soon as he saw my car he slowed down there was nobody in front of him there was nobody behind him he was going in a straight line did you find the insurance yeah I looked it up onl okay it's okay just hold the phone I don't want to so the registration is good and I'm just looking for like a proof of insurance do you have the insurance on here too yeah hey for the for the windshield tint you can't have any tint on the windshield okay are you a private investigator none you're not do you have a medical exemption form from the state for the sunscreen exemption or no you don't okay no amount of T what's that no amount of tint is allowed no so you only can have a tint strip above What's called the as on line so if you look top right corner of your windshield top right corner your other right yep right there you see on the top right you see it says as1 it's very small print that correct so if your tint strip goes below the as1 line you can't have it unless you're either a private investigator with your state ID from Florida or you have something what's called a sunscreen exemption form saying that you have the dark tints because you have a medical condition you're susceptible to skin cancer you have something wrong with your eyes a doctor signs off on paperwork that's sent to the state for approval Tallahassee re uh reviews it someone in Tallahassee they either approve it or deny it if they approve it you get a letter from the state saying that you're exempt from the tint laws and that you can have a tinted windshield plus the tint laws don't apply to your vehicle if you don't have one or both of those things you can't have the dark tints okay but you're going to get a few tickets all right you're going to have a court date you're goingon to have to show up to court it's not Criminal but because you're going 30 Mi over the posted speed limit you're going to have to show up to court and you're going to have to talk to a judge and they're going to ask you why you were going 1811 they're going to decide what the fine is from there okay it's probably going to be $1,000 for the speeding I'm just giving you heads up give me one second I'll be right back some of you may be saying that he should have been arrested he should be going to jail and I agree with you however I have to follow rules that's given by the courts through case law normally speed loan is not enough for someone to get arrested they have to be doing other things following cars too closely cutting people off running red lights running stop signs other traffic control device he was going 111 mph in a straight Lane with no traffic in front of him no traffic behind him there was some traffic on the right that's all I got so at this point he's not even he's not even uh considered a aggressive driver in Florida because he's only doing one thing which is the speed but if I had something else following cars too closely rapidly changing lanes running a stop sign just at least one of those things that would be enough for reckless driving there's case law that says speed alone generally is not enough to arrest the reason why I say generally is because if he was in a school zone going well above the speed limit and there was no cars around him but there were kids walking around there was crossing guards in the intersection other things like that you would be able to articulate well he's just speeding but he's doing it in an area where he could literally hit somebody and kill them where here yes he could hit someone and killed them but it's you're going in a straight line there's no other violation but again he's getting numerous citations today it's going to cost him a lot of money he's going to have points on his record and his insurance company is not going to be happy okay sir these are your copies here now because it's a mandatory court appearance I just need you to provide your thumb print you're not admitting guilt you're just promising to um I'm sorry your signature you're not admitting guilt by signing You're Just promising to either show up yourself to the court date or you're promising to have an attorney show up for you on your behalf you'd have to hire an attorney obviously and talk to one so that you could set it up but you're going to have to sign these citations here right there right here yep I'm mening you three go ahead and all three the first one's for the speeding 111 the second one's for you not updating your driver license address and the last one's your windshield tin okay as far as the fines go the judge will tell you what the finds are if you're going to get points or not it's all up to them um it says to be set on the bottom all that means is the the county courthous is going to send you a letter in the mail letting you know when your court date is just to verify you live here at this address right so they're going to send you a letter in the mail to that address you should get it within the next 2 weeks if you don't get a letter in the mail call the courthouse which is right here on the blue mailer there's there's four cour houses in Broward you can call one of those let them know hey I never got a letter in the mail these are my citation numbers the Chan of you having to do that is slim to none but in case you don't get a letter let them them know because if you don't show up to the court date the rightmost lane this guy was in the Middle Lane there's a pickup truck on the left lane he's going 100 this Toyota the driver is going 107 mph and again again I'm I'm in a marked car this is fully marked light bar black and white push bar everything Spotlight he passes me barely slows down he cuts the F-150 driver off so it's a rapid unsafe Lane change and proper lane change plus you're going 107 mph where the posted speed limit is 65 now I have Reckless so I got his license he's a Spanish speaker only SL Portuguese speaker he has a learner's license only so not only is he not supposed to be driving right now because there's no other passenger in the car it's just him you have to have someone that's 21 years of age or older with a valid license to teach you how to drive correct and safely didn't have any of that decided today just drive with a learner's permit go 107 mph rapidly cut Lanes cut people off right next to a police officer in in a marked vehicle I mean and then he says he doesn't he didn't he didn't realize he was going that fast so uh no one else is in the car this is a highway I'm not going to wait for someone to come here so I'm towing his vehicle I'm going to do an inventory search looking for anything worth of valuable you know notate it on the toe log uh towing companies on the way as we speak and um we'll go from there all right right so after the inventory search was over I found his wallet his phone was inside of the car and his watch that he was wearing so instead of leaving that kind of stuff in the car I'm going to bring it with me so that I can log it into his property so when he goes to jail the money inside his wallet the credit cards inside the wallet as well as his phone and his watch it's listed under his property so that it doesn't go to a tow yard and somehow you know it would get maybe misplaced damaged just to avoid all of that I'm going to take it with me it goes to jail it'll be in his property uh I got to go to the station out to write the report my backup took the prisoner already transported him to the Coral Springs Police Department he's put in a holding facility it's kind of like a mini jail area like a cell and everything like that he's held there until I'm done with my probable cause affidavit once the sergeant reviews and signs off the probable cause affidavit I will load him up into a car with a cage we'll go downtown to Fort Lauderdale where the Brower County Sheriff's office main jail is where I'll turn in my arrest paper work he'll get booked and fingerprinted into the county jail system and then tomorrow he'll see a judge first thing in the morning I also want to just say uh thank you to the Florida Highway Patrol for backing me up during the investigation um with their assistance it just always makes things safer for us and we just run more efficiently when there's other agencies out there as well as uh my backup officers from my own agency [Music]
