Why are we out here? What happened? >> I silly string somebody and it was immature. I know I shouldn't have done it. It was just a a prank. >> Now listen, if somebody drives by you and flips you off, most people just kind of roll their eyes and move on with their day. But Crystal? Oh no, she decided that the appropriate mature response was to hunt them down later at bike night with a can of silly string. And before you think, "Oh come on, it's just silly string." Just wait. >> It's not often that a can of silly string is at the center of a criminal investigation, but when a call came in that Crystal had struck a man in the head outside the OCC Roadhouse in Florida, police had to figure out what really happened. >> You guys got your IDs on you? >> Huh? >> Need your IDs. >> My ID? >> Both of your IDs. I'll go up here and talk. >> What did I do? >> We'll explain to you. >> Yeah, yeah. >> Can we go all the way up front and talk? >> Yeah. >> Does that work? >> Yeah. >> Just trying to get away from everything. >> Yeah, yeah. Just want to >> What's all this? >> Silly string occurred. >> For >> You're aware of it, but we'll get to it. >> can right there. >> Okay, let me talk to you in a minute, man. Do you need the fire department? >> Huh? >> Do you need Okay. Um I'm going to talk to you in a minute, okay? >> Yeah. >> Can you just hang out with victim with the split forehead there? Hey bud, can you come over here and talk with me? Okay. >> Who is she? Who is she to you? >> She's just She's just somebody that lived with me in my old house and then got me kicked out of my house. Started the landlord. They smoke together. Like it's just a whole bunch of problems. I already have a case going on with her. She should not even be She just walked up to me, sprayed my girlfriend and said got her face, sprayed me and then threw the can directly behind me. I wasn't I was just I was looking at my phone, you know? Okay. I was just looking at my phone. She just caught me off off guard. Like bro uh I have a case going on like she just walked up to And then he wanted to follow me, try to act like he's going to fight me, bro. >> Who Who is he? >> My boyfriend. >> OKAY. >> OH BOY, OH BOY, OH BOY. So I knew that all of this was going to be, you know, assault with a can of silly string, but I thought that she was just like going to spray, just spray the silly string, and then oh no, I was I was a victim of battery. She hit me with something. Cuz it doesn't matter like what you throw at somebody. If if you intentionally like spray or do something like we saw that that one like neighborhood nosy Karen spray water at those kids. It she she hit the little girl with water. That was battery. So, silly string can also be battery. But it goes a step worse because she didn't just spray him with silly string or spray the girlfriend with silly string. She then took the can, freaking chucked it at this dude's head, and split his freaking forehead open. HE'S DRIPPING WITH BLOOD. OH MAN, she just she seems like she's aggressively angry towards him. My god, and I'm sorry. I'm just I'm just going to put this out there. These do not seem like people that I would want to mess with. I mean, come on. You guys used to smoke meth together. >> [laughter] >> At first glance, the incident appeared unusually simple. Officers knew the investigation couldn't move forward on assumptions alone. Their next step was speaking with the suspect. >> I think you were at his house the last time, right? >> I have no clue. He doesn't look familiar to me. >> doesn't. >> Okay. Sir, you hang out with him there. Ma'am, can I speak with you over here? Uh is Crystal? Is that how I say your first name? >> Yes. >> Okay, what's going on today? Why would we be out here? >> So, I was hired to clean and make repairs to and and paint the house that he was evicted out of. >> He as in the gentleman you're with or the gentleman over there? >> Jesse. The >> This gentleman right here? >> Uh >> No, this is Michael. Jesse is the one over there? >> didn't call I guess called the cops. >> Okay. >> Cuz I silly stringed him. >> Okay, so what happened? >> When him and his girlfriend in the Ford pickup truck >> Okay. >> drove by the house while I was out on the porch smoking a cigarette taking a break. They were flipping me off. You, we're going to get you. You. >> Okay. >> And so I'm like, what did I do to them? >> Okay. >> You know, so I I'm I'm like, what the hell, you know? And so when I saw them in the bar, I was like, you know what? I was like, I don't know why >> Here, this bar? >> Yeah, I I was like, you know, if you got me, then at least have the balls and say it to my face. You know, especially when I I didn't do anything that warranted you say you know, saying that and then threat you know, you guys threatening me. >> Okay. >> You know? So, I had a can of silly string and I and I did silly string and it didn't even spray right. >> Where was that at? >> Like over there. >> Back there? >> Yeah, yeah. >> So, you went out there and silly stringed them? >> Yeah, well, yeah, I was probably like from from here to the vehicle. >> Okay. >> Away from them. And it wasn't spraying correctly. It was getting you know, all like misty all in my eyes, whatever. It was slippery. And I and I meant to like just do like a like a mic drop, drop, you know? Like a mic drop and that's it. >> Okay. >> I was just going to silly string and that's all I know. The can fell and >> So, she was planning to stroll up there and take a can of silly string and she was going to get him back and be like mic drop. But instead, uh it flew everywhere, got into her eyes, and then she chucked it at his head, and uh split his skin open. Got it. Okay. Um why? >> [laughter] >> Why? Okay, I understand. These people, according to her, these people were pissed because she was hired to fix up the house that they were evicted out of. And, you know, I know people, when they get evicted, they get real real mad, right? They get real angry, they get really aggressive towards the property sometimes. They mess it up. They were probably very very angry, and then when they see someone fixing up the house, they want to take it out on the one person that they see cuz they no longer live there. you're going to attack him with a can of silly string? I mean, this this whole thing just sounds really weird. I feel like there's something missing here. I feel like there's something missing. I feel like there's something she's not telling us. >> What's up? >> That's it. The can. The can of silly string. >> Okay, how did he >> Sprayed it, and then and then he ran away. >> cracked open? >> I don't know. >> You have no knowledge of why his forehead would be open. >> I mean, I >> So, one second you're silly stringing him, and the next you have no idea >> And then I dropped the can, and then he ran away. >> And that's the only thing that happened with you. >> Uh yeah, that's the only thing that happened with me. But, you know, when I saw him from from afar, he wasn't bleeding at that time. >> It was somebody that you don't have a good relationship with, it sounds like. Right? Like, you guys have beef >> Yeah. >> We know we have beef with each other. Like, silly string and all this stuff. >> than you know, flipping me off and and you know, yelling obscenities and threats to me. I think shooting silly string at him is a little more appropriate than that, especially when that kind of behavior is unwarranted. >> No, I got the problem both I didn't get the the problem both unwarranted. >> just a prank. >> Okay, so but how did he end up with So, from there, we ended up with us here, and you have no idea how he could be split open on the forehead. >> Like [music] I said, after like immediately after it happens, when I walked back to my bike, I looked over at him and he was not bleeding at that time. So, I was unaware of whatever injuries happened to him. >> That's it. >> I'm going to handle it. >> No, don't don't Hey, listen. Don't get yourself in trouble. Now we're here. If you do something, you're going to get yourself in trouble, right? Let us handle it. >> it. Run up on him, bro. We're sitting here at my bike and just they just ran up on us. >> I hear you. All right. No, that's why we're dealing with it now. >> Man, I really hope someone's got something on video. All these people standing around and nobody has come forward with a video yet. She's claiming that she doesn't know how his head got split open, that she just mic dropped that can. But she is not saying whether or not she mic dropped it by flinging it towards his face. I am kind of believing him right now. I don't see any reason why he would lie about the fact that she threw the can at his face and split his his eyebrow open. Obviously, she has reason to lie because she doesn't want to get into trouble. She's just claiming, "Oh, it's just a prank. It's just a prank. I didn't actually assault somebody." But no, I think she did cuz he's he's pretty heated. I don't see any reason why he would lie about her throwing the can at his face after she admitted to spraying the silly string. I just hope someone has a video cuz I kind of want to see it. >> There's some crazy Bro, she needs any I already have a case against her right now. That she's already getting charged charged with assault on her for it. Don't say anything. Just talk to him. >> The investigation had moved beyond the initial allegation. Officers now needed to compare the suspect's account with the evidence. >> I would hope you're being truthful. >> I didn't throw it at him. >> I would hope you're being truthful. >> was like It was like a mic drop. >> But there's a difference between a mic drop that's dropped directly to the ground and a split open forehead. >> As Okay, well, >> Even if you drop the can on your head If I drop the can your head it's not going to hurt. >> I didn't throw it at him if that's what you're if that's what you're getting at. I like dropped it. And like I said it was everywhere and it I didn't hit him. >> Did the can hit him? >> I don't know if the can hit him. >> So somehow he just allegedly has a cut on his forehead that he's alleging was from a thrown can, right? And now you're saying you dropped the can. You see how these things >> I didn't know. I I told you I didn't drop the can. >> Drop the can. You said you might drop the can. >> And yes and because the stuff was all over the can [music] it was slippery and it kind of you know maybe went in his direction but I >> Oh, it's starting to come out. Oh, it was slippery. It was slippery. The the can just like slipped out of my hand and and it might have fallen in his direction. >> [laughter] >> Was he conveniently placed on the ground aggressively, let it slip so that it you know clocked him right in the freaking eyebrow skin? Like >> [laughter] >> Oh, now the story's changing a little bit. Oh, yeah I I might have I might have dropped it a little aggressively right above where his eye was. >> [laughter] >> God, please let somebody have a video. >> I didn't I wasn't aiming for him. I was like doing a light job. You know the stuff like I said it wasn't it wasn't shooting out properly. It was shooting out like it was in my eyes. It was all over the can. All over I see there's still pieces of it on me. >> You just stole pieces of it off him. The can was over there. Did anybody else see this that you know of? When you were silly stringing? >> I don't know anybody personally. I mean I don't know anybody I face is so familiar. I don't know anybody >> Okay. >> by name really. >> Just hang out there for me. >> Some details now aligned while others did not. The next step was determining whether the available evidence supported either account. >> What's that? >> Is that going to affect anything if I don't go to the hospital? Cuz I want something to be done about this. This is the second time he's been doing this. >> That's a completely separate. Like that has nothing to do with the investigation whether you go to the hospital or not. >> You guys are going to take pictures, right? >> Yeah. He He went to go grab his or his stuff to take photos. >> That's a pretty bad gash. >> I know. It's It's an empty I have it in my car. It's like an empty uh like a silly string [music] can. It's It's like this big. But that's what somebody pointed out and said that's what he got hit with. >> Like this or like thrown? >> I don't know. I >> To me it sounds like the logical thing would be to look at the can of silly string and is there any blood on the silly string? Has anybody done that yet? I mean, doesn't take a genius detective to go look for any sign of blood on the can of silly string. He said he's got it in the back of his truck. Why haven't they looked at it yet? Or did they look at it and they don't see any blood so they're trying to determine why that guy is bleeding. I mean, I just just look at the can. Is there blood on the can or not? >> Not sure. >> Why don't you bring it up? Let's want to see it. >> All right. Were you here with any of the any of the >> happened? Yeah. Yeah. >> What happened? >> He's talking She pulled out her gun, spit at her, and she spat silly string at him. Me and her went to go walking away and then he tried or she was up there and I went to go walking towards her. And he's trying to talk And then he tried to reach like he was going to grab his knife cuz he was acting all nice. I don't know if watch tonight, dude. >> Yeah. >> He would pull it out or beat your >> Do you know how he got his head busted open? >> No, I don't know that. >> No? Just because you had >> [laughter] >> I thought he was about to rat her out. I thought he was going to be like, "Yeah, he was trying to pull the knife out and so she chucked the can at his head." >> [laughter] >> But no, he knows everything that happened except how his eyebrow got cut open. >> [laughter] >> He knows everything but that. Oh, that's convenient. >> The uh the conversation with him. I just got to make sure I got I got to get her story now just to see if I put it all together of what's going on. Cuz we got a guy with a busted head and so we're just trying to figure out what's up, okay? So just give us a little bit just let it kind of, you know, we're not trying to ruin your night but we're not I appreciate it, yeah. Listen, I don't mean to be I appreciate you being cooperative, man. Why are we out here? What happened? >> I silly stringed somebody. Was it mature? No. But I think it was a little more appropriate than the obscenities and threats that they that they were yelling at me as they're driving past the house that I was working at. >> So, I'm not saying you're a liar or anything like that but I've got to ask you like what's going on? Like why are we even out here? Okay. Um I just got to ask you Here's so I've got to ask you a couple follow-up questions for you, all right? But before I do, I'm going to read you your rights, okay? Just for that part of it. >> [music] >> You have the right to remain silent. All right, so having these rights in mind, would you like to speak to me? >> I mean I I mean I'm willing to cooperate. >> Okay, I just need a yes or a no. >> Yes. >> Okay. Did you hit him with the can? Did you throw it at him? >> No. >> Okay. >> throw it in his That was not my intention. >> But you threw it? >> I I did throw it. I like kind of >> You tossed it? >> I tossed it like a yeah, like a light toss, you know? >> Okay. >> And like you know, I silly stringed him and then that was that. >> Why did you throw it? And you silly stringed him because they drove by you and made some statements? >> Well, and you know, me and it was just it was disrespectful and and and it was unwarranted and and it was and and I you know, I I haven't done anything to him to deserve threats and obscenities and people flipping me off as they drive by. And so it's like at least have to be repeated say it's my thing. >> But you understand that like they have freedom in the streets so they can flip whoever they want. They can flip us off. They can say whatever they want. It doesn't mean you should go out of your way and Well, I mean you can't be doing that. >> Okay. >> All right. >> All right. Well, I didn't I didn't know I thought it was against >> No, because like No, I mean yeah, cuz they don't want it's not it's just past a joke. It wasn't like you you know, it's a friendly thing. You're playing a joke on there was a conversation and then you went by and she said it caused more of a problem. >> I never I never said it was a joke. I >> I know you didn't. I'm saying that's why I'm saying that's why I'm saying >> closure for for me, I guess. And like I said, it was immature. I know I shouldn't have done it. You know. >> All right. >> But >> Uh just stand by with this officer. I'll be right back. >> Oh my gosh, if I known it was going to cause this much of a commotion, I wouldn't have done it. >> She ever walks up to my wife [music] again, I'm telling you. >> Don't say anything. >> She got right in her face, bro, before she hit me. >> Don't say something you can't go back on. You sit tight. Let him do his investigation. He'll come over, he'll talk to you. I'm sure he's going to get photographs, a statement, whatever. And then we'll go forward. We'll get you a victim's right booklet. We'll go from there. >> We'll get your information, Jesse, and we'll be out of here. You'll be staying, you're not going to the hospital by ambulance, okay? >> We're out on the big boy screen. Just hang out here till they're done. You said you got another case. Who's that with? >> Her. She >> No, I mean what what other what agency? >> It's uh >> What is it? No. Sheriff's office. Same [music] thing. >> So that was County Sheriff's office, yeah. >> She broke into my house. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, and they watched her go in and then she stole my device. My dad died this year. She stole my dad's mason jar off the property and and then the police had to bring it back. But she didn't know that the police knew that she stole it off the property. >> Yeah. >> So they had to bring it back. So they they want to fully press charges on her. They called me and said they want me to come in so we can fully press charges cuz they caught her inside the house. >> One final piece of the investigation remained. Officers now needed to learn whether independent witnesses had seen the confrontation the same way. >> What's going on, fellas? >> How you doing? >> Hey, were you guys standing over when this happened? >> And no, I was I was like a >> Do you know any of the people that were involved? Okay, so no? >> Well, the dude that got hit, I've met him but from here. >> Okay. >> really know him. >> Yeah, you're like you're not friends, family, anything like that, right? Okay. What happened? What did you guys see? >> Um I was chilling, talking. He was standing like right here. Lady came up spraying like silly string and then like threw it at her. >> Threw it Wait, threw it at the the girl? >> No, no. The girl threw it at the dude's face. >> The girl that was spraying it threw it at the guy? >> Yeah, point blank threw it at his >> Okay. Did you see it hit him? >> Yeah, absolutely. >> Okay. >> Oh, it was like literally right in front of me. >> OKAY. >> OH, NO. She's in deep [ __ ] >> [laughter] >> Yeah, they don't have video of it, but they have two guys that were standing around that are not affiliated with them at all. They're not like friends who are going to speak on his behalf or whatever. Just straight up say that she chucked that can of silly string right at his freaking face. And they were like, "Yeah, we watched it hit him. It happened right here." >> [gasps] >> OH, NO. OH, HONEY, there's eyewitnesses. Oh, no. Yeah, you can't like battery or assault someone in front of a live audience. Can't do it. Can't do it. Damn. You know, and she almost had him with that whole story, too. The whole like slippery can, it fell out of my fingers. That whole story, they were almost buying it. Not anymore. No, no, that was sarcasm. They were never believing her. She was so full of [ __ ] >> Yeah. >> So, you guys are my independent witnesses on this for this thing? >> Understood. >> You guys care to like if I can get your information just so I can add you to It's not saying that you guys are going to have to go to court for anything, but it's just your It's statements. That's all it is. That's all it is. I appreciate it, guys. Makes it a lot easier. >> Yeah. >> And you And you seen him get hit, too? Okay. >> And if you want, I can >> The same exact story. I was asking him about his bike standing right next to him. And I saw the silly string come out of my peripheral vision. And he knocked both of them down. Crazy. My second time here. >> It's a childish. It's what it is. All right, thanks, man. Appreciate it. You guys have a good night. Thank you. >> What started with a can of silly string had become much more than a simple disturbance. By the end, officers had gathered enough evidence to determine how the confrontation unfolded. >> Was Michael involved at all like >> What's up? I'm sorry. >> Was a male involved at all? It doesn't sound like >> The teal shirt? >> Yeah. No. >> Okay. So, he's good. Yeah, I got two independent witnesses saying that she did it. So, she's going to go 10-15. >> Teal shirt's good? >> Yeah, you get him out. He's good. >> I do need to go 10-15, so I'll just try to get him. >> Yeah. All right, Crystal. [music] So, I found two independent witnesses that witnessed the whole thing. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> So, this is your chance to tell me exactly what happened. >> Okay. Well, I mean, that's I didn't intend to hit him. You know, I did not [music] intend to throw it at him. >> Well, it sounds like it was more than just a mic drop. >> No, I No, I didn't say it was kind of, you know, like a toss. I didn't intend to hit him or even come near him. >> Okay. >> And I mean, I get apparently it did. >> All right. So, for right now, I need you to put the Give me your drink and put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. Can I >> You need property to go with Mike's? >> I'm sorry. >> You need property to go with Mike's? >> I do. I do. My keys Yes, sir. I appreciate that. My keys Uh my keys, my cigarettes. I also need to tell him where my car keys are because he's going to need to use my vehicle to pull the motorcycle trailer to pick my bike up. >> How old is the bike? >> He does bike, but he's got a motorcycle here in his own. >> So he can't ride? >> Right. Right. >> He's got to get a trailer to take yours? >> Yeah, I've got a motorcycle trailer at my house, and I've got a hitch on my vehicle. So, if I >> We'll get you We'll get you to the car. >> All right. Do I have to get a bond on this? >> You'll get a bond. >> Like tonight, is it a cash bond that I can just pay for it? >> get a bond. >> Yeah, we So, we don't control that part. When you go to the jail and get the process done, they'll tell you all about it. >> Can I give So, sorry. Can I give him these keys? >> Uh yes. Yes. >> And then your cigarettes? >> And the cigarettes, yes. >> And your wallet? You don't want anything from your wallet to go with you, like an ID or credit card? >> Yes. >> Mike. She wants you to have this stuff. She Once we get her secured in the car, she's going to talk and we'll give her a chance to get to talk to her. If you give us a minute to get her secured, she's going to tell you where her car keys are to get the trailer to get the bike out of the way. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> in a couple of minutes. So, if you give us like 2 minutes, we'll We'll We'll let her talk. What's uh Don't reach for anything. What What's in that right there? >> It's probably a a couple lighters. >> Okay. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> I'll get it for you. I think I might have some Chapstick. No, I think I took that out. But, I do have my phone. >> Yeah, just take it out and we'll put it in property. >> With my Yeah, can you zip that up though, so nothing falls out? I thought I had lost my wallet. >> Okay. >> Thank god I found it though. >> All right. Have a seat for me. >> Yep. Silver lining. You're getting arrested, BUT THANK GOD you found your wallet. >> [laughter] >> God. At least she's complying and she's not resisting. I mean, she knew deep down she [ __ ] up. She knew deep down she [ __ ] up, and so she's just hanging her head. She's like, "Yep. Put the handcuffs on." Hopefully, it's a cash bond tonight and I can just get out and forget that this night ever happened. Yeah. It sounds like this little confrontation thing she's got with this guy goes a little bit deeper than she was letting on. >> Oh, careful. You all right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, she's going to jail. Uh she's got a battery charge. Okay. I got to take a picture of that. I know there's a Band-Aid. >> Rip it off. >> You're going to have to Oh, I don't need you to rip it off. I just need you to open it up so I can take a photo. >> Yeah, take the Band-Aid. >> Yeah, you can leave the whole thing on. I just need the one side open. >> [singing] >> What about her boyfriend? >> What about her boyfriend? >> I mean, he came up and tried to attack me several times, dude, after she split my head open. >> So, first off, let me let me say it. The reason why she's going to jail for this is because I found two independent witnesses that don't know anyone that any of the parties that are involved. I told you to give me the story of what happened. The only story they gave me is you getting hit. Nothing about the the guy doing anything. And then, if I even walked you over there, there's not a soul over there that's going to fight you. So, I don't have anything going on. I can put in a report that's what you told me happened, but for the boyfriend's sake, he's not going to jail or anything like that. >> All right, I'm tired of He's doing the same thing she's doing. Every time I You want to keep talking Oh, you want to fight? He walked right up to me. I thought I was going to have to hit him. Like right right in my face, dude. What am I supposed to do if he keeps trying to attack me? >> I mean, call. If he if he tries to attack you, get it on video, you know? >> I had no idea this was happening. This I got I got snuck attacked. >> Yeah, no, I get it. >> We didn't even see this coming. We just We got sprayed in our eyes, and then don't >> If you're going to stay, I recommend staying away from you because now he's pissed. Not saying he's going to come attack you, but he might try to call on you. >> going to keep running. He's going to keep talking. I talked >> Crystal was transported to the Pinellas County Jail for booking. She was charged with one count of misdemeanor battery. Investigators established probable cause after comparing the physical evidence, witness statements, the victim's injuries, and Crystal's own admissions. The investigation ended with her arrest. >> And see, this is what happens when you just know that you're wrong and you go willingly. You end up with one misdemeanor battery charge. Just one. So many times we see people just continuing to stack charges because they won't go quietly. Crystal went quietly. I mean, yeah, she sprayed him with a can of silly string, then she chucked it at his head and drew blood. I know that there's a lot more going on with this story than they were letting on, but >> [laughter] >> You can't do that. You can't spray kids with garden hoses and you can't hose down bikers with silly string. I also wanted to let everyone know that I have opened up channel memberships.
