HEY, TAKE HER KID. TAKE MY KID. >> He grabbed me, threw me on the ground. My eyes my face. She's playing victim. So, put me in. >> SHUT THE UP. SHUT THE UP. You little >> Imagine standing at your own front door and moments later, every word is documented, every gesture note. >> So, he took her inside? >> Yep. And locked locked her in there and said we couldn't get her back until we called the police. >> I did not touch him. I destroyed the house. I didn't touch it. Then he got on my face, pushed me, he grabbed me from right here. >> Today's stories follow the quiet shift from a private family moment to a formal report faster than most people realize. One wrong decision, one moment of lost composure, and a mother can lose legal standing, even custody rights, in an instant. >> And he just got up like he was about to come to me. I'm 9 months pregnant. You're not coming for me. On December 15th, 2024, a mother and her fianceé drove from Michigan to Georgia to deliver divorce papers to her ex-husband. Things were calm at first, but tension rose when she asked to see her daughter. The father closed the door, kept the child inside, and said he would only allow contact once authorities were present. From that point on, the situation shifted from a civil disagreement to a tense household incident, leading to official involvement and a formal review. >> Talk to them. We came from out of town to serve him with the papers from court and um who p him Steven. >> So what who lives here? >> Stephen. We came all the way from Detroit to serve him. It was already agreed on and everything and we served him and then he asked to see our daughter for a second and then he locked her in the house with him and he wouldn't give her back. So that's why you guys were called. And then he came out when y'all said y'all was in route. We let him know y'all was on the way and he let her out the house and and then he came out fighting. Came out trying to bust my window and and and started fighting him. And I'm just like, "Stop. My daughter is in a cart." And yeah, he just him and then he mad because I don't he's like he missed his daughter stuff like that. >> He said, "I'm so now >> nobody's keeping." >> What did the fight? What did the fight? What did the fight happen? >> He came out the house and and bound my window and pulled him out the car and started fighting him. >> Said he came out the window. So the paper that you got, was it court paper or >> I got the other I got my copy right here. >> Okay. So isn't it the sheriff was a server? They told you allowed the server. >> Yep. That's how Michigan do it. As long as me personally is not doing it, I can have somebody else do it on my behalf, which is what we did. >> Okay. So, you're the mother. >> I'm the mother. >> Okay. What is it to you? >> This is my current fiance. >> And who is he? >> That's my ex-husband. >> Your ex-husband? >> We about to be divorced. >> Divorced without your ex-husband. >> Yeah. That's my kid's dad. This is >> He was fighting him. >> Yep. He came out the house and >> he said that I couldn't get her. She said, "We got to go to breakfast. We head back to Detroit. You can't have her." So, I said, "No, you're not taking my" I said, "I need to spend some time with her. I haven't saw my daughter in 8 months." He said, "Yes, you are." Yeah, we are getting her back. I closed the door, locked the door. He came here, started kicking on the door, hitting on the door. But you if you call the 911, they have the recordings cuz they record all the calls. I was like, "Hey, you right. You He saying all this stuff to me through the door." Eventually, I wait. He calmed down, went in the car, went to the [ __ ] went in the car. When he got in the car, I said, "Man, it ain't worth all this. I'm going just go ahead and let my daughter go cuz I don't play with that. I'm I'm just I called you guys. I'm just let y'all go, man. I >> I don't want to with the police today, right?" So I took my daughter outside to the car. He kept calling me [ __ ] and stuff. He got out of the car, grabbed grab grabbed me, tried to punch me, actually my face. >> You walked outside with >> Yeah. I walked outside with my daughter and he got out of the car in your head where you started. >> No, my daughter had got in the car already. >> My daughter's 8 years old. She's right there. She's right there. She >> He got a car trying to fight me. H my face still. I grabbed him just like this like a bear hug. He just took me to the ground and I'm right here on top of him like around him with a bear hug just holding him and he's trying to fight me. You know what I'm saying? I know I can, you know, he's bigger than I can just, you know, I can do whatever, whatever. You know what I'm saying? But I'm just holding trying to push out. As soon as I'm holding off and I got I said, "Bro, I got" and I said, "Please come, bro. Please come." I got right here. You got pulled up. >> This is the paperwork you just signed. This is what we came for. >> No, my question is right. You know, when we go into a situation, it's always nasty. Why you didn't call us to help in the middle of this? >> I thought that it would be nice of said cuz he asked for it. He asked for me to come to out here and stuff. >> Yeah, that's how you >> Yeah. He asked you cuz he wants to we want the divorce that's that's agreed on. You know what I'm saying? I thought it was going to be fine and stuff like that. >> So, let me let me make sure I got this right. You came here to serve him papers cuz he asked you to. This is his house. Y >> I'm guessing you gave your your fiance the papers to give to him >> cuz I can't personally. >> You can't give it to him. So once he opened the door, he >> was they were fine. They were fine. Then he asked he said >> put it somewhere. >> Yeah, go ahead. He said, um, you know, everything was cool. And then he asked, "Can he see her? We, you know, everything was fine." So we like, "Yeah, you can see her for a second." And cuz he brought her some stuff or whatever. And I'm like, "Okay, cool." So he's like, "I'm showing it to her." I called him. I'm like, "What's taking so long? We want to get I'm pregnant. I'm 9 months pregnant." And I'm like, "We want to go get breakfast. We're hungry. We haven't ate yet." He's like, "Oh, I'm not giving her back. I'm not doing this. You going to have to call the police. You can talk to her. She's very, very mature. I mean, not mature, but she speaks very well for her age. She's 8 years old." >> So he took her inside. >> Yep. and locked locked her in there and said we couldn't get her back until we called the police. We already have a PO and protection order that just expired for the same thing >> for what? Not >> him, holding her against the will, keeping her stage and stuff like that. She lives with me on the property. >> You have your license with you, Ros. You got your license with you? >> He just >> officers recorded differing accounts from both sides. The matter might have remained a private dispute if the mother's fiance had not stepped in. came here to serve him the paperwork. He signed it and then he asked to see his girl. He allowed him to see him see her. He decided to he took the initiative to lock her in the house. He was in there about 10 minutes. >> She called him said he wouldn't let her come out. I wait knocked on the door a few more times. I was knocking a little hard to let her out. He waited another couple minute. I came back to the car told him to car banging on the window right near me. So then after that he snatched me out the car and then get my head out of here. He grabbed me, threw me on the ground, me got off my eyes, smashed my face, pushed me a couple times. Of course I'm defend trying to defend myself and that's all you got to say. Oh, I'm bigger than you and this and that. I mean, so her right here, she started the whole thing. >> Yeah, she's in there crying here. >> You can't ask her cuz she she sole purpose was to come over here and serve him with paper. >> Yep. They >> be at that park. You're just trying to leave and you came out fighting and assaulting people. >> Okay. So, at what point when all of this was going down, what point or why didn't you call us? >> We called y'all as soon as >> I can't call you. The 300 lb dude on top of >> We called y'all soon as he said we couldn't get back in the car. So, even if that was >> I did call. >> She did call >> and they said >> they said it was already somebody in route. We called before the fight even happened. >> Yeah. >> It said it was you in route. So, we were just sitting here in the car waiting on y'all to show up. So, I pulled you out the car. >> You said what? >> That's what I just said. >> He wasn't in here when they were talking. >> I didn't I wasn't here. >> Yeah, I just told your partner. >> Calm down with the attitude. >> I'm just I'm just saying. Um, >> you just saying what? >> Calm down with the Just let you know, calm down with the attitude. So, at what point, ma'am, did you get out the car and him in his face cuz he got a big old shoe print on his face. >> He was on top of him doing all that on the ground. My daughter was screaming, crying, and I said, you know, get off him. we done here. We want to go. And he just got up like he was about to come to me. I'm 9 months pregnant. You're not coming towards me. So, I did what I had to do. And then I came back around and got in the car. >> Although parts of the stories over overlapped, in this case, the outcome did not seem to support the engaged couple. >> Who called? >> I called. I called 911. >> At what time? >> 12:25. >> Do you have any additional calls at this location? >> No, it was just one call. I called. Who's They saying they call the police? >> Here you go. >> I call the police. Go to jail for what? getting my >> Nobody said you going to jail. >> I ain't say that either. She said that. >> I said I just said nobody going to jail. >> Only thing we would say to you was just you know we can calm down. Let me remember for attitude. >> I'm calm, bro. I just got >> understood. >> He already had those marks on on his face. He was already my >> He was already out. So I didn't I did not make him or nothing like that. >> He keep saying I his door. You don't even see that on my sho. You're not going to see full shoe print. You're not going to see a dog print on your shoes. >> No, I'm just saying I look at the shoes I'm wearing. Do you think I would kick a door in with these on? Bro, >> you can't kick the door with barefooted. So, I mean, >> I didn't kick the door. >> You just bam. >> If I kicked the door, >> can you show me Can you show me the record of you calling the police? >> Yeah. >> If I kicked the door in, it would have been broke down. I promise. >> Listen, listen, listen. >> That's what I did. >> Listen. Are you listening to me now? I hear you. >> So, be quiet now. Otherwise, you're going to you can't go sit in the back of the car. What? >> Being aggressive and please just be quiet. >> I ain't being aggressive. >> Well, now you're changing words. >> I said I said aggressive. >> Each side had its own perspective. The mother was drained and under pressure from a marriage still unresolved while the father carried deep love and longing for his child. In the middle of the heated exchange, one detail was forgotten. The child was watching her parents in conflict over her. >> She told me that he refused to give the daughter and then when when he when when they said they're going to fall down, that's when he came out with a daughter. started fighting him. So it's complet. >> Oh yeah. No, I'm just saying based on what you saying but what they saying once she said no it's complet >> when you came out with your daughter. >> My daughter got in the car with her stuff. Me and him was back and forth still calling her name. He got in the car my face and grabbed at me and I grabbed him in the bare hook and I just grabbed her to the ground. I held it down on the ground and when I held her down the ground she came and my face. He was grabbing my grab and grab. >> So what was it? What what part of the ground? What was it? Which part? >> Right beside that corner. >> Was the car? >> Yeah, right. She walked around. >> So at any point did you did you open the door pulling out the car? >> No, I didn't open the car door at all. >> Cuz that's what I'm trying to figure out. >> No, I would never open that way car door. But I'm saying if you I telling him to the 911 call. If you call the 911 call, the dude was literally before I came outside. He was on my door. Call me [ __ ] I'm going you up. All kind of stuff. Please, please, please. I tried to record it first before I got I got real scared. He I don't know if he said he was going to shoot me all kind of but you recording recording. I tried to record for this before nothing came. Well, this I was talking to you my door in. Okay. >> I told you recorded. >> Okay. Then I called you saying I got you kept my door. I said >> you can't really say that at this point. But it probably got into one separate way. >> Yeah, it is >> cuz they're going to be biased then. >> They came over here to let me see my daughter. I was supposed to have her cuz I'm signing papers today, right? to finish our divorce cuz we've been separated for like two years, right? We've been separated. So, she brought my daughter over here. I was supposed to spend time with her while they go eat breakfast. When I had my daughter, I signed a paper or whatever. She changed her mind of the whole deal we had. She said, "They got to hurry and get back to Michigan. They going to get breakfast with her." And I told her, "No, you can't have my daughter. Like, I was supposed to have time with her today. I haven't saw my daughter in months." You know what I'm saying? I want to spend time with her. I said, "I'd come back out to breakfast and get her." So, I closed the door and lock door said, "No, y'all go get breakfast." And and he start, you know, start beating on my door. I bought my daughter like a lot of stuff. I bought her a PS5. I bought her like some crayon stuff, some jewelry, a Pandora bracelet, a bot line stuff. I bought my daughter and I wanted to spend a good, you know, good amount of time. Came saw her. >> So now question, now quick question. Does who has full custody? You got shared custody. >> We don't have no custody, no custody agreement. Like it's no cut cuz we haven't got divorce yet. We're still technically we're still married right now. She took off with my daughter two years ago and got with this man. Like she loved me for this. >> That's a question. Is there any is there any point that you actually lock your daughter inside of them? You over there and tell them like they don't tell I told her she couldn't have my daughter. I told they couldn't get my daughter into actually. >> Did you lock your daughter inside there and tell them that they cannot have your daughter? >> No. I say they can't have my daughter into I I spent time. >> I ain't plan to go back to work looking like this. >> Yeah, we supposed to be getting on the road. Like we just literally came here for this. We're about to get back on the road and go all the way back to >> What kind of paper was you serving? >> I just showed your partner my court documents for divorce. Divorce with child. >> So that's your husband? >> Yeah. Tech legally. >> Okay. >> Yeah. But we've been uh separated for almost 6 years. >> Ain't they say something about a notes? There was no he say it so we can get real cuz he didn't ask bigger than we don't know if he got >> but somebody did mention six or >> no he mentioned that he mentioned it cuz he's the one he's the first caller that said there was the guy was bigger the door >> she was the first >> No he was the first caller. >> Did he sign it? >> Yeah he signed it. That's what I'm saying. Everything was fine at first. >> When was the last time he saw his daughter >> in court when they gave her back to me from him. He had protection order. >> What was last time? >> Last year. >> Last year. He haven't seen his daughter for since last year. No, he well he saw her in the summer when we tried to see if it would work out and um then he played little games mind games again and so we I just said we're going to let the court handle it because you can't be trusted. >> So my question for you, did you tell him it was cool you was going to bring your boyfriend with you? He was okay with that. >> Yeah. >> You okay with that? That he was cool with it. >> He knew we were coming down here. >> No, I'm not saying new we cuz you and your daughter that's still weak. But you tell specifically I'm bringing my new boyfriend with me at the time. >> They already they knew. Hit me up. Do you have proof of that? >> No. >> That's There we go. >> He was on the phone call. >> Yeah. Here we go. So that's cuz cuz when you go >> He didn't have an issue once he signed the paper. >> Hear me out. Hit me out. Whenever you go into a divorce with anybody, this you Michigan is legal, but you in Georgia now it's not legal for you to serve people by yourself because you crossing jurisdiction right now by coming to Georgia. Even though we cannot serve it for you, since like that, you could call us to help you out with that's why you cross the line right now cuz you're not in Michigan anymore. You cross the border completely. >> Yeah. Cuz because it's legal there doesn't mean it's going to be it's going to be legal here. So if you needed help for us to figure this out, you need to call us out at the end of the day. So that's when you cross the line basic basically. >> Okay. But it's not illegal. >> It is legal in Georgia cuz you cannot serve it in Georgia. The fact that it's legal in your home state, they cannot come serve it here. When you get here, you should call us to help you with the situation. So that's what it is. Now, now basically he can't go to jail because he's he went to a place that's not allowed to be here. this point. >> Well, nobody told us he couldn't come. I have those messages that we just asked you. Is he going to know your new boyfriend's coming? >> Yes, he knew. >> What's the proof? You have the proof. That's why he said, "No, you don't have it." He was on the phone call. The same way he got proved that he knew he was coming, you could have the say, "Hey, is it okay for my new boyfriend to come with you, too?" >> He knew we were coming. He know my question. I must >> I know. But what I'm telling you is we discussed we did discuss it and I told him I can't personally serve you. So, I'm bringing some um bringing him with me to serve you. And my friends are were supposed to come too, but they was running out of gas. >> The kid was in the house. Why didn't you just call us instead of you? >> Yeah, but why didn't you just wait for us to get here instead of you trying to >> I came back and set the car. >> But you were banging on the door. >> I knocked on the door. Yeah, cuz I wanted her to come outside. Yeah, >> understood. But if you call, why don't you just let us come and then do our job and get to wake me up? >> I mean, well, he eventually opened the door. I had to ser you have to sign some paper. >> How would you you not serving? >> He can't do it. >> So that's when that's when people hire a private private individual to come do that type of [ __ ] Not just you put yourself in. >> Well, listen, bro. I'm from Michigan. We It's It's kind of different down there. >> No, I ain't go down here. >> I know, but he just I'm just saying I I wasn't educated on the law. >> We've been playing for months. He knew we were coming down for months. Like this is not something. >> How long been here? She was never she was in >> she just wanted to hide inside and then that's when >> yeah he wanted to show her his the gifts that he got her and um then he locked her inside >> with accounts that didn't fully match. Officers spoke with a nearby neighbor to gain a clearer understanding of what had happened. >> I just wanted to know if you can review footage from at least maybe 20 to 30 minutes ago. >> Like we could hear the noise a while ago but it's not on there. >> Yeah, it skips ahead. You see him knocking on the door and then it skips to y'all talking to him over there. I think she set the [ __ ] up. I think she set the whole thing up because yo, if you don't trouble, why the hell would you bring your current boyfriend with you and everything, bro? I think she said this whole >> And I saw her one one day in 7 months, bro. Like that's you know what I'm saying? >> So when you walked to the car then >> I walked to the car. We would call each other names and stuff. He got out of the car and that guy female or y >> Yeah, we Well, he went to the car first. He was sitting in the car. >> He grabbed you like around your neck like this. >> Yes. And I grabbed up under like this up under where his arms were and I turned I turned around like this cuz he's in front of me like this. I turn around like this and put him on the ground and that's my and my arm the ground on top of him. >> Yes, I'm on top of you in the face. >> I'm on top of him like this, right? >> She walk around the car. Get off him and in my face like >> like literally me as hard as you can in my face. Bro, >> did she tell you that? >> Yeah, she went through. >> Okay. >> Video evidence gradually clarified events and the fiance's explanation became less convincing. Faced with that footage, the mother also began to acknowledge what had taken place. Honesty, even when it comes late, still carries weight. >> And we got the tussling over here. He jumped on top of me. Obviously, you know, you can be >> What's tussling? I need I need detail. >> He grabbed me. He jumped on top of me. He's >> How did he grab you? >> Grab me out. Snatch me out the car. >> No, like like explain to me. How did he grab you? Over the shoulders. Under the shoulders. >> Grabbed me by my jersey. He grabbed me by my jersey. He grabbed you like this. Correct. >> And then he threw me on the ground right there. And then he started trying to I was trying to defend myself. He me in the face. touched me and was and then he was gouging my eye when I got up off the ground. >> He gouged your eye when you got off the ground. He was grabbing my eye when I was I was against the car cuz I was able to get up and he was grabbing me by my eye. >> How did the fight stop in the car? >> No, not start. Stop. Stop. How did it stop? >> It stopped. >> Mhm. Got up. He just got He just walked around. The fight actually stopped as soon as one of y'all >> they hear >> I'm sorry I can't hear you cuz the >> He's screaming. That's not here. He's screaming. And you can't stop. >> I filed for force three times, bro. One time admission I couldn't be served. Two times here, they threw it out cuz jurisdiction when she moved, we lived through the cab. She moved and took my daughter in the cab to court. So the law says you got be if you live in there less than 6 months, you can't file the case, right? So I filed the cab because she had moved out the cab less than 6 months. They kicked it out because she live in Detroit. So like they say, you got to file in your own county. So I I filed an unfortunate cuz I moved to for I filed an fortune account which is here. I filed it here and they kicked it out cuz they said they had no jurisdiction in Michigan. Then I f I filed it myself and I went to Michigan and got her I couldn't get her served. I went to Michigan file it myself and they kicked it out cuz I couldn't get her served. >> What y'all saying is that new boyfriend that's what you originally said video does not show that video show. So it's all about credibility right when you talk to them right. So this all about right. >> Okay. >> So her doors are unlocked. >> Yeah. I unlock the door. >> Okay. Well, had the stuff, right? >> Yes. Yes. >> Yes. Okay. After she got in and >> Yeah. >> What? >> I think they were already they was going back and forth, right? >> Okay. >> And that's when your boyfriend got out. So this >> Okay. Standing by his version, the fiance continued to deny starting the confrontation and said he could not clearly remember that critical moment. >> I'm going to tell show you what tell you what I see. >> Okay. >> So, I'm trying to confirm that or y'all going tell the truth. >> I did not see that. That's what I'm saying. >> And what made you in the midst of them trusting? Why did you come around the park? I think I'm on a vacation and he got up. He got >> Do you think you him in the face helping him to end or it's caused a more but it's causing more? >> Get off of him. Get off of him. He got up like he was going to come at me. >> Now you added more to it, right? But but what I'm saying is you saying he got up and kicked him like he was down to the ground. >> No, he wasn't already down to the ground. >> Both of them was on the ground. >> Yeah. And he was getting up cuz I'm screaming, "Get off the boat. Get off the ground." >> He wasn't standing. He wasn't standing. too. >> He was getting >> it wasn't all two feet. He was still laying on the ground and that's >> I wouldn't do it here. >> Understand you haven't seen your daughter of your kid for like over a year. >> I've been in that position. >> You better? >> Absolutely. I got three different baby mas. That's the fourth one. So I know how to >> They start. She was, you know, still trying to get me cry. I'm just like, are you kidding me? She crying. This and that. She like, oh no, no, don't fight. Don't fight. Don't fight. And that's that's my that was I was zone in like get in the car. I locked the door once she got in the car. Y'all gonna fight. Y'all gonna fight. But I'm calling the police. Police said they was already in route. I'm just like just wait for the police here. Just wait for the police here. I thought he first cuz I thought he pulled him out the car. >> He didn't pull him out the car. So you just see that boyfriend? >> No. Did you see him at your boyfriend? >> No. You didn't see no You just seen them land. You just seen them land on each other on the ground. We're >> pulling like this like this and they went down to the ground. >> They both went down to the ground. talked to her. She now told the truth about the situation. I reviewed video of the fight. He didn't snatch you out. So, what words did you say a threat to you? He said, "Hey, I'm bigger than you. I'm bigger than you." >> And that's what got you kind of upset. You stepped out the car. >> Correct. >> Right. So, he did cuz I already he didn't grab that car. And thing about this when we ask the question once you lie you know it mess up your credibility and it's also of obstruction that you hear in our investigation like this true statements right. So but I told her we could just document this stuff but we need a full truth and not not a lie cuz we know the facts from the video. >> You didn't yank you out the car. You stepped out the car and you first >> I first it's is she already look she already >> but I said your own girl already said no listen listen >> it's cool right all this stuff it's still a fight right nobody said you going to jail for it she not going to jail for it nobody said nobody going to jail for it all I said was documentation purposes the full truth coming from you I can't leave knowing I seen the truth but I can't let you just leave knowing that you just lied to me saying that you you did there when I know you. >> Okay. I was I don't recall on him first, but he came up to the car banging on the window me. So then I stepped out the car and all I remember was him grabbed throwing me on the ground and then we was tustling from there, fighting from there. >> And what made you step out of the car though? >> He was me. >> Wait, was throwing you something? >> He said, "I'm bigger than you. I beat you up, calling me." And you know that that just wired me right there. >> All I said was I up where you stand. Oh man, I'm not standing there. Why you lock it? Why you just didn't lock the door? >> She actually didn't lock the door. >> Oh, you unlocked it. That's why I locked the door and came out cuz you said you bigger than you. >> No, why did when he called me got out and that's when he, you know, >> still missing out. You still missing one part? >> I don't recall on him first. >> You recall at all to >> All I remember was him grabbing. >> So you don't recall at all? >> Definitely not first. I'm not even that type of person. You got to provoke me to really do that. What you got in the car for me? You already when you got out the car. >> You all right? >> Makes sense, right? >> You got a pork. >> Yeah, >> you good. >> Y'all don't mind if I my breeze. >> What that is bait? >> Look at you. Tell the truth. >> I'm telling the truth, brother. >> I'm telling the truth. All right. >> In the end, the side that tried hardest to justify its actions was also the one facing legal consequences. The children were placed with their father, who had recently been making efforts to spend more time with them. Are you trying to press charge against this? >> I am. I don't want my daughter to see her as hell. >> I'm saying I'm saying so do you want no charge so hard? >> Both of them. I want to charge on both of them. But I'm saying I just don't want to let my daughter >> You don't want your daughter to see his mom. >> You get what I'm saying? I don't want her to see that. If I can p You know what I'm saying? Please. >> We can try. All right, man. Step by for me. Back. Hey, princess. How you doing? What's your name? Eden. Won't you mind stepping out? Eden, you can get your presents. I see you painting your nails. >> We're going to go inside with your daddy. >> Hi. >> You don't want me to get your presents for you? We got to go outside. >> Cuz you're going to stay with your daddy. We're going to talk to your mommy and daddy outside separately. Okay. We're going to talk to him separately. Okay. >> Going to talk to her for a little while. Okay. >> She going to call us. All right. Cuz that's what the law say. You know what I mean? At day cuz we can't you can't come ser out of out of jurisdiction to another jurisdiction even though you guys agreed on it. And if he turns that warrant cuz basically that's cooperative. He can stand a ground. That's why I kept asking her. Did he know that he was coming with you? The fact that you guys are bro before she should never came with you. He know that was a trick or something. It's the same way like my my ex girlfriend I got a baby with her bringing my she bring the next ex dude to come pick up my child and we already argument before. You know how that's going to go. You know what I'm saying? All that could have been avoided at the end of the day. You feel me? >> Let me give >> and we'll you want to get you want to give you want get stuff to them too. >> Yeah. >> Do y'all both live out here now in Georgia? >> No. We we literally just drove down here to serve these papers and we about to get back on the road and go home. How long we be locked up? I ain't never been locked up before. >> Yeah, that's what you >> I don't know what your intentions was or the boyfriend's intentions were his intentions, but obviously you bring the boyfriend to the equation. >> He did that on purpose. That's why he was recording. Of course he did. Of course he did. That's just who he is. >> Everything was >> Everything is premeditated. >> And you got yourself involved by coming around. You could have just stayed out the way and called us. You pregnant and you got another child. You would have been straight. You go kiss him. It would just be your boyfriend. Well, he didn't have to be a about it and press charging. He could have took it like he did everybody else. He want to throw his weight around. Oh, I'm bigger than you. I'm bigger than you. Always want to come at somebody and be the aggressor and then cry the victim when the police get there. >> I don't want no seat bel cuz it's going to be I mean to both. >> So, just so you're uh clear, you are being charged with battery just for engaging in a fight with um her husband. Okay. >> All right. So, how we get arrested and he don't get arrested? I'm just Gary cuz we got video footage from the ring camera across the street and it's me and him. >> Yep. Ain't no way. >> The mother was charged with battery and thirdderee to children. Under Georgia law, she could face up to two years in prison and a $2,000 fine. Sometimes the greatest protection for a child is simply adults knowing when to pause, allowing the legal process to work and sparing children from carrying heavy memories created by grown-up conflicts. While cooperation was needed to calm the situation, the mother held her child closely, appearing to delay addressing the legal process. >> Yeah, >> your baby. Come here, sweetie. >> Come here, V. Your baby. On April 19th, 2024, Alton, Illinois, officers were sent to a residence after a report of property damage involving a woman. The situation soon grew more serious with added concerns about the well-being of a young child. When officers made contact, the woman went into a bedroom with her 2-year-old and kept the child with her rather than immediately speaking with authorities. >> Stay out the way, please. >> ALL RIGHT. THERE'S A THERE. >> GET OUT of the house. >> For real. Get out and go on the sidewalk. >> What you mean? >> You're allowed to record from a legal space on her property is not legal. Let's go out here. >> Say it's not legal for me to be here >> on her property. >> I pay rent to both places. >> You can be on the sidewalk. >> I pay rent in both places and a landlord can verify that. >> Okay. If you come in here, >> I'm just letting you know. I CAME IN TO BOTH PLACES. CALL THE landlord right now. I'm just recording. >> If you come in here, you're going to get arrested for obstructing. >> Obstructing of justice. >> Correct. >> What am I obstructing? Recording >> the place that I PLAY WITH >> THE DOORWAY. >> I PLAY RIGHT HERE. >> I LAND ON THE WAY. >> I'm not, you know, I'm not letting her go. >> I'm not letting her go. Not letting I'm not going to let her go. Mom, do you hear me? I don't give a >> go. Calm down. >> Kinder, come over by me. >> I'm going to around and find out. You're going to find out. Like I said, >> I hurt your baby. Come here, sweetie. >> Come here, baby. I hurt your baby. Okay, put your hands behind your back. >> Mom, I'm going to jail. I know that you're going to jail. You got to stop this, please. >> Y'all have no laws. Can you guys glad you did that? You're catching a felony for battering a cop. You dumb. >> Your mom's a dumb. >> YOUR MOM'S A DUMB. >> If you don't let me lock YOU AROUND. WATCH THIS. >> If you don't let me lock these cuffs, you're going to hurt yourself. >> I'm in here. I'm in here. I'm not sure what planet you would exist on, but you are not going to [ __ ] knee me in the crush. You stupid [ __ ] >> Dislocated her finger or something. Get out of there. >> You understand me? >> Are you [ __ ] done now? You stupid [ __ ] >> The worst. >> You are dumb as a box of >> your mom. Go ahead. >> You'reing mom >> here. >> I will put them by each other. You're not going to do anything tonight. >> I literally did talking about you're not going to do anything. And I'm I'm double jointed in my thumbs. I have to take them off again. >> Good. >> So, put them on as tight as you can. >> Yeah, we will. >> Watch what I do. I'm going to show you on camera. >> You taking them off? >> Yeah. >> You thought you WAS DOING SOMETHING. THEY'RE DOUBLE JOINTED. THEY'RE DOUBLE JOINTED. I CAN BEND THEM ALL THE WAY BACKWARDS AND THEY'RE GOING TO COME OFF AGAIN. Shackle me. You >> you little guys. >> HEY, TAKE HER KID. TAKE MY KIDA. >> GRAB HER AND GET OUT. JUST GRAB HER AND GET OUT, PLEASE. >> SHUT THE UP. YOU WANT YOUR LITTLE SHUT THE UP. SHUT THE UP. YOUR little Your little and you know it. YOU'RE MY SNAKE IS BIGGER than your Shut the up like I said. And I'mma take the handcuff again. You couldn't cuff me if you wanted to. >> And I'mma put them together. >> Yeah. Good for you, bro. >> Are you? Cuz you couldn't. You couldn't. YOU HAD TO GET ANOTHER MAN TO CUFF A WOMAN. >> LITTLE. AND YOU KNOW YOU CAN A WANTED TO WITH THAT LITTLE my bigger than you. Do you think that's You're so happy. Is that what I had to use in my door? >> No. >> Yeah, [ __ ] So hard. Y'all so happy about a domestic one. What? That little big door. I kicked that door in little LIKE I SAID. LIKE I SAID, >> YOU ARE LITTLE. LIKE I SAID, you're little. You're little as you couldn't do with it if you wanted to. Your mom with it. LIKE I SAID, PUT ME IN THE BACK. Bet you I take these hands off. I'mma show you something different. >> Shackle me. It's your best bet. >> Shackle me. >> Yeah. And I'mma SHOW YOU SOMETHING DIFFERENT. YOU BETTER check my last mug, son. I took them off. >> Yeah. I take them off. I'm going to take them off. Bet. >> Bet. THAT DOUBLE JOINT IN THE PHONE. Double join INTO THE PHONE. I'M taking it off. >> Yeah, that'll work. >> Yeah. Come on. I'm going show y'all something that this is up. I'm going to show y'all. >> If you If you me I cannot tell you no matter the world. I don't got to kick you. I don't got to >> sit down. Sit down >> here. Put me in the car. Little and she recording y'all. So if y'all do anything out of order, guess who? Guess who on camera? >> Anything we do is on camera. See the red lights on their chest. >> Anything we so mad about it. That's not even shot. I can get out of that. Oh, that's what I do. Push. Grab it. That's what I want you to do. Watch what I do. >> Once the situation was settled, officers returned inside the home and recorded the damage that had occurred. This was also when the overall circumstances became clearer based on the condition of the scene. >> I'm standing on my neighbor's property. >> I'm going to come out of all THIS little haha. here until the tow leaves. >> All right. Photos of uh both both doors. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Secure it. Fine. If there's not, then we'll just >> She apparently pays rent to both of them and she's the whatever of both. So she can secure >> beginning. >> She's claiming that she pays both. Gota >> Oh, she just told me to close the door. >> You're I'm going to go in there and take some pictures and then when I'm done, you can secure it. Okay. Just wait out here for a second. I'll come back out and you'll be good. Same dispatch. >> Your name is Brianna, right? Clear on that scene. We are off. Brianna, right? Brianna. >> Yeah. >> All right. You're going to secure it. >> Yeah. >> We didn't we didn't uh >> the door. >> We didn't break through that one, but but that door only has a dead bolt. So, >> is it closed? >> Yeah, I closed it. You can go check if you want to. >> That's a small >> This isn't where we wanted things to go. >> Yeah. Well, >> she had a misdemeanor. That was it. And now she has a felony. For what? >> For aggravated battery of police officials. >> Yeah. >> What what class felony is that? >> I don't know. It's either one or two. But she's it's a detention hold. She'll be in jail until her court date. >> Um like court date. >> Would it be in safety act? She'll have >> like court date as in like um she'll go before a judge. Today's Friday. She'll go before a judge >> Monday. Saturday. >> Probably Monday. She'll have a PC hearing on >> on Saturday. be recon. >> It'll depend on what the judge decides. >> Yep. >> Nope. >> The mother was charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated battery, resisting or obstructing a peace officer, and criminal damage to property along with a misdemeanor count of a child. Under Illinois law, she could face a maximum sentence of up to 12 years in prison. It is hoped that after moving through the legal process, she will still have the opportunity to reflect, recover, and choose a healthier direction in the future for the sake of her child. You might not realize how lasting the effects of uncontrolled anger can be. >> And I was just angry, and that's how I let it. >> On August 27th, 2024, officers were called to a neighborhood after a report that what seemed like a small disagreement between a husband and wife had quickly intensified. At the scene, they separated those involved to steady the situation and began recording statements from both sides. >> Sheriff's office, >> can you get her out of my house? >> She's hitting her. >> Stop. Stop arguing. Stop. Stop. >> Come outside real quick. >> YOU'RE A BAD DAD. HOW ABOUT THAT? >> COME OUT HERE REAL QUICK. >> Come out here. >> I'm not saying that. I'm saying we're going to step outside here. >> So, what happened, man? What's going on? >> I told him I wanted a divorce. So now he's doing all this stupid saying he's going to take my kid from me. >> Come right here. Relax. Come on. Let's talk. So at any point did you guys put hands on each other? >> Huh? >> I don't want to I don't want to I do not I didn't touch him. I did not touch him. I destroyed the house. I didn't touch him. >> Okay. >> All right. So what happened was we were sitting on the couch. One, our relationship's been going downhill. She's been going out partying every night. She's out till 3:00 in the morning last night just doing things she shouldn't do as a wife or a mother. So, we're sitting on the couch and we were talking about going to get dinner and I was like, "Listen, I'm not buying dinner for everyone tonight. Like, enough's enough. I paid for lunch today. I I'm just not doing it." She's like, "Fine, I'll do it." She runs storms out of the house. Then we just started kept arguing, kept arguing. She comes in the house and this is what you see. Disaster everywhere. She threw a chair and hit him these chairs. Then, as I'm on the phone with 911, you're like, "Buddy, little bruise. You may call rescue for you." >> He's hitting me and is walking around the house smacking herself in the face. Anyone the thing is she's throwing stuff glass everywhere now. Look broke. Put that back, buddy. I don't need you. >> Hey, buddy. I don't want you to get with a piece of glass. The >> PlayStation broke the TV blinds in our room. Threw everything. I mean, this is She's out of control. She's just ridiculous. >> So, once all that started happening, then what happened? >> I said, "I'm going to call 911." She's like, "Go ahead, call 911." So, I was on the phone with 911 the whole time. And then she's as as she's like, "You're not you're not sending me to jail. you're not taking me from my baby. And then it clicked in her head. He hit me and all of a sudden she just starts hacking herself. And then I went to take out my phone to video her. >> Can I see your hands real quick? I'm just uh >> Based on conditions observed at the scene and visible signs on the father. Officers believe the mother may have started the confrontation outside. However, she continued trying to present herself as the one most affected. >> He tried busting my my window out. Probably have it on camera. I'm trying to bust my window out. >> Disco vehicle. >> Yo, my car is right here. >> Okay. When I was leaving, I left and then I circled the neighborhood to go get my son because I didn't want to leave him here. And that's when he said he's going to take my kid from me and I'm a horrible mother and this and that because I told him I wanted a divorce. >> Okay. But in no time, he got any physical. You just pretty much just started >> I did not touch him. I started >> throwing stuff around and that's fine. Did the kid get hurt in anything in any way? No. Okay. Is your son inside the house? Did he witness everything? >> No, my son's not even here. He's at his friend's down the road. >> Okay. >> I thought he was here. You think he has somewhere that he can go stay or that you can go stay tonight to avoid any more arguments or any more? >> He can go to his mom's. >> Okay. Is your ID in your car or inside the house? >> Oh, your son was just there. I thought you said he wasn't here. >> That's his >> Oh, that's his son. >> What you got so far? Nothing. You said >> his leg. I don't think it was intentional from her. I think in her throwing the chairs around, they had the chair in the leg. M in the process of you tossing stuff around and throwing the chair around. So, we're going to look into it. See, I know it's nothing intentional. Probably upset throwing furniture around. You didn't realize he was that close. We're just going to look. Apparently, he has a video. We're just going to look at the video and see. >> We know it's nothing intentional. So, it really won't be like battery with intent like you intend. >> I'm going to go to jail. >> No, not yet. We haven't determined that yet. He's going to keep talking to him and we're going to see what's going on. Let me ask you something. Do you have somewhere you can go in case he doesn't want to leave the house? Do you have anywhere you can go in case he doesn't want to leave the house? No. >> Not unless I get a hotel. I really don't want to do that. >> Okay. Cuz here's the thing, like if it's if he determines if the deputy determines like if it was nothing intent and you are not going to jail, we definitely want you guys to separate for tonight to make sure this doesn't continue. We can't force you and we can't force him to leave the house because this is your house. You understand? You both live here. He kept trying to you need a wheel. Not in my house. >> Yeah. With that being said, I mean, we can try to suggest that one of you go somewhere at least until things cool down. So, we'll make the same suggestion to him to see if he wants to do it. But if he doesn't want to leave, then you know, and you don't want to leave and you guys stand up here, we're afraid that we're going to have to come back here again. >> We'll see if he's got them cameras pulled up with possibly going to be a 67 charge. She later described her actions as just a way to release emotions. But the central issue in this case was not the feeling itself. It was the impact. This time a child was caught in the middle of the adults conflict. >> They're starting to come up now. This is when we're This is where we were fighting. That's when she came out and started. She was in the living room. I just yelled at her. Get out. The dog's very protected. So we tried to go after her. I pulled her out. I'm calling the cops. That's what I'm telling her. She starts throwing stuff. The cane gets throw my cane. Get away. You know, this was in the bedroom. >> Yeah. You know, I'm trying to get Kane out of the house. I'm away from her. Here she goes. She starts throwing stuff getting in my face. I'm trying to hold the baby to get away. I'm telling his mom, Brandon, to get his mom out of the house. And then she starts throwing stuff cuz she knows. She starts throwing more stuff. So, I'm on the car. She's repping everything. He's >> such an to me being soing mean. I'm so >> ma'am, you can't go in the house right now. I can't. Why can't I go in the house? >> No, not until he's done speaking to him and in the investigation is done. >> Why is she here? >> Who is she? >> My mother-in-law. Hi. >> You are? >> Huh? >> You are? >> I'm I'm the son of my dad. It's my >> You live here? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. So, what could you tell me just from the start what happened? >> Um I He It all started with dinner. He's like, "What do you want for dinner?" I said, "Um, I want Chick-fil-A." And then I said, "Um, Brendon wants number one." That's my son. He said, "I'm not getting him food." I said, "Okay." So, I grabbed my shoes. I said, "I guess I'm going to go get me and my son some dinner." Then I he followed me out the house. I locked my door and then he my window and then he said I said, "You know what? I want a divorce. I don't want to do this anymore." So, yeah. I started throwing >> throwing stuff. >> Yes. And then he's like, "You need to get on comcast." I said, "Call him cuz you're not going to call him." And I'm just over it. He's so mean to me. He's such a bully. He acts like the victim and he's not. >> I got you. So, what uh what was the reason for like throwing all the stuff around? >> Um I was very frustrated. >> My mom's here. >> Yeah. >> Do you need the child that got hit with a chair or can she take him? >> As long as both parents agree. I mean, is only his son? I guess the oldest one is >> I'm baby mama number four. I should have, you know, learned. >> Oh, let me read you this real quick so I can keep asking questions. All right. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer. Do you understand your rights? >> Yes. >> Okay. So, what was the whole reasoning behind throwing stuff around? Just like out of anger or >> out of anger? Yes. I didn't want to um put my hands on anybody and I was just angry and that's how I let it out. I don't know >> cuz that's what I'm concerned with. I'm being told he got hit with a chair. Whether or not it's intentional, I can't say. But throwing things around can't be doing that. >> Yes, sir. >> We'll show you the video. Show the video. >> Yeah. It's doesn't show it. What' you tear the camera down for? Um because it makes him mad. >> Because it makes him mad. >> Yeah, I've done it before. It makes him mad when I turn the camera when I hit the hiccups. He only made the cameras because of me. It's nothing to do with burglary. He wants to watch me, see what I'm doing, see when I'm home, see when I'm leaving. He likes to keep tabs on me. >> Give me just a second. Hang out right here. >> Yeah. >> Once there was enough basis under the law, officers had to take formal action. The earlier anger shifted into worry, confusion, and regret. The question she repeated most was not about herself, but will this affect custody of my child? >> All right, real quick. Turn around. Hands behind your back for me. >> Why am I getting arrested? >> Throw in the chair and it hits him. >> I don't think that was from me. >> Well, it was because it's on the video of you throwing stuff around >> me. My eye. >> When I asked you if there was any physical contact, you said no. You told me. >> I said I didn't hit him. >> Yeah. And you said I said did he get in trouble? >> Did he hit you? Did you hit him? And you said no. >> I didn't want to get him in trouble. >> Let me see your eye. Which one? >> Never mind. Just >> Okay. So, I see your right there. >> That's fine. Let's go. >> Go out here. >> Can you turn my car off? >> Yeah. Yeah. I'll get that for you. We're going to go to the passenger side of this first car. Is >> this a misdemeanor or felony? >> It's felony. >> I didn't. >> I got you. Now, I don't think you meant to do it either, but that's part of it because when it's felony, I can't work with it. Okay. >> God, >> so normally like we got called here for domestic. Technically, yes, it's a domestic situation. Throwing chairs in a household can reasonably reasonable person, I would say, you could think if there's a kid there, they can beed by thrown objects and that's what it came down to. Okay. Do you want your keys to your car to go with you or you want to leave them here in the house? >> Do you want um me to grab a pair of shoes? Anything like that for you? >> I don't know. I don't know what to do. >> Here's your keys and phone. Let me go work on that. >> Keys and phone. Do you need wallet? Anything like that? >> I don't know. What do I need? I don't know. >> Normally just Well, I don't know. >> The felony is that bad. What do I >> It's It's just the misdemeanor and then felony. It's not like a capital felony. They're not going to give you the death penalty for it. >> Well, I know that. But >> but it's something that the state of Florida requires me to make an arrest on. Okay. But that doesn't mean you're immediately a convicted felon. The state's going to take a look at the case you >> and they're going to figure out what they are going to do with just as far as like my investigation goes. I don't have any say in what goes on. Do you want to leave the key? Is that your car or is it joint between you and him? So, okay. So, I'm going to leave the keys here because I don't want your car getting towed being parked out here in the road. Um, I'm going to get your wallet. Does that have Well, I've got your ID. Do you want or you want it to stay here? >> I don't really have a wallet. >> Do you have like bank cards? Anything like that? >> My wallet since as long as they're secured. How long have you and him been married? >> Seven years. >> Seven years. I got you. And y'all have >> Is he the one charges? >> State of Florida. >> But because the little boy listed as a victim cuz he's the one that got hurt from the state of Florida is acting as victim. Okay. on his behalf because he is a juvenile. Nobody's going for domestic because yes, tearing things up in the house is not a crime because it's marital property. You can tear up all the stuff you want, but when in the act of tearing that stuff up, the kid gets hurt. That's where that's why you're going to jail. Okay. What uh are there any specific shoes you want? I don't want you have to walk in there on the dirty floors bare feet. >> I guess slip-ons cuz I can't put on any tennis shoes. >> Oh, they're going to give you a pair in there just for when you go in and when you get out. So, I'll go get some shoes. I'm going to leave the keys here though. Okay. Give me just a few minutes. She is going to go with me. Would you >> that you can just slide on like little tons or does she need like slip on? >> Flip flops would even work just so she don't have to walk on the jail floor when we get there and bare feet. Would you be willing to write a statement on what happened? >> So if he tries to take my kid from me, that's going to look really bad, right? >> That's something that >> that's something that they will look at, but that's not the end all be all of everything. >> Take my baby. >> I got you. And a big part of it is like I told you, I don't think you meant to do it, but it's something that happened. That's why we're in this situation. >> Do you think there's a strong possibility of charges being dropped or No, >> I can't say. That's totally up to the judge. So, you're the first time you're going to talk to a judge is tomorrow morning. Okay. Real quick, you don't have any pocket knife or anything on you, do you? No bullets in your pockets, anything like that? Okay. Nothing that's going to be contraband in the jail cuz I forgot to ask. some jewelry. >> Jewelry. Okay. >> The mother was charged with child impairment. Under Florida law, she could face up a one-year in prison. This situation is a reminder that everyone has moments of weakness, but in the hardest times, staying calm is not only a personal choice. It's also a gift to those we love, especially children. >> I don't know, man. Just put me in this. Okay. Send me to jail. All right. You know that's what the you're going to do, man. >> Just a few minutes later, officers would assist him in following through on that request. On March 5th, 2025, police responded to a home after receiving a report of a conflict between two adults in the presence of children. At the scene, they began collecting information from the mother. She shared that her boyfriend had started the incident while not in a clear state of mind. >> Uh, where is he? >> Uh, that's fine. If you just want to put some shoes on a second, >> man. I >> All right, man. I'll talk to you in a second. Okay. I just want to talk to you. We're not at that point right now. >> Can you uh >> go to 51 706 83rd year old male fell out of bed. He's home with his wife. >> Do you mind if I talk? >> What's his name again? >> Very good. >> Hey, what's what's his name upstairs? >> Martin. >> Martin. Okay. And he's your boyfriend. What does he teach you? >> He is my significant. He's also a father of my children. >> Okay. All right. >> Hey, Mark. What's up, man? >> All right. Just step out really quick. He's not going to make it operative. All right. So, what what happened? So, he came home from work intoxicated. Okay. And whenever we went about our business, he went he went to bed. He went to smoke a cigarette downstairs. He was mad at me from earlier previous situations and went downstairs and I asked him, "Do you want me to go to bed with you?" He's like, "Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope." I'm like, "What did I do?" Then he got in my face, pushed me. He like grabbed me from I don't want that to you. He grabbed me from my hair. He yanked me stuff from downstairs. >> From your shoulders or >> from my hair? >> Grabbed your body or >> like my clothing like Well, he pushed me while he was doing it cuz I have no problem. So like he grabbed me from my hair and he's like And then where did he >> push you to get away from you guys? Was he trying to get away or like what was the situation? What was going on? >> Because for some reason like I'm just trying to ask him, can I go to bed with him tonight? He wanted to go back like back on previous stuff and said, "No, you can't sleep with me." I'm like, "Why? What did I do to you all day?" And >> was he trying to you away from him or was he like coming towards you or how did that happen? And it wasn't because you were you weren't in front in front of him blocking him or anything like that. You >> I was not blocking him. I was not stopping his way. >> He just came towards you. And so what did he do to you? Like Martine, what did I do to you? And he got up from the chair from downstairs and he like and he grabbed me from down. >> He grabbed you and the you >> into the wall. If you see down the stairs in the basement, you see what I'm talking about. It's the wall right here and the chair over here by the bar and some like what am I possibly doing to you? And he grabbed me and he pushed me and then he mushed my face. >> What do you mean by that? Like he put How did he >> like like he went like like say this is your face and he went like this. >> Okay. Like pushed it out of the way. Yeah. Like he I'm pretty sure he scratched me a little bit. I'm not sure. It feels like he did. >> Okay. Do you need medics or anything? >> No, no, no, no. Just scratches. Like I know this man's not dirty or whatever. So I know. But that's all he did. But I told him like if you put your hands I mean probably did your kids see what happened or were they upstairs? >> I'm not sure if they seen all of it but I know my oldest daughter came up downstairs and said and told us to stop and that's why I called the police. >> How many kids do you have? >> I have four. all together with each other or? >> Yes, they're all from him. >> Okay. He's not home at a later date and there's in the house and you're not comfortable with it. >> He's not filming and I'm scared that he has that. >> So, my question to you right now is, do you want to have him like are you willing to sign complaints against him for domestic battery? I'll be right back. Just hang out right here. >> Do you want me to go to the side so you guys can bring them out? >> Yeah, if you want to wait on the side. >> His earlier request soon became reality as he now had to address the legal consequences of the situation. We're not getting any feedback. >> We just going off of what somebody else gave us. And we have a we got a picture >> if what ma'am on And again, like I said, ma'am, we are trying to confirm, but that's the lead that we have that we're working with. >> Unfortunately, defects, we can't do anything without a case. We need a case in order to. And right now, we don't have a case. >> What do you mean you don't have a case, ma'am? >> I don't have a case. They didn't send over a case. Did you make this into an actual case? Did you make a report? >> This is the thing. When I called, they transferred me to you and told me based on the severity and we have the child here, we needed to speak to you and then we'll generate whatever report. I'll call back the initial number. >> Okay. So, you have to call back to make a report. That's what they were told. That you need to call back to make a report. Is that what they told you? >> Ma'am, they said after I speak to you and I give you the information, after I guess you do whatever you have to do, then I call them back afterwards. >> I can't do anything. I need I need to pay. I'm sorry. >> All right, ma'am. Thank you. >> Once records were confirmed, CPS sent a social worker to the scene. >> Thank you for calling the Georgia Child Protective Services Intake Communication Center. >> On the way. Hello officer. Let me get your name and information and I'll just generate I'll just put a child that's been found with no caregiver and that just send them on out there. I'll go ahead and get um the information that you provided will be staffed with a supervisor and the county be notified of decision. So I'm going to go ahead so I could complete the report so I can Okay, you have a safe. >> So question question. What else would you need from me? Is there anything else? Do I have to call back? Is somebody going to contact me and let me know what's happening or how does this go? >> No, you you shouldn't have to call back. I'm going to call the county and tell them I got an immediate I'm going to send this report to them. >> All righty. So, yeah, uh my case manager um like I said, she's on her way. So, she already got an estimated EPA from her. >> That's the case manager from DeFax. >> Correct. Yes. >> The mother arrived shortly after, but the information she gave was not entirely consistent, complicating the case. He's outside and he'll want to detain him. >> So you want So where were you? >> At work this entire time. >> You got proof of that that you >> Well, I can show you my tips. I was at work all night. I can show you my Where can I show you? >> Do you have any ID first? >> Um on the phone. I got my ID on my phone. >> Yeah, no problem. >> My lady. >> Where is he? >> Where was he this whole time? He was watching her and he said he get something to eat. >> You want to get something to eat? >> Sweet. He said he said >> what do you guys think? >> He was at the best American. We already in a situation we can't afford. >> We already He said she went to sleep. He left to get something to eat. So you barricade the door. So go get something to eat. >> You see what time it is now? >> All right. You know what time your daughter was home? >> Mm-m. They had her at 6:00 p.m. We got there at 8:00 p.m. It is now what time in the morning? >> Who had her at 6:00 p.m.? >> This is what I'm trying to tell you. This makes absolutely no sense. I'mma wait, but let me get your information. >> Oh, you said it. >> Ma'am, let me just get your information. >> This problem. >> The stepfather also appeared. He explained that he had briefly left the child in the room while going to work and to get food. Also, he acknowledged it may not have been the first time such a situation occurred. My LT said she was all the way back as well. These are the individual girls there. That's that's the mom. I guess the boyfriend, but I didn't ask any questions. I was waiting for when the LT comes cuz I was going to do them random, but I'll just wait. See what LT wants to do. >> Okay. Then I'll wait. >> Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Yeah. >> Oh, you're the bottom. >> Are you dad? >> Yes. >> So, I'm going to read both you guys if Amanda writes. Do you understand these rights? >> Thank you. >> Does she understand? I didn't hear. >> You understand these rights, man. I need you to verbally say yes or no. When was the last time you saw the baby? Around 6:00 p.m. >> Yeah. Close to 7 p.m. >> Close to 7:00 p.m. Where was the baby the last time you saw a baby? Laying in the bed. >> Laying in the bed. Did you leave the baby in the room alone? Can you tell me why you left the baby alone? >> She was sleep. I remember like >> where do you work at town? >> Uptown comedy corner. And are you just getting home? And >> when you walked in the room, what happened? >> At what time did you get back to the hotel? >> Probably left after 1 something. I was probably too. >> So, you do know that leaving a child, a baby alone in the room is is is to your children. >> Is there any reason why you didn't get a baby set up for the baby? >> I took her to work. I went to go get some food at 12. I went to get set baby. She has her own thing where she gets up open doors and full door knocks. This is not the first time this happened. Tap in another hotel. She ran out the hall and she would say everything was fine. I felt I laid around everything was good. But when I left, she still typically woke up. She said that door was wiggling and wiggling kept going cuz she came to open the door, but she keep pulling and pulling all night and she pulled back and she probably feel like I don't know what's going on. >> So, are you saying that you noticed that she was missing before the mother? >> No, I had to go to meet the mother. I'm just not noticing. In other words, once you dropped off at work, you never went back to the home. >> I went back doing that lay. >> So, if you didn't get up until 12:00 or 1:00 in the morning, the child been the child been in the hotel roaming around since about 6:00 or maybe 7. So, you never went back. >> 8:12. >> Midnight? >> Yes. >> I just had to come back. >> She get off. >> No, no, it's okay. I got some time. >> Listen to what? >> She get off at 12. >> Listen to me. You didn't see the baby at midnight. You didn't see the baby at midnight. You know why I know? Ask me how. Ask me how I know. Cuz the baby was with me. I have the baby. I've had that baby since 8:00. >> 8:00 to the >> So, are we saying So, so, so is it fair to say that? Are you the the real father, the biological father of the baby or are you my boyfriend and you just step up as a dad? >> Mine was correct. Yes, correct. >> Is that correct? >> Okay. Police continued to gather information from both parents while CPS took steps to ensure the baby's safety. >> Because this is your child, this is your your responsibility. You understand what I'm saying to you? So, you are going to be charged with children. Now, before we take you into custody, I'm going to go ahead and ask the social worker if she has any questions for you. Is there someone that you can leave the baby with? Custody wise comfort. I need her to be able to get here. I might have you sign some forms saying that you're willing to let him take temporary custody until everything's resolved. Okay. That just kind of gives us an idea of where the child is and what's going to be going on. Okay. As a heads up, we will be having another case worker reach out during the daytime. They'll be contacting you, sir, and we'll be keeping tabs away from my baby. My baby just >> You just told me that you are the biological father. You told me that you are the biological dad. And so if that's the case, you're both equally responsible. >> I'm not just asking you to answer her. >> All right. So is that not your Okay. >> I am going to get her to sign to do that before she goes there. >> Sure. Have you got any other family members around here? >> You have any other family members? Sister, mother, >> anybody in the area that could provide care for the child? >> Huh? >> Uncle Joe. >> Uncle Joe? >> Where does Uncle Joe live? You have Uncle Joe's phone number. Any contact. At this point, the mother realized the seriousness of the situation and grew visibly concerned when told that temporary care arrangements might be necessary. I never know like >> and I understand that the child anything could have happened to the child the same way people get charged with children and vehicle people get charged with their babies at home and unfortunately right I can't leave my baby in the courts I can't leave my I listen my baby gone and I can't leave my baby. I can't leave my baby. I ain't never spent a day away from my baby. Never. Not one day away from my baby. Ever. Ever since the day she was born. Not a day away from her. Not a day. Not a day. And we in a situation. This is one time where she can't be away from me. I can't leave her out here. I just started a job. We just trying to figure it out. I can't leave my baby. Understand it does not You do not have to charge me with to children. I'm not doing clothes and brand new clothes. >> Listen listen to me, man. It's a lot of people out here doing some [ __ ] up to kids. I know it. I despise it. I'm not that. I don't deserve it. Everything I do for my kid, everything I do, every every breath I take, every time I get up in the morning, my intention is to take care of my babies. This is just this is just a situation where something really up happened and I up and I understand that I up. But I don't deserve to be charged with to children. I understand. I understand the law. I get it. But right now, my life is not I'm not in a position to leave my baby. I can't leave my home. I can't leave my baby. I can't leave my baby. I can't She can't be away from me. I can't let her sleep away from me. Ma'am, I can't. >> So, I'm going to go over some things with you. Okay. My job. I'm not with the police. Whatever they decide to separate. >> If you got any power in you, please. You got it. >> Let's listen to what she has to say. >> Girl, should we have to take that order? >> Okay. >> After many discussions, she gradually agreed to a temporary placement with a trusted caregiver to ensure the baby's wellbeing. >> I'm going to give you some paperwork. Okay. This is very basic stuff that we're going to go over right now. Okay. You may be asked to sign other things later. Okay. This just tells you information we gathered during the course of our investigation. It's completely separate from there. >> So, maybe going defect. >> We don't know what's going to happen right now. You mentioned an uncle Joe. If we can get some contact information >> because I know how to get my baby for for defense. >> My baby not going to defense. Y'all don't take my baby. >> We do want to try and place her with family so we can get the content. >> Don't love my baby like I love my baby. Okay. >> Yeah, she got a house and everything. >> What's up number 770? >> Let me write this down. >> Come on, y'all. >> I'm going to need you to sign, ma'am. Okay. I can't control what's happening right now, but what I can do is make sure that your baby girl goes to Uncle Joe and that she is taken care of and that she is well cared for. Okay? So, if you work with me, I can promise you that we will find Uncle Joe and we will get him, you know, and try and get him to help provide care. Okay? >> It's female. Mom Joe, that's why she be. So, because you were involved in this situation and part of the reason that the baby was left unattended was because you left the room, we can't guarantee that that won't happen again until we assess further. So, for right now, we have to place her with someone that we believe would be able to provide that. When we call Uncle Joe, we are going to do some checks, background checks, stuff like that before we release the child into his care. Okay? I can't control this. I don't want to hold you that. Okay? All I can do is make sure that your baby is taken care of. But for that to start, I need you to work with me and help me. Okay. >> The only way you can guarantee she's going to be taken and she will help me. >> Oh, I can't do that. >> I can't stop the police. That's outside my power. There was a crime committed and so they do have to make a charge. Okay. >> Throughout the process, police and CPS worked closely to resolve the matter while prioritizing the child's interests. Your child was attended from 6:00 p.m. to 900 p.m. Officers were there, asked everyone, spoke to everyone. No one was there. Gave you guys multiple opportunities. No one called, no one came. It is now almost 4 a.m. You made a statement. Your child has never slept away from you. Your child is sleeping soundly now because of us. We took care of her cuz none of you guys did it. >> Ma'am, please. >> Please just listen. I just want you to listen. We did this. This is not what we wanted. Nobody contacted us. You know what's 3 hours for a toddler >> outside with no shoes on? I have 11 kids. That's unheard of. >> But no problem. I have 11 and I've never done that ever. I know where all of my kids are right now. >> Are you sure? >> No problem. >> Cuz you as a man, you should step up and take this cuz you child, not her. >> She wants to work. So trust me, I don't want to hear from you right now. I just want you to understand that we're what we have to do. We have no choice. This is why I took an oath. >> No, I don't. I don't. >> If I don't do anything, I go to jail. >> Thank you. >> So, trust me on this. >> Lieutenant, we came here to let her so we so y'all bull crap. Let her tell y'all what we do. We have to do. And not even to mention I'm like had no shoes on >> outside. I can't I can't right now. You need you need to focus on this. >> I'm listening to you. Talk to me here cuz you got secrets. Listen as a man. You need to step up please based on what she told me initially with you. So you are the you are the irresponsible as a man that's crazy and that's that that's what I got to read paper right now. >> There's nothing I can do. >> I'm not going to get signatures. So go ahead. >> I'm just going to have to notice she's unable to sign. >> Ma'am, whatever you have in your pocket, anything, you can give it to the gentleman. Let let him hold it for you. >> Okay. >> Yeah. I love to talk to the baby with my baby. >> That's the thing. She She's going to make it harder. She's going to make it harder. >> Y'all make me call somebody. Y'all, come on. Y'all understand. >> No problem. We do understand. You will make a call. It's no problem. You going to make a call. >> Somebody please just listen. What about my baby? >> No. Listen to her. Let her explain it to you. Just let her explain that to you real quick. We get that over. >> If you find a neighbor that will help you help your baby, okay? You love your baby. You want to help her. The best thing you can do in this moment is sign these papers and help me help her. Okay. All right. This explains all of that. So, I'm gonna ask you to sign that paper right there saying you understand. So, right now, we're going to make the plan for Okay. >> Authorities also conducted further assessment of the family situation before completing the procedures. >> You'll be good. Like your jewelry, you know, you can't walk with that. Whoever else you have, he did give you some money. You can hold on to that, but everything else you can give it to him. One female in custody. Yeah, that she she don't have to do it. She don't have to take that off and go down anyway. You went to work. The boyfriend was left with the young girl with your daughter and then apparently he went for food but he never came back. That is our work. I >> No, but I'm saying I mean to be honest and you heard what I told him. >> I'm my whole thing is honestly he should have been a man who stepped up and taken responsibility and not have everything fall on me. But obviously it's neither here or there. But I'm just trying to cover all the bases cuz I'm saying me personally, what I would have done, I would have arrested both of you guys. >> Mhm. >> Just based off of that alone by default because you did even leave her in his care. That's me personally. But my lieutenant came and she said what she said. I just want to make sure I got everything from you. There's no faults anything there. So you did say you you got a lift. You went to work. Your boyfriend did not drop you, but he picked you up from work. So that whole time you never went back then. If that's the case, that is ours. That is not cool at all. All right. So, >> I mean, no. Um um we're we're working on that. The minute I get an answer, I'll let you know. I'm not I'm not going to have anything from you. I'm going to do everything. My question to you now, you said that you're no longer residing anywhere. You're sort of the you're basically homeless now. >> All right. So, that part I can't put in. But everything else is accurate. Can you give me your social just based on the charge? There's no court date that'll be assigned to you when you put on the Fton Fton. >> Yeah. So, right. So, that's how that's going to go. >> The mother was charged with firstdegree cruelty to children, deprivation of necessary sustenance.
