And today he could have you or your child. Today you guys dodged a huge bullet. Literally a a van. There's a bunch of clothes with tags on them still. There's no bags. There's no receipt. Your daughter said you guys just got got back from Kohl's. What's What's up with that? She said, "I'll give you if you give me $500 right now, you can have." I said, "Have what?" She said, "Have her." She put her down in the leaves. A police officer's duty is to serve and protect. And there are even instances when they have to protect children from their own parents. In the following cases, the small saving grace is when smart kids help cops arrest their criminal parents. Stop yelling. I don't give a stop yelling. I don't know anything. Okay, mayor. If you keep yelling, you're going to jail. On April 28th, 2024, officers responded to a residence following a call from a teenage boy after he claimed that his mother's boyfriend assaulted him during an argument. Well, we got to sell. Not yet. Huh? Where's Where's your husband at? I don't husband. Who you arguing with? I don't know. We got a call that there was a lot of screaming, yelling, and fighting. Which one is Christopher? He's got him. My son Christopher, come talk to me, man. He don't got no I said no. No. No. I said no. I said no. 58. You can open the channel. I said no. I said no. I'm the mom. You know, you can't stop me from talking. He's not a teenager. No. Matt. No. No. I'll talk to you guys. I got no Christopher called and I want to talk to you. Come talk to me. All right. Go ahead. Where did this thing happen at? I know. How did you get that? How did you get that mark on your face? Huh? No. Excuse me. Okay. When did that happen? Like 2 hours ago. Okay. Come around and talk to me. The woman continued to argue with officers, telling them that they had no right to talk to her son Christopher as he was a minor. Unfortunately for her, that's not how things work. Unless she wanted to find herself in cuffs, she needed to step outside and let the officers do their job. All right. What's What's going on, man? All right. So, I don't know where he went, but his hands on my mom and I got kind of pissed off and I could tell that he was he was being a little bit too. If you come out here, you're going to get arrested. Stop, dude. I'm talking. Okay. You can't stop. You can't stop. I know my rights. No, you don't know your rights. You don't know your rights. You don't know your rights. If he wants to speak to him, he can't. Okay. Not J. Yeah. All right. So, tell me, what happened? All right. So, he was putting her hands on my mom and I was trying to get him to chill out, but he Come here. Come on. Come on. I was trying to get him to stop. Okay. I was trying to get him a stop, but he would not stop. He was like, they're arguing back and forth. My mom tried to stop. My mom tried to stop him. And you could if you were to catch him somewhere, he's wearing I don't I forgot what he's wearing. Okay. Are they married? No. Do they have any kids or anything like that together? No. Okay. Does he live here or anything like that? Um technically he kind of Yeah, technically he does. What do you mean? He wasn't on a race. [Music] Don't do that. Calm down. They're going to They're going to arrest you. Calm down. The woman should have listened to her son and gone inside. But instead, she let her emotions get the best of her. And if you thought she was acting terribly before, she only got worse. First of all, you can't put my hands off me. Please. I'm telling you. So, he's not on the le Why why do you have this here? My siblings. What? You guys playing or something? Yeah. They beat me a hard, huh? They beat me like really hard. How old is your siblings? [Music] Five. I did. Stop yelling. I don't give a [ __ ] what you said. Stop yelling because I don't know anything. If you keep yelling, you're going to jail. I don't give a out of here. You don't know. I know my right. Yes. Okay. Okay. So, you guys were playing or something? Yeah. Okay. So, what what who broke the window here? I did. Hey, put it Hey, hey, hey, come down. Put it in cuffs. Put her in cuffs. Put her in cuffs. Hook her up. Even though one officer ordered the other to place the outofc control mother in cuffs, she was still given several chances to sit down and be quiet without restraints. But unfortunately for her and her children, she couldn't stop interfering with the officer's investigation. Hey, have a seat down there. Now you're under arrest for disorderly conduct. Resisting touch you. I don't touch you. I don't touch you. I didn't touch nobody. Put it in your car. I'm under arrest for what? Disorderly conduct. We have people standing outside and you're out here yelling screaming. That's disorderly conduct. You are under arrest. All right. Just stop touching me like that. Okay. Not touching you, ma'am. I'm leading you to the car. Stop. Stop touching me like that. You're hurting me. You hurting me. You hurting me. What is your name? You hurting me. You hurting me. I want custody as you can. You can search me. I want a woman. I want I want a woman to No, don't touch me. I need a woman to search me. Hey, you pull me out front. Put me out front cuz I don't see no camera. We both have body cameras on there. Right here. The teenage boy vehemently denied that his mother was responsible for the bruise on his face. It seemed her jailbird boyfriend was the culprit and she was protecting him. While the mother was placed in the squad car, the officers cleared the house to make sure no other children were left inside unattended. No, please. I'm coming up. No, please. Please. Got a locked door. Hey, whose room is the lock room upstairs? Which room? At the end of the hallway. Uh, that's the the one on the left or the one? No. No. All straight back. That's the bathroom. Why? Who's in it? No. You could uh It's locked. Try to unlock it cuz it's messed up. So, we don't Hey, come out, man. Come out now. Clear here. I'm going to go stop out of the jail first. Come out now. Ready? All right. Cool. A female you have a second. Who? Your father. Of course. Okay. After the house was cleared, the mother was transported to jail where she continued to argue with officers. She felt that she had been unlawfully arrested and she made sure the officers knew it. From here on out, that would be up to a judge to decide. Your name? Step out. What's your name? I'm just stepping out until I get your name. Officer, you guys went inside my house without know I know my law. There was no reason for you guys to go inside my house. Listen, that's fine. Can I get your name? This bike is 669. It'll be on all the paperwork. Hey, I got I'm I'm going. I'm going. 669. What is it again? 669. It's going to be on all the paper. What's your name? No. Can I Can you repeat your name for me? No. Why not? 669. All right. You know that, right? I thought I weren't. You guys know that, right? Stop. 6 69. What? That I weren't. Then I can't even get your name again. Why was I already told you it's going to be in the paper. I'm not going back and forth with you. Officers already so that you guys can go inside my house with that. I want so you guys can get a Okay, that's fine. I know my rights. That's fine. Okay, then take I can I can be drinking. Y'all is drinking. Right. What the all looking at? The woman was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer. And although abuse is abuse, some cases, like our next one, are worse than others. On February 4th, 2023, police officers responded to a residence after a father who was under the influence of ran over his wife in front of their child and fled the scene. Is the husband inside? He took off my app. It's in my name. And he deleted the video of him running me over in the driveway this morning. As you can see the tire marks and you can see he hit my car after he hit me right in front of my son. And um so I was on the phone with ADT to get him logged out of my account and recovered the video and he stole my computer, my laptop that I do my schoolwork from. Well, I mean, there's no need to get all the kids out of the house or anything like that right now if he's not here. He ran me over in front of my son. I I understand. You wanted to bring your son out here, correct? Well, I wanted him to tell you what happened. Well, I'll speak to him in just a minute. How old is your son? Six. Okay. Well, I'll we'll do this inside so that way we don't freak him out. But, I mean, he he knows what's happening. He just he just told him he asked him when he came home, "Why'd you run my mom over?" and he told because I wanted to take your mom out of this world. And you don't have access to that camera footage anymore? No, you believe it. The woman denied medical treatment for her and her children. She said the altercation began when her husband attempted to inject in front of her child. With such alarming accusations, the officer asked the woman's son what he witnessed. What did you see, buddy? Um, well, he told me something and he said before he run her over, he kind of hit her but before she How did he kind of hit her? He the front of it. Only the front of it hit her. Okay. The front of the car. The van. Okay. But when you say that you saw her when you saw her getting hit, did that happen just a little while ago? In the at morning. Okay. This morning. And was that with a car or was that with like a hand? You need to tell this man what happened right before he hopped in the van and hit me with it. He put you to the ground on the concrete and was and opened. Was he on top of the needle cup? Do you want me to go get the new cup? No, I don't. I I don't want you to get that right now. It sounded like the boy witnessed things children should never see. And the worst part was that what he described was only the beginning. At this point, only one thing was for sure. The father would have a lot of explaining to do once officers caught up with him. When he took that stuff out, I told my son that it wasn't safe for him to be in the van with daddy right now and that he needed to get out. So, he got out and I was recording and throwing the stuff away um because he's trying to tell everyone that I'm unfit and he attacked me and pulled me to the ground by the trash barrels. I was screaming from upset with him and said, "Why are you hitting my mom?" He yelled at him to get back in the van. Got in his van and started to back out of the driveway. You can see the tire marked out, slammed on the brakes, he threw in drive, and he mashed the gas and he hit me and my car and hurled me about 5 ft into the dirt. The woman explained that although the incident happened a few hours ago, she didn't immediately call the police because her husband has a long wrap sheet for domestic battery and she didn't want to be responsible for putting him behind bars. Next, the officers spoke to some witnesses to bolster their case against the abusive father. Hi, ma'am. Um, so what happened? Well, um, the only thing I know is that she banged on our door and asked and was screaming for help and she said that he ran over her with his car. Did you guys call 911? No, I asked her if she wanted me to, you know, she looked all right on the nurse. So, okay. I mean, she she looked like she was shaking, you know. The female victim exhibited the classic signs of being in an abusive relationship. Essentially, she blamed her husband's drug use on his violent behavior toward her and her son. She said she didn't have the money to leave him as she was a stay-at-home mom. It was a tragedy all around. I love him so much, but I don't understand why. I just don't get it. He's lost our son before um to DCF. They came and tested him and Michaela and they found in their system. And he tells me that it wasn't because of the drug. It was because he was dating a girl that started fights with him and would scream and draw attention to it. So the drug aren't the problem. It was the fact that I said, "Well, she was probably sick of your kind of like I am. I mean, what? I wake up this morning and find him half on the couch in the playroom and half on it. And I'm like, you know, this is crazy. You're doing things with your helper. I said, you're both feeding off each other. I said, this is not okay. I said, a normal person would not use one substance to come off of another substance. They would go and they would get the help they need. I said, you make your own schedule. I said, that's just an excuse. I said, "You need to find a new helper and you need to go back to AA or I can't do this anymore. We need to separate." Um, I said, "I can't have this around my kids. You're we're supposed to be breaking the chain in the cycle and your dad just passed away. This could be you." Next, the woman showed the officer some of her husband's drug paraphernalia. After recapping the events of the night and the following morning, she went into detail about the altercation that took place just a couple of hours before the officers arrived on the scene. So when out of the van, he was going back to the trash can cuz I had at that point I think I put it back in the trash cuz I didn't want to walk around with it, you know. And um he went to go take it and I'm recording him and uh and then he's yelling get back in the van. Because I was recording him, he grabbed me. I started screaming and he put me down on the ground right here. I was screaming help. So he backed up, slammed on the brakes. He threw it in drive and he mashed the gas and he came screaming at me. And I And that's where those tire tracks came from. And I think I might have been turning to run away or I was backing up. Yeah, I think I'm pretty sure I was like trying to run away and I I almost did. I almost did, but he got me in the leg and I Where were you when you got hit? I was probably like right here. Okay. And right behind you right there. Okay. And then he hit the side of you. Okay. I like flew backwards. I landed on my butt. Having heard the whole disturbing story, the officer gave the woman some advice. Although it was hard for her to hear, unfortunately, police officers are far too familiar with this type of domestic abuse and know full well what it often leads to. He is not going to get any better. He He's not. He He This is going to be a revolving door of this stuff continuously happening. And today he could have you or your child. Today you guys dodged a huge bullet. Literally a a van. Okay. This could have gone so much worse. I know. Had he not and he's under the he's under the influence right now of there's no telling where his mind is at. You got to you got to get with family and you got to start coming up with something. Oh my god. Because we can't we can't do this again. It It's time to stop this. You're not going to have any say on what happens to him or anything like But I mean, this is this is too far. I know. This is too far. I'm going to get a victim victim advocate out here to come talk to you. Okay. Let me um collect yourself. If you want to go inside and hang out for a little bit and hang out with the kids, you're more than welcome to do that. Um let me go ahead and make this phone call and see if I can't get somebody out here real quick. Okay. Okay. Thank you. The man was arrested during a traffic stop. He was charged with aggravated battery, causing great bodily harm, child abuse without bodily harm, and tampering with evidence. On April 8th, 2024, an officer in Ohio was on patrol when he spotted a woman driving with expired plates and decided to perform a traffic stop. Hello, I'm Officer Marusa Ammers Police Department. So, the reason I stopped you, I ran your plate. Um, owner of the vehicle's coming back is suspended. Are you Britney by chance? No, my sister. Who? Who are you? I'm your sister. Okay. Do you have your license on you? I do not. You do not? What's your name? Do you have like any form of ID on you? No, I don't. Okay. Do you have a valid license or? Yes, you do. Okay. What's your social security number? What? Do you know your social security number? So, where are you guys heading tonight? I'm taking your next. Okay. Okay. And how old are you? No. No. You. No. You. You're 25. Okay. Give me one second. My partner's coming. I'm going to check. She um the driver says she's 25 and that does not look like it. Doesn't know her social. I couldn't see the picture the BMD picture of 51. So I just waited for you to back up and After running the license information, the officer knew the woman was lying about her identity. Now the question was, who was she? Why was she lying? And who was the 10-year-old child next to her? All right. That's not you. You're Britney. Okay. So, we're going to have you step out of the vehicle. All right. You're under arrest. Put the phone down or give it to Give it to your daughter. We'll worry about her. She'll be fine. Okay. Honestly, that's the only reason. Okay, I get that. Yeah. I just didn't want her. All right. Turn around. Put your hands behind your back. Do you have like any form of ID on you? Does she have somebody that can come pick her up? What was that? Okay. You got anything in your pockets? I'm not going to like reach in or anything. [Music] I don't know if they're going to launch you. They likely are. What can we Who who can pick her up? There. We need to take her back to the police department. She can get picked up. She can get picked up. I just have to call. Okay, we'll work on that. Yeah. Yeah. Let's make sure that they want you first, but in in the event we'll we'll get her taken care of. Okay. Is there anything that you need besides your uh phone? Uh, you have a wallet or my wallet? [Music] The officer read the woman her rights. She said she lied about her identity because she had a warrant out for her arrest and didn't want to be handcuffed in front of her daughter. The license that she gave the officer was her sister's. As the officer was helping the little girl gather her belongings from the car, he noticed something suspicious. Is there is there a receipt for any of this? No. So, I was getting stuff for the daughter. Yeah. And all this stuff. Okay. So, I asked her, I said, "Is there a receipt for any of this?" And she was reluctant, but she said no. She said no. So, they just came from Kohl's. So, I'm sure that this got swiped cuz there's no bag or anything. Um, I'm going to call Lraine real quick. Okay. I'm Did she Did we meandize her? No, I merandized her. Okay. Well, I'm just going to ask her about this stuff real quick. And I mean, she even stolen property. Yeah. So, I just too, but what was that? Yeah. Um, so there's this stuff like brand new. Yeah. Well, I just uh I wanted to help that little girl out, get her stuff and Yeah. So, do you want to ask her real quick? Um, I'll be with you. Okay. The officers confronted the mother about the merchandise in the back of her car. Although she had no receipt or bag from the store, she said she purchased the items a week ago. Suspicious when they asked her what her warrant was for, and she told them it was for theft. So, we're going to call Kohl's and we're going to contact LPD and see if they had any. So, they're going to check. They'll check the cameras. So, I mean, Dory lied to us a bunch of times. So, Hey, Jeff. Uh, she's got hundreds of dollars worth of clothes. She says she bought them a few months ago. I had the daughter who's 10 years old. She said they just came from hole. So, when I asked mom that, she said, "Well, I just got her some makeup. No receipts. Can't pull up the transaction on her card or anything." So, I I I don't believe her. Um, but the daughter said, "This little girl said they just came from there, so we'll see if they had anything." Um, you know, she already lied. The original warrant I said she wouldn't even tell me what the original warrant was for. I finally got to it for the more or more stuff. These look used or this looks brand new almost. The officer read the woman her rights. Upon questioning, she said that the clothing in the back seat belonged to her boyfriend and that none of it was stolen. But just like with the merchandise in the back of the woman's car, the officers didn't believe her. If you have some way to prove that all this stuff belongs to you, we'll give it back to you. But at at the present time, we suspect that it's very likely that the stuff is stolen because of the way it's laid out in the car. It was all stuffed in that backpack. That's not a Kohl's bag. It all has the tag still on it. It's very clear that it's brand new clothing. Okay? So, if it turns out to be stolen, you will be charged with receiving stolen property at a later time. Okay? So, that's What you told me is that's all you want to say? Yeah. Okay. The suspect was charged with obstructing official business, driving under suspension, and expired plates. In court, she pleaded no contest to obstructing official business, and driving under suspicion. Although she was found guilty for driving under suspicion, she was found guilty of the other charges and was ordered to pay $260 in fines and court costs. On March 7th, 2023, an officer responded to a call from a concerned citizen who reported that a woman was walking around looking lost with a crying baby in her arms. Cuz they were they were worried about the baby because she's throwing a tantrum. No. Well, more they wanted to make sure the baby was okay and that you were okay. I'm fine. I'm trying to find emergency housing. Um, what what here? Let's walk over here so we're not running. So, what's the situation? What uh Huh? What What What are you going through right now? I'm going through a lot. Like, as far as housing, why why are you looking for emergency housing? Because I had a boyfriend who used to beat out of me and I don't want to go around my kid. Um, so Conley will not take me. Lee Connley won't take you. No, because of a conflict of interest to where one of their staff members told my husband where I was so we can only keep her and dealt with them and they won't take right. Um I I'm willing to do public assistance, public housing. I'm willing to do Melon Manor. I don't have a ride. Well, I know you didn't have a license for a while cuz there's an issue with that. So, I remember that. if you can please help me in any way. The officer told the distraught mother, Jessica, that a victim's advocate was on the way to speak to her. Jessica was later released with her baby as technically she had done nothing wrong. However, a few hours later, a woman showed up at the station with Jessica's baby and a disturbing story for the police. Just real quickly, just go ahead and tell me what transpired. first last night. She came in um I want to say 10 minutes before we closing and she had the baby with her. Both of them had no shoes on. The mom her and Jessica walked in and she asked me could I give her a new emerald card. Um because her taxes had dropped and she she left it somewhere or something happened with it. So I got ready to put her stuff in and I noticed the baby had took her diaper off and she was like pointing at her private like her it was irritating her something. So I was like oh maybe it's the diaper you know irritating just whatever. She was like she's not going to do that because I only have one diaper for her. So she put the diaper back on her and it wouldn't you know how the sticky side of the diaper it wouldn't stick no more. So she like hit her and was like, "You just stupid. You should have beat me." And I was like, "What?" So I called the police. The woman explained that in the morning, Jessica showed up at her work again and began harassing employees and customers for money. According to the woman, after the commotion, Jessica had a disturbing proposition for her. So she walking past the job with some other girl and she said, "Come here. Come here, cuz I trust you. Come here." So, I'm like, "Oh my god." I asked two of my carers to walk out with me cuz I don't know what's in somebody mind. And as I walked over there, she said, "I'll give you if you give me $500 right now, you can have it." I said, "Have what?" She said, "Have her." And she put her down in the leaves. And I said, "Are you serious? This at this time, the baby got up and she was getting ready to walk in the road. If you know Kill is a busy road. So, she get and I grabbed the baby and I picked her up and I I'm not giving you no money. She said, "Well, just have her because it's just it's just too much for me." I said, "What is too much for you?" I said, "Do you want do you need help?" Again, I'm asking you, "Do you need help?" And she said, "No, I don't need help. I just don't want the baby." I said, "Okay." And I got the baby. I was crying. I walked across the street and I tried to wake her up and I put her in my car and I told her, "She's going to be okay. This should not go on with a child. Jessica's baby was ultimately turned over to the Department of Children and Families. And two days later, the police tracked down Jessica. After reading her her Miranda rights, she agreed to answer some questions. Do you have children? Yes. Okay. How many children do you have? I have two. You have two? Yes. What are those children's name? One passed away and one you guys have my daughter. What's your daughter's name? Giovana Chantel Woods. How old is Giovana? Giovana's 18 months old. She's my world and I'm hers. Okay. Where is Giovana? Giovana was supposed to be returned to me last night by 6:00 p.m. I got called by the police and told the DCF got involved. I went to I went and filed my taxes at H&R Block. While I was there, one of the members of my church filed my taxes for me. She asked me if she could keep my daughter overnight. She said she wanted to buy her some clothes. She know I just got out of abusive marriage and I'm trying to get back on my feet. I just got a stable place to stay. We exchanged numbers. I told her I had to have her back by 6:00 p.m. She could only stay one night. She wanted to keep her for a week. I told her, "No way." And I I have five witnesses to this. The story was nothing like the one they heard a few days ago from the woman who reported Jessica. Given their brief history with Jessica and the fact that the officer wasn't born yesterday, the detective wasn't buying Jessica's story and decided to up the pressure. You remember having a conversation about trying to sell Giovani? What? I'm just No, I would never sell my child. No. I I can't even believe that was even stated. My child is my life. If I lost her, I would kill myself. I can't live without my baby. But yet you didn't call police last night. I called DCF who told I thought y'all were together. Are y'all going to let me go? Uh, no, man. No. There there is a a warrant for your arrest. Jessica was charged with child neglect and cruelty towards children. She was held in the Putnham County Jail on over a quart million dollar bond. Although we're taught not to talk ill about our elders, it's necessary for kids to speak up if their parents are breaking the law or abusing them.
