On June 22nd, 2024, an officer with Alaska Fishing Game was on patrol when he made contact with two individuals fishing alongside the Buskin River. Think I just saw one jump. Was that Was that a fish out there? Did you see that? Oh man. No worries. Hey guys, my name's Derek. I'm with the Wildlife Troopers. I'm just checking fishing licenses. Oh, yeah. Any luck today or just getting started? Just getting started. No, I don't I haven't heard of anybody catching anything down there. That's perfect. Thank you, sir. Thanks. Do you have a 2024 one? This one's 2023. No. Okay. Do you um So, maybe you're not aware, but do you know that? So, you got to buy it. Wait. I think I have Okay. Other ones on Okay. Yeah, cuz it renews at the beginning of the year. So, I saw I see you got this one in August. Yours was good. I remember. Yeah. But, uh, you got to buy one for each year. Is there a way I could look online? Yeah, it should, if you, um, depends. Um, if you had to email it to you, it might it should show up in your email. Um, other than that, you might be able to log into your fishing game account and look at it that way. Worst case scenario, um, if you think you have one, I can, uh, the worst case is it'll be a correctable citation, which means that you'll have like 30 days to come up to the wildlife shaper post and just show me you had a license at the time I talked to you. And that this that citation will be thrown out. So, as long as you had one at the time that you were fishing, that's all. Does that make sense? Yes. Wait, where do I go? Um, so it's kind of it's kind of diff um because it depends on how you bought it. Did you buy this through um online or did you buy this from a store? Did you go to Walmart? I need mine the same time as it was last. Okay. Tell you what, um I'll grab a phone number from you, okay? And when I have an opportunity, which won't be today, but tomorrow I will try to find your license online. As long as you have it, you won't hear from me. Um, if you don't have it, then I'll give you a call. Okay. Um, just make sure in the future you're carrying your 2024, right? So, I'm just going to make sure I have your information. Do you have a driver's license with you? Um, it's not on me. Okay. Is this information? Is that your address? Okay. Yeah, I'll be able to look up your your stuff on my on through like my databases. Um, but that won't replace the need for you to have your license with you. If someone else were to come down, they'd probably give you the same hard time I'm giving you. I don't want you to be bothered really fishing that much. Um, so yeah, once you once you're able to find it, just uh print it out. Otherwise, if you don't have one, now would be the time to just tell me. Um, cuz I'll find out anyway. But I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt. Don't remember. Okay. If you don't have it, just understand that there will be there will be a citation for it. But it's it's going to be called a strict liability thing, which just meant that you weren't intentionally breaking the law, but you're required to make sure you're calling it when you come out here and fish. Okay. Uh do you have any questions for me? Um no. Okay. Well, you know what? Just to give you the peace of mind once I find out, I'll give you a call anyway just to let you know if I found it or didn't find it. That way, you're not staying up at night waiting for a phone call from the troopers. Okay. Um anyway, other than that, guys, enjoy fishing and uh yeah, be safe out here. In the end, Nicole received a citation for sport fishing without a sport fishing license, a $220 fine. If you like this video and want to see more like it, subscribe to Arrest Cam.
