[Music] I put my you got some blood drops on your shoes yeah so my son fell this morning earlier you're not you're not lying children body out people fall victim to unimaginable crimes every single day but what happens when the person reporting the crime is secretly the one who committed it well we're about to find out as we take a look at some of the most shocking moments when cops discover that the victim is actually the killer did you pull [Music] theer okay so you might you might have shot yourself on June 15th 2021 everything seemed normal in the town of Cedar Rapids Iowa that was until police received a chilling 911 call a young man stated that something Unthinkable had taken place inside his home one time emergency someone broken our house our address is 4414 Oak Leaf Court Northeast I've been shot my other family M been shot I need help immediately where were you shot at downstairs no on your body on your body where have you been shot what I'm sorry where fo in your foot foot okay how old are you how old are you 20 20 okay I'm I've got help come in just stay in the line with me okay the man on the phone is 20-year-old Alexander Jackson better known as Alex although he claims to have fallen victim to a supposed intruder inside his house police quickly become suspicious of his story as they arrive at the resident can you put your hands out to the side where I can see them um I have my hand on my wait a minute there more than one there's two yeah okay this guy looks like he's got gunshot to the Head who's this down here hey who are you my dad is that your dad what happened what happened he came down there was a man who shot your who else is here my sister she in the back yeah she's in her room is she okay I I think so what's your name Sabrina Saina is that a room right there Saina [Music] please hey oh sorry third yeah their loving homes been transformed into something out of a horror movie tragically the cops would find Alex's entire family 61-year-old Jan Jackson 68-year-old Melissa Jackson and 19-year-old Sabrina Jackson murdered in Cold Blood somehow Alex is the only one left alive and he's quickly escorted out of the house okay coming out to you as soon as I get it lowered okay looks to be at 22 wellow the rounds on the floor Alex is transported to a local hospital where he tells investigators that he was awoken that morning by the sound of gunfire according to Alex he encountered the alleged Intruder downstairs and they fought each other until Alex was shot in the foot investigators however quickly identified a few pieces of negating evidence including the fact that there was no sign of forced entry into the home they also wonder why the killer left Alex alive while brutally murdering the rest of his family we stepped out we talked to our coworkers they were at the at your house your house through the neighborhood Alex the reality is there's not not any evidence that anyone else was goate your house it's okay it's okay there Alex do you want to tell us what happened really happened Alex we're not here to judge you at all said I went downstairs and the man was there I F him I got shot I think he left investigators also discovered security cameras both at the Jackson home and a neighboring residence the footage did not show an intruder entering the house further disproving Alex's claims I didn't do this that's what you're trying to say when's the first time you you you thought about this scenario I didn't do it okay I would never hurt my family they are important to me I love them you may not understand that but I love them I think you do love your family I I really believe you love your [Music] okay like I said you're a you have 20 years of history that has led you to the point that you're your life a lot can happen in 20 years despite what Alex says tensions were rising in the Jackson household as his academic record was beginning to slip in addition Alex had a mere $30 to his name leaving Alex to worry that his father would eventually kick him out of the house due to his unemployment okay did you pull the trigger when the bullet got fired so you might you might have sh yourself okay well I'm a bit worked up the fact that you think we're that stupid it's really offensive now honestly it's offensive that I just fell out all of the evidence to you and that you're going to sit here and tell me basically I think you're done is what you're saying without saying it I think that's offensive because I didn't kill my that's why the reason the reason that this is is so clear on what happened because you didn't think it through that well exactly and you didn't and you didn't think it through that well Alex because I'm willing to bet right up until the point you pulled the trigger you were having second thoughts it would later be discovered that the deadly weapon used was a 22 caliber Browning semi-automatic rifle owned by the Jackson family the firearm was in the house before the murders took place and police find it awfully suspicious that the Intruder would randomly stumble upon the weapon and then use it to commit the unthinkable in addition during the murders the killer would have had to reload the weapon and this particular firearm requires an unusual reloading process and only someone experienced with the weapon would have been able to understand its complexities please don't make us leave here thinking that you just did this for fun for fun yeah have you done any research about shooting people or killing people sounds strange but people before how about shooting yourself how about suicide have you ever searched that not for me not for who was it for well just I'm trying to make sense of it when I can't make sense of you don't come across as a monster while it's already quite obvious that Alex is the true killer detectives are still wondering what drove him to do it as someone who wasn't known as a violent person something must have snapped inside the 20-year-old something dark and unexplainable it does seem like uh for you know if you were in my yeah you ever they were two young men that had shot and killed their parents in their home and Sir was an iner but later when they went to jail he teach the stories that said back wasn't using them it happen for pretty much their whole lives and that was what they went to with the hisr after the initial interrogation in the hospital detective sit down with the suspect One Last Time hoping to finally get some answers but it seems that Alex is still refusing to confess nevertheless the cops are certain that they have their killer now's a good time that if you want to you know let us in into your the world about what what what happened I'm telling you how I saw it you know right you still think someone was there yeah you want know someone was there okay how did they get out um I can't really remember probably door they came in so I think you woke up yesterday or today I should say um was it 8:12 when uh when you said that uh you need call 911 21 821 M I'm sorry I may have got that SL when I called mhm okay how long before that did you wake up for the day [Music] um five 10 minutes I okay so conservatively we could say you were asleep till at least 8: a.m. yeah okay so who's using your phone at 6: a.m. you get on social media who's using your phone at 6:00 a.m. to get on social media uh maybe me I don't know I remember in addition to several pieces of damning evidence investigators also o discovered two palm prints on the murder weapon both Belong To None other than Alex they also found blood spatter near the suspect's bed which indicated that he most likely shot himself in his bedroom instead of being shot downstairs by the Intruder like he claimed I don't know El she want well Alex Are you ashamed is that why you don't want to tell us I tell you I didn't do that well you don't want to no you did do it but there's a reason why you don't want to tell us um I just remember earlier today we talked about what do you want to happen at the end of the day you want to go home right when you're not going to go home okay you're being charged with murder of your mom your dad and your sister and you're going to go to jail in 2023 roughly 2 years after the incident Alex was found guilty of three counts of first-degree murder and sentenced to three consecutive life sentences with no possibility of Parole in addition he was handed a fine of $450,000 for restitution to this day he's never confessed to The Killing and his motive Still Remains an eerie mystery this next case however will perhaps be a bit more familiar to you than the last and even more shocking on August 13th 2018 34-year-old shanan watts and her two daughters 4-year-old Bella and 3-year-old Celeste also known as CC were reported missing by shannan's friend and colleague Nicole Atkinson at around 2: a.m. both shanan and Nicole had just returned to Frederick Colorado they'd been on a business trip in Arizona making the mother's sudden disappearance all the more unnerving Nicole eventually made her way to the Watts residence around 12:10 p.m. but being unable to locate her friend she then called shannan's husband 33-year-old Chris Watts after police were notified they arrived at the home around 1:40 p.m. for a welfare check hi here Nicole yes okay what's going on so my friend um we were out of town for a business trip this weekend right and I dropped her off at 2:00 this morning she's 15 weeks pregnant she wasn't feeling well and she had a doctor's appointment this morning at 9:00 and I told her to let me know she needed me to take her she's got two little girls and um she was very distraught over the weekend wasn't eating normally or drinking and we kept trying to force it on her because she's pregnant M um her husband and her supposedly are separating but she didn't know this she thought they were just having issues he disclosed that to me today cuz I called him and I was like have you talked or heard from shenan since you left for work this morning cuz I can't get a hold of her I've called I've texted her car's in the garage her shoes she wears every single day right the front door after having Mr doctor's appointment and a business meeting and failing to respond to Nicole's text messages seemingly shanan was unreachable at the same time Chris supposedly told Nicole that chenan had taken her daughters for a play date however the mother's vehicle was still at the house with her car seats inside before long Chris arrived at the residence to help look for his wife Scott how you doing so this is the only vehicle she would have only one she would drive okay you checked her upstairs she's not there there I just want to make sure she's not passed out somewhere is she [Music] diabetic you mind if I look around go thanks oh you're fine outside unfortunately shanan and the girls were nowhere to be found however unbeknownst to the officer the house he's walking through contains a horrifying secret one that would go on to shock an entire nation all gone um they blanket they sleep with they don't leave anywhere without them her phone's here does she work yeah she works from home oh from home she works this is her Lifeline nothing turns back now it's going to start blowing up oh yeah it was shut down can you look at your camera to see in her security system to see when she left us they left out the front door cuz you you told me that she went on a play date with the girls that's what she told me daddy said you told her she went some friends with she left she want to go to a friend's house with the kids that's why I knew they weren't at school Not only was shanann's phone located in the house but her wedding ring was also found on her bedside table and suspiciously enough their neighbor's security footage only showed Chris leaving the residence that morning however he placed a mysterious object in his truck before departing you guys have any kind of issues marital issues or we're separation you are you guys filed yet or anything or just talking about no we're going to sell the house and how's that going civil for the most part how long you been in O field since 2015 well and Aro 2015 January Covenant year before that after that I worked on cars for 11 years feel less repetitive as far as the same stuff over and over doing that all the time right lifting but perfectly what gives me time with kids like I used to be on 8 Days on days off but now I'm on 5 go back 86 right different R according to Chris and shannan's neighbor the couple could often be heard fighting inside their home however while Chris claims that he and his wife were currently going through a separation shenan may not have been on the same page next their neighbor pulls up his security footage but any action would have happened any cars or anything left your house I right oh it'll pick up anything coming down theet lo my stuff up my my water jugs my book bag my [Music] computers some of the tools that I had from the tool box I knew I was going have to do ping pupping in rubbers today what I was out so far is this on continently yep recording yep well it's not is it motion or is okay so it's motion any motion event that happens I got but I get cars driving from this street from this street this is him at 517 everything all the as they continue looking through the footage Chris looks incredibly anxious his family missing is obviously a very stressful situation but his neighbor takes note of his odd behavior and quickly tells the officer you just want to go talk to him I'm going to get his info real quick no right Nicole's having a weird feeling that Chris may be hiding something the puzzle pieces here just aren't fitting together and it seemed that over the last several days Chris's Behavior was becoming increasingly peculiar he never backs his truck into the driveway dies he never back truck up my mom said it to she's like he carries the stuff out in the house back truck up I have my camera do cuz when he was parking his truck over here the other thing that was odd is why she was gone he kept parking his truck and her car over here and I used to see him walk out of his house right here the car of the oh the car was parked over there for a long time like couple days this is past weekend U no it was when she was G for six weeks oh but I thought it was kind of odd that he never in front of here or back here he said someone broke into his truck I have no idea so suspicious now the entire state was officially on a Manhunt for the Beloved mother and daughters but already police considered Chris as a person of interest and after giving a somewhat bizarre interview the cop's suspicions were growing by the second I hope that she's somewhere safe right now and with the kids but I mean I mean could she event could she just taken off I don't know but if somebody has her and they're not safe like I want them back now like that that that's what's in my head like if they're safe right now they're going to come back but if they're not safe right now that's what that's the not knowing part like if they're not safe last night I was had every light in the house on I was hoping that I would just get just ran over by the kids running in the door and just like Barrel rushing me but it didn't happen and it was just a traumatic night trying to here did you guys get into an argument before it wasn't it wasn't like an argument we had an emotional conversation but I'll leave it at that but it's I just want them back on August 14th Chris is brought in for questioning he adamantly states he had nothing to do with the disappearances but investigators aren't buying it after being released that night he's again called in the very next day only this time they administer a polygraph test and Chris fails badly now he's sitting in the interrogation seat once again and the Dark Truth slowly unravels he did not pass the polygraph test okay okay so now we need to talk about what actually happened I feel like you're probably ready to do that I didn't I didn't lie to you on that holograph I promise Chris I know I do not know where they are at if I could have my baby's back home right now I would but you weren't here today lying about something else when you talk about that okay that's you you daugh I know and this is very good keep I I'm not proud of it like I didn't think anything like that could happen I think I ever do it but I did know Chris had been having an affair with his cooworker Nicole cassinger according to cassinger she was under the impression that Chris was in the process of divorcing his wife however the suspect here is full of secrets and he's still hiding the most horrific one of all I just I just find it hard to hear you talk about is having this emotional you know conversation with shenan and you're balling and crying together and you have not shed one tear in two days that you've been here not one I'm I'm showing you the Chris that cares about his girls and his wife just because I haven't shed a tear shouldn't make you feel like I haven't that the love isn't there for them it's weird I mean I'm always caring for these kids there's nothing in this in this in my life I believe that I believe that and I believe someone made a mistake whether it was you you or [Music] shenan and you either cleaned up after shenan or you made the mistake and I mean I want to believe that maybe shanan did it and you felt compelled to fix this so shenan didn't look bad sticking to his story The Suspect asks if he can speak to his dad who's also at the police station hesitantly the detectives agree hoping Chris might finally reveal the truth I don't want to protect her what I don't want to protect her you don't want to protect me I don't know what else to say she she she start Chris admits to taking Shan's life due to his claims that she was the one to ultimately murder Bella and CeCe as he tells the same story to the detectives everyone in the room begins to sympathize with this distraught parent little do they know though everything here is just a cold-hearted act sh both my kids are blue and they're gone I'm not that person like she hurt my kids I do same to her I what to do I know I didn't know what do like none of this none of this made sense why would she here girls I'm sorry I know I know you are I know you came in today to do the right thing you didn't have to come in you came in all in [Music] own I put my hands around my watch neck and did that same thing please don't take my up to this point Chris had never shed a single tear over his family this might leave the cops to question if he's crying out of grief or because the cops took notice that he hadn't cried yet what else could Chris be hiding after getting their confession the investigators want to know where Chris put his wife and daughters following their deaths you said thinks of a good man they're going to see this like what the CHR what like why she got cop to begin with well they weren't in your shoes they don't know I don't they weren't living your life I know but still it's like never like we'll just go a little steps at a time and that I can't have anybody show you out there anybody no C work please I mean this is they screw the for op anyway once they fig everything out anyway any we'll just take a little steps tonight then how about that do you have to have any of them with you no no we prefer you can you and me and Tammy and Ronnie get in the car and just drive out there disappoint Chris I know they're gone but they're still your babies and you're still dad you don't want I want Chris admits to hiding their bodies at the anad Darko oil field where he works tragically shannan's body would be later found in a shallow dirt grave while Cece and Bella were placed in oil tanks now the police are starting starting to realize that their suspect may just be a monster pretending to be a helpless victim when you see shenan choking strangling Celeste and you get her off of Celeste did you think um about calling an ambulance how come that's you and they're blue and Lim mhm I've never seen something like that in my life I mean she just like play over like nothing was she wasn't moving at all don't get mad but what it looks like is that you found a new life and the only way to get that new life was to get rid of your old life and I think that you killed these girls before their mom came home and then killed SH now so I think we're very very close to the truth but not like there yet like you're not that monster I'm not a monster I didn't kill my babies Chris maintains that he allegedly witnessed shanan murdering CeCe while Bella's lifeless body was already laying on her bed however not too long after this interrogation the Sinister truth finally made its way into the light after being arrested and charged with the murder of his pregnant wife and their daughters Chris would later plead guilty to all charges hoping to avoid the death penalty he confessed to strangling shenan to death before smothering his two daughters in a separate interview he talks about what really happened that day told her I didn't what get off and every time I think about it I'm just like did I know I was going to do that before I got on really that's an interesting thought Chris so you put Shen in the truck and then you put the two girls in truck so chanan was back there too on the floor what did they say about CH being on the floor Mom okay won you tell me should be fine D I just feel like there was already something in my mind I wasn't plan I was going to do it and I woke up that morning was going to happen I nool it's hard for us to understand how a dad who's giving piggy back rides and you know making snacks and watching princess movies and those kinds of things um how you get to that point you know said like they control over what fight back Chris was sentenced to five life sentences with no possibility of parole it was also given 48 years for the unlawful termination of shannan's pregnancy in addition he got an extra 36 years on three counts of tampering with the deceased body it Still Remains one of the most tragic cases that nation's ever seen our next case however is just as heartbreaking on Wednesday March 27th 2024 in ever Washington 4-year-old Ariel Garcia was reported missing by a relative however neither he nor his mother 27-year-old Janette Garcia could be found as police searched for the pair they eventually located Janette around 7:00 p.m. that night in Richfield Washington there was still no sign of Ariel but this situation was about to take a horrifying turn for the world did you know why we're here are you okay if I open this zipper why why are you guys here what's going on today can I open the zipper just check in there thank you I just want to make sure before what's going on today with you and like sounds like the cops has been talking to you already yeah my um so I you got some blood drops on your I was like if you can watch him for me for 12 months that'd be amazing because I'm not talking to my mom and she's the one that has has like just like a notorized paper saying that she has legal custody of them but I have legal custody of them she's not letting me see my older son so reportedly Janette and her son were staying at the apartment of her ex-boyfriend's mother apparently when the mother came home that day she noticed a large blood stain on the living room carpet with a bloody child-sized handprint alongside it that's when she reported Janette and Ariel is missing we want to make sure that he's safe and know where he is who's the friend that you left it with um I left him with another lady I don't have her information oh well that's that's not going to cut it we got to figure out where he's at where can you like tell me the location where somebody could go and check on him and make sure he's okay in SE um like seac area Okay Seattle more specific I don't have who's the friend how do you know the person that how did you pick the person she's the longtime friend that I know okay what's her name um ala that's all I know Alica bone Alica bone okay and you have or anything okay but you've known her for a long time so how did you reach out to her earlier that day Janette had spoken on the phone with her mother Maria Garcia she informed her mother that she'd given Ariel up for adoption but she gave a different story when an officer reached out to her later that day she told the officer that she dropped Ariel off in Portland Oregon before then saying it was actually Seattle Washington you understand we need make sure that he's okay and then yeah we just do that and then we'll we can leave you be you know yeah so so how do we find Alica I don't know can you describe to me how you got there from Providence so I just drove from there to Seattle and then that's it you drove from Providence to Seattle to alica's house yes okay um did you drive on the freeway or mhm okay um how how long did it take you to get there like 2 hours two hours and what car were you driving my car so just like 1 hour or so and what kind of car do you have um I have a Nissan okay where's that car now I don't have it with me okay so where's it at um I left it at her house and then I came over here on the bus Janette claims that after he allegedly fell she took the boy to a hospital to have his head checked out but the wait at the hospital was apparently too long she then drove her son to a friend's house where so she says but the police aren't buying it because a lot of the details just didn't add up you're not you're not lying you have a longtime friend that you reach out to to leave your son with who you obviously care about very much I love him with all my heart yes and you're expressing how upset you are about what's going on between you and your mom and the custody of him and your older son think that's horrible so I know that you're not going to go leave your son with somebody and you don't know where he is yeah no so you do know where he is no I know where he is I know where he's at tell me where he's at I don't have the address for him okay how can we find the address Dr form I don't know I did you put it in your phone no to get there okay just the day before Ariel's disappearance Janet's Mother Maria had won emergency guardianship of both Ariel and his 7-year-old brother according to Maria's petition Janet's drug an alcohol addiction had grown worse over the last several months rendering the woman unfit to be a mother it's fairly obvious that something isn't quite right and she finally agrees to give the officer an address when he fell where he get hurt just he on his head but fell on the ground and he hurt himself heads are the worst yeah so and and if you guys can't find him or whatever this is where I'm going to be for the next 12 months but I mean he's there check how did you guys discuss that you're going to you're obviously going to communicate with him still you want to check on him right all that how are you guys going to communicate well I'm not I'm not going to have my I'm not going to use my phone cuz I'm going to be here for the next 12 months okay um so if anything I don't know what else okay that's it you didn't discuss that with Alica before you left I I yes I discuss with her I'm going to be here for 12 months and then um and then but before that um like I don't speak to my parents or anything like that because we got into an altercation so but this is where I this is where I'm going to be janette's being extremely vague in ki something that the officers have most definitely taken notice of however they have no idea the Horrible Secret Janet's hiding all that matters right now is locating 4-year-old Ariel uh what time did it occur today like early like at 10: 11 10 11 okay do you know what time it is now it's already 6 6:30 or about to be 700 so how long were you guys at the hospital we were only there for a little bit he I don't even think he got check we got there and um but we didn't he didn't I didn't wait enough for him to get checked out so so he didn't actually go back and get checked what happened to him when he fell nothing he just cried just cried mm after it began raining the officers placed Janette in the squad car however times wearing thin and there are many questions that have yet to be answered the mother here is not being helpful whatsoever do you remember when you walked in like can you describe to me when you walked in what it looked like it just the hospital I said my son had to be seen for something and then I just his name and everything okay you're going like this so you wrote it down or was there like a check-in thing or there was a check all but I think they checked me in no okay yeah so you didn't write anything on there the mother's still giving very confusing answers she states that it was her first time at the hospital but she doesn't give the officer the name of the medical facility it's not really surprising seeing as her story is already pretty sketchy you think he needed stitches or anything no he's fine okay you didn't remember where his injury was mm is it front side back do you remember it's the side it was the side definitely one of the sides that you the front yeah okay front I might just take her phone she's got some specks on her shirt she's got BL on her shoes she not really making sense so if you guys don't like locate my son what's going to happen that's what we're working on at the moment why why do you think they won't be locate them I mean you got the address to where you be because like I'm I don't know I'm just saying if you guys are not able to find him like what's what can happen what's looking like what it's looking like right now is that we're going to need to stay with you until we find it around 3:40 p.m. that day Janette was caught on video pulling into the park lot of a Ridgefield bar when she gets out of the car she doesn't walk into the establishment but instead makes her way down the street according to documents she was also spotted on camera taking a toddler sized object out of the trunk cuz it sounds like you said you know where he is you know where you left him great so it shouldn't be an issue right should be able to locate him okay so that's what we just need to stay with you until till we locate him okay would you mind we have a Precinct right at the road it's comfortable and dry that we can all sit in so we can chat um so we're all out of the rain would that be okay where is it it's right the prrs yeah just on 179 yeah and then we can give you a ride back and all of that if that's okay can can I get a coffee from here before we go we we got coffee there we have coffee yeah oh we got coffee we give you coffee can grab that seat belt around your back side this and then the only other thing too when he travels I just got to put your purse on the front seat right there he's not going to get into it but janette's transported to the police station where she's eventually booked into jail for making false stat statements to the police investigators however are still on the search for the young boy in the meantime they talk with a few people who knew Janet from the rehab center how was her behavior uh drastically different because she was always bubbly and loud and had this big great laugh you know kind of really annoying laugh and and talking to everybody and and she was just kind of with her hands in her pockets and quiet my dad actually talked to her mom and told her mom that she needed to probably find her like special help like a psych like a psychiatrist or something like that cuz her problem was beyond just drugs and alcohol now it's like her mind was there sometimes and it wasn't so we told her to come actually get her and find her like a special help that's last not tragically Ariel's body would be found the very next day along Interstate 5 in Pierce County he suffered several stab wounds to his chest abdomen and back and in total sustained 41 injuries Janette was charged with first-degree murder and domestic violence with a deadly weapon with aggravating factors of domestic violence and vulnerable victim she pleed not guilty to the charges and she's yet to be convicted moving on to our next case we see another child become the victim when 13-year-old mat stto was reported missing on February 26 2024 she'd supposedly been dropped off close to her Florida Middle School that morning by her mother's boyfriend 37-year-old stepan Stern however when mty's Mom drove to pick her up early in the afternoon Jennifer SoDo was informed that her daughter never showed up hey there hey there what's going on so my daughter was dropped off close to school this morning but never made it so she was supposed to be dropped off at school didn't make it to school didn't make it to school I went to pick her up from school today and she never came out they they announced it over the speaker and I'm just like maybe she walked here because sometimes she'll walk here to this office I came here nothing I went back to the school they were closed I got a noticed an email from the school saying she was absent but I also messaged her teacher and he looked at her entire attendance today and saw that she was completely not at school today either okay um so she never made it is this like do she like have any places that you guys know that she'll be usually be at any friend's house any places that like she likes to hang out not typically no not typically Okay police would also discover that Maddy's phone have been left inside her apartment it's pretty unusual for someone to leave their phone at home especially a 13-year-old girl however following this brief conversation Stefan shows the officers where he allegedly dropped mty off that morning they here where these communities were thank you so it's like around where these communities were okay and it's just like in this dire like we could see the the overpass down there what's where's this uh just on the other side of the overpass so somewhere around here so yeah somewhere maybe not this one but the next one Poss is right in this stretch we just came down and we drove about halfway down and she was like that's good right here okay no no camera right now yeah I'm trying to see if we can find something police next bring a can9 unit in hoping the dog will pick up Matty's scent but unfortunately it didn't produce any leads Stefan speaks with investigators about why he didn't drop Maddie off directly at the school she's got this phase that she's been into lately where she very particular about what car she seen getting out of the school um she PR her mom's car but cars are in this kind um I get it it's an image thing but um that was sometime probably between 820 and 840 is somewhere in there it was along the stretch of the road that that um on the right side that has all the communities on it before you get to the overpass you can see the overpass and where it was m so was on that side in that stretch of road that's where I dropped her off while it might be true that Maddie didn't want to be seen in his car police still find the story a bit odd as they continue the investigation they'll soon learned that Stefan isn't exactly being 100% honest she said she was going to go wait for her friends she was going to go find them and hang out and wait for her friends and I asked if that was going to be okay she said yeah it's fine kids get dropped off early enough as it is it's not totally unusual for that to happen so it's not usually that early that I drop her off I do school runs every once in a while for her I said okay let her out have a good day love you thanks love you too and I turned around and was driving away and was watching her in my rearview mirror to make sure that she was going where she supposed to go she was moving in that direction but she was rumaging around in her backpack or something but I assumed was probably headphones or something like that but find out later that she forgot her phone here so she may have been raging for her phone but she was still kind of making her way towards towards that direction so it looked okay just two days after matti's disappearance Stefan's brought in for questioning again whereas Matty's name's been redacted from the interview stepan doesn't know it but investigators are already in possession of some pretty disturbing information that they'll confront him with soon enough what are the sleeping Arrangements sleeps in okay um did she sleep in her bed Sunday night uh no uh I was just back i' been away for a couple months in the same bed together to get some serious sleep um so she said no to that and suggested that the guest room upstairs had big enough that so snuggle cuddle time that that suffice J get to sleep in peace okay so you say snug all time what what does that mean like to be alone she's extremely dependent she does not like to be alone at all Stefan explained to police that he and Maddie would sometimes sleep in the same bed alone he said that was the case the night before the 13-year-old went messing though he justifies it by saying the reason was so Jennifer could get some sleep it's not only suspicious but downright creepy had her backpack presumably her school computer was in her backpack and you described her wearing Green Jackets kind of dark colored shorts and white crosss okay well I can confidently tell you she did not go with her back because we found in the chch so stepan here's what I'm asking you and pleading with you is to dig down and do some soul searching investigators located video evidence of Stefan disposing of several items into a dumpster at their apartment comp complex mty's backpack and school laptop would later be discovered inside that same dumpster famous I'm pleas because this that we need to find and it's as More Time Goes Around Goes by it's tough I have kids he's got kids and this little girls out there somewhere that you need to know and I really really really thank you to could I mean you want to get something off your chest I just don't know I don't know what it is but I'm pleading with you I don't know I don't what Happ I dropped her off where I dropped her off on the road to school the last I saw during the investigation police already searched Stefan's phone where they found more than 1,700 explicit images of Stefan abusing 13-year-old Maddie some dated back as far as 2020 indicating the child had been subjected to this horrifying nightmare for at the very least for years want understand that you gave the deputy's consent to look through your phone you didn't okay um and you voluntarily gave it to him so they could bring it here to do the extraction stuff like that okay what do you think was on the phone T messages text messages emails pictures what kind of pictures you on there training card pictures lightsaber pictures Disney pictures do you have a Google account yeah do you save pictures to your Google account sometimes or is it automatically I know sometimes phone syn to a cloud and yeah take it take it backs up here's what I'm going to be brutally honest with you there's phone and I'm pretty sure you know what some of those pictures are about you're you're very intelligent person I don't want you to discredit yourself by saying you don't know about all the pictures that are on your phone upon further investigation Stefan had allegedly done research on an anesthetic known as SE flurin which is more commonly used during surgery also when searching for the anesthetic he reportedly Googled the words show up in drug test and finally on the day matd went when missing he attempted to factory reset his phone but was clearly unsuccessful following his interrogation stepan was arrested and charged with battery and possession of child abuse material on March 1st only a few days later mty's body would be found in a wooded area near Hickory Tree Road in St Cloud Florida it appeared that she'd been cruy strangled to death before finding the Young Girl Detective sat down for an interview with Jennifer that very same day Matty's name's also been redacted from this interview I realized I forgot to take my meds and I said you guys I need a good night's sleep I need to take my meds um I sent them to sleep upstairs in the bath the guest bedroom so that I could get a good night's sleep while I was waiting for my blood work appointment and he let me know oh I'm so sorry I left my phone home by accident um School everything went work great she got up super early got up really quick when I on him at the house everything was normal we were chatting we were talking he was acting normal he was sitting in my computer chair just messing around his phone later on he tells me he's going to go back out and I think this is around 12:30 1:00 after leaving the apartment once again that afternoon reportedly Stefan got a flat tire while driving police then received a tip that someone had seen the suspect changing the tire right next to the area where Maddie was found the time I thought he was truly heartbroken and now that he had done all to her like I look back I'm just like lying what else has he been lying to me about I started saying to him like I think they're focusing in on you like we need to call your dad and I think we need to get you a Boyer um I feel like they're focusing on the wrong person and he kept saying the same thing how did he feel when you said he's a lawyer he didn't believe me like when I told him like don't see Bronx is closing down the house they know something or there's something like they know something something's happening they wouldn't be locking down the house this way if if if they didn't have suspicions of something the detectives find Jennifer's statements to be quite bizarre especially given the fact that at the time she has no idea where her daughter is yet she seemed to be more concerned about staffen but as the interview continues the investigators begin to turn up the pressure the police have showed you their hand they said stepan we want your phone stepan we want to talk to you you're going to lock down your residence you can't go back inside me I don't care if it's the love of my life sitting next to me I don't care if it's maternal grandmaw if the police come and take my mom's phone and my son's disappearance I'm not going to offer my mom a lawyer that's nuts to me that to me shows you prioritizing Stu because at that point you became more worried about him being falsely accused than any does that make sense what I'm saying whether or not that's what you felt does that make sense on the morning of Mattie's disappearance Stefan could be seen returning to the apartment complex at about 8:19 a.m. however it appeared that Maddie was also in the car in investigators believe the 13-year-old was already deceased at that time I think at one point no at one point you guys interviewed me and when you guys showed me the picture of her I believed the stuff but I didn't want to believe that he had done anything evil to her I'm like no what if she what if he did this stuff fine but what if she's still missing out there what if somebody took her I still wanted to believe his I I believed him I believed his whole story I was just like I kept repeating that part said what if what if she did get dropped off what if she got abducted what if she's missing um but that was me assuming that you guys had the wrong guy I wanted to think he was a good guy still but clearly he's not sadly Maddie suffered at the hands of Stefan for many years Jennifer however couldn't believe that her boyfriend would do such unimaginable things it just goes to show you can never be too careful with who you allow your kids to be around so you guys sleep in the same bed and she's in the center we've woken up and they're stuggling they're under the same blanket they're not under the same blanket no but just like she's got her blanket spooning for what how what is snuggling to you cuz to me stuggling spooning big spoon little spoon he would lay down like this and she would be right here in his in in the N it wasn't until June that he got his own bedroom and I sent him upstairs that's where the that's where the requests for sleepover started um and I I kep telling her no no no no no no no I'm not helpable with that I'm not comforable with that um but eventually at some point like we really want to watch I forgot what movie it was they really wanted to watch something and I was really tired and I said okay fine um go ahead but this can't happen often Jennifer stated that she rarely allowed her daughter to have as she puts it a slumber party with Stefan but the fact that she allowed it even once makes the det IV all the more suspicious of her what do you think made him s what I've heard is what if what if she upset him and threatened to tell me and say that she was going to tell me and she needed to shut that down that's the only thing what do you think I believe I don't want to believe you children her he tell me he want some children every Sunday night and suck her body out in the morning but outside of you reporting her missing and I may be wrong I haven't been involved in all aspects of it but you have not shown me one bit that you prioritize her over him and that sucks not because we're working our for your family not because we have people out there sweating off for your family but because I feel like all I care about is make sure Stan doesn't getable the detectives here are probably thinking that Jennifer knows something about her daughter's whereabouts but the mother adamantly denies she had any involvement still the detectives turn up the heat once again I don't care anymore anymore because we're being because I'm not being nice but up until Thursday it was okay that she gave big deal get a lawyer no it wasn't it wasn't okay I was honestly I saw that and I was in shock and I don't know why my first reaction was to tell him to get a lawyer but I saw that and I was in shock and I was just like I don't know what to believe I don't know what to believe it's easy to believe it now we showed you pictures of it you can't deny it anymore sex is okay the murder's not at least at least that makes sense okay she needs to be laid to rest your family needs to be able to mourn her and we need that information according to Jennifer she has no idea where her daughter is but investigators would find Maddie soon enough and at this point it was more than obvious as to who may have committed this monstrous act shortly after Stefan was charged with first-degree murder along with 8 counts will battery on a child Under 12 5 counts battery with a child age 12 to 18 7 counts of lwd and lascivious molestation and 40 counts of unlawful possession of materials depicting performance by a child with 10 or more images in 2025 he'll face two trials one in February and one in September if convicted prosecutors in the case reportedly are seeking the death penalty there are always monsters hiding just around the corner but what if it happens to be your own mother well that was exactly the case on November 6 2019 where Florida police were dispatched to a Jacksonville resident after receiving a distressing 911 call what's going on I do not know where my daughter is did she run away no where was she last seen here with [Laughter] me as officers arrive at the home they immediately notice a distinct decomposition smell coming from a car in the driveway but they become even more skeptical while speaking to the mother it's Happ I woke up have you had any problems with anybody okay um anything unusual any okay uh do you live by yourself okay uh any problems with anyone else as far as light skin dark skinn brown skin okay okay did she have any medical issues or anything like that that was 27-year-old Brianna Williams at the time her 5-year-old daughter Taylor Williams was missing she claimed that after waking up that morning she couldn't locate Taylor and supposedly found the back door to the house was unlocked has she done this before as far as anything like tried to leave or get out or mess with locks or anything like that okay and as far as you no problems with anyone like out of the ordinary any neighbors anything like that okay um have you recently taken any parks or anything okay show me which door was locked real quick or unlocked was it was it the back door [Applause] okay okay when'd you move in wa that's what I is but the get break Brianna stated that she moved into the home only a few days prior before that she and Taylor were living in a Southside apartment based on her statement it's like her toddlers just vanished but things just weren't adding up told three three foot I guess uh let's say brown skin I I'll put out bolo in a second and she was wearing purple what was she wearing last pink purle pink and purple pajamas this she have any scars or anything okay um okay um and the pink purple pajamas were they full length or half length like a t-shirt t-shirt okay Brianna claimed that she and her daughter had recently visited Brianna's parents in Alabama just a short time before this however investigators were told by their parents that they'd not seen the pair for quite some time is she in school ma'am no she's not in school yet any other family members that would have come and got her no no other family members did she know that she ever run off like this before no 10 54 nothing like this no history and y'all have torn that house apart I didn't even go in the house I was just getting information my mom Chad went in the house already he's doing a canvas go in the house go ahead in the house and tear that house apart make sure she's not hiding somewhere in that house Temple and I'm on my way but you tear that house apart Temple I got you all right all right I'll be there Tempo I'll be right back okay all right after failing to locate Taylor inside the home investigators decided to search Brianna's old apartment they would eventually find blood stains feal matter soiled children's clothing and partially open cans of soup while also noticing a smell of Decay testing confirmed that Taylor's DNA was found in the blood they would officially name Brianna a person of interest you know now they're saying that you're a person of interest now yeah I mean mean why would it oh oh open door open the door open the door according to reports Taylor hadn't been in daycare since April of that year and unfortunately the next time anyone would see her it would be under the most tragic of circumstances sadly on November 12th Taylor's remains were located in a wooded area of moringo County Alabama an autopsy revealed signs of trauma Mount nourishment and disease investigators alleged that Brianna tortured and maliciously caged or punished daughter between the months of April and November before being reported missing the mother was taken into custody and eventually brought before a judge in considering the allegations of second-degree murder the evidence before the court is that the victim was not valued from the time of conception by either her father or mother that her mother suffered the defendant from an eating disorder the the father complained that uh the victim was not being properly fad the defendant then removed the victim from daycare approximately 4 months to the victim prior to the victim's death uh Taylor remained home alone and unprovided for throughout that time period it was no significant purchase of groceries during that time period there were some fast food purchases but no more no significant food in the home of the apartment the food present in the refrigerator was unfit to eat besides the disturbing evidence found in Brianna's home inside the mother's car investigators also located feal matter soiled clothing and dead maggots suspiciously after reporting her daughter missing Brianna stopped cooperating with police but she couldn't escape the consequences for too long there were a photo submitted for the Court's consideration and I did notice a change in the child's appearance particularly immediate the surrounding the time of death she appeared small and as if she were losing weight according to her testimony she found Taylor Rose slumped over in a closet unresponsive and she knew that she was dead thereafter the defendant act failed to report the death of her daughter she then lied to law enforcement repeatedly over the course of the investigation in order to conceal what she had done which was to transport the body out of state and dispose of the body which this court constr as a consciousness of guilt there is evidence in the record then to draw a reasonable inference that although Firearms were present and blood splatter was documented in the bathroom uh the death was in all probability a consequence of starvation according to records the suspect drove to Alabama on October 31st November 1st and November 2nd and finally returned to Florida in the early morning hours of November 3rd on that same day she placed an ad- on Craigslist looking for help to move out of her apartment the couple that helped her move reportedly stated that they did not see a child with a mother in 2022 after pleading guilty to the murder of her own daughter Brianna was sentenced to life in prison the community still mourning the tragic loss of 5-year-old Taylor thankfully police figured out that these individuals who pretended to be the victims were actually The Killers it does make you wonder how many similar cases have yet to be solved and also how many murderers have lied
