WHY ARE YOU BEING so aggressive? >> In today's body cam, we're watching someone take a situation that couldn't possibly get any worse, and then somehow make it worse every single minute. By the end, she's threatening complaints, demanding names, insulting everyone around her, and somehow still acting confused about why she's going to jail. >> On August 7th, 2023, officers responded to an accident. Upon arrival, the victim directed them to the lady in question, who appeared to be drunk. Here's what happened next. >> Yep. >> She's trying to escape now, I know. >> Of course. >> She's completely drunk. Come come here. She's out. >> Yeah, she's trying to hurt me. >> Hey, Mike 20, show me 37. >> Dropping everything and, you know, >> I'm going to go. >> You got a weapon? Left one. >> Is this her? >> That's the lady. >> Don't try to do >> I think she's trying to hurt me. She's very intoxicated. >> Okay. Hey, ma'am. How are you? >> I'm good. Well, I I don't I don't believe you, ma'am. I You You have got front end damage to the front of your vehicle. You said that you drove here. >> Despite repeated requests for her name, the woman remained uncooperative and provided a false name. >> What What's your name, ma'am? >> Um I need to find my phone. >> What's your name, ma'am? >> Can I borrow your phone? >> Uh I'm not going to let you borrow my phone unless I know what who you are. >> I think I just left my phone maybe with at my friend's house. >> At your friend's house? So, did you go to your friend's house before or after the bike ride? >> Yeah, yeah, yeah, we ride every We ride every day. We ride >> You do? >> Yeah, we ride. >> We're on an Apple Watch in Ohio. >> What's your name? Do you have your ID on you? >> Did I leave my phone with my friend? Did I leave my phone with you? I'm at the library. I can't find my phone. Do you have my phone? >> [laughter] >> Do you have my phone? >> Well, I mean, kudos to this lady. She knows how to use her freaking Apple Watch. I could never figure out how to use mine. Or maybe she doesn't know how to use it cuz she keeps repeating herself. Is her friend drunk, too? Do you have my phone? >> [laughter] >> It's so wild to me how you can not have your phone and use your freaking watch to call people. I seriously I couldn't figure out how to use mine. That's why I stopped wearing it. I don't have an iPhone, but I had like a a Samsung-y kind of one or whatever. I could never figure out how to use it. It's too high-tech for me. >> Okay, I don't have my phone. I think I left >> name, ma'am? What's your name? >> I'm not going to tell you my name. >> Well, you are currently being detained. >> What? >> For a motor vehicle accident. >> For what? >> You struck another vehicle with your vehicle. >> Uh, no, I didn't. >> Yes, you did. >> No, I didn't. >> Why do you say you didn't? >> I did not. >> Okay. I did not. >> So, what is your name? I just want to be able to be polite and interact with you. I'm Officer Ryan. What What's your name? >> Uh, Penelope. >> Penelope? What's your last name? >> I'm not going there. >> Okay. All right. Um, are you Are you willing to do some uh field tests for me to make sure that you're not intoxicated today? >> No, I'm not. I'm not. >> not intoxicated? >> No, I was riding bicycles. >> Okay. >> pants? >> I understand that. So, I don't understand why you're not being cooperative with me. >> I'm not. >> Okay. >> I just needed a can of paint. >> I understand. I see you got a can of paint. And it seems like you're also struggling to get out of here. >> I >> You don't have your phone, you don't have your wallet, you don't have your your ID, keys, anything. >> I do have my ID. >> Okay. So, at this point, if you're going to refuse field tests, we're going to escalate this. I'm going to arrest you for OVI. >> What's that? >> Operating a vehicle impaired. >> No. >> Okay. So, from the evidence I've gotten from witnesses, I'm getting an odor of alcoholic beverage coming from you, and you're severely disoriented. You've locked your keys in the car. You're struggling to communicate with me effectively, and you're struggling to communicate well over the phone with whoever you're on the phone with. >> have my phone. I left it with Mark. >> So, >> my friend. >> are you are you willing to do the field test? Show me that you're not impaired. >> No. >> Okay. >> willing to do anything, sir. >> Not willing to do anything. Okay. Can you turn around and put your hands behind your back? >> No. >> Nope. All right. >> Was the officer not listening? She said she's not willing to do anything, including turning around and putting her hands behind her back. >> [laughter] >> Man, locking your keys in the car is the smartest thing I've ever seen a drunk person do. You lock your keys in the car, you can't drive drunk. Sounds like a good idea to me. That's her subconscious keeping her off the road. We should all hope that all drunk drivers are this smart. Speaking of smart, she's operating her Apple Watch while intoxicated. Now, I'm extra impressed. >> No. >> to turn around and put your hands behind your back. >> All right. Okay. All right. >> I'll do the thing. I'll do the thing. >> Too late. We've already passed it. Turn around and put your hands behind your back. >> No, I'll do the thing. >> Give me your other hand. Give me your other hand. >> thing. >> Give me your other hand. >> Don't don't touch me. I will report you. I will do the thing. Put your hands together, like you're praying. >> Don't do this. I will walk the walk, whatever you want. >> Nope. Too late. >> No. We're not doing that. No, we not doing this. No, I no, no, no, no, no, no, we're not doing this. You are not. Do not touch me. Please do not touch me. I will report you. That hurts. >> Put your hands behind your back now. >> [laughter] >> That second OFFICER IS COMING IN HOT READY TO BLOW UP SOME [ __ ] >> PUT YOUR HANDS BEHIND YOUR BACK. >> [laughter] >> I DIDN'T THINK THAT THE FIRST OFFICER needed help that dramatically, but I mean at least they're getting the job done. I can't believe she was resisting like that. Man, whenever I get drunk, I don't have that kind of strength. I'd be like, "Yeah, just do it. Let's go." >> [laughter] >> Guys, come on. >> Mary 12, we're one detained. >> hurting anyone. >> You're under arrest for resisting. >> Resisting me in what? >> Resisting arrest. Yeah, you just stacking charges. >> I don't know. I didn't do anything, ma'am. >> If you didn't do anything, you should listen to what they say. >> I know. I know. >> That's how people get hurt. >> Mary 12, we're 1 in 99. I don't know her information or anything yet, so. Is this her car? >> No, this is her car. >> All right, let's go. >> Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. No, stop. >> I I will drag you to this car in front of everybody. I don't care, let's go. >> I have questions. >> Well, you lost that privilege. >> I have questions. I want to know. >> You're under arrest for OVI, resisting arrest, and obstruction. >> Can I just please call my husband? >> Nope. >> No? >> You're going to go to jail. >> Oh, great. All right. Do you have your cameras on? >> Yep. >> You are a grown-ass woman. Why are you acting this way? Like I understand like a little feisty thing in her 20s thinking that she's all that and a bag of potato chips. But this this woman's like freaking 50 years old. Don't you know better? Don't you know better? Like I'm viewing this woman like my mother. My mother would know better. Why doesn't she know better? Is this just how she is when she gets drunk? And why is she this drunk at 6:00 in the evening? 6:00? I mean, I know it's 5:00 somewhere, but she's so drunk, she freaking had to have started way earlier. Did she start it like brunch? Did she like get together with her girlfriends for brunch, have a few too many mimosas, and then be like, "All right, [ __ ] let's go on a bike ride." And then as they're on a bike ride, then she starts thinking to herself, "Oh, yeah, I needed that can of spray paint so that I could redo the bench in my front yard." And so then she's all driving drunk to Lowe's to get the spray paint because she wants to, you know, spray paint the bench in her front yard. And then she's just kind of like that got an attitude problem. Is she just that far gone? I don't understand why this woman is acting this >> [laughter] >> She should know better. >> [ __ ] >> I need my phone. >> Well, you'll be lucky to get that. >> Why do you have to be so mean? >> Why do you have to not listen to us? So, go ahead and take a seat in the car. >> I am a really nice woman. >> Well, you're not showing that right now. Go and sit in the car. >> Why do you have to be so mean? >> Well, it is >> I was on >> 6:00. You're intoxicated. Go and sit in the car. >> I was on a bike ride with my That's what >> I'm saying, even the cop is like [ __ ] it is 6:00 and you are this drunk. I'm really a nice woman. Well, then start listening. Why are you fighting? You're just stacking up charges and you're embarrassing yourself. >> car. >> And I stopped to get cash. >> Sit in the car or I'm going to put you in there. >> Don't be so mean. >> Sit in the car or I'm going to put you in there. >> YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE SO MEAN. >> SIT IN THE CAR. >> I WILL. WHY ARE YOU BEING so aggressive? >> Sit in the car. >> Jesus God. >> Sit in the car. This is your opportunity. >> or I'm going to pull you in. Oh my God. >> Here's what the witnesses conveyed to the police. She hit your car, too? >> No, no, no. She was the one following her. Cuz she >> She hit my car. >> Okay. >> She came out of nowhere like and just hit that that Lowe's display that's up there right across from Chick-fil-A. >> Okay. >> There's three big stacks of something and then there's a sign that says like Lowe's big event or >> Okay, so she hit that? >> that and it was like no reason. Like nobody was in her way. >> Okay. >> And she hit that and bounced off >> Uh-huh. >> and then just came flying down here. So I followed her down here. I wanted to at least get a picture of her license plate. >> Okay. >> And she was like reckless and then I pulled up and then right after they came to my window they said did you see what happened to my car? And I'm like no. It happened in the last few minutes. >> Okay, well It's definitely her car. I mean, yeah. Yeah. I have a feeling she came through reckless She's had that car for a long time. >> Okay. >> And when she came out she couldn't even stand up. >> Okay. We'll get a written statement from you and then we'll try to get you out of here as quick as possible. All right. Let me get a statement. Okay. >> Oh my God. >> Cathy. Jesus Christ. Oh, honey, Cathy can't help you. >> [laughter] >> Is she talking to you through her watch from the backseat? Maybe they should take that off her wrist. >> [screaming] >> Hello. Little boy, can I get my phone out of my car, please, to call my husband? Hello. >> Do you need anything else from me? >> Yes, I need my phone. No, I need my phone. Oh, hello. Uh you accosted me and I'm sorry I don't remember what the [ __ ] is your name. And it's raining and I'm trying to get home. And what IS YOUR NAME? >> [screaming] >> OH MY GOD, YOU'RE JERKING me around back here. I'm recording you. I am so recording you. And now I'm handcuffed. I'm recording you. What is your name, sir? >> [laughter] [laughter] >> I'm recording you. What is your name, sir? Oh my god, she's funny. She's funny, man. I can understand how she's annoying the [ __ ] out of these police officers, but you got to admit, she's a pretty funny drunk. She's obstinate, but she's funny. Ryan, Officer Ryan. I've got lots of stuff on you, Ryan. Ryan, you little [ __ ] Give me my purse. That is mine. Where are we going? Where are we going? Answer me, Ryan. Where are we going? >> We're still going to the jail. >> You better tell me where the jail is or I'm going to report what you said. Clermont County Jail. Could you please tell me where that is? >> It's in Clermont. >> Oh my god. I can't even see. You better turn on your windshield wipers, buddy. I'm going to report you. I can't see out of the window. Turn them on faster, please. What the [ __ ] I'm in Lowe's buying paint. What the hell is with you guys? Ah! Oh my god. Do you think I am a risk? Jesus God, you guys are unreal. Like I'm a grandma. I've never been arrested. I've never had anything. Why are you doing this? Clermont County Jail. Oh, perfect. Oh, perfect. Out in the boonies with the boonie boonie people. Jesus God, you all make me sick. And the man that was in my face yelling at me, what the [ __ ] was his name? Sergeant what? Huh? Uh you have to talk louder. I'm hard of hearing. I left my hearing aids at home. What was the name of the officer that had his face in my face yelling at me? You better tell me his name or it's going to go on the record that you refuse to do so. >> Oh, no, not the record. >> [laughter] >> It's going to go on the record if she doesn't get his name right now. Oh my gosh, man oh man. I bet she's a hoot on wine night with the girls. >> Get me out. My shoulders are killing me. >> Swing your feet first. >> My shoulders are killing me. >> I'm staying right there. >> I'm a bike rider. I'm >> No, you seem like you're in good shape then. >> What? >> You said you're a If you're a bike rider, you're in good shape then, right? Okay. We're going this way. >> Was that derogatory? >> NO, WHAT? >> WHAT? >> [laughter] >> WAS THAT DEROGATORY? He said that if you're a bike rider, you should be in good shape. How is that insulting? You literally just said that you're a grandmother. He's trying to pay you a compliment. Good god, lady. >> No, I said you're >> Yes, it was. Oh my god. >> Oh, man. >> Oh my god. You are going down. Man, most people pick one excuse and then just stick with it. This woman tried every excuse in the catalog. She wasn't there. She was bike riding. She lost her phone. She lost her keys. Everyone was mean. Everybody's aggressive. Everyone is wrong. The only explanation that never seemed to cross her mind was the right one. And uh that's usually how these body cams end.
