I said, "Here, I did this and I grabbed your head and I did that and I said, "There I pulled your hair and I headbutted you." How did she pull your hair? She pulled it like this. Uhhuh. And then she headbutted me like Okay, so here's the thing, though. You als you you also pulled the hair of a child and headbutted her. Yeah, I didn't do that hard, but you're absolutely correct. It's the holiday season in Ogal County, Illinois, where one woman is not exactly making spirits bright by, but get this, allegedly headbutting a child. Cigarettes real fast. What? On the phone with your lady. I wasn't that tall. Okay. But it all started because for one, I don't think there's going to hang on. Come on in. Yeah. Hang on. Where? No. No. No. Hang on. No. No, you're not going to assault a child and try to make me the bad guy. All right, hang on. I haven't even gotten anywhere yet. Yeah, because she the door. Please, just wait. All right. So, there was already heated discussion going on and then I finally said, "You know what? Keep your pissy kid out of my do out of my bed." And I probably shouldn't have said that. That was wrong, but he come walking up and got in my face and poked in my face like this. Sorry. sorry and told me that I would never put my hands on her again. And I never put my hands on any of these kids, not even mine. Police identify the suspect seen here as 36-year-old Martha Dunham, who also called police alongside the man in the home after a heated argument allegedly led to her headbutting a six-year-old, followed by an alleged altercation between the adults. And he said that I pulled her hair and I headbutted her. And I said, "I have never once done that and I don't lie about it." So I walked into the bathroom. She's standing there in here in here. I said, "Here." I did this. I grabbed her head and I did that and I said, "There." I pulled your hair and I headbutted you. Now you can say that. He literally picked me up off of ground and slammed me in the hallway. And then when I got up, he pushed me into the closet door. The my daughter's bath bed started going. It's mess in there. Okay. Well, hang on. Do you have any Do you have any I don't know if I do. My hair was falling out cuz he was pulling my hair. Literally just picked me up and slammed me on the floor. How did he do that? By my throat. He literally picked me up, grabbed my throat, grabbed my back, and slammed me on the floor. Could you breathe a little bit? Like I'm so I'm I'm not I don't even feel good, first of all. Okay. Do you need medical attention? No. My head's pounding out from smacking the floor. Okay. And then when I got up, then he still came after me and pushed me into the closet door and wouldn't let me go. Okay. All right. Um, let me go talk to see what his sight is. Um, I'm just going to run into Let's not do that. Let's not do that. Nope. Just stay in your car. Cigarettes are not important right now. Okay. Yeah. Grab a soda pop. I got to take my kids to school in Rosco. The officer listens to Martha's side of the story and heads inside to get the other side. Wait in your car. That's nice. Well, kids don't need to be in there. Not in here. Okay. What's going on here? Right here. All right. Okay. Yeah. So, all right. What's going on, man? So, we woke up. Well, she's been asleep since probably about 5:00 last night because she hasn't been feeling good. Okay. Whatever. I set her up with medicine, water, cough drops, whatever. Woke up this morning. She got up. I She was still taking her son to school. She's like being all smart. Well, yeah, I got a I still got a parent and this that and the other. So, I didn't say nothing. Whatever. We kind of went about doing what we were doing. And then I don't know what led to it, but it led to uh just us arguing about her being sick now and and being or her being sick now and nobody being here to stay home to take care of or or anybody. And uh we were talking about how cuz my other kids were sick. So, you know, she's basically a stay at home mom. she's our caretaker for our daughter here. Mhm. And how she would how she sat home with him because, you know, she volunteered to or whatever. And then I don't know really what it it was all blur to be honest. And what led to it was I don't know what led to it, but I ended up bringing up what my niece shared with my sister. So my niece shared with my sister that her that Marty hurts her when I'm not here. That she pulls her head hair and headbutts her. And so I called her out on it. You know, I was here at this end of the hallway. She was there at that end of the hallway. And I I said I said, "Don't do that." I said, "Don't do that." So, next thing you know, she's rushing into the bathroom, brushing her hair, pulls her hair to prove a point, and gives her a little head tap or a headbutt. I don't know. So, I just grabbed her and I threw her off of her. Basically, that's what I did. You know, she's not going to go in there to prove a point. You're going to do that. How'd you grab her? I don't know. I Can I show you? No, you cannot show on me. No, I don't know. I grabbed her and I don't know by the throat. I don't know to be honest. I just She was in there hurting my girl, my daughter, you know. I Okay. How'd she grab her hair? I didn't grab her hair. No. How did she grab her hair? Don't show me. Don't show me. Like, you could show me, but not on me. Ponytail, you know, or or her hair. Her hair. Just grab went look behind her. She wasn't even expecting it. Just grabbed her hair and headbutt her. See there? Now, now I did it or whatever. Now, now, now or cuz she cuz I was calling her a liar or whatever. I was like, "What? You're call you're saying she's lying? She's a liar, you know." And that was her way to prove a point that now now I can say that she did it. Okay. All right. Um, let's see. how many kids. And I mean, I don't know how many times she's punched me and I've got documentation of it that I didn't call. So, I mean, I I I really Well, when stuff like this happens, when you get hit, punched, whatever, and you know, like call. Yeah. Yeah. I'm going to from now on because apparently it doesn't work both ways, you know? I mean, I don't know. What do you mean it doesn't work both ways? I don't know. I just uh for what she did. The officer tries to hear the man out, but it's not long until Martha decides she's not done talking just yet. I just I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I'm I'm really kind of confused right now. I'm just This is body in the hallway. I didn't body slam. You lost your feet. Stop. I lost my footing. Yeah. Okay. Listen, listen, listen. You didn't Listen, please. I'm trying to conduct an investigation. I don't need you interrupting it. There is investigation. Okay. This is what I need you to do is I need you to just please Is your car warmed up? Yeah. Just stay there in the car and just wait there, please. Okay. Okay. So, I'm just trying to take everybody's information. So, Martha is sent back outside while the officer continues trying to get to the bottom of what happened here. Next, he gets a chance to talk to the alleged victim. All right. Okay. So, when what happened? Um sometimes 11 stat when I have a wet fed she it's warm she pulls my hair and headbutt me. Okay. What happened today? Um nothing. just um when when dad was asking Marty to if she knows where the thermometer is, they just got in a fight and then it was and then dad stepped in and said Bill pulled her hand headbutt in and dad said, "You're calling her a liar." And then dad threw her down to the ground and she lost her balance. And then she came into the bathroom and then she pulled my hair and headbutted me. Okay. How did she pull her hair? How did she pull your hair? She pulled it like this. Uh-huh. And then she headbutted me like right right up on right where you hit. Mhm. Okay. Are you hurt? Do you need uh medical attention or anything like that? Somebody to check you out or are you good? I'm good. Okay. All right. You mind if I take a look at your Okay. Um you mind if I just see Does your head hurt a little bit from pulling my hair? Okay. All right. Was it a hard pull? Yes. Okay. All right. And does your head hurt right up here? No. Okay. Just in the back where she Okay. All right. Okay. And that happened today, right? Okay. Then what what happened after what happened after that? Um then he did um he did um he f threw her down to the ground and then she lost her balance. That's what happened after that. The officer interviews three other children living in the home who all tell a similar story. Moments later, officers step outside to discuss the situation. Yeah, I know. Well, I pulled up and he just pulled up and then Oh, he tried coming out. He's here. Let's go over um you want to go over to Casey's for cigarettes. I'm like, "No, we're not doing that cigarettes." And I'm pouring it right there. So, yeah. Um anyway, okay. So, this is kind of a mess. Um, so she she's saying that they started arguing and then she um is it uh because uh stating that she um was accusing her of pulling the daughter's hair. Oh, you know, and then I guess to make a point according to her, she went in the bathroom and just did a little tug on her hair and gave her a little headbutt to her head. I'm like, "Okay." And then he goes ahead, he grabs her and takes her off of her. Um, she says she uh he grabbed her by the neck and like threw her to the ground. Like, okay. I looked at her neck. It looked a little bit red, but that's why I wanted to have some time for things to develop. No, no, no. And I appreciate you guys coming out because I'm like, "Oh, boy." All right. Well, just stay just stay in your car. But she comes back in and then she's running the mouth again and then I'm just like, "No, no. I'm conducting investigation." Next, the officer heads back inside to ask the man a few more questions. So when you guys were in the bathroom, how did how did she like what transpired in the bathroom? So I was outside of the bathroom. She was like right here. Okay. And again, we were going back and forth about what my niece had shared with my sister about what she was doing to when I wasn't here. Yeah. And uh again, I said, "Are you calling her a liar?" All right. So what are you saying? She's lying. She's like, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, she is." And then the next thing you know, she justies rushes into the bathroom and pulls her hair and headb Where Where did she Where did she pull her hair? Like No, no, no, no, no, no. Like on on the where on the In the back. Yeah, in the back. She wasn't even looking at her. She was looking at the mirror. She just came behind her. He tried his tail and then and then turned her around, flipped around real quick. Okay. Where did she hit her on the head? I'm guessing it was a headbutt, you know. I don't No, I'm No, I'm just asking like where exactly on that here. I'm Yeah, the forehead. I don't know if it was I don't know if it was in the back, in the front. Okay. All right. It's not a bad cuz she was literally facing her turned around. After she pulled her hair, she turned around. Yep. And did that walked away or tried to walk away and I I don't know if she walked I don't think she tried to walk crying afterwards. Yeah. Yeah, she was so she was okay. You know how much trauma that caught? I mean, that's like traumatizing to a child. No, it is. Okay. Um [Music] Okay. Well, here's what is going to happen right now. Um cuz it seems like, you know, like tells me the same thing and the boys um get hot uh was also right in the area and whatnot. He told me was going on um I'm going to be arresting her for battery to a child. I am going to be sending this up for review of charges on the uh domestic battery on your one right there. That's a baton because I mean there's I real I realize that you were trying to you know I I realize that But the way she described it and the way that you described it are very similar in nature where you know like I just that's what's going to happen. So yeah. Okay. Okay. Um so I mean I you know I realize that you were trying to protect but the the act in which you tried to Yes. That's where that's that's where it is. Almost the same size. So, um, but I mean that's I mean with you telling me that she you know uh that she got hit and whatnot. I mean, you know, um, it's what it's supposed to. All right. Yeah. Yeah. Court records show the mother of the six-year-old asked for a protective order against Martha, citing quote physical contact of an insulting or provoking nature. All right. Hey, um, mind just stepping out? I just want to take a look at your neck again. So, you Well, I mean, well, because, you know, I need to see what's, you know, like I realize, but you know what? These things are not quick. These things do not happen like they do on TV. Oh, yeah. It wasn't like he like he just picked me up and slammed me on the ground. It wasn't like he sat there and choked me out. [Music] All right. You see? I mean, I can see a little bit, but All right. Well, yeah. Let me just I don't know how you sit out here that whole time. My truck. I sit on the truck. I seen you stand out here though. I was like, "Good God, just I did not stand." He's got to take some pictures. Okay. Oh, no. Just look at me. Okay. No. All right. Okay. All right. So, can I hop back in, Marty? Well, no, we're not going to do that. Um, so what's happening is Okay. Um, with what I was talking with the people in there and even you admitting to pulling your hair, you're under arrest for domestic battery, too. Okay. So, so, you know, we will take care of that. Okay. But what's happened? You literally slammed me on the ground and then picked me up and slammed me into the closet door. Okay, so here's the thing though. You als you you also pulled the hair of a child and headbutted her. Yeah, I didn't do that hard as well. But yeah, you're absolutely correct, you know. Yeah, you're absolutely. So, I mean, it's not and it's not just one person I talked to in there. There's I talked to everybody. That's what I and I admitted it to you as soon as you told me that. Can I shut my car off? We will take care of that. You don't know where the keys at. Where's the key? It's in. You got to flip this guy up and it's in the thing. Okay. All right. Can I grab my debit card so I get bonded out or anything? Well, you're gonna be seeing a judge or this morning or today at some point. Okay. So, you could just face the car. Okay. All right. Hands behind the back. Okay. All right. Do you have anything on you that would harm me, you know, harm me, stab me, blow me up? Anything like that? Call my dad. I will. Bye. Bye. You got some small wrists here. Yeah, I do. I just I I just don't want to hurt you, you know. You're fine. You're fine. So, okay. All right. Where's your debit card? Uh, can I really tell you right now? Um, honestly. Okay. It's all right. I get home. Okay. All right. There's no cash anymore. So, it's not like you're any money to buy now. It's just you just got to see. Do you have anything in this pocket? right here. All right. Nothing around. [Music] Okay. And then any No. Nope. I'm just going to cuz I could see if something's in there. So, and anything in this bottom one? No. All right. Bottom one. No. Okay. All right. We're going to go back to my car. Going to go on the passenger side here. Okay. Am I going on the other side so we can buckle? Am I going on the other side to buckle? Martha, who reportedly has domestic violence charges dating back to 2006, was taken to jail and booked for aggravated battery of a child under 13 and domestic battery. So, we can roll up your window, lock the car. Do you want the keys with you? Yeah. Can I? Yeah. Yeah. That's Yeah, I've got the key fob. You literally got to push the key fob in to be able to pull the whole key fob out. That's why I asked you if I could just do it. I'll get it done. Sneaky spot. Is there a phone in there? You need There is. Can you grab it? Yep, we can do that, too. Okay, perfect. Anything else? Nope, that's it. Okay. All right. I just want to make sure not taking anything that the jail's going to take away, but you're more Is there a way that I can call my son into school? Cuz he goes to school in Rockton. Well, you're um when we get down to the jail, you'll be able to make some phone calls. Okay. While awaiting the conclusion of her charges, Martha was released on the condition that she make no contact with any children under the age of 18. Court records show she later accepted a deal and pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of domestic violence while the aggravated battery charge was dropped. She was sentenced to 30 additional months of conditional release and fines.
