on April 11th 2022 officers responded to a reported shoplifting incident at an Ulta store the report indicated that two teenagers had allegedly grabbed several perfume bottles and exited the store without paying for the items this prompted the store staff to immediately alert law enforcement seeking intervention to address the ongoing situation you guys are harassing me I know my you guys are harassing me upon arriving at the scene an officer off entered the store to gather all necessary information about the incident inside the store the officer met with an employee who detailed the events leading up to the shoplifting the employee described how the teenagers were observed taking the perfume bottles and walking out of the store called about the shop yeah was anything actually taken yes okay per fumes there's manager hello hi I have other officers kind of look in the area right now while I um kind of figure out what happened here oh yeah they they just she just came in and she was looking around customer service for a while and then she walked out with a bunch of PR in her hand um she meet up with friend that she was locking out they went to TJ Maxx I don't know if they're still there did they go inside or yeah I did see them go inside and I did call TJ Maxx let them know as well I like hey the people that just stole for me just walk in to your store um how well maybe like 5 minutes AG not that long people less than 15 minutes yeah less than 15 minutes manager here said that our suspects walked into TJ about 5 minutes ago yeah um one is wearing I already gray sweater blue dark blue SS and then a dark blue bucket hat the other ones blonde hair so wait the first one is uh gray gray sweater dark blue what and then a dark blue bucket hat and she has a tattoo underneath her eye of a crown so they're two different um well the the second person this is the one that St from us the second one is the one that she met up with so like this thorough account included specific details vital to guiding the next steps of the investigation the employees information allowed the officer to understand the gravity of the situation and identify the individual suspected of being involved as she walked out she met up with another person okay yeah hello welcome in and one more and then person she met up with is the blonde hair yes just for information the suspect met up with another female who has blonde hair blue Jing backpack and then a blue backpack and okay and about how many how much in fragrances um I know she stole like I'm not sure dollar or not but I know she stole about like six six okay yeah like is there uh usually it's around like 30 around like the ones that she sld them think 30 so like close to 200 300 200 300 yeah cuz we were able to like get a few away from her while she were customer serviceing so she end up walking okay and then if we if we find them want to charg works okay and then um do you have an incident number by oh yeah I can give you a case number here and then anybody assaulted anybody pushed anything like that like I got her inside TJ Maxx I think my partner found her would you be able to recognize her yeah the officer then approached one of the females suspected of participating in the shoplifting this encounter quickly became tense as the teenager began arguing with the officer she EXP Express frustration over being questioned and repeatedly asked why she was being [Music] investigated I'll wait for 24 before making contact hi Police Department hey you hi police how are you I'm good good okay you're being detained right now I'm not doing for theft nope you're being detained for theft from Ulta I'm not doing anything relax relax I'm not doing nothing put your hand bring it back no I'm not doing nothing no this is bro you're n this is n you're this is illegal dog I'm not doing anything no you're you're harassing me I'm not doing nothing put your hands right back okay um no you can ask the guard was I doing anything wrong no bro you're harassing me you're harassing me stop no you're harassing me stop the officer remained professional and explained the situation to the suspect allowing her to cooperate however she refused to provide any information about the incident which hindered the officer's ability to resolve the matter on site stop you're harassing me no you're recognizing the need to address her lack of cooperation the officer decided to take her into custody when the officer attempted to arrest her she began resisting escalating the already tense situation her resistance was both verbal and physical as she yelled loudly and acted in a manner that Drew further attention to the scene you got her okay no do you have her okay get a good grip on her [Music] alive your look straight ahead my a key my SE please do nothing this disruptive behavior necessitated the officer's use of assertive measures to complete the arrest the officer successfully restrained the female and escorted her out of the store she was then placed inside the patrol vehicle to prevent further disturbance and ensure the safety of others at the scene you guys harassing me you're do it out here but then well it's I think too big around the suspect secured in the vehicle the officer returned to the store to obtain further clarification from the employee regarding the identity of the individual arrested we have a subject detained your theft is there someone that can ID her yeah um okay I can go you go with me okay the employee confirmed that the teenager in custody was one of the individuals involved in the shoplifting incident this confirmation validated the officer's actions and provided additional evidence for the case the officer documented all relevant details creating a comprehensive incident record to support subsequent legal proceedings so she's detained in in handcuffs um just because she's in handcuffs doesn't mean that she's a person that did it it's just as important to eliminate people uh that are inocent as it is to ID people for us so I'm going to have a seat back here in my car we'll drive over there after completing the preliminary investigation at the store the officer transported the teenager to the the police station for further questioning this step was essential to gaining a deeper understanding of her involvement in the incident and establishing the full context of what had occurred if you don't care about getting out and looking at her can or to pull up next to her in the police guards you she has a very distinctive tattoo yeah and I think know who it is okay so I think she gave the fragrances to the other person um I didn't get a chance to look for her because she was so uncooperative but may go in there in a minute look for her she doesn't have the fragrances on her can you roll down your window can you roll down your window is that her okay expain we have a positive ID from the Ulta clerk ID all right I'm going your rights okay so you have the right to remain remain silent anything you say Canon will be used against you in a court of law do you understand each of these rights I explained to you okay having those rights in mind do you want to talk to me about anything that happened today a manager said that you walked out at of Alta holding merchandise perfume about $300 worth I didn't do I met with someone I have nothing well then who's the chick who was with you I I was not with nobody yeah you were no I wasn't what you think that we just walked into TJ Maxx just because we were told that you wanted in there that's why we even went in there they saw you yeah that's why of all these I don't out of all these stores we could have at the station officers conducted a more thorough investigation Gathering statements and reviewing the evidence provided by the store employee you guys areally okay all right do you want to talk to me about anything that happened today because physically and verbally harassing some about a chip tooth she said said can I take a look which one oh would that happen today yes it did right now yes when did that happen when you thre me on the floor outside outside yes okay all right um I me to get a photo of that just remind you are being recorded okay can you take a look at me open your mouth there you go do you need any medical attention for that no I don't okay are you sure that happened today yes I did okay cuz I when you kind of went down you landed on top of the officer so I wanted to okay all right I'll take a look at the video and verify that any other injuries from today no okay so here's what's going to happen uh because you're a juvenile juvenile detention won't take you otherwise you would be going to jail you're an adult in a few months you'll be going to jail for something like this um so we're going to releas you at the trans center I don't want to see you around fed away the rest of the day it's time to hop on a bus and go home okay if we get any more calls about you then we're going to have to take some further action that doesn't involve you going home okay that clear cuz I don't want to keep getting calls and stuff like that I spoke to Grandma she doesn't want to come get you so you're going to go to the trans center she says that you've been nothing but trouble lately following the inves ation the case was brought before the court where the teenager faced formal charges she was charged with theft for unlawfully taking the bottles of perfume from the store disorderly conduct for her
