Hey, Officer Charnie. Coral Springs Police. 69 miles an hour and a 45. Where are you heading to right now? I'm going to Okay. To do what? To get my job. Yeah. You got to slow it down a little bit here. Yes. Do you live in Boca Raton still? I do. All right. Do you have your registration insurance? Yeah, I'm usually very careful on I'm sorry. All right, just today wasn't the day to be careful, I guess. No, I'm I'm Yeah, I'm sorry. Thank you. So, this is what it looks like, but this one's expired from 2023. This one's expired from 2021. That one's expired for 2021. That one's expired from 2024. Um, you can toss the old ones unless you like collecting them, but they're not baseball cards. So, I know I keep the old ones. Yeah. Is that it? 2020. This might be the good one right here. Let me see. That's all right. Yeah, this is good. And then just the insurance card. Oh, insurance. I think you had it in your hand. I did. Yeah, you had it in your hands. Yeah. Is this it? Yep. That's it. So, that's expired as well. Oh, it's it's Yeah. So, whatever date you see to it, you add a year to it. So, that one says 23, but it's actually good till 24. You could also have it on your phone. It could be electronic. If you want to pull that up, I'll be right back. The registration is good, so I'll leave that with you. No problem. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Registration's good. Like I said, if you want, you can pull up on your phone. As far as the insurance go, if you find it, just please stay seated. I'll be right back with you. Going to work. Therapist late. Um, normally is careful, but today, I guess she decided not to be careful. She was in the left most lane passing all traffic. Uh I've said it before and I'll say it again. When we go to radar school, it's not like you get out of the police academy and you pass FTO, which is like your field training officer um experience where you're fresh out of the academy and a seasoned officer takes you around and teaches you how to be a street cop. It It's not like once you finish that, they just say, "All right, Charnie, good job. You've passed FTO. You passed the police academy. Here's your radar. Go out there and go get them." It's not like that. You have to go to a radar school and it's a 40-hour course in Florida. Once you attend that course, you have to take a test. And once you take the test, you also have to do uh practicals where you go out with a radar with uh a police officer or a sheriff's deputy or a state trooper and they teach you how to run radar. They teach you the um the how to do visual estimates. They teach you the internals of your radar and things like that. Now, like I said, there's the visual estimates. So, you don't just go off of the radar and that's it. We have to visually estimate people's speeds, too. So, I visually estimated her going 70 and a 45. My speed estimate matched up with my radar, which was 69. And usually, as long as you're between a plus or minus two of your speed estimate, you're you're in the green light to now have probable cause to pull someone over. So, that alone is the probable cause or PC to stop the car. Did you find it, ma'am? Oh, here it is. All right, just scroll to the right a little bit, please. That's good. All right. Excellent. So, as far as the speed goes, I am issue a citation. You have three options. Paying it, traffic school, or traffic court. But whichever option you choose, you have to choose one within 30 days. All right. You have any questions? No. All right, man. Please slow it down. All right. Take care of yourself. You're welcome. [Music] H. There you go. [Music] Tango 31 final stop 6150 Wilds parking lot. Hi. You speak Spanish? No, Spanish. You speak English? I'm sorry. I I I don't see you. You don't see me? What? I don't see you coming behind I haven't seen you coming behind me. Okay. Yeah, I had lights. I'm sorry. All right. You have Google Translate. Yeah. Yeah. So, your seatelt, you put it on at the red light. When you saw my police car Mhm. you put your seatelt on. Ah. Uh-huh. Okay. I'm sorry. [Music] I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I came sweaty and the belt sweats and smells bad. Oh, so you got all all day. All day a stinky seat belt. Every day. Well, your stinky seat belt could save your life. Okay. Yeah. I'm sorry. You have Lencia. I'm sorry. No. No. No. No. Oh my goodness. This is just getting worse and worse. Never issued a Lencia. No. Take No. No license ever. Yeah. Yeah. You do have a Lencia. Yeah. But in Colombia. Colombia. You have a You have it with you right now? Do you have your Lencia with you? I waiting for You're Colombian. Yeah. Can I see a picture or if you have the actual license? My passport in my license. I have in the in the my house. I I live here. Okay. In this in this in this place. For how long have you lived? Um, one year. Okay. You have to get your license in Florida. Mhm. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know. I waiting. I waiting. I know. But you cannot drive. I I I I I [Music] I have process and I waiting. Okay. But in the meantime, you cannot drive until you have your license. Okay. I'm sorry. Only Only I was in the gym. Only in the gym. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No more driving until you have a license. No more. Cuz it's a crime. Okay. I can arrest you right now. Take you to jail. Okay. I'm sorry. Okay. This is for what? A ticket. Oh, really? Yeah. You're going to get a ticket. You can't drive with no license. I told you it's a crime. Do you understand or no? Yeah. Okay. So, we're at the intersection of Wilds Road and State Road 7, right where we just finished a traffic stop. Now, her seat belt was like this. And I pulled up next to her, looked at my Mark's car, and she kind of did one of these. cuz it was really weird. So, I get behind her. I stopped the car. Obviously, she took a while to stop the car. She said she didn't see my lights. Didn't hear my siren. I guess she was trying to come to home base cuz maybe that's what she thinks this is. And uh long story short, she has no license. She's from Colia and she's working on getting her her stuff here in America. So, until then though, she can't drive anything because you have to have a valid license to drive in Florida. Now, if you're on vacation or something like that and you have your passport with you and you don't live here, then you're good for 6 months. But if you go over 6 months, you're no longer on vacation in the eyes of the law. You have to have a Florida license. If not, just like the last stop, it's criminal. So, we're going to run her. We're going to see if there's any history with this girl and then uh we'll we'll go from there. But, she's definitely getting at least the criminal citation for no driver license. All right. Did you find the insurance or no? Did she find the insurance? Thank you. So, look, I'm g giving you two tickets. The first one's for no driver license. Okay? That's the criminal one. Okay? Remember, I'm not taking you to jail, but you have a court date. This is your court date right here. And I'm giving you two. No driver license and the seat belt. Okay? Okay? Because it's criminal, you have to sign both citations right here. You have to sign right here. One more time. Okay. And then your thumb print. Your right thumb. Your right thumb. This one. Uh-huh. It's flat and right here. Do you understand everything? Or do you want me to get a Spanish speaker? No. You understand? All right. No more driving till you get your license to Florida. Okay. Cuz if you drive again, you're it'll probably be you'll probably go to jail next time and you don't want that. Okay. Take care of yourself. Thank you. Where your seat belt? Someone's going 76 mph towards us right now. They're going 70 right now. [Music] Right here, bud. Hey, Officer Charnie with Coral Springs Police. 76 and a 45. Is there a reason why you're going so fast? [Music] Just speak. I can't hear you, man. Speak up a little bit. Uh, I'm going to get my girlfriend real quick. So, your girlfriend for what? Uh, I'm going I'm going to pick her up. Uh, so I'm going to drop her off. All right, you got to slow it down cuz the speed limit here is 45. Just like before. She got a hemorrhage. Does she need an ambulance? No, she she had a mom. She's with her mom right now. No, her mom had like she went to the emergency with her mom. Oh, so she's at the hospital. Yeah, she's going to be late. She's going to be late at the hospital. She's already there, huh? You just said she's at the hospital. How's she going to be late? She's supposed to go up at work out there at 1. Mhm. So, I'm going to pick up. All right. There's no reason to be going 20 or 31 over. I'll just take your license, registration, insurance. Okay. You got to slow it down. See, whether you get there in 5 minutes or 10 minutes, it doesn't change the process at the hospital. All right. The thing is, you know, I got pulled over by the cops. I was always All right. Just take a deep breath. Okay. If you have your registration insurance, my partner will take it. Okay. He's on the way to the hospital. His girlfriend, she's already there. She's already being accounted for by medical staff. So, he's saying that I'm I'm rushing to get there so that I can take her to work at 1:00. It's 11:30 right now. So, I explained to him like whether you get there in 5 or 10 minutes, it doesn't change anything at the hospital. Like, he's not the one performing surgery on his girlfriend and he is just going there to give her a ride at 1:00. He told me he's nervous when he got when he gets stopped by the police, but his driving made me feel nervous, you know, feel very very uncomfortable seeing a car going 76 mph in your rearview window coming up on everybody like that at an intersection. It makes me feel nervous, too. So, we're going to check his license out, but we're going to um he's definitely going to get a ticket today for that. That's why I always make sure his address is current because they this the countyy's going to send a letter in the mail to that address and uh we just got to make sure that it's current because we don't want it going to an address where they don't live at anymore and then they never get notification and their license becomes suspended because we didn't ask them the simple question of hey is your license uh address still current. Okay. So I'm issuing one citation for the speeding violation. You can take this back. So, because you're going 30 mi over the posted speed limit, it's a mandatory court appearance. You'll get a letter in the mail from the county letting you know when your court date is. It's not criminal, but you have to go to court because you're going 30 over the speed limit. So, you're going to have to sign here. If you don't sign here, I will have to place you under arrest. So, you're not admitting guilt by signing. You're just promising to take Yes, sir. You're just promising to take care of the citation, whether it's you showing up to court or you hiring a traffic attorney and they show up before you on your behalf. Hey, good morning. Morning. I'm Officer Charie with Coral Springs Police. I stopped you because you're going 66. How'd you know that coming this way? Because we have moving radar systems. Yeah. Yeah. Um All right. I'm sorry, dude. I just got my taxes done. I'm in a rush this morning. I'm going to mall. I got a date at 2:00. Speed limit 35, though. So, you're going pretty quick. All right. Can you help me out? Can I get I don't do passes for 30 over. No on you. Registration insurance. Rent a car, bro. Okay. Who you renting it through? No problem. Thank you. All right. And you solo on sample road. All right. Give me one sec. I'll be right back. He's not very happy about getting stopped, but he's going 31 over the speed limit. Um rental car. He just said he got done with his taxes. So, we'll check out the rental car status. It's a Texas tag. Rentals come from all over the place. And uh we'll go from there. It's going to be a mandatory court appearance, though. All right, sir. So, because you're 31 over, it is a mandatory court appearance. So, what that means is the countyy's going to send you a letter in the mail to the address on sample and they'll let you know when your court date is. You're going to My lawyer can just go to the right. What's that? My lawyer can go to it, right? Yeah. Your lawyer can represent you in court. You're just signing saying that you promise to take care of it. That's all. And then I'll take my pen back. All right. Do you have any questions on how to take care of it? Do you understand it? No, I'm [ __ ] adult, man. I've done this before. Okay. Please drive safer. Thank you. Tangle 31 say 50 Riverside Shadowwood. Hey, how you doing? Officer Charie Cole Springs Police 58 and 35. That's why I pulled you over. Where you heading to? Uh, we're heading to a passport appointment. Passport appointment? It's at the mall here. All right, you got to slow it down. It's too fast. Do you have your license on your registration insurance? All right. So, not 2 minutes later after the last stop, we just stopped this driver for going 58. Riverside Drive between Royal Palm Boulevard and Atlantic Boulevard. It's 35 mph. That's the speed limit. We're getting a lot of complaints with the speeding violations out here. And because of all the complaints that we're getting, we're out here for this reason, to slow down people. Uh complaints are coming in from not only the residents of Coral Springs, but people that visit the Coral Springs. They'll see people driving recklessly, fast. They'll call a 911, uh, seeing if there's an officer in the area. So, we're out here to protect obviously the safety of the motorists and to deter other people from speeding by letting everyone know, hey, the police are out here. There are marked cars, there are unmarked cars, people see us doing traffic stops, word of mouth, people get tickets, people get warnings, they tell everybody, hey, I got stopped in Coral Springs. The saying is there's cops everywhere in Coral Springs. A lot of people in South Florida, Broward County, the Tri County, everybody knows if you go to Coral Springs, don't speed because you'll get stopped for speeding in Coral Springs. But look, um I'm giving you one citation. It's for the speed. You get three options. Paying it, traffic school, or traffic court. And whichever option you choose, you have to choose an option within 30 days. Okay? Please slow down. It's 35. All right. Take care, guys. You too. To the visitors and residents of Coral Springs, you may be wondering why the speed limit on Riverside Drive will sometimes go from 40 to 35. The reason behind that is because the Florida Department of Transportation is the agency that governs the speed limit on the roadway. They do this by traffic surveys and traffic engineers. They determine through their studies what the safest maximum speed limit is of the roadways. They're the ones who set the speed. So, just a reminder, Coral Springs doesn't set the speed limits on the roadways. It's all done through the state. The only thing the police department does is enforce traffic law. [Music]
