Wow. >> You stand at me. >> You only have to respect elders who respect the law. >> I'm trying to talk to you and you're acting like this. >> Are you quit? >> I am actually a Republican. I voted for child. >> Let's go over here. >> I voted for this. >> The rest can finish knitting their sweaters in jail. >> I just watched a video of you running. >> Sir, I'm not running. >> Not now. >> Yes, but what I'm saying is arrested for wax. >> Shot that thing. Today, Detective Dale will take us through five cases where officers arrest grandmas who have no regard for the law. >> Come out here. >> Are you not coming? >> Come out here. >> I don't have to. You >> listen to me now. >> By law, officers aren't obligated to treat grandmas differently than anyone else. But it's hard to lay down the law on Granny. That is until she starts acting like a toddler. These suspects may be old, but the cases sure never get old. I did not run over his foot. >> He has marks on his foot. >> Let me see the foot. >> Being the first to call the police first doesn't automatically mean they'll take your side. That's the hard lesson this grandma is about to learn. >> Looks like you did something. >> The attitude. >> Who are you're giving me the attitude? >> I don't have an attitude. I am tired of stuff. >> On July 7th, 2024, officers responded to a call from a woman who had become involved in a heated argument with her son. As the officers talk to her, she paints a perfect picture of herself as a victim, but her story doesn't quite add up. >> I do need um just tell him to stay over there. I'll be right with you. I'll be right with you. >> Um there's video across the street. I need to get it over. >> Yes, ma'am. Did you call us? >> I call. >> Okay. What happened? >> As usual. >> What's as usual? his throwing fits through all of his drink across his across to me. I mean, his normal throwing fits hitting. >> Okay. And >> these guys, if they're involved, >> he just went there and came out and talked to me. >> No, that's a problem. We don't even get along. >> They seem to be okay that he was there. >> No, he does not need to be there. >> Okay. >> We don't get along here at all. >> Okay. What? Let's let's start with what happened here. >> So, do you know about Aiden at all? >> I I know a little bit. >> Okay. So, they were here two nights ago. >> Okay. >> He took off running. >> Okay. >> We finally found him. >> Okay. >> He's abusive. I have not filed any charges against him because I'm trying to get him into residential. It's a freaking red flag. >> What's a red flag? >> Putting them if they get charged. >> If any assault him. >> Okay. residential will put a flag on him and it's harder to get him in. I've been trying over 9 months. >> All right. Well, you we're we're jumping ahead here. >> You asked me what's going on. >> I need to know what happened now, >> not before. >> Like Okay. So, >> just now. Why are we getting calls here? >> Oh, cuz he went ballistic in my car here. You want to come see all the lemonade he threw? >> Okay. >> The lemonade. So, what where what happened? You went to Culver's. >> No, I picked him up. We He had a He had his uh cross country today. So this morning I got him up cuz he doesn't get up. I took him. I got all his stuff, took him. I went to the cross country. When I got there, he like blew me off like I didn't even exist cuz we had a lot of problems. >> Okay. >> And so I talked to his coach. >> Who's that? >> Coach Hall. Um, actually, Officer Snow was supposed to be talking with the social worker. >> Okay. >> On Friday, they were here Thursday night. I've been doing this for seven freaking years. >> You're his guardian. >> Mhm. >> Okay. >> So, um, and I went there and I was like, "Hey, Aiden, you got stuff together?" And he wouldn't even talk to me. I'm like, "Okay, whatever." He's been in that mode. So I said to the coach, I said, "Can I ask you something? I think we need to have a meeting." He goes, "Yeah." I said, "Adan, half the time doesn't go to these his goes, I know. He keeps lying to us and telling us that you have to pick him up early." I said, "That's not true." I said last year I said you know across country and stuff we had to just bow out because he wasn't following through any instructions and that's Aiden. So today he said yep. I said well then I think we need to I'm not going to get into it today but can we get a meeting with you the social worker Tylenne and stuff and let's Tylenol let's let's get through this. I said cuz school is D's and Fs. He doesn't listen at home. I have no control. We're trying to get him into resentment. >> Not only does her story keep changing, but while she narrates what a horrible person her son is, the officer couldn't help but notice the stench of alcohol emanating from her. When she's confronted about it, her behavior reveals a great deal about what may have happened before the officer arrived. >> So, you're coming around the corner right here and he was mouthing off. You smacked in the face. >> Well, actually got into the driveway and he just >> You smacked you smacked in the face. I hit him prior to that when Yeah, I hit him. >> Anything else physical happened? >> No. No. >> Okay. How about in the driveway? >> No. That's when he came in. I said, "You need to cut this." And he's like, >> So then he gets out of the car. I went to go back. You ran over my I didn't run over your foot. >> So he's out of the car and what? >> So I went to pull back a little bit. You're running over my foot. I saw him running over your foot. The And he just This is Aiden, though. This is his way of getting way out of hand stuff. He causes issues all the time. His counselor is telling him, "Adan, you better stop this. People in a lot of trouble along with you." And then he says to me, "Oh my god, you're drunk." I'm like, I what are you talking about? I've been at your game, came back, picked you up. What are you talking about? >> I have no clue. He's just >> so about the car running over thing. Let's We're >> jump. >> So you back you pulled in the lemonade got spilled. >> He threw the lemonade >> through threw the lemonade. He gets out and then you back up. >> The back door of his and I went to back up a little bit. So obviously he's >> Did the door hit him? The car hit him? >> Maybe the door might have. I don't know. >> Did he get knocked over? >> No. Did he fall back? No. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> Same. Can't do it. Were you drinking? >> No. >> I I honestly smell it. >> I haven't drank anything all day. No. >> Are you diabetic? >> No. And nothing's wrong with me. >> Okay. I The first alcohol was what I smelled. >> I don't have alcohol on me at all. I had his meat >> in Berwin. >> I'm just asking a question. >> No, I'm telling you. No. >> Okay. So when how was his demeanor after he the car? >> No, he's been like this as a >> No. When he got bumped the car hit his foot or the door? >> No, he did this and this and this and he just carried on. >> Did he fall on the ground? >> No, he didn't fall on the ground. He's fine. >> Did he take off running? >> Oh, he took off over here. >> Okay. >> Which he does. And like I said, we don't get along. >> Okay. >> So, and they've been here Thursday night. He gets along with them. You don't get along with them. >> They seem fine with him obviously right now, but I don't know anything. >> Okay. >> I I've been here a little bit, but >> we don't get along. >> We got along fine as until he started doing all this >> crap on my property. >> So, you don't care for them? >> Well, no. And I let them put the fence on my property line. Now he's got all these trees growing up. It's Yeah, we talked to him about it. >> Okay. Let's take a look over here of your car. >> Yeah. You guys need to get any snippers. The last time I sp I'm just looking on both sides here. >> He's been in behavior centers. >> Watch. You got bees everywhere right now. >> Yeah. He's been in behavior centers eight times. He's been here 24. You guys have been here 24 times. >> Okay. >> Yeah. No, this is And if you came to my house and saw her through. >> So, who are you dealing with at the school? What's the counselor? You mentioned counselors. >> So, Tylen is who um Officer Snow was going to go talk to on Friday. We know Officer Snow very well. He's been here several times. Um and then that's who his social worker is. So, I don't know if he got there Friday or not. I didn't get the opportunity to Did he go? Oh, great. So, she'll know and we'll probably talk this week. Um, and then I'm going to make an appointment with the coach because he said, "Yeah, I think we need to talk to we need to bring the >> Do you mind if we go back in the shade here?" >> Yeah. Nothing gets done with these kids. I'm the abuser and nothing gets done. And even Snow said to me, he said, "This is poor. I've been abused. I try not to file a charge against him so he get into a residential and here we are. I have to be the quiet one unless you do the full he does. I have pictures the police department has them. I'm done. >> That's the problem with talking too much. You're bound to trip over your own words and spill the truth. That's precisely what happens with this grandma who accidentally lets slip who the real victim is. And the officer wasn't the least bit shocked. >> I don't have the control of what happens outside of my >> I don't like an attitude coming here and trying to look at me like I've done something. No, I haven't. >> Who said you did something? >> The attitude. >> Who are you're giving me the attitude? >> I don't have an attitude. I am tired of stuff. >> Okay. I'm I'm trying to help you here, ma'am. I'm writing everything down. Okay, >> I'm documenting everything that I can. >> If you go ask all of them, they know exactly what I go through. He's a deputy sheriff and she works with kids of all of this. >> She's worked with Aiden for years, too. She doesn't understand why you not put some place because you know, >> you're going to hang out. You're going to hang out here for a little bit and I'll chat with I'm the one that's going to be someday. >> Do you want me to go chat with them over there and find out if they saw anything? Heard anything? >> Nobody saw anything. We just pulled up when all this happened. >> Okay. So, you're worried about being >> Oh, God. They all know that I'm worried about something happening to me. Even the police officers know. >> All right. Wait here. I'll be right back. They're not answering. I'm trying to get a hold of them across the street. They're not answering. >> They're not home. >> I I get that, but I was trying to call them. I'd like to Can I not file a charge against property damage >> for what? >> My car. >> Your car. >> Mhm. >> Tell me tell me about how this the the thing unfolded again. So you get into the driveway. He gets out of the car. >> Well, he got smart >> like Maui. >> Yeah. Okay. >> He said, "You need to cut this." >> Okay. >> He gets out of the Well, then he gets pissed and he threw the whole lemonade. >> Was the door open yet? The door wasn't open yet. No, he did that while he was in the car. >> So, you're in the car >> through the lemonade. >> Okay. >> And then he gets out of the car to get his stuff and my car I rolled back a little bit and they go, "Oh, you >> Why were you backing up?" >> I didn't want him to get into the back of the car and get stuff out of it. >> So, why did you back up the car? >> I just did. I'm like, "Get out of the back of the car." >> So, you know what? >> You knew he would had the door open and you backed up the car. I wait a tiny bit to get him out of the back seat. >> Does that make any sense to you? >> No, but does he make sense in all the I go through? >> What are you raising your voice to me for? >> You know what? >> I'm asking you a question. >> Okay, I'm done. I want to file a charge against him. >> I'm not filing charges against him. >> Then I'm just going to call the police and I will talk with them. I'll go down there. >> Well, we're not done with you now. >> What do you need with me? >> I need to find out more of what happened. >> I told you everything that happened. And why do I have to repeat it? cuz your stories are changing. >> No, they're not. >> Yes. You You admitted to backing up into him. >> I I didn't back up into him. He was had the backseat of the car open. I said, "Shut the car door. Get out of there." And he wouldn't. I rolled back a tiny bit. >> And you knew he was in the car? >> He wasn't in the car. >> He was in the back seat with the door open. >> He wasn't in the back seat. He was standing outside the car. The door was open and you start backing up. >> I rolled it. >> And then you ran over his foot. >> I did not run over his foot. >> He has marks on his foot. >> Let me see the foot. >> I have pictures right here. >> Okay. Let me see. >> Let's go back over here. >> Yeah. Let's go over here. I want to see. >> I took pictures of it. >> Yeah. You want all the pictures of me being abused and see doing nothing? >> Here. You want to see? I'll show you. >> Yeah. I want to see the mark. >> So, here is his foot. There is the scrape on his foot. That's from track and his shoes. >> Well, >> those are from his new shoes he wore. >> And then he has blood on his sock from it. >> Those are from his new shoes that he just >> And his shoe is crushed. >> Those Let me see the crushed shoe >> right there. There's a crease on the shoe right there. The other one doesn't have it. This one does. >> Okay. >> Ma'am, how much did you have to drink today? >> I haven't. >> Not a drop? >> No. >> So, if I bring a PBT here, you'll have nothing in your system. >> And I'm not doing with you guys. I'm done. I asked if I bring it. >> I'm done. >> Judy, you can't walk away from me now. >> You know what? I can't. You guys have done nothing with him who's abused me over and over. >> I'm dealing with now. You could run your mouth about every other thing that happened. I'm dealing with now. You called me here for now. >> I called you because he's out of control. >> Hey, I'm here. He's not under control. You're the one that's running your mouth. >> You admitted to backing into him. >> I didn't back into him. Are you listening to me? No, I did not back. How else do you explain it? >> Come here. Here's what he did. Threw a drink on me. He got out of the car. He went back here. I said, "Get out of the car." And he said, "No." I wasn't even going to go there. And I started to roll back. So, I could very well not have hit his foot unless I went back all this way. So, that's bull. I if you run over No, I did not. I went not even that far. I said, "Shut the car door." That's I would have had to go all the way back here, which I did not do. And you know that as well as I do. You can't have your foot here and think I rolled back that far. I did not. So, you can back up into him on purpose. >> I didn't back up into him. >> You just said you did. You backed up to keep him from going out. The >> tire is here. I did not roll over his foot. >> You're telling me I ran over his foot. >> I'm telling you you run over his foot. >> You tell me how far I would have had to go to roll over his foot. >> His what foot is it? >> I did not roll over his foot. >> All right. Did you back up? >> I rolled >> or pull forward? >> No, I didn't pull forward. I rolled back a little bit to get out of the back car >> and it was his left foot. >> Yeah. Well, how would I roll over his foot? I would have had to pull my car all the way back. He would have hit the right foot first. >> Think about it. >> The left foot was hit. >> I didn't touch his left foot. >> All right. >> That would have had to go this way. >> Does it make sense to back up with somebody? >> He just off. It didn't hurt him. >> I wanted him to get out of the back seat. And you know that was in there. >> Huh? >> What was so important to keep him out of there? >> He just he was being I got pissed off. If somebody throws you >> All right, I'm going to ask you again because you're slurring a ton. >> I'm not slurring my >> I'm going to bring I'm going to bring a PBT here and I'm going to see >> PPT >> because you have been drinking. >> No, I have not. And I'm not doing your PPTs. >> Like all liars, our grandma wants nothing to do with the police she originally called once she realizes they've caught on to her lies. You are sticking up for this kid for >> No, I'm not sticking up. I'm sticking up for what happened. >> I'm going to get the video from across the street. >> Go for it. >> You guys are not doing this to me. >> Doing what to you? >> Killing me. I have to drink blood alcohol. Are you kidding? >> Blowing a machine. Tell me that you got nothing in your system. >> I owe you nothing. >> No one would. If you had nothing in your system, you'd have no problem blowing. >> I don't owe you anything. If you can, >> if you have nothing in your system, >> what I've done? >> No, I don't because I smell it on you. >> You don't smell anything? >> I absolutely do. >> In on the roadway. Um, in his face. Ma'am, where are you going? Boy, she is just completely non-compliant. Just pulling right in the garage. Put her in custody. [Music] >> All right. Let me >> in my garage. >> Come out here. >> I'm not coming out. >> Come out here. >> I don't have to. You talk, >> ma'am. >> Listen to me now. >> I'm trying to talk to you and you're acting like this. >> Are you quit running away from me when I'm trying to do an investigation? >> Anything? How dare you touch me? >> Quit. >> No. here while I'm doing this. It's all recorded. >> I don't care. >> Don't run away from me again on me. I haven't done one thing. >> You have? >> No, I haven't. >> You called me. >> You picked me up like nothing >> cuz you're trying to get away from me again >> because you're accusing me of something I didn't do. >> I'm trying to do an investigation. I smell alcohol on you. >> I don't care what you >> And I can't confirm this. >> You know what? You touched me again. That's it. >> Ma'am, >> no. >> Your job right now. >> On my property. Get out of my >> You're not going any further. >> I could go to my house and if you >> Are they all? >> No. >> Are you kidding me? >> Quit over here. So, I don't know what's going on. >> He's trying to arrest me. >> I'm trying to keep you away from my property. >> I'm not leaving your property right now. >> No, I'm going to my house right now. >> You're staying out here. No, you're staying here. >> How can you tell me I have to stay here? >> Cuz you're in the middle of an investigation. >> I'm not. >> No. You know what? your tennis drinking. >> Tell I could tell that you've been drinking >> and they won't let me in my house and then he picks me up >> because you're trying to get away from me for >> I can't have you leaving the scene. >> When I'm done with the investigation, then we'll continue. I don't know if you understand the law that well, ma'am. >> I do understand, but I don't understand the harassment you're giving me. >> You're not listening to the police right now when we're part of investigation. Do you have police background? >> My husband's in law enforcement. >> Okay, then give her some guidance here because she's not following instructions very well at all. And I have every reason to detain you for not following my instructions. >> Okay. Okay. >> Behind your back. You're under arrest. >> I'm telling you. And I'm telling you, >> you're under arrest. Put your hands behind your back. Make it any worse. >> Keep that going. >> Put your hands on the arm. One step at a time. >> For obstructing first off. >> For what? >> Hold on. >> What? >> Obstructing me and my investigation first and foremost. >> All right. >> To the car and then he'll explain everything to you >> for domestic battery. >> I'm I'm telling you, you don't have to agree. I'm telling you. >> What's domestic battery? I'm going to double lock first so we don't have anything. >> And for DUI, here's what we don't want. I don't want to make this any worse for the neighbors, for you, for anything. So, the more operator, >> this is all going to be written when you're going to have a copy of everything. Don't worry. >> All right, we're going to go to the black car. >> This is what's happening. >> Going to the black car. Seven. >> Yeah, this is your phone. >> We're here. So, just protect it step by step. >> What did I do? Domestic violence, >> constructing and domestic battery. >> Domestic battery. >> All right, hang on. Let's uh um I just want to make sure you have nothing on her. >> She was charged with domestic battery, resisting arrest and driving under the influence. Unfortunately, that's not our worst case today. Our next suspect takes things to a whole other level. >> So, see that? Look at that's a big black hole that she scanned. That's a small white little cup that she stands. So, we're good. >> Shoplifting is no longer a loweffort crime. Watch this grandma take petty theft up a notch using heistworthy tactics. >> Sir, please. Please. I'm going to lose my job. Please, sir. >> On August 9th, 2023, officers were called to a Target in Georgia after reports of a woman who had 35 previous incidents on record with the store returned to steal once more. Her strategy was simple. take cheap barcodes, stick them onto more expensive items, and then scan them at checkout, paying a fraction of the actual price for the goods. It worked 35 times, but you're about to see it if fail the 36th >> grocery right now. So, we're going to go straight to the office and explain a little better. Uh, he's a known subject as I think he said, 100 I think is what he said. >> Well, the case >> Yeah. Yeah. >> How about now? >> Uh, now I'm sure I don't think she's going to try to push out. I think it's >> um, >> he knows more about it than I do. >> Yeah, >> guys. What's up? >> Got a lady. She switches stuff. She's she ticket switches like um she ticket switches using stock barcodes usually a little bit um >> what is it based on >> like 2400 we have a name for her I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate but we have her as thema grant >> thema grant >> yes >> that's an old name >> yeah she's old lady I don't feel bad for her though she's she knows what she's doing like she's been doing this for a while like just to give you some insight. $2,400 in theft. >> How many? Oh, 32 incences. >> Yeah. So, she's been doing this for a while. So, usually what she does is she grabs like little stock barcodes that are like a dollar, >> a little bit less, and she'll put that on whatever else she's buying. >> And then she'll actually go through the checkout line. >> Mhm. >> But she'll scan the socks. >> Yeah. She scans the socks like 50 times. >> Yeah. So, while she's scanning, can you pull up like what all Okay. >> Yeah, we can. >> She's been doing this for so long that we have all these different incidents on her. >> Yeah, >> she's been here a while already. >> Um, she's been in here for I came home on lunch. She's been here for like 30 minutes. I'm expecting her to head to the front seat. >> Is she a nurse? >> I have no idea. I know the last time she came in though she was wearing scrubs. So, that's kind of how I picked up on her today. I was like, "Okay, same tropes." >> She's she's been hitting us forever. Like her incident started >> 2020. So, she's been doing this for 3 years now. >> I think she's doing the switching in there where she's changing the barcodes out is what she did. She selected like an abundance of those, >> but she just tape them on. >> Well, they're sticky is what it is. So, um those 50 cent cups and the 50 cent bowls, like the little plastic ones. >> Oh, yeah. >> She selected a lot of those. So, what I think I've never seen here before, but what she's probably doing is taking the barcodes off of those and putting them putting them onto the apparel items that she selected and the other stuff. So, she can pay 50 cents for those. Oh, no. No. We'll get her um once she pays at the POS and when she exits. We have to like Target makes us let them leave. That way it shows like there's no possible way they could have intended to properly pay. Like that's why they call it the last point of sale. Like there's no way that she could have paid properly. I just need her to get out of the figure room at this point. And like I showed them, I've got 30 plus incidents of her switching barcodes. So, I know you guys technically could pull her for defacing the merchandise, but we don't want to do that cuz it's just Target won't let us do that. >> Mhm. >> But my boss did give us permission like if she for some reason like maybe sees the cop car or something, she abandons it, we will we can't pursue trespass. So, we'll >> All right. So, Oh, yeah. She's taking We're good. So, see that? Look at that's a big black bowl that she scanned. That's a small white little cup that she scanned. So, we're good. >> Let's just wait till she passed off points of sale with it. >> Can you guys tell the difference? So, you see that's a big black bowl and this is like a small white cup. >> And then you should see her do it here again. >> And the little paper bowls. Yeah. So, she's still doing the cup. So, we're good. We just need her to leave now. Perfect. Wonder where she did with the cup. >> She dumped them. She left them like she >> left them where she dumped the other stuff. >> Hey, I'm sorry to bother. Um, so I have Thema right here at the POS. She has ticket switch. She switched barcodes. She scanned everything in, but her card might decline. It looks like she's struggling to render payment. If that's the case, the police are saying they have enough to like charge her with shoplifting because she switched the barcodes. But what should we do to proceed? We can Yeah, it's already as long as the police want to. Um, I'm I'm willing to prosecute on that. >> Okay. Okay. All right. Thank you. >> All right. Bye. >> Hey, so she's still at the POS and she's been at the POS for 20 minutes now trying to render payment and offer. >> Remember the first time I got my baton? I went home and I played with it and I couldn't get it to close. I was like, >> so we said you guys, if you guys want to pull it, we go pull it. Let's do it. >> All right. Thanks, Mark. >> Officers had enough evidence to hold her accountable after stealing over 30 times. The woman was somehow still shocked when officers explained the concept of consequences to her. >> I'll take your >> Hey, ma'am. Drop your phone for me. >> Uhhuh. >> Drop your phone for me. >> Yes. >> You're under arrest right now. Okay. Place your hands. Place your hands behind your back. We'll tell you as soon as you're uncuffed. >> What I did? >> We'll tell you as soon as you're cuffed. >> What did I do? >> What's you just let me get some handcuffs on you and then um >> we'll bring you back and we'll explain everything. >> Yeah. >> Sorry. What did I do, sir? >> Well, I'll let you know. Just let me get these cuffs on you real quick. >> Don't want to mess up your watch. Mhm. >> What in the world did I do? >> We'll explain. Just give us a second. Would you like me to grab your cell phone for you? >> Yes. >> What did I do, man? >> Let's explain it in the office. Okay. >> You going to move it over there? >> Did you want me to disconnect the call? >> Yes. >> What did I do? >> I'll take your purse, Miss >> Okay. >> So, >> the loss prevention officer is going to explain everything to you. >> Yes. >> Um, we're just going to sit down, have a conversation, and >> he'll explain everything. >> Right. Cuz I didn't do I mean for y'all to come up and just handcuff me like that in front of everyone and I didn't do anything back here. >> How you all going to handcuff me? >> Have a seat over here on the the bench for me. >> Yes. >> That's good. You can sit there or there either way. >> Yeah. I don't want to sit down. >> Have a seat. >> I don't want to sit down, sir. This hurt me. My arm. >> So switching switching the barcodes switching the barcodes of an item is a crime. >> I didn't switch no barcode. >> I have you on camera and we have >> What did you do? Oh, then just leave it just slapping in the in the face. >> Stealing from the elderly is low. But when it's a grandma on grandma crime, well, that's a whole new level of sad. Oh, that was a little bit much. >> On November 3rd, 2024 in Ohio, police officers were dispatched to a residence following a report that an elderly woman had been robbed while entering her apartment. According to the victim, the other woman had hit her in the face before taking her belongings. >> Where do we live? Like, I know they couldn't understand her. You know what I'm saying? But he was standing up and he the one that gave me the phone because he said it was behind the generator. She hid it behind a generator. >> That's what she said. >> Yeah. >> Officers discovered that the elderly suspect still had the victim's phone on her even after she made a daring escape across the street. While our speedy grandma thought she'd pulled off the perfect getaway, little did she know that half the building residents had already gotten a good look at her face. >> This probably look like the lady who could be. >> But this is a DMV photo. So, let me show you a Facebook photo. This is years ago. Two years ago. >> She used to stay in 419. Cuz I mean, someone family member died in that apartment cuz I remember being here and then she was in there her church. Her mother. Her mother. Her mother. Yep. And then she was in there causing a huge ruckus and then like one of the other family members came and Yeah. She was just off the charts. That was last year. >> Yeah. Soon as I get here, I see the lady struggle with somebody, but I can see her arm. >> Mhm. >> Right. And I'm like, "Oh, she's she greased up here." She come out the door and let them go. Anyway, bam. So, I didn't know if it was a man or woman. And this is the pictures. So, and I asked her, "Scott, wait. She will not." But she anyway, make sure when she ran downstairs, finish conversation. When she ran down the stairs, I finally got down to the first floor and I seen her. When she ran out, I took the mat and put it up against the door. >> Okay. >> To catch the door. I'm thinking she's going to run out the gates there. She ran over in the corner like a mouse. >> Yeah. >> I'm like, "Okay." So, at that time, I'm walking cuz I see she's an older lady. So when I walked over there, the time I seen her, she was shutting the door. She got a key file in this building. >> Okay. >> So I'm like, "Oh, this ain't no problem." She kept walking and I'm trying to explain to the Spanish lady that the police come and she was so nervous. She took off down the street. Me waiting for you guys. I'm sitting down here and some told me go over there by that generator cuz she did duck off for a second. She might took her phone. I see a piece of crap over there. This might crap my hole. >> Oh, there go the phone. Soon as I pick up the phone, her family's called. >> All right. Thank y'all. That's >> all right, man. I appreciate you talking with us. >> Yeah, cuz she said she wants to press charges because that can happen to anyone and somebody's getting someday. So, she wants to press charges. >> Okay. [Music] >> No, I don't. >> Can you Are you able to stand up at all? >> No, cuz when I stand up, I get this. >> Oh, we can set you right back down, though. >> I don't want to stand up cuz if I fall down, I might be sick. I don't want to stand up. >> 32. What do you think? >> I'm left. >> Sam, you have two options. You can either stand up on your own or we can call an ambulance for you. >> Either way, it's going to be the same result. And I think you know what that is. So, the more cooperative you are, the better it is for you cuz I'm not playing around with you. >> That was a little bit much. Here, I'm going to take your purse off. Okay. >> No, that's okay. Put your hands behind your back. Hey. Hey. Hey, stop. >> Stop. >> Let me go. >> Stop. Stop. Listen. Relax. Okay. Relax. >> No. It ain't over. It >> It is over. Over. >> It is over. Get the off of me. Get off of me now. >> If you calm down, >> I'm not going to calm down until he gets off me. Listen, listen, listen, listen. I'm not going. I'm in handcuffs. So disrespectful. >> Disrespectful. After having a little time out in the squad car, the woman had time to think about what she'd done. Thankfully for her, Walgreens employees were able to retrieve all stolen items and decided not to press charges. But it was too late for her to make amends for the other charges she had earned. >> Hey guys, how y'all doing? >> How are you? >> Thank you for responding so quickly. >> Yeah, she she put up a little fight with us, but she's uh she's good now. >> We figured she was probably going to >> um So you guys do you want to pursue charges? >> He he said to pursue charges. >> Okay. Who is the manager? >> Um neither of us. We're coming back to get the stuff. The manager that's on duty is in the store. >> Okay. It's a different statute. >> Okay. >> So, if you got a value on that, that would be helpful. >> I can look that up. I know how to look that up. >> Yeah, that would be awesome for us. >> All right. >> Thank you very much. Does everything in there look like it belongs to the store or do you see anything that would belong to her? >> Yeah, these are definitely ours. >> Yeah. Nothing. That's actually It's still in the freaking >> Yeah, it's still in the alpha box. Yeah. Yeah. Let's take a picture of that. >> That's what you said. >> It did. >> It did. >> It did. >> Okay. I think it would be obviously hers. >> No. Nope. >> Okay. Perfect. Yeah. All she had was her own the little fanny pack thing. So, >> yeah. >> She dropped a couple things, but we grabbed those already. >> Okay. I mean, if you want to add that, did she pass all point of sales? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Yeah. I mean, if you want to add that to it, that would be awesome. >> Okay. So, >> thank you all. Thank you. >> Hey, Jennifer, how you feeling? >> You okay? You calm down a little bit? I'm sorry that everything happened the way that it did. >> You understand why we had to do what we did? >> Yes. >> To protect ourselves and protect you. I didn't want to see you get hurt and I didn't want to get hurt, you know. Do you have any pains right now? >> Yeah. >> They're hurting you pretty bad. What about your heart? Is it feeling okay? >> I just want honesty. That's it. I'm just worried about you. You just a little upset? >> A lot of upset. >> What are you upset about? >> I don't like the hands. >> I don't either. So, you might think I'm joking about that, but I'm really not. Um, we're going to we're going to figure everything out as quick as we can. It's it's going to take just a minute. Um, we're talking to the store now. Um, I don't really understand what they want to do at this point as far as the criminal aspect of it. um the deputy that's over there, he'll come down here and talk to you in just a second and we'll figure everything out. I really do appreciate you calming down for me though. I was worried about you there for a minute. >> So, do did you have an episode or something like that or an episode? >> What made you act like that? Besides you being upset, just not getting the care that I need. >> What kind of care do you need? Is it medical care or >> I've already got medical care. I'm just trying to take care of myself. That's all. And that's what the food and stuff like that's for. >> Yeah. >> I'm sorry you're going through a lot. >> There's a lot of resources out there though to help you. >> And if you need some help finding some, we can give you some numbers. >> You know what I mean? I just don't want to see you steal from stores to try to feed yourself. You know, I hate that you have to do that, >> but I'd rather give you some good phone numbers or locations that you can go to and get some good hot meals, you know? >> So, just bear with us and I'll I'll get you some numbers. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> Yes, ma'am. Thank you. She was arrested for battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest. Not all tonedeaf suspects are as loud as this grandma. Some are just naturally good at making bad decisions and regretting them later, like our last suspect. >> But do you understand a single mother? >> You don't wear glasses or anything? >> Do you understand? >> Do you have any issues with your eyes? >> Sure. Yes, I do. >> What are your issues? What's the issues with your eyes? I uh >> this grandma partied so hard she forgot everything from her address to whether she could even see straight. >> I don't know. >> You don't you don't know if you can see. >> I have no comment. >> No comment. >> No comment. >> Can you Can you see me standing in front of you? On March 20th, 2025, a Florida officer noticed a car with a flat tire on the wrong side of the road, which immediately raised suspicions. To check if the driver was fit to be behind the wheel, the officer initiated a traffic stop only to be hit with a strong smell of alcohol and bloodshot eyes from the suspect. It wasn't looking good from the start. Hi. How's it going? >> Hi, sir. >> I'm Officer Martinez, Sarasota Police Department. The reason you were pulled over is cuz you were driving on the wrong side of the road. >> Okay. >> Any reason for that? >> Uh, I'm just trying to go home. >> Just trying to go home? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Where's home for you? >> Uh, I live in the uh neighborhood right over there. >> Over where? >> Uh, on the other side of Fruitville. on the other side of Fruitville. What's your address? License, registration, proof of insurance for me? >> Yes, of course. I'm sure I can. >> Where are you coming from? >> Uh, I was uh at my girlfriend's house. I was watching her daughter tonight. >> Okay. Where at? >> Uh at the >> If you could please get your license for me. >> Sure. >> So, you were at your friend's house? >> Yes. >> Where? And where does your friend live? >> At the uh apartments right over here on uh the place near. >> Are you okay? >> Yes, I'm okay. It seems like you're you're not quite sure where you were at. >> No, I'm fine. I'm I'm I'm sorry. I was just caught off guard. >> Okay. >> I was just caught off guard because my house is >> My house is here. >> Sure. So, sir, I'd love to give you my >> your license. Yeah. You've been looking for it for quite a quite some time here. Yeah, let's see if it's here. >> Is it in there? >> Of course. >> Okay. >> Of course. Of course. Of course. I have a driver's license. [Music] I'm sorry, sir. I don't mean to be uh I mean here's where >> Okay, I'm gonna reach in here and pull your license out. I think this is it right here. >> Okay, >> this is you. Your name is Ellen. >> Correct. >> Um >> I live uh right over this street. >> Yeah. Yeah. On Erie, you said, right? >> Correct. >> Do you have your uh registration and proof of insurance for me? >> Of course. >> Can you grab that for me? And then how's it going, sir? >> Yeah, my my friend I just uh I >> This is your friend? >> Yeah, I grabbed him from our >> Have you had anything to drink tonight? >> Me? >> Yeah. >> No, he had You haven't had anything to drink tonight, >> Alan? >> See, >> have you had anything to drink tonight? Uh, well, if you really want me to tell you the truth, I'm not going to lie. >> Well, I mean, I'd prefer you tell me the truth, but I mean, it's up to you. >> Yes, I did have a couple of drinks. >> Couple drinks earlier tonight, I take it. >> Yes. >> How how long ago? >> Uh, like uh 3 4 hours ago. >> 3 4 hours. What'd you have? >> Uh, vodka and club soda. >> Oh, okay. How many? >> Uh, two. >> Two. >> Yeah. So when when >> I'm not going to lie to you, officer, >> I appreciate that. When do you think the last time you had it had one? When was the last time that you drank the time time? >> 4 hours ago. >> 4 hours ago. Do you think it's affecting your ability to drive? >> I don't think so. >> You don't think so? Okay, good. Um, how about the registration? >> Would you like to follow me home? >> No, no. I I'd like your registration approved for insurance if you could. Well, I think it's affecting my ability to possibly produce these things for you right now. >> You can't find them. >> Well, no. I mean, I I have uh I have this in our Do you want to see this? This is >> I got new insurance on uh Saturday. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Found your registration. Open that back up. Let me just take a quick look >> cuz I think I saw your insurance, too. >> Yes. >> Thank you, sir. >> Yeah. That looks like an older >> I'm a law-abiding citizen. >> That looks like an older one, but you probably still have Geico, I would assume. >> Uh, yeah. And I just went in with a new >> Are you on Are you on any medication right now or anything like that? >> No, sir. >> No, you're not being seen by a doctor, anything? >> No, sir. No, sir. >> Okay. Do me a favor. Just stay inside the vehicle. >> I live uh uh one block over here and one block to the right. >> Do me a favor. Just stay inside the vehicle and wait right here for me. Okay. >> Okay. Thank you. >> All right. Thank you. The officer was kind enough to reassure her that if she passed the field sobriety test, she would be sent on her way. But clearly, the suspect had zero faith in her ability to manage a simple test after a few drinks. Yet somehow thought she could safely drive a whole vehicle home. Her field sobriety test went exactly as well as you'd expect after hearing her attempt to form a sentence. >> Okay, Ellen. >> Yes, sir. >> So, I am concerned about your ability to drive. Okay. >> Okay. But you're saying that you're okay, right? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. So, what I'd like to do is have you step out of the vehicle and then we're going to do some exercises. You can show me that you're okay to drive and then we can get you in your car and on the on the way. >> Uh my brother is uh uh um I'm not going to get out of my car. If you want to take me to jail or something, that's fine. My house is right on the other side of the street. >> Okay, I got you. I'm I'm asking you to do the exercises so I can see that you're okay to drive so I can let you go to your house on the other side of the street. >> Yeah, just just to just to show me that you're okay to drive, >> right? But I I live right here. >> Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Let's We're just going to go right over here into the parking lot so we can do some exercises. Okay. Well, I don't think that's going to turn out so well. >> Why do you say that? >> I mean, thank you so much for being a civil servant and >> I was I was actually a criminology major in college. >> Really? >> I I was what college? Oh, Marquette University and uh Marquette and >> Can you do me a favor and just wait right here? I'm going to go shut off those flashing lights. >> I I think what you're going to do is Do you want to Are you going to put me in jail tonight? >> Well, I'd like to do the exercises to determine that you're okay to drive and that way Ellen >> How about if you just let me go home? Well, I'd like to do that. I want to do the exercises to make sure that you're safe to go home. That's that's my concern. I don't want >> Well, what if I just walk from here? What if I just walk from here? >> What about your vehicle? Your vehicle's parked in the middle of the road. >> So, let's just uh tow it. >> And did you know that you have a flat tire? Can you see the the tire there is flat? >> Yes. >> Yeah. >> Yes. >> You knew that? Uh, I did I did understand that my tire was flat and my house is just like two blocks from here. I understand that. So, would you guys be okay with me just walking home from here? >> Well, well, first let's let's go back over there and then we can do some of these exercises and then we'll get you on your way. Okay. >> I'd really rather just leave. >> I understand, but it's either you do the exercises or we're just taking you straight to jail. So, you have the opportunity to do the exercises and if you're okay to drive, we will let you go. >> Well, I actually don't want to drive. >> Okay. But you were already driving. That's that's why you were stopped. Ellen, >> Ellen, it's either >> Ellen. Okay, we'll go we'll go right over here. >> Watch your step. Okay. >> Yeah. I I really understand. >> Okay. So, you see this yellow line right here? I'd like you to stand kind of like right here facing me. Actually, I'll I'll stand on this side. That way you don't have to look. >> So, I have to walk it. >> No, no, we're not going to walk. We're not going to walk. I'd like to do a uh an exercise of your eyes. I'd like to check your eyes. Do you wear contacts or anything like that? >> Hey, uh do you understand that I am a single mother? >> Okay. Do you wear >> that lives in Sarasota? >> Do you wear contacts or or glasses? >> I don't understand. I'm a single mom. Do you have any issues with your eyes? >> I don't think so. But do you understand a single mother? >> You don't wear glasses or anything? >> Do you understand? >> Do you have any issues with your eyes? >> Sure. Yes, I do. >> What are your issues? What's the issues with your eyes? >> I uh I don't know what my issues with my eyes are, but I have >> But you can see cuz you were driving. Obviously, you can see at night, correct? I don't know. >> You don't You don't know if you can see. >> I have no comment. >> No comment. >> No comment. >> Can you Can you see me standing in front of you? >> After watching the woman wobble around like she was auditioning for a circus act. The officer knew exactly how this was going to play out, and she wasn't going to like it. In fact, she came up with the strangest excuse for why she shouldn't be going to jail. >> My options right now to go to jail. >> I'm trying to let you know what your what your options are. Your options are you can do the exercises willingly and I can see how how well you perform and then determine whether or not you can leave and go home or go to jail. Or you can not do you can not do the exercises and then I'll have to make that determination based on all the observations I've made thus far. So, would you like to do this exercise? It's an exercise of yours. >> I really like you. And I was a criminology major in college >> at Marquette. >> Marquette University. >> Here, let's let's go into this first exercise. You said that you can see, correct? You can see that there's a little a light right here in front of you. >> Uh, I think I need to just go to jail or something. Like, what are you doing to me right now? >> Can you see this light? >> I have to just go somewhere, right? >> Can you Can you see this light? Yes, of course >> you can. What color is that light? >> It's wood. >> Oh, okay. Perfect. Um, can you stand with your feet together? Heels and toes touching. >> All right, there's good. Hands at your sides is perfectly fine. I'd like you to just keep an eye >> understand what you're doing to me. >> I'd like you to keep an eye on that blue light and then just follow it with your eyes and your eyes only. Feel free to blink. Okay, feel free to blink. I know it's windy. >> Keep an eye on that blue light for me. Okay, >> I understand what you're doing. >> Can you keep an eye on that blue light for me? Sure. >> With your eyes and your eyes only. >> Sure. I understand what you're doing and I'm very sorry for >> I know, but but you're not looking at the blue light like I'm asking you to. >> I'm very sorry for doing what I've done. I'm so sorry. >> What have you done? >> What have you done? >> I'm just trying to survive. Be a single mom. Be a person who is I'm just trying to be a person who survives in this world. >> Who's the guy? Who's the guy in the passenger seat? >> Who is he to you? >> Uh, just a a friend I met. >> Just a friend. You met him tonight. You don't really know him. >> No, >> you just met him tonight. >> I see. >> Okay. Um, >> I I really I really really need you to be nice to me. >> I am. I am. I'm I'm going to be happy. >> I am. I I pay taxes. I own a house here in Sarasota. >> Okay. >> I own a house. I pay taxes. >> Listen, what I'd like you to do is turn and then take a look at the lights that are right over there for me. Okay. Oh, careful. Watch your step. And then put your hands behind your back. >> Okay. >> Don't move from right there. Okay. >> Okay. Where are you resting? >> Okay. You going to put me in jail? You going to put me in jail? Hold on. I'm going to explain in just a second cuz this is I just want to >> Okay, it's fine. >> Everything's going to be okay. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> I am actually a Republican. I voted for child. >> Let's go over here. >> At this time at this time, you are under arrest for driving under the influence. Okay. And I and we will be going to jail. I'm going to have you stand right here. >> Okay. 10:15. >> Hey, buddy. Professor Trump. >> I really did. >> Okay. >> My little family. >> Do you have anything on you that's going to stick me, stab me, poke me, anything like that? Anything like that? Nothing like that. Okay. This female officer here is going to search you before you go into my car. Okay. >> I have nothing. I have nothing. I'm fine. >> It's fine. >> Do you want him Do you want him out of your car? >> I I just met him tonight. >> Okay. So, you don't want him to stay in your car, obviously, right? >> No. No, I just I just met him. >> I can't believe I'm being arrested. >> Hey, I'll follow in jail. >> She doesn't want him in the car. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, she wants him out of the car. >> I want you to be put in jail. >> Okay. Well, >> and then we're going to end up towing your car because it's got the flat tire. >> Okay, that's fine. We don't want to leave the middle there. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Huh? Uh yeah, if you can get signal 14 from him, >> it's going to go it's going to go down as he he's a passenger in the >> Okay. I don't know. I don't know that person's name. >> I don't know. >> You don't even know his name. >> He's a I think illegal alien. >> He's an illegal alien. >> I think so. >> I think he was illegal or something. For someone who's a criminology major, her constant shock at the prospect of going to jail is a bit ridiculous. You'd think she'd know better, but instead the officers had to call her daughter to come pick up her mother. >> Who are my friends? >> Really? >> Yes. >> My brother-in-law is El Salvadorian. >> I do have friends in El Salvador who are my friends. >> Yeah, >> I do. And I feel so sorry for the people who said they are criminals. They are criminals. We are not criminals. >> Mhm. >> It's okay. I don't mind being arrested right now. I don't know what happened and why I'm here. >> Well, you're you're under arrest for driving under the influence. Okay. You were driving on the wrong side of the road. Sorry. >> You hit the curb and flatten your tire. >> Come pick up your car. >> Okay. >> Huh? >> What's that? >> Do you want your daughter to come pick up your car? >> Uh, yes. >> Yes. Okay. Um, what's her name? Is this your phone? >> Uh, yes. Okay. Did you want me to call her for you? >> Sure. Okay. >> I can't believe I'm being arrested by Sarasota police. I'm really sorry. I don't know how this phone works. How do I call it? >> Why is it selecting? >> I don't know. I If you guys could un >> can't do that. >> Okay. Let me see. Let me just uh let's see. >> No. Okay. It's like that's important. >> All right. >> Is there anything I can do? >> Uh, well, right now you can situate getting her vehicle over here. It does have a flat front tire. Um, we're over here at Fruitville and Lime in front of the coastal car. >> Call Mike Waroff. So, >> tell her to call Mike Warner. I don't I don't >> Can you tell her to call Mike Warov? >> Do you want me to just call him? >> Tell her to tell Mike Warov. >> It sounds like she's on her way. >> I don't even have Tell her to call Mike. >> You said Mike would be able to handle things. >> Are you on your way over here, Katie? >> Yes, I'm >> I'll be over there. I mean, >> turn this way. Turn this way. >> You're a bad person. You just made a poor choice. Really bad. My god. >> Turn around. >> Just turn around. We're just trying to take your bag. >> Yeah. I'm trying to make so your bag doesn't get caught up in the handcuffs. >> She's got to >> Yeah. We're going to have a seat right there. >> Where are they going? >> We're going to the Sarasota County. Uh the jail. >> Yeah. Sarah Sarasota County Jail. >> Okay. I know it's not comfortable. It's not designed for comfort. So, just kind of situate yourself. If you can lean back, I'm going to reach across you and get the seat belt. >> There we go. We're going to put this across your lap.
