You need ice cream. >> Is that for me? Nice ice cream. >> We didn't want to call, but I I told David that look, she was in the pool with the water in it. It takes a split second for a child to drown. >> So So what's going on today? >> Oh, literally I was just sleeping. >> I told him because I had a 2-year-old die on me in the pool. >> Nothing like this ever happened. >> Shortly after 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 28th, 2024, a neighbor on Sheryl Elaine Drive in Bunnell found a 3-year-old child alone in a small backyard pool. What the neighbor would do next is the only reason this didn't end in tragedy. The following presentation contains material that some viewers may find disturbing. The case files and recordings shown here were obtained through official Freedom of Information Act requests submitted directly to the police department and may include previously unseen footage. Viewer discretion is advised. The neighbor spotted the toddler playing alone in roughly a foot of water. She went to the front door of the house and knocked. For 20 minutes, she kept knocking but received no response. This is when the neighbor decided to involve law enforcement. She pulled the child out of the pool, brought her to her house next door, and kept her occupied with toys on the porch while she waited for deputies to arrive. >> I just want to make sure a deputy comes. >> Good. And this is my husband. This baby is on the porch with the child and I'm not going to say it in front of her. But that little pool right there, she was in that by herself. I've asked her mother about We knocked on the door. The door was already open. I hollered for them. My husband hollered for them, and nobody has come out yet. >> Okay. >> So you know, she was in that pool by herself, but I We didn't want to see her drown. I know of friends that their children have drowned from them just >> Yeah. >> So that >> She didn't have like any like pool gear on her? >> No, she was totally by herself. Mom and them was asleep or something. >> Okay. >> I don't know what they're doing. >> Okay. All right. And this was how long ago? >> This has been 20 minutes. >> 20 minutes since then and no one has come to the door? >> and it takes >> Do my ears look okay? >> Our neighbors been out there, too, so you know. I We didn't want to call, but I I told David I said, "Look, she was in the pool with water in it." It takes a split second for a child to drown. >> Yeah. >> I said, "Because we did knock on her door, gave her an opportunity to come to the door, and then we yelled at them inside the door and nobody still came. I said to me that's a red flag, and we're obligated for that child to call." >> All right. >> Okay. >> Yeah, that's definitely true. Yeah. >> have left her with us or anything. >> I mean look how small Look how small they are. I mean they child can drown in 3 in of water. >> grandchildren and that just like >> Yeah. All right. >> Okay. >> Uh give me a second. I'm going to go >> Okay. >> The child's safe with you guys. The child's fine. Does the child show any symptoms or anything wrong or anything like that? >> Absolutely not. >> All right. >> What's that? >> How you doing? >> Good. Good, good, good. >> Have we met? >> No, I don't I don't believe we >> have one of those, do you? >> I don't know. >> Most Most of the Staley's boys have gotten them by now. We're with Broken Chains JC. We're a fellowship of bikers and motorcycle enthusiasts who found hope and healing through Jesus Christ and the 12-step recovery process. >> All right. >> to share with others that change is possible. You know Will Motosicki does the smart program at the jail? >> Oh, okay. Yeah. >> Yeah. Yeah, Will is Will and his wife are members. >> All right. Well, thank >> There's a lot of us. >> Yeah. And you said the child's been with you for 20 minutes? >> About 20 minutes. I saw her come out of the door by herself. The door was standing open and she went out and got in that pool. >> Yeah. Um >> And we went over and tried calling. Nobody answers. Tried calling the phone. Nobody answers. >> Do you Do you know if it's just one person inside right now? >> I believe there's two. >> Yeah. Okay. Cuz I I I know the male usually works or does like some sort of landscaping or something like that. >> Uh he is actually not allowed over there. >> Oh, it's a different guy? >> Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I don't I don't don't know this guy. >> Okay. Okay. >> Yeah, Austin, we we still share Bible verses in the morning. >> Yeah. All right. I'm going I'm going to wait till my partner gets here. He should be here in a second. >> Okay. >> So, before I go, I'll check on the house. >> You're welcome to have a seat here. >> Uh I'm just I'm glad the child's okay right now. >> Yeah. Yeah, she's she's happy. >> Yeah. >> They all like to come here. They call him >> He calls us Papa and Grandma. >> Yeah. >> All the kids in the neighborhood do. >> Yeah. Um the smallest dog I've ever seen in my life. >> a walking two-pound 16-year-old dog. He should be 10 to 12 lbs. He's two. >> [laughter] >> All right. Actually, since the door is open, I'm going to Yeah, just see. Did you guys Did you guys see any of them at all today? >> Uh >> We have been out most of the day. They are all right there. Just getting up. >> All right. Let me go Let me go talk to them. Yeah, she's probably with the neighbors. >> What's going on, man? So, uh What's going on today? >> Literally just fired. I said it's nothing too bad. I'm just trying to We literally just woke back up. Used to she was in the house, not able to turn the freaking knob, but apparently she just turned the knob and just >> Okay. Okay. Is uh Is uh Is mom in there as well? >> Yeah, she is in there. You want me to go get her? >> Yeah. Are you guys usually sleeping at this time? >> Yeah. I mean, we were doing it on the sofa. >> Yeah, I got you. >> When Flagler County deputies got to the residence, the child's mother, 25-year-old Cassidy, came out of the house. She appeared as though she had just woken up. Cassidy showed no signs of being under the influence of or alcohol. >> Uh So, so what's going on today? >> Oh, I literally I was just sleeping. >> Yeah. >> I thought I thought I told you. >> Did you guys Did you guys have like a long night? >> Yeah. >> It is It is 6:00. Um All right, so uh The neighbor over there she found her in this pool. It's a little baby pool. And uh she like opened your door and she said she was hollering for you guys. And as we're so Where does it Where's the child usually at? >> She's always in where do you guys sleep? >> Usually And your room's all over to the left and she's in the She's in the middle room? >> No, not in there. In the front. >> The front room? >> Yeah. >> How old is she? >> She just turned three. >> She just turned three? >> Yeah. >> Well, what's her name? How do you spell What's your last name? A M >> Yeah. >> What's her date of birth? Well, they said they've been, you know, she's been with them for 20 minutes. So, and they were just concerned for your guys' safety because she They opened the door and yelled at you guys for about 20 minutes and you guys weren't answering, so she was concerned if you guys were in. >> They opened the door? >> They said the door was open. >> Oh, yeah. >> Yeah. >> I don't understand. >> You know, you want one of those things that where you can turn it and they can't actually open it. My brother got one. >> It's just plastic knobs on door knobs. Do you guys have your licenses on you? Any chance? Do you mind going grab them? >> Uh >> Hey guys. So, is your door usually locked? Front door? >> Yeah, my my door stays locked, but I had an incident the other day and I literally just put the freaking camera because this happened. But like my door if somebody tried to break in and >> Yeah, we don't know who we trying to come over here, man. We just >> That's why I don't understand. Usually she can't open my door like that. >> You need to empty that and we're done. I'm not trying to be a but I had a 2-year-old die on me and that kind of hits toward me. It's home with me. And my wife has a 1-year I have a 1-year-old. That hits home with me. I understand you guys are sleeping. >> I literally just got home yesterday. >> but it could have been a lot worse. You're lucky your neighbors came outside. Because she walked outside and jumped in that pool. She hit her head. If she just dunked down, she would have been drowning. So. When we're done and we leave and all that, you need to dump that pool. Only fill it up when she when you're coming outside and you're like, "All right, let's go in the pool room." Fill it up. I know it sucks filling it up but I'd rather you fill it up. >> We just going to take it back cuz this is our first time actually We putting the pool up. >> I hope it doesn't blow up so I hope it doesn't blow up so >> Exactly. We just going to take it back. That was a one-time thing. >> But she usually my front door stays locked and we usually keep the screen door locked because she doesn't know how to unlock it and she's never >> Yeah, I don't think she knows how to unlock it cuz I don't unlock the screen door. You told me not to. I don't I don't know what's going on. >> She's never >> Is she in a swim diaper right now, too? Was she in it today? >> No, that's that's a pull-up. She goes to sleep in it. >> Okay. I got you. I got you. >> But this is this what I told him. She was napping with us and usually like when she gets up, she usually wakes me up. So for her even do like she's never done anything like this. And she doesn't have clothes on at all. >> Do you have clothes I can go get I I go bring it to her right now? Just we're just trying to figure everything out here first. I'll be right back. Yes, ma'am. Yeah, just not her pants because the diaper's probably wet. Um just a shirt and her shoes for right now. I can see your grandma. >> Yes. >> I can tell. >> We got 21 grandkids. >> Holy >> grand babies. >> I've got nine. >> Big and small. >> Oh my >> The oldest one of mine is uh graduates this year. >> Oh my goodness. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yeah, I just had a year >> from college. >> I just had a >> one just turned one. >> I have a year and a half. >> Oh, so yeah, well, that was I mean I >> Let's put your clothes >> having to call y'all. We went over there. >> No, I I I I I told him cuz I had a 2-year-old die on me in the pool. >> Yeah. >> And my wife was pregnant at the time. I got to hit home. So, I was like >> She could have died. >> Yeah, I >> I mean like she could have banged her head and drowned. >> Yeah. >> Or she could have dunked in and then just >> She came up by herself and she said, "Mommy's sleeping." But we knocked on the door and all that. >> So, that was >> She got her phone number. >> If we would have called out to her, they would have answered, but we yelled. And we knocked on the door. So, we did that and they didn't respond. You know, working with the the knowing of the facility. You know. >> Mhm. Okay. >> I can't. I can't. That's just I couldn't do it. I wouldn't do it. >> Yeah. >> I whether they'd be mad at me or not. How has this happened before? >> How has this happened before? >> No. No, this is >> They haven't been there that long. >> She She She has when we had the 4th of July party with her. >> Yeah. Well, she meant she >> She has come over here, but they just got that boat. >> But like her daughter has has come out of the house. So, that's that's the third time that we've known her being out by herself about >> Yeah, but we've already known like that. >> Okay. Yes, it was the third time. >> Okay. >> I didn't even think to ask that. >> All right. Okay, great. >> She calls him papa, you know. >> Okay, I got to write that down. >> I guess so. But it is it is >> Okay. I'm sorry. Yeah. How long has uh Is that for me? 10-4. Nice, ice cream. That's um How long is uh Is How long is this gentleman lived in here for? >> I don't know. >> Okay. Is this uh the girl's biological child? >> Not that I'm aware of. >> I don't know. I have no idea. >> I think it might be hers, but not his. >> Are we going to be arrested? >> What's up? >> Are we going to be arrested? >> I'm uh >> This is never This has never ever happened before. I >> No, okay. >> I don't know how in the world she has gotten out of the front door. >> Yeah, what time What time When you guys go to bed? And when was the last time you saw her? >> Well, we had taken a nap with her. That's why I don't understand like that >> Okay, she was sleeping with you guys? >> Usually she would wake me up. This is never ever happened before. Usually she wakes me up and lets me know, "Hey Mommy." Or you know, she'll let me know if she's hungry or if she You know, she's I'm a very alert mom. >> Okay. >> I'm a bad mom. >> I was How did This has never happened? >> No, this is >> She's never walked outside the house before or anything like that? >> The The only one time that she did was 4th of July cuz we were over at their house for Well, I have a another neighbor of the like a street over and we were at their party for 4th of July or anything. >> Okay. >> And we had stopped at their house for a little bit cuz we just cut through the corner of the backyard cuz it's like >> Okay. >> right over there and I had came home. We both had came home and I just changed both of our outfits cuz we were both in bathing suits and they didn't have a pool or anything and I just wanted to get her out of the bathing suit so I had The door was left open like this and she had just I mean, I had eyesight of her then and she ran over to the neighbor's house. >> Okay. >> So, that was You know, I watched her that time. But this time like this This has never happened. >> Yeah. >> Yeah, really. >> Do you Do you understand uh You know, I mean, she's 3-year-old child. That's like about a foot of water. A child can drown in 3 or 4 inches of water. You know what I'm saying? How dangerous that could be and uh All right. I got to ask you a few questions. >> Okay. >> Before I do I'm going to read you your rights. That doesn't mean you're in trouble. >> Are you arresting me? >> I have to come up to with that conclusion. I'm just going to read you your rights. Just a formality. >> I don't have anybody to shoot my kid. I can't Yeah, I've never been away from [laughter] her like that. I can't. Like this never happens. I Okay. >> But do you to we're going to work through that together. So, just try to get through the questioning and I promise you we'll handle that. I thought it was the garbage. You have the right to remain silent and anything you say may be used as evidence against you. You have the right to talk to an attorney and have him or her with you at now or at any time during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you. At any time you wish to stop talking or have an attorney present, all questioning will be stopped at your request. Do you understand these rights? With these rights in mind, are you willing to talk? Okay. At what time was the last time you saw your child? >> Um We went to sleep maybe I mean we we usually don't take late evening naps, but I I just hurt my neck the other day when I was putting up the cameras and fell off the ladder, so my neck's been hurting and I just >> Okay. >> She was in the bed with us and we just we were watching a movie and we just fell asleep, but um probably we fell asleep at least like like maybe right at 6:00. >> Okay. Okay, and and the child I'm sorry I forgot I got it. Respect the end of that and fell asleep. >> Yeah, she Yeah, she was literally laying on his chest. She That's why I don't understand. She's never came out of the door like this. She's never like this. >> Okay. >> I mean this is just a mess. I mean we just got this pool yesterday and I was going to take it down cuz when I went to put it up it the top of it doesn't fill up. And I I but I still let her play in it like earlier today before it started raining just to get some energy out and stuff cuz we don't really come outside like that because the bugs are so bad. >> Right. All right, so the pool the pool was filled all day today, right? You don't fill it today at all, it was filled yesterday. >> It No, it it was filled yesterday and then I brought her but I didn't drain it out yesterday because I was going to bring her back out to play in it today, but when I realized the thing wasn't the top part it wasn't blowing up. It doesn't hold sustainably like it would if it would blow up. So I I still let her play in it a little bit today. >> The deputies noted additional hazards inside the home that the child had been exposed to while left alone. The sheriff's office did not specify what those hazards were. >> And then we just brought her in the house. She played in it for maybe like 2 hours earlier like but I sat outside and watched her. I would never let her do that unsupervised cuz I I've seen things that can happen like that and that's why I just don't understand because she's never came out of the house like this without Like the one time that she ran over to the neighbor's house I had view of her and the >> Yeah. You You're mentioning that happened July 4th, right? >> Yes. >> Okay. Um When when you woke up Who woke up first? Was it him or you? And noticed that she wasn't in bed. >> Uh he did and I I literally woke up as he was walking outside to talk to you and whichever one of you was up here I just ran out the door when I saw >> Okay. Yeah. And and you woke up at what time? >> Uh it was like 6:30. >> Okay. >> I mean I around 6:30 when I saw that you when I woke up and saw that you guys were that whichever one of you were here was out here and he was walking out to the end of the driveway. >> Okay. >> But I This never happens. >> Okay. >> Never happens. >> And it Are you the biological mother? >> Yes. >> Okay. >> Yes. >> Who is he to >> Uh he's he's my boyfriend. Uh but Dad isn't >> He's the father. >> Yeah. Yeah, no. >> Okay. He's your boyfriend. Is he Is he to you like a caretaker as well? >> Uh what What do you mean as in like >> Like is he a caretaker like if you were if if you leave the house, does he watch her >> No, no, no. I don't I didn't I I don't leave my daughter with anybody. No. >> Okay. Okay. All right. Um Has she ever been You say that pool is recent recently new? >> Yeah, I I literally just bought it yesterday. >> Okay. Okay. And you say she has she has not done this but besides on July 4th? >> Yeah, she's never done this besides on July 4th. But when it when it happened on July 4th, I have a carpet right at my front door and it's not easy It's not easy to pull the door open. >> Okay. >> Um but but s- somebody had I wasn't I don't even know, but somebody had tried to break into the house and they're like the door jam is is broken and that's the only reason I'm thinking that she might have been able to open the door. >> Okay. >> But I >> Okay. >> Like this has never happened. >> Is Is that door Is that door locked ever? >> Yeah, I I keep it locked, but I've just telling him I I'll just have to get with the little handle thing that goes on the door knob and then I'm still going to get a chain to go on the top of it to lock it from the inside cuz this Like I said, this is this is not happened. I don't know if it's just because we got the pool and she wanted to come outside and play in it, but that's not like >> Okay. >> This has never happened. [laughter] I don't like her getting on my view like that. >> Yeah. >> [snorts] >> All right. And is the door like traditional like twist knob to open it or is it just like a simple pull or anything like that? >> No, you you got to twist it to open it, but the I usually lock the screen door, too, cuz she doesn't know how to lock it and I don't know how that happened. >> So she's she's Are the door handles low? She within arms reach of the door handle? Have you ever seen her reaching for it beforehand? >> No, she doesn't She doesn't She doesn't do this. She doesn't open the doors in my house. And usually when we take a nap and she wakes up, she'll she'll wake me up. But I I don't know. It's just my >> Okay. >> I don't ever let this happen. This has never happened before. I cannot lose my child. Oh my god. >> Well, we're we're not in the business of preventing a mother from being with her child. We don't make those decisions. But since a juvenile is involved, we have to contact DCF. >> No, I can't >> And they will do their investigation as well. >> I can't I can't >> will reach out to you. They will talk to her. You know, >> [snorts] >> they will talk to him. They will talk to a anyone involved. >> I can't be away from her for too long. >> Okay. >> Key. I've never left his side since she's a baby. I can't. He's >> Okay. And you said that she usually wakes you up when she wakes up. >> If if I'm still asleep, yeah. But this rarely happens. I just My neck's been hurting. I literally just put this camera the camera up the other day and I fell off of the ladder and I and [snorts] broke my neck back in 2022 in a car accident in Indiana. And it just kind of like I don't It was hurting so so bad. And she She said something about Mommy, I want to take a night night. So she crawled up in the bed and we fell asleep. It's just I said it was normal like any other time. And like none of this ever happened. I don't even know why she came out of the door like that. It's not her fault. I should have Nothing like this ever happened. >> Well, I mean, she's all right. You're all right. So everyone here is all right. Okay. >> But this is not okay. You know, so >> I understand, but everyone's safe right now. So, just take a deep breath. Take a deep breath. Um Do you Do you have any questions for me? Cuz I'm going to talk I'm going to talk to him. >> I just don't want to be away from my daughter like that. I don't Like this never happened. If I get arrested, I don't have any money to keep her, and I don't I'm sorry, but I don't trust any man to keep my daughter like that. I don't care. >> Okay. Okay. >> You don't leave her with anybody >> [laughter] >> unless she goes to daycare. She's always with me. I've never been away from her. >> Okay. All right. Do you mind you grabbing her for me so I can talk to him? I did. She said she She said no. Okay. They're gone. You want to talk to him? Okay. Cuz I'm going to I'm going to do the same as I did with her. I This is just a formality. You're not You're not in any trouble. I'm going to read you your rights, all right? Um as you can tell, no one's in handcuffs. Just something we have to do. It's court of law, and >> Oh, yeah, I know, cuz somebody else actually didn't do that from your team that and that's how all my charges got dropped. >> All right. Well, I'm Deputy Coma. My inquiry here is just figuring out what happened with them and how she got away. Um these are your rights. You have the right to remain silent, and anything you say may be used as evidence against you. You have the right to talk to an attorney and have him or her with you now or anytime during questioning. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed to represent you. If at any time you wish to stop talking or have an attorney present, all questioning will be stopped at your request. Do you understand these rights? With these rights in mind, are you willing to talk to me? All right. All right. Who Who are you in terms of a family picture? Are you dating Cassidy? >> Yeah, that's >> Okay. Okay. Um do you Does Cassidy ever leave with you alone? Are you Are you a caregiver at at all and by any means? >> Only if she has to do something like say like something outside of >> Okay. >> Something >> Okay. She doesn't Does she get >> Not much. Does she like to go? She really can't. >> Okay. All right. So you you know And how long have you been with Cassidy? >> 2 months. >> 2 months? Okay. So you don't really consider yourself a caregiver caregiver at all. >> I'm not going to say I don't care. >> Yeah, yeah, no, no, no, I'm not saying you don't care. I'm just saying in terms of like >> guardianship. >> Guardianship. >> Oh, I'm I mean I guess not. >> Okay. I don't know. Um so what time did you guys fall asleep? >> Um >> And were all you guys in the same room? >> Literally in the same room. What time it is? Um I'd say about 5:00 maybe. Like around 5:00 or 4:00 maybe. I'm not sure, but we literally just fell asleep and just >> And what happened before you guys fell asleep? Were you guys doing something, watching something? >> Yeah, we were. We were watching something. She was with us. Like she was laying down with us like going to sleep with us. >> In in the in the >> room. >> In the in your the bedroom is the far left of the house? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Um Did at any point you hear or anything as was getting up and out of the bed? >> No, she usually would shake us or just say something, but she didn't say nothing. The only because of that thing. That's it. Like >> Yeah. >> That's literally it. Like >> Yeah. And when when was that purchased? >> Yesterday. >> Yesterday? All right, cool. Um what time did you guys wake up and realize wasn't in the room with you guys? >> So, about 30 minutes ago was So >> Okay. And you immediately >> Yeah. All right. >> Did you look around the house and >> I knew she wasn't going to be in the house cuz I didn't hear nothing. It was too quiet. So, I just went straight out the door. >> Okay. And that's when I you saw me walking over to you and I saw you walking around you're obviously looking you're obviously um you're obviously, you know, just waking up. Just looking for um Did you and her wake up at the same time? >> I woke up and I'm pretty sure she heard me getting up and stuff and then that's when she woke up and came outside. >> Okay. Uh since you've been living in this household has ever done this before? >> She done it one time. Like literally one time. So, like but we was here. But she just like went over there again. She She knows that spot apparently. Like she just goes over there a lot. So we just she just like this is like I say the first time that we wasn't unaware, but she did she did do this before. We just didn't expect it to go this far. >> Okay. Listen, um and that last time I think we talked about it earlier, that was July 4th? July 4th party? She just like literally like ran out out the gate and ran over there. So, okay. All right, then. Um do you have any questions for me? >> Uh that's That's Well, actually I do got one. What's going to happen to her? >> I don't know. That We're trying to figure it We're trying to figure that out. Uh obviously we don't we don't have the we don't have the power to do so. Obviously since since she's a minor, she's taller, we're going to have to contact DCF. And DCF does their own thing as well. They do their own investigation. They talk to everyone involved. They may talk to you. They'll talk to her. >> Oh, that's wrong, man. I mean I was >> Yeah, they're They're a lot more, you know, qualified in terms of deciding where a child should be placed or goes or stays. >> Mhm. >> Um They can't do anything on the criminal side of things. >> Oh, see, I'm not a criminal. >> No, no, no, that's >> I'm not a criminal. See, I was really driving with all the li- uh not a license, um driving while license suspended. So, and then I got all that figured out, though. But I got all that dropped >> Yeah. I I can tell your license is is is valid. >> Yeah. >> So, um I I wasn't accusing. I was just saying like in terms of making arrests or placing arrests or, you know, deciding between placements, that's that's our business. They do basically child placement, child plans, either like uh parental plans as well. >> Dude. >> Other than that, I don't know. Uh if Do you have any more questions for me or >> Well, no. All right. >> Yeah. Well, Well, you're good. >> Neighbors. >> Excuse me. Sorry, I know you're on the phone. You got a lot going on. What How do you spell your daughter's name? Does she have a middle initial? >> Uh I found this on the web. >> They or he? >> They. >> Last name? Date of birth? >> And the freaking um I guess she was outside and the the neighbors I guess called the cops because she was playing with the little pool thing you got earlier and that freaking popped and I told her I was going to take that. I didn't empty it earlier. And we just came and carted after she was done playing cuz this after she was done playing cuz it started raining and then she told me that she wanted to eat the freaking ramen later on and she ate ramen. So we just waited and she took to go to sleep for a little bit I guess she opened the door and ran outside I don't know, bro. This is what happened but she's never Well, wait. They ran in my room but I don't know Bro, I don't I don't have anywhere for her to go if I can't, bro. I've never been away from her in my life. I can't find her. I guess this is our theory of what happened and I guess she's trying to figure out what I don't know. But I'm not even lying, bro. I don't know what to do. Yeah, but it's the point of it's the point of it could have been it could have been worse than that but Bro, this actually messed up her swimming and now it's nowhere Yeah, because she got stuck in the shower by herself and then I don't know how they just got them off. It's Yeah, but it's it's still holding water. It's the top part of it that's not But she's never freaking like I don't know how she opened my door it. I can't really go out. Like 30 minutes? Yeah. Bro, this has been the worst really bad. Not good. We'll just come over here and see your dad's house. You never want to go freaking swimming or like This is never freaking She's freaking out. I just started cuz she always wants to play outside. She gets bored after a while cuz I don't have a lot of toys. That's the only reason I bought the pool. I said she's always >> Got it. >> You know how she is. She just always wants >> Oh, no. I'm good. Thank you. I appreciate it. My cooler is still full. We're just starting. Yeah. Thank you. You home? I'll be there. >> Does she have Does she have to stay over there? >> Just for right now while we're talking. >> No. >> That's why I got clothes just so she didn't >> to explain it to >> Yes. We're not trying to keep her away. It's just we're talking. I've seen you I've seen you before. Not a bad thing, not a bad thing. >> Oh, I know. You were pretty sure wait Jay Zyler. >> Yeah. >> Um Jonathan, right? >> Yeah. >> You arrested me. >> Did I? >> Yeah. >> Was it here? >> No. No, no, no, no. You probably arrested her ex or something. No, you don't remember that thing, do you? It was on the watch. >> It was on the what? >> It was on like big wheels. >> big wheels >> When did I arrest you? >> Imagine how many people get stopped at a traffic >> Okay. >> No, but he looks he looks familiar. That's why I was like I've seen you somewhere not good or bad. I would just seen you and I'm like you look familiar. >> Well, y'all did pull me over on Jonathan Road. Wait, no. Wait a >> Uh John Campbell? >> John Campbell, yeah. It was and then I was >> Was it for driving a wild license suspended? >> Yep. And then I got all that figured out. >> on your way here? >> Oh, no. I was on my way here last night. >> No, no, no, no. When I arrested you, weren't you on your way here? >> Yes. Yes. Yes, I was like living miles away from you. I'm like, bro, are you serious? I'm like >> [laughter] >> But and you know how Well, I actually I technically didn't have court. They dropped it. Like >> They did? >> Yeah. >> I thought they would. I was going to cuz someone someone pulled you over originally and they were like Do you want to take this? And I was like, let's just do an NTA, which is just a notice to appear cuz they're probably going to drop it. And he's like, well, his license is suspended. I was like All right. My bad. >> Yeah, oh no. >> want to drop them. >> Hey, good It's a good thing y'all actually did tell that cuz I probably would have still been doing it and I didn't even realize it, but I'm glad y'all actually did it. I mean, I got it figured out. I got everything figured out and all, so I mean, I appreciate it. >> I got you, man. I'm not trying to be that guy. I don't want you to hate me, but >> Oh, no. Y'all just doing y'all thing. >> I knew you looked cuz I got walked up on and I was like cuz I've been here before and I'm like I don't think that's the same guy and I'm like but I've seen him before and I don't know if I've like talked to him or what. >> Yeah, but the other partner though, he was definitely he was definitely being that guy. I don't know why. Like >> Yeah, I tried to be nice as best as best I could. I was like, >> one that was nice, man. Like >> I think you were on the phone with her. >> Yeah, I You were on the phone with her. I talked to you on the phone. >> Yeah, cuz he was >> And you were like, I'll be sure you have to pay him, and I was like, >> You was actually holding my phone while I was trying to talk to him. >> Yeah. >> [laughter] >> Yeah. >> It would never happen. >> Well, what's what's going on? Why are you trying to like >> Because this worries me. Like >> I understand. I understand. >> You know me. I don't want them going out like you. >> I understand. >> There's no one's no one's perfect, and like I said, like I wasn't trying to scare you, but like it hit home for me. Cuz I had a 2-year-old die on me, and it's not the >> Well, I've I've already I I lost my son in 2022. Wasn't anything related to this. Like that's why I called over so much is just because I've already lost a kid. I don't want to lose another one. >> All we got to do is sit back and >> I know that all I want to do right now is so much trying to >> I'm I'm I'm Same. Come on. >> This This never happens earlier. >> Yes, sir. [snorts] >> Um was that gate Is that gate always open? >> Yeah, usually I shut it, but like the the last week I don't know. I just kind of just whatever cuz I I don't have the key to the lock, so it doesn't lock, and it usually usually it is shut, but like the last week, honestly, I would just >> Okay. >> I just get tired of walking out to the mailbox, opening it, going to the mailbox, turning around, and closing it, and >> And >> usually it is closed, though. >> Okay. And in terms of the door so that someone may have attempted to break in? >> Yeah, that's why I just went ahead and put this camera outside. He was fine with me last time he >> And when was this? >> Um I put the camera up um >> When was the the attempted break-in? >> It um I honestly have no idea. Like >> Like yesterday, a week ago? >> It's the door's only been like that for like two or three days. >> Okay. >> Like usually I have I have a pretty thick rug behind my door in my living room and you can't like you literally have to like I have to like use full body force to push it back and that's why she's never been able to open the door, but >> Okay. And the and the sliding door you say locks? >> The the screen door does lock. There's a thing on it you flip up and down, but she's like she's never she's never tried to open the door or anything. That's why this is like she's she's a really really good kid. She's she listens very well. She's very good child. Like she never like she never tries to open the door and if you were to see her try to open it if you tell her no, she'll like okay mommy or you know something like that, but she's never been able to open that front door. >> Like it doesn't close or it just doesn't lock? >> It locks. It just like I guess she have the knowledge like really knowledge to really turn it and just open it. Like but we can actually did keep that thing locked. >> Is the door handle the same on the inside as it is on the outside or is it one of those like flip ones? Same thing. Cuz my my 1-year-old if if it's doors like that she struggles. She'll grab it, but she can't twist it. But the ones that go down she can open them. >> Yeah. >> And she just like opens it easy, but those she has hard time cuz it's twisting it. >> I was thinking about getting those plastic things where you can actually put plastic things on them. >> Oh yeah, the child ones? >> Yeah, and then they just won't be able to like >> They're even hard for the parents to open the door. Okay. >> So since that happened the other day, it's it's the door is like loose and jagged and you can kind of it's it's just [music] a lot easier >> So was the door locked when she was walked out? Do you remember locking it today at all? >> Yeah, the door the door was locked. I don't I honestly I'm not I'm not going to say I don't remember if the deadbolt part was locked or not, but I do remember asking him to lock the screen door and he said that he did and that's the like I always make sure the door is locked before we go to bed or if we're home alone and nobody else is here or anything like that. So But that I I don't know. I I do remember the actual doorknob itself being locked, but not the deadbolt itself. I can't say that it was. >> All right. We baby proofed the the chemical cabinet cuz she always opens it. And I'm like sitting there and like I open it halfway and like I just grab what I can. Like this is how it's staying. I was like, "Hey, she can't open it. I can't open it. Whatever." And now she's at that that age where she runs around everywhere and she just falls on her face and corners are all like baby proofed and I'm like she's slamming into things. Um I think I've concluded everything here. >> Did you say that again? >> Can you turn around for me and put your hands behind your back? >> Can I call somebody to get my daughter, please? >> We'll we'll work that out. >> Give us 1 second, okay? We'll let you take a make a phone call, okay? Just give us 1 second. >> I'll hold your phone. >> What about What about me? I didn't even get to hug them. >> Child, good job. I don't want the kids seeing you in handcuffs, okay? I know you want to say I Listen, get you want to see your kid 100%? I would too, but I don't want her to see you in handcuffs, okay? >> Is there you you can't walk me over there and just >> I've got three top flagmen. Once it's tough it's up to him. I'm I'm just holding him in. >> What's the top flagman? 150? >> You have shoes, sandals? >> Yeah. >> Okay. Hey. >> Typically they're at what time? >> Can Sorry, can you just get her sandals real quick? >> Is there Is there Is there any way you guys could walk me to the neighbors and just take me out of the cuffs so I can hug my daughter? >> Unfortunately for the best of your daughter, I don't think it'll be right for her to see her mom in handcuffs. >> Oh my god. >> So, in terms of her placement >> been away from me and like this. >> In In terms of terms of her placement, we're going to have immediate response from DCF to see what we could possibly do. Um or what do you think is the best option for your daughter? Do you think your daughter should stay here? Do you think your daughter should stay here with him? Over there with the neighbors? They said they have 22 grandchildren. I'm not going to vouching for them or anything like that. But what do you think is the best? >> For her. It's so frustrating. I was trying to call my sister and my brother and see if they're going to answer. >> Okay. We can We can definitely make that phone call happen. Uh do they live far? >> Uh my my sister lives in Julane. My brother lives lives in Palatka. >> Okay. >> Um >> I'll call both of them. >> Okay. Do you mind uh Do you mind giving uh my supervisor here those numbers? >> Which one would you prefer? >> I have two. No. >> Mainly all you need is this. I mean, if he's going to bail you out, I don't have to keep him in the cuffs. >> Yeah. >> You know all this stuff. You got their phone number saved like in your head? >> No. >> You remember? >> No. Can you give them out here? >> I got I got it. I got it. >> What can I give them? >> Do you have anything in your >> There's a um there's a nick in between my boobs. I'm sorry. >> Uh >> I can have him grab it if it's more comfortable for you. It's It's just a nicotine. >> Yeah, well, if any sort of like any any sort of like vape or cigarettes will get thrown out of the jail. So, if you're comfortable with him grabbing it >> Mhm. >> You have her grab it so she can just smoke it out here. >> No, it's in my boobs. It's it's right here. >> Really? >> But I told you that. >> All right. Um you can just walk with us over to the car. >> I have a verdict. Is it because the gate was left open? Besides the pool? Or the door wasn't locked? Then >> We're going to walk on this side. >> It's the last night I ever >> Where are we? >> Right here in the back. >> That fine? >> Yeah, I don't want to do it. Uh did you take down his number, do you know? >> Yeah, yeah. >> I'm going to turn your phone off cuz you're at 36%. I don't want it to die in jail when you're walking in. >> All right. >> Okay. >> You can put it in my back, come on. >> All right, I'm going to have a 111 by the track. >> Watch your head. I'm going to have to secure you, all right? In the seat. >> Thank you for your report. You know any way you were able to maybe put my handcuffs in the front, maybe? >> I won't. >> I'm sorry, but that can't happen. It's just for policy. We're trying to figure that out right now. >> Cassidy would be arrested and charged with child without great bodily harm, a felony under Florida law. She was transported to the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility. Jail records show this wasn't Cassidy's first arrest. Nearly 6 years earlier, in November 2018, she had been booked on misdemeanor charges of domestic battery and dating violence. Both ended in conditional release. The Department of Children and Families was notified and the child was released into the care of a family member who responded to the scene. Cassidy was held without bond and released the following morning pending trial. This concludes the report from our investigation division at Twin Scope Cops. All individuals involved remain presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. Thank you for supporting verified and responsible case analysis.
