Get off the car, get off the car, get off the car. I'm going to taze your ass. Shawna, you're going to get another charge. Police dogs have a long history of being involved with law enforcement as well. They're loyal and smart and have extra sharp senses. Come here, come here. Show your hands. SHOW YOUR HANDS. I'M TRYING TO RUN, BRO, PLEASE. SIT STILL. OFF. GET ON THE GROUND. GET ON THE GROUND, MAMA. GET ON the ground. On your back. But man's best friend can also become a crook's worst enemy when criminals mess with the wrong police dog. Bro, what are y'all doing? Get your mama, GET YOUR MAMA. PUT IT ON. MAMA. OH, RELAX. MAMA. MAMA. GET YOUR PHONE. [Music] ON SATURDAY, AUGUST 9TH, 2023, in Ocala, Florida, officers responded to reports of a shooting in the Carlton Arms Apartment Complex. When they arrived, they found a victim with a gunshot wound to the right leg. The victim was quickly taken to the hospital while officers began searching for the suspect. Where did he go? Where did he go? He's running on Southwest 20. BLACK SHIRT. POLICE. HE'S RUNNING, HE'S RUNNING. GO, GO, GO, GO. HE'S GOING TO 19,000. 500. TURN AROUND, turn around, freeze. GET OFF THE CAR. Problem for 1855. Southwest first. I got cuffs, I got cuffs. COME ON, MAN. OKAY, OKAY. GOT HIM, GOT HIM, GOT GET BACK. GET IN YOUR VEHICLE. GET IN YOUR VEHICLE RIGHT NOW. GET IN YOUR VEHICLE. THINGS ESCALATED QUICKLY SINCE THE MAN decided to run from the officers, but they swiftly regained control when the canine grabbed the suspect's leg. They were able to successfully handcuff the suspect, but his mother was more worried about the fact that her son was going to be arrested rather than the fact that he had just shot somebody. That's what you can do. Yes, sir, that's not your name. Listen, I'm Officer Boy, YOU GOT A WARRANT FOR YOUR ARREST, all right, sir? What? You Mr. Davis? You got a warrant for your arrest. No. Yes, sir. For what? Roll over. FOR WHAT? BRING YOUR KNEES TO YOUR NECK. FOR WHAT, BRO? Lift up, come on. Can you tell me for what? You Mr. Davis, you got a warrant, man. Wait, wait, wait. Wait. Multiple. Wait, wait. What's wrong? All right. Move over to the patrol car, we'll let you lean up against it. I got you. COME ON. I GOT YOU. Why did they do that to me? What did I do? The male was identified as Dante Leonard Davis, the man the officers have been looking for for almost 2 weeks. According to witness statements, the suspect was arguing with a man over the phone the day before. When the tension rose too far, he went to the man's house and SHOT MAMA. [Music] MAMA. LISTEN, RELAX. ALL RIGHT. MAMA. YOU DON'T KNOW WHERE HE'S GOING. MAN, COME ON, MAN. THIS IS THE FIRST CAR. NORTHWEST FIRST. Don't let them do this to Back your car up right here. PUT HIM IN 127. NO. I'M RIGHT behind you, mother We're going to follow him to the jail. WHERE ARE Y'ALL TAKING HIM? IT'S pathetic that an attempted murder suspect is crying for his mother when he realized he would face the consequences of his actions. His mother, who was on the scene the entire time, demanded that the officers give her son medical attention. In addition, she said she would track and follow the officers to the jail as if she could make a difference in his arrest. Where we getting bit at? I don't think he bit his left foot, but I don't think he got bit or broke anything. Why don't you take HIS SHOE OFF? MAMA. STOP. STOP CALLING FOR your mom. Mama, come here. Sit in the car so we can pull your shoe off and check the dog bite, okay? Okay, so sit up, be a grown man. Let's go. Okay, okay. I got you, baby. So listen, lift your shoe. Lift your foot up. Lift your foot up. Okay, baby. Okay, I got it, I got it. Okay, well, we're telling you 15 times and you're not listening. Okay, sir. Like you're the one with the dog. You let the dog You got him right here. I don't think he got him. [Music] You got a picture of me? This is ridiculous, bro. Y'all have man handling the nose. I didn't do [ __ ] [Music] Uh. What y'all doing? He got bit, he got bit, he got bit, right? Yeah, technically. Even though EMS was trying to treat Dante's injuries, he was still trying to communicate with his mother. It was almost as if she was the one trying to protect him from the police. If she helped him hide from the cops, she could get herself arrested for complicity. Bro, what did I do? What did I do, mama? I'm asking them, they ain't telling me. Hey, Morgan. They're not telling me what did I do. No, I wouldn't. What do you mean? I didn't see you. No, I didn't. I didn't see the house. I'm not sure if I don't think I got nothing on me, bro. I don't do nothing. This is ridiculous. This is ridiculous, man. You need to stop talking right NOW. I DON'T CARE, YOU DON'T TELL ME I'M GROWN. STOP TALKING, I DON'T CARE. I DON'T HAVE TO GO NOWHERE, THIS IS PUBLIC. HEY, this is this is the actual scene OF THE CRIME. OKAY, OKAY, this is a public property. This is a sidewalk, right here. This is a sidewalk. What? Go to the sidewalk right now. The paramedics loaded Dante onto the stretcher and into the ambulance for his dog bite. The entire time he was dry heaving, crying, and yelling for his mother to follow them to the hospital. He was also incredibly confused and continually denied his involvement with any crime, leading officers to question if they really caught the right guy. They tried to shoot me for Bro, what the [ __ ] What the hell happened? Subject is 10-15 What the hell I got a warrant for my arrest for, bro? Go ahead and put Get out of your left shoe, Arnold. This is crazy. You got lucky. It almost fell off. Well, not driver's license or credit or card. I think I might be able to find it. Yeah. This is what you got in your nose. Yeah, you're doing just fine. You got to try and settle down, though, okay? You have like really worked yourself up. Well, you're you're safe now, okay? We're tracking the ambulance. We're going to the hospital. You need to keep your hands still. It's just it's just procedure. It's for everyone's it's for everyone's safety, including your own. Dante was taken to the nearest hospital where the officers explained to medical staff his involvement as a suspect in the case. Despite running for his life when the officers showed up at his house, he still denied having any involvement in the case. Back at his home, the officers turned their attention to his mother. Did you Did you take the vehicle from a stop after it was initiated? After somebody ran on foot? Is that what happened? WERE YOU OBSTRUCTING OUR INVESTIGATION AT THAT TIME? I got to see what y'all was doing last time. Were you obstructing our investigation by taking a vehicle? I THINK YOU WERE. I BELIEVE YOU WERE. The last time y'all let the dogs get beat my child. Y'ALL BEAT MY CHILD. YOU CAN CALL CIA. Y'all beat my child last time. No, that was the Mary County Police Department. Well, they don't have a police department. 33-year-old Dante Leonard Davis was arrested and charged with attempted murder, fleeing, and resisting arrest. He also had a criminal history of sexual assault and battery. On January 3rd, 2024, a Florida officer was questioning a suspicious woman with a possible substance abuse problem. While speaking with her, the woman seemed to ramble nonsense. Theo is really up to no good. Where is she at? Um they either like Jeffro's or Stars or Joe's. And um he's got a bat wrapped in um that fence What's it called? The the fence that the pokes on it? >> Mhm. barbed wire He's got one of those driving He said he's going to hit Jen with it because he thinks she stole his backpack. I said she doesn't have a red backpack. She didn't do that. You haven't even been down there. I'm going to hit her with it. I was like, please don't hit my girlfriend over a backpack that you don't even know she's got. >> Mhm. But um yeah, he's he's He needs to go to jail before he hurts somebody bad since the rest of his life running. I just want to know my life where I need to go. You have any drugs or weapons on you? No. You sure? Yes. Well, I might have well. You got a wallet? Um a Gerber as well. All right, look at that there real quick. What else you got on you? Here, put your lighter and stuff there. And your cigarette. Not that I'm going to poke myself. Just tell me now. I don't want to poke myself with any needles or nothing like that. No pockets or anything? You're Shauna, right? Yeah. All right, put your hands behind your back. I won't. Mhm. Why? Uh-uh. What are you doing? I'm just wanting to know Huh? What you got on you? >> behind your back. I don't want to. I'll tell you in a minute. Hands behind your Can you tell my Can you tell my girlfriend, please? Even though the police were there to arrest the woman, Shauna, for her active warrants, she thought it was the best time to report another person who was allegedly threatening her girlfriend. But that didn't do much to distract the police. But soon, things took an unexpected turn. I'm going to tase your Shauna, you're going to GET ANOTHER CHARGE. STOP. STOP. YOU'RE GOING TO GET ANOTHER CHARGE. All right, so far I got one running. Shauna, stop. She's about 5'8, wearing a black sweater, black pants. Her name is Shauna. 10/29/84. She's got a felony warrant. I lost her right here at the center section of Monaco Drive and Snug Harbor where we had that signal seven. I know she went in this house right here. I lost her right around the corner. Uh just right in that northwest corner. All right, I came around the corner, she bolted on foot, and then I jumped in my car, chased her around this corner, and then I lost sight of her right here. At that point, it seemed like the officer lost Shauna as she was able to run away fast. While communicating with dispatch about her whereabouts and how to find her, the officer made his way back to the substation to retrieve a K9 that could track her scent. Where's that at? Where's 15? I don't know. Okay. [Applause] Down. Hey, relax. Hey, I know you smelled her over there. I know she was. Sheriff's Office K9, if you're back here, you're going to get bit. You saw her running where? Okay. What a smart dog. It led the officers to what appeared to be a base camp of some sort in the woods. This meant there was certainly someone or a group of people living there. This was a good place to look considering Shauna and her girlfriend was in the woods. Precious, hey. Come on now, you're going to get bit by the dog. Come on now. Shauna, come out. Come on out. SHOW ME YOUR She's going to hit Come out. All right, come We're walking out of the woods. Down. Good boy. Good man. Down. Down. Hey. Yes, she's got warrants. Good boy. Down. Down. Down. Down. I didn't know she was a bus. The officer searched Shauna for any illegal contraband once more. This also gave everyone a chance to calm down after the arrest since it had been intense. Soon enough, the officer that originally spoke to Shauna arrived on the scene. What I tell you? Okay, so that doesn't give you an excuse to take off? I just wanted to say goodbye. >> It doesn't matter. Yes, sir. All right, how many times have we been nice to you about everything? I just wanted to say goodbye, sir. Okay, you guys see me and I could have driven over here. Now you're doing that nonsense. I'm sorry. I pooped on myself and everything. >> Get in the car. Ridiculous. I'm sorry. Please don't. Please. Please, I'm sorry. That's what I have to say to you. All right, well, she's got She's got a warrant and she has skipped. So, um just hang out right here. I'm going to make sure you don't got any warrants or nothing then. Is that the camp y'all been staying in? Okay. Uh she was put in handcuffs, okay, and she was She was told she was under arrest, and she wanted to go run from uh deputy office. So, she was told she knew about the warrant. She knew about it. She didn't She don't She was She told us she knew about it. And then she was in uh she was in custody. And that's why she's getting charged with escape. Shauna was trespassed from the wooded area where she and her girlfriend had been living. She was also arrested and charged with two counts of resisting arrest as well as escape. She served 180 days in jail and paid a fine. On May 18th, 2024, police were chasing a suspect with active warrants. Despite the intense foot chase, the officers were not able to catch up with the suspect. A K9 unit was then dispatched to the scene to help find the suspect. I think it's best to run down the alley there. Okay. Is this What What little wind is coming this way? Come on. On the shoulder like thread. Wearing a Raiders black jersey, had a 45 on the back. Black shorts. Floor up. Floor up. Confirm the time again. Uh the area I need is 20th. Floor up. Hey Jake. K9 12 and now how to dog south of 19th. He is on the camera. I see if chopper's there. Floor up. And And could you advise that we're now in this alley? The officers listened to the description of the suspect from dispatch. While the officers were looking through a thick patch of bushes, the dog finally picked up a scent. K9 12 we know how to dog south of 19th. Put your hands up. Put your hands. Put your hands. I'm going TO LET GO, PLEASE. PUT YOUR HANDS. WHAT AM I DOING? PUT YOUR HANDS OUT IN FRONT OF YOU. All right, here. Here. That's a good boy. That's a good boy. K9 1207 19th down on I ain't got no Did you drop anything? My hands are out. Pull your pants up. All right. [ __ ] dog. The canine unit successfully located the suspect who was hiding in the thick patch of bushes near the alley. After promptly placing the suspect in handcuffs, the officer sat him up from laying on his stomach. He was then escorted by the officers to a squad car for transport. Hey, see your comment sign for me, thank you. Damn, what the [ __ ] is going on, man? [ __ ] dog. I'm going to lift your shirt up, all right, guys? See that? We said that I was like we're like we're not going to I heard your radio. I heard my head In my head I'm like I'm about to get cuz I heard you said canine radio. You didn't get bit by one of the young ones. The dogs? Yeah. [ __ ] That one would be a lot worse. The suspect was searched for any illegal contraband and weapons, but the officers didn't find anything. It turns out that the suspect had been bitten by the canine. Police dogs are trained to subdue suspects by biting and holding them in place. Man, but I got to get her number, man. Please, bro. I have to. Even if she was walking, please, bro. I'll walk him. Yeah, let me get that. I heard He's breathing. Yeah, he's breathing, man. What are you doing? Who that biting? [ __ ] dog. Man, on your hammies. You got one on the back right here. I could probably slide through the screen with my leg and not get bit. For me, he's [ __ ] leg up, though. Can I Man, can we please let me go, bro? Please. >> Watch your leg. Watch your leg. The suspect was placed in the police unit while the officers wrapped up the investigation. It was time for the officers to turn their attention toward paperwork. And of course, the canine hero that did a fantastic job finding the suspect swiftly. And his handler had to let it know. That's a good boy. That's a good boy. That's a good boy. That's a good boy. Hey, hold on. Hold on. Who was the first one that spoke? The nominee. Who was on that bike? I shoot they ass. For sure. That's the real booty man. I shoot they ass. I shoot they ass. All right, for sure, bro. Even the suspect commented how good the dog was at finding him. Although it was a great hiding spot, it wasn't good enough for the officer's furry companion. The suspect was arrested and booked into jail for his warrant. [Music] On March 18th, 2021, Brookhaven Police Department received a call about two suspicious people sitting in a vehicle outside an apartment complex. When they arrived, officers noticed a strong smell of mari- emanating from the car. When they looked inside, they discovered that both suspects were actively smoking. Ramirez Gutierrez active valid two Ramirez Gutierrez class C valid negative eight three Huh? No, I'm I'm just I'm trying to talk to you first, though. Somebody's calling saying you guys are just sitting out there. They're kind of concerned. You got your license on you? Yes, sir. All right. No, I don't have my license, sir. [Music] I got a 10-3 on the driver on me. 10-3 on the driver on me. While the officer was talking to the driver about his license, the passenger suddenly bolted out of the car and made a run for it. Instead of chasing him, the officer informed dispatch and detained the driver so that he would not pull the same stunt his friend did. You guys are just doing smoking pot? Yes, sir. Why run? All right. Is that all you had in the vehicle right there? Yes, sir. That's what I had. All right. You don't have any drugs or anything else on you that's going to hurt me? Anything like that? Okay. Why don't you got your license on you? I got them on my phone. Guys, I was just coming to smoke. Hey, I got them on my phone, guys. I just came to smoke with him. Okay. He lives here. I want to No, I don't live here. Okay. You just a friend? With the driver detained, the officer could turn his attention to the passenger who ran away. Since it would be a rather perilous foot chase, a K9 unit was sent to find the suspect. It was successful in finding the suspect in the surrounding area, but the young man chose not to surrender. Dispatch, give me a 78 on the game. I'm pulling out Pine Cone. You're going to GET BIT. GET ON THE GROUND. YOU'RE GOING TO GET BIT. GET ON THE GROUND. COME. COME. STAY STILL. OFF. OFF. OFF. GET ON THE GROUND. Get on the ground, boy. I got him on Pine Cone. GET ON THE GROUND. ON YOUR BACK. FLIP OVER ON your stomach. Hey, I've got him on Pine Cone. We got K9 deployed, but no party. Marijuana is detained. Go ahead and clear. Marijuana is detained. 10-31. Come. Good boy. Yes, a good boy. Thanks to the help of the K9 unit, both suspects were finally detained. And the officers were able to finally relax and continue their investigation. The officer spoke with the arriving officers before beginning to conduct interviews with both of the suspects. What's your name? How come I go over there and say your last name is something different than What is your name? I don't know. Okay. Where do you live? Right there on the block. Right there on the block like this. Right where we was walking. Where? Right where we was walking. We was where the guy where the police pulled up. 633 in my building. I'm going to advise you what you're waiting for. What is the the $1 was pulled out of this guy. Just a minimal amount of marijuana. I have to check that yet. It's feels empty. It's a new bag. You comfortable with me patting down, brother? Yeah. Yeah, you can go and show him on the other side if you don't mind. That's empty. It's got red residue residue in it. What's your buddy's name? Picky. Picky? Picky, yes. How do you spell spell? P E K K I Picky. P E K K I P E K K Yeah, and first name? And how do you spell Picky? Picky. What's his first name? Justin. Justin was listed. >> What's his last name? I'm not sure. Okay. You don't know his date of birth or nothing. Of course. Multiple things about the situation seemed suspicious to the officers. It was odd that the passenger ran from the officers when they were simply smoking which is legal in minimal amounts in Atlanta. Additionally, the suspects didn't seem to know each other very well at all. The officers decided to hear what the driver had to say. You guys are just over here smoking, right? And you said you live where? I live in downtown. In downtown? Okay, so what brought you over here again so I understand? Justin We was smoking with him. Smoking with him, and he doesn't live here. He does live here now. He just said, "Hey, meet me over here, dog." You guys sat down and started smoking, right? No big deal. Okay. Okay. And how old is he, do you know? I don't know. Does he got felony warrants out for him or something like that? Why is he running? I'm not sure. Or he's just afraid he's going to get in trouble for smoking? Shoot, man. It could have been something simple like a little citation, man. Now it's a little bit different. Now, boss man You already you already showed me the money you had in the back, right? Is there anything else in there, man? I don't need to know about that. 10-11 56811. That's it? There's more? How much? In my bag. 10-18-10-18. Okay. So you're just your your stuff that you showed me, that's all you had, right? There was nothing else in the car? Okay. There's nothing else in the car though. The officer gave the driver a chance to come clean about any other illicit materials that may have been in his car, but the driver said there was nothing else. However, a search of the car proved that he was lying. In the car, the officers found various other drugs and firearms. He left his mask and everything. He can be tied up for a little bit. I'm first. I'll read Miranda to both of them. And ask them whose is whose and what's what. If they don't claim it, charge them both. Especially the one who took off running. Well, that's his backpack then. I'm not that stupid. Yes. Well, he's got something in there. He's in the trunk. What's that? Great. Both suspects denied ownership of the items. The driver was charged with possession of possession of marijuana with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. The passenger was charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, obstruction of law enforcement officers, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. On April 21st, 2025 in Chillicothe, Ohio, officers spotted a car with illegally tinted windows. They promptly initiated a traffic stop. The officer only wanted to issue a warning, but little did they know it wasn't going to be as simple as that. How you doing, man? How you doing? >> Not too bad. Reason for the stop is the window tint. I'm sure you probably knew that's why, but you got your driver's license on you? No. I don't know, girl. I'm not a girl. Oh, I'm sorry, little boy. I saw long hair and I can't see back there. So you got the registration and insurance, man? Um I don't. Not on me. Okay. But there's no registration in there or anything? Where you headed to, by the way, man? I We was just headed to McDonald's to get some ice cream. Okay. Where you living at? You live in South Florida? Yeah. Okay. I live right on the street. That's it. You said you just had McDonald's real quick. Yeah. I got you, buddy. And if we leave him in the car with that man, there shouldn't be any narcotics. What is it? >> Any narcotics or anything? No. Just this bag. Marijuana? No. No. No guns? No. Okay. Hang tight for me, okay? The driver was identified as 38-year-old Richard Johnson. He was initially calm and collected when speaking to the officer, but hesitated when asked about his registration and proof of insurance. In order to cover all of his bases, the officer asked dispatch for a backup and K9 unit to help him search the car for any narcotics. Last week, had me thinking he was reaching for like a little blue chew baggy. He said, "Oh, no. I got some weed." I ain't worried about that, man. He was just being a little bit nervous on me. He's just He's just worried I'm going to find it. Yeah. No guns? Where is it? No. I'll I'll be his cover. I got you, man. He's taking off. He's taking off. He's taking off. He's taking off. As the officer began to approach the vehicle with the K9, Johnson sped away in his vehicle. At that point, the officer's concerns were not only about potential narcotics or firearms, but the fact that his young son was in the passenger seat during a high-speed chase. [Music] Show me your hands. Hands out the window. Where is it at now? Felony stop on those. Felony stop on those. Show me your hands. Open the door. Open the door. Open the door with your with your right hand. Open door. Face away from me. Face away from me. Walk backwards. WALK BACKWARDS. WALK BACKWARDS. WALK BACKWARDS. ON your knees. On your knees. Face down. Face down. Face down. Face down. What do I do? I'm coming. What are you doing, dude? Huh? What are you doing? Man, I just got scared, man. What's in the car? >> I got What's wrong with you? I got scared, man. Well, now you're going to jail. Hey. Hey, it's okay, buddy. What's your name, dude? You good? You scared? It's all right, buddy. What's going on today, man? You just riding around with you Is this Who is this? Dad? Yeah. Yeah. Hey, it's okay, buddy. All right. The chase took place through residential streets, where Johnson ignored all traffic lights and the stop signs. He also reached up to a speed of 60 mph before coming to a stop on Knowles Avenue, where officers surrounded the car without any regard for his young child. Johnson chose to flee from the officers in fear of them discovering what was in his car. Why'd you run from the dog showing up? Huh? Why'd you run from the canine showing up? What? I didn't have no canine. I don't know. Stop pulling Stop pulling Stop >> pulling away. Please, can you fix the cuffs, though? Please. >> will. You just ran from us. We don't know if you're making sure you're not armed. I'm throwing, man. Yeah. It's how you're to comply. Man, come on, man. What do you mean, come on? How old is your kids in the car? >> How old is your kid in the car? Child endangerment. Fleeing and eluding. Man, what? Is that Is that unreasonable in your eyes? The suspect claimed that the white powder in the container was simply creatine, which is a popular pre-workout supplement. The suspect denied having any involvement with drugs besides neither using nor trafficking. Meanwhile, the other officers took statements from the child and his mother and tried to locate the ounce of weed in the car. Where was it at? Underneath? Right here. Let me look at it. Looks like I'll let you walk out. That's Do you know what that is? What? Those are ashes. Okay. He's saying those are his dad's ashes. In a ziplock baggie. Where were they at? Underneath the dash? The man was questioned multiple times about the bag of powder found next to his steering wheel. Each time, he claimed they were his father's ashes. The officers weren't naive and knew that it was highly unlikely that he fled over an ounce of creatine and ashes. Come on, man. So, now that we're being a bit honest now, how we played the game. You said you're willing to work. Who do you hear? [Music] There ain't no F5. Who do you hear? You're here now. I mean, for lack of better words, I don't know how to say it. I I want to Right off. Before the officers made it to the scene, the suspect fled in a blue BMW sedan. He had a warrant for a burglary to an unoccupied dwelling and petit theft. The car chase ended with the vehicle crashing at an intersection, but the driver then fled on foot. I need you to come over here, man. Coming. All right. Which way did he run? No, here, buddy. Here, buddy. Here, buddy. Good boy. Yeah, good boy. Good boy, buddy. Let's try to make him run. Come on. Let's try to make him Want to get track, Mike. Come on. Let's try The canine unit was deployed immediately after locating the wrecked vehicle in the intersection. The canine officer requested backup in case the suspect was located. Shortly after being deployed, the canine led the officers toward a bridge hidden away from the road. He's right here. What side, Mike? Right over there. Put your [ __ ] hands up. Get Get the [ __ ] up here. It's either climb up or go to that dog. What are you going to do? I can't move my legs. Yeah, you can. You got here. Let's go. Roll yourself up. If you do not get up on your feet, I'm going to dog bite you, dude. I don't care if you're handcuffed. Get the freak up and let's go. You about to kill somebody, bro. Fueled by the adrenaline from the chase, the officers angrily pulled the suspect out from under the bridge where he was hiding. They led him toward a swarm of police cars waiting for him at the intersection so that they could confront him about his reckless and dangerous behavior. You got anything to stick me or poke me? Are you sure? Let's hope not. Anything in your shoes? I have some water. What's that? Just water? All right. I want you to turn around and sit your butt down right there. On the ground? No, on that seat. Okay. I think that's what I'm like you guys, but we live here. All right. My wife travels through every freaking day. I know. God help me if that's my wife. You're all right, brother. You're all right. Oh, yeah, mine, too. We both got my young one in the car. Yeah. Robert, open your eyes. Hey, buddy. I need you to stay awake. If you don't stay awake, you're going to get hurt. I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to him. I'm not kidding. They were able to identify the suspect, and the officers found his home address. Another group of officers were dispatched to his residence to question the woman he was living with. She was actually the one who called the sheriffs about the alleged assault. How long have you been living together? On and off, 5 years. So, you'd be willing to write us a statement, right? She's got marks on the back of her neck. I have marks everywhere, to be honest with you. Do you need any medical attention? You want to get checked out for anything? >> No. No. Like the past year, about year and a half, 2 years, it turned into I don't know who he is. Started hanging out with the steward, these kind of people over here, this person over here, they're over here, you know? I don't 8 years ago, I might have been in that life, I changed my life around. He doesn't want to change his life around. And don't get violent with me. I've been dealing with this for almost 2 years, man. And I told him, one day I the police are going to come. I didn't fight back. He might have a scratch on him. He probably does have a little scratch on him. That's because I was trying to get him off like that. The man was charged with domestic battery and fleeing or eluding from a marked vehicle. His bond was set at $15,000. He was able to plead down to a lesser charge of disobeying lawful order of police. Good on his partner for calling law enforcement and putting him behind bars. On December 6th, 2022, Doraville police responded to a call at Mighty Tidy Car Wash in Doraville, Georgia about a shooting incident. When they arrived, police found a black male sitting close to a dumpster clutching his hand in pain. Buddy, what happened? I'm getting tired, bro. What happened? >> Is this okay there? I feel I feel my arm, but I feel like it's >> I mean, you can you can hang up. So, who shot you? Hey, bud. Oh, no. I need an ambulance. >> They're coming, man. Who shot you? I don't know. Hey, buddy. What So, what happened? He said he went around the corner. Dude said he came out. He said he need that. I don't know what he wanted. I just tried to protect myself. Where exactly were you at? Around the corner. You know what? So, I'm The ambulance is coming, okay? Let me see your arm. All right. We're going to put a tourniquet on your arm, all right? He just said he was coming out the store. Where's those scissors at? He said he was by the store. I don't think it happened here. He just He just said he was by the store. Somebody came up to him and told him that I need that, and that's all he said. The officers did their best to tend to the suspect's wounds while they waited for the ambulance to arrive. They tried to get as much information as possible out of the victim, but he seemed to be passing out due to blood loss and couldn't provide much information other than the fact that it was a random shooting. Soon, the officers talked to witnesses. He's got a black He said he fell over there and he came running over here. So, I guess I'll check over there. Yeah. All right. I was thinking if we could go if someone sent somebody to QuickTrip to see if they can get the video. Did you see anybody run? I seen a No, I mean I seen a black guy walking from here. What was he wearing? He had like a like a backpack and stuff, like brown. I Maybe it's not him, I don't Did he have a brown hoodie on? According to the witness statements, the suspect, who was wearing a brown sweater, shot the victim within range of a security camera owned by the QuickTrip gas station a little further down. The officers then reviewed the camera footage to get a better idea of what happened. Hey, um so, I need the the time lapse to be a little bit before 4:18. So, do you do you know where they were like approximately on the property? Um so, that parking lot, he came from that right side. Do you know if there's any more cameras on this front side? Do you know if there's any more cameras here on this front side? Yeah, that one. Yeah, that one. Could you um make that one the only one that comes on the screen, that parking lot one? Yeah. And uh could you play it forward now instead of backwards? Okay. That's um that's fine. I got it. Although limited in its view, the surveillance footage was helpful in providing some essential details about the case. After reviewing the footage, the officers were able to get an idea of where the suspect might have ran to after committing the shooting. Now that they could close in on the suspect, a K9 unit was deployed to help the officers find the suspect. This is steep. It goes up. It's real steep. He last seen running this way, so I would I would probably go a little further in and cut back. As opposed to opposed to trying to go over here. Although, you can get on the other side of the building. I believe so, yeah. He'll still be down here. The officers searched every possible place the suspect could be beside the forest close to the Salvation Army a few doors down from the site of the shooting. Just when it seemed like they wouldn't find the man, a K9 alerted them to something strange hiding in a bush. Oh, what you got? Show me your hands. Show me your [ __ ] hands right now. >> your hands! Put your Get on the ground! You got him? Don't move! Lay on the ground! No, no, stay stay there. Stay there. I got the dog. I got the dog. Keep your hands up! Do not move your hands! Do not move your hands! Do not move your hands! Do not move your hands! Don't move, dude, unless you Don't move. We got him. Don't Don't do it. Where's your gun at? Where's the gun at? Where's the gun at? Gun's going to be around here. He ain't got it on him. Yep. There was a lot of ground to cover, but the K9's instincts didn't fail. The officers continued to pat the suspect down and search through his belongings, but were unable to find the firearm that was used to commit the crime. They tried reasoning with him, urging him to give up the location before a child stumbled upon it. But he wouldn't budge. Listen, man. Like he stated, man, we don't want no kid finding that thing and getting hurt, okay? Cuz there's kids around this area, bro. Do the right thing for once, okay? Can you please tell me where the gun's at so we don't we don't have nobody else get hurt? We know you Hey. He don't got it, sir. Okay, I know he don't. He heard all that. Chap. You want me to look this area or no? Careful. Leave the backpack? [Music] No, sir. Oh, my hat, yes, sir. The green one? The officers were able to successfully escort the suspect to the patrol car. Before putting him in the back seat, where it would be warm, they decided to keep him out in the cold while asking him where he hid the gun. Still, the suspect refused to tell them. Do you understand? Would you like to tell us now where the gun is? Or would you like the murder charge later? Just tell him, bro. Just tell us. It's over with. I'm going to Okay, I'm going to do this. I think I advise you I they're going to do that all that over there. I'm trying to get the gun so no kid gets it or anything like that or nobody anything like that. But if that's not what you want, that's fine with me. You want the murder charge later if the kid finds it and accidentally shoots himself and things like that? Hey, that's cool with me. That's a needle. Since the officers were unable to locate the gun with the help of the suspect, they were tasked with finding the firearm themselves, but were unable to do so. After hours of questioning by detectives at the station, the suspect agreed to comply and was brought back to the scene to show the officers the location of the gun. Well. Okay. Nope. I think he got it. Camera. All right, Sergeant Sherman. Let's move this gentleman back to uh I got you. I'm just going to I got you. Let somebody hold You want me to take this picture? I'm going to try. all the way up there and do it. I'm going to put that Yeah, I got it. That's why I'm just going to have somebody hold this for me. I got it. And then pass it up to me. Yep. Yeah, it's a Glock. There's your numbers. All right, and you found it right here? Right exactly under Under under here? Okay, so right there. Cool. The firearm was recovered and taken into evidence. The suspect was transported to jail for booking on charges of aggravated assault and criminal attempt to commit a felony. The victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment for his gunshot wound to the arm. Today, we've seen some of the best law enforcement dogs in action.
