On September 17th, 2023, an officer with Florida Fish and Wildlife was on patrol when he conducted a resource inspection after 53-year-old Larry was observed with an alligator. How's it going, guys? Like he wasn't in your boat? No, he was in my boat, but then he jumped in another boat and took off another guy. All right. It looks like it's been tampered with, so it's not going to shut back no matter what. Okay. All right. So, you got a couple violations. Um, instead of taking you to jail, I'm going just write you some tickets. Okay. But it is a nose to appear. So, you got to actually they'll contact you with a uh with a date to come and talk to the judge. All right. Cuz there's a couple things going on with it. So, you ain't guilty of nothing. This is just roadside. You know, everybody gets their date. So, this is the court copy right here. Let me get you a pen. So, the charge is you're in possession of a an alligator. Okay. You're not allowed to be in possession of one without your transfer paperwork or with you the tag holder with you. Okay. Um, this one right here is you got to immediately kill a gator when you capture it. Gator still alive. And then this one is Oh, excuse me. That's that one. This one is that the tag should be locked through uh the skin of the carcass immediately once you kill it. And this one is that you got to actually kill it once you once you possess it or let it go when you're legally allowed to it's all fine. Oh, no. No, there's no fines. It cost you no money. Um this date, they're going to call you and give you a date. Which one is this one? The court copy. I need a good phone number for you cuz they're going to call you and mail you. Um so they'll call you. This is your copy right here. So I need you to sign this one. It's not stating that you're guilty. just that you receive the citation and understand that they're going to be contacting you to set up a court date. All right. You're good. You're clear. Go ahead. You're clear. Go. Larry was initially charged with alligator poaching, a thirdderee felony. He was also charged with two misdemeanors, possession of an alligator without a permit and failure to exhibit an alligator license. Over seven months later, he signed a plea deal and was adjudicated guilty on the misdemeanor failure to exhibit an alligator license charge. The state did not pursue the other charges.
