I'll go through it. >> All right. I'll just stay in here, >> please. Yeah. There's the door people right there. Upon making contact with the caller, he explained that the woman was visibly drunk and had been causing a disturbance. In fact, it only got worse as time went on. >> Hey, don't do that. >> Get another. >> Now you got a felony. >> Oh my law enforcement. >> Oh my goodness. Let's see what this brings. >> Stop. >> Need a hobble. >> You can put her. >> Yeah, you need a hobble. Let's go and grab a hobble. >> I don't have a hobble. They don't. >> Uh, yeah. Okay, you got to sit back. Sit back. >> Putting your seat belt on. >> Don't you try to bite me. You piece of [ __ ] All right. I know. I don't know why you're so angry. >> After endless resistance, the woman was finally placed in the cruiser and was soon on her way to jail. However, before leaving, the officer spoke with the caller once again. >> I'll be back. One more second. >> Will you guys eventually what a marchman or baker for you? >> Uh that's going to have to come. So, she's going to jail obviously for resisting our obstruction and then she's going to go for battery on LE cuz she kicked me. And then um when she gets out, you'll have to file for an exparte order uh for her to go to take your evidence for the judge and apply for it and then the judge can make her go get treatment. >> I got to wait for her to get out though to do start all that or can I How do I do that? >> You go down to the courthouse >> and just I'll figure it out for >> Yeah. You just file it and everything like that. >> Nope. It's going with me. Nope. It's going with me for me. >> Nope. You're good. Okay. Car's lock. This is her shoes. >> That's fine. >> Okay. I'm going to help you out. I'm going to help you out. >> I'm not resisting. I'm trying. All right. I'm going to have you step out. Okay. >> I got it. >> Okay. I just don't want you to fall. >> I got it. >> All right. We're going to walk right in there. Okay. >> The woman was charged with DUI, resisting arrest and battery on law enforcement. Moving on to the case where this unhinged Karen made the bold decision to pepper spray an officer only to play the victim afterward. >> Please stop. Stop. >> Don't make it worse than it already is. Ma'am, >> Metro, she just sprayed me with mace. >> On May 10th, 2022, while on duty at a department store, an officer was alerted to a shoplifting in progress. However, the encounter with the suspect took multiple turns the officers never saw coming. How you doing, man? Too late. >> Please don't do it for me. Please stop. Stop. Please >> don't make it worse than it already is. Ma'am, >> please don't do it for me. Please. Please don't do it. >> I don't care. >> Please, sir. Please, sir. Please, sir. Please, sir. Please. >> Metro, she's running from me. Start them quick. She's in the store still. >> The woman's bold attempt to avoid consequences by running from the officer was definitely a bit naive. Still, she clung to the hope that her non-existent running skills might somehow help her get away. We're out back in the parking lot. Silver still running. Get away from me. Get away from me. >> You catching more charges, man. >> Get away from me. Get away from me. Get away from me. >> You catching more charges. >> Get away from me. I can't go to jail. I can't go to jail. >> I can't I can't go to jail. >> I can't go to jail. >> You spray me with that and I'm going to put you in jail. >> You going to put me in jail anyway. >> Felony. Get away from me. >> Metro. She just sprayed me with mace. >> Just when you thought things couldn't get more absurd, this Karen decided to flee the scene moments after she had pepper- sprrayed the officer. >> She's in a white sedan fleeing in the car. It's a white four-door sedan. I think that was impa >> I should have just her on the ground and quit playing with her. >> Well, unfortunately the news isn't going to treat you that way. Sorry. >> Ending video. Suspect escape. >> 929 Aorn 79 29 Aorn. It's going to be a black expedition. That's a lesson learned right there. What was her last direction to travel? Which way did she go >> on uh Apache? I mean um going down Shaunie towards middle ground. >> Okay. >> I mean he got 45 to that CS unit that was asking for the direction of travel. >> Um they're saying that they went towards middle ground off of Apache. Was it What color was it? >> White. >> White 104. It was a white and color Chevrolet Impala that was going eastbound towards middle ground on Shaunie's direction. Not Apache >> Shaunie. Right to the right. >> What was the attack? >> I called it out. I didn't write it down. Dude, I can barely see. >> I got you. Let me see if it's in there. >> Put out that she has pepper spray. >> Oh yeah, we know. We got a few guys over there in the area. >> ID in there and her phone. >> She got it. >> Sweet. >> Wait, her ID was in there? >> Yeah, I I got her purse from her. >> You're the officer. >> That's her purse. >> This is her purse. >> That's her purse. >> What's up, Wilson? >> Officers located the woman's ID in her purse and matched it with the vehicle's registration. When they followed up at the listed address, they saw the vehicle arrived to drop off a young child. But upon noticing police, the woman fled, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph. The pursuit ended in a neighborhood where she was eventually caught after nearly driving into a pond. >> Baron's Way. >> Baron's Way. >> Oh, okay. >> It's just a rough time for me. >> Okay. That's still not an excuse for anything. >> Yeah, I know. Okay. >> I checked. >> Yeah. We'll just >> I don't I've already gone through pockets. >> Okay. >> 1343. I had an address. >> There you go. >> I'm walking around now. >> Oh boy. >> Right back. >> Yeah, you're good. young lady. >> My name is Sergeant Washington. This is Detective Brunson. We're both property crimes detectives. Uh for police, how you doing? Can we get you anything to drink? >> We heard the officer side of story. We heard officers on scene side of story. Heard your family side of story. Do you want to talk to us and let us know what's going on? >> What happened? Why you did what you did? >> No. >> It's it's a yes or no, ma'am. I just have to read something to you if you want to stop. >> Okay, give me a second. >> Once again, we want to make sure you're okay. You want water? You want anything? Is is you feel the air in there? You feel the air? You see? It's pretty cool. >> Okay. All right. Give me one second. All right. You have the right to remain silent. >> The officers were more than courteous to the suspect, but as she began sharing her side of the story, she somehow saw herself as the victim. >> All right. Um, so again, I spoke with everybody. I'm detective process, my sergeant. So watch, we spoke with everybody pretty much involved. Um, >> do can you walk us through what happened? We know that you were trying to get some baby clothes for the I think you told the officer that. Can you walk me through from there of you procuring the items and why that was done? >> Well, it was done cuz it was so, you know, I ain't can't make no excuse for that. But >> I didn't even get out the door. like I ain't put no stuff in my purse or nothing. So like when I was like, "Okay, I put the stuff down." He just like kind of manhandled me and like I was like and then he said, "I don't give you and that's what really >> triggered it." >> Okay. And then from there what happened, man? >> I tried to get the phone. >> Okay. You said he man. >> Thank you. He said he manhandled you. Then he grabbed you on the shoulder, the arm. >> He grabbed my arm. He grabbed my wrist. >> Okay. >> He grabbed my side. He He manhandled me. Yeah. He rough me up and like Yeah. I'm not going to make no excuse. Yeah. I know I was doing something wrong, but God, >> you had to do all that. >> Okay. So, did you feel the need to pepper him at that point to protect yourself? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> Cuz I felt like, you know, he was saying all kind of crazy stuff. >> I understand. That's kind of, you know, you both die. You never know. >> Everybody, how everybody feeling that moment? What's your pay to others at? >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Okay. So, you know, we got that part. Um, you told them that you said you don't give a [ __ ] >> At that which point you pepper sprayed them and then you wanted your car or your mom's car? >> Yeah, my mom's car. >> Who was the kids? >> But they said it was kids in the car. I ain't It was no kids in the car by myself. >> Okay. What? I was outside. I was parked right in front when you pulled in front of the house. >> But that was like after the fact, but they said that I was driving reckless with my kids and that that wasn't true. That's what your family said? >> I'm pretty sure you spoke to him cuz that's who I talked to. >> That wasn't you. Like, >> was that your kid? >> Uhhuh. No, >> my kid was the daddy. >> Okay. Who was the kid with you? Just someone dropped off. Just somebody that was dropping off over there. >> All right. So, you dropped the kid off. Cool. At which point that's when I I was outside the house. Officers tried to stop me. Took off going about 100. >> Going about 100. What you going, >> man? like you know I can't make no excuse for >> you driving you know for us >> like >> took off >> I can't make no excuse for it you know >> I'm not going to try to make an excuse for it was you know >> finally the woman seemed to realize there were no excuses for her actions stealing resisting arrest pepper spraying an officer and putting lives at risk by driving over 100 in a 60 zone just it's just a hard time but it's just it's no excuse for it but like if that So when they rough me up like that, then I would have >> you would have just said, "Hey, I did it." Whatever. >> It is what it is. >> Um, okay. At which point now that leads us to here >> again with you driving. I I don't know what school you went to for driving, but I mean, you talking about fitting a needle in a something that small. What were you doing? That's impressive. >> Give me a job. I won't have to steal. >> Yeah, I think a little late for that if you would have a couple months back, man. You still got job offers cuz that's some serious driving. You know some serious driving. >> It's not funny. It's not funny. >> And I'm sorry, but it got you. You can't just be handling people all kind of jacked up ways like that. >> And I appreciate you. I'll let him know. >> I apologize. >> Okay. I appreciate you speaking with us. Um I hope you feel better. >> What's going on with you? >> I don't notice hell. It just in my eyes. My eyes water. >> Got you. >> Probably got some spray on your hair >> from earlier. >> Right. Right. And then >> cuz it's burning. >> Yeah. You might got some pepper spray and then your lashes or whatever. I know EMS was just here. Did they look at you? >> Yeah, but it wouldn't burn it then. >> Okay. Okay. >> Well, we'll try and get you out of here. We see you get some transport. Okay. >> You ready to go now? >> The woman was charged with shoplifting and felony obstruction. Moving on to the case where this Karen lost it after she violated a protection order on her daughter. >> You're ruining our life. >> I'm not ready. >> Yes, you are. You guys won't do any good in the world. >> That's not true. >> I hate you. >> Okay. >> I hope you I hope each and one of you get in the head. >> Can I say goodbye to my daughter? >> Please. Please. >> I'm going to go ahead and shut it. >> No. Please. >> On August 8th, 2024, officers responded to a residence after reports of a protection order that had been violated. However, the encounter quickly proved to be far from usual. >> What's up? >> All right. Hello. >> Hi. >> What's going on over here? >> So, what's going on? >> Interested. For >> the first time ever, I'm making my mouth shut, you guys. You guys are pieces of >> Okay. Do you want to provide a statement or anything? >> Yeah. You guys are And you should all my statement. Were you aware of the order between you guys? >> Yeah, the order that you guys put on there that I've been trying to get on for 10 years. Yeah, I'm aware of that. >> Okay. >> You know, I have the worst I've ever like. I hope you all get tonight. Every last one of you. I hate >> I not going to go anywhere near him. I know the rules. >> Well, you're going in his direction. >> I can do whoever I want to freak. Bet me. Don't arrest me in front of my daughter, dude. >> That's your choice. >> No, it's yours. >> Yeah. All you have to do is go inside and walk away. >> That's my husband. You just up my entire life. Do you understand that? Why the didn't you run? I bought you all kinds of time. >> You're trying to get him to run away. >> Get him away from >> Yeah, I want him to run. Dude, we're we're going on vacation right now. We're leaving for vacation. My f boyfriend being your daughter's right there. We're going on vacation like 10 minutes. We wouldn't have even been here. How would you like if someone shut up with your with you why ruined your vacation? >> I had no contact order. >> If against your will that you've gone to court multiple times to get rid of and they just won't do it because they're stupid. Do you understand that you're ruining our life? I'm not ready. >> Yes, you are. >> From the moment officers made contact with the suspect, she tried to explain that they were going on vacation and that she couldn't be arrested in front of her daughter. However, her hostile behavior didn't do her any favors. >> You guys are out for the Fedway Police Department is only out to hurt people. You guys won't do any good in the world. >> That's not true. >> I love you. I'm so sorry, Justin. I will make sure that Justin pays for this with his life. I hate you. >> Okay. I hope you I hope each and one of you get killed in the head so that neither one of you could go home and be your wife either or your kids. If I could myself, I would. >> Hey, can you say goodbye to his daughter? >> No. >> Cuz you're acting like that. You're going to make it worse for her. >> Did she give her dad a hug? >> No. >> Please you of your behavior. >> Yeah. >> Your behavior. No work like that. >> You're not going to our lives call racist remarks and then ask us for a favor. >> No. after we're protecting an order that protects you. >> It doesn't protect me. >> And I'm not going to argue with you, but no, she cannot see him right now. >> She can't give him a hug. He told him like 10 years. >> She said 100. >> I think you're causing her more problems than than he is at this point. >> Wait, you're right. I am. >> Yeah, you are. I don't think that's very kind of you as a mother. >> I don't think you've already told me that. >> Can we bounce? I don't think she's going to. >> We're ready to go. >> Yeah, let's just go. >> You want me to take him up there? >> We have him. He's going back to PD. >> She doesn't want to do anything. >> At this point, things had hit a standstill and the officers were now planning to take the father back to the station as he was the one prohibited from seeing his daughter. As time went on, the woman's behavior only got worse. I hope you're all happier now. You feel real great inside. You guys [Applause] get the off my street. >> I should give her a pamphlet. >> What's that? >> Should I give her a pamplet? >> It's a RCW, >> right? >> You have one? I can >> I can go grab one out of my car. >> Oh, yeah. Shut it up. I want to kill you. You >> too. >> No. Shut up your [ __ ] My property you pamplet. [Music] We're going on vacation and you and my ex-boyfriend everything horrible people. >> The officers sensed that the woman's behavior wasn't likely to improve anytime soon. But they left the scene since her trashy verbal outbursts were directed at them and not anyone else. However, it didn't take long before the neighbors called back. This time reporting that she was making serious threats directly toward them. The neighbor is over there, Galania, currently. Correct. >> Yep. >> Uh would you be willing to uh aid in prosecution if we can develop uh some sort of criminal threats from this? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> Um what is she saying to you? >> She told me that she's going to shoot me in my head, that her gun is on her way down here, she's going to set my house on fire, that I'm dead to her, she knows I lose everything. Like she's called me several times. >> Okay. Um, how does that make you feel? How are you feeling right now? >> I'm one scared for my life because I'm being threatened to be killed. And two, I own my home and so her threat to damage my property is ridiculous. >> So, you believe that there is potential credibility to her threat? >> Yes, I do. >> I do. >> Is she armed with anything right now? Or >> she's outside calling somebody else to yell with somebody else. >> Are you and your family safe inside right now? >> Huh? >> Are you and your family inside away from her? Uh, we had to put a TV into the car and that's how we got into this altercation. And now >> is your family back inside? >> Yeah, we're heading back inside. >> Yeah, I would just say go inside. Lock the doors. Try to keep distance from her. >> Okay, we'll go inside. Um, she's calling the police on somebody else that's leaving her house right now, too. She's claiming that they have weapons. A lot. >> No, I totally understand. Um, we'll have some paperwork probably to do with you when we get there. Hopefully, we'll be there soon. Okay. Thank you. >> Thank you. >> She had calmed down. >> She called about her friend during >> I don't know. And I don't really care. >> Yeah. >> I want to be with her. >> Yeah. No, totally. Yeah. I'm not worried about that. I want to go arrest her if we get her out. >> Gotcha. >> We'll just try and get her out. >> Yep. >> Come on. Come on out and talk. Come on out and talk. >> Try to try to get her to come out and talk about her friend. Hey, you called about your friend or something. The other guy. And then once she gets outside, but go that route. go like, "Hey, you called about your friend being what was really nether outside." >> Yeah. Just be cool or like >> come out here and talk to me real quick. >> What's going on with your friend? >> With what? >> Your friend. >> Elizabeth, she she's got DS. She's not supposed to be here in the first place. Yeah, >> you guys should have rushed her when you were here the first time. >> She got D. What? Whoa. Whoa. Whoa. Okay, wait wait wait wait. Mom, I'm being arrested. Mom, I'm being arrested. >> Mom, I'm being arrested. >> I got I lost myself somewhere. >> Mom, I'm being arrested right now. I'm not resisting. I'm not going to resist. >> Just like that, the officer's plan worked exactly as they had hoped. >> Mom, I'm being arrested. >> Can my mom come get my diabetes? >> Yeah. Yeah, that'd be preferable. >> Okay. Yes, mom. Come to Haley right now. >> I'm not Hey, I'm not I'm not going to resist. Haley, grandma's on her way. I promise. >> Tell us grandmy's on her way. Get her. Tell her to get her cell phone. >> She's in there streaming. Her cell phone's in the car. Mom, I can't tell her anything. They're taking me to the car. I can't tell her anything. >> Okay. Well, let's then ask the officer to tell her to get the No, I don't want to talk to you. >> Ma'am, all we're not leaving. We're not leaving yet. We need you to come here as soon as possible. That's all. >> Don't worry about anything else. Don't worry about granddaughter yet. We We'll stay here with granddaughter until you arrive. We just need to be as soon as possible. >> You do not need to be. I'm on my way. >> Why am I being arrested? Because I got in a fight with the neighbor. I'm sorry for the favor. I shouldn't I mean you you understand my husband was just we're on our like 10 minutes later and we wouldn't have been here. My ex-boyfriend Can I >> Anything you say right now can be used against you in court. Okay. >> Can I show you what happened though? >> Nope. Just a sec. >> So Justin and I'm sure he's the one that called you. >> We'll go ahead and step. He's my ex-boyfriend. Okay. And he's super mad that um that we're going on vacation without him. And so that's why he called and told you guys about Nick here or whatever. Okay. Cuz Nick's my husband. He was my boyfriend and he wanted to go on vacation with us and told him we couldn't go cuz they don't get along. Okay. So, there was Nick Nick didn't do anything wrong. There's no reason for you guys to come home. Okay. I apologize for for the neighbor. I understand that. I understand that why I'm going to jail. Um but she I was just so upset that they ruined my vacation and took my husband from me and you guys you guys understand that, right? Just a little bit. >> Again, everything is being on video recorded right now as well. We just have to tell you all this. >> But I'm just saying do you guys like as just as people, not as cops, you guys understand that that like really sucks. Like if someone were to come to your house, were you going on vacation and take your wife from you? >> At this point, you should not be saying stuff like that. >> I'm just saying like as a person that >> you said Nick was the one who called. >> No, Justin. >> Justin, >> I can understand that it's extremely difficult situation, >> but there's just other stuff going on. >> So on our side as professionals, >> I understand. But as but as a person, we understand how shitty that would be. >> Yep. The suspect desperately tried to make the officers understand her side of why she was a little upsetty spaghetti, but they stuck to procedure and prepared her for transport to jail. >> This is so long on vacation right now. >> So, what were you saying to your neighbor? >> I just thought she was a snitch and that she should have let my husband hide. >> What else? >> And then I hope she did with anything else. >> No, I'm sorry. You didn't even answer my identification. >> I did. >> No, you didn't. Officer, you're hurting me. You're hurting me. Officer, you're hurting me. It put it got in front of cars and all that." >> And I was already I was already turning. >> Okay. >> I was just going to the store cuz I lost my phone and I was trying to retract my step. Coming up, the officers confronted the suspect about the strong odor of alcohol on her breath. >> Have you had anything to drink today? >> No. >> Cuz you weak of alcohol. >> No. That was literally like I literally got off work at 8:00 p.m. >> I missed. You know what time it is now? >> Yes. >> 8:00 in the morning. >> 8:00 in the morning. Exactly. >> You got DUI, too. >> Yeah. >> She's hammered. >> Yeah, I agree. I'm going to ask her if she wants to do SFS. Hey, Miranda, I got a question for you. Okay. Listen, I believe you're under the influence of alcohol. Would you be willing to >> I would be. >> You would be willing to complete standardized field sobriety? >> I would be because I wasn't under the influence. I was looking for my vehicle. I mean looking for my car in my friend's vehicle. >> Okay. >> I didn't go anywhere. And you know that I didn't You made a U-turn behind me. >> I did because I >> You made a U-turn behind me because it was on a yellow light and I had to ride away and I made the right turn. >> That's incorrect. I told you why I pulled you over. You failed to stop. >> And even after that, >> listen, I'm not arguing. Give me just a second. anymore though. >> She refusal, >> huh? No, she just told me she would do it. >> Despite Miranda claiming that she was willing to take a sobriety test, it soon became clear that she had agreed to a breathalyzer test, not the classic field sobriety test involving the walk and turn, etc. >> If I pass the breathalyzer, will I be able to get away for this? >> Is that your probable cause? >> Give me just a second. Okay, I'll come. I'm going to come around and talk to you. >> Is that your probable cause? >> Give me one second. I'm gonna come around and talk to you because it's hard to hear you from up here. Okay, give me just one minute. >> I think she believes that I'm about to do a breathalyzer and I think that's what she agreed to do cuz she's asking me if I pass the breathalyzer right here, am I going to go free? >> Oh, okay. Hey, Miranda, what deputy wants you to do is field sobriety exercises. >> Okay. >> Do you know what the difference between that and the the breathalyzer is? >> Yes. What I asked was uh is that the probable cause? The probable cause is a traffic stop and the odor of alcohol. >> Right. But he didn't give me the odor of alcohol. He pulled me out of my vehicle because he said I made a traffic in violation, but didn't give me the give you the description of that. >> But we're not going to stand here and debate the reason for this. >> But I know you you know that I've stopped you've been stopped before and I've been in the jail because the hurricane and I can't go at to jail because of gone. So I was very compliant because of that. So there was no reason for me not to be compliant. That being with that being said, why would I go back to jail knowing that my bond can be revoked and I could go to jail for that? >> What we're asking you to do is field sobriety exercises. >> My thing is is if I will be able to pass that, what will go after that? >> We would make a determination at that point. >> Determination at that point. >> Yep. >> And will I be able to get a a traffic? >> I'm not going to tell you one way or the other because we're not there yet. Okay, there's I'm not going to hold everything over your head or tell you that we're going to >> being very very understanding and I'm trying to understand what's going on at this point. Even if I were to pass or not pass, where is the violation >> that I committed? >> Again, I'm not going to debate. >> I I don't know the violation that I committed. >> At this point, it became clear that Miranda had no interest in performing the field sobriety exercises as she had already figured that her next stop would likely be jail no matter what. >> You're under arrest for DUI. >> Thank you. I can pass the DUI test. >> Sir, >> that female I ran through. >> You're really going to ruin my life. >> I'll be in route to jail. I'll put my starting in the cat >> over at traffic stop. >> Miranda, these are these are questions that you >> No, those are questions I didn't I didn't have. I told you as soon as I made contact at your window, I needed your driver's license registration and >> I didn't you didn't even give me you didn't I I have the right to ask what I did wrong. >> And I told you what you did. I told you I said I stopped you because you failed to stop coming out. >> I did fail I did stop. I did stop because this light was red before it would turn yellow. >> Okay. But you stopped at that. You stopped at the red light. >> The red light said and then you went and you were the only car that was going straight. >> You failed and you failed to stop. >> You were the only car that was going straight. Deputy Thomson, >> it does not matter. >> You were the only car that was going straight. >> Talking. >> You were the only car that was going straight. >> We're done. >> I think you're you're just trying to have a sword fight with me. >> You're very good at arguing. >> I'm not good at arguing. I'm good at telling the truth. >> Oh. So, did you stop coming out of >> Yes, I did. I put that on all my own life. I could >> Don't do that. >> I put that on Jesus. I put it on God. >> The woman was ultimately charged with DUI and resisting arrest with violence. Yes, sir. >> Hey, you can roll the window down for me. >> No. >> Okay. Well, then you need to step out of the vehicle. >> No, I don't. >> Yes, this is a traffic stop. >> For what? What crime? >> For multiple different IVC violations. If you roll your window down so we can talk. I'm officer called Bloomington Beach Police. I'm wearing a body camera. Okay. There's several reasons why I'm stopping you. Number one, you don't have a front license plate on your vehicle. Number two, you failed the signal 100 ft prior to your turn. Number three, when you turned off of Morris, right in front of my squad car. Now, I don't have to repeat it for you on your camera, okay? I'm repeating it on my time. She's refusing to get out of the vehicle and won't roll her window down. So, we're going to bust it. >> You going to get out of the vehicle? >> Are you going to get out of the vehicle? >> Get out of the vehicle. >> The officer gave the driver multiple reasons for the stop and several chances to step out of the vehicle, but she completely blew any opportunity to cooperate and the officer's patience started to wear thin. >> I haven't done it yet. >> You're under arrest for obstructing. Get out of the vehicle. Are you going to get out or do you want your window busted? You're trying to make a big scene and it's your fault for not exiting the vehicle. >> A car. >> You're in a car and you've made multiple IBC violations and now you're not identifying yourself with a driver's license and you're not providing insurance and you're not stepping out of the vehicle. >> I will give you my >> Get out of the vehicle now.
