Defiant messages, concerning videos, and conflicting statements. All of it led police into a tense investigation, uncovering the truth about two mothers. >> I didn't do nothing to my daughter. >> She sent me videos of her just messing with pushing her in her head, making her cry because I'm just tired of her blowing me up. I'm not worried. >> She's going to try. I better come get my key. >> And I just blacked out after that. >> She chased me upstairs and I locked myself in the >> Did she get hurt at all videos? >> No. She pushed me against the wall. >> From Colorado to Georgia, the darkness of family struggles emerged and the children's safety became the focus of the investigation. The videos the mother sent to the child's father along with troubling behavior forced authorities to act. >> I seen that video and oh my god, I was grateful. On December 16th, 2024, a father in Loveland, Colorado, received a series of videos from the child's mother showing their one-year-old unattended. He was forced to bring the child to police for urgent help. At the station, he began recounting what the mother's behavior had been like toward their child. >> Hi there. Hi. >> How are you? Too bad. How about you guys? >> We've had better days. >> Better days. What's going on today? Me and her mother split up and I've of course been not answering her because she's crazy. >> This was a fight. >> Okay. >> And she sent me videos of her just messing with her, pushing her in her head, making her cry. And I just want to >> emergency custody or however I go about just getting custody of her or whatever. Okay. >> That's where you guys >> fighting started yesterday morning. >> 3809 Simpson Avenue over in Fairfax. >> Okay. That's where you guys actually live. >> Yes. That's >> and she lives up here. >> Okay. Where did she live? >> West over. >> Okay. So, it's going to be kind of complicated because technically where you guys are taking residence where the child is currently is supposed to be the department that's supposed to take the report on this. We can obviously >> have been there but we had >> Yeah, I just went and picked her up. So, you actually lived >> he used to he was living there. He just moved in with me. >> Okay. When you guys split up, you moved out. Okay. How long? >> Last Friday. Not this Friday, but following Friday. >> Okay. Do you have the videos and everything? Yes. My phone >> just did that. >> Turn the volume on. Yeah. Go. >> That's the >> And that's cuz I wasn't answering my phone. >> And she just keeps doing it. I mean, >> how old? >> She's literally a year in a couple days. 19. >> She'll be a year. >> What's her name? Mom's >> Yeah. I just want to go the fastest route. So I just pulled in here cuz I just picked her up over here 202 that blue one >> and she has no license. >> What's her name? >> Kid home yesterday when all that and she's stalking my house. I got video of her driving past. >> Do you happen to know her birthday? >> Yeah. >> What's the uh phone number that she keeps sending stuff from? >> Oh my numbers. I mean, they go >> her actual number is 513. >> Mhm. >> 3132. >> Yeah. I got to save. >> I had blocked because I'm just tired of her blowing me up while I'm at work, you know. So, I blocked her. Her way to like get me all blocked was I guess video. She's like, "If you don't want to block me, d I'm not seeing it cuz I'm at work." I seen that video and oh my god, I was grateful I was having. Police advised the father to contact CPS, file a full report with evidence, and seek emergency custody to ensure the child's safety. >> One thing I would Yeah, obviously you talked about child protective services. >> We're going there in the morning. >> Yeah. Get a hold of them as soon as possible. Okay. Make sure that you make a full report with them, explain everything that's going on. >> Anybody just told me like I'd go to the police station at least so it shows you a report and it was urgent, whatever. I just want to do the best route. >> I'm going to tell you probably at best to you said it's in Fairfax. Reach out to Fairfax as well. Make sure you make some kind of a report with that. >> I can't get in trouble for having her, can I? I don't want her to be able to call and say, >> "What's the custody situation?" >> There is none. Yeah. Then you should be fine as long as you have legal right to have your child. There's not like a custody. >> Ever married? >> Are we married? >> Were you? No. >> I'm going to step in real quick. So, her living here, we're going to take the initial report. Also, you can go online to CPS's website. You guys can also make your own report and upload. I don't know if you can help with the videos, but you guys can make your own report on there as well and type your notes, type your information, everyone's information. We will also call them ourselves tonight. Legally, she has full custody over the child because you guys have never married. However, we are not going to enforce that messages of her saying because of the allegations that are at hand and the child's wellbeing and safety. We're not going to entertain her trying to take custody of the child back. I would tomorrow morning though go to Hamilton County and seek emergency full custody and show the images that you do have. I can't guarantee charges necessarily, but we >> don't even I just want her. I don't even care. >> Well, I mean, >> I want charges grandma >> charges. I mean, we'll we'll investigate it as if there's potential for charges, especially charges >> assault on somebody. >> Yeah, she's she's respons responsible for the care and wellbeing of the child and putting soap on the child is not probably >> all to get at me. Yeah. So, keep all the evidence you have. Also, I would for you guys tonight, >> do the CPS website. >> If you just go on there, you can create your own claim, >> okay? >> With all the information and in the morning, go and get your emergency custody ASAP. So, then she can't go anywhere and try to say, "Oh, he took my kid." At least it shows like you're taking initiative, too. Also, I get the protection orders. I'm getting I'm going to my car the dentist out of her car. >> If she keeps sending messages to you and stuff like that, go get the protection order, but as of our end, we will take the initial report. We have your guys' information, get the infant's information as well, >> Elena. >> Okay. So, basically what I'll do is I'll send you, it'll come via text, okay? There will be a little link that just allows you to upload all of that information, upload those videos, upload anything that you have, pictures, if you have text messages in any kind of way, >> anything, >> right? >> I'm sure he's got plenty that >> all the other messages keep for your protection order, >> right? >> Documents, notes, and details about the mother's actions should also be carefully kept to strengthen the legal case if needed. >> Anything that involves the welfare of the child, screenshot those text messages, and you can upload them all. She said that about the baby and was going to drop her off on our doorstep and stuff. >> That would be something to Yeah. >> Keep it for yourself. >> There is countless amounts of just messages of her just >> Yeah. Because in the background that actually helps us establish kind of her mindset on stuff and why she's doing some of the stuff that she's doing. So, let me make sure that there's other Cynthia and everything else >> which is >> But then she plays crazy >> to the right. >> Soon as you pull in, >> did she just make >> Yeah. See, he probably never had any never had to talk. >> She's had shoulder surgery, so I can have a hard time listening. >> She's very vocal. Very vocal. >> Police mobilized all resources to locate the mother, but she had been missing for 48 hours. The situation only shifted when they were notified of her presence at a local hospital where authorities immediately moved in to make contact. >> So, if you have any questions, I want you to ask them at the end. Ask me. Okay? So, before I ask you any questions, you have to understand your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court. You have the right to speak with the lawyer for advice before we ask any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to you before any questioning if you wish. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you have the right to stop answering at any time. You also have the right to stop answering anytime until you speak with a lawyer. >> Okay? Cuz I eventually will want a lawyer, but I'll answer some questions. I don't have to answer them all. Right? >> You can answer whatever you want to answer today with me. Okay? >> Do you remember my first name? >> No. >> Jesse. Okay. You can call me Jesse. You don't have to call me detective. Okay. So, before I ask you any questions, you'll just sign right there and then you'll print your name on the next line and then I'll sign it and then Candace will do the same. So, let's I set the stuff down. >> The case grew more complex when the mother's statements conflicted with accounts from the father and his mother. >> You and Steve, tell me about your relationship. I kind of with it right now. >> It was good. His mom did a lot of he's crazy. show her son to move on, let go, have his own family, chew her ass, take pictures of our cars outside and stuff like that while we would cut her off. It would make it worse. Well, then when we fight, he runs back there and tells her all the business that's been going on since she wasn't. Then she takes on us and then I get cool with her again and then she brings up my giddy spot. Then he doesn't want to see the part look at it like, "Oh, he's he's had this whole time." and well your mom. >> The reason why >> Yeah. And now she she's loving everywhere this right now with my kids. She said it the whole time. I can't wait till you leave the kids or you he leaves you and never comes back. So it made our relationship really toxic. If you didn't like that I'm a pretty girl and people text my phone or something doesn't text back or someone looks at me in some way out in public or say something or I'm and I don't want to I don't want to be with you. People tell me I'm ugly and I have two kids. No one's going to want me in the video game. He loves and the I don't like it. And he does. >> He does. Mhm. >> I don't like it around my children. His mom would pick Lena up and smoke a joint while she's in her vehicle. You can't do that. I'm sorry, but you can't. >> And if you went there right now, she would sneak by the And she uses that. She has a medical card. Well, I thought if you have a medical card, you can't have them in the same room. But I'm not sure how that works. I don't know. >> Yeah. Yeah. That's something I'm not going to get into right now with everything. >> Yeah. and she'll be crawling and he won't even pay attention. Like if I went to the garage and come back, my house would be destroyed. He'd be on the game. >> So he's not paying attention what she's doing. >> No, he just thinks, "Oh, we'll clean it up later." Like what if she got an assignment and it was small and you couldn't see it. But you have to worry >> about her on it or something. >> Yeah, some thief. I've never been a bad mom. Never been on my mind. Like I just want to change. >> Yeah, you're going through a hard time and I'm sorry that that's going on. This is the right stuff for you. Okay, but you're going you're going to need some help here. These people are great with what they do. >> And Christmas, I won't be able to see my kids. >> Let's just see. We don't know what what tomorrow holds. Okay. Do you want a tissue or anything or a drink of water or something? >> I asked for a pop, but I don't think they brought us. >> Yeah. Do you want a tissue? You want a tissue, too? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. You blow your nose and wipe your eyes. >> The mother also expressed regret over what had happened to the child. >> You are remorseful. You know what that means, right? That means you know that you made a mistake. >> I made one and that's okay. So, you know, the videos I did see them, too. >> I know. >> And I'm a great mom. >> You are. Was there anybody else in the house besides you and your kids? And that was last night. >> Yeah. No one was. >> Nobody else was there was just you. >> Yeah. >> Have you ever videoed? >> I tried reaching out to get out. You wouldn't take her. He had her from Friday to Sunday and got her at 6:00 at night. I went out Saturday with my friends. It was her birthday. We went some Mexican or something. Matter of fact, I said, "I'm not even home." He said, "I don't care. You better be home." Hold on. I think I had to, too. Thought he was going to kick the door in and leave a ring outside the front door all because I went out. So, I texted him. I said, "I didn't even mentally out." He laughed, blocked me, thinking it's funny. He don't even know. He says, "I'm chemically about." >> Have you uh was that the first time? >> This is the first time >> last night that anything's ever happened with with any of your kids. >> Yes. She further revealed conflicts in the co-parenting relationship and ongoing psychological pressures. >> In one of the videos you you had said about the dish detergent. >> Yeah. At first I was just playing with her, but no, me and her were playing before that and I just blacked out after that. >> That was how all this stuff that you were doing. >> Okay. So all the stuff that >> I got plenty of stuff after I get out of what happened. >> We can you got my card. >> Okay. of him saying he's a child and stuff. He's trying to make it for me like I'm some horrible person. I'm not. I showed up one time and this is all over it. >> So, this is just that now last night was the the lowest point for you. You just couldn't handle anything. >> Couldn't handle it. >> I get it. Were you just mad at him? >> Because he tries to say after that weekend, he said he'll never do it again that he was going to go through courts for visitation and I know he's not going to do that. He's just saying that. So, I think that so he can just go home and not see his kids, but when he's at home, he can be a good dad. He takes care of them. He sends new money to take care of them or whatever, >> but watching them and being a dad and sitting down playing with your children and stuff. He doesn't do that. >> Yeah. You want him to be involved. You want to be involved. I get that. You want to have >> Because you're there don't mean you're involved. >> You want to be good a parent and you want him to be as well. >> I tried doing parenting with him. He says, "I got myself." >> Who's that? >> He said, "Yeah, >> in response, police focused on encouraging her and helping her stay calm." >> So, did you send those those videos just to him? That was it. Just cuz you were mad. You wanted him to come pick pick her up. >> Yeah, cuz I wanted He thought I was playing like I was not going to have a mental breakdown. >> You wanted him to come get her. You needed that. >> Yes. And I needed it. And my mom is my little brother and stuff and it just all happened so fast. >> So you're doing everything you could to get him to get over there >> and get help. Please get him. >> He doesn't I have to do something or say something to him like I'll have sex with you if you come here. >> Yeah. So you're trying to do everything to get him to be involved. >> To be involved everything I can and now he wants to thank my child. Just tell me 3 days ago I'm the best mom ever to them kids and that's why he loves me so much. So this is you're getting pulled back and forth with him all over the place. >> Toxic. >> Yeah. You need someone who's great for you and for your kids, too. You're going to find that one day. I know today you can't think about that very difficult for you. >> You know, here's going to be my family. >> Yeah. So the bra's baby. Did she get hurt at all? >> No. >> You were just mad. You a couple times. Do you mean to? I know. I'm sorry. This is tough to talk about. I do appreciate you though that you're talking to me. >> It sucks. >> Yeah. >> You got the same ring on. Where'd you get Is that a special ring? >> Yeah. >> I bought it myself. >> You bought it yourself? >> Are you working right now? >> You want to work? >> Mhm. >> Do you have any questions for me? I'm not going to sing around anymore cuz you're going to go talk upstairs and everything. But if I leave today or whenever I can call you, >> we can meet up and talk. >> My email is on there too as well. You can reach out. You have it. You got the card there somewhere. I can give you another one. >> I gave you my card, too. >> Oh my god. >> I got it. Okay. So, you got my information. What's my first name without looking at the card? Oh, you looked at it. Jesse. >> Jesse. Toy Story. Right. >> That's right. That was the girl in Toy Story. >> All right. I appreciate you. Thank you for being honest with me. I I get it. And that's a step from being an adult and a responsible adult when you make a mistake. >> I did it. >> I'm not going to tell the world that I deactivated. >> And guess what? This conversation is between you and I. I don't go out and tell anyone >> that I deactivated my social media. >> You should >> because it was bad. >> After her explanations, the mother was faced legal action related to childment and domestic violence. In court, she was released under strict conditions including no unsupervised contact with the child. The child was placed with a father and child protective services opened a case for long-term safety. >> Thank you. I did. >> All kinds of drama last couple weeks, huh? >> Oh, didn't I didn't I see you over there the other day when uh all the all the PlayStation stuff. Yeah. Watch yourself. >> All right. Here. Right. Go ahead and have a seat. Butt first. All right. Buckle in. Right. There you are. Thank you, sir. Appreciate it. >> Yeah. Appreciate it. Paperwork sucks. All right. >> A child alone, even briefly, is can lead to serious legal consequences. This video reminds us that parenting is absolute and a child's safety cannot be ignored. The case in Colorado was not the only one. At another home in Georgia, the truth behind closed doors revealed an even more thought-provoking story. >> She was scaring me because what she was doing because she banged on the door really loud. >> On August 4th, 2024, police received an emergency call from a family reporting that the mother showed signs of wanting to herself after discovering her husband's infidelity. When officers arrived, they encountered a scene of chaos. Only once things calmed down did the father begin sharing about his wife's behavior. >> Hey y'all go stand behind my car. >> Y'all go stand behind my car. Okay. [Music] >> Go talk about right there. Where's he at? >> I don't know. He ran. >> Go down there with him. >> 911. >> Put your hands. >> Got anything. Cut me in his pocket. Back over there, buddy. >> You got nothing in his pocket. >> Well, getting everything out of my pocket. >> All right. Now, you're being detained. >> I got my youngest six-year-old son. Where's River? >> I got all of them down here. All three of the kids are down there. >> So, we got going on. >> I was in town at work. Was trying to go to work. She's been on me all day about coming back home. Coming back home because her brother has been harassing me for the over about a year now. All right. That's her brother. All right. Well, he's been on her. He's done calling her probation off. All sevens and down and down. >> I say I'm familiar with the sit. I came out here the other day with I know about all the bro. I'm not concerned about what's going on today. >> Today Jay has got in touch with her probation officer, Officer Evans. Told her name >> Wade Blank. They might take PTS. >> But she damn got off at him and was calling me telling me her, you know, like I better come home or she's going to take all her damn pills. Colon down. She's going. I better come get my kids. So I come home. When I get home, she jumps on me as soon as I walk through the door, calling me a piece of how I'm going to let these folks do her this goddamn way. Just kept getting worse and worse. I tried to get her outside and she kept trying to come back through the damn door. I'm just saying like this that's I mean then she uh then when I had her out here, she was throwing that damn uh those loppers, those yellow handle loppers at my truck back over there. She start so I tried to get in between that and she came at me. So we I grabbed it and we fell to the ground. Well then that's when I was trying to just hold her down, tell her to stop. So, I looked at my daughter and told her to call y'all. That's what she did. She I let her up and then she went after my daughter up to the back upstairs bed uh bathroom in the master bedroom. That's when I came outside when she was trying to occupy trying to get the phone. I came and I called again cuz my daughter couldn't get a word in edgewise cuz she was scared to that. Dude, >> that's in the back of my car for now. >> I got a cut on my hand. >> The eldest daughter recounted the mother's actions, including behavior that put the children at risk. >> You chased me upstairs and I locked myself in the >> I don't want you to get any further. You're going to restart it so he can Yeah. So I can hear. >> Okay. So he pulled up and then all of a sudden he started screaming. Like he went downstairs screaming. >> What was he screaming about? >> Oh, I don't know. He was just screaming. >> Just hollering like I >> like What was he was he saying anything or just like making noise? Screaming. >> He's just making noise. Screaming. He uh went back up. He uh my mama started screaming at him and stuff and then >> saying what what was your mama saying? >> Uh she was talking about my uncle and her probation officer and stuff. Don't know what else because I was on the phone with y'all. >> What were they saying? Did you just say something about a probation officer and your uncle? >> They started talking about my uncle. I don't know. They just don't really like him. Once I told her I was on the phone with the cops. She chased me upstairs and I locked myself in the bathroom and she was banging. >> She chased you upstairs >> and then she started banging on the door. And my dad, he told her to go away because she was scaring me because what she was doing because she banged on the door really loud and my dad I opened the door for him and then she ran in there and took my phone and like she pushed me against the wall. >> Is this from her? >> Uhuh. I got bit by a dog yesterday. She like threw herself on me and I fell with my hand like let go of my phone and she busted it. >> Do you need AMR? Do you want to ambulance check you out? >> Yeah. She pulled my hair and stuff and said, "Do not put your hands on me and stuff." >> Who pulled your hair? >> My mama. Cuz I was trying to get She ran outside and she started chasing my dad. >> Did they bust the door down? >> Uhuh. I I opened the door for my dad because >> he wasn't the one coming after your phone. >> Uhuh. My mama was and then she busted it. So, as far as the physical altercation between them two, where's he at? >> He's in the back of my car right now. >> Between the physical altercation between them two, how did that take place? >> I don't know. He just came home and started yelling and hitting on her. >> He just as soon as he got home, he started >> Well, my mama my mama texted him some stuff like how she was going to herself if he didn't come home or say these type of things, tell somebody these type of things cuz she had a suspicion that he was cheating on him. Okay. >> Kind of crazy or possessive over people. So that's how she's kind of that over my dad and she gets she was like, "Oh, why is he always out late?" And all >> So did the physical altercation start out here or inside? >> It started inside downstairs. >> Is there a bunch of stuff moved around and everything? Can we go see it? >> Yeah, you can. But there's a dog there with puppies. I don't want to have dog. >> I can go like put her somewhere before we go inside. >> Okay. >> Police carefully discuss before deciding on the next steps. >> So she's not clear. So >> I think she started, >> you know, so he came home after. So basically, are you aware of the issue with the brother? >> She said something about >> So basically, there was a TPO between her and the brother at one point in time due to a family violence charge. It went out. They called us out here the other day for it, but apparently he's been asking them. The TPO is no longer valid cuz the court case got dismissed. And so basically, she texted him saying, "I'm myself." He talked to my probation officer about some stuff. >> She texted him. >> Yeah. Saying that she was going to take a bunch of clown. When he came home, she started throwing those who loppers at his truck and whenever that happened, he put her to the ground tried to get her to stop. >> Still the predominant officer. Yeah. So, who did more than >> That's what we're trying to figure out. She She's the one that has more She's the one that has physical. He has a on his arm. He said >> I didn't see his on his arm when he went to >> the daughter went on to reveal more truths about her mother >> in here. Okay. There's nobody else in the house, right? >> Our brother's in the house right now. >> Your cousin's in the house. No weapons or nothing crazy. So hard to tell if there's a fight in here. >> Exactly. You can't tell. I have nothing I was going to tell you that you can't really you're not going to be able to tell regardless because of the nature of this house. >> She said she didn't he didn't bust down the door that she opened the door. >> She opened the door for dad. Yeah. >> She's got more cuts, bruises, and stuff on her. So he she might have started it. He was finish. >> Yeah. >> Her eyes swole and she got strangulation marks all around her neck. >> Hey Aaliyah, can you come here for a second? >> So we got we got a third party. >> Well, she said that she was the only one outside when they got the >> That's what I'm saying. have hurt. >> We were fighting outside and she was getting thrown on the ground. What happened? Your dad, what did he do? And what did she do while in this altercation? >> She was running outside and my dad was behind her and then uh she like ran over here and then she picked up a wrench and threw it at his truck. >> Okay. >> Then he pushed her down. And then >> where did he down at? >> Uh she was over here. He was on top of her. >> So what do you mean? Like >> pulling on her and stuff. >> Pulling on her hair. bending over, pulling on her hair, all up in her face, like yelling in her ear and stuff, telling her that she was me. >> Did you ever grab her by the throat? >> No, sir. >> He never grabbed her by the throat or anything like that. >> He did a while back, but >> not a while back. >> A few months ago, >> I'm talking about today. >> Yeah, I know he didn't. >> Did he pull on her hoodie? Did she have the hoodie on at the time? >> Yeah, >> he did pull on the back. >> Was that looking out the window? >> That's a cousin. >> He did pull on the back of her hoodie. Where was that? Where did that happen? >> Right around in this area. >> And he pulled on the back of her hoodie and she fell. He got on top of her. >> Did he her while he was on top of her? He was just grabbing, pulling at her hair, yelling at her. >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> The mother also began to justify her own behavior. >> You got trigulation >> all day long, >> unfortunately. >> All right. So, he had took your cell phone also to where you couldn't call. >> Phone is downstairs. I would have to look for it. >> All right. Is it that one? The blue one? >> That's his phone. Okay. >> So, at any point, did you try to call 911? >> I he I didn't have my phone. He grabbed my phone. But see, he was supposed to be in Columbus. He got here within 10 minutes. I had no idea he was here. >> Let me see your neck. Move your hair back for me. Pull your back. >> I'm going to move your hair for you. Okay. >> Faced with conflicting statements, police had to carefully review the situation, determine who initiated the at the same time protect the children's interests. >> She started throwing those lers and apparently branches out. >> Got 25inut ETA. >> She's going in house. >> Looks like she already did. >> Basically, she's >> she told me she she had all over herself when he was her out here. >> Yeah. God, we only have her testimony for the physical altercation though really cuz the the daughter evidence >> daughter doesn't have any testimony saying the actual >> I took pictures. I'll can send them to you or what of the hair of the or the >> she said he pulled her by the hood. Yeah. I meant like >> did she say she he >> when I I've asked her a couple times. So we're thinking all the from the hoodie getting snatched >> or he went to grab her at some point her neck. Those look like finger. No, the bad thing is it looks like fingerprints on the thing is what I'm trying to figure out. I think cuz there's like three fingers that show perfectly in the back of her neck. So, I'm trying to figure out if it's some jacket or what, >> obviously. And it's it's done swollen even more since we got here. She's got blood constantly coming out her nose. She keeps wiping it before I can get a picture, but she's got coming out. That's dry blood on her lips. Her lip right there in the middle is busted. >> You remember him, don't you? >> Yeah. She's got marks and be offensive ears and on her hands or not. And you can see the P marks. >> Yeah. >> What you looking like? >> Battery for the other. But >> you don't think you spraying axol? >> That's what I thought investigator about. Cuz the thing is if it's just jacket if it cuz they're constant in the actual jacket is what? >> What was the intent? >> The intent was to smack to the ground. I don't think the intent to say it was the but then the fingerprints on the back of her neck. He mounted her and then proceeded to steal.
