Hi, I'm firefighter Jason Wallace. Welcome to What's on the Truck Tuesday. Today we're going to go over the Stokes basket. So, what we use the Stokes basket for is technical rescues, any place that the rescue or the stretcher can't go, dive calls, and any high angle or high rescue where a patient is stuck up on like a roof. The weight limit for the Stokes basket is approximately 2500 lb. During technical rescue operations, we lift the Stokes basket with our ladder truck using tag lines, carabiners, and straps. So, while using the Stokes basket to transport the patient, what we do is we use these straps to secure them. And basically how it works is blue goes to the blue clips, red goes to the red clips, and you strap them in. So all of the engine and ladder companies carry the Stokes basket on our apparatuses.
