It came in as a non-breather, but she ended up being up. >> Here's what she did. Come here. >> What she did? What did you mean? >> That's a gun. The police were not there to blame anyone, but to quickly step in and prevent a chain of decisions from causing serious impact. >> I bet y'all be so like this. Shut the >> This mother was not fully ready to take responsibility for caring for a young child. So concern naturally shifted to the neighbor who showed a stronger sense of responsibility in this situation. September 11th, 2022, police were called to a residential area following reports of a disagreement between the mother and the neighbor. The neighbor had observed signs of inadequate care and contacted the support agency, which increased tension between the two adults. >> Everything all right? >> You know what? Everything is fine. I don't need y'all police here. Thank you for having >> Okay. Well, we got a call here, so we got to respond. Okay, >> let's go. I'm sorry. Y'all don't have a warrant. Get the >> Okay. Well, there's kids here, so we got to check it out. Okay. >> I'm sorry. Hi buddy. >> Hi. >> So, we uh talked to the neighbor. She said that basically there was a kid walking down the road. So, she grabbed the kid, came up here, and one of the neighbors said that it belongs to this house. So, she >> So, she just was yelling and screaming, acting like a jerk >> pretty much. And she said she was drunk. Her main concern was that she was going to get in the car and try to drive away with the kids. I'm going to drive this neighbor over here. Do you have any idea what's going on over here? >> Yeah, we didn't mean to get into it with her or anything, but her baby was in the middle of the road. And this isn't the first time it's been the middle of the road. So my wife just went over there and she was passed out in the van. The baby was running around. The other kids were running around. So we just wanted to make sure the baby was okay. She said, "Well, you you're probably the people that call DCFS. I'll fight you and scrape you off the mother." >> And it was just check here in the black. I I can tell. >> I don't know if she's drunk or what's wrong with her. >> All right. >> I don't know what's wrong with her. Yeah, she's probably or something. >> Yeah, >> I'm worried. I'm worried about the kids say. Yeah, we'll we'll go ahead and contact DCFS and let them know some stuff's going on out here. >> We were just looking out for the kids. >> Sure. Yeah. And that's the main thing right here. We're we're more worried about the kids than we are about her. We don't really care about her. She's obviously a little insane. So, go for >> I didn't touch you. No, she didn't. >> Well, actually, it'd be good if she comes over here cuz then we can talk to her. >> I got my kid in my >> We got We got cameras, too, so you can see that clearly. her mother trying to hold me back. >> You better shut your mouth. >> Try to hold me back >> cuz your baby was running down the road. >> I know. You're all right. We appreciate you. >> When approached, the mother became highly agitated, emphasizing her privacy and insisting she could care for her child despite challenges, highlighting a conflict between personal rights and child safety. >> She just tried to fight me. She just tried to come up on me. Actually, her woman right there in a blue shirt had to pull her back. So, hold on. Can I please file? Can I please file because I'm scared. I'm scared. I'm scared for my livelihood. I'm scared for my I'm scared for my safety. I'm scared for my safety that she is going to me because >> her woman just had to fight her back. >> Her woman just had to pull her back >> from fighting me, baby. Didn't she Did her woman had to fight her back, didn't she? I'm not lying to you. Her woman just had to pull her halfway across the street not to fight me. So, can I file a complaint? No. Oh, now you want me to relax, right? >> Yes. Talk to me. >> Okay. Okay. Okay. >> So, you said you're drunk. Why are you drunk? >> Cuz I can be drunk if I want to in my house at any time. What you mean? >> Cuz you're taking care of some babies. >> So, what? I don't give a what you do. I do. No. No. I can talk to you any kind of way. You can't come at me. I don't got >> So, now we're conducting an investigation. >> I don't have to do how you do to make you relax. You're going to get >> I want to file a complaint because she just threatened me to whoop my ass. >> So, I want to file and write a written complaint because she's calling police on me. So, I need to file a written complaint cuz her girlfriend right there in that blue shirt had to hold her back from this point. Actually, actually, it was this point. >> It was this point. It was this point. She took her girlfriend and she held her by her arm, dragged her across the mother [ __ ] This what she did here. This what she did. I did. What you mean? >> Nobody said that they called on us. >> No, no, no, no, she didn't. >> She did not. >> She did. Oh, yes, they did. They said they called the police. They told me they calling the police. >> Well, then they lied cuz they didn't call us. >> You're not going in the house. >> You're not going in the house. >> I do not have >> needs to go in the house right now. >> No, you're not. >> Everybody go in the house. She's okay. Everybody go in the house. Okay. Don't threaten me. >> Okay. So, if >> that is going to have me arrested, >> Danielle, we don't have to do it this way. Okay, just relax. Okay, that's >> I relax, but you guys are sitting here doing this little investigation. Okay, there's no >> investigation. You're yelling and screaming. >> She is the one who came up to my [ __ ] >> You have somebody that can stay with the kids. You are too intoxicated to be care. Take a breathalyzer. Take a breathalyzer and tell me I'm not too >> Here's what we're going to do. Okay. >> Take a breathalyzer and tell Take a breathalyzer and tell me am I too drunk? We're going to take care of everything. Okay. >> Thank you. It's warm. For real. I didn't do my house. Y'all came to my seat. >> Relax. >> She's going to be fine, buddy. >> It's okay. >> This is what y'all doing, right? >> Need a chill. >> This what y'all doing? >> It's okay, honey. >> Just go in the house. >> So, this is mom's. >> You know what? Go in the house and lock the door. >> I am not doing anything wrong. >> You're making things a lot worse. >> I am not making things anything worse. I am at my house. I have roast on the pot. >> Get in the house and lock the door now. Everybody listen to me now. No. >> Jump in. >> I am not. >> You are you will go to jail. >> Sit down. I'm already going to jail. What the [ __ ] are you talking about? What are you talking about, you stupid mother? >> No, you're not. Because if you were, you see all my five kids. I take care of them all with no help. >> No help. >> What do we got her in custody for? >> Amid worry, frustration, and concern, she repeatedly insisted she had done nothing wrong and had tried hard to be a good mother. >> She took a bad time. We could do act bad. All right, get her out of here. But we're going to take you down the road here. Okay. >> There's no reason to. My kids are here. >> I understand your kids are here. >> No. Because >> But you're also super drunk. >> Danielle, you can't not a cop. >> I've not done nothing wrong. I haven't been trying to pro nothing. My kids are taken care of. I work in I work 70 hours a week. What are you talking about? I hate this [ __ ] I hate this thing. I swear to God, I God won't try to help nobody. You think you're taking me up the road. Where are you taking me? I haven't done nothing wrong at all. Like, what are y'all taking me to jail for? >> The aggravated battery of a peace officer. >> I haven't done nothing. Aggravated battery to who? >> You took a swing on the other officer. >> Done nothing. No, I had to swear to God. The officer grabbed your arm. You can't swing back on him. >> What do y'all do with my kids? >> We got a bunch of officers there with them. They're not going to be any trouble. >> What do you mean? I have everything. >> They're going to be fine. >> Y'all areing about to my life up. I have not done anything to be arrested on some real [ __ ] I have not done a thing. >> All right. Well, I'm going to take you up to the >> I have not done nothing. >> Listen, I'm going to take you up to the PD. We can talk about it. >> Saying that, but I haven't done nothing. be taken away. I've got all my kids there. Ain't nobody there. >> Danielle, I'm not trying to >> You are >> throw the book at you. Okay. >> Somebody already called DCFS. >> Nobody's called DCFS. >> Nobody has because they called me. I got paperwork on it. I don't get it. >> When was that? >> Less than a week ago. I just got the paperwork in the mail. >> Have you done with us last week? >> I've not done nothing. I talked to the DCFS worker when I'm telling you I have not done nothing. I work in building. I work 60 to 70 hours a week. I work my ass off. Y'all are arresting me for no reason. I don't even know why I'm being arrested. >> I told you already. Aggravated a battery. I can charge you with obstructing if you'd like. >> Battery. I said nothing. >> No, we'll charge you with obstructing. Then we'll charge you with obstructing. >> I don't hit nobody. That is not what I do. >> You need to chill out. All right. >> No. No. Y'all are lying. >> All right, we're done talking. >> Y'all are lying. I don't hit people. All my kids going to TC, right? >> Nobody said that, Daniel. >> Obviously, they are because they What do you mean? >> How old is your oldest? >> My oldest kid is 15. What do you mean, >> chicken baby? >> Y'all me for what? Cuz I'm doing fine. So why I want to get drunk on my off day? So what? >> Nobody's saying you're in trouble for being drunk. >> What? I take care of everything about my kids. Don't go to their daddies. Don't none of them. Well, that shame on their daddies. >> So, here's the deal, Daniel. We're going to go as fast as you let me go, okay? All right. Listen, listen. The more calm you are, and the quicker we can do this, you just got to >> You just just got to chill out for me. >> Y'all should understand from my point of view, my son's going out the road dancing while I'm in the car playing the music. So, what? That's how kids used to have fun back in my day. I'm not doing wrong. >> This behavior continued even during questioning with emotions intensifying despite the police's calm attempts to explain the purpose of their visit and offer reassurance. >> I haven't done nothing wrong. Okay. I take care of my kids. >> I appreciate that. That's fantastic. >> Well, what's wrong with it then? Like, why are these people talking like they're lying on me? I haven't done gun death. >> Are you going to be chill? >> I'm chill. I just don't get it. I've dealt with this [ __ ] all my life since I've been 12. I'm 36. >> I've been dealing with DCFS and police all my life. >> Okay. So, like I said, we got to get through all this paperwork. I got to get your info. We got to do the thinking process and then we'll get you home to your kids. Okay. >> Okay. Well, what about the drama is going to cause >> the trauma? >> Yeah. >> I can't tell you there. I mean, I care about the kids here. Okay, we need to act a little better now. >> What the arrested? Why am I being arrested? >> You're being arrested for obstructing. >> You're being arrested for aggravated battery. >> Okay. Well, we get through this. Like I said, it's going to go faster. >> Anything. >> What's your phone number, Daniel? >> There's no need for across the street to accuse me of her in her bag. There's no reason for that. What you going to call police? What? Cuz I swear up. What the What is it? What is it? I'm not going to call police on you. I bet y'all lives piss off. I bet y'all lives be so dead. Y'all be like shut the shut up and you know what? That's how I feel with my kids. >> Your kids, but I do. Do you want to get home to your kids tonight? >> Then you need >> then you need to listen to me and cooperate. >> I can't do [ __ ] till we get this done. >> People sit down. I ain't do nothing. >> You're slow. >> Arrest me either cuz I haven't done [ __ ] in my life stupid. >> You ain't going to call your kids stupid either. >> Oh, I bet you doing kyog. >> In the end, she still did not fully understand that the meeting's goal was to ensure the child's well-being, not merely to resolve disagreements with the neighbor. considering putting her in the drunk tank until she calms down so we can actually process her correctly. >> Yeah. >> Please don't do that. >> They try to beat me up and I'm trying to pick them up and then call the cops. >> The longer you act, >> you don't want that big. pretty nice. >> That's how she look. That's how she looks. She looks off the top left. >> Danielle search her and then we're going to throw her in the cell. >> We've got to search you. Okay. >> Do you have anything on you, Danielle? You guys take me home. >> Danielle, listen. >> I want to take you home. You've got to prove to me you're ready to go home. I'm ready to go home. You guys aren't trying to save me. >> Let's go in the cell for a minute. >> Can I please not do that? I just want to go home. >> In order to get you home, we got to get you in the cell for a little bit. >> Please. That's what we got to do to get me home. >> If you break something, you're going to be >> I've got to break. >> Stop pounding on my desk. >> I'm not What about them? >> Let them. Let's get Daniel. >> We're not doing anything until you stop screaming. Well, we were sitting in the living room while she had her music playing roll out. The horn started going off. So, it went for a long time and then it went off. Well, it went off again. We look out the door and I tell my wife, I said, "Oh my god, she's in the car. She looks like she's passed out." And her little baby ran out into the road around the stop sign. He took off out into the road and the next thing you know, my wife went out to get the baby because I mean, he's running down the middle of the road. It's a baby. >> Yeah. Absolutely. So then we walked up and she's still just sitting in her car with the music cranking. Her kids are running everywhere. We had to peck on the door like two or three times just to get her to acknowledge we were there. And we're like we're your baby was out in the street. We're just bringing him back over to you. And she's like, "My baby's fine." She started going off on us and saying we called somebody called DCFS on her and whatnot. But we did have words in the street. You know, nobody touched you. I didn't touch her. She didn't touch me. But we did have quite a few words. She did say it's war between us now. So, >> I highly doubt she's going to even remember that when she wakes up. So, you probably have a whole lot to worry about. >> The mother was charged with resisting or obstructing a peace officer, firefighter, or correctional institution employee, being a pedestrian under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and injuring the life or health of a child. Under Illinois law, she could face up to two years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Child's safety must always come first. Timely observation, calm intervention, and appropriate action can protect children while giving families a chance to reflect and make positive changes. A young girl stood on a fragile boundary. An aunt left the scene, and the family was left with a haunting question. What happens when no one is watching in time? >> We found your sister. We don't know what happened, sir. They're my baby. My baby. What happened to my baby? What happened? On August 23rd, 2024, police received reports about an incident involving a 4-year-old child and her maternal aunt. At the scene, the child was reported to be in very serious condition, but fortunately received timely assistance. The family, including the mother and her children, had already arrived at a medical facility before support personnel arrived. The aunt, however, left with incorrect personal information. 104 out with so I'm here with right now is what it >> they left already. >> Oh, I'm sorry. >> All right. So, I got here, little girl was up. It came in as a non-breather, but she ended up being up. The little boy that was here said, "My mom's sister lived with us, but she's not here. She left." He goes, "She's the one that did it." Now, he said she was on the side. I'm here because I just want to hold the scene. Everybody left. But he said the mom's sister is the one that her mom said she was outside. I don't know if she it was on the side. >> So they took the the girl >> girl was at Yeah. They transported. She was going they wanted you to go >> 107 to 109. I was >> Oh yeah. >> So I don't know if there's anything out here. >> Let's go see inside first, right? >> Yeah. I'll take >> So when we got here, they had her in the back. Oh, we know your diapers and everything. You actually everything. >> Yeah. Now, she was she was stuck up pretty good. She had like two huge lash on her arm, but then her face I don't know if she or did something, but she had coming out of her ear, too. >> The kid >> the kid the little kid did. Yeah. Yeah. The little boy was the brother. He's the one. He He's with the mom. So, the mom, the brother, and the little girl that got st they're all in the ambulance on their way to Joe's. >> I see. So, there's no one here but us. >> Just us. The girl who he said did it, her name is Mabel and it's the mom's sister. >> Mabel mom sister. >> Yeah. >> Mhm. >> There LT. Uh we're at 390 10th A, but we there's no one in the house. We have it secured. The entire family is at the hospital. They were gone prior to our arrival. It look like whatever happened, they try to go in the bathroom, wash it off because you can see you can see and stuff like that. It's watered down, right? >> Mabel. Yes, Mabel. >> And um go do what you got to do. >> We were We went inside. This house is We got to go. Like this house is in shambles. There's road. It's it's it's um >> in the wall. That's not >> No, that that that's old like syrup or something like that. But you can see in the bathroom we have here right over there 11. But that old though, who knows how long this was here that that's Yeah, that's what I'm saying. >> Where's the the mother? >> The whole entire >> the house went to the to the hospital. >> Yeah. >> Why? It they were all >> No, no, it was the mother. It was the four-year-old and it was another all minors. The mom left with her two kids, the aunts, the daughter. That's the statement that they gave the fire department. But when we got here, obviously, they had to take that kid. And I mean, you can see this right here too has uh let me just put a rock on it. >> This has little fatter on it. >> You see it? So, according to the wind, the neighbors, these kids are out every hour of the day. They're roaming the street. The little girl is always out here, even 2:30 in the morning. You're 500. Oh, that's uh Captain >> Mabel. >> Mabel. Yeah, Mabel. So, according to what the fire department said, yeah, they went in, looked at her, they tried to clean her up, and they felt like a >> He really couldn't tell us. It was It was bad, and he just rushed her out of here. And you have that obvious, >> I guess. I mean, we don't we didn't when we got here, it was just the chief >> here. The fire was already gone. >> At the hospital, medical staff worked diligently to stabilize the child while support personnel tried to reassure the family. Even though the child had been in a high-risisk situation, no one in the family could clearly explain what had happened. You said >> I didn't know. >> That's perfect. Thank you so much. Best of luck to you guys. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> The doctor will be over here with some updates when they're done with your daughter. Okay. >> Okay. >> But she she was awake. I did see her. >> She was awake. >> No, because the way they gave out the call was very different. So, we were like, "Wow." You know, when I saw her awake, I very happy. >> I was I had her in the I had her in a tub and I was trying to put warm water on her cuz I don't know how Oh. It's okay. You did the right thing. You only do what you can do. >> I poured warm water and then um I started putting water on the on the on the on the >> open things. >> This is my storage. Okay. I start putting it on thing and she's jumping like this and maybe it um maybe it was like her something but it wasn't too hot. It was warm. >> Okay. >> It was just right cuz I know the temperature. She even likes water harder hotter than water. >> Was just trying to Oh my god. Water all over her face. She had dirt all over her face. >> She had dirt all over her face. >> Was she outside originally? playing and then she had a bad feeling cuz she didn't hear her for a while and then she went I think the sun went out first and you saw her in the floor >> in the backyard. >> Yes. He thinks she fell from a tree. That's what you believe. >> Mhm. But if she got that many just from falling off a tree. >> How we found your sister? We don't know what happened to her. I said my baby. My baby. What happened to my baby? What happened? What happened to my baby? >> Was there anyone else in the house besides you guys? There was my my mom's my mom's sister May. >> My sister. But um she had she wasn't there. >> Mommy made just a little update for you. They're still working on her. She has a little oxygen mask right now just to help her, but no like breathing tube or anything. She's doing okay. Just with like a little bit of oxygen. They put a like type of line in her leg to be able to give her like medications and fluids that she might need. And they're doing X-rays right now. >> Okay. So, I'll see if one of the doctors can come talk to you soon. Okay. >> I'm Dr. Har. Are you Janiah's mom? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> And I'm a favorite brother. Awesome. Do you want to take over for a walk? >> Sure. Really shaky. >> Okay. I know. >> Do you want to come get a snack? >> Okay. >> I'm so sorry, but I mean you under these circumstances have to be outside of the room. >> I just don't want to like scare her anything. Okay. I'm here for you. I'm sorry. This is a surgery. You are her mom. >> Yes. >> What happened? >> Um I don't know. My son, he he's he's hearing something from from the window. He's trying to make some cereal. He goes to the side cuz he he hears something. So it might be her playing on the side of the house. He hears something and he's like, "Ma, look. Look, come here. Look." And then I go I go follow him. I'm like, "Okay, let me go see." But no, it never came to my mind that it was going to be my daughter there >> laying there. It never came to my mind. I thought he was trying to try. I thought he was trying to like come show me a cat or something like that. She saw it. Huh? No one saw. >> You don't know what happened like how she ended up like that. >> I don't know. I'm like, what's happening to my vein? What happened to my vein? >> Man, let me tell you what the situation is because I have to go to the operating room with her. Okay. I'm sorry I'm being blunt, but it's an emergency. She has multiple to her left chest. One of them is deep enough that I have to take the O, make a big vaginal anesthesia, make sure her lung is okay, make sure her heart is okay, clean up this. All right. And she has a bunch of other cuts which they all look superficial. Whole bunch of them we have to clean them up in the operating room and repair them and stitch them up. >> Most important thing is really her her left chest. Okay. >> Mhm. >> On the ultround the heart looks okay on the X-ray. The lungs actually look healthy but it's deep enough that this is not something you stitch up in the ER. This is serious enough that we have to take a long and so sorry being blunt like this but I have to run. >> Okay. >> I'm going to talk to you when we're done upstairs in the O waiting area when you're when when they take you upstairs. Okay. And I'll get to you about those coming up. Okay. And after that, you know, God know she's going to be okay. She can go to the ICU. Okay. >> Okay. Am I going to be able to come in with her >> after she's done with the operating room? Yeah. After here as long as you need me to be here, I'll stay here. Okay. >> Okay. >> Over 10 days later, the family returned to visit her. She was showing positive progress, a reminder that timely attention can bring hope. The aunt was later located and required to cooperate with authorities. >> What's her name? >> Barbie. >> Barbie. I'm here and you know I'm here because I wanted to see how you're doing. Okay. And I'm here because I want to see what happened. Why are you at the hospital? >> You want another toy? >> Okay. Terminating by Tom Body. Hello. How are you? Just know you're on Body Work. Um, >> we're just going to need >> you can just stand up. Just walk through here for us. >> Okay, perfect. >> Okay. Do you have anything on you? I think >> no. >> Just pat her down. >> Okay. >> And all the arms out. >> Can you just spread your legs for me? Spray. >> Okay. Now, go. Take it down just so we can check. >> All right, you can bring her >> just you speak English or Spanish. >> You could just take a walk with Martinez. If you could just sit right over there. Okay. >> All right. Okay. So, I'm Detective Tannis. I work here at the prosecutor's office. Right now, you're being placed under arrest. Um, your charges are as follows. Their attempted unlawful possession of a possession of a for unlawful purpose of a child and in an injured person. So, I'll be back in here to speak with you um and go over your Miranda rightites. >> Okay. Do you need water? Do you need anything? Okay. >> Any questions? Okay. >> All right. We'll be right back. The aunt was charged with first-degree murder and injuring the welfare of a child. Under New Jersey law, she could face 30 to 40 years in prison. Additionally, reports noted that neighbors confirmed the children often spent hours outside, even at night. A gentle reminder that attentive adult supervision is a child's first line of protection. >> Okay. Any inside the vehicle? >> Not that I know of. >> Any? >> No. >> No. >> Opiates? >> No. math, anything like that? >> Not that I know of. >> The mother denied everything until authorities inspected the vehicle and began clarifying previously unclear details. February 7th, 2024, Ohio police conducted a traffic stop due to minor technical violations. What seemed routine quickly revealed concerns, including children in the car and items that could pose risks. A reminder that a child's surroundings directly affect their safety. Hey, how you guys doing? Hi. Thank you. You have your license with you, man? Thanks. Reason I stopped you, a few different reasons. One, did you buy your vehicle with the window tint like this, or did you get it done? >> I bought it like this. I was hanging on a razor. I just drove it from Nevada. >> Yeah, I caught that. That's a pretty decent crack right where your view's supposed to be at. Okay. All right. >> So, my mechanic can't fix it. I took it in yesterday for oil change and all that crap season. >> Okay. You got a dog in the back? >> Yeah. My little Tan. >> Oh, nice. >> He's wimpy. She's limpy. >> Oh, limpy. >> I'm dropping them off so you can get her check up. >> Okay. >> But um >> Okay. Yeah. Yeah. Do you have insurance registration with you for the vehicle? Do you happen to have an ID with you, sir? >> You have an idea. >> You don't? No. All right. >> Why? Why am I getting >> I told you the tint, the cracked windshield, and then you shortcut through the parking lot. I know that's a weird right turn only intersection. There's signs. You make a right at the intersection and there's some signs they loop you around the other hotel. You're not from here, so I wouldn't expect you to know that, but you got to obey the signs. >> Not from here, but >> Oh, you are? >> I came back to pick them up. >> Okay. I just saw you Monroe Falls. Is that still a good address? >> Oh, yeah. Yeah. >> Hey, so thank you. >> I got to move around. >> What's that? >> I got to move around. >> Yeah. Could you go ahead and write your name and your social for me? I appreciate that. >> Do you have an Ohio license? >> Oh, you're from Vegas. Okay. >> Yeah. All right. Where's your name? >> I'm going to talk with you out here, okay? I'm going to have my partner watch traffic. I'm going to have you step out real quick. Just go over this stuff and get you guys rolling on your way. Okay. >> When asked about the car windows, the mother, though flustered, tried to explain the long trip caring for her children and the pressures of the journey. >> I don't know. Something affected me. >> What's that? >> Oh, no. I got a really bad rash. You got a rash? Okay. Well, you keep your shirt on. >> I know. No, it's really bad. I use your product, but you >> Okay. Okay. Let's stand off here so we're out of between the cars. I don't like standing between them. So, where are you guys coming from today? >> From my room. >> From the room. >> So, so I moved to Nevada. My son was kind of in a ton of trouble. So, I sent him back with his dad and I gave it a little bit of time for him to learn like, you know, like you need me. >> You know what I mean? So, then I came out here to get him. We're staying there for a couple days. My winter crack. We got stuck on a freaking mountain in Colorado. Jeez. >> Oh my god. I need a tuneup. I got >> Let's go back here. I'm going to write you a warning ticket. Not a real ticket. A warning. >> You got to get tuna. You need a new windshield. Like it was a hell of a trip, let me tell you. >> Hang on. Right here. I got my ticket. Uh my warning's on the other side. You just stay there. >> Your officers was telling me yesterday that my insurance should cover that cuz he said >> a lot of times they will. It depends on your level of coverage. >> Progressive. Oh, I have super full coverage. Like I have lockouts to be lock my keys in lock. You'll definitely be that's worth a call cuz that's not cheap. You know what I mean? >> It's on a Monday and a Wednesday. I caught it at lockouts cuz I had a feeling I got three of them and on Monday and Wednesday I used two of them. >> Okay. So, how do you know the guys in the car? >> Oh, so they're all from except where we live. Yeah. They're all my son's friends and his girlfriend. They wanted to hang out. My daughter missed him. So, I let them come stay the night. I got to take them all home. >> Is your son in the car? >> Yeah. >> Which one? >> My son's in the middle. >> Oh, in the middle in the back. >> Yeah. Okay. And then that's his best friend from Nevada. I brought him with me to kind of help I mean, help with the drive and then help get him back out there and >> keep us from arguing and just like kind of mediate. >> That's nice. >> Cuz he's struggling with some things and I'm just trying to get him away from here. >> Yeah. >> Stone is not what I thought it was. >> Really? >> We're in Henderson. Have you been there? I have. You go there? I love it, man. >> Yeah. How long you been out there? >> 4 months. >> You like it? >> Yeah. There's just something about the sun every morning in the mountains that like helps your soul. >> Oh, it feels good. >> Yeah. I I actually I I left too for my own struggles. I like I'll be honest, I was an alcoholic. I went to Vegas and got sober. >> Good for you. >> And everybody's like, what? And I'm like, you know, an alcoholic go to Vegas of all places and get sober. But sometimes having it in your face all the time is like enough to say no. >> That's awesome. >> I think it's the fatal accidents I see every day. Like I've seen bodies fall out of car dad. >> Really? >> Yeah. So, I think it's a I think that's what did it, seeing all those accidents and drunk drivers. And I was like, I just don't want >> that, you know. >> How long did it uh take you to drive out here then? >> Oh my gosh. The drive there was 4 days, but the drive back was a day and a half cuz I like already >> You drove from here to go there? >> I drove there with my kids and then my son acted up, so I shipped him. I flew him back out here cuz he needed to learn a hard lesson like what life's like without me. >> So, you drove your son from Stow out to Vegas? >> Yep. I packed up my [ __ ] and was gone, you know. And we have I have a storage unit here. I need to empty out. So, there's just stuff to take care of. I I just left. I didn't handle everything cuz I was just trying to really get him out of way. >> Yeah. >> Away from the away from the It was too much. Good. >> It was hard. >> Yeah. So, who did you drive it back with from Vegas? >> With his friend. I brought his friend to help the front passenger. >> Yep. I brought him to help drive and then to help me like to help us mediate >> cuz we argue a lot, you know. The teenager. >> Yeah. Yeah. He's He's He's locked up. He's not coming out. >> My Keystone alive. >> So, are you guys are you going back to Vegas? Are you staying out here? >> Coming back? No, he's coming, too. >> Oh, your son's coming back. >> I got a question. >> Yeah. >> Um I have to meet a parent. So, my son struggles with like the opiates or whatnot sometimes. You know what I mean? He's been sober, but he's relapsed twice. The problem is that the facilities won't take them without their consent and their minor. The situation became more tense when the mother avoided questions about an unusual smell in the car, attributing it to her older son, >> which is effed up to me beyond royally mentally all kind of ways, right? But um I found out there was a place out here. That's why I really came back and he doesn't know it yet, but he's about to be thrown in. >> Okay. >> So, I don't know yet. I don't know how long it's going to take. >> Let me ask you this. Your car does smell like marijuana. How much is in the car? >> I don't know. I know they were smoking >> before we left. >> Okay. >> I mean, it's Are they 21 and older? >> Yeah, he he is. Well, he's 20. He's about to be 21. He was smoking. >> Well, they got to be 21 and older. So, I didn't know that. >> They brought the in the car. >> No, he was smoking before we left. I won't let them smoke in my room. He did smoke. He smoked in the car. >> Okay. >> I didn't I didn't know until I came out and sme you guys. Like, you can't do that. >> You know what I mean? >> Where are you guys headed to right now? So, I got to take her I got to take them back to Stow. I got to take my daughter to her sitter. I got to take my dog to the bed cuz I accidentally stepped on her and she's limping. So, I just got a lot of prep to do. >> Okay. >> Hopefully, my dog's okay. >> Your dog? >> Yeah. She's like not even stepping on it. >> And she's a show dog. Like I have a photo shoot for her. She's the dog that does the tricks in the Yeah. And with the little bows. She's a key. What if I broke her? It's not healthy. Is there anything inside the vehicle I need to be concerned about that would be illegal in the car? Any firearm? >> Not that I know of. >> Any kind of uh computer equipment for like skimmers, scanners, anything like ripping off credit cards, anything like that? >> There better not be. >> And part of what we do on the roadways is make sure there's nothing illegal going from point A to point >> within the state, without a state, anything like that. Firearms, no electronics. >> I came to get my kid. >> Okay. Any drugs inside the vehicle? >> Not that I know of. Any >> no >> cocaine? >> No. >> Opiates? >> No. >> Marijuana? Anything like that? >> Not that I know of. I don't >> Any large amounts of currency? >> What's that? >> Like a ton of money like tens of thousands of dollars or anything like that? Would you mind if I searched your vehicle to make sure there's nothing illegal in there? >> Yeah, I don't I mean >> I I can search it. >> I have nothing to hide. >> Okay. All right. Thanks. I appreciate it. This officer is just going to get uh your SO and the phone number and that'll be it on there. That's just a warning. It's not a ticket. Okay. Just you got a few issues to take care of with the car and moving violations wise. Okay. >> All right. Thanks. >> By law, certain items are restricted to adults over 21. As a result, police had to work further with the 20-year-old when suspicious objects were found, showing that young people can make unsafe choices without proper guidance. >> She gave consent. So, go ahead and come up. All right. Don't reach. What do you have? What do you have by your left? >> Yeah, you're reaching hard, man. What's What's by your put anything in your back while you're reaching down there? >> Okay, we're going to patch you down. Okay. >> I got a little bit. >> What's that? >> I got uh something in my pocket right here. >> What do you got in your pocket? Can I get it? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Got it. Just some How old are you, man? >> I'm 20. >> You're 20? Okay. You got to be 21 to have it. All right. So, not the end of the world. I appreciate you being honest, though. Okay. I'm not looking to jam you up over a little bit of personal needs. Okay. We can start. All right. You got shorts on or are those boxers? Boxers. >> Those are boxers. Okay. >> You didn't tuck anything down your underwear, down your pants, nothing like that. Just asking, man. All right. Oh, yeah. Did you already get that side? >> Uh, not real. Well, I just Is that just your vape? >> Yeah, that's just my lighter >> or your lighter, rather. Okay. >> Yeah. You're welcome. Dude, it's legal. >> Move your hands forward. >> Yeah. So, in Ohio, you have to be 21 years old. Okay. What else you got in there? >> Coughing. I got >> feels like pills. >> Yeah. >> I knew he had. >> Yeah, he's crouched. I'm going to advise you your rights real quick. The right remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you. You have the right to attorney if you cannot afford attorney. >> Hang tight over there for me saying for any question if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise those rights and not answer any questions or make any statements. >> All right. You understand your rights, man. >> All right. What do you What do you have in your >> I don't have nothing. >> Dude, I don't believe that. >> It feels like pills. Reach >> the whole time. Just tell me. >> We're going to find it. >> All you got to do is call me. I know there's something. So, step back from the car. >> All right. If I shake it, is it going to fall out? Cuz I don't want to reach in your pants. No sir. >> It's not going to fall out on the law. >> Right on. All right, let's go back in the second car. What else do you have on you? Cuz anything else you bring back to jail is going to be an F3. Even if it's a roach, if it's one pill, if it's a needle cap, right? You understand? >> Okay. Do you have anything else on you? I'm going to have you kick your shoes off before you get in here. Okay. Are these fentanyl? >> Just straight up. Are they press F? >> Yes, sir. >> They are. Okay. Thanks, man. I just don't want to get that stuff. You know, it doesn't hold up like regular pills do. I don't want to have somebody get a bunch of powder on them. >> Is there more in the vehicle? >> Is there more on you? >> No, sir. That's That's >> You didn't seem too confident on that. >> So, here's what's going to happen. Okay, I'll be honest with you. Thank you for being honest with me as much as you've been. Okay, I get it. You don't want to get in trouble with this. All right. You know, El Chapa with this. Okay, it's not a small deal, but it's not the end of the world. Okay, if you have something else on you, you're going to go to jail. All right, I'm just being upfront right now. You are going to jail. Okay, for the possession of these, you're going to get strip searched in the jail. Okay, if you bring anything on in you, even if it's one of these pills or anything at all like that, that's a felony. That's a pretty high felony in Ohio. That's mandatory jail time in most cases or anything else on you cuz I'd rather find it out here and talk with you about it than have you bring it back in there. And then the bosses don't let us really talk. It is what it is. You bring something in the in the jail, they don't play with that. >> Yes, sir. Nothing wrong with nothing else. >> Nothing else. Okay. I'm going to patch you down again to make sure. Okay. Is that Is that cool? >> All right. That's uh >> How many are in there? >> I think like a couple hundred. >> About 100. >> Yeah. >> Okay. Listen, that's that's all that's more in personal use. Okay. Go ahead. Spread your legs for me a little further. >> Good for you. do it. We're not we're not trying to sign you up anymore, but like you realize it's a lot bigger target if you go to jail and there's more hidden behind. >> Yeah. So, okay. >> You haven't been on us one time yet, so I'm giving you a chance right now. That's right. There's nothing on you forever. That was that was it. That we right. >> I'll let you have a seat. I'm going to check your shoes and I'll let you put those back on. Okay. If you want to sit like butt in, feet out or that works. Okay. >> All right. Anything stuffed on your shoes? >> No, sir. >> How much Balenciaga shoes cost? >> 800. >> 800. >> Those ever been a rustle before? >> What's that? >> All right, man. You want to slide those back on? I got to put that in. >> Don't kick me, dude. Okay. >> Good. All right. Cool, man. Thanks. You ready to have a seat? I'll take his property and this. Put it in my car. With consent, the vehicle was thoroughly inspected, revealing multiple risky items and a device that could end inanger children, demonstrating that the children had been placed in a potentially unsafe environment. >> Yeah. He was just acting weird, >> dude. He was touching it the whole time in and out when I got caught on. >> Yep. Excellent catch on. We'll get them out. I got >> answers are evasive, dude. >> Yeah. >> She gave me a story about driving out to Vegas and one day with her son, flying the son home, taking him. >> Yeah. taking him from Vegas to do we just arrested driving 4 days back here to meet the son again. They have no cars. They have nothing like Yeah. Had no idea. We are over here. >> I was at RA talking to her. Your story didn't make sense. Even what your story is. What I got is they don't match. >> Right on. We're going to have everybody hop out. We do have probable cause. Search everybody in the vehicle. Okay. >> Well, he's an adult. So, and you're not his mom, right? >> No, I'm not allowed to know. >> He's going back to jail. It's his business. If he wants to tell you, he can. Okay. It'd be like if you if you had something, I wouldn't want to tell him. You know what I mean? >> Yeah. Mom gave consent to search, told the guy. He starts reaching in his crotch immediately. Tell him not to reach. He keeps reaching, putting his crotch up against the thing. He gives us consent to search and pan him down. I feel him. Like, dude, that's a bag of pills. He's like, "There's nothing there." I shook his pants. They fell down his pant legs. I said, "It's a 100 fentanyl pills." >> You already checked out this little satchel. >> I did, but double check it. That's a gun. >> Yeah, >> baby girl. >> Hell yeah. >> Yeah, >> I didn't even get there yet. Run it. Keep looking up there. >> Yeah. >> Thanks. >> Kick. I've never heard of that. Hey, ma'am. Is this your bag? Okay. She said no. >> It was tucked up under the seat. >> I'll start. It's >> got a thin blue line flag air fresher. I'm going to take pictures of that stuff. >> This is like This is Look at the back of the seats. >> This car has been ripped. >> I think we should probably see if those dudes want to do a search for that hotel room. Like >> Yeah. >> I I think Doug, did you talk to the kid if this was his bag or ask him anything? >> I did not. >> I did not. Okay. >> All right. I did. Okay. >> Talked to him. Basically said that uh he remembers Miranda rights. He's denying ownership. Doesn't know anything about it. That's not his bag. Not his gun. >> You showed it to him. >> We all know his I didn't show him the bag, obviously. Okay. >> I asked her. She goes, "Oh, I don't know anything about it." And the seven-year-old girl goes, "That's Goss." >> Beautiful. >> I go, "How does she know that?" Well, he watches her sometimes and I don't see everything that happened. >> Perfect. Then, dude, that's good enough for me. >> Yep. >> I mean, aside from >> which one of the little kids said that? >> The little girl. a 7-year-old. >> Right on. >> Like 100%. That's Geos. >> I got a picture, dude. They got a thin blue line air freshener hanging, a big wooden cross sitting on the dash. All the good stuff. All right, I'll peel this then. >> Yeah. >> Hey, there's another bag. >> Where was that? >> Right under the front passenger seat. So, I was pulling the seat back. I don't know if it fell or it was there. I'm like that back doesn't look normal. Right under the front passenger seat. Right on like the See, I was pulling on this and it fell out. So, let's yank these. >> What' you find? More. >> I don't know what it is. All right. So, I peeled right here. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. We just found a whole bunch more. >> Yeah, they got hides. >> These findings escalated the seriousness of the case, forcing the mother to reflect on her responsibilities. Dude, awesome. Dude, is that or is that key, dude? That's not like That's like a quarter probably, >> dude. If that's going to be really bad. I know that. >> But there's no That's going to be >> Maybe it's at a cheaper house. I think it's >> Hey, and it >> smells like it. >> Does it have that like containers? >> Yeah. >> Right. >> So, well, if it's pills, think about it like this. If this is 21 >> Yeah. >> How many do you think that would be? >> It might be, man. It's like moving around. It's not. Dude, feel that. That might be Phil's, bro. These aren't too durable, so it's not like >> Yeah, you're right. I'm excited, dude. Nice job, bro. You great stuff. Create. >> Uh, I'll throw those. >> I was going to say, do you have bags? >> Yeah, I'll keep all this separate. I'll start marking down what came from where. >> Yeah, cuz we're also going to figure out where your kids are going and all that stuff. >> Well, my my center is on 73. >> We'll figure it out when we get there. Obviously, we're not trying to >> This is I don't even know what you have and what's going on. >> The mother was charged with trafficking and child. Her son was not exempt facing charges of trafficking and possession of a stolen firearm. Under Ohio law, the mother could face 3 to 10 years in prison, while her son could face 2 to 6 months. The presence of unsafe items around children serves as a strong reminder that a safe environment and attentive adult supervision are the foundation for protecting their future. A locked house, no communication devices, no adults, and inside an 8-year-old child struggling to manage on her own. >> I do have a phone in the house. >> No, but with no service. >> Oh, no service. On September 2nd, 2023, police conducted a welfare check after receiving reports that a young child had been left home alone with no way to call for help. Hello, police department. Hello. How are you? >> Is your dad here, Kenneth? >> Um, no. He went to go and train someone. You want to go train someone? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Who's here with you? >> I'm just here. >> You by yourself? How old are you? >> 13. >> You're 13. Nobody else in here? >> No. Does your dad have his phone with him? Cell phone? Yes. >> Do you know your dad's phone number? >> Um, I do not have my phone. >> You don't have a phone with you? Okay. Is this door unlocked? How long have you been here? >> Um, like I think like an hour. >> An hour? >> Cuz he went to go and train someone just for like hour 30 minutes. >> All right. Did you talk to your mom today? >> Um, yeah. >> All right. And you don't you don't have a cell phone? >> I currently at my mom's. >> At your mom's. Okay. Is there a phone in the house? >> There's no phone in this house either. Do you know who the people are who live on the other side of the house? >> Have you ever met them? No. >> All right. We're going to talk to your mom real quick. Okay. >> Do you have any siblings? Any brothers or sisters? >> Um, I have one that went to college. >> Went to college. >> So, we're just here to come check on you. Okay. We just come and make sure everything's okay. She was a little she was a little concerned and she just wanted us to check on you today. >> And is there is everything okay at home? >> Yeah. >> Everything's okay with you and your dad. Do you feel safe? >> Yes. >> You stay Do you typically stay home >> sometimes? because his job is personally to train people. >> Mhm. >> Um because >> they don't let like >> people going to the gym like under 14. >> All right. >> So I have to stay here. >> Do you know what gym he trains at? >> Um Planet Fitness. >> Planet Fitness. >> Okay. All right. Is he bad enough? >> He just took >> an Uber over there. >> Okay. No cell phone, huh? >> Okay. All right. We're going to close the door. We're going to come back and talk to you in a second. Okay. >> All right. >> The girl's age was gradually confirmed. Born in 2015, she was only eight at the time. Far too young to be alone, especially without any means to seek assistance. >> How old are you? How old? >> We already went over this. >> Yeah. You were born in 2015, right? >> Yeah. Remember, you don't you don't ever have to lie to us cuz we're just here to make sure you're okay with that. Does your dad tell you to say that if someone shows up? >> Um, no. Well, I just >> Like I said, you're about as old as my son. So, sounds like you know how to make breakfast. You know how to take care of yourself. It's pretty good. She made Captain Crunch pancakes this morning. >> Oh, yeah. Did you put syrup on them? >> Yes. >> Crunch berries or just regular Captain Crunch? >> Captain Crunch. >> Just Captain Crunch. Who made them? You made them? Was your dad here? Did you make pancakes for him, too? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. You're supposed to go back with mom tomorrow, Sunday. >> No. >> Tomorrow. Where's your dad? You don't go back sometime tomorrow. Sunday. Where'd he go to school? >> Fairview. >> Fairview. Fairview. Where's that at? >> Espo. You got school tomorrow? No, Monday. >> Labor Day. >> Oh, it's a holiday coming up, huh? >> Get three days off this week. >> So, this officer may already explained it to you in that, too. But fact that you're 8 years old. You're a little bit too young to be home by yourself with no way to call anybody if you needed anything. You don't have a phone or anything. >> One time at my mom's, I stayed home. >> Yeah. >> I told you the importance. So, at least if you had a phone or something like that, if there's an emergency, that's why it's important. I do have a phone in the house. >> So now you do have >> No, but with no service. >> Oh, does >> Oh, no service. Okay. Does it have Wi-Fi? Do you do you >> I do have Wi-Fi. >> Do you text people on your phone? >> I cannot. >> You cannot. Okay. >> Is your dad's number on your phone? >> No. >> Is your dad's number written down anywhere like on a piece of paper on the fridge or anything? No. Okay. And your dad took an Uber? >> Yes. So, I just talked to your mom. All right. So, we got to figure out Can I have you hanging out here by all by yourself? All right. I talked to your mom. Your mom's going to come. She's in route. She's going to come over. Okay. And try to get a hold of your dad in the meantime and figure out what's going on there. You think you went to Planet Fitness? Yeah. Okay. He went to Punish Fitness to Transit. >> All right. Do you know what time he left? >> Not exactly. How about roughly like an hour ago? >> Um >> 2 hours ago. >> An hour and 30 minutes. >> An hour and 30 minutes. >> He said he would be back in an hour and 30 minutes. >> Hour and 30 minutes. Okay. >> I just went doing my daily routine. Shower. >> Yeah. Yeah. I can tell you took a shower. Your hair's still wet. Okay. Yeah. It's not that we don't think. I'm sure you're you're able to take care of yourself and everything here, but you are a little young though. 8 years old, not 13. >> I knew you weren't 13 when you told me you were 13. >> Well, that's good that you're self-independent. >> You can take care of yourself. Like I said, it's just uncomfortable knowing that >> something goes wrong, you don't have any contact. >> Okay. All right. So, we're going to uh let me get mom back on the phone and see how long it's going to take her. She said about 45 minutes, but she's calling to see if any further. Do you uh do you ever stay with anybody else in Santa Fe? Do you have any aunts or uncles or cousins or >> No, just an Espanola. >> All right. And is it your mom's family >> in Espanola? >> Yeah. Okay. All right. >> Oh, we're going to stand by. >> The father returned and discussed his daughter's age. While the law does not set a strict number, most experts agree that children under 12 need supervision to feel safe. >> How's it going? Good. >> You kind of Hey, we got called to do a welfare check >> for your daughter. Oh, >> yeah. They said they were concerned about her. I guess you guys had a dispute with mom yesterday, right? >> So, we came by earlier and we were talking to her now. Is she here by herself? >> Well, they were here, but I just went she just grabbed something so she could give me this just right down the road. I'm now here with her, sir. >> Oh, is it her birthday? >> Yeah, that was just a friend just right down the road that she wanted to pick this up. So, I just said, "I'll be right back." >> Okay. >> But the people that I live that are our landlords were actually here when she was present. >> They were here earlier. >> Yes. >> Yeah. Yeah. So the issue is that she's eight. When we knocked on the door, she told us she was 13. >> Why? >> Yeah. Cuz you probably knew not to say she was 18. So we were talking to her now and I mean she's in the house. Everything obviously everything's okay with her for sure. >> But yeah, but she is too young to be left alone in the house, right? There's no specific age, but she's since she's a juvenile and she's under the age of 12. >> Okay. >> Yeah. The state. Well, it's it all depends on individual. Eight's too young, especially if they had no phone, no way to contact anyone. So cuz she doesn't have a cell phone or anything. >> She does. She does have a cell phone in the house. >> She showed me a cell phone. Is it just Wi-Fi though? >> Yes, it's connected to Wi-Fi and she's able to call >> connect. So, you can contact her. She can contact you. >> That's like I was right down the road just getting pissed. That's why when I I didn't think it was a big deal to come right down the road. >> Yeah. >> You weren't at Planet Fitness had the phone. What's that? >> You weren't at Planet Fitness. >> No, I'm not at Planet Fitness. >> Said that you were out training somebody. >> What's that? >> They said you were out. She thought you were out training somebody. Somebody picked you up. >> Yeah. No, sir. >> Train someone. >> She is a trainee, but this is to her. >> Yeah, >> she just started. So, we told her, I mean, the biggest thing is, yeah, she's still a little young. Seems very self-independent. She makes herself breakfast and cleaning up. That's good that she has all that stuff for sure. I appreciate shower and everything. >> Literally right down the road, but I bet everything's okay. Um, so 12 years old is >> Well, it's No, it's all there's no specific law as far as 8 years is way too young to leave a child alone in the house. >> Okay. Sorry. Yeah. Even to go out for a while, there's it's it's considered child cuz they there has to be an adult with them at that age. Especially if something happens, they need to call somebody. There needs to be something with them. >> It's just the whole thing that you don't want to be liable as a parent. That's the biggest thing. Something did go down. She did walk out, something happened to her, then it would be, you know, I mean, child >> for sure. >> So, that's something we don't want to happen. >> Of course, and I wouldn't want to predict either. But >> he also shared the family's complex background with disagreements over childare. Adult conflicts can sometimes unintentionally place burdens on young children. >> I know my daughter too and I know how intellectual she is. I know how advanced she is. >> It's the only reason why it would come down. >> Yeah. But no, the other things get to go. She was just given this for me to get her goodies cuz she just get >> All right. >> So, just give heads up. It's got to be documented report and everything. Okay. >> So, there'll be a police report document instant that we contacted her here and we contacted you. Okay. Cool. Mom called. She said that she dropped her off yesterday or the day before and it got things got heated. >> Uh so they tried to drop my daughter off there on Cerillios uh right by the um >> it's like an oil place. It has fencing all around it now. Pet Boys. She pulled over on the corner of the street and tried to have my daughter get out of the car right there in the middle of traffic. >> Why did she stop over there? Not here. >> She was here, but I told her that I was at Planet Fitness yesterday waiting to come back. And I said, "When you come into town, let me know and then we can meet cuz I'm at the gym." Obviously, I'm not leaving the gym until you come and then we'll do our own thing. >> Okay. >> But regardless, her her boyfriend is the problem. Doesn't matter what goes on, he always throws his two cents in and he just needs to sit in the seat and shut his mouth. But he's the one that causes the problem. So, he's the one who will run his mouth when you are around. >> Yeah. >> When you're not around, he don't say, >> right? >> But here's the thing. If this guy is driving and he has my daughter in the car and he pulls out in the middle of theing road to let her out. The door's open. They're yelling at me, waving their hands. She has her seat belt off >> and there's traffic, dog. So that's why I popped off and I said, "Close the door." I said, "Go around, you idiot." I said, "What are you doing here, bro? How are you going to let my kid out in the middle of the street on Serios? You know damn well I've been three times here in the city while while walking, okay? And I've all three times been left foring dead. So I know exactly what it's like out there. >> So when he did that, they pulled over. I reamed his ass cuz that's my child and you're in control of that vehicle. That was your choice to do that. And then they came up with this whole hoax [ __ ] saying that, "Oh, we weren't going to let her out. We would never do such a thing." Why was she unbted halfway out the seat and from the middle seat and the other kid with his legs getting out of the vehicle and you're saying you're not going to drop off my daughter in the middle of the street? >> Yeah. >> So yeah, I popped off >> and I get what it was about. >> Yeah. And I talked to her and I said, "Are you okay?" I said, "Cuz this has happened before when we lived at the old old place and then he brought the cops and I'm like and he still ran his mouth and you guys aren't around. He doesn't say >> the boyfriend. >> He's a coward." I stand my ground and I stand up for her cuz she doesn't have a voice to say it on her own. And her mom chooses his side. This is also Judge Madrid's daughter, my ex-wife. That's the I'm dealing with and have been for eight years. I got the end of the stick and I'm still keeping my cool as much as I can. But once this piece of came through and he's starting to treat her differently, >> I'll put him in his place and I what I lose, but I won't do anything to lose her. So, in the event they will envelop it to make it sound horrific, but that's they're they're two narcissists working together and they all they want to do is make us miserable. They don't give a about how they make her feel. >> So, I completely understand with her. I know what I can and can't do. But also, I don't even know laws, but it's kind of a gray area anyway. >> It is. In the event, I know she's solid. >> Just like we said, more than likely, you trained your daughter very well. She's very, she can take care of herself. >> And I mean, >> but it's just one of those for herself. >> Yeah. Like we said, it's just one of those things. Almost I think if something does happen because of the age and that goes to court and it looks an 8year-old left out here on the street, >> it'll just look bad. You know what I mean? >> So, we get that. So, like we said, it'll just be documents. It's just going to be a documented report. So, >> it's not a problem for >> Yeah. I'm all Now we know what to do in the future. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Make sure that phone there. If she does, you have another phone. >> I have my phone. My cell phone. She has her cell phone and her the iPhone. >> Most of the time she actually carries the Tik Tok watch, which is video. So that way it has GPS and it has everything. So she squared away on all communication level if anything. >> That was the biggest thing is we talked through we didn't have your number. So we had no choice but to call mom. >> Okay. If she would give us your number, we could have called you right away. So I told her mom. We're here to help and protect. >> So how did you know her mom's phone number? She called. That's how the wife got us because without the space, she just wanted us to just make sure she was okay and everything. So, >> did you do you think mom possibly knew you weren't here? >> I have no idea. >> Had you communicated with her at all? >> Nope. Ever since last night, there's been no communication, no indication of what we're doing or itinerary. They're in Albuquerque doing okay. >> She can't Your daughter can't text her on like Wi-Fi or anything. >> She has the phone. She can call and text. >> So, she can call and text in there. So, that >> possibly. >> Okay. >> When I go in, I'll see her. Well, I'll just ask her. >> Yeah. and see what what what went on and that's all that cuz she'll be honest and she'll tell me what's up. >> It's the mom that's the she's a liar. She's just straight up a liar and she's two faced so unfortunately that's what we're doing. >> Yeah. >> But I appreciate you guys get that bond and trust with your daughter. >> Of course. >> That's my main thing. Well, I fought long and hard. If you knew what I went through just to be in this just this just this just this just this just this just this just this just this just this just this my daughter's life. You know what's up. >> You have respect for it too and then you realize man sometimes people like Kobe went through it years on years and he finally won. I don't have millions of dollars, but I'm [ __ ] doing it penny by penny >> when nobody's doing that right there. >> I mean, need to brag because that's what a dad does. >> Exactly. >> So, I completely understand it and I apologize for >> No, there's no apologies. It's our job, man. >> No, thanks for talking to us and explaining to us what's going on. So, we'll get back. >> You better understand the circumstances cuz this has been a riff and it's starting to now be. So, you guys might be present more often because of him, not because of her. And her I've actually that's the one that I'm gone with. >> Yeah. when he's around that mother just he says the right thing and he just keeps on that's it >> you too can draw you >> straight up and at that point but it already comes to the point where I said anytime any day he says I know you can me up but I'll need you >> don't let him win >> yeah birthday presents for >> but yeah girl she hooked it up but uh that's what they've been trying to do like I say their goal is to try to utilize Okay. All right. We're going to talk bases with her in that same. >> All right. >> Be careful. >> The father could have faced charges of childact. Under New Mexico law, he could face up to one year in prison and a $5,000 fine. This situation serves as a reminder that no matter how busy life gets, children need to be in caring hands. As safety and love today form the foundation for their future. Take a look at Florida, where similar risks unfolded in its own way, reminding us of the critical importance of safety. >> There's four >> four children. >> On June 17th, 2023, Sarasota police received an urgent call reporting a mother driving suspectedly intoxicated with children in the car. Within minutes, they arrived on the scene and confronted Angelica along with everyone involved. What >> are we doing? >> You're trying to leave, so watch out. >> Okay. All right. Thank you. How we doing, sir? >> Okay, good. Just stand up for me. Okay. >> Yeah, I know. I know. Okay. All >> right. >> Just give me just a minute. Thank you very much. >> That's why I called. She >> No, thank you for calling. I really appreciate it. >> You got other information? >> No, not yet. If you uh female driving in the back, the female driving speaking, you guys speak. >> They approached the car to obtain information from the mother. >> You guys got the registration, driver's license, and insurance for the vehicle. >> Can you shine the light so I can This is 2021. 2022. I can have this one back. >> I don't know which one it is. I just have all of them. >> Have the 21 back. So, you have your license? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Give me my treasure. It's right here. >> You give me your card. >> Are you Angelica? >> Yes. >> Okay. while also collecting statements from witnesses. >> And then neither of you were in the vehicle? >> No, we've walked over to take a shower. We heard the crunch and looked back. >> Okay. >> And then also um appears that she was very intoxicated and she made a comment about she had traumatized the children. Okay. >> Because Bridget got out to walk back there and she's like, "I didn't even hit you." And obviously she did. Okay. >> And that's when we walked over and I was just kind of standing by because she was very confrontational. >> Where's the impact on the vehicle? >> Right. She backed up like a foot and then was trying to leave. So, >> and also if >> Okay, very clear transfer >> see over there. It kind of bumped out. >> Okay. But yeah, that pain transfer is all that I need right there. >> Okay, perfect. So, passengers. >> Yeah. And that is not okay. Perfect. I really appreciate it, folks. Just hang out for just a few minutes for me. Okay. Right. Thank you. Okay. So, I know she was driving. Where were you seated? >> Passenger. >> Passenger front. >> Yeah. And then where were you seated, sir? >> You were in the middle like in the back. >> Okay. Okay. >> However, unexpectedly, the mother denied everything, insisting she was not involved and casually declaring, "I didn't drive." >> When you got into the accident, what see what she said? >> I didn't get in an accident. This thing. >> What do you mean? >> I never got an accident. They They said I got an accident, but I never did. I've been >> So, why why are we here? >> Cuz I've been at the beach. >> Okay. >> So, they called you guys. >> Did they think you you got into an accident? You can tell. >> So, you're saying you weren't driving at all? >> I wasn't. >> I got her in >> I was not driving at all. Waiting for her license. I just need to see her driver's license, ma'am. >> Yeah. Tell me for my license, baby. Please. >> Where where were these two guys when this all happened? >> That's my nephew and my and my cousin. Like, >> where where were they? >> They're with me. I'm supposed to bring back my brother. >> So, nobody was in the car. >> No. >> Okay. >> No, no, no, no. We've been here since like 2:00. >> Did you see that? >> Yeah. >> Thank you so much. >> Thank you so much. >> She's all right. >> Thank you, baby. >> Okay. We'll be right back with you. Under Florida law, she could face a maximum sentence of 6 years and 9 months in prison along with fines of up to $10,000. The incident shows that a single moment of losing control while driving can cause fear, affect families, and lead to serious prison time.
