Look at me real quick and just relax. Number one, you've got minors in here. You can catch a child charge. Be nice to my officers [music] and I'm here for an unrelated incident. >> What? Where do we get this? >> Is you two as adults in response to make sure those necessities are there or get it? >> Call someone. Call DCM. Call somebody. Say, "Hey, we need help." >> That house is horrible. The feces is all the way on top of the toilet. Full of poop. On top of poop on top of poop. So, it's probably one of the worst ones I've seen. And for me to tell you that, get ready. >> In January 23rd, 2024, officers from the Bunnel Police Department responded to reports of a trespassing dispute between two neighboring households. According to the caller, his neighbor, Willie, had attempted to reclaim a dog that the caller's wife, Deborah, had been caring for while the dog's owner remained in prison. The caller alleged that Willie had picked up a pipe during the confrontation. What initially appeared to be a routine neighborhood dispute turned out to be merely the tip of the iceberg, unraveling into one of the most troubling child welfare cases the responding officers said they had ever seen. >> What happened? >> They went over. I had to shoot the homeowner of the home and they haven't done nothing. Uh >> he had the dog. That's >> Was he friendly? >> Oh, absolutely. Oh, yeah. my boxes. So, I had him. They came over. I said, "You're not allowed to get him. He needs to go to a vet. He's got an air problem." My boxer. >> Whose dog is this? >> It's her dog. >> It's my brother. It's my brother, Michael. >> Nobody here. And this individual said, "I have paperwork." >> But I told him they can't they can keep him for now. >> He got He has to go to bed >> cuz right now my brother locked up and the dog be roaming. I guess >> he come he come scratching on my door last week. It was 38 degrees at 4:00 in the morning. Let him in. >> He's threatening me. He come after me with a pipe. >> Who is it? >> Willie. >> Okay. >> The one that is Willy's dog. No, that's >> He claim it's his. I'm just finding out cuz I'm coming here trying to let them know that y'all can't stay here because number one, I guess his sister gave him the okay to stay here. >> They got put out of the projects or whatever. make up for that. >> I have my own situation and my own little >> Can you let her talk so she can finish real quick? That'd be great. >> Yeah. So, I have my own little thing going on, homework and school, and my kid is in the NICU. So, reason why I haven't been over to get them out because I haven't had a chance, but my daughter's coming home like tomorrow from the NICU. Okay. >> So, yesterday I when I got over here, if you guys remember me pulling up, it was initially telling him he have to go because number one, y'all got all this stuff back there. Like, this is where y'all, you know, storing stuff. I mean, the city has contacted me and my brother's locked up from the >> How long has Willie been staying here? >> So, they've been here since I want to say November. They haven't paid anything. There's nothing written up. The sister gave him the okay to stay here with his sister. >> His sister Lena. So, >> so why did why does she have permission to do so? >> That's why that's what Yeah. So, that's what's going on. >> Okay. So, >> hi. >> Okay. Hold on. It's the wife. >> So, what happened? So, what happened with the dog? >> I had the dog. >> I had the dog [clears throat] fight over the dog. >> I had the dog and he said, "Go to a vet." >> So, you walked over here to get the dog. >> Nope. Yesterday. >> Yesterday. >> The internet over here with him. >> Sorry. >> So, I brought the dog home and then he come over. I want my dog. I got it on video. He said, "I got paperwork." No, you don't have paperwork on a dog. Nothing but I need ahead. >> I only got nothing but a squatter. So, he picked up a pipe to come after me. >> Yeah. Christy pushed them. >> I'm on my property. >> Yes. Can you let her just talk to him one time, please? It' be great. So beautiful from day one. She >> Oh, I met you with the place. He's nothing but his wife. He doesn't pay nothing. Which when I talk to Bean, that part doesn't concern you. That part doesn't concern you. >> You come over, get the dog, I get paperwork on. No, you don't. It's a the shade. I want the dog back cuz he's going to the flag animal hospital in Oak. He needs he hasn't pissed and coming on two days now and taking four years old. My father was going to police department and never had pimple. >> All right. Your wife's pulling up the uh the video. If by chance there is some type of altercation with said piper, you want it. >> Can you guys let me finish the sentence? If by chance there is some type of video that cooperates your story of this pipe, are you wanting to pursue charges? >> Yeah, I want to >> What's going on? >> Um, okay. They visiting our dog, right? And they checking in the house. We let the dog go out the bathroom. >> Okay. Do you have on a leash? >> Um, I be outside waiting on them. It's at night time. >> Okay. >> So, yes. Yes. No. >> Yes, we have. Yeah, we have them. >> You have them on a leash when you have them out here? >> Um, no. cuz we I'll be right there standing up and then he'll come back in and we be out here watching him then it's night time and they'll get the dog and they'll keep them. We can't know where it's at. Okay. And and about this right here about we've been paying we ain't been paying no rent or nothing like that but we had agreement of we can stay here. We got address. I mean we got mail coming here. We got bills in our name right now and everything like that. >> What's the problem? Why are they here? Make them leave. What do you want me to do? >> Oh, I already told them they had to go. Why are they still here? I still see them. >> Yeah, I already told them. And but what happened? See, I'm not physical. I have a lot going on. So, he >> Who owns the house? >> Me and my brother. >> Bye. Why are they still here? >> That's what I'm saying. >> Did they get mail? >> No, they they should be getting m That's why I'm like >> I'll make him leave right now. >> Yeah. >> Who's that? >> That's Willie, which is Leon's brother. >> The other kid. >> I guess it's his girlfriend. See, I >> This white kid right here. Who is that? >> His girlfriend's son. >> Sorry about Willy's girlfriend. >> I guess. >> So, you own a house? >> Yeah. >> Perfect. Let's do a walk through of the Chevy versus the mother. Yeah, >> you know how I get. I have no patience. >> I'll tell you that right now. >> So, yeah, I just >> The dispute that brought officers to Heyman Circle that morning centered around a dog. Both sides claimed ownership and the details were tangled enough that officers ultimately set the matter aside entirely, deciding it was the least of their concerns that day. While Willie was explaining the dog situation to officers outside, the responding officer stepped inside the property and what she saw forced her to immediately ask the children to evacuate the house at once. >> So, how did he happen to get your dog when you're supposedly out here watching? >> I was right here yesterday. He said, "Willie about today. How did he happen? How did he >> never came back and brought he never brought a dog back over here?" >> Okay. So, he had your dog from last night. Yes. >> Okay. What happened? >> They're making us come out here. >> Look at your mom. She's >> Tell your mama come here. >> She said the police officer isn't >> Hold on. Willie, >> my wife in there, man. I don't know what's going on. Hey, go in there with your mama, man. >> Hey. No. >> No. That's my Hold on. >> They were asked to leave, >> but he didn't >> stay outside. >> Hey, go in there with your mom. >> I don't know what happened. He's older. Stop. >> It's his house. >> Stop. Nobody's going inside right now. They were asked to exit the house. Mama, come here, please. >> The police officer won't let >> Tell her I said come here. I'm my husband, >> Willie. >> Knock it off, dude. You're not in charge here. >> Who is in charge? You. >> Not you. >> You on my own. >> My sergeant is inside the residence. But you telling me on my mama. >> Are you holding my mama? Y Hold on. >> Willie, knock it off. >> Listen. Listen, man. I ain't got You can't do nothing to me. I'm Hey, >> you can't do >> Huh? He can't do nothing to me. Y'ALL CAN'T DO NOTHING to me. >> You need to knock it off. >> I'm here knocking him off. Y'ALL KIND OF HOLD ME. LOOK AT me real quick and just relax. Number one, you've got minors in here. You can catch a child charge. Be nice to my officers and I'm here for an unrelated incident. Stop it right now. This is very serious the way the house looks. If you as an adult, because of her, you'll catch her charge. So, just mind your business and stay with them and let me deal with this cuz this is not your problem. This is bad. Now, be nice to them. They didn't do nothing to you. trying to help you, man. All right. >> Explain to me. >> So, your dog went to him last night. Is that normal? Like him taking the dog overnight every now? Like, is that normal? >> Yeah, this is back and forth. >> Okay. So, you guys like let the dog go between the houses? >> Yes, but he come. >> So, the dog didn't come back, right? >> Okay. >> So, then he brings the dog back over just a little bit ago. >> No, he didn't bring it over. I told my son to go over there and get the dog because he said, "I ain't giving the dog back. I'm keeping the dog." I said, "You can't keep the dog because guess what? If the dog bite somebody, it's on me. If the dog bite one of them ladies out, it's on me because it was it was me to let them have that. So, it's my problem now. >> If they take responsibility, the dog can take responsibility. >> Okay. If they take responsibility, if anything happened over there, what's wrong with that dog? It's on them. I don't know. It wasn't like when I came. >> So, if he if he's like, I'm not getting the dog back. Guess what? If he's So, he's saying that saying, no, you're not getting the dog back. I got it. >> That's what I did. >> So, at that point, it's his responsibility. So, how did how did he come over and start yelling? >> Yeah, he came right over here in front of the yard. He came right He came right over here and like he was talking trash, you know what I mean? Threat me and all that right there. >> When you say threatening you, what was he saying? >> You you piece of y off, this and that off, your lights and but I got the bills and stuff right there. >> I'm not I'm not worried about that. So, with >> with the threats, did he physically threaten you in any way? >> It's like this um >> it's it's a yes or a no. I mean, if he didn't, he didn't. If he did, then tell me what he said. But if he didn't say anything threatening towards you, if he just sitting there calling you names and just being rude, >> a threat to me, anything he said negative, it's a threat to me. I look at it as a threat. >> Criminally, if I say that you're an a-hole, that's not if like let's say you and me are having a verbal altercation and I say, "Hey, man, you're an a-hole." >> Okay, >> that's not a threat. >> It's it's vulgarity and it's not very nice. If I look at that as another way of >> getting upset that's I feel like >> that's not so that's not once again I'm asking did you threaten any violence towards you? >> Any violence? >> Yes. >> I like >> any anything violent? >> He did like this with a gun behind him >> and he got a gun. >> Did you see a gun? >> Yes, I did. >> You did? Yes, sir. >> Are you 100% sure? >> Man, the man the man had a gun like that and he gave it to the old lady when y'all coming up. I went in the house cuz the gun you got the kids they seen the gun too. >> When we get your money financially situated, can we on camera work something out civily while he keeps the dog until we fix this problem? Because if you have papers for the dog, I'll get it back. Willie, this is a problem. She's going to go through DCF. There's no water. She's going to end up >> got turned off. >> Yeah. She's going to end up losing kids. Honey, I need to try to not make that happen. >> I know that, man. And I don't want you catching a child charge because of it. She's been warned. >> This I feel like she's bringing you in all the mess. But the children say you're the fiancé. >> Yes, ma'am. At the same time, man, I've been doing so much to try. Man, >> you are doing a good job. Man, we got nowhere to go. >> So, let's fix the dog right now and let's just let him keep this dog. >> Why you got to he Why you got to keep the dog for us? >> Well, you want the dog with all your problems? >> What problem? The dog over here with us. That dog is like family to us now. Come on now. >> Okay. If you're able to financially take care of it, >> we could. >> Okay. Where's the papers for the dog? >> Ma'am, do you have >> I get a check from the government. Huh? >> Watch the bee. Honey, do you do you um do you have papers that show the dog's yours? >> It's It's not showing mine. >> No, I got the papers. I got the papers of the dog. >> If you have no papers showing that it's not yours, I mean, if we can't come to an agreement, we'll take the dog. But I need a bigger picture. Will, you got to save this house. I'm trying to save it right now, but I'm doing this by myself. >> I see that, honey. It's hard on me. >> She's going to end up making you catch a charge with these kids. >> I know. That's why I'm >> That's why I came over. I mean, I'm not >> That's why I'm doing everything. >> Just because I'm a woman doesn't mean I'm pro woman. This is bad, really. That is bad. >> I love bad milk. >> This dog is the least of the problems. You need to let somebody take care of this dog so you can get on your feet. >> Hey, it's like this. Um, >> Alex, I'm going to need you to go do a walk through of the house. I'll be right back, Willie. Hang out here. This is them. Alex, you got to walk through. This is a major DCF case. They need to be contacted immediately. And she's probably going to be 10:15 for child. There's two prior DCF cases. And then told them if they came back, they were taking the kids. So, we need to work on that first and foremost, and then we'll deal with the dog. There's no running on the outside. >> What officers found inside that house, however, had nothing to do with the dog. Three refrigerators sat in the kitchen. Two of them packed with rotting food, crawling with bugs and coated in heavy mold so thick that officers warned each other not to breathe it in. The third contained nothing but a jar of mayonnaise. The water had been shut off by the homeowner weeks earlier, meaning the children had no running water, no way to shower, and no functioning toilet. The toilet itself was filled to the brim with layers of feces with flies swarming around it. Rat droppings were scattered throughout the residence. Living in those conditions were three children aged 11, 12, and 17 who had been surviving by going to a friend's house to shower. And it was unclear how many days had passed since they last had access to running water at all. >> So the agile that you're working, it's important to me, but it's the least of this coal. It's not a thing. Can't do it. >> Okay. Well, I want you to listen to me. >> So the mom has prior DCF cases. They've taken the kids a couple times. The mom just informed me if DCF gets called again that we are taking the children. >> That house is horrible. There's no running water. There's nothing. So, if we can get your girl from the county on the phone real quick or whoever it is you call with DCF, expedite that and they might want a 1015 mom for child. >> It just has to be It depends on who um >> Well, I know you have to sign the case. So, it's not like I >> Yeah, but she's 108 and she'll always come to calls the girl that works for the county. What's her name? >> Oh, she doesn't work for DCF, >> but she does cases with them, right? >> She does. No, she's a behavioral analysis unit. So, when you have a baker, she comes to talk. >> Well, she definitely needs to talk to him because he is psychosis. The kids sitting down. Asperger or autism. They kicked him out of school cuz it's mental instability. >> We don't need Teresa to 10:15. >> No, I know that. I just want DCF to know what's coming right now and see if they want to come out with the names of the mom. They might want to do an emergency call out. >> Okay. based on what she just told my teeth. Can you give me the first Can I get the little boy the both boys names and date first? >> Come here. >> If DCF comes, this is between them and the mother. >> Okay. If you guys are dating and you guys are together, >> I appreciate I just thought maybe he'd be more helpful, but I didn't explain it right. >> I will take care of him. I promise. >> It's her and her kids. That's what I need to deal with right now. This dog and you and this neighbor, I'm not saying I don't care about it. It's back burner for me because there's a pending case. I'mma call them right away. Okay. I just know no about the living conditions of the house cuz there's no water. So, this has nothing to do with you. >> Can I say one thing? She going to give us a She said we stay here, but how can we pay to get the water? She going to give us a lease. >> That's what I want you to stay and tell DCF. I want you at least trying to pay. That's what I want. Just don't talk to her anymore and let me let the lady let you hear that. I got that on my camera. Now I need it on a statement. >> So I talked to DCF. Um supervisor. >> Um so she is cobbling around to get us somebody out there to see if one kids or two name anybody that was [music] a suitable parent. She would like us to hold off on a physical 10:15 until she gets here because she wants to talk. >> Oh, absolutely. >> So, there's that. Um, reference. So, you're reference to the he walked over here engaged in a verbal altercation. I don't know. I didn't see physically him pick up this thing. But anyway, he's inviting his >> I will deal with the dog after the last walk through the whole house. >> That's not an issue. >> And I want to walk through it. Be quiet. >> I'll deal with it in a second. So, do you care for this dog? >> Oh, for the last year and a half. I have >> Oh, all the time he comes with me. >> And here's where we have a problem. If she's got papers that says the brother's the owner, >> he's got he knows I have the dog. >> Three-way call and when he was in Flagler, I was going to see him twice a week by phone. We were over there. >> Okay. Well, your gestures don't go unnoticed. All I care about is who owns it on paper, >> right? >> Her brother and she said that. >> He said he had paperwork. >> You're making my scene worse. I got it. >> I got paper with me. >> Maybe I might give him to her. She said I might. >> I'm past the dog. I just want the dog out of my scene is what I'm saying. Nice. Want >> to go hang? Just take them. >> Thank you. Before I change my mind. >> Go take them. Go take them. What's going on is like I say when my brother go ahead with her when my brother got incarcerated or whatever I stay in common. So I just I had a baby I have 23 years. So I've been staying here. >> Yeah house. >> Do they have a note a lease? >> No they don't have a lease. I >> they've been here 2 months. They've been here. He just told me cuz I come in when he was doing all this arguing and rolling up in the neighbor's face. He was like, "Yeah, I've been here since November." And I'm like, "November." So the sister, my brother, my brother's girlfriend is his sister. She's the one gave her brother the okay with his girlfriend. >> So they squatters. >> Squatters. >> Okay. But Squatters I could have addressed two months ago. Now I can't. She says there's an electric bill in her name. >> That's That's Listen, I'm You don't see me? I don't know. >> Do you want the dog or you want him to have it? >> I told him he can have it, but right now I got >> Keep the dog in the house. He's not getting it back. I'll be right back. You already knew I was giving it to you, didn't you? >> Long as my reputation gets out there, I don't play. I'm happy. >> You know it's a disgusting mess, but is there running water? >> No water that >> No water. No food. Every fridge, one fridge works and it has nothing in it. The other two are covered in mold and reek. Um the there's no running water at all. The toilet is full to the brim of feces. >> So, I explained to Michelle that the house can be that dirty and it would be okay. But the rest of it, no. There's not >> basic essentials. >> There's not 1 oz of food, Jeeoff. There's no milk. There's no eggs. There's no butter. There's peanut butter. There's no food. Zero. There's nothing for them to drink. There's no dairy. There's no water. And she's had the kids taken away multiple times. >> The feces is all the way on top of the toilet full of poop. On top of poop on top of poop. >> No plumbing. There's flies all over it, which means it's been going on for over a month and a half. So, it's probably one of the worst ones I've seen. And for me to tell you that, get ready. >> All right. Is DCF on? >> I talked to a DCF supervisor. She's going to have someone on their way. She's going to call me with an ETA. >> So, we go with the hotline first. >> No, I called straight to the supervisor. >> Oh, do we need to do a hotline on this, though? >> She's going to call me back and let me know if I need to do that or if she has taken my report on my behalf. The reason we did that, Jeff, is because DCF was out with her before with their last case and they told her if she has one more encounter, all of the kids are being immediately pulled. So that's why we call. She has pending pending cases. >> What we need to hear is we need a detailed report of what you're seeing and then um I mean does does it show where it's charged with? >> Absolutely. When you walk through you'll see it. What I don't want to do is charge Willie for it, but once DCF comes here, they might want it because they're living as a family and he's allowing all of this to go on. >> Are you thinking about the DC arrest or you >> Yes. times two. I'd rather just do one because mom was told from DCF, get it together. >> Mom's biological mom or the mothers. Willy's he he's only the rhythm boyfriend, right? >> That's what I'm trying to accomplish with him. He's just the boyfriend. So it's not child, but he's been here the whole time and knows these kids have no food or no water. >> My thing is is he's claiming ownership as them as these are my daughter. This is my dad. >> They call him dad. >> Yeah, they call him dad. >> What we're going to need to do is we're going to need to to I don't know if CPT is involved, but they need to interview the children. >> PCF's on their way. They're going to talk. >> I think PCF the best guys can do that. I'd rather have them probably do. >> That's why I called you. I I had in my head already with everything I have. It's enough for a PC on view for mom. um the children, all three to be placed, but the little girl came outside and goes, "I saw you talking to me. Here's my papers. My neck's broken." And it's from that individual right there. >> The back window. >> Yeah. Her neck's clearly broken. We clearly saw that. You know, >> I think, you know, show I think it was an intentional act when they tried to to to make it look like she was hit so they could trans. >> I just want to share my day with you and have you do this walk through. That's what I want because all followup gets done by you. So, it's just easier if you're here. >> This is detective trailer. Let's go do a walk, >> Alex. >> And um the project and and we got from the project. >> Did you guys Did you guys live on church at one time? South Chapel. >> 42 South Chapel. >> And then when did you move here? Did you guys move here together? >> Did we all move together? >> Together? Okay. And when was that? >> We had nowhere to go. Well, everybody didn't leave together because we have to have like a say so before we can get in. We did not break in here or anything like that. Okay. Um we've been getting the lights on. >> Who's Whose house is this? >> Well, right now I It's I guess it's her house. >> You guess are y'all paying rent? >> Um we fused to pay the rent because She my girl released cuz the water went on. Now we need the water. I don't want to pay. Why we going to live here? Cuz she know the water ain't on. How we going to rent? We can't like them. We everything but you my least. >> Okay. >> And we ain't no So you you don't have any water on your Let's take a walk through. Let's Let's take a look. We're going. >> So who owns this house? Well, right now they say he's owner. >> Where's my family? >> She's in prison. >> Okay. So, she cover everything, right? My sister >> is her name. >> And where she live? So, is there an agreement for you, Michelle, and the kids to stay here? >> Um, it was because the man in the white car should be from the city. He said he told us to uh clean his place, clean everything out, the code. >> Yeah. He came here from K County and he been telling him that um I've been trying to clean up cuz we're reversing that and we've been asking her you can't go to the lease. I got kids my kids. Come on now. You said I'll come you know take the kids like but she don't want to give the lease up. You know >> let me ask you this now. You've been here for you say about 2 months. Do you think this is a safe environment getting the basic necessities of these children to live here? >> I know you don't make your own decision, but these children can. Do you think this is a safe environment for these children to live in? >> Um, without water? Yes. >> Well, there's there's no water. >> I guess you wouldn't know. Let me see. >> Okay. Well, how how long you been without water? >> Oh, two weeks. About a week. >> About a week. So, you're lacking water. I don't see very much food in there. Uh you know you did open for you but there's tons of not food. >> But do you think it's a safe environment for children living there? >> Well right now how it looking right now? >> Probably not. It's not right. No >> I agree with that. >> Hey sir. Um you think it's right to have somebody stand here with everything messed up like this? >> Hold on one second. Give me a second. Hey buddy, a mess. So, so the same two people that are involved in this last year today now that's a whole different thing. They're living in a house that's absolutely just Give me one second. Give me one second. That is absolutely just disgustingly gross. No water all over the place. species all come in the toilet and everything is ruined after I mean this these conditions are so it's just unbelievable. So, you know, they came here for a disturbance and then they actually make entry. The service has been handled, but they made entry to the house and they're wanting to do a uh the DC has been notified. We'll be on the way. Uh but they want to get on site arrest for on there's no food. It's foul. It stinks. There's crap all over the place. He does have power. There's no running water. >> Yeah, I looked down. The only thing there's one fridge in there that has an offering. It's got rotten food in it. Uh it's disgusting. And the other one, the smaller fridge that is offering only has condoms in it. Mustard, ketchup, and jelly. >> No, that's that that's what we're going to do and wait till DCF gets here and see if we know if we want to do the interview with DCF to do the interview. But if you want me to do, I can talk. I like to have your license. I love his son cuz he is getting involved with her. >> What made the situation even more urgent was the mother's history with child protective services. Michelle had multiple prior DCF cases and investigators had previously warned her that if they were called out again, her children would be taken immediately and placed in emergency care. >> I got to ask you, what's the story with this house here? How h how long y'all been living here? We >> been here since late in October. >> It's October. Okay. Who else? >> And she knew we were there cuz she she came. She said, "Okay, I'm going to work out something." And she said, "Rent's going to be She said, "What are we going to say for rent?" He told her 500. She said, "Oh." She said, "Well, I'm thinking maybe like 680 or something." She's like, "Let me go." >> Who is she? >> Okay. >> Said, "Let me go get some papers, whatever." She's like, "And then we'll drop a lease." She said, "Because I'm I always like to give somebody a chance." So we then we I guess you know she went to the hospital whatever which I mean the they knew we was here the whole time but we need the water on you know hard clean a house no water we get no water we drink it >> and >> so you guys moved in in October >> so >> cuz kicked me out and my lived right across the street and I couldn't stay like in I I can't go anywhere cuz I don't know where he is. He's going to shoot me in the face. >> How many children do you have? >> Three. >> Three. And and your oldest is what's what's your oldest name? 17. >> Okay. And that's is it uh is that would that be? >> No. Everybody thinks that. >> And all right. So, how old? >> 11. >> 11. >> And how old? >> 12. >> 12. >> So, two girls stay in one room. >> Yeah. >> The boy. He's cold. >> Yeah. They they stay in one room because >> Okay. Two girls stay in rooms. All right. So, how long do you guys go without water? >> Um, it was on for a little bit. How long has it been off? >> Uh, probably about like a week. >> A week. Okay. And so I mean, how are you guys using the bathroom? Cuz that's it's I mean So what's going on with the bathroom? >> Yeah. Uh, we uh you like like my kids, they go to friends houses. Um, go to the laundromat. >> There you go. >> Um, and there's lots of places to go to use the bathroom and then like like the boys, they go outside. >> Okay. So, I I did a little walk through, you know, let me walk into the house >> and I'm going to ask you as a mother, do you think inside that house is safe and a good >> as long as I'm there? Yeah. >> Okay. With the conditions as no water. Now, I looked into the refrigerator, too. One refrigerator's got off. It's got rotten food in it. We know about that. And then you got a small refrigerator with just condiments in it. >> No milk on it. Just ketchup, maybe some jelly. >> Don't do you think there's some issues here? >> You see my children? They eat fine. Okay. >> Okay. I'm not saying >> we have to go on a daily thing cuz I get my food stamps on the 20th. He gets his on the 15th. So we're able to keep food. My kids eat everything. So I mean like they don't go without eating. And so if they if money on him right now >> if they're going to get lunch, what were they going to eat for lunch? >> Well, we have to go to the store. Y'all stop us. We was going to the store. That's where we're going to send the kids to the store. But y So we going to send the kids to the store, but he's got money. I'm going to go to the store to get the food. Okay. >> Sometimes you have, you know, it's day by day. I don't work because my head's for my ex trying to kill me and this whole county is against me and what's hurting me. >> Well, I don't have any. I don't want to. I'm just trying to find out what's going on here. I you know I I have to be I have to watch out for the wellbeing of everyone children adults everything else I walk in that house it's just it's just it's kind of you know not not the best condition >> now how you live how messy it is that's that's you know that's that's your thing but there are conditions in there that can like mold that can be affected to your health feces and urine that could be affected to your health when exposed uh you know we got we the the decayed food that's in there that could be affected. There's decayed food. >> Oh, yeah. We don't know. >> Yeah. You know, it's and and it there's >> there's things piled in but could fall on your head or >> the one room stuff stacked to here could fall and things like you know there's dangerous dangerous conditions of that house. >> You know, >> is there any current DCF cases with your family right now? >> So DC has never investigated your family? >> No. I mean, yeah, it was closed though. Like there was when um my my ex tried to kill me with Flagger County State of Florida makes it a woman's fault that if she's getting her ass whooped, it's her fault to have it on her cake. So they took my kids and they >> How long you and Willie been together? >> Like two years. >> Two years. So you both lived up on South Chapel? >> Yeah. >> Whatever happened to South Chapel? >> Well, he didn't live there. He visited. He he didn't live with me. >> Okay. >> Cuz he obviously he wasn't allowed. But um they uh they didn't want me living in there because uh we had roaches. Cuz the house is dirty. So >> they kicked you out cuz you had roaches? >> Yeah. Cuz my house is dirty. They said it's because of infestation. And the pest control man cuz like right now I'm like I'm barely breathing cuz uh you're making me very uncomfortable. But um he tried to come in my house and I told him I was in a room. That's it. And I said hold on. And I already called Willie cuz I can't be around people without I need to know I'm safe. And the pest control man just said I got to do something. and he walked in my house and so Willie got him kicked him out of my house and they said it wasn't cool and they kicked me out >> because I gave him they said I need proof Will he didn't live there which I >> So that was the housing authority. >> Yeah, I provided that Willie didn't live there. I provided um like my rent was up to par like my rent was paid and then when I tried to pay my rent they said they wouldn't accept it. And then um they gave me a renewal of my of my lease and I said um I was going to be late on it so I had it out yet. And they said, "Don't worry about it. We won't take it anyway." And they just >> I don't know. I'm not I'm not mad too mad. I like my house, but at the same time trying to kill me live like I can see him from my door. So >> So I I want to I want to let you know that right now the reason why we're here and we're concerned is because that house inside is not in the condition. a lot. Thank you. >> Willie said on the way. >> Yeah, Willy said his aunt she taken. I'm okay with that. >> And and you know there's we don't see any running water. >> There's not much there. >> There's no there's no food. I know you understand you got to go and get some food. >> Yeah. There's >> but there's nothing there and they >> and it's just it's and of course kids are in school so we're a little concerned about that, you know. Um >> well they they've been through a lot and you know they just want to go back in their own school and um the water would turn off and I went trying to get it back on. I can't get a clear clear state who owns this property. >> She owns it. That's why I made her stay. I'll get her for you. >> Okay. Her brother. >> Why? So does she does she allow them to stay in? >> No. I'll tell you her brother was staying here. She owns the house. I'll be right with you, sweetie. One minute. >> Her brother was staying here. She let him stay because >> the brother's in prison. >> Yeah. Brother went in prison. Brother's sister, brother's girlfriend came here. Brother's girlfriend's sister let them stay cuz she knows Willie. Willie let them in. They're all squatters. But they knew that. So they went and got electric bill in their >> So they're legally in there. >> Uhhuh. >> Okay. So there's no going on. >> Well, let me verify that myself cuz I didn't see the bill. I had it in my hand, but let me open it. >> Michelle, give me that water bill. Give me that the bill that's got your name on it. >> Mine, too. >> You got You got mail that comes here. >> Oh, I have mail in there, too. >> Not out here. >> Oh, I know exactly what that is now. >> In your name. >> Oh, my bad. No, don't go back in the house. >> I do. I have it all written for you. The guys are >> the guys are going to The reason we've called you is she was adamant that once you were called, you were taking all of them because that's what you told her the last time you were out with her. She says that um DCF has been involved in all of her cases many times. In this last one, they told her when they get called, they're taking all three children and doing an emergency placement. She gave your terminology. So, for her to say that, somebody whoever was prior >> possibility, >> her prior DCF case must want to know. >> What is mom's name? >> Right here, honey. I'll get it up. Michelle will give it to you. I just want to give you a heads up while they're in the back seat cuz they said they were going to take flight. The other son is in a green shirt. >> What happened is y'all came here under a third party. Apparently, you knew someone that knew her brother. Her brother's >> brother. My brother got kids. Yeah. And and that's how the connections came through. They said, "Yeah, I guess they >> they weren't cha South Chapel. You were on Chapel, but you guys got kicked out." She said, "Okay, you can come in the house now cuz we're moving going somewhere else." That happens, you know, and that's something we can't control. Okay. >> She's going to come and she say she's going to give us a lease and everything. >> Ask the actual owner. She doesn't Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. >> She does not want She She doesn't want you here. >> Well, she said she originally she was going to give us a lease. I don't know. A lot of things could have been said, but it's, you know, it's >> Yeah, I need proof, huh? >> Exactly. Exactly. >> So, >> and then this right here is my daughter. She by the car >> dude across the street. >> She had some problems. >> Still wondering how they Where's that camera even over there? >> It probably was a kid. >> They They even told us they had showed the camera to y'all. >> We We saw the camera and I worked the case this morning. >> Yes, sir. Let me explain this. I think I explained this once. Yeah. >> All right. I know somehow someway through family, friends, and anything else, you managed to get in here and I guess it was a friend of yours, a sister, something like that. Hey, we're moving out. You can come on in. >> Well, you know what? They let you in that that's that's that's a legal way of entering. >> Okay. So when they left, I am assuming that you and Michelle with the children were going to the stole people in this house. >> Correct. >> Yeah. >> Now that doesn't mean >> that doesn't mean that everything in this house belong to you. It does not. >> It means they're giving you permission to stay in here. So these cars and everything you can't you still can't do it cuz they don't belong to you. >> Okay. So I ain't had to clean this up. my neck. >> But what it is, you you you assume responsibility to >> to make sure this home, this structure is safe for kids and for adults, you know, it's up to you. I mean, you know, you have no running water. That's But when you have kids that they got to have running water, they got to have electricity, they got to have fresh food, they got to have water, they got to have all the basic necessities of life. >> Yes, they do. >> And >> Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I know. >> Many of those things aren't there. >> Yeah. I know. I tried. So it's is you too as adults responsible make sure those necessities are there or get it >> call someone call DC call somebody said hey we need help we need this we have no running water that's your responsibility you know you know we can lead a horse to a trick so I can we give you all these these resources but you've got to you've got to call for these resources So, you're responsible to make sure this house has basic living conditions. >> Yes. >> And environment for the children. >> Mhm. >> You you and I hate to say this, and I don't mean to mean, but you failed to do that. >> You failed badly. >> I have a question. Um, see, I was living in Mondex with my father. They said that running water is a privilege. Yeah. >> Um, they said uh electricity is a privilege. They said that we could live in a tent out of the woods. >> Okay. >> As long as two adults, that is true. But when you have children, >> No, they're talking for my kids. They're talking for the kids. When you have children, there are basic necessities. By law, you have to have these children. Okay? That that's just the floor. >> I don't care where your mom, I know people have their attitudes and and and how they think about things. But you the basic things you have to have for children. You have to have clean running water. You have to have the clean place to sleep in, clean bedding. You have to have clean clothes. You have to have surgery. Um, I just want to know this. Did she know that we was here the whole time. >> No, she's she claims that she did. No, someone went through the back door on this without her without advising. Now, that's unfortunately that's on her because >> because you're here illegally. Okay, you're here illegally, but you went through the back door route. >> You didn't go through the owner >> and that that sees now the owner is going to say this is over and she has the right to go to the courthouse and do a mixture. >> Okay. >> Okay. Now, we can't kick you out. >> Yes. But when eviction come, how long does that take? >> Man, it depends. Depends how fast it get takes as as you know >> 2 weeks, 3 days. It depends how fast the paperwork goes through. >> And at the same time with eviction, so we can be living here with no water. >> But they say, we just went through eviction already. >> She doesn't have to put water on here. >> Well, how are we supposed to get water? >> She didn't put you in here. She's not responsible for your water. Wouldn't it be better if the children were in a place that they had fresh running water, food, clothing, and everything else rather than being in there and then get beaten every day? Huh? >> And then get beaten because I was in the system. You're stereotyping. I don't know what you're saying in the system. >> Okay. >> I'm not saying it never happened, but those children are going to be kept in a safe environment. >> Yes. >> To including You're 17, right? >> Yeah. >> Including you. >> Yeah. And I was beat in the system. >> Okay. Well, I'm and I'm sorry if Amy had any bad, you know, were you in a foster foster home? >> Yes, sir. >> Okay. Well, I I apologize if anyone went bad, but but >> we can't let children live in this house. That's why we're here today. >> Yes. >> We cannot let allow that happen. >> So, we're we're fixing this problem. >> Yes. Thank you. >> We're fixing it. Thank you so much. >> So, you know, it's all I can say, but as >> I would just as adults, we just need your help. Help us out. get everything on track and we want a family who >> That's why we have DCF here now. >> Okay. Thank you, sir. >> They're going to get the the ball or years of motion. >> Yes, sir. >> So, we hopefully we can get some more of these kids that are going to, you know, be taken care of at, you know, where they're safe, whether fed. >> How how long, sir? We like >> I can't. >> So, who we got to talk to? >> This process takes time. No, they take time. >> At this point, officers were confident that Michelle was in trouble. But Willy's legal involvement was less straightforward. He was not the biological father. The children's actual father was in jail for a them. But the children called Willie dad. He had been living in the home as the head of the household and he was fully aware that the children had no food, no water, and no functioning toilet. Officers debated whether that was enough to potentially extend the charge to him as well. While they worked through the legal question and waited on DCF, they needed to keep both Michelle and Willie on scene. Not quite sure what's going on, if you're facing charges or what's going to happen, but I'm going to be as polite as I possibly can. I gave you the cigarette. I'll let you sit in here and finish smoking the cigarette and then we'll decide what we do from DCF after that. >> And then we'll probably put Willie in the back to decide, but we're not sure. But unless you're under 18, you get cuffed when you go back in the car. >> So, we haven't decided yet. 224. >> I'm going to put all this in the house. Okay. >> Nothing in the bra. >> No. Normally I have gloves, but nothing in the bra. Make sure I didn't get in. I'm going to leave that right there. So this way I can give you another drag of it when I put some gloves on. >> You don't want me to fart. >> No, I know. But I'll let you have it when we decide what we're doing. I'll throw that in there if you just want to put the AC on. >> I think I should have the AC on, but I'll go. >> Thank you. She's sitting in here. >> I want you to sit with her, but you have to be cuffed when you get in the car. >> I didn't want to get cuffed. >> You're not going to jail. Get over there. >> I didn't want to get cuffed, though. >> Well, that's just how it's going to be because I'm going to let you sit with her and I'm going to give her a cigarette and I'm going to try and um >> as of right now, you are not under arrest. I promise you. >> Okay. DCF makes that decision, not me. >> Arrest. you, her, anybody. They make that decision. Not me. This is yours. I'm not taking it. I'm just going to put it on the car with your stuff in case DC has something otherwise. >> Hey, that's my cousin right there. >> Right. And that's what I'm trying to do, Willie, right now. >> What I'm saying now, I ain't in that room. >> I agree. Go ahead and get in. But what I mean is when I say I agree, >> you want I didn't talk to you. >> Call my sister. >> Go ahead and get in. I'm going to come back and talk to you. As of right now, I'm not even going to mirandize you because you're not under arrest. I'll talk to you in a minute. I'm just putting you in here while we finish this investigation. >> I'm trying to tell you you better check on him cuz he just went in the house. >> The the older kid. >> Yeah. He might be gone out of your door. >> Yeah. >> I can't do everything. I left the boy with you. Bud, are you getting some clothes? Hey, are you getting some clothes? >> Just getting whatever I can haul. >> What you need, baby? Did you get everything? >> Yeah. >> Get what you can take. Go ahead. I'm watching. >> No vapes, no nothing. Don't get in trouble. >> I don't do that. >> Come on. >> Yes. >> I'm There's bugs and they get in my clothes. Come outside, baby. >> Is that somebody I can talk to for you? >> Maybe. All right. Um, one sec. Okay. What did you say? >> There you go. But don't go back in there cuz I don't want this on my clothes. Come sit. >> You want me to talk to him? >> All right. I'll call him now. >> All right. >> Who is it? >> No, that's just my coworker. She's cuz um she has uh his number and is his wife. >> Okay. Come out here with me cuz I don't want to go back inside. I want to get that stuff on my clothes. One. When you turn 18 >> 3 months, >> what? Where do we get this? >> Huh? >> 13 section. >> What in the god's name, son? >> You pulled out so many. We don't We don't >> You got any more airsofts in that bag? >> No. >> Any mech 10 grenades or bazookas? >> No. >> Let me see. >> Tell me the truth. >> I don't got none of those. >> You're the only one not going to jail here. >> So tell her the truth. >> You're the only one. There ain't nothing left in that bag. >> Okay, show me. Leave it here. Let me see it. >> Don't get in trouble. >> I'm guarant you do not want to look in there. >> Why? >> No, it's not because of there's a weapon in there. There's a something else. >> You going to tell me about the toy you just ordered on Amazon? >> Yeah, that's what it is. >> All right, then we're good then. That's all I'mma find. >> Yeah, that in my wallet. >> I'm always smarter than you boys. You can't be smarter than we. I work with damn with damn 200 men. There ain't nothing in here you're going to shock me with. Did you give it a name? Is it called a rabbit or something? >> Uh, no. >> All right. Do I want to know what you're going to do with this? >> I don't know. I was just going to have it. I just ordered it, man. >> Have it for what? [laughter] >> I just ordered it. >> You know, you should be getting deodorant and sneakers instead of >> I can get more straight tripping. What in the hell? >> This is staying here. I'll tell you that right now. What in the name of >> I got one hand. >> I know. That's >> what in the god's name. >> Kid walking around with a hairs on. He's worried about this toy. Never mind. >> Trying to get himself in trouble cuz he don't want to go in the system. >> You're fine. You're not going to go in the system. That's all I can do. I promise you. Okay, >> I promise I'm all I could do. Your mother can't guarantee that, but you I can still save. >> Okay, look at me. I promise you. >> You decide if you go in the system, okay? If it's wrong, don't do it. If the car's bad, don't get in it. If it's Don't smoke it. Those are your choices. I can't control your choices. I can just help you get you on the right path. Okay? Don't cry. We're gonna fix it. Okay? You're gonna be 18 and you can get away from all of this. All of this. We could even go and see if you can get one to the military. See, all you need is a GED. We can help you. Don't cry, baby. We can help you. Okay? All right. We're going to fix it. I promise you. See, I can't even say no to him. This is why I take care of a bunch of kids anymore. Look how cute he is. I got to send somebody for some cheeseburgers to feed these kids. >> Do you guys have the same dad? >> Yeah. >> The real dad? >> Yeah. >> What's his name? Oh, is he in jail? >> Probably. Yeah, he doesn't. >> He's the one who Julia 31 Julia 34. >> Yes, they do. And he's court ordered to be imprisoned for them. We probably should have told you we exhausted all means to place them. And there's no one. All three of them. >> Wait, so you guys read that he's court ordered? >> Not court ordered. They're in prison. The dad's in jail because they're victims of a crime that he did with them. >> You saw that? They didn't just tell you that. >> No, the mom told me earlier the dad's in jail and the kid just told me their dad's in jail because he them. >> They have the same jail. The same dad. >> Can you check CCIS or anything and see if his dad is in jail? I was on the >> Yeah, the mom just told us the dad's in there. >> Um, well, they said it happened in Georgia, but mom's telling me that he's in a halfway house in Jacksonville, >> but she's telling the the officer. >> I'll double check with mom. I'll ask. >> This should not be this hard. What is the problem? >> Why don't they take them? >> I don't understand. Why am I dealing with this forever? Alex, unlock me. >> Michelle, where's their father? I have no idea. >> You told me that he was in jail. The kids told me he's in jail. You told DCF a halfway house. >> Where does she talk to him at in jail? >> 10294. >> Hold on, Willie. I'm trying to help DCF. Yes. >> Star, when's the last time you talked to your dad? >> Few months ago. >> Few months ago. Was he in jail? Was he out? >> If I won the lottery right now and want to give him a check with money, where would he be? >> Doing what? Uh, do you have a phone? >> Yes. >> You have a messenger? >> Yes. >> Can you pick up your stuff? I can log in. >> Okay. He's not in prison. She talked to him months ago. The wife has no idea he's in Jacksonville. They got him on Messenger a few months ago. They don't know where he is. He's got a bad problem. So, they don't see him. He's in and out of jail. >> The owner of the house. >> Oh, that's the owner of the house. >> I'm sorry. I should have told you this earlier to start it for you. I knew there was nowhere to place him. >> Um, all right. So, try this forberry person you're saying? >> Yeah, that that is the person that um they did a safety plan with. um in Jacksonville in 2022. >> So who did that safety plan? >> Jackson did. Okay. >> In 2022. >> Okay. She also told me that they were in Sorry. She also told me they were in Jack in Georgia in a house in Georgia, but they all left there because the parents were striking them. I was like, "Okay, it's probably cuz your mouth. Were you behaving or were they striking you?" >> Oh, at the He said that at the foster home he was in. He was >> All three of them were in the same foster home in Georgia. >> DCF said that Michelle called them directly and she never told Michelle not to do an emergency. >> We got to go through the hotline. Is that Did that would that go through? >> Yeah. This is She told Michelle not to do that, that she was coming here. So then when she got here, she talked to Michelle and told Michelle to do it on the web. So Michelle did it on the web. Now she's saying there's no reported case cuz the web takes for days. So now Michelle is reporting it on the web, but she doesn't know what to do with the children. She's talking to a supervisor. Do they not take children in Banell? >> Sure they do. DS State take the children is what I'm telling you. I I don't know. But right now, DCF is here. So DCS take away. >> That's why I'm sharing with you. She said no, they're not because Michelle didn't do a case. So I had Michelle always that's why it even if you have a even if you have a contact lease, if you got a call, right, >> a copy. She told her not to and told her to do it online. So Michelle did it online. She was doing what she was told. >> But my can we still get >> We're already on the phone now doing an emergency one telling them the supervisor. But it shouldn't have to be this hard. and begging them to place the children. >> So I understand I I >> What is the norm here so I don't lose my professional? >> Well, I think the norm is we always you call the news hotline first. No matter who you know in DCF, make sure they have reports. >> So is it 104 to take the two 1015s, go to the jail and she can wait with the kids. >> That's as far as I know. Yes. >> Okay. I just want to make sure these are cared for. >> Okay. We just have a question. >> Yeah. >> Are you okay with us taking them now? because we are taking them and going to the jail because they're just sitting in the back of the car and he's very large and we don't want him to become combative. So the 707 is completely finished and we were charging both of them because they reside as a family and they call him dad and he's dad with child and we're going to the jail. Okay. >> But we just wanted to make sure one of us can stay here with you with the kids but we want to make sure you knew we were taking them both for child and leaving. >> Okay. Finding somewhere for the three children to go proved to be far more complicated than anyone anticipated, and it came down to a bureaucratic breakdown that frustrated officers on scene. When the responding officer first contacted DCF, she bypassed the standard child care hotline and called a supervisor directly, believing it would speed up the process. The supervisor told her to submit the report through the online web portal instead. Michelle did exactly that. But what nobody flagged at the time was that web submissions could take hours or even days to generate an active case number in the system. Officers spent the better part of 2 hours trying to untangle the paperwork while the children sat in the back of a police car with the air conditioning running. Having already told officers they planned to run the moment DCF showed up. >> Listen for DCF. I don't want to say you're in less trouble than her, but she's got some issues going on with prior cases. So, I know you know Michelle because of this and you living together and residing and the kids saying they call you dad on our camera DCF. All of us agreed it's child. So, you're going to have to go to jail. >> Oh, me. >> Both of you because you resided as the family. Now, this just came up to play. So, now we're trying to figure out where to put the children. If the children have places to go, it looks like you have a backup plan and you take care of the children. Good. I don't want to put the children in the state. Can you work with me and give me someone that will take all three so you can bond out in the morning? >> Bond out. But >> that's the that's the least of the problem. You going if you don't give me somewhere for these kids, they're going to go in the system and she's never going to get them back for like months. >> Now, I'm going to say this right now, but one, my chest is hurting. That means I'm walking. I understand. That's why I said I'm tired of waiting. We're getting you out of here right now. >> Okay. For two. Why am I going to jail >> for child? Because you have >> for me now. >> And now I'm on arrest because I didn't do nothing. Y'all didn't y'all can't say I did of a child. I told you I didn't have responsibilities as as as a parent or or someone that's in the house responsible for those children to make sure they have their basic needs. That responsibility was not about >> Hey, sir. Listen, listen. Listen, sir. I'm trying to read I'm trying to help you understand me. >> Okay. >> Okay. Understand you. You haven't advised your rights. So, you want you want to hear your rights before I before you talk to me anymore? >> Yeah. Cuz you do have rights. >> I got right. >> You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to sir. >> You want me to read your rights? Cuz I, you know, if you tell me something that can >> I don't want to get I don't want to cause no problems to me. I'm my girlfriend. Okay. But at the same time, sir, at the same time, we paid we take care of that dog. Okay, that's one of them. Okay, they got mad at us. They mad at us now with the the water was on. Okay, we had water on. You could we got proof of that. They That man over there turned the water on. >> All right, I'm going to ask you some questions. Okay, sir. >> I'm going to ask you some questions. But before I ask you any questions, I need to advise you right. Okay, you understand that? After nearly 3 hours of dead ends, it was not a family member or a social worker who stepped up for these children. It was the oldest kid's boss. Calvin, who employed the 17-year-old at a local restaurant, had been reached by phone and drove to the scene. Without hesitation, he agreed to take all three children. >> I get the three kids, they're problem children. The oldest one is really good. >> I got nowhere to put him. >> I ain't coming here. mention cuz he never even said hi to us the whole time. >> Well, I don't know where he's been. He's been gone for a week now. He usually has a little moped bike. >> That's what I wanted to ask. >> Okay. I just wanted to make sure he couldn't stay with you. >> The other two kids, >> I like them. problem. But now I have them, you know, >> but uh I really don't have no place to move on cuz I was pissed off at the parents >> and the way they were treating him. I mean, they weren't >> What about one of them? >> Would the boy get along with you? >> Um the younger one. >> I don't know. The best one would be Star. But let me ask her. One question though. I'm working nights and then if she goes and she hasn't been going to school, I can't be responsible to get her to >> not said. >> Okay. How are you doing? >> I'm here. >> Okay. >> I have a shotgun instead of a rifle now, so I'm kind of jealous. >> It's just for the time being. >> I know. I'm just being sarcastic and making light of the situation. >> I'm really trying to get a house to put you guys in, but everybody tells me you're too mouth. See, >> exactly. >> Nobody wants to take you because of your mouth. There has to come a point in time where you just have to be good because people want to feed you and clothe you. I know someone. >> Okay. You're not staying with with them >> because she's been Baker acted. >> DCF's not going to let you stay there. >> I don't know. What's their call? >> No, cuz the air's on. It's really hot out here. >> Yes, baby. >> Kelvin. Who's Kelvin? Hi, Kelvin. >> How are you? >> I've been better. Calvin, are you a mentor to this young man? >> Yes, sir. I'm also being boss. >> I'm taking both of his parents to jail. He needs a role model and somewhere to go so he doesn't go into DCF. He's going to be 18 in 3 months. He could probably stay with you and work and save his money. >> Well, that's what I was telling him about. >> Would you be willing to do that, Calvin? so he don't lose his job. You stay with me and uh I'll help him to try to find his way. >> Thank you, Mr. Calvin. I will help you with stuff for him, too. Can you come pick him up? >> Uh yes, I can. >> I'll see you shortly. >> All right. >> I told you I would >> in a minute. Not yet. Trying to find him a ride. Bravo 313 1055 street. >> I found a place for him. Calvin's coming. His boss 17y old and he's going to take him. >> His his boss is >> he's on his way. >> What's his name? >> Calvin. I don't know his last name. He'll be here shortly. >> He said he could stay with him for 3 months, save all his money, and in 3 months he'll be 18 and help get him on his feet. Okay. >> He works for him, so when I go ask the mother, I'm sure she'll be okay with it. >> Yeah. He said he works at Banton Chef. >> Yeah, that's what he said. >> Yeah. So, thing is, we got to find out who Calvin is cuz if he's somebody that has any kind of past or anything, we can't let him. >> I'm trying to get for you. >> I know. I just tried this whoever this one was from Jacksonville that took him last time. Either she's not answering or what. And it looks like it's a landline cuz I can't text it either. >> Whoever it is, I don't think they want to go there, but I don't think it matters. >> The Jackson person. >> Yeah, they they are adding. >> Were you able to get um like I got to get some collateral? Did you get collateral for like what the neighbors said? Anything? I saw you going over. >> This is why we came here because Lily and the neighbors want to fight over the dog. >> Over the dog? >> Yeah. >> You want everyone to do this or go there? It doesn't hurt to put it. You can. Doesn't matter. Check with Jeff. >> What's that? >> Marcy's law. >> Oh, >> I always like to put it. >> Yeah. >> But one down. >> So you guys came because >> we came because Willie and him were getting in a fight over the dog. >> I thought it was something over the girls in Chicago. >> That was yesterday. She got run over by that car yesterday. >> The white car. >> I have no idea. Video shows it never happened. Hey bud. >> Um, so she said it's okay for me to get my stuff. Uh, I was just speaking short. >> What stuff? >> Um, my stuff so I can move it off. >> Oh, I'll get it with you, baby. Just give me a minute. Just have a seat and I'll go with you. Okay. >> Who has circle? >> We have a thumb drive from it yesterday. >> Yeah, that house over there. He's got a thumb drive of an incident of him backing up and her trying to run into a car and try to get a check his mother. >> Totally unrelated. But we here came here today cuz Willie was in a fight with him because Willie tried to take the pitbull and he didn't want him to cuz he's been taking care of it since her brother went to jail. >> I'm going to stop keeping up your time cuz we'll never find a house for >> Oh, my supervisor was doing that. >> Okay, good. >> Pitbull is their dog. No, Pitbull is the um the owner that's in jail. Her brother, the lender. That's why all these squatters moved in. >> Oh. >> When he got arrested, the neighbors took care of the dog for him. Molly tried to take the dog back. >> All of them. >> That's why you're here. They have no pump, no water, no screw either. >> Cuz Willy's um the girl in the blue car, her she owns the house, her brother was staying here. Her brother got arrested. When her brother got arrested, >> her brother's girlfriend's sister came here and started talking to Willie. Let Willie move in. A couple of weeks later, the female moved in. And then about a month ago, the kids moved in. And the owner of the house said, "You guys are all squatters. I'm shutting the water off." And shut the water off. >> Who's the owner? What's her name? >> I got it on the call. I'll get her. >> Yeah, I'll have to talk to her. >> 13. >> So they the kids have only been here a month. >> Maybe two. >> So where the hell they live before that? >> Hell if I know. >> You can cancel. >> Mom didn't have custody. I think the house in Georgia. So, we have to try and get as much of that information as possible to to give to our attorney to get PC to remove. >> Yep. >> I just don't understand how come the PC for the child is not enough. >> Like, if we take the parents to jail, they're not here, so now they have to be placed. >> True. >> God bless you. >> It's >> God bless you, Kevin. Go. >> They want to watch like Deadpool. >> Will you walk through with him so he can grab some things cuz he's leaving? >> You guys are not watching Deadpool. I was willing to put something PG-13 on, but >> Deadpool. I'm just kidding. You want to let her know? >> But I'm doing a report now. >> Okay. >> I told her you're already on the phone. She knows. >> Alex, that signal zero is on the counter. They've been living broke for a long time. I mean, I used to take home to a little family. >> There is nothing in this house for them to eat. Somebody should go to McDonald's and get me 99 cent cheeseburgers. >> Listen, Willie, the guy was up to there. He went there and bought two packs of spice. That's it. That's all the money he had. I guess you I mean I know love is something else but go back love can't feed you. Love can't have you with no conting. I said >> in other words take >> going to act like they're large on the street going to catch a beating. And then she said, "You could you could do me a favor if you open this door." >> That's mom. That's mama head. >> But he But that boy that boy was a sweetheart. >> Oh, he a sweetheart right now. >> He didn't want anybody. >> Why don't you go get him some McDonald's? >> Who? >> The children. >> I would if I had the cash out of them. I would definitely go get them some McDonald's. You You want me to go get him a $5 Biggie bag from Wendy's or McDonald's? Which one you want me to do? >> I could do McDonald's. two big back on. >> Yeah. Four or five. >> Yeah. I do. >> How much that is? >> $5. I I I scrape some change if $10 is $5 and some change. I got five. >> Yeah. >> And bring them water. >> Huh? >> Water. >> Water. >> Large water. >> Oh, they get a drink with them. >> Okay. >> Yeah. They get a drink. I'll take a bag. >> Ask them what kind of drink they drink. >> No, they get what they get. >> That's right. Yeah, they get >> But I would like some extra water cuz the water's free for >> Okay. Right. Oh, you you get my concealer? >> Yeah. Hey, I'm going to Wendy's and getting you guys some food. What do you want to drink? >> Coke. Sprite. Diet. Coke. Pepsi. Sprite. >> Coke. >> One Coke. One one Sprite. >> One Coke. One Sprite. And you want the um It comes with the um >> That's all it gets. One Coke. >> No, I know what I'm just saying. It comes with the um Junior Bacon Cheeseburger and the nuggets. >> What What type of sauce you want for your nuggets? >> You can't just get a burger so they don't have to have all these nuggets. >> Oh, no. >> It's a big mess. Oh, that's why it come with a be >> Oh, it comes with it. >> That's $5. You get it, they're going to be full. >> Okay, good. You're welcome. >> But you now you claim these all these three children yours too, right? >> I ain't got no choice cuz I love them and I'm with them. >> I know. And you take care of them like a father. But the problem is as parents we have the [snorts] responsibility to give the minimum minimum um things in life that sustains life such as running water, clean clothes, clean beds, clean inside the house and it doesn't be perfectly clean. Food water and basic basic food groups that they need to eat. Those B is shelter, food, and water. All those things. Right now, we went we walked in there and after you invited us in there, the house is a, you know, the house is an upside down. It's a mess. You got a refrigerator in there with food that's contaminated with not being plugged in. And I know you don't control that, but it's accessible. Somebody get that. And you have >> plumbing that hasn't been worked knows how long. I mean, >> we just got >> When was the last time the water was turned on? What? Turned off the water. The water been off. >> The water been off like a week. >> A week? >> Yes. >> But here's the thing is if the water is off, you there are reasons you can call DCF and say, "Hey, listen. We got two children here or three and we we're in trouble. We need water." And they will get they will find a way to get that water turned on. But it's your responsibility to reach out to those. >> We've been reaching out, sir. We've been reaching out. You don't want to I'm trying to help you understand. We've been doing everything we could. We're not crazy. I'm not crazy. Then I know what's right and what's wrong, sir. And I'm just saying this right here. That lady with the red shirt got a bandana against my wife, my old lady. Cuz my But at the same time, ain't got nothing to do what we talking about right now. But what's important is is this right here. What I looking at, sir, >> that she know we was living here. Okay. and she knows that we were living here and we've been asking the for the lease cuz we call up there and and we need the the her to uh give us a lease to say that we live here and and she going to turn it loose. So, okay, you going to turn the lease loose. Okay, you didn't come here to evict us or nothing like this. Okay, your brother is my brother-in-law. Okay, we you matter. You told us to get the house ever. >> And and and in a perfect world, you're right. Yeah, >> she should turn off. But did she have the legal? Did she legally have to turn it off? >> Got all kinds of rights. >> You don't You telling me I don't got no rights because look what you done to me. >> Well, you put me in handcuffs for nothing. >> Listen, your job >> as a job as a police offic. We arrest the person that committed the crime. >> Who committed the crime? Did I commit? >> What kid did? >> What crime I committed? >> But that's >> I didn't do no child. >> You got to ask them kids what? No way sir. Listen, sir. >> You listen sir. Listen. Okay. This how it is now. Um I need you to call my when you get whatever. I need to call my older sister Katrina son Hancock. Okay. >> You get to make calls. >> They ain't going to let me call nobody. >> Make calls. You go to jail. Yeah, you do. >> You going to make No, it's not working that way. Hey, sir. Listen. I'm trying to tell you. >> We We don't have the >> You got the rights to do whatever you want. You told me everything was going to be all right. So you got me believing whatever you tell me, right? >> I don't know if you telling me the truth or not. >> Okay. DCF also has to do their investigations. We got to listen with DCF. >> Well, you told me they were going to I wasn't under arrest and nothing. I sat here and I talked to you like I supposed to do. >> I told you there was an investigation happening. >> But what it got to do with us? >> My name investigation. >> Well, she got the lady in the house got in trouble, too. She live here. Really? >> Did she live here? >> We're going around circles here. >> Okay. How about this? Going around circles. >> Can I say one thing? What? >> Who live here? Who named the house? >> Apparently you >> and her and and and who else is who house this is? >> I guess the five of you were staying in there, right? No one else is there, right? Was anybody else? >> Yes. And she the lady of the house was staying here, too. The lady in that blue car, she was standing here, too. >> Okay. Well, as far as we know, the two of you were taking care of those three children in the house. >> And she was taking care of it, too. >> When was she in the house? >> She was in the house like she was here yesterday. She was here yesterday. Okay. She come to the house. She'll come through the house, inside of the house, she she do all that. She just go ask her. >> Yeah, she say, "Hey, ask her. Ask her." >> Before they left, the sergeant pulled the children aside and gave them what may have been the most direct conversation any adult had offered them in a long time. >> Any chance you'll take the other two for 24 hours? >> That's what I'm thinking. >> Mom said that 24 hours is great and then it'll give DCF a chance to find a family. >> I will have a talk with them. They can't leave. They got to go to school tomorrow at 0600. They just all three need a shower. All three need dinner and they will go to bed. >> Oh, they know it. They've lived with me before. >> What is your address, Mr. >> Like it was a blessing I was able to even get back in their house. >> That's what I was hoping. Shut your mouth, young lady, and listen to me. It took me 3 hours to find somewhere for him to go. I will send him there without you and I will place you both in the state in a foster home. You can go to Georgia. You can go to South Carolina. That's not going to be our problem anymore. Or you can be nice and appreciate the house that the man wants to give you. Take a shower, eat dinner, and go to bed and shut your mouth. If he so much as calls 911, we will pick you up. If you run, we will catch you. We have dogs, okay? We will catch you. Or do you want to be finally at a place in your life where you know this is a decision you have to make and it's time to grow up that that mouth is going to get you in trouble. Do you want to go with Mr. Calvin? >> Okay. I'm going to make that happen. I'm going to let him go with Mr. Calvin. Okay. >> They're lucky. Yeah. >> Of course. Michelle, stand by. It's temporary. As long as you create foundation for mom and you be that big brother and help, mom can get out and she'll be good. Okay. >> She needs you. Okay. >> Everything going to be all right. All right. >> She needs you. You take care of them while she's away. Okay. >> Bunded out. Your clothes. >> All right. You make sure. >> I'm going to come bring you some clothes. All right. >> We got to get bonded out. Call my older sister. Whatever. >> All right, buddy. He's a good boy. >> I love you. >> You did really good. You're keeping the family together. Very proud of you. Now, between you and me, away from everyone, Mr. Calvin's okay. Mhm. >> You sure? >> Yeah, I've been there before. >> You sure he's okay? Yes, ma'am. >> Okay, go ahead, babe. Thank you so much. >> You got uh >> Everybody can go ahead and be saved. You're young enough. Make good choices. Okay, tomorrow you're going to go to school. somebody bothers you at school, you're going to shut your mouth and you're just going to tell a principal and you're going to be good in school until mommy gets out. It's not going to be what looks like a long time. Okay? They shut the water off here. Mommy didn't. However, you stayed when it was off and we could have helped you. Okay? That's why mommy's going because she didn't have the money to fix that. All right? Your job is to go to school and that's it. Because if you're doing right and you go to school Monday through Friday and get out, she can tell the judge, "I talked to my kids before I went. They're on the right track. They're waiting for me to get out. But you get arrested and you skip school, the judge is never going to put this family back together. And I'm not lying." Okay. Michelle and Willie were each charged with three felony counts of child, one for each child, and an additional misdemeanor count of filing a false police report in connection with the staged car accident the day before. Both were booked into Flaggler County Jail and held on $16,000 bond each. This concludes the report from our investigation division at Twinscope Cops. All individuals involved remain presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Thank you for supporting verified and responsible case analysis.
