. >> What? >> Can you please treat the police please? Please treat the police please. >> You don't want to do the test anymore? >> No, can you please treat the police? >> I have no idea what you're saying. >> Please treat the police please. Please treat the police please. Please treat the police please. >> I'll release you? >> No, please treat please please. >> All right, go ahead and listen. Go ahead and put your hands behind your back. Put your hands >> No, no, no. I'm not trying. I'm not. I'm trying God damn. I'm not. >> We're just going to put her in your car for now, okay? I'll uh Take a step down. >> I see that. Yes, I'm not drunk. Thank you. I'm not [ __ ] impolite. >> Separate your feet for me. >> Yes. >> Face the cruiser. >> Yes. >> Separate your feet. Do you have anything on you that's going to pull the >> No. I'm not a [ __ ] drunk or an impolite. Thank you. I'm trying to a cooperate with you. >> So, nothing on you? >> No. You people are not cooperating with me at This is how you want to Whatever. This is how you guys want to do this? Whatever. Okay, fine. >> Okay. >> This is how this is going to go? This is tough. >> Just one second. Let's see you in the back. Have a seat. >> This is so >> So, you vomited, huh? Sit in the car. Sit in the car. Put your feet in. Hi. I got to put your seatbelt on. >> All right. Sorry, all right. >> Come on. >> What? >> Open. >> We're not stopped. 28. >> 28. Wait. >> On station and a mile 9.6 with one female passenger. STOP. >> NO. >> Step out of the car. >> YOU ARE NOT DOING THAT. >> COME ON. >> WAIT. >> PUT HER IN THE BACK. >> HEY. WHAT'S IT GOING ON? NO, what's going on? Hey. No. Hey. What's going on? NO. WHAT'S GOING ON? I DON'T HAVE MY SHOES ON. What's going on? HEY. WHAT'S GOING ON? I DON'T HAVE MY SHOES ON. What's going on? >> Step out of the car. >> What's going on? >> Come over here. >> What is this? What is this place? >> This is a police station. >> What is this place? >> Yeah. It's a police station. I need you to stop fighting, okay? >> I'm not fighting anyone. >> Okay. I just just stop. >> I'm not fighting anyone. >> have. Don't do any of that. Just stop, okay? >> I'm not fighting anyone. Yes, you do need permission. >> No, you got into an accident with a child in the car and now you're >> I do need permission. Did I escape? >> No, you didn't escape. Obviously, you're in handcuffs to a bench. >> Yeah. I didn't escape. >> Let's go ahead and sit down back here, okay? >> No. >> Uh you're going to have to. We're We're going to have to force you into the car. >> No. >> I'm telling you right now if you don't do that, we're going to force you in the vehicle. You You understand? >> No. >> Okay. Okay. Do you want to do it like this? >> No. I'm not getting in. >> You are. >> No, I'm not. No, I'm not. I'm not getting in. >> Ooh, push that side in. So that way she can sit in the back. See if that's in there. If we turn her up I'll get her lower. Get in the car. Watch out. >> Watch out for her foot. >> Come on. >> Sit up. Be an adult. >> No. >> You've already made enough mistakes today. >> I'm a [ __ ] adult. >> Act like it. >> kids. >> [ __ ] quit. Go ahead and get the seatbelt. Go ahead and buckle that. >> The woman was charged with driving under the influence, child endangerment, and assault on a police officer. She could face a prison sentence ranging from 6 to 15 [music] years along with fines of up to $17,000. A single poor decision can lead to consequences that cannot be undone. Be cautious about who you trust with your child's safety. Trust is important, but awareness is what helps prevent the worst outcomes. Discipline is meant to protect and guide, but when it turns into fear and hate the line between the two can be separated by only a very small step. >> You're not going to bully each other. You're not going to bully other students. >> On January 26th, 2023, the situation began with a report of school bullying. The mother arrived at the school not to listen, but with harsh and confrontational language. Law enforcement officers quickly responded to the scene. >> How you going to tell me I can't have my children? They have no No relation No relation to you. No nothing. They are my children. You can't tell me I can't have my kids. >> So, this parent here all right. >> No, I'm not all right. >> There was a There was a conversation um with you guys. >> Yeah, basically there was a dispute um between the two sisters. So, I was with another teacher, Ms. Cook Martin. We we we called Ms. Parker. >> Can I talk to one of y'all? >> We'll be with you in a second. We'll go to speak with you. >> Huh? >> We'll be with you in a minute. >> But, they're going to lie to y'all. >> We hear both sides and then that's how it works. >> But, I'm still I'm still seeing her waiting on my kids. They still ain't bringing my stuff in my face. >> Hey, let's let's go over this way. >> Okay. >> So, what's going on today? >> So, I got a call from my 13-year-old. >> Okay. >> So, she was like hysterical on the phone telling me my 15-year-old told her she should die. She don't deserve to be alive. This and that and whatever. So, I'm like, "Okay, calm down." She like, "Oh, the school finna call you." Cool. The school called about a totally different incident. They say my 15-year-old went crying to them, something about my 13-year-old was bullying another child. I I don't really know. So, I'm going off on both of them on the phone because as a parent, I don't I don't like bullies. Don't bully each other. Don't bully other students. I guess they said my 13-year-old was bullying a child about having alopecia. She went to my 15-year-old and then that's when that happened. So, I'm going off on both of them like, "I don't send you to school for this I send you to school to learn. Right. Get your education. The same friends y'all trying to show out in front of is not They're not going to be there to save you when something go wrong." So, my 15-year-old So, my 15-year-old, I'm steady talking and she "I don't care." Makayla, I'm talking. Shut up while I'm talking. I go to talking again, she go to talking over me being disrespectful. You know what I'm saying? So, you must want to finish this conversation in person. Because as disrespectful as you being, I could beat your ass. I don't play disrespect. So, I be here. This fool out going to tell me I can't talk to my children. If I'm telling you to bring me my children, I don't deal with disrespect. If I'm telling you to give me my children, give me my children. So, I can have a conversation with my children, get the bullying under control, go back to work. Oh, you're not getting them. So, you can't tell me I can't have my kids. They're not yours. I've been waiting for the last 15 minutes for my children. Now now I'm all right because I said I want my children. I'm not all right, but if I'm telling you give me my children so I can handle my children, deal with this bullying, and go back to work, that's what I want to do. I don't deal with bullies at all. You're not going to bully each other. You're not going to bully other students. We just don't do that. If a child has alopecia, that is that child's business. You will not bully that child. Exactly. And if I'm speaking to you as a parent, you be respectful. Don't tell me you're not going to listen to me. Don't keep speaking over me, none of this. I came here. I asked the front desk for my student my kids. She went to the office. He brings his ass out. Oh, you ain't getting your children. >> Okay. >> Why you to me I can't have my kids? >> As officers attempted to de-escalate the situation, her behavior became increasingly uncontrolled. She continued making threats despite repeated warnings, disrupting order, and interfering with the school's operations. >> One daughter is bullying another kid and they get called for that originally, but then apparently there's a She gets called from the daughter because the two daughters are fighting. So, she first gets told, "No, don't worry, Mom, the school's going to call you because we're fighting." >> Okay. >> So, then the school calls her and says that one of the daughters is fighting with another student. They're like pulling on a student, not the other daughter. >> And the daughter is sticking up for her. >> Correct. So, she didn't say anything about the other daughter sticking up for her. So, she is here to address the two kids fighting. Then the school calls and says that, "Hey, this your or your other daughter is bullying a separate student. It has nothing to do with the second daughter." And she's like, "That's not what I'm going to do here for. I want to talk to my kids." >> No, you can't talk to your kids. >> Yeah. >> They just want to trespass. >> And she's like, "I became irate. I'm not irate." She was like, "I came here to talk to my kids and they told me that I couldn't talk to my kids." Like, "They're my kids, not your kids." I want to talk to them. And now they're leaving with her. >> Yeah, all I wanted was her trespassed cuz I I said even if she threatened to the [ __ ] out of her kids. >> Nothing physical has happened. >> I mean, if technically she is allowed to strike her children. >> Yeah, and that's what I was trying to say. >> I said I said if she if she physically disciplined her children at all. >> Are they able to get the kids out of here? >> She wants all three of them now. >> So, is the plan to just talk to them and >> Not a lie cuz I never said I was going to hit her. >> Is the plan for you to just talk to them and then go or is it >> No, no, they're all going home. I I don't want them in this school. >> All three of them? >> All three of them. >> Okay. >> Will you go work on getting them all three of them out? >> Are you going to just dismiss them to the mother? >> Sir, can I at least ask this? Can she be removed? Like, get her out of here so >> We'll figure out something again. >> Cool, that that works. I'll bring her kids to her, but I need her gone first. >> Yeah, cuz this is cuz the way she she showed her ass today, bro. Like, it was ridiculous. >> For me, that just says, "Okay, cool. I gave her I got to show my ass today to get my kids." >> I'll bring your kids, cool. I'm going to I'm going to dismiss them from my school anyway, but I need her to sign my kids out. >> She's like walking down the hallway showing the place. >> Isn't that disorderly conduct for her to like scream and >> Here's a video of her walking in. >> and her refusing to bring her kids to the front. >> Okay, she's here to get her kids. You're refusing. All right, so I mean >> Let's be real about it. If I If I did that with my kids, if I walked in my kids school, I'd be arrested out on the spot. >> Plenty of options, but it's the same thing. It's you have interrupted a school function. You surely have disorderly conduct also, but on the flip side, we take her to jail right now. It goes to court in a month or two. No one's ever going to deal with anything with that. All right, so totally fine. Yeah. >> I feel like, oh, I can show them I can do whatever I want. >> We We agree with that. Yeah, there's 10 There's 10 handle 10 ways to handle every scenario, but it's what's what's going to serve most appropriately with her children that we're going to have to find care for instead. So. >> We we just tried to talk to her. She She wasn't Yeah. >> Can't talk to some people, so. >> Yeah. We just tried to talk to her about the situation. >> As a school, we're mandated reporters. If she says she hit one of the kids in the face, we have to report that. >> Cuz if not, you will know that's a felony. If something happens to her, we we know about it. We have to report it. >> Um so >> Are you the one who No. >> They're going to bring the kids. Let's go back out. Where's your car at? >> Where is my children? >> They're I'm going to have them come out. >> I'm not talking to you. >> Let's go over here real quick. >> Where Where is my children? >> They're bringing your children to you. >> Oh, I think it was I think it was one of them. It might have been her. >> I talked to you initially. >> We wrote it down. >> Yeah. >> You wrote it down. >> They're going to bring them. They're going to bring your kids. Let's go over here. >> I'm not talking to you. >> Come on. So they're going to He's going to get your kids right now. We're going to go wait over here. Which one's your car? >> Um over here. >> By the police car over there? >> She shows up here, right? Like out of control. >> Right here. >> Okay, let's just go outside again. >> sit down. I have to sit down and talk to you. I'm not asking questions. >> I can't even explain it. how you're trying to help us till we can leave. She won't even >> He's not letting my other daughter out this door. He's not letting my other daughter out this door. I'm about to spaz. Y'all going to be taking me to jail. Since let me call my mama. Cuz if my child don't come out this door and this He's calling her she can't come out here. I'm going to jail. Let me call my mama. I put that on everything. I mean that the Let me go and talk. Mom, you better Somebody better be here. She's telling me that >> Copy said 10-54 on us having trespass authorization here. Captain Ashley, Ashley, Ashley, Ashley, Ashley. Listen to me. Listen to me. >> Yes. >> Can we just stand here like an adult for 30 more seconds? If we continue to curse, I need one person to be upset and you can be arrested for disorderly conduct. Just one person. I understand your frustration, but your kids are here. Let's act like an adult for a couple of minutes. >> I'm trying it. But who are you to keep >> Help me. Help me help you. I don't want to arrest you in front of your kids. Apparently your daughter didn't want to come with you is what she said. >> Yeah, of course cuz they done put up Sorry, get get me to my child. >> The deputies are bringing her out. >> That's That's the best bet. Cuz if she don't release my child, I'm going to lose my mother my >> Well, they tried to. Apparently she went back inside herself. So. >> Because of them. Can Can you take me to my child, please? >> The deputies are with her. >> But can you take me to her? >> Yeah. They don't want you on the property. So. And you don't want >> I ain't been trespassed. >> And you don't want to talk to them. So. >> Not at all, but I ain't been trespassed. Can you take me to my child, please? I'm I'm trying to be very calm. >> They're walking around right now. >> Oh. I want to see my child. What Where is I'm I'm Y'all Y'all got to want to take me to jail today. >> They're talking to her right now. She said that fear is something like crying and stuff. I don't know what to >> please? >> They're talking to her right now. She's >> Who's talking to her? >> The deputies are cuz she said she's scared to come out right now. So they're >> of these dummies and they tell my child to get out here now. Yeah, Mom. Take Help. Mom. >> The situation, already tense, became even more chaotic when the woman unexpectedly called 911 while officers were already present. >> The sheriff's office? >> Mhm. >> Okay, we're here. >> But y'all not helping me. >> We are. We're attempting to assist you in it. >> Y'all not assisting me if I'm still out here waiting on my child. >> Listen. Hold on, sir. >> You calling 911 when we're here? >> But y'all But y'all not helping. >> We're not working with the school. We're trying to get your daughter who's who's deathly afraid of you. >> Because of what they did. Do you see these Do you see these two? >> Okay, stop. >> Sir, what's your name, sir? >> All they're going to do is take that Listen, all that's That's fine. All they're going to do is take that call and combine it with the call we're already on. >> It's the um I'm I'm sorry. I'm I'm I'm listening to both y'all. I'm just getting very frustrated because there's no need It's I'm sorry. >> No, he just asked for us. That's fine. >> 70-dollar chime. We're forcing alpha. Yeah, I'm on scene. There We already have a call built for this. Thanks. They're going to hang up, too. We're here. There's a call built. That's what we're here to facilitate. She We cannot forcibly remove her from the school. We cannot place hands on her, okay? >> So, let me get my own child. >> You're not allowed in the building. >> So, bring my So, go get my child. >> If you Listen, if you'd like to talk with her, that's fine. >> Go get my child. >> At the end of the day, if she doesn't >> I'm [ __ ] in a minute y'all going to be arresting me. >> Okay. >> Because I'm I'm I'm steady telling y'all to bring me my child. >> We can't forcibly remove her. >> But I can. The only reason why she's >> They don't want you in the on the property. >> So, bring my child out here. >> Okay. She's in tears, panicking. That's why we were attempting to facilitate another another means for her. >> No, no no one else is coming to pick up my child if I'm here to pick up my own child. >> I understand that. >> There's no She's doing this because of them. Bring my child here so I can get my child. >> I cannot forcibly remove her. >> Tell her to come to this gate. >> We have tried talking with her. She is continuing to sit where she's at, all right? >> Zaraya. >> I don't want to go with you. >> What are you doing in my office? >> Get out. >> They made her move. Let's go. Get your mom. >> Now, go. >> Huh? All right, let's go. >> Yeah. >> Yes, I am in the office. >> You guys Issued her a trespass warning. Tell her tell her to sit. >> She can't sit in the lobby. >> 13 years >> I am not 13 anyways. >> Okay, mom. Mom, you can have your daughter come back outside or she's going to go to jail for trespassing. >> I told her that don't be disrespectful. Just don't respond to nobody in there. >> Mom, tell your daughter to come outside or she's going to go to jail for trespassing. >> Do that. Don't tell nobody. Don't All right, I'm done. >> Tell your daughter to go outside or she's going to go to jail for trespassing. >> Huh? What is happening? >> Go ahead. Have her call her back up. I'm talking to you, mom. If your daughter is holding the phone, I'm talking to you right now on speaker, does not come out to you now, she's going to go to jail for trespassing on property. >> I was I was I was My patience is >> I'm done with this. How many times am I going to say this? >> What did she just say to her? Like she goes to jail for this, what? >> Yeah, this >> So, you have to press? >> Yeah, she's going to be worse. >> She's going to be worse? >> It's going to be worse. >> I'm I'm about done with this. Y'all know what all it is, but won't release my child. >> We're not holding her. >> Y'all are holding her. They just locked her in the office. This is absolutely ridiculous. Can you go get my child? >> I just explained it to you. >> I'm getting very irritated. Y'all keep saying y'all don't want her to go to jail, but y'all are not releasing my child. >> You got a seat in the car. It's cold. >> No. So, why y'all keep making my kids go sit down? When I'm asking for my child. Like this this is getting me >> way you're acting, a child doesn't need to see. >> How am I I'm acting like a parent that wants her child. >> And we're not holding her. >> Y'all They just locked her in the office. They're not locking her in the office. >> not just lock her in the office. >> Right now, there are allegations that are coming up that we haven't got to look into and talk with. Okay? >> Now, what allegations have came up? While they was walking out this gate, why would he tell them, "Oh, if your mother hits you, come out the school and tell us tomorrow." This was the whole issue from the beginning because they want to say I'm abusing my [ __ ] kids. >> Okay. >> That was the reason why I spassed on the ignorant asses. >> Okay. >> But do it look like I abuse my children? >> Okay. >> Exactly. >> That's what I'm saying. >> That's what they're saying. All I want is my child. That's it. What I've been saying since I got to this school. I want my children. Now now y'all holding her in the office like like something going to happen to her. >> They're talking with her. >> Talk to her about what? There's nothing for them to talk to her about. Well, what are they talking to her about? >> I'm not in there, am I? >> She's a minor. How they talk to her without her parent? >> I don't know where that misconception started. We don't need a parent to be present. >> Okay. Either way, she's my minor child and I'm telling y'all I want my child. How y'all withholding my child? >> Okay. At this point, they're investigating further, it seems like. >> Investigating what? >> Don't know. I'm not in there. >> If they don't have >> If that's what you believe it is, then that's what you believe it is. >> The situation escalated further as the mother repeatedly called 911 and her persistence ultimately led officers to make the decision to place her under arrest. >> I need an officer I can ask a question. I need a police officer out at this school that can help. >> 1490, I believe she made three 911 calls now. All right. >> If somebody else can get her No. >> Y'all, hang up. >> Wait a minute. >> Hang up. >> No, no, no. Hold on. What? >> Is that how it's going to be? >> Yeah, THIS IS REALLY HOW IT'S GOING TO BE. CUZ I'VE BEEN TRYING TO DO THIS STUPID [ __ ] YOU'RE NOT GOING TO DO ANYTHING. SO, IF YOU GIVE ME MY KID, LET ME LEAVE. NOW, THAT'S THE JOB YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE FOR, NOT FOR ME, FOR HIM. >> WOW. >> SO, UNTIL I GET MY KID, I'M GOING TO BE THIS WAY. >> OKAY. >> BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO RIGHT. HE DID NOT ASK MY PERMISSION FIRST. >> WHAT DO YOU I DON'T know what you're talking about. >> YEAH, I'M TALKING ABOUT MY KID BEING UPSTAIRS THAT I'VE BEEN TRYING TO GET A HOLD OF AND GET MY KID BACK FOR THE LAST 5 MINUTES WHILE I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR Y'ALL. >> OKAY, [snorts] DID YOU CALL >> SINCE THEY CALLED HIM? NO, THEY THEY CALLED YOU. >> OKAY. Why'd they call? >> HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW? ALL I KNOW IS THAT LADY, I DON'T KNOW. PROBABLY BECAUSE OF THE [ __ ] OUTSIDE SAYING THAT I HIT HER KID, BUT THE STORY THAT I DIDN'T IT WAS HIS FAULT. >> OKAY, I I DON'T know anything about that, but I'd be willing to figure OUT >> AND DOWN HERE SO I CAN TAKE HER AND I LEAVE. >> HOW OLD IS YOUR CHILD? >> SHE'S A YEAR OLD AND HE HAS DONE NOTHING BUT BEAT ME THE ENTIRE TIME. >> CAN YOU BRING IT DOWN HERE? >> NO, BECAUSE YOU GUYS WILL NOT BRING ME MY KID TO KNOW THAT SHE'S ACTUALLY IN SAFE HANDS CUZ I DON'T TRUST THEM. >> BUT WHERE'S YOUR KID AT? >> UPSTAIRS. >> WITH THE NEIGHBORS? >> YES. >> I DON'T WANT YOU KNOW WHAT? SHUT THE [ __ ] UP. I DON'T WANT TO BRING you your kid because you are a mess. You are not FIT TO PARENT RIGHT NOW. >> I GOT A FIT PARENT, REALLY? >> YOU ARE NOT FIT TO PARENT RIGHT NOW. LOOK AT YOURSELF. >> LOOK AT YOURSELF. YEAH, BECAUSE HE'S SURE AIN'T. >> ALL RIGHT, DO YOU HAVE ANY at all? Are Have you been injured? NO. >> YEAH. WHY DOES IT MATTER? WHY? [snorts] >> IT APPARENTLY DOESN'T THEN. >> YOU GIVE ME MY KID SO WHY DOES IT MATTER? >> YOU KNOW WHAT? IF YOU CAN'T HAVE A conversation like an adult and act like an adult, then I'm not I'm not going to try and force IT WITH YOU. >> SO I CAN LEAVE. >> AS OFFICERS continued their assessment, they found the child in the care of a neighbor and further information suggested that [music] this was not the first incident. >> Jesus Christ. Yeah, I mean you were right here and she had stepped into the doorway without you realizing it. About as far in as about your back shoulder would be about where your back is on the back. And then that sent her into the wall and I don't know if it was hard enough to send her into the wall or if she had exaggerated it. I don't know. >> Okay. And then what happened? >> And then after that she she she shoved me. I took her to the ground. She continued trying to hit me, telling me to let her go. I said, "When you're calm." >> Okay. And where was your kiddo during all this? >> In her Pack 'n Play. >> Okay. >> In the living room. >> Okay. >> Uh dining room. >> Okay. >> Area. And then I grabbed our daughter and I went to go upstairs. And she shut the door shut behind me, shoving me and our daughter into the door frame and the back of our daughter's head into the door frame. >> Are you injured at all, Chris? >> Not that I'm aware of. >> No. Okay. Uh and daughter's with the neighbors, is that right? >> Yes. >> Okay. I'll go and touch base WITH THEM. HI, EVERYBODY. UH MY NAME'S BEN DOSTAL. UH what kind What's kind of going on? She's obviously irate. I can't get a statement out of her. >> Every weekend, pardon my language, I'm pissed because the simple fact is you don't put a child in the middle of your fight. >> No, I I hear you. Um yeah. Did Do you guys know what happened or what did you hear or see before we got here? >> it seems to me that she's extremely insecure because of past that he's done. And so there's constantly a fight every weekend over who he's talking to, what he's doing on his phone, this, that, and the other. In all honesty, for 2 years now it's been the same thing. >> Okay. >> It's constant. I am so sorry for my mouth. I I'm I'm furious right now, dude. >> Don't bother me none. >> That poor baby has done nothing to anybody. And I listen to the way that they talk to her when she's screaming and throwing a fit. Dude, it's a freaking 1-year-old. Pick it up. Love on it. Give it food. Change its diaper. Like they're simple to take care of. Every time a fight starts, it's every weekend. It's almost every weekend. Sometimes it escalates this bad. Sometimes it's not this bad. This is the first time that I've ever heard getting hurt during the fight. And I absolutely gave her the key. Uh Chris came up, gave Jen the baby. I went downstairs to tell them both they needed knock it off because they're fighting. I have four kids in my own. Three of them right now are gone to the Royal Kids Family Club over there at the church. My littlest one is here and now we have her which I'm cool with. I love this little girl. >> Does she So she has this little girl does? >> She got her head slammed I guess is what Chris said, but I haven't seen anything and she hasn't been flinching when you touch her or anything, but it's literally every freaking weekend they're fighting over something and honestly, man, I'm tired of it. >> Okay. >> Not only is it traumatizing my family, like my dog is terrified and she's a huge dog. Like she's terrified anytime they start fighting. So that tells you me and her don't even raise our voices very often. The most I'll raise my voice is when it's four kids yelling and screaming, "Yo, keep it down." Instantly silent. >> Um was she crying when she when you got >> Uh as far as I know, no. >> Okay. >> She's so used to them yelling and screaming like this. I I don't feel like she even understands like this isn't normal. >> Of course she's a baby, you know. >> Yeah. >> I'm literally shaking right now because I'm so pissed. >> Okay. >> Like he came upstairs and basically barged his way past me. I went down there and they were literally fighting at the door opening and closing, slamming it until I literally just barged my way in there and I was like, "You both need to knock it off. I'm tired of it. I'm tired of dealing with you guys fighting all the time. Now you got a baby in the mix." >> If you could just pull onto her for a second, I'll get back with you, okay? >> As the [snorts] situation became more serious, concerns involving the child led officers to intervene resulting in an arrest. >> Can you take it? I need my kid now. I have my mom on the way so we can go and >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Why am I going to arrest her? What the hell am I getting arrested for? What the hell am I getting arrested for? >> Child >> I didn't do anything. WHAT THE [ __ ] I DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING. >> THIS WAY. >> WHAT THE HELL? I DIDN'T EVEN DO ANYTHING. WHAT THE >> STOP RIGHT HERE AND FACE THE THAT DUTY. my god. >> What the >> Do you have anything on you officers need to know about? >> anything on me. I just picked her up so I can go and get my kids >> Have a seat inside. Watch your head. Yep. Yep. Yep. We I don't know about domestic assault or anything but we for sure have child >> Okay. >> So, I'm going with that for sure. >> Okay. What do you want me to do? >> I think that should be all I need. Chris, from what I've gathered just so you're on the same page, it sounds like you were in an argument. She or you were getting the child to remove the child from the apartment. She slammed the door and the kid's head got caught in the door. >> And slammed the door shut. And in doing so, her chest made contact with my back. >> Okay. >> Which pushed me forward. Made contact the the door frame hard enough for her she start it took her a couple seconds and she looked at me like gave me that look like what just happened and then she started to realize that >> That's the reason >> cry for more than a couple of minutes. >> That's the reason I'm taking her to jail. Um is because that's child What is Can you spell Katain's name for me, please? >> C H E H A I N >> Um I will have to forward this report to DHHS. Um are you involved with a case worker at all or anything? >> The only case worker I'm involved with is right now is the case worker regarding my other daughter. >> Okay. >> That is in state custody. >> Okay. Just just so you >> Because of her mother, not because of me. >> Okay. Just for the sake of full transparency, I just I have to forward this to them. Nothing I haven't just discussed with you will be disclosed. And so we'll do it that way. Okay. Do you have any questions for me? >> No. >> Okay. I'm going to touch base with the neighbors. And we'll get her down there, okay? Alicia's going to jail. Christopher, for the rest of the day or whenever. Do you folks have any questions for me? >> Is she okay? >> Yeah, I think she's >> okay? >> Bro, I'm not trying to be an [ __ ] but we got the problem dealt with at least for today, but just wanted you guys to be aware of that, okay? So >> and when she comes back, though, it's going to be an issue again. >> She won't be back till Monday. So, hopefully some things can get kind of sorted out until then. >> The woman was charged with child abuse and could face a prison sentence [music] ranging from 2 to 10 years, along with the possibility of permanently losing custody of the child. A healthy home is not one without disagreements, [music] but one where adults know when to stop before a child is Innocent eyes filled with fear when facing danger often have no choice but to stay silent and endure. >> No, I did not try to do that. I did not try to do that, please, sir. >> On January 17th, 2025, [music] officers attempted to stop a woman for speeding and failing to maintain her lane. Instead of cooperating, she denied any wrongdoing [music] and responded with a confrontational attitude. That behavior not only disregarded the law, but also created a troubling situation in front of her child in the backseat. >> 6158 in the bottle. >> Can you show me 10-15 with a white male? Uh show me also 10-12 uh 51 to CJ. >> All right, officer will be with the OPD. Reason for the stop? Like you're >> What did I do? >> So, you were coming up behind me at extremely fast rate of speed. >> Okay, what rate of speed was I going? >> 7 >> I'm not sure, but then when I get behind you, you're having a hard time maintaining a lane. >> No, I did maintain my lane. >> No, you were crossing the solid white lines. >> You were also speeding. I estimated you at about 60 and 45 on 20th Street. I don't have to clock you. >> My mom My mom literally just paid off all my tickets. I literally just >> Okay. Do you have your license? >> Yes, I do. >> Current registration and insurance? >> Registration, yes, I do. >> Where you coming from today? >> Honestly, Mommy, I'm going to drop my daughter off with my mom cuz I got to do my community service hours in the morning. >> Okay, you want to take that your driver's license out of that form >> I'm already on probation. Ma'am, do me a favor, just shut your door for me. >> But my daughter, she's scared. >> Amid legal concerns and her increasingly agitated behavior, officers still gave her an opportunity to comply. >> Well, they should Well, they should give me a case number. I shouldn't get no case number. >> Ms. Peterson. >> My daughter's scared, bro. >> Ms. Peterson, where Where you You mentioned your mom. I didn't know that you guys were going to take my license. >> Okay, so when we tell you you are to not drive. >> You know, I told you guys you were trying to be and just take my license, you know. >> Not No, not the case. >> Because how how how am I going to how am I going to get obtain my car if I don't have a license? That doesn't make any >> Hang on. >> Wait, no no, please. Please. >> The woman was charged with driving on a suspended [music] license, resisting an officer without violence, and reckless driving. In Florida, she could face a prison [music] sentence ranging from 1 to 5 years, along with fines of up to $2,500. Children should never be placed in the position of witnessing or being [music] affected by adult actions. Every decision made by a parent becomes a lesson a child carries forward. Do you want to go with mom?" And he's like, "No." And I'm like, "You can't ask a 5-year-old what he wants." >> On March 9th, 2024, police were called to a parking lot after reports that a father had brought his 5-year-old son into a busy roadway during a dispute with his ex-wife. They arrived quickly and worked with the mother, who seemed intent on explaining and [music] defending her perspective. >> Y'all okay? I'm just mad mad I'm just >> The white four runner? >> Yes, he can. >> What's going on? Sorry, I'm out of breath. >> What's up? >> So, we were supposed to be going to leave today. We got into this big argument. He got mad about him putting his hands on me, so I put his hands on my face. I told him to stop. >> Yep. >> I was just a little winded. >> Do me a favor, leave leave the house. Who's he? Where is he? >> He just left in that car. >> Got the red one? >> No, it was a silver gray one. Now, he's sitting right there. That's why he took off. He's sitting there. >> know the tag on it? >> I don't. I can tell you where it's going. >> Where is it going? >> To Ocean Reef. Ocean Reef. He had just told me my stuff wasn't there. Now, I'm worried about my car. >> Let's start over. >> All right. You're good. Take your He was yelling at me and my daughter. Okay, so we got into an argument up here. >> Okay. >> We were supposed to be going to leave today. We got into an argument over money. And you were in that argument, and he he had about had it with him putting his hands on me, so I thought I'd avoid the situation. So, I walked off. Get out of my truck right now, or I'm calling the cops. You get out. Well, then I walked away, and I kind of just pretended like I was doing this. I pretended like I was calling the cops, kind of like de-escalate the situation. So, he gets out of the truck, the car, and he walks. >> Possible 67, physical. >> I would say not physical. >> Okay. Wait, I mean >> Wait, wait, wait, did he Did he Did he Did he touch you? >> Yeah. >> Who is he to you? >> He's my ex-boyfriend. >> Okay, that's a domestic domestic situation, okay? >> But, I don't want to press charges. Is it still okay? >> Regardless of whether you want to press charges, it doesn't matter. Florida picks up the charges. >> I can't get out. >> Try to get out. Get out. >> I understand that. I understand that. What's his first name? >> I was recording. So, he's sitting with his daughter on the sidewalk, and I come around here because there was no way to get down. And when I got over here, he was crossing the highway with him. And so, I was He was doing a U-turn right there. HE GOT IT BACK IN THE CAR, SO I GOT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY, AND I TRIED TO drive again. I'm like, "You got to stop walking across the highway with him. He's not You can't do this. The highway's too busy for you to just be walking across with a five-year-old. It's too busy for you to just be walking across with a five-year-old." And he's constantly asking, "You want to go with Mom? You want to go with Mom?" And he's like, "No." And I'm like, "You can't ask a 5-year-old what he wants. That's not the way it works. You don't have a vehicle, and you're not getting back in mine." >> Is that his kid? >> Yeah, we have a hostile custody. So, we're completely divorced. He only gets every other weekend. I have hostile custody. The only thing we share joint is the medical. At the end of the day, I have final say. So, with an escalator like that, I said, "Just put HIM IN THE TRUNK." YOU KNOW what I'm saying? "Let us go, and then we'll go." And then he kept walking off. But that's what scared me is he kept like going places. I'm like, "You're not taking him where I don't know what he's at. Like, you're not doing that. I don't care. We'll sit right here." And so, finally we got over here, and I guess cuz there's so many people right here, I reached over and I just grabbed him. I just picked him up. He's like, "I'm getting in the truck." I said, "You get IN MY TRUCK, AND you will get arrested." Like, "You don't get in my truck. Me and the kids are leaving. You are going to leave." Cuz that was his son that picked him up. And I was like, "You're not taking him." So, that's what happened. I grabbed my son's arm. He like squeezed my hand, pulled my fingers back. And then I >> My God. >> We are so I just let him go cuz I knew I didn't him in the process of trying to get him to Give me one second, okay? Do you have an ID on you? Thank you. >> So, was James pulling your son into oncoming traffic? Like, were there cars coming? >> I don't know. I don't think he even crossed. I don't know because I couldn't come down this way. He said there's a Walmart up here. So, I got around and came around at this red light. When I was looking, he was crossing over the highway. Okay. And then I was like, "No." And so, I I don't Cuz at first he said he was going to Goodwill. So, I thought we were headed to Goodwill. So, I just did a U-turn to go to Goodwill. And he like backtracked across the highway back to this side of the highway. And I'm like, I told her I got to the middle and I stopped and I said, "You cannot walk with him across this." And I won't It's not going to do that. So, I told her to just record just in case he put his hands on me while I was trying to get him to stop. And while I was doing it, he just took off again across the highway. >> At what point did he put his hands on you? >> When we got like right over here, he like And it was just bending my fingers trying to get me off of my son. And that was when I was telling him he couldn't walk across the highway with him. >> So how did he get them in the first place? >> Because they were at the parking lot up there about the time and we were all in the same video. But when he put his hands on my face, I got out of the truck because I didn't want him to put his hands on me. So I was like, "I'm calling the police. You need to get out of my truck." When I walked away, he took her and him and got and took pulled them out of the truck and said, "We're walking." And I said, "No, you're not. Leave them here." And he kept saying >> I know you're upset, but there's other people, okay? >> And he said, "We're walking down the street. We're going to Wal-Mart." And I said, "No, you're not." And he said, "You made all of us walk." I said, "No, I told you to get out of my truck, and my kids need to stay in this truck." >> So how did he get the charger? Was it someone else with them? >> He called somebody. They literally just pulled up. And I guess because they saw you, he finally let go of him and got in the truck. I mean, in the car like that. >> Do you have any paperwork or anything saying you have full custody saying you have full custody? Can I see that? >> Although her statements appeared reasonable, police noticed inconsistencies and consulted colleagues to ensure the response followed proper procedures. >> So is it DV or they called? >> I don't know. So your criminal suspect was bending back fingers. So the other man >> No, male was bending female fingers. >> Wait, so who's your suspect? >> The male. >> Okay, I'm on my way. I'm just saying it sounds like she's the aggressor in all this. >> It was mutual to start. And then both of them escalated, but she has she showed me an order saying the parties have joint legal custody, but the plaintiff who is the female has primary physical custody. So I'm guessing that means she She said this is just a temporary order. I don't It doesn't say when it actually >> That's all fine. Either way, it's going to be domestic because they have kids in common. They're saying who has the custody. You're going to be all right. They were married, they got divorced, they have kids in common. You're good there. >> I just get so did any of the kids or were they in Was there any chance of them getting >> Possibly the 4-year-old. >> If any of those kids are old enough to tell you what happened, just quickly ask them, "Hey, what happened?" And see what the kids say and corroborate anything. When you do that >> When I was talking with mom, the two older kids got out were disagreeing with everything mom said. So, I very highly doubt they're going to tell me anything different. >> Okay. How old are they? >> One looks like she's like eight or nine maybe, the other one's in her teens. I don't know exactly who escalated it because with the video she showed me, he was walking towards them trying to get her son back. All, you know, yelling to office that and the other. He's yelling back at her with a hold of the son. She grabbed the son, she grabbed her fingers. But I can't arrest both of them. There's three kids here right now. >> It sounds like both of them are going to do a service. Sounds like they both started escalating it. But as far as actually physically putting her hands on one of the other adults, it sounds like he did that first. Yeah. >> As far as from what she's telling me, yes. And she has a video of it. I've seen. I am going to ask her if she at any point in time put hands on him prior to him grabbing her. As of right now, it's just going to be simple DV on him. >> Are they from here? >> Georgia. >> All right, then we definitely don't want to arrest both of them. >> Can you have Sue or Mirandize him? Ask him what what happened? >> Yeah, he's already kind of like kind of talked to us, but he's saying he's like, "I ain't done nothing." He's like, "I'll just leave." Yeah, we'll Mirandize him and ask him some further questions. >> The situation grew more complex as initial videos [music] and evidence seemed to support the mother's account. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in court. With those rights in mind, do you still wish to talk to me? >> Okay. >> Okay, so it all happened there. Y'all got in a big argument. He grabs >> her >> and the little one. Starts walking. They're like, "Hey, we're going to walk to Waffle House." You're following it, I'm guessing down the road or down this little side trail thingy? >> I and so I realized it was no light, so I took them down the side. Cuz she got come back and gotten her purse. I said, "Let's go. Y'all get back in the truck. You're not walking down the street." But of course, he had my five-year-old and he talked to him and talked to him and then my five-year-old wants to go. So, he said, "As far as he said, I'm going to go with the kid." So, I'm waiting for them right there and I'm like, "No, you're not." I was kicking people out there. And then he said, I said, "You're not crossing the highway with him." He said, "Fine, we're going to walk to Wal-Mart." So, I turned down this road and I go this back way and I come up right here and I'm going to pull into the Wal-Mart and he's on the other side of the highway. But, so then I go up there and I turn make a U-turn to go turn in to Goodwill. He walked back over the highway. So, I pull in the middle of the highway and catch him right there and I'm like, "Put him in my car. Stop walking with him and crossing highways. It's not safe. You do whatever you want to do, but he's coming with me." We start arguing and he grabs on to me. Of course, I told her he's right at the phone. I said, "Grab the phone and disconnect just in case he cuts his hands off." By the time I turn around, he acts like he's going to get back in my vehicle. I said, "You're not getting in my vehicle. Put my son in my vehicle." And that's what he kept saying, "We're going to get in the vehicle. We're going to get in the vehicle." I'm like, "You're not getting in the vehicle. We're not going to make this an unsafe situation." He walks around the truck, darts back over to the other side of the thing and starts walking down here. He said, "I'm not going to Wal-Mart. I'm going to Wal-Mart." So, I follow him down this median right here and I'm going slow. I have a little black road or the actual No, the actual turning lane, right? Okay, cuz it goes from all the way up here down here. So, I turn my emergency lights on and I get into the turning lane and I'm going as slow as I can. I will follow y'all all the way down there. You're not going to keep turning around with him and end up somewhere and I don't know where he's at. All right, well, this is the middle of the Yeah. So, then he turns around again. So, I just come I just turn in and I said, I do it nice there as I got there. I said, "Stop. Give him to me. We're not going to keep doing this. If you're you're going to go to Wal-Mart, we'll go to Wal-Mart." So, I'll wait outside while y'all go inside and meet me and cool off. But, you're not just going to take him. So, then we start walking down here and I'm right here on this median and I open my car door and he Up there is where he grabbed my things. And I just got back in my truck. I said, "We're not We're not doing this." I think he's like, "You're going to hit him." And I realized that if I didn't let go, I was going to be the one And then I didn't want to do that. So, we got back in the car and I drove down here a little bit and he's standing right there and his thumbs were up. And I said, "You're not taking You're not going to take him off and I don't know where you're at. You're not doing this. I'm going to argue." And so, he kind of like lets loose of him and I walk around him and I just pick up my stuff. And he starts acting like I'm getting back in the truck. I said, "You are not getting in my truck." And so then I get in the truck and he jumps on you. And he got his son in the truck and left. I mean then he got his son's car and left. And then we got in ours and then he got behind me and I just went to my parents. >> Any point in time when you were trying to get your son, did you put hands on him? >> touch me. No, he did not touch me. I don't grab him because I know and I've been doing this longer than you because we're divorced because of domestic violence. >> Okay, yeah, that's basically all I needed to know. >> I I yeah, that he I I don't touch him. >> Did you see any of it or did you see all of it? Is basically what mom said right? >> Yes. >> Okay, did the mom ever touch him at any point in time? You didn't see it. Did you see him touch her? >> No, I didn't see him hitting her and being aggressive and he was trying to grab my baby. That was it. >> Okay, can you bring up that video one more time? You saw him touch her? >> However, after reviewing all footage, police [music] saw that both parents had moments of poor control while handling the child, requiring a closer look at the incident. >> He's like, "Whatever, I'm leaving." That's when he left off the sidewalk. The 5-year-old just wanted to go with him. He was a pain and he's like, "Well, I want to go with my dad." He's like, "I'm going to take you to the He wanted to go to Waffle House." So they're walking on the sidewalk. Mom has a 10-year-old in the car with her and is driving in oncoming traffic, talking and yelling at him down 98 to the Waffle House. And he's like, "What are you doing?" He's just like, "Get in the median. Get in the median. You have a kid in the car with you. You're getting hit, you know." I guess they walk over there to the median or or she drives us to the Waffle House park at Waffle or something like that. And she's grabbing the 5-year-old's arm, yanking and pulling on him, squeezing his arm. And he's like screaming and crying saying, "Mom, please stop." She's like, "You can't take my kid away." He's like, "I'm not." He said he wanted to go to Waffle House to eat. >> Did he say he touched her at all or was she just trying to get her off of the kid? >> He never touched her. >> I kind of beg to differ on that one. I have video of him grabbing her arm and bending her finger backwards. This is getting more complicated by the second. >> I want my son. >> The kid doesn't say anything in the video. He looks uncomfortable as hell. He's about to start crying, but that's a 5-year-old mom and dad are arguing. When an adult think I have DD anymore. Both of them were going back and forth between the kid trying to yank the kid back and forth. He's just trying to protect his kid trying to get her off of him. That's not DD. >> I don't necessarily disagree. We agree that both parties say they were pulling on the kid. >> Yeah. >> From the way that the call reads and from the way that you described it, I'm almost tempted to say that it sounds like he was trying to protect the kid and leave, right? >> Yeah, to come to Waffle House where they all agreed on going. >> And she definitely escalated this, yeah? >> Yeah. >> I'm almost tempted to say we got our [ __ ] with dispatch and our kids are with dad. >> But at the same time her defense is going to be because she told me multiple times he was basically half 4-year-old and was walking back and forth across Back Beach in the middle of Back Beach. >> I will shoot off the McDonald's argument because put her charges with town. Drove Erica to see with the kids on Back Beach. >> Yeah, that would mean technically both of them had to go, too, because he was in the center turn lane in the middle of Back Beach with the 4-year-old just walking back and forth. >> The children, direct witnesses, also shared their perspectives, helping clarify several important details. >> First thing, is it okay if I don't talk to them? >> That's why >> So, basically >> You really don't know what she saw or what he >> When she was driving and following him, was she driving into oncoming traffic? >> No. >> Were you lost? Were they actually driving? >> No. >> No. >> I feel like only after the thing that two of them were back >> holding him and mom was trying to grab him. >> Yeah. >> Mom was trying to grab him. >> She don't want any of that. >> No, he was trying >> to keep him. kicked him in the stomach and I told her my mom had to write me a gift. When they were when they had and walking in across the road. Were they just in the the left burning or were they in the middle of the road? When they were walking across like were they getting close or was it kind of clear to them? Maybe like right here. How far right? So they had enough time to at least get in the median. When mommy and daddy were fighting, I know daddy got a hold of your arm, didn't he? When mommy was was grabbing your arm and everything and she was trying to get you away from him, did he? Where did she grab you? Like did she grab you here or here? Where on your arm? Your wrist? Can I see? Can I grab a picture? Did you want to go with mommy? You really trying to go with daddy? Your daddy? >> After a thorough review, authorities determined that the mother needed guidance [music] and oversight to ensure the children's well-being while the children were temporarily placed with the father to maintain stability. >> He's got like little red spots on his pinky and a scratch mark on him on the back of his hand. I guess from where she was trying to grab him. Probably we're going to take her for Did he say why he just why he left? Was he just trying to separate himself from it or >> Yeah, he said that he was trying to separate or >> argue about the money order. Yeah, I don't think I have for the other two kids cuz I talked to a 13-year-old and stuff. They said that she never drove in the wrong lane, never drove with oncoming cars coming. So he wanted to go with dad and then mom started causing a fuss, started grabbing him. I don't care if you have sole custody of him, you still can't do that. >> Yep. Okay. So with that I'm going to Did you send me a picture? Yeah, I did. Yeah, this is on the side that she was grabbing him. They're going to CPC the kid and if the kid says yes, she hurt me, she's and that's going to sit way more in advance. Actions were to protect the kid, that proves everything you told me, right it just like that. >> Yeah, and and that's honestly what it kind of looked like in the video. It looked like mom kept charging on dad and dad was trying to keep the kid away from mom. I have no charges on the like for DV or anything. It's just the child So, I'm going to have her and Scooter come this way before I 10-15 mom. I'll have dad follow them cuz I don't want to put her in cuffs until I know the kids aren't going to run out on me. And I don't want the kids to see and I don't want her to run. >> Hello. >> So, dad is good to go. If you want, can y'all have dad either come park in the Winn-Dixie parking lot or the Dunkin parking lot. Mom's going on child but I don't want to put her in cuffs until someone is here for the kids. The oldest isn't his. It's just she's just mom. So, it's basically tell mom she's either okay with her going with him or she's going to DCF. >> Unless you know somebody else local that can come get them. >> Cool. That's it. >> That's basically it. >> All right. So, what we're going to do, we're going to walk to the very back of my car real quick. I have paperwork I have to give you. Okay. All right, Christine. What we're going to do, okay? You are going to be placed under arrest for child and I'm going to explain why, okay? I'm going to explain why. Give me a minute and I'll let you finish it. And if you're cool with me, basically regardless of whether you have custody of your kid, it is not okay to be dragging your kid in the middle of the road. >> He has swung his arms >> on the left side of the car on the left side. the left side. And that's exactly what you told me. You told me holding me. Like you came up to him and were grabbing him. Regardless of whether you have the custody or not, that is not okay to be grabbing. >> Oh my god. >> So, I want to do this back here away from the kids, right? >> I have my purse. >> I will I will grab your purse, all right? I'll let you finish it. He will Yep. So, we're >> Do you want to go This other kid is going to go with him. They're going to be upset. He's going to take them. >> Okay. I will ask him in just a minute and >> He knows that I'm getting arrested. That's why he just apologized to me and told me he was sorry and everything. >> Yeah. >> You good cool with me? We'll let you finish your statement. I'm going to put you in on the passenger side. I will open the door first before I cuff you so the kids don't see. I don't want them to see anything. I don't believe you are. Okay? We'll grab your purse and stuff in a minute. We'll explain everything to dad. All three kids are going with dad. Okay? Do you have anything else to tell me before we put you in the car? Do you have anything I need to know about? More than likely you're not going to get first parents till the morning. Okay? I think we can It's not my decision. It depends on what time you get booked in. We have at least a 30-minute ride up there. Can I talk to him? I'm sorry. I'm I have anxiety and I don't really like him. Your plea I will ask him if he wants to come talk to you. We'll have him explain everything to the kids cuz they probably they know him better than they know me. Okay? Whatever you want to explain to the kids, explain to the kids. However you all want to do it. Okay? I'll give you the address to the jail. Okay? I'll give you where it's at. Okay? >> The mother faced charges of deporting a child.
