Bang out. Bang out. Bang out. >> 10 years of being a cop. I have never seen a 2-year-old in a back of a car and her parents are smoking with her. >> We're going to get coming out here. Boo boo. >> Sometimes children aren't challenged [music] by the world, but by the adults around them. >> A misunderstanding is one maybe two items, not 23. >> Jamie just came up and just got her feet and her out and said that she's [music] not doing this today. >> How stupid can you be? >> You're right. >> That is insane. Hey, six events, six different situations, but the common thread is adults overstep boundaries, school staff or authorities step in, and [music] children end up in the middle. Children with autism need patience and respect, but in this classroom, a single wrong decision by the teacher created tension and concern. >> She by Jamie grabbed his ankles and pulled him off the table. On February 24th, 2023, school administrators contacted local authorities regarding concerns about classroom management in a classroom for children with autism or special needs. Officers quickly arrived to gather information from witnesses. >> So yesterday, officer I'm exhausted. I haven't slept. My mother-in-law is having an open heart right now. Not looking good. So I'm >> sorry. I don't mean to. >> It's been a rough day. No, this already happened and I want it taken care of. So yeah, >> after the hall check, we were debriefing yesterday just about everything, stuff that we thought we could do better, questions we had for you, different things. And that's when my team told me, "Hey, just so you know, Jamie's by their ankles." Are you talking about by their ankles? That's when they told me that she off table by his ankle. >> They say like how they were seated in there or they were like standing. >> She was sitting in the cabinet like this crossed and knowing he was laying on the table. get my guess. I didn't see either of them. >> Can you just kind of give me a synopsis of kind of what you saw, what you what you heard kind of the situation here? >> So, Tuesday was laying on the table and she grabbed him by Jamie grabbed his ankles and pulled him off the table. And I mean thankfully he like stood up when he was getting pulled off the table so he didn't fall or anything. Um but pulled him off the table and then yesterday she was talking about how she was just done. Her fuse is short. She just wants to quit and pretty much says that you know we can get put in the crossfire pretty much of getting bit or hit or whatever and she's just done with it cuz she had just gotten bit and she grabbed him like we were getting ready to I don't even remember what we were transitioning into but she just like kind of went up grabbed him by one hand and just like pulled him off and I was like like under his like right here on his arm and I was like it's like that like just you just don't like I don't even own kids like that. >> So is getting on the table is that kind of a regular thing for him like a typical behavior? It tends it sometimes it is, but like I was working with him and trying to get him off cuz he does really well with like if you just say it's time to get off the table and like if you talk with him and just like put your hands out, he'll put his hands on him and then like he'll climb off the table. But I was working with him and she was just like no. And like just grabbed him off and I was like okay. >> Really? That that happened out of frustration? >> Yeah. >> Did he have any injuries or anything? Did you check on him? >> Not that I could see. >> Okay. How about on the arm? >> Um not that I could see. But yeah, she just like grabbed him by the arm and like pulled him just like with one like if I help him down like I grab them by their side. like I just like put my hands here so they I make sure like they mostly put themselves like down but I like help them down but she just like went just onehanded grabbed them off and like pulled them off and I was like >> and so you're gesturing like kind of by like the tricep area. So okay can you just kind of give me kind of an overview of kind of what you saw or what's going on? No, I believe it was it was either Tuesday or Wednesday of last week was in one of like our cabinets down at the bottom underneath the sink and I was talking to her to get her out. Nonverbal, so it's hard to communicate really with her. So, you just have to like really like keep going and keep saying things while Jamie just came up and just by her feet and her out and said that she's not doing this today as I was the one doing it. So, she like just took over. And I went and told Caroline right after that all happened and then was on the table laying down and she him off by his feet. >> And it was this on the same day. >> No, it was two different times. And then she also has underneath her arm and like pulled him away cuz he was trying to get on the table like just really aggressively like pulled him by his arm. Something that I think is just inappropriate, I guess. Child. She just has made statements like she's going to blow her fuse. Like she's going to lose it on these kids. That we need a handle. If she's not going to do it, she's going to lose it. We don't really do anything like physical kids unless they're someone or they're themselves, but they weren't. He wasn't doing any of that. >> After reviewing the information and speaking with staff, authorities met with the teacher. She explained that her actions were intended [music] to maintain a calm learning environment and she believed her approach was safe. Her name on it. >> Hello. Call please. Hi. >> Hi. >> I'm here uh Jamie. >> Uh she's lying down right now. Oh, okay. Yeah. >> Give me one moment. >> Sure. Can I ask what this is about? >> I need to talk to her about an incident that occurred at the school. >> Gotcha. Thank you. Uh, I just want to talk to you about the incident that's been going on at Van Beerren. Before I speak with you, I just want to give you read your random warning. >> You have the right to remain silent. Enties say, can, and will be used against you in the court of law. You have a right to an attorney before and or during questioning. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions or make any statement. Do you understand each of these rights I have explained to you? Having these rights in mind, do you wish to talk to me? >> Am I under arrest or anything or >> I'm reading your Miranda? Did you understand him and do you wish to talk to me? >> No. >> You don't know? Am >> I under arrest or what's >> So I just need to talk to you get your side of the story [music] is why I wanted to speak with you. So this is about uh we got two students at the school and it looks like we got witnesses as seen it. So I know you spoke with the principal. Okay. Is there anything you'd like to add? >> And I spoke with my supervisor too afterwards. >> So it looks like there's a couple there's a few witnesses here. Uh, looks like on February 21st, uh, witness said they seen you pull table by his [music] ankle. Kind of like a dragging motion, like dragging him off. What about Do you know who? >> Yeah. Could you describe him to me? >> Tiny guy. >> Yeah. Ethnicity, white, [music] Hispanic, >> Hispanic. >> Hispanic. Okay. So, what is your role in the in the class? >> To assist with running goals and behavior. >> Okay. Uh, how do you deal with behavior >> in that room? cuz it's different with all of them. But that room's kind of chaotic. >> Kind of chaotic. Okay. >> Majority of the kids are constantly [music] on the tables, constantly on the counter. Oftent times I find myself being the only one going and getting them off the tables. They're verbally or having to wrap my arm around their waist and bring them down. >> Where's the your policies or the way [music] you're supposed to handle those? Like is it just they're not listening? How does that look like? Our first concern is the safety. >> And to me, being on a counter or tabletop is not being safe. So, if they're not going to come down, I help them by picking them up and bringing them down. >> And how do you help them? Could you demonstrate how you would do that? I >> usually just wrap my arms around their waist underneath their arms, >> pick them up, and then set them back down on the floor. >> Is there any other staff there around you that Okay. Why would witnesses [music] mention that they've seen you getting frustrated? I know it gets frustrating. You know, I'm also I work with kids. I'm a school resource [music] officer. this officer, school resource officer. Sometimes it gets hectic when you get stressed out. How do you feel with work? Is it stressful? Is it fun? >> I love my job. >> Um, but since I've been in down here [music] and I have found it very frustrating >> cuz often times I feel like I'm the only one addressing the kids. I'm the only one working with them while the others are sitting around the main desk talking. Since I've been there, there is no structure there. They just come in and do what they want and play all day. >> Right. Have you ever missed them that you were just like ready to quit? to me. >> Yesterday I did get over frustrated after I had helped one kid down off of the counter. He turned around and bit me. And then another time he got frustrated, came up ahead and hugged me and bit me again. Another kid was agitated and [music] had run out of class. Two other staff went and got him, brought him back. He was [music] still agitated and just running and and I was standing in the bathroom blocking the shelves cuz he was wanting to tear all everything down off the shelves. And when he couldn't get to the shelves, he started and then scratched me. They're almost gone, but they're still hecking all the way down. This is the only part where he kind of broke the skin. >> And so, >> and so I got over frustrated. I mean, it's just like, >> what kind of kids are you dealing with? >> Majority of them are non-verbal, low functioning. There's a couple that are higher functioning and still way beyond. >> You address it with staff that, hey, this is they're being physical, correct? Like your princ the principal or your boss. >> Yeah. Yesterday I had expressed my frustration cuz all those physical things had happened to me and >> it's a lot to handle. >> That is >> when you're getting you get frustrated, you know, >> right? And how do you how do you deal with your frustration? >> I tend to kind of joke around after I've kind of taken a breather and step back. I kind of joke around. >> So I want to share with you've been you've been explaining these before. Maybe not all of them, but I want to let you kind of know what some witnesses were mentioning cuz I wasn't there. Looks like on February 21st, uh, this witness observed yourself pull the table by his ankles. I overheard Jamie to get off the table and when I looked over, he was laying on his stomach. She grabbed him by his ankles, pulled them off like how you would drag someone by their ankles if they were on the floor. Have you ever grabbed physically? >> If I couldn't get to up here around the waist, you know, like right here to kind of bring them to me so I could lift them appropriately. I've never any kid by their ankles. Okay. And someone could perceive the dragon be differently maybe like was he on there? You said you grab him by the waist. Did you not drag him and or did you grab him somehow to get off? How did you get him off? >> He was already on his stomach and I grabbed right here to kind of just bring him closer so I can get under his arms and lift him back up. >> So you grabbed him from waist. >> Yeah. >> And one hand, two hands. >> Two. >> Two hands. Okay. Um did [music] you gently or forcefully How did you grab him? >> It's gently. It's never forcefully. I have another witness and they stated [music] they believe it was Tuesday was laying on the table when she went up and him by the [music] ankles. So another person said ankles to get him off the table. He was not it was not just situation to do so. Is that [music] like something you guys do if it's if he's on to himself or others where you guys intervene physically? >> Yeah. And >> I'm I'm asking you. I don't know. >> Kind of seeing that my definition of safety is far beyond what theirs is. I don't think being on a table crawling around or standing on it or whatever is safe. especially after last week was one of the tables actually broke when they were doing that. >> Also seen uh Jamie grab him under the arm as he [music] was trying to climb up on the table. Another witness has stated Jamie pul of our kinders [music] off the table by their ankles. This is now three people instead of helping them off the proper way. What is the proper way? >> I'm not quite sure. Apparently their view of it is different than mine. >> But yeah, what is what do [music] they what would they mean by a proper way? What is the proper way to do it? I don't know cuz I don't feel that what I've done is wrong. >> So, how do they do it? How does Have you seen anyone else do it? >> They let it happen. Okay. >> You know, and that's where, you know, I was telling my supervisor today and I often get frustrated cuz they are sitting at the front desk talking and or eating and not paying attention to the kids unless there's something major that they just happen to see out of their corner of their eye. Then they'll yell at them. >> And they can this [music] witness continues to say she grabbed the kids by their arm and not the right way. and she grab off the table. This was uh listed Wednesday, February 22nd. While we were transitioning to our next activity, she grabbed his arm by her hand and took him off the table. Anything you want to add to what the witnesses are saying about angles? >> I don't know where it's coming from. I She had crawled into the cabinet and her back was up against the wall and there's another shelf right on top of her. And I grabbed her legs right here to kind of turn her a little bit so I get up underneath her arms and help her out the rest of the way. I never grabbed her by the ankle. >> And you say you do it by the by the waist, not by the ankles. >> I never grabbed a kid by the ankles. >> This two events that they're they're talking about, you assisted them [music] off table or out of the cabinet. By the waist, not by ankles. Okay. All righty. Well, is there [music] anything else that you feel like you need to tell me or add? Okay. So, I will I'm going to go back to the police department. I'm going to uh let the investigating officer kind of know what's going on. >> After considering all [music] perspectives, authorities made a decision in line with regulations. >> Hi. Hi. How are you looking for Jamie? Hey Jimmy, how you doing? You do have a warrant for your arrest for the battery. So, I'm advising you that you are under arrest. So, if you like to come step out and step out right here, my phone's in my pocket. >> Step right here, Jimmy. Want to face the >> You're under the bed on my side. >> How am I going to get them on you? So, this uh warrant does have a $600 bond. I'm not sure if you guys are in a place to be able to bond her out. And she'll obviously be in the Canyon County Jail. And how soon would that $600 get her out of there? >> Be pretty quick. So I'm not the jail within several hours. She could be out tonight. Okay. >> Or early in the morning. Probably probably more like early morning. >> I've never paid a bond before. I can walk in there with my debit card and pay it. >> So I'm not I don't want to speak for the jail or bail bondsman if you need to go through a bail bondsman. If you want to go through a bail bondsman, typically speaking >> somewhere around the 10% range. Um or you can pay the full $600. >> Yeah, I have $600 cash. I can pay it. I'm just saying do I can I use my debit card there or >> you just have to call the jail. So just give us 20 minutes to get her down there. Call the jail and and ask them what their their payment method is. They might charge you for debit card. I don't know. I'm not sure. >> Okay. So uh I have to uh call the call the jail regular jail number. >> The KY County Jail. >> Yep. And she can call you once she's there. She'll get free calls. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> My first time in C, so I know how to kind of adjust her. It doesn't hurt so much, but I can't with that one. >> Oh, what else have you been arrested for? >> I have quite the record. >> Uh-oh. I now have 14 yards clean. But yeah, they were all charges and >> you're clean though. >> Good. Good for you. Good. That is not that's not easy to do. >> No, I did prison time the whole nine yards. So >> I watch stuff here and watch. >> You need help? No, we're going to go straight. You're totally fine. >> I have a bad hip. >> Don't be sorry me. >> Oh, I go straight over here. L5S1. Is that what you said? >> I have bad back L5S1 also. So I feel your pain. If you want, you can stand totally fine. If you want to, you can have a seat. It's up to you. How much time did you end up doing total? >> I did in prison I did two and a half years. >> Wow. Seriously? >> In and out counting for quite a bit before last. So, >> yeah. And it was only charges. >> Yep. >> Wow. How much did you have on you? >> I didn't. I was under the influence. They had been watching us for a while, but because I had already had prior in another state, they were done and they sentenced. >> Wow. So, you'd already had prior and then they had you under the influence of they just probate. Like you were on the probation or something or what? >> Yeah, >> you had time over your head. >> Yeah, I had more out of Oregon, out of county. >> The judge gave me the full deal. Two and a half years. >> Hi there. >> Good afternoon. >> Good afternoon. All right, I'm going to go to Temp and ask you some medical questions. >> The behavior interventionist was charged with suspicion of a misdemeanor. Under Texas law, she [music] could face a maximum penalty of one year in prison and a $4,000 fine. Pressure in a special education classroom can lead to mistakes. Therefore, it is essential to provide teachers with training on handling stressful situations [music] and interacting appropriately with children with special needs. Inside an ordinarylook RV, a story involving children, animals, and hidden concerns unfolded, prompting timely intervention from authorities. I'm >> not no dog. >> I wasn't treating you LIKE >> YES, YOU ARE. LOOK HOW YOU GOT ME. I WAS TREATING YOU LIKE A DOG. On March 4th, [music] 2025, detectives from the Flaggler County Sheriff's Office and the Putnham County SWAT team executed a search related to regulatory concerns at a property with multiple RVs and a modular home. During the operation, they discovered unsafe living conditions, including a child and two dogs, highlighting the need for immediate attention. >> Spots on the move. Let's go. Let's go. Let's go. This is cutting my blood circulation off. >> The only way to loosen those is to cut them off. You can't loosen. >> Well, cut them off and put A NEW SET ON. I'M NOT ARRESTED. YOU'RE DETAINED. >> So that doesn't give you a right to put me in handcuffs. >> Yes, it does. >> No, it does not. >> I'm not going to argue with you. >> You want to argue? I'm going to ARGUE IN COURT. I KNOW WHAT THE definition is between being handcuffed. I've been arrested plenty of times. >> That's what court's for. >> Yeah, that's what court's for, right? So I can sue you individually. Each one of you, please. >> Go for it. >> I will. If I had a dollar for every time I heard that, I'd be rich. >> Yeah. Yeah. >> I better not do nothing to my dog. At first I thought somebody was somebody else in the crowd. >> I thought somebody shoot somebody. >> I know they're lucky. You guys can't go up people's property like that. We're going to get coming out here. Boo boo. >> I mean come on now. You don't identify yourself with police first before you shoot. >> That's what the announcements are for. >> No, that's what you say. You say you're a police officer. >> I'm not going to argue with you. >> You don't have to argue. You don't tell me I can't talk. This is America. >> We can. I'm not. I'm just saying. >> Okay, just stop talking. Tell me to stop talking. You think I'm not supposed to be pissed because of how y'all treat people? >> Did I say that? >> Nobody say that. >> Yeah, I know. Y'all funny guys. Y'all must be new. >> No. >> Treat people likeing animals instead of people. Not everybody here. Not everybody's a drug dealer. >> That's why everybody >> Well, that's why you understand that. That's why you had me like this. Throwing your telling me to shut up. And when I didn't shut up, you put your knee in my back. I didn't do that so I can't answer that. >> Well, whoever did ask Hey, that's I didn't do that. >> Don't tell people to shut up and throw them down the ground, put their knee back, but they didn't do nothing. I was complying with you guys. >> And I listen, I apologize. I was not there, so I can't speak on that behalf. Okay, >> I was over here. So, I don't know what happened over there. >> Got a headache out in the world, man. He continued to complicate the situation by asking for adjustments and asserting his rights, reacting strongly when past interactions with authorities were mentioned. >> Been sick and that's what I got to deal with. >> I don't know what I just told you. >> Yeah, that's looking that one. That's the one they all they left. They're gone. Y'all made it two days too late. Good one. I don't even know those people. God, my wrist is early, dude. You can't loosen them. You can't put a new one on. I mean, come on now. You can't put a new one on. Ow. Ow. >> Anyway, you can rotate this into like >> I can't I can't rotate it there. I can't rotate it. Man, >> you got you got wonder so >> I'm going to I'm going to put looser ones on. Okay. >> Okay. >> Just got to give us a second here. >> Hey, I tell this to everybody. It's not just you. I'm going to take these off. Don't do anything stupid. Okay. >> Okay. I know. I don't got nothing to reason to do. >> Here. You stand up so we can do it. Please. >> We're trying to be respectful. >> We're going to use scissors. So, don't jerk around. I don't want you to cut yourself. I know. It's good for a second. me. >> Hold on. Just keep it down to your side right here. Okay. >> Yeah. We're We're going >> All right. Back your palms together. >> Can you put them in the front? I mean, come on. I ain't going nowhere. >> Look at all y'all. >> I mean, look at that, dude. >> I know. Hey, I I didn't put them on there. I'm changing them out so they're not so tough. Okay, >> look at that. Look at all body cam. Look how tight that is. >> Let me see. >> I'm fine. Complaint. >> All right, >> come on now. Treat me like a human being. >> That's what we're doing. We don't do this for anybody else. >> I don't care. You treat everyone like human beings. We're not dogs. >> We didn't put them on. >> Somebody did. We only crew. >> None of us did. >> I ain't going nowhere. It's fine. I'm not going nowhere. Look at all y'all. Can't go nowhere anyways. >> Why so angry? I'm angry because this how y'all treat people, man. Treat them like human beings, not dog. >> You are being treated like a human. >> No, I'm being treated like a dog. If I was to go run down a cow, that's how I'd treat it. >> I don't think anyone feel Come on, dude. I don't need to hear it. >> I don't need to hear you right now. >> Well, that's too too bad. That's the Constitution of the United States. I'm allowed to talk. YOU, ON THE OTHER HAND, can shut up and be QUIET BECAUSE THAT'S YOUR POLICY. >> I don't think it is. >> No, it's your policy to be professional. It's not mine. >> No, y'all not, man. Look at I got proof. >> You're being very courteous. I think so. >> Now you are and I appreciate that that you're not treating me like a dog now. >> Anything else? >> If I would like to comment, I can. Is that a problem for you? Do you not like people American citizens speaking as they will? >> Is that a problem for you? It sure seems like one, sir. >> I think you have a problem, sir. >> Yeah, I got a problem with the authority that doesn't obey the authority. you, every one of you obeyed every traffic law and every law that was out there, I'd have respect for you. >> I know who you are. >> Yeah, you know who you >> Yeah. >> I don't have respect. Don't respect the same law. Are you the one that pulled me over speeding? Cuz you look like it. >> Yeah, it was you. How fast were you going that day? 45 60 and a 35 to catch me doing what? You said 41. I'm doing 41. I'm doing 38. No, he's a liar. That cop right there don't even deal. >> He's got a lot of >> Yeah. >> And what happened with that? What the judge say about that? What the judge say, sir? >> Shouldn't even been in the courtroom. >> When officers determined it was necessary to detain him temporarily, he insisted that he had not done anything wrong. >> What's going on? >> Nothing. >> Why you all screwing up you guys? >> Because I'm allowed. If you guys don't like it, then maybe you shouldn't be here. Cuz I didn't do nothing. This is part of the reason because I was complying said come back with your hands up and I'm complying and because they don't want me to talk when I can't even hear their commands cuz they're boom boom boom. I'm coming back with my hands back. They down throw a knee in my back and tighten these things so tight I can barely even my was being cut off. What you expect me to BE HAPPY ABOUT THAT? >> I expect >> Well, there you go. That's your godamn reasoning. >> What are you expecting to get done by yelling at? >> I don't give a I don't get I can't get nothing done. I can't move. But guess what? You ain't going to tell me to shut up. Be quiet because that's my constitutional right. >> Okay. So, I don't really give you know what it is that you're screaming about. >> I told you what I'm screaming about. I told them several times. Look at that. >> You think you're the only one here? You got children here. >> MY DAUGHTER'S SEEN HOW EXACTLY HOW YOU GUYS OPERATE. She ain't going to like it either. She's scared to death because of you guys. I mean, >> look. Look. Are you all yelling? >> Yeah. I mean, I don't need to see the search warrant. I just wanted them to read. >> I wanted to know what you guys were here for. That's what that is right here. Search >> warrant. >> But who for? >> Everybody. >> The property. >> Why? >> Because you guys use and deal out. >> Not us. >> The you guys don't. >> Oh wow. >> You hear that, Mr. Max? We don't do deal. I work for you. >> Who? >> EVERYBODY. >> NO, THEY DON'T. >> OKAY. >> We do not deal at all. Some other people. >> Well, we don't use them. >> Huh? >> So you use them? >> I SMOKE POT. >> THERE WE GO. >> DUDE, who you going to take me? Just turn around for me really quick. >> Are you able to spread your feet apart a little bit? All right. Just like that. Perfect. >> Are we going to be able to have a cigarette? >> He's got to read you some paperwork first. Okay. Let's get that finished with and then we'll see what we can do to facilitate some of that. All right. But I'm not making any promises. >> Okay. Oh, I didn't know I had that. >> I didn't know I had that. >> That's crazy. I don't know why we're here. >> Well, >> hey, ma'am. Do me a favor and keep facing forward. Okay, you'll have your opportunity to talk to it. Don't Don't >> Well, I I thought he was trying to say something to me. >> Sorry. >> Okay, that's fine. Do you have anything else on you cuz I already asked? >> I didn't know those were in these drawers cuz these ain't even mine. >> Do you have any Do you have anything else on you? >> Not that I'm aware of. >> Okay. Again, I don't want to get poked or stickked by anything. I don't need these. >> All right, do me a favor. Lift your arms up. >> Oh, >> just making sure you don't have them. >> Huh? >> Yeah, >> it's underwear. >> That's fine. >> Please stop. >> Well, you're going up a coo. >> Do you have anything stuck in your underwear? >> All right. Do me a favor. Sit down. >> All right. For a second and anything you say, maybe it's evidence against you. You have the right to talk to an attorney. You have any idea on you at all for anything? >> I just want this. That's all. Okay. What didn't went through? Because the lady she was telling me and then I don't know because I put everything on the thing to scan. Can I just I could pay what didn't go through and I didn't understand. >> You have the video what she was doing. >> That's what I'm going to go get you ready. >> Okay. >> Cuz we start these two things here. You have her ID. Yeah. Wait for that. >> I'm not even sure what that card is. >> Neither. I think it's something. >> It's got a chip like it's a debit card of some sort. >> This card is property of the national insurance. I'm well. I'm kind of I guess behind this ID. >> Yeah. National insurance board. Someone has an insurance card. >> All that. That's a lady. She's Well, I guess she's the one holding her kids. Technically, she could have called for too. You witnessed it. Is that the juvenile y talking about? >> No. >> Juvenile over here somewhere. >> She's Yeah, she's in the back of the the stroke. I don't know. >> How long is she there with >> Yeah, I know. I have no idea. I got a call telling me that somebody was doing something at 11:00. So, I got there a little after 12 something 12:30 something. So, I didn't see this lady there to come up on the receipt. So, I didn't get scared. >> Did they even have that in the >> No, cart. She just left that laying there. just n I'm sure she ain't even lay in there cuz there's nothing left there. But we'll double check. >> She buy a separate check. >> Okay. So once there's three items in there. >> No, I scan one of them. >> Okay, let's find out. One. >> I scan them. >> Two. Was it third? >> There was two. That was a pants and a shirt and a pond. >> There's one that's blue, there's one that's gray, and then there's one that's white. >> You know, the white pants go with the gray with the gray bottom. And then the gray. That's a gray pond. That's a gray pond for me. >> All right, that's the one we paused. Where did these Takis just come from? Who just threw those there? >> No, they wasn't mad. The Jews, all that. They was not mad. >> The other kids or something. I don't know. >> Somebody's messing with this a toy. >> No, she cashed them on her bill. They still get cash on a different bill. Oh. Go beyond that. You had an opportunity to pay it when you're at the registration candidate for Michigan. >> I pay for everything. I I say the box and all the things keep popping up. I didn't understand why >> you're buying this nice stuff right now. Get right there again. Is there three hangers there? >> Right there. Three. >> There's three hangers, but it's like two outfits on one hanger. That's what I'm trying to say. >> There's three outfits there. >> No, they like doubles. They're like double hangers. Like they are outfit and the pods on one hanger. >> Put three items together and we scam two. >> No, I I scan the pot and they go together, right? >> Number one, it is more. >> Look like she's scanning the same thing twice. >> No, they're different. They're different stuff. That one is different, but there's still there's still four pieces in there. >> Yeah. >> The mother repeatedly mentioned that she was in a hurry and had two small children, and she offered several times to correct the situation. However, camera footage showed her bypassing some procedures and instructing her children to do the same, which could send the wrong ethical message to young observers. >> Misunderstanding. >> I had a I know. >> A misunderstanding is one maybe two items, not 23. $211 worth. That's not a misunderstanding. That is called theft. >> See what happen is when I hold it up, I just scan it like whatever I see the tag or I just scan it like that. The woman was helping me, but I don't have a problem paying for it. I'm not that type of person. I I don't get no trouble. You all run my name. I don't get no trouble at all. >> That's that's what everybody says when they get caught stealing. >> You run my name, right? You run the name. I I don't get no time for everything. >> It just was a misunder intentional. Now a misunderstanding is one or two items, not 23. >> Officer, not $21. I just I got two small kits. Officer, please just let me just pay for it, please. >> You had that opportunity when you were doing the selfch checkout. That was your opportunity to scan and pay for the item. >> I told you going through I didn't I didn't mean to do what would happen. Please, I can I just pay, please. I have two small children. Please officer, please. Like it it wasn't nothing. I just on vacation. It just wasn't nothing. It was just a mistake. >> When are you leaving? I'm leaving um on Friday. It's just a mistake. Officer, just please. I have two small kids. Please, I'm not from moving here. >> Just because you're not from here doesn't mean that you steal. >> No, I'm not stealing off. >> You didn't steal. You didn't scan those item. Can you >> No problem. Like where I was rushing cuz my cousin keep calling. You see I was on the phone. My cousin keep calling. I was trying to scan everything like it wasn't it wasn't intentional. Officer, please can I just pay for the missed items? Please. >> You had that opportunity for beyond that. Officer, it wasn't it was just a misunderstanding. I didn't >> It's not a misunderstanding. >> Officer, please. I have two small kids. Please. >> You should have thought about that. >> It wasn't intentional. >> Yes, it is very intentional. Watching it was very intentional. >> I was on the phone. My cousin keep asking very well. I was trying to have cash and some of the stuff probably just get missed. Can I just pay for it? >> Like Fernandez, you can do anything. >> I just want to pay for it, please. Can I just talk to my cousin right outside? >> No. Authorities confirmed that this was a deliberate oversight of the proper checkout process, highlighting the importance of following rules even in busy situations. >> Oh, they're still at the store. You just I don't know one of your family members. Just want to know how long it's going to be. That's all. >> Just go ahead and stand up. >> Go ahead and stand up. Don't make me yank you up. Stand up. >> Officer, like I say, I'm not a problem for us. Please do not pay for it. >> So, they don't want that. They want to pursue charges. Press charges. So, you're going to go to jail. You could be released today, but your family members have to go to the jail and get you out. Okay. >> Please don't press on me, please. >> Oh, don't move. We're not ready to go just yet. >> Can I get my ID before I leave it? >> I have your ID. Stand still. >> Please guys, just give me kiss and press charges. Please, I will pay for it. I'm very sorry. I have two kids. >> Please guys, mom, I already told you that we cannot go back once you're here. You pass point of sales. We cannot >> I didn't I didn't mean to. I just thought I didn't get cash. >> I thought I didn't get cash on one thing. >> Oh, it comes out here. >> You copy and paste. >> Yeah. So, what I'm going to try to do right now and let's see if it lends me sometimes. >> I thought I didn't get cash on one thing. >> What I have to do? >> So, Walmart because it's so much like $250. They want to press charges for death. So, if they want to press charges, you have to arrest her. Okay? because she doesn't live within our county. She lives far away. For example, if she lived in Orlando, she still would still have to go to jail. Our policy, we have to take her to jail. She could be released. You just got to go to the jail and get her out. Okay. >> Yes, we do. >> So, yeah. >> It's about 45 minutes. I could give you the address. Where yall staying at? Y'all staying in Orlando? >> Yeah. >> From last night. >> From last night. >> Yeah. >> My god. >> I don't Y'all from the Bahamas? >> Yeah. >> So, I don't know how it is in the Bahamas. When you go to jail, you had to pay to get them out. That's how it is here. >> You have to pay. >> Yeah. If she doesn't pay, then she has to stay to jail until she until tomorrow judge. >> You have to wait for a judge. >> Yeah. >> What? So, how much you have to pay? >> $500. That's to get her out of jail. >> How she going to pay that money? That's like I told her she was saving this trip from there. So, I don't understand why she >> a lot of people that come steal from Walmart here, they always have a lot of money on. I don't know why they don't pay. So, you're going to be going to jail for retail petty theft. You will have a $500 bond. Means after you're booked in, you have the opportunity to bond out $500. You can either pay $500 cash or you can get with the bondsman. And they do typically do two uh 10% >> family has something. >> So, it' be nothing less than $100 with the bonds. Could be more, could be less. >> So, what about this? Um, your family is here to give you the items you pay. >> One of my items I didn't get because I like cash. >> No, that's the stuff you paid for. The stuff that you paid for. Oh, something didn't get cash. Um, my fault. I paid for everything. >> Oh, you paid for everything on that receipt. >> You want a return? You want to give it to the your family? The items you pay? >> I pay in card so I can return it, right? >> You can. >> Just let me know. You want to give it to your family or the return? I'm not this type of person. I live in Bahama. >> From what I saw, you are a thief. I just watched you steal. >> The I don't get no problems, nothing like that. So, the items that you paid for this receipt right here, which is the items behind you, do you want to leave it with whoever you came with, or you want us to return it to the card that this was purchased on? >> Those are your items. >> I will I will pay for this though because I be on that items. >> Where do you want those to go? You want them so they go your family members? >> You stole what I want. >> No, we're not worried about what you stole. You're not paying for what you stole. >> My bad. >> You paid for it. Yeah, it >> Yeah, we're going there now. So, you could go there or drop things off. We're It's about 45 minutes to an hour drive. >> The mother was charged with retail theft as she did not reside in the county. Police required a $500 bond for her release. Teaching children honesty, responsibility, and respect for procedures is more important than immediate convenience. Learning to admit mistakes, [music] take responsibility, and make amends is a vital life lesson for both adults and children. Reckless actions today can lead to difficult consequences tomorrow. And this story serves as a cautionary tale for all parents. >> But I want the next half hour to be absolutely hell for you. >> On February 25th, [music] 2025, Hamilton County, Indiana police stopped a vehicle for not signaling. Upon approaching, they found two adults traveling with a child and several items that did not comply with safety or legal guidelines, creating a tense situation. >> Hey there. Good evening. Hey broke. >> No, you're you're good. You go ahead. Hey, my name's Deputy McDade, Hamilton County Sheriff's Office. In this state, you are being audio to record. I'm well, thank you. The reason why I stopped this though, you used to use your turn signal coming in, but when you made your left hand change, you forgot to use your turn signal there. Okay. >> Where have you come from tonight? You've been working or >> uh No, we were coming to get dinner in. >> Are you with uh Young? >> Yes. This is my friend. And that's my daughter back there. >> Is this your vehicle? >> Yeah. >> Do you have your registration as well? >> Plug box. >> What type of pills do you have in there? Is that prescription there? >> Yeah, those are hers. >> Okay. Okay. We'll grab that in a moment if you guys don't mind stepping out of the vehicle at the moment. What's in the vehicle? That shouldn't be mind stepping out of the vehicle for me, please. The back of my vehicle for me. >> Leave everything in the car for me. Thank you. Is your kid? >> No, that's >> okay. Keep your hands out your pockets. Step back here for me. >> Hang on. We'll explain everything. Do you have anything on this? Going to h yourself? No. >> You mind me patting you down for anything? No, anything like that. Just come back in front of my vehicle for me. >> My daughter, I don't want to go too far. Stay right here. I just want to keep >> Just going to make sure I'm going to pat down. Okay. Just make sure. All right. I appreciate you have some keys in my pocket. >> Yeah, that that's fine. Hang out there for a second. Okay. Pay attention to me. Okay. This is going to read a Miranda warning. Okay. Do you understand these rights? >> Yes. With these rods in mind, do you want to answer any questions? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Good. Put her in handcuffs. You two. >> Wait, what? >> Hands behind your back. Who can come pick up your kid? >> I have to pop someone. >> Okay. >> Why are we going to arrest him? >> We'll tell you. You're I get it. It's legal in almost all the states. We're not out here being the police, but we can smell it a mile away. And as we get up closer to your car, you put it out right beside us. You have an infant in your car. Do you understand that? How stupid can you be? >> You're right. >> That is insane. The amount of disappointment in you right now is through the roof for me right now, including you. That you let her do it or if you were doing it yourself. What do you think a judge or a jury was going to think about? How old are you? >> 29. >> How do you feel about a judge or a jury and we put charges against you for smoking in front of a 2-year-old? How do you think they're going to feel about that? >> Not well. Can I call? >> No, you can't call anyone. Stop talking. I'm talking. This is insanity. 10 years of being a cop, I have never seen a 2-year-old in a back of a car and her parents are smoking with her. >> You're right. >> Who can come pick up your kid? >> My sister. Her boyfriend. I'll have to come if they're available on >> Where they live? >> In Anderson. My phone. I don't have their phone numbers memorized. >> Is this something you do every day? >> No, sir. I don't typically snip around her. >> Were you smoking in front of her? >> No. >> I've seen a lot of up, but smoking in front of a 2-year-old with the windows up, stupid. I'm going to walk away for a second. I can't even do my job because your daughter's in you're in the handcuffs. You don't seem upset. >> I'm very upset, sir. I >> can't even do my job right because her parent can't come get her. How am I supposed to search your car when there's a 2-year-old in the in in in the back of the car? >> Sir, I need to call her. I need to call >> on the roadside. A lesson in adult responsibility began. The mother, realizing the seriousness of the situation, apologized sincerely. Mommy's so sorry. >> This is your phone? >> Yes, sir. >> Yeah. And who? Okay, we're going to organize someone to come pick her up. Okay. Okay, >> Jessica, >> what >> is John home? [clears throat] >> I just really need you to come get her. I'm going to jail. >> How far? >> I would say probably 30 to 35 minutes. >> You guys have a protective order? >> Yeah, it's complicated, sir. >> Are you guys a couple or what? >> Not currently. I'm currently pending charges for a battery >> against her. >> Yes, sir. >> Who's the protected party? >> She is. >> How is your daughter? >> I love you. Mom, he's so sorry. >> Honest to God, I think this is going to be the worst punishment you can get other than uh what I mean, whatever the judge gives you, that's whatever. But I want the next half hour to be absolutely hell for you knowing that you're >> I I Well, that's where I want it at if I'm being honest with you. It's like a It's like a movie. You're standing out in the rain handcuffed due to your actions. >> I'm so sorry. Oh my god. I ruined her life. I thought I up when I got the battery charge. I've reallyed up now. She doesn't deserve this. She didn't ask be here. >> Is this your first kid? >> It's my only kid. >> Here's the deal. You made a mistake tonight and the first thing that you did was you already know that you made a mistake. That's the first thing of becoming a better person is you know you made a mistake. >> You have no idea, sir. >> No, I have an idea. You made a mistake. You realize you made a mistake. >> Her dad's going to take her from me. >> Maybe for a year, 6 months, 4 months. You got to step up. My mom raised me. I didn't have a dad. >> She's the best thing that's ever happened. >> Well, you got to treat her like that from here on out. >> I'm going to jail for a long time, sir. >> No, you're not. You'll probably be out by the end of the night. >> I violated a protective order, sir. >> Well, Madison County is not going to know that until a week from now. >> And then I'm going to jail again. >> If they revoke your bond, >> it was my own bond. I was on the wire. >> Okay. If they revoke your PTR, >> she's not going to get punished for breaking the protective order, right? >> There's no Indiana laws that she broke. >> I didn't think so. I was trying to make sure. I don't want her to get in trouble for that. >> The protection order has been served. So, they're not supposed to be hanging out. >> So, she protected the protective respondent. >> Violating what? >> Yes. It'll be invasion of privacy. >> Invasion of privacy plus whatever you got in the car. >> Yeah. In there. >> I promise I'm not trying to run away. I'm just really cold. So, I'm trying to keep my body moving. >> No, I get it. I'm not doubting anyone's physical abilities, but you are in handcuffs and I'm not. >> Yeah, I'm trust me. I'm not that physically capable. I'm just really freaking cold. >> As you know, you try to run away most likely a felony charge on top. >> Yeah. I'm not my brother. Let's not do that. No, I'm good. >> How'd you find the adjustment from having no kids to having a kid? Was it tough? >> Yeah, it was not easy. Thankfully, I was living with my sister at the time, so help me a little bit. We moved out when she was 4 months old, though. It was a lot to handle by myself, to be honest. I wouldn't change a single thing. I'm so sorry, baby. I love you. What's today? >> Today's Saturday. >> Oh, so we just need until at least Monday. >> 15. Who says you're going? Sang out for a sec. We'll let you know everything in the moment. >> My daughter is about to leave my site. I don't think you understand that that doesn't happen unless I work. I am stressed. >> I'm going to ask you one time. Okay. Is there anything illegal in this car? >> Yes, sir. >> Like I told you from the beginning, I was pretty pissed off at you. I've calmed down. Okay. The first thing that we need you to do is understand that you made a mistake, right? And you already did that for us. >> A very dumb mistake. I don't want to ruin your life. >> No, I know. You didn't ruin anyone's life. Let me tell you this. You're on the right track. And honesty goes a long way with us. Okay. >> The next few minutes were a tense moment of honesty and accountability. [music] Under guidance from officers, the mother admitted that some items in the car were not compliant with regulations. Now's the time to tell me what's illegal inside this car. Cuz I am not going to waste his time and I'm not going to waste my time. What's illegal inside the car? Sir, >> I'm so scared. I'm going to go to jail. >> I'll tell you right now. We're typing up that report tonight. What's going to look better? I just want you to do this. I just want you to picture it. We're typing up that report tonight. Elizabeth, do you go by or Elizabeth? >> Liz. Liz said there was nothing illegal in the car. Just picture that. I take my K9 out of out of the back of my car. As soon as you get done saying that and I put it inside that car and he finds what's going to look better that scenario or Liz said she made a mistake. Liz tells me where I'm going to find them. >> I know you're going to find them. >> Okay. So, go ahead. >> There's in the car. >> Okay. >> And there is in the car. >> Where's the at? >> I cannot attest to that. >> Where would they have been at? >> On Justice first and last I was aware. >> Okay. Let me tell you this. Where were you guys coming from tonight? >> We came from Anderson. >> You were coming from Anderson? >> Yes, sir. >> What way did you take to get here? >> 32. I took I think it's like State Road 38 or something and then 900 West and 32. When you caught us, we were circling back around to go to Apple. >> You know, I've been talking to her. >> Yes, sir. >> Do you want to keep that story? >> Was that the way we came through? >> I'm just asking you a simple question. I've been doing this for a long time. I've been absent from your conversation for probably what 10 15 minutes investigating. Is that the story you want to keep? I'll give you a minute and 30 seconds to decide if that's the story you want to keep and then we'll go from there. Once again, you got to start somewhere. And if you haven't been a very honest person or a very good Well, hold on, please. I'm not calling you not honest. I'm just putting this into your head. If you haven't been a very honest person or a very good person for your entire life, I'm not saying that that you're not. But tonight, I promise you, shall help you God. Tonight is the night you have to let it all out. >> I'm trying to remember what direction we came from. We came from Henderson. >> But where did you go? >> Where did we go? >> Do you know where Apple Bees is at? I do. >> Applebees is right up here. >> Uh-huh. >> We took 37 in. >> 37. >> I know you were on 37 cuz that's where we saw you. Anderson would not have you take 37 to get here. I know it wouldn't. >> No, sir. We came off of 32. I thought that's what I >> 32 is right here. >> Yes, sir. Okay. I thought that was this road. I'm really bad with directions. >> 32 is right here. It would have you off 32 or 38? >> I'm not trying. I GPSed our way here. >> Um, it took us on 32. I thought this was 32. That's why I was pointing over there. We took So, we took 38th Street from Anderson and whatever that leads up to from 900 West up to 32. Once again, I appreciate your honesty. We're starting off right. >> I wasn't trying to be dishonest. >> Let me ask you this. Let me ask you this. In the relationship with us stopping you, how many seconds prior or andor minutes did you know for your girl back there to have the pills on her? To your knowledge, she still has them on her or did you watch her put her in her pant pocket? >> No, she was carrying them during our drive as far as I'm aware. >> I don't know what I'm saying. >> Okay. I didn't ask her to like hold them from me or anything like that's not what's happening. >> We're off to a good start. I like that for you. Didn't Doesn't it feel good to just be honest? >> Yeah. Typically an honest person. I scared when you guys pulled us up. I know you are. >> I'm already in trouble. Me and Justice have a protective I was already >> But hey, I'll tell you what. Do you believe in the upper power? Do you believe in God? >> I I believe that something. Yeah, I believe something. >> He put you in this situation tonight. >> You're right. >> He wants you to be better. >> You're right. >> And him and I are his servants making you better. You know what I Absolutely right. >> Tonight is the last night you around with pills or anything. Tonight, let it be tonight. >> I was already thinking about quitting and it >> this is what you needed because you weren't going to quit without us. >> You're absolutely racing. >> Your your your life was spiraling. >> It is downhill fast. Yep. >> And I'm watching it do it. >> You feel better. I know you're not feeling like good mentally. >> No. >> But it's a start. Pick up that Bible when you go when you when you get when you get to the jail. It's going to be the one of the only things that you're going to get. Start reading tonight and hopefully he gets you better. The first thing you got to do is get off the double. Get off the demons at I know people always say it's legal, but what was the first you ever did in your life? >> Okay, >> sir. I don't typically do. >> I understand. >> I don't want to punish her for more. They're not almost >> But you didn't see her throw them or anything like that before the stop? >> I don't think so, sir. I really don't know where they would be. Um, there is a grinder in the car, too. >> What about the big old >> I don't remember where it was put out. When we spotted you, we had switched hands. She says she wasn't smoking and chill out. >> Okay. So, did you put it out or did she put it out? >> She put it out. I believe maybe somewhere in the car. >> Okay. Now, correct me if I'm wrong. Remind you my car is always recording 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. I want you to realize you're doing the right thing tonight. Hang tight with him. Hopefully, this is one of these cars or you're >> I don't feel like I'm doing the right thing, sir. >> You are. Look at your daughter when you're talking about this. You're doing the right thing. Meanwhile, her companion appeared flustered, trying to manage the situation and explain their own mistakes. >> What's your name? I'm on my 10th year of being a law enforcement officer. Seven of them I didn't. I know that there's something else on you. I want to make something very clear here. I gave you that one opportunity. Remember, where would the be at? I'm going to do something that's kind of unorthodox in policing. I'm going to give you a minute to a minute 30 seconds to get your story straight. Underneath her seat, the driver's seat. Well, she's saying it's on your personal situ. >> Where was the last place you saw him? >> You just dropped him between his seat. I saw you do it. >> No, I didn't. >> You did. >> No, I didn't. >> I saw you drop him between the seat. >> You want? I swear. Okay, you can have him. >> No, wait. I am going to look. Okay. >> Okay. We got a seat belt on. >> Yeah. >> Stand right there. >> There is. So, kind of one thing that we do like we don't really play around a whole lot here. You know what he's doing right now? He's typing a search for your person. We're done playing games. >> I don't have them. Okay. >> I didn't drop anything. Edge of her seat. >> The edge of her seat. >> Her driver's seat. She got two. I got two. >> So, if you didn't drop anything, what was that weird hand movement you did? Right. >> Showing you motion mode where it would be at. >> So, you got two, she's got two. Where's your two? >> In the baggie that she has. Innocent. And if we request charges on you tonight and you go to jail and they're on your person, do you realize that's a level five felony? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Nothing. >> No. >> Okay. That was just a very odd hand movement at that at that second. >> I mean, yes. >> You can search me. I >> But I've already I've already read you hurdle and you said no, you don't want me to. >> I mean, I don't want to be accused of something I don't die. You know what I mean? Like, >> but there's not going to be a difference, right? But if I search you right now and find something versus getting a search warrant and doing a more in-depth search having a female officer. I mean, you've already talked to me about you've had a problem with painkillers. Okay. I've been around people who use too. Okay. You're I get that you're saying that you have the flu perhaps, but people who start getting into products start getting weakly. They get start sickly, especially when they start getting withdrawals, too. So, I have Nice on the card, but I haven't eating. >> So, show me on his driver's seat where it would be right there for me. See where I was like she tucked in somewhere in the seat. >> Where she like where at? You just pointed it >> here. Like that. >> Okay. So like not behind here somewhere but on that side. >> So here. >> I'm not going to find anything on your side. Will you guys split the difference this evening? This is a long 20 minutes. Are we sure they're coming? >> I don't know. You have to ask. >> I'm so sorry, babe. >> I know you won't. Mama, make sure you get a big hug and kiss before we go anywhere. Amid the tension, the mother shared her personal struggles and life pressures. A moment of vulnerability and sincerity. >> Might be a little wet, though. Does she have clothes? >> No, my sister has the key to my house. >> But she's just wearing that until she gets home. >> She's got a coat in there. Two actual coats or the jacket. I'm not irresponsible. >> Then I'm just saying >> obviously I'm irresponsible, but not typically. I'm sitting here up my daughter's life for one. Promise I wouldn't be anything like my parents. And now I'm worse. I was the only person in my family. There's eight of us. There's six kids, two of my mom and dad, my dad's past, whatever. eight of us and I the only one that hadn't been to jail until December. I just keep doing it. I just keep making it worse. And I know that universe is like telling me to stay away from this girl, but she's like the love of my life and it's stupid. >> This one? >> Yes. Now I'm going to go to jail for 3 months to for violating protective order. >> Well, you know, with these stuff, they can be dropped, right, in court, so you have to be patient. But >> March was so far away. >> Not now. Did you have another court day from March? >> April. >> You're like a month and a half away. Not that long. Especially if he's the love of your life. >> Yeah, I think this may have done us in though. Especially since I don't know what she said to that cop. Hi, baby. I'm so sorry, man. I should have left that [ __ ] girl alone. I knew better. >> So, under the Miranda, you understood your rights, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. You want to answer any other questions? >> What you got for me? >> Is that a yes or a no? >> Yes, sir. >> Yes. Okay. So, you know there was a protection order between you two? >> Yes, sir. >> Were you the respondent? Yes, sir. She's a petitioner. >> Yes, sir. >> And did you know you violated that order? Yes, sir. >> Being with her tonight? You're not meant to be around her? >> Yes, sir. While the officers were handling the situation, the mother's relatives took a wrong turn, delaying the process of picking up the baby. >> Hey, Liz, this is a long 20 minutes. Where they at? >> That's what I I was asking if we could call them again cuz there was an exact address. I think he may have gotten confused and lost. Hey, where are you? >> I literally downtown Noville. >> No, we're not in downtown Noville. No, YOU GOT TO COME BACK. >> I'M SORRY. I'm trying my best to get there. I really am. >> We appreciate you, man. Put your head for me. Okay. Love you guys. sleeping there for sick. Best I can do for you. Okay. You're not very flexible. She is saying that you tucked the was in the seat. >> Sir, I did not even have them on the session. They in her cigarette mouth as far as I'm aware. Like I they weren't mine. >> Do you understand? One second. >> I need you to understand. >> No, hold on. Don't talk. One second. This is probably going to be one of the most important steps in the case to prove who these are. So, wherever we find these, she's saying it's in your seat. You're saying it's in the cigarette pack. So, it's going to be very important to where we find these cuz if wherever we find them, whoever story >> she said I put them under the seat. >> Yes, that's what she said. >> They're not even mine. >> I'm not worried about whose is who. >> Investigation. I did not put them under the seat. I didn't have them on my person. I have the I lit a cigarette. She told me she had the that's all I'm aware of. I told you before I could not attest to their location. I sincerely meant that. I have no idea. They're in the fog. I don't know where because I am not the one having it. I know where my grinder is. >> Where's that? >> It's in the crown oil bag in the glove box. I only knew where that was because she we opened it to try to get my registration for you. >> A grinder is not illegal in the state of Indiana. >> No, I know. I'm just saying I don't even know where the I don't know if it's in that bag or not. I didn't have it. She rolled that everything. >> We're going to wait for one more guy to get here. He's going to stay with you and then we're going to get the car rolling. I'm just saying if I find them in your seat, it's they're yours. But according to the state of Indiana, >> should be on. >> Okay. So, you didn't once again you didn't see her do anything prior to that? >> No, I don't know where they are. I She had them. >> Okay. >> Oh my god. Oh my. For not even my dude. What the >> Everything seemed under control until officers checked the car more thoroughly and identified additional items that were not in compliance, keeping the situation on edge. >> This is what I saw right off the rip. >> I saw them. Okay. >> Okay. So, just use that one. And then once you take that out, pour out the drink on the sidewalk. Just make sure there's nothing else in there. >> Nope. >> Passenger side. >> Yeah. >> Where'd you find that? >> Sucked in here. >> Okay. >> So that's passenger side there. Let me pull this forward. >> We're doing good work. >> Hey, this is too you do more as an idea. Is that a girl? >> I don't know. It appears to be. >> Hey, Elizabeth, just you want to listen to me for a sec? >> Yes, sir. >> They said no one told you. Okay. Yeah. They said you are on the arrest for possession of a control substance. Possession of obstructing. Okay. Yeah. Invasion of privacy. My partner saw you trying to put out that the car. So, do you understand what you're being charged with? >> Not the obstructing too much. The invasion of privacy. Yes. >> We'll explain that in a moment. We'll explain that in a moment. Okay. So, if no one's told you, okay, at this stage, you are under arrest of possession of a controlled substance. Possession and Okay. >> You got a 2-year-old in the back of the vehicle. Do you understand what I'm saying? >> She's going to jail as well. You had a a question about the obstruction. >> Yeah. Why are you charging me? >> Because someone thought it'd be a bright idea to try to destroy evidence. Let's just call it how it is. We found a uh inside of your fountain pop. >> That wasn't my fountain pop. It's hers. >> Okay. >> It that was not my sort of >> We'll let the judge and the jury and the prosecutors decide that. I will say this. You do have this going for you. It's one solid charge at this point. Like you don't have like that obstruction same level as basically everything else. a prosecutor or a judge or a defense attorney or something like that can use that as a bargaining tool. But as of right now, I think we have enough for obstruction if they don't decide to charge you with that. It's ultimately it's not up to us. >> All of it is a misdemeanor. >> So you have a level six felony and then some misdemeanors to tack on. But like I said, it's not the end of the world. These charges, I promise you, are not the end of the world for you. >> From your experience, will I do jail time? >> Will you do jail time? This is a u majority of your crimes are a victimless crime. We do have the victim of your daughter tonight. I can't say for certain, but I don't think you have a huge criminal record. Like I said, you have to believe in the big Lord. You got to start reading that Bible. That's going to be the first thing they give you. If you want to be a better person, you got to pick up that holy book. There's going to be nights where it's just you and him. >> At the Hamilton County Jail, we have X-ray machines, body scanners. Everybody goes through them. Okay? So, listen to me. If you have something on you, we're trying to hopefully to get away with it. It's going to eventually be found. whether it be in your pockets or like inside you or anything like that. If you tell us now, yeah, you probably going to get a catch charge for possession of something. If you don't tell us about it and you go through an X-ray machine and it's picked up in the jail, then you're going to get charged with trafficking it into an incarceration area like a prison or jail and you're going to get an even worse charge. So, is there anything on your body that you want to tell us about now? >> No. >> It might be a bowl, but that's >> a bowl. A like a pipe? >> Yes. >> Don't reach for it. Reach for it. >> I don't know. >> So, it's somewhere on you then. >> I think there might be. Well, thank you for tell Is there anything other than the bull? Because like I said, if you bring that into jail, >> you're going to catch a even worse charge. >> No. No. >> I think I don't I don't remember. I don't >> the face vehicle for me. What's in here? >> Is that all you want to tell us? >> Here's the deal. I'm done [ __ ] around with you. I'm going to let him take you to jail and I'm going to let you go through the body scanner. I'm going to let you get a level five felony. Take her. >> If if there's anything illegal on your person, we've given you plenty of opportunity. >> I don't want anything on me. >> You said you had a bowl. >> Oh, I thought I did. >> Okay, we're done. The mother faced charges of violating a protective order, possession of a controlled [music] substance without a prescription, possession of a prohibited substance, lack of a dependent. Meanwhile, the passenger in the vehicle was also implicated with similar charges, including of a dependent, possession of a controlled [music] substance without a prescription, and possession of a prohibited substance. In any encounter with authorities, [music] honesty, admitting mistakes, and cooperating are the first steps toward taking responsibility, practicing safe parenting, [music] and protecting children and those around them. In New Mexico, another mother sparked public outrage, not forment, but for nearly sending all five of her children to their she got an argument with her boyfriend. She went to go pick up kids from a bus stop. >> She go drop them off. >> Went to go drop them off, but the kids are still in the car. She goes back home. >> January 29th, 2025. A fateful morning. Victoria, the mother of five, was accused of driving under the influence and crashing while taking her kids to school. Police rushed to the scene. And there she was, a disoriented mother, mentally unstable, rambling incoherently without logic. >> There's like four kids there. >> Where was any literally live at the end of the corner, man? What the where were I was? >> Ma'am, can you talk to me? >> Can I talk to you now? >> Yeah, you can talk to me. >> Cuz he wasing make me feel like I was >> That was creepy. Like, >> do you want to sit down? >> No, I don't. I want my kids to be okay. >> Okay, we'll get to the We'll get to that, but I'm going to talk to you first. Okay. >> Where are my kids? >> I'll go check on them. But what's your what's your last name? Make sure you're okay, too. >> I don't even know my last name. >> Do you drive this car here? >> No. Or do you know whose vehicle that is yet? >> It's my husband's. >> It's your husband. >> Somebody like I don't want >> Did you Can you tell me a little bit what happened this morning? How did you end up here? >> I woke up and then I was like reversing. I was going back home. >> Where do you live? >> Right here in Nevada Street. >> Okay. So, you just live right down the road. Okay. But your kids stay here or were your kids did Were they babysitting for you? What happened? >> I just came from the bus stop. >> The bus stop. >> What did I do wrong? I'm just asking you questions. That's all I'm doing. I'm just trying to figure out because we were called out. So, I'm just trying to make sure you're okay and different things like that. >> That's That's not what we're trying to do here. We're just trying to get to make sure that you're >> Where's husband >> caning do anything? >> Where's your husband at? >> I was just fighting with him at home. >> So, he's at home. Is [snorts] that why you left him? >> Yes. >> Is that how this happened right here? The eye. Your cut on your eye? I don't even know what the honestly did. What the >> Hey, >> there's somebody in my passenger seat. >> Victoria, focus on me here. Okay. >> I didn't even realize there anybody in the >> Why does that look like mying homie? >> Yes. Just because of a man, she recklessly gambled with her own children's lives. And to make matters worse, she spiraled into a stream of jumbled statements. My husband's car, Melody's girlfriend, and I forgot everything. Victoria, >> can you look in the passenger? >> Yeah, he's looking and there's nobody in there right now. So, can you come this way for me? So, you're telling me that you husband got in a fight? >> Yes. >> And did you go did you come? >> I left my husband. I left my husband. He's literally like around the corner. >> But where did you go when you left? >> I went to go pick up my kids from the the bus stop and we went back home. >> So, how did you end up here? >> I was around theing corner. We literally were coming around the corner. You think we should call supervisor? >> We just can't >> from around the corner. Like what the did I do? >> No, that's what we're trying to figure out. Well, we need your side to figure that out. >> Oh my god. I'm a >> Victoria. Completely dysfunction. >> Hey, Victoria, let's sit right here. >> There you go. Who lives here? >> Like Melody. >> Melody. Okay. And who's Melody to you? >> That's my home girl. >> What were you and husband arguing about today? Do you remember? >> Apparently me not being a your wife. >> My camera wasn't on. >> Okay. Congratulations. He wants something cool. >> What the >> go? >> We're going to go this way. >> You need to drop it on the floor or pick it up. >> Let's go this way. >> Okay. Come on. We're going to go this way. >> Where would it help me? Walking that way and getting a filter whenever the I go that way. Is it okay if I get her to one sec? We're trying to get her to the car right now. >> Can you try me? >> Please. Can you go to the car? Victoria, >> can we see? >> Can we please go to the car? >> I'll give you one, but we got to go back. >> We have to go. We want a cigarette, man. Yes. It is >> right now. We're just here making sure everyone's okay. All right. >> I don't want to put my door >> here. I'm right here. Look, we'll go this way. >> My face. >> Okay. >> It doesn't matter. >> It don't matter either. >> Do you just have these lighters on you? >> I wasn't even driving right here on this street. Who the did that? >> We're about to find out. >> [ __ ] what though? >> Yeah. >> Now I'm [ __ ] said like all the seat right there. >> Yeah. But you want to >> Amid the chaos created by the adults, only the children's words rang true. >> Can you guys give us one second? >> We don't We don't need more people in the scene. >> I'm her mom. I'm I'm the grandma. >> Okay, we're going to figure it out. Just can you give us one second? We got a lot of family showing up. So, I need to talk to the kids real quick. The oldest real quick and then I'll get get them out of here. Where's the three oldest? You You guys, right? I got to ask you guys some quick questions. Okay. So, real quick, was mom arguing with dad this morning or no? >> Yes. >> Okay. Where was that at? >> At in the house in the room. After I came out, I went to go get water and use the bathroom and then came back in my room to get ready and I just hear them start fighting and then my dad's back. >> Was it between dad and stepdad or mom and stepdad or mom and actual dad? >> Mom and stepdad. >> That's my car. She's >> And she and Victoria's driving it. >> Yes. I leave it at home for them for them to take the kids to school and stuff. >> I just want to make sure it's your card. >> And so [snorts] the family drama officially began. The stepfather stepped in as the victim of his wife's and his mother was caught in the middle. Half defended her son, half sympathized with Victoria. So who was actually right? >> So what she told me um I was able to gather um that her boyfriend were fighting. She left to take the kids to the school stop. And I said, "Okay, what were you driving?" She said, "My Acadia." And I said, "Okay, but this vehicle right here." She said, "Yeah, that's my car." So you left home, brought kids to bus station. Sorry. >> No, you're good. And then then what happened? And then she said, "Then I was on my way home and I was like, "Okay, how did you end up here?" And she was like I was like, "Who lives here?" And she's like, "I'm see." And I said, "Okay, well, what were you doing here?" And she couldn't answer me, but she I mean she told me she was driving. >> She told She Okay, fair enough. I just want to make sure her statement was she got an argument with her boyfriend. She went to go pick up kids from bus stop. >> She go drop them off. >> Went to go drop them off, but the kids are still in the car. She goes back home towards the code one. >> Yeah. >> She's slightly >> No, I don't know. >> Is this her? >> Sir, don't don't talk to her. >> Okay. Don't talk to her. >> I'm looking for you. Are you What's your last? >> Yeah. I was looking for you. We just sent a cop to your house. >> I'll talk to you away from her and away from them. Okay. >> I was looking for you. I didn't know you were the family. >> The uh insurance real quick. Is that Is that good? >> That's fine. I'll just talk to you separately. I just don't want you talking to her. She's alleging a domestic situation and you're talking to my victim. >> Okay. I was making She's my wife, so I was making He is disabled and he has seizures. >> Okay. >> And he >> I just don't want him talking to my potential victim. >> I'm just letting you know so that you know how to treat the situation. >> Treat him different. >> Not treat him different, but not cause him to have a seizure. And she's known to be a as well. >> Yeah. Very. >> But he's your son. >> He's my son. >> So you're directly linked to him, not her. and her too. She I take care of her. >> Well, where my guy just he just took off. >> I'm getting you the insurance. >> Well, I sent a cop looking for him. I didn't know he was just going to show up on scene. I didn't know he knew that his lady >> he was asleep. I called him. No. >> Okay. >> And it [snorts] wasn't just him. His friend got pulled into this toxic spiral caused by the mother as well. >> Um, can you tell me I guess like prior to any of this what happened? >> She's just been doing this crying over everything and I couldn't even leave the house. didn't do anything cuz she's been doing this and uh putting her hands on my friend earlier when he was over there. >> When you say earlier, was it like it's not it's almost 10:00 now. So, was it >> like 6 5 6? >> Yeah, this morning. >> Okay. >> Yeah. And I told her don't put her hands on them. You know what I mean? Like >> Right. So, how long were all of you guys drinking at the house or was it what was going on? >> Me and him were when she left this morning to take the kids to school, she slammed some alcohol. That's Yeah. That's what my dad was saying. Okay. Before she walked out the house, she grabbed some alcohol and slammed the whole bottle. I didn't even know. I was done. I took my friend home. >> Okay. So, you weren't even at the house. >> Nuh-uh. >> Okay. >> And I got a call being blamed for all this. So, I'm like, woman's grown. Like, why? She knew what she was doing. Like, what the hell? I didn't force her to do nothing. I'm not doing what she does to me, pinning her down, not letting her leave the house. I don't do that. >> So, you just know that she was there when you left the house. You went and took friend home and then she >> I was I'm I'm in bed and then I get a call that she's >> But Victoria's [snorts] mother insisted they both used to fight. My grandchild saw my son being Yes. She dragged the kids into it as a shield without a second thought about the trauma they might have to endure. >> Yes, ma'am. >> This had been going on 7 in the morning. My question is they both put hands on each other. >> Shouldn't he be going to jail, too? Where are you getting that? They both put hands on each other. >> He grabbed her by the throat and threw her. >> You witnessed this, too? >> I didn't witness it. One of my grandkids did. >> When they came up, she told me that he and the kids also said that. >> I'm going to get I'm going to talk to her myself, but she's kind of like out of it, right? >> She's not going to be able to answer you the way she >> I got to ask her. She's the victim. I have to at least give her a chance to tell me something. It just if that was the case, the only thing that was kind of question that was kind of odd to me is that if it happened at 7:00 and it's 10:00 now, she left and then decided to go back towards the house. >> No, she didn't leave the car earlier. This happened, right? This happened since 7:00 on the way back to the house. >> She didn't leave at 7:00 in the morning. >> I know. I'm saying you're saying it happened around 7:00. She had a chance to leave. She left and then decided to make the decision to drive drunk to go back towards her house cuz she wasn't back to her house with her five kids in the car and crash. Yes, >> that's the problem I'm having. That's why we're going to ask them both about the domestic situation. >> Yes. I'm going to be honest with you. >> It might be irrelevant if she >> I'm going to be honest. >> She could have broke her kid's arm. She could have smashed. >> Yeah, I get it. I understand. All I'm saying is I'm going to be honest with you. He's not going to tell you the truth. The mom's not going to tell you the truth. >> People lie to us all the time. >> The last time they called that you guys were called over there, they were both lying. So, I'm just letting you know. I'm not cool with it. I get it. She needs to pay for I mean, she has >> I'm not cool with it either. I don't condone of it, but I have to have to hear it from one of them. No, >> I can't just take third party. >> We try not to put kids on the stand against mommy and daddy. We try not to. We really really try not to. It's wrong. It's unethical and moral usually. Hey, mom, dad. And they have to get on the stand in front of 12, 13 people. It just don't sound it don't work. And sometimes kids get pressured. They get >> and especially as it goes to court, it gets more longer. We try not to include kids at all. >> Yeah. >> Is it okay if I go? >> Yeah, you're good. >> Yeah. Okay. All right. >> However, you can get out. But >> can we leave? We can leave. Yes. >> Just one question. How much did you drink? Victoria spun around like a riddle, then lightly replied, "Just one glass." She even admitted to snorting some, nearly costing the lives of her five children. >> Victoria, let me talk to you. Let me talk to you. Let me talk. >> I just really be I cannot be like my baby [ __ ] >> Can I talk to Victoria, please? Okay. Let me talk to you real quick. Okay. Victoria, how much have you had to drink today? What did you use? Seriously, >> I don't even know what the I was given. >> Okay. What do you think you were given? >> I don't know. I felt like I was being betrayed in half of my day. Like I don't know. >> What did you drink today? >> I knew I had the importers. >> The importers? What flavor? >> It was regular. >> Regular. >> Okay. Did Did you have any shots or anything? Did you have any beers? I was just like I was just chilling. All I saw was my friendly importers. >> How much have you had to drink? How many importers? >> Dennis, I didn't even have like many importers. Like what the you can close the door if that's >> I'm asking you a serious question, Mr. Marty. How much have you had to drink today? me today without my kids or with my kids with the ever like >> how much >> did that I just remember me drinking a drink. That's what I remember. >> Was it an importer or was it a shot or a mixture? >> Was it mix? >> Oh, it was I was the person that everybody was mad at at that moment. >> Okay. But did you you didn't use any coke or mask or shrooms or anything today? >> I honestly honestly I did do a little bit of coke. Did you sniff it? You snorted it. >> I snorted it. >> Can you tell me what happened with when you guys were arguing this morning to >> He was holding me. Please. >> What time? >> He calmed down literally like before I left the house. He had one arm under me and he had one arm over me. like he's sitting here telling me that I'm [ __ ] holding down. He's holding me down. I'm the one I'm not. >> All right, let me I'm going to place you in couch real quick. Take a seat. >> I hate going to jail. >> Really? This is the first time I'm going to kill my kids. Don't have nobody like they >> Wait, this mom still had time to the cops before reaching the station. >> We're leaving. I'm going to have to go pee right now. Let me Let me >> Please. Oh my god. I'M ABOUT TO PISS ALL OF your >> Don't do it, please. Okay, we're leaving. We're leaving. We're leaving. Don't be peeing. >> Can I pee out the window and you not realizing you just let us? >> No. If you pee, you're going to be wearing your pee for the whole time. >> The window's open. Victoria faced charges related to DUI [music] and child. Under New Mexico law, she could face two to 5 years in prison, fines up to $5,000, and bail ranging from $5,000 to $10,000. Life can lose direction, but responsibility for your children is something you can't. Hopefully, Victoria will wake up and change. If not for herself, then for the child who needs a mother who truly cares. Welcome to Florida, where child care is handed off to a stranger because mom is busy with another kind of pleasure. >> She said the kid is with her. >> January 23rd, 2023, a 911 call rings out from a medical facility in Florida. An accusation that the police cannot delay. A mother suspected of leaving her young child alone for more than 30 minutes. Authorities rushed to the scene and the whistleblower, visibly tense, began recounting what they had witnessed firsthand. She didn't even care that we first we could not find where she was. We even came outside to ask a little girl what car and she said she didn't come. She came by taxi. We didn't realize mom had been sitting out on the bed. So I come over to her. I said, "Do you realize you've left her for the last 30 minutes? We don't know where you've been. You weren't in the bathroom." She had our key. And then she told me, "Hold on. I'm on the phone." And we're like, "What?" And like we just took her now. Like she does not even care that we >> Is that Is that her? Yeah, that's right. >> Where's um where's the girl? >> The problem is we have her. No, I asked um I called to make sure somebody could talk to her. >> No, there's nobody on >> you get one of the girls that has the girl. Maybe if you want to say the other girl. Is it one of your girls Spanish or No. >> Or if not, I have a girl that's with the little girls. She's She can speak uh Spanish. >> I can get Ariel out. >> Okay. Like she doesn't even matter that we've had her. Like I literally took her back inside to make sure that she's okay. Cuz at some point I figured what happened if this is not really her mom and they her you know she keep trafficking. I don't know. I mean for her not to care like even that guy was sitting there he's like something's wrong with her. >> Where is the little girl now? >> We took her back into the office into the conference room. I said to her what are you doing? She's like no I'm on the phone. And I'm like this is your child. >> How old is the little girl? >> The little girl's like five. She does speak English. So if you want to come up over here we're going to talk to her and she'll talk to you. Yeah. >> Yeah. >> The woman's up there. She's on the second floor. >> She's by the main suite, >> I think. Um, the woman in the blue pants is going to do translator stairs. >> You go up the stairs. I'm going to say >> the Hispanic mother stepped out, insisting that her child hadn't been abandoned, but was left with some woman. She had no idea who that woman was, nor where she might be. Everything pointed to a possible abduction. Yet, strangely, the mother remained completely unfazed. I just tell her to come out here. >> She's That's my mother, I think. >> And is this This isn't like somewhere where someone bring a kid, right? Like, so she's not confused right now. >> No. So, she came into our office needing assistance. I said, "Hey, you need the urgent care." Now, I just want she did come downstairs. She just asked for the kids. Okay. Well, you want to >> Well, I mean, do you have to I mean, cuz what's going on? Like why why is your daughter you outside and your daughter's in the building by herself for she said that the kid was never by herself that she left the kid with her and then with someone else another lady. It's >> no. >> So, she said she knows you, but she's not your friend. She didn't even leave the kid with me. That's not who I who was left. She was left with her. >> Okay. >> But either way, like they don't work for her for her to just be a them to be babysitters. Like, that's her child and she's her child with a stranger. No, excuse me. So, >> talk. Hang on. >> Do you speak in? >> No, she's going to talk for me. >> No. So, >> okay. I'm going to translate literally that she came because she wanted to go to the bathroom, but she couldn't get her daughter heart to remove her from the school. >> Mhm. >> And Yeah. So, she said she lived in South Carolina and she came to Florida two weeks ago. Uh-huh. Her daughter started school today, so she stopped here because she wanted to go to the bathroom. See, >> does she know where her daughter is at now? >> She said the kid is with her. She says that she must let the daughter Wait, wait. Get my hand out of that. She wants to know what's going on. >> I'm sorry. >> The problem is she she has no idea where her child is at. The problem is tensions [snorts] peaked when language became a barrier. One side was shouting and cursing non-stop while the other, unable [music] to understand a word, coldly carried out their duties. She's walking. She doesn't have a car. Yeah, it's a it's a big >> is Devon 94. >> Yeah, >> okay. She went over there. She's on her. Yeah, we'll take this one, you guys. Sorry. There we go. Wiggle worm. All right. Don't take me. >> Yeah, that's what I was talking about. >> Oh, that was unlocked. Saturday. >> [screaming] >> Sit down. [screaming] >> There we go. >> No worries. Medical staff stepped in to decode the mother's rambling. The truth slowly came to light. She brought her child to the hospital for a dog bite, then disappeared for over 30 minutes only to return high and completely out of control. >> All that jabbering was nothing. Literally was nothing. You know what is your advice? I know that this is crazy. I'm pregnant. I got pregnant in Ecuador. She's now saying that she's pregnant, but >> Well, I got a couple um Spanish speakers to the hospital. I know that. Uh, what about >> you have to say? >> So, did she come in for the baby or did she come in for her? We work in the MRI department. >> She came in asking for assistance. The girl in the front desk doesn't speak English. So, hey Annie, can you help her out? So, automatically she said, "Hey, my daughter got bit." I said, "Oh, no. You need to go to the urgent care. Come on, I'll walk you over." Da da da da decided today. >> She brought this girl in for a dog bite and then she went to go use the bathroom and then >> she was gone for a half hour. >> Yeah. What happened? She has no idea where her kids are, >> but they were with the they were with the nursing staff. >> Drunk are all these. >> Yeah, she's definitely her eyes are and she starts to randomly laugh. >> She looked at me. She kept looking at me. >> She were here. She's just wandering around while I was doing stuff. >> Was she lost? >> She's on something. >> She just she'll be standing there like I'll be holding her then all of a sudden she'll just start like Joker like laughing like not even Heath Ledger Joker like Jared Leto Joker. >> Is that the girl? Where's the girl at? >> She's still with the nursing staff in the urgent care. So, you're saying the girl had a dog bite, >> but there's no mark. There's no marks, they said. >> Yeah, there was no puncture. >> Okay. So, the phone is she says it's her mom. Someone did try to call and they were saying like, "Where the she said, where the are you? Where are you right now? We need to get you so we can go." And then when I said to her, "Well, who are you?" They hung up the phone before we could tell. >> That's not her child. >> We don't know. >> We don't know. >> We don't know that. And the little girl does state that it's her mother. >> Cuz that pictures you showed me, it looked like either it was a minivan or like a truck. >> It does. Actually, you can see. And that's that minivan's been just sitting there chilling. It's got a weird green one. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. It's cool idea. >> You can see what kind of >> Well, Jake, just look at the pictures cuz I think we might be able to see the color and if it's the same guy. Is it? It's a guy, right? With a beard. >> Yeah, it's a Nissan. >> Sophia trader. >> Is that the van? >> No, the one in the picture is a Nissan. It looks like >> Oh. A strange man suddenly appeared and revealed the truth. She came to the US as an asylum seeker, fleeing an abusive addicted ex-husband in Venezuela. But somewhere along the road to freedom, she seems to have left behind both her duty as a mother and her child's most basic rights. >> She spit on you or >> she spit on her. >> Oh no, that's another charge. >> That is a charge. Devon's in there making pro they're making some seems like progress with like uh getting information from the little girl about like a other name or um just like clarification on things you've already been told like where she lives and stuff. >> Yeah. Like she talking about a house >> and a computer. >> He wants to explain what's going on or good. He received her about 15 days ago from Georgia via Georgia. She advised him, you know, that she was coming to the States if she could come with him. If he could receive her like receiving, what's the deal with that? >> That's what we call for like political asylum. You know, I'm Cuban, so it's it's a Latin term. It's Hispanic. >> Mom have other children. >> How how long you friends? >> Seven Seven years. Seven years. Okay. >> That's her her information. He said she >> she has passport. Okay. >> Passport. >> Can you take that out? I can't I can't take it out. >> Um what he was explaining is that he received her 15 days ago to help her in the sense of that she her husband in Venezuela was doing and losing her mentally and physically. When she came here they're um in their country they're news reporters. >> So he knowing her differently over there and today are two different people. She is not stably right right now. and he says it's >> it's yeah it's a lot of issues and she does have brother and mom are in the other on on the phone in Venezuela here and mom and brother are saying also she suffers from anxiety and panic attacks >> and when she gets two and then she did advise that she smoked some coke so so they went to pick up from school he asked a friend which is a pastor if they can pick Chloe up with mom and when they went home a neighbor's dog picked the girl so the pastor decided to bring Chloe And mom here, he's saying a little bit irresponsibly just dropped them off and left. Mom not knowing the area. Oh my god. >> So since this morning she hasn't been acting right >> when he received her uh from you know Venezuela was there like paperwork you know things like you know that sponsor >> that's no he's friends with her from Venezuela. They were both reporters out there >> but the pastor that dropped them off he's friends with him as well. >> Right. her brother saying that she came here over asylum, political asylum. >> Yeah. Amnesty, >> not amnesty. Right. He wants to know what the next process is for DCF. >> Depends on what information. >> There you go. But I can't. >> Do you guys need me to stay to help with translating? I just need to know. I need to make a phone call. I got a kid probably saying, "Hey, mommy, where's my dinner?" >> We use the translation line. >> I don't mind. The mother is facing multiple charges. Child, resisting [music] arrest, and two counts of battery on a law enforcement officer after repeatedly spitting on them. Under Florida law, she could face up to 20 years in prison and fines of up to $20,000 with bail set between $14,000 and $24,000. >> In the pictures, they also live at the house. >> They've only been here 15 days. These are family and friends from the Carolas where they were at their home. >> Yeah. >> So, how long? So, what's being charged for? battery on a law enforcement battery. >> Law enforcement battery arrest. >> Okay. So, how long do you think she would be in there for? Like if she didn't make >> 30 days. >> She doesn't make bond. >> Yeah. >> Years. >> Really? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Where's the child? >> She's inside. I'll walk over. >> Okay. Yeah. I'll have to go. >> Huh? >> Hey, Jacobson PD. We're coming in with a a female that was uh and spitting and all sorts of other crazy stuff and she does not speak English. Just a heads up. She's calmed down now. Okay. All right. Go murder around the corner. >> Have you ever witnessed a child suffer because of an adult's reckless behavior or known someone who was once successful only to break down under the weight of life's pressures?
