You done? >> I'm done. >> The star of today's body cam video apparently got her law degree from Facebook comments because she is absolutely convinced that if she just simply keeps repeating the same made-up legal buzzwords over and over and over then enough times that the police will just apologize and send her on her merry way. Spoiler alert, that's not exactly how this works. >> Can you pop the window down for me? >> That's my attorney. >> Okay. I'm Officer Frederick Stevens, police officer I have you recorded. Reason I stopped you is your tabs are expired. 2024. Any reason they're so far expired? >> No, sir. I'm going to videotape this for my attorney. >> Great. I am, too. I need your driver's license, registration, and insurance, please. I need your driver's license, registration, and insurance, please. It's a lawful stop. You are required to identify yourself with all three of documents. Traffic infraction and now it's a lawful detention. Now you need to give me your driver's license, registration, and your insurance. Are you going to provide me with your driver's license, registration, and insurance? >> I'm not doing anything wrong, sir. >> Great. That's awesome. I need your driver's license, registration, and your insurance. >> I'm not. >> It is obstruction for you not to provide that information for me. >> I'm not doing anything >> [laughter] >> Classic case of I'm not doing anything wrong. It doesn't matter if you think you're doing anything wrong or not. You've been pulled over and you need to identify yourself and not providing such information is obstruction. And you're going to end up getting arrested when this could just simply be a routine traffic stop and you end up leaving with a citation or a warning. Come on, let's not be stupid. I think she's about to be real stupid. >> Didn't ask. I need your driver's license, registration, and insurance. Need to identify yourself. Driver's license, registration, and insurance. When my sergeant gets here, if you're not going to comply with that, we're going to break the window and pull you out of the car. >> Oh, damn. He just straight-up told her, "If you don't comply by the time the sergeant gets here, we're going to break THE FREAKING WINDOW." >> [laughter] >> OH, THIS officer appears to be in a I don't give a [ __ ] kind of mood. He must have had a long night. He must have had one too many people that he's had to deal with a little bit too long. He's not taking anyone's [ __ ] tonight. I am here for it. He said, "Bitch, if you don't comply, we're going to break the damn window and we'll make you comply." Oh, boy. Oh, boy. Oh, boy. >> Got a traveler who doesn't want to give me any ID. And she's refusing to identify herself. Says she doesn't need to. Says she does. She's refusing to do so. >> For my attorney. >> Nope. Hi, ma'am. How are you? I'm Sergeant Heineman. So, failing to ID is going to get you in jail. >> I'm traveling, officer. >> Okay. You're going to be traveling to jail if you don't identify yourself. Okay. So, driving is a privilege, not a right. And you have to identify yourself. And And you have to identify yourself, or you're going to end up in jail for failing to identify. All right? It's a misdemeanor. So, either we can break this pretty little window, or you can provide some sort of identification to my partner here. And you can claim to sue. You can try to sue. >> Okay, she can try. Okay, cuz you can sue anybody for anything anymore. Let's just, you know, kind of a sad world we live in, but also a very nice world that we live in regarding that. Like, you can sue anybody for anything. Good for some people, bad for others. Gives us the freedom to try to screw with people. I get it. Depending on the circumstance, I'll even support it. But, suing the police department for breaking your window when you are clearly not complying with the law, yeah, I think that that's a battle you're not going to win. >> Or I can break the window, we can pull you out, and throw you in jail. The crime is failing to identify, like I just explained. It's a misdemeanor, and it's going to end up with you in jail if you don't do that. And so, this is your last chance, or else we're going to go that route. Have you provided my partner with identification? No. So, failing to identify is that RCW, and that's the misdemeanor. Now, I can give you a business card if you want, so you can stop. Huh? Okay. So, hop out of the car, and we'll we'll cross that bridge when you want it. But, as of now, you're under arrest for failing to identify. I can't hear if you're thinking I'm listening to whoever's talking on the phone. Okay. So, I can't hear him if you're You have. Failing to identify is that crime. You're You're going to be traveling to jail. You're failing to identify. It's a >> [laughter] >> I'm traveling. I am traveling. >> He's just like, "Honey, you're going to be traveling to jail if you don't start doing what YOU'RE TOLD." >> I DON'T UNDERSTAND. OKAY, I WHY is it so hard for so many people to respect authority? Like, I don't understand. I don't understand. Listen, the side of the road is not the place to hold court, okay? If you truly think that you did nothing wrong, comply, go through the measures. You're only going to make it worse on yourself if you refuse to comply with all of the things that these officers are saying. Even if you truly believe that you did nothing wrong, you are a victim, that they are abusing their power, and you are planning to sue them. Okay, well, you know what you do? If you truly believe that, you keep your freaking mouth shut, you comply, you go along with everything that they're saying, and then you take them to court, you get a big old settlement, and you retire early. Why does nobody think to do this? Instead, you want to hold court on the side of the road, dig your heels in, and then end up having them drag you out of your car, getting arrested? Cuz yeah, that on body cam is going to help you in court. No. No, it's not. That was sarcasm. >> It's a misdemeanor. I provided you ample warnings to get out of the car and to cooperate, and you're not doing so. So, if you're listening to your husband, he's giving you bad information. >> What's your badge number? >> 133. You just took down my whole name. >> Is that your badge number? >> So, you can tell your husband that I don't want to break your window. >> Is your body cam recording? >> It is. You see the red light there? >> Can I just say that the police officer that we were watching, the sergeant and this woman go back and forth, the body cam of the police officer, he's like He's gearing up. We're going to break that [ __ ] window. We're going to break that [ __ ] window. I'M HYPING UP. IT'S LIKE HE HE'S HYPING HIMSELF UP. HE'S LIKE, YEAH, let's do this. Let's do this, man. Let's do this. He's like The camera is going back and forth. He is hyping himself up. He's ready to break some [ __ ] >> That is recording. Yeah. Your husband's not here, and he's not the reason why we're pulling you over. I'm going to give you one last chance to cooperate, and if you don't, then the window's going to get broken, and I'm going to we're going to end up taking you to jail. If he's talking, don't expect me to listen to him. I cannot hear him. Okay. So, ma'am, I'm going to explain to you one more time. If you did not cooperate, you're going to end up going to jail for failing to identify. >> Okay, why do you not I didn't my identification. Is that it? >> Failing to identify yourself on a legal traffic stop is a misdemeanor crime. I'm going to end up breaking your window. The car is going to end up getting towed. You're going to end up in jail. I need to provide Give me identification. And you can go ahead and roll the window all the way down. You can go ahead and hang up the phone, too, because you're an adult. You can handle this by yourself without your husband. You done? >> I'm done. >> Okay. It's nothing. Force. >> Holy [ __ ] that was smooth. I Oh my god, they could have at least told her to close her eyes. >> [laughter] >> BE LIKE, "BITCH, HERE WE GO. CLOSE YOUR EYES UNLESS YOU WANT SHARDS OF GLASS IN IT." HOW HOW did they do that? I want to watch Let's watch that again. I How did they DO THAT? >> OKAY. >> I THOUGHT THAT THEY JUST USED TELEKINESIS. I thought that they just used the power of their minds to shatter that freaking glass. They were so fast, I didn't even realize that they reached their hands up there and pulled down the freaking window. Dang, she could She could have got a lot of glass in a lot of places. It's risky risky to do that. I can I can see why they like worked their way up to it and they didn't automatically jump to that because they could have hurt her. That was That was a lot of glass. Holy cow, that was That was freaking That was wild. Let's see where it goes from here. >> You one resisting was cut for negative on the air. >> I'm at the Arco on 9. I 9. Where are you taking me, sir? >> Jail. >> Where? Which one? >> We'll We'll tell you in a second. You're the adult. We'll talk to you. You're here. >> phone and my purse. >> Do you give me permission to access your vehicle to get your phone and your purse? >> I do give you permission to >> Didn't ask for that. >> I would like my purse and my phone and >> So this is why I'm talking to you, ma'am. If you give me permission to get these things for you, I will happily do so. >> I would like I give you permission to get my phone and my purse and backpack, please. >> Say it one more time. >> I give you permission to get my phone and my purse and backpack. It's on the on the dashboard. Yep. >> You can hang out here so you can watch what I'm doing for you, okay? Phone. Giving it to my partner. And what else? Gray bag, black bag? >> Black bag. That black bag and then I have a green purse. >> Black bag, green purse. Okay, is there anything valuable in this backpack because the jail might not take that cuz it's too large. >> Okay, just my green purse then. >> Uh >> It's >> Floorboard? >> Yeah, it it might have fallen down. Yeah, it's kind of >> Can we go around to the other side so I don't have to climb over? >> Can you might need to unlock >> It looks unlocked. Let's walk you over there. >> Okay. Put it on me? Okay, this is a little >> Do you have keys for this? >> Actually, can you take it off? I can't have that. Um >> Do you want it forward? >> Yes, that's better. >> Cool. >> Um >> Are there keys for this? >> There are, but >> Oh, there's >> Yep. >> Okay. I'm actually going to have my other >> [laughter] >> She's suddenly so polite. She gets her freaking window shattered and handcuffed and suddenly she's willing to comply and she's so polite. >> [laughter] >> It's funny how that happens. >> Partner search you. Her shoes are here. You mind doing a search for me? I appreciate you. This is Officer Van Hook. She's going to search you incident to arrest, okay? >> Okay. >> 1914 next rotational for you though. >> Um, no. Yeah, I have a t-shirt on and a bra and I have a EMS device on my neck. It looks kind of funny but it helps with what's going on with this. Radiation. Oh, I I was moving today. I moved >> Okay. It doesn't come off? >> Yeah. >> Take that off. >> I don't think I have anything in that back pocket in there. >> I don't think so. All right, I'm going to just take the hat off. Make sure nothing in here. All right, back of my hand. >> have my belt my belt back on, please? >> I didn't take Oh, the moving belt? >> Yes. >> Um, once we get through with this. Um, okay, is it a regular bra or sports bra? >> Regular bra. Regular bra. >> Okay. All right, so back my hands. Okay. That I do want it flat out of your way at all? With the hat? >> I like it kind of um, split in the back and coming forward in my hood. It's like when I'm wearing a hood. Does that make sense? Like kind of part it in the back and bring some hair forward on my right hair forward on my left and then I push my hood up. Other side. And then kind of scrunch my hood up a little bit. >> Okay. $16 in cash. >> Okay, great. >> Okay. Go right over this way. >> to take care of my items? >> Um, yeah. I mean, we're going to have the car towed. Is that what you're asking? >> No, I mean like my >> Of your purse? >> Yeah. >> Yeah, everything that can go with you is going to go with you to the jail. And then they'll book it in there. Yeah, they're tight, actually. Are they >> They're way too tight. They're very tight. >> Let me kind of see. So, I can get my whole finger through here and that means it >> on this side cuz it's like same. Same. So, maybe if you rotate your wrist cuz they're they're an oval shape. >> Okay. So, he'll be with you in just a second. >> All righty, ma'am. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right at this time to speak to a lawyer and have him present while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent you before questioning if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise these rights and not answer any questions. Do you understand these rights as I have explained them to you? >> Yes. >> Perfect. So, your wallet's going to go with us. Phone's going to go with us. The purse has a bunch of other random things in it that went back in the car. So, I grabbed your priority items and they're going to go with us to the jail, okay? And then >> The window's broken. Can you cover it up like the backpack and my stuff so someone doesn't just get it? >> It's going to get towed and then we'll do an inventory of the things that are in there. >> Okay. >> And then, is there a way you want this turned off so you have battery? >> That's good. >> That was his low-key way of saying, "I don't give a [ __ ] if someone steals your stuff. We'll inventory everything after it's towed." >> [laughter] >> Yeah, there is there is probably the likelihood that someone could just reach their greedy little grubs into your vehicle since the window is broken and take that large backpack that likely has some expensive valuables in there. Yeah, someone could absolutely steal that before the tow truck takes the car away, but they don't care. Sorry. Like, "We don't give a [ __ ] We'll inventory everything after it's impounded." >> Question. Yeah, it'd be good to turn it on. >> All right. Cuz there's >> It's the top right button and then I think the second button down on the left. Um and I Oh, there you go. >> Yes. >> Perfect. >> Okay. All right. >> Step on out for me. >> Okay. >> Step up on the curb. Watch the curb. After you. The suspect faces charges for driving with expired tags, obstructing justice, and resisting arrest. [music] >> So, that's why they pulled her over originally? Because her tags were expired? Her tags were expired and she turned it into a whole scene. Seriously? That's why? >> [sighs] >> You were just going to get a simple citation for this, you dumbass. You were just going to get a simple citation. You could have gone on your merry little way, continued traveling wherever you were intending to travel on to. I I really think her husband made this way, way worse because he's on the phone, "You don't have to do this and you don't have to do that." She should have just complied. Listening to her husband got her charges upgraded, in my opinion. Now, would she have behaved this way if her husband wasn't on the phone? There's a strong likelihood. At the end of the day, it was all her fault. It was all her fault. It was so stupid. I wonder how much a new window's going to cost.
