I'm not giving you him. Mom, are you serious? Are youing serious? Mom. Mom, why would you do this? Look what you're doing to my kids. >> Look what you're doing to my >> Stop. Listen to me. Stop reaching in the car. Stop reaching in the car. Stop. >> Run in the house. They're going to shoot mine now. A [Applause] >> turn over on your stomach. >> As a parent, your main responsibility is to protect your children. But when parents go rogue and put their children in danger, it's up to the police to step in and save the day. And although their parents don't consider cops heroes, neglected children are thankful when good cops step in to protect them from their evil mothers. On April 27th, 2024, police officers in Washington were dispatched to a Safeway following reports of a shoplifting in progress involving a woman, Tanya, with her young baby. Although most parents will do anything to keep their children out of harm's way, she didn't seem to worry about her child's safety. about my son. >> Stop it. >> Let me go. We'll take a six king and we'll take >> that. >> The woman's attempt to escape was ridiculous. Attempting to push her child in a stroller through a group of police officers and security guards was not only stupid, but downright dangerous. As a result, the officers wasted no time getting the suspect, Tanya, in cuffs and away from her child. >> Do you have any weapons on you that I need to know about? No, >> I'm not going to deal. >> Okay. >> I can't breathe. >> Why not? Consequence of your actions hurt. Is that what it is? Okay, we're going to take a seat in my car. What are you doing? What are you doing? You're still going to sit in my car. I don't This act I don't really care for. So, >> okay, cool. The officers read Tanya her Miranda rights. Given that she put her child in direct danger, the officers had little sympathy for her. Next, they spoke to witnesses to gain an understanding of what transpired before they arrived. And let's just say it was as ridiculous as you would think. >> Um, I just seen the baby like getting tipped and like thrashed around in the stroller >> by the mother. >> We're trying to help. They were trying to stop the shoplookers what it was. >> There wasn't a moment where her hand wasn't on the stroller and she wasn't trying to get away from the security guards that he wasn't being thrashed or being neglected as far as >> she was saying. >> Um, no, he was safe. >> I'm sorry. >> Yeah. Don't touch my son. Uh, gave me my son back. She almost stroller over over there uh trying to steal the bags of him. Um, and then over here she knocked him over. Absolut like all the way over and the guy, the black guy that just walked outside, he actually caught him before he hit the floor. >> The officers inspected the goods that Tanya attempted to steal and asked a clerk to tally up the items and provide them with a receipt. Shortly after, EMS arrived on the scene to examine the child. Meanwhile, the officers had more questions for Tanya, but she wasn't being very helpful. >> Before we go any further with stuff, you're That's your child, correct? Is that correct? >> What? >> Ma'am, >> that's your child. >> Okay. Is there anyone else that can come get your child? Not that I know of. >> Not that you know of. Okay. Well, you are under arrest. So, what's going to happen is we're going to have to remove your child and contact CPS. >> Huh? >> If you don't have anyone that can come get your child, we're going to have to contact CPS. >> Okay. >> Huh? >> CPS. >> Okay. Well, we we're going to reach out to CPS. After the officer closed the door and walked away, Tanya mumbled for help, claiming that she was pregnant and had swallowed a handful of street slang for. Although the officers suspected she was putting on a show, they asked EMS to assess her condition. >> Looks like mom is probably just going to end up going to hospital at large. She asked no one else to come get the child. So, we're going to have to do the child rem, >> but we're going to have to have someone sit with the child. So, that's going to be removed, too. So, we're just going to have to go to the hospital. >> What's the crime? >> An obstruction. But she said that she's pregnant and swallowed drugs. an hour. And then with this child, she does we don't have anybody that can come get the child. >> Okay. >> The officers learned that Tanya had multiple warrants, including one for shoplifting. But due to the fact that she claimed she had swallowed narcotics, getting her to the hospital was the officer's first priority, with jail as a close second. [Music] Oh, you're hurting me. I'm pregnant. I'm hurting me. >> I'm pregnant. You're hurting me. >> Oh, Jesus. Why are you being like that? >> There's no reason for you to fall. >> I can't. I'm stuck. >> Sit in the seat. Can you act like an adult, please? Hey, ma'am. I understand you don't feel well and that you're pregnant, so I don't want to rip you and pull you into this car, but I will. >> You need to We are, >> but you need to stand up and sit your butt down before I have to physically remove you. >> I'm trying. >> Okay. >> Put your feet on the roof and push your top up. >> I'm trying. >> Okay. Would you like assistance? Cuz I will assist you. There you go. Okay. Rotate your butt upwards. >> Sit up on your bottom. >> There you go. Stay right there. >> Officers informed Tanya that they were taking her to the hospital while simultaneously taking her child to CPS. It's a position that no parent wants to be put in. But Tanya had no one to blame but herself for her predicament. Hey Tanya, so we're here at the hospital. And look, we're at the hospital. I'm not here playing any games with you. So don't do any of that [ __ ] you've been doing. You're walking in the hospital. You're not right. >> I get it. You need help. We're going to get you help. Come on. >> If you be cool with me, I'm going to be cool with you. Although Tanya agreed to be cool and cooperative with the officer, she was anything but. The moment nursing staff finished treating her and gave her the all clear to be transported to jail, Tanya flew into a panic, playing the victim. >> You're breaking the law right now. >> I can't breathe. >> Hey, were you able to park your car? >> I can't breathe. That's my son. >> You have to get the dog on me and hurting my stomach. I'm pregnant. I have lice and I have AIDS and I'm a pregnant woman and I told you this is pressing my stomach. I don't care. It's pressing my stomach. You have to get off my stomach. I'm a pregnant woman. >> I know I am a pregnant woman and you have to get this off of my stomach. >> I have wife and I have AIDS. Did you tell the hospital that? Did you tell the jail that I'm a pregnant woman? And this is wrong for you guys to treat me like this. And I asked for a kid to get judge and you did not give me one. That is illegal. He didn't even read me my Miranda rights. Neither have you guys. That is illegal. >> Your murder. You have to write them in silent. >> It's too late. It's still a lawsuit. >> I have time to talk to your lawyer. >> I have asked for my lawyer this entire time. >> Hire a lawyer. >> I already have one and I've asked to call him this whole time and he hasn't let me use the phone. >> And you can decide and time to exercise his rights to not answer any questions or make any statements >> and he hasn't let me. >> Did you understand any of that? Yeah. Did you understand that it's illegal for him to not give me a rick when I've been asking for one the whole time I've been here? >> So, it's Tanya. Yeah. >> I have been asking for >> and I I'm pregnant and this is on my stomach. >> Her claim that the officers didn't read her Miranda rights earlier was a blatant lie. And the officers had the body cam footage to prove it. >> Okay. >> You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can't be used against you in a court of law. >> If she had simply forgotten, it was probably because she was too busy playing the victim. To address her other request, the officers told her that once they were at the police station, she could contact a lawyer and get a rape kit. >> She didn't ever ask me those questions >> because he never read me my Miranda rightites for one. And for two, I'm a pregnant woman and I need you to get this off of my stomach, >> right? >> Okay. And you guys have a huge bastard on your hands just so you know. And I have to use the bathroom. And you cannot carry me into the jail like this with my whole >> legs hurt. >> You have to It's hurting my stomach. It's hurting my stomach. >> No, it's hurting my stomach. And I'm pregnant. Stop. You're hurting me. I have to use the bathroom. I have to use the bathroom. >> I'm going to piss all over this back seat. I have to use the bathroom. I have to. I've been asking to use the bathroom the whole time. I'm pregnant women. You're pressing on my stomach. What am I supposed to do? >> What am I supposed to do? You are refusing me to get off my kit. I was a rape and you're refusing to give me your kit. What is wrong with you? I am a pregnant woman and I'm about to pick the price of my son. >> You don't want to do that. >> I told you. >> Tanya was charged with theft, neglect of a child, obstructing official business, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of a controlled substance. While Tanya was being treated at the hospital, she ingested two pills of fel that she had been concealing, but she was medically cleared after being treated again. Her one-year-old baby was taken into protective custody by CPS. On August 1st, 2023, police officers were dispatched to a residence following reports that a woman was threatening her mother and becoming increasingly violent. When the officers arrived on the scene, the suspect had already fled down the street with her toddler in her arms. Fortunately, she didn't get far before the officers caught up with her. >> I got >> Mom, why the would you do this? >> Let the child >> Why the would you do this? >> Stop. >> No. Let go of me right now. You have a child in your arms and you're acting like this. >> Are you serious? >> What are you doing? She did this. >> This is not helping the situation. >> Are you serious right now? >> Mom, are you serious? >> No. >> Give me Give me the baby. >> No, I'm not giving you him. Mom, are you serious? Are youing serious? Mom. Mom, why would you do this? Look what you're doing to my kids. Look what you're doing to my kids. >> No. No. Stop resisting. >> Concerned for the child's safety, the officers didn't waste any time getting the woman into cuffs. The fact that she was angry that her mother took her child while she was being arrested said a lot. It seemed as though she thought she could use her child as a shield to protect herself from getting arrested. >> Look what you're doing to my kid. >> I hate you. I hate you. >> You got her. >> I'mma you up. I'mma you up. I'mma you up. >> 221. >> Hold on. Let me just turn my No, >> I can have my phone. >> Can I write down some numbers before my phone dies? >> Can you write down the number before my phone dies? >> Hello? Can you write down somebody's number before my phone dies? >> You want to do a favor when you're acting like this? >> Okay, I will get up. Can you please just write down a number before my phone dies? Contrary to what she might have thought, she was not allowed to use her cell phone while she was being arrested and placed in handcuffs. She was also not in the position to ask favors. Following the altercation, the officers read the woman her rights and stood her up. >> Can I get somebody's phone number out there before my phone dies? >> What's wrong with you? >> Bro, this is what she does. This is what she do. I was cooking dinner. She didn't start with me. This is what she do. Y'all know this. I hate that. I hate her. I literally hate that. >> Who do you want? Matt. >> Yes, please. Just write down his number. >> Becca, >> go to done. Hit done right there. And then Jesse's, please. >> Like, y'all know this is what she do. Like, y'all know I've been doing good. No. Y'all know I've been doing good for years. This is [ __ ] But >> don't run. >> No. This is [ __ ] >> With us. >> You're running with a child. >> I'm actually doing this. Oh, she left with my kid, bro. All you had to do is stop. >> No way. So I could go to jail. If I can go to jail. >> I don't even know what you would have done. >> Bro, anybody? We know there was a a potential scuffle between you and your mom. That's all we knew. >> As is often the case, the woman played the victim, insisting she had done nothing wrong. Arguing with her mother wasn't a crime, but fleeing the scene before police arrived suggested there was more to the story than she led on. >> So, what am I being arrested for? >> You have a warrant now. You're obstructing. You have a warrant. took off running when I pulled up and said, "Abby, stop >> because this is bullshit." I'm I hate her. Like, I hate her. I literally hate her, guys. Like, I'm just doing good. Like, this is [ __ ] >> I know. We haven't dealt with you in a long time. >> Okay. So, why are y'all treating me like this? Like, >> took off running with a child in your >> I was jogging. I can run with tell you to stop. >> He said Abby. >> Yeah. And you looked right at me. >> You said Abby. You didn't say stop right away. >> No, I said Abby, stop. And then that's when you took off. >> So then if that's your story, go ahead. >> Ain't nothing in there. I'm just >> The woman tried to play semantics, insisting that the officer only shouted her name, not explicitly told her to stop. So according to her, she just kept jogging away. It was a ridiculous excuse to dodge a fleeing and evading charge, but it wasn't going to work. >> What even happened? Bro, I was just in there cooking dinner and she just came and started on me. >> Dad just got me a piece of hug worthless. Just remind me of my past. It's like very mentally exhausting. It's just getting old. Like I'm just tired of it. Like I moved back here to save up money because I've been living I've had my three-bedroom house for three years now and like it just got tiring being a single mom having to pay all the bills and everything. So, I moved back to my mom to save money and this been nothing but hell. >> While there was no doubt that being a single mom was hard, it didn't give her the right to disobey law enforcement. Police officers can't enforce the law based on an individual's circumstances and background. That's not the way the law works. >> You're in there cooking. She calls you names. >> Yes. >> Obviously, she obviously sets you off. Okay, just let me talk for a second. Then from there >> I was >> What does anything physically happen? Is she going to have any injuries? Is she going to tell me you hit her or anything like that? >> Okay. >> I just was begging on the door like open the door and let me get my kids. She's like no you're not taking him nowhere. I said I have custody of my kid. Like you can't tell me what I can and cannot do with my kid like at all. And then that's she's like if you try taking them I'm going to call the police. And so that's when she called y'all. >> Why did you decide you want to take off? because she's so annoying. I'm just sick of it. Like I hate her. Like I hate her and I'm not going to lie. Like I have a warrant in Barber right now. Just um >> we we were notified of that. >> I'm sure you were like >> things became clearer. The woman fled the scene when her mother called the police because she had a warrant. It wasn't because her mother called her names. It wasn't because they argued. It was because she didn't want to go to jail. What's the charge in relation to? >> Um well well so when I I had an OBI and then they told me they when they sentenced me they told me like if you catch any like just don't catch any charges in the next two years. I was like okay. Like I didn't know that means I was on probation or anything. So they're like if you Yeah. If you catch any charges you'll be in trouble. I didn't know that. And so I got disorderly conduct because the person that was living was with me put her hands on me and like and so I called the police and then they came and I was recording them and stuff because they were like she was like trying to make it seem like it was my fault so I was recording so they took me to jail for I think disorderly conduct and yeah I think that's it. And then that was I guess a probation violation. I didn't even know I was on probation. They told me not to get in trouble for two years. The idea that she didn't know she was on probation was ridiculous. Police officers don't make a habit of arresting and charging suspects, then releasing them without informing them of the terms and conditions of their probation. After the officers placed the suspect in the back of their cruiser, they spoke to her mother. >> So, she moved in here because she lost her place up there and um she's been driving without a license for like a long time, but she bullies me and takes my car. So, I said, "I'm not paying for it anymore." So, I had it repossessed. I'm just like, "I'm this done." So, I told her nicely said, "They're coming to get the car tonight and um we'll just figure something else out." And she just like flipped was like, "I have all these messages saying she's going to beat my ass and she hopes I die." And like I've said nothing but help her whole entire life and I'm tired of it, you know? So, I've been trying to protect him and try to keep the peace. She just does whatever she wants to do. And I saw >> Is that the keys that were in one of the bags? >> Were they to the car? >> I don't know. Did you find anything else in them bags? >> No. >> That's a shocker. >> The woman told the officer that when she was on the phone with the police, her daughter fled, then returned to get her child, kicking at her door. When she let her in, she said her daughter took the phone from her, threw it in the backyard, grabbed her child, and took off down the street where the police caught up with her. So, I mean like I have messages where she's threatening me. >> The things that she's the things that she's saying in there. Do you want to pursue criminal charges for menacing? >> I mean, she lives here. So, domestic. >> I just hate to keep more charges on her, but then it's just she's going to come back here and just keep doing that. She's like literally going to beat the fl out of you. I'm going to you up. If I come back there without auntie's car right now, I'm going to up. I literally will beat the brakes off of you. I'm about to you up. I'm I'm out. I'm leaving town. >> Is that something that's common for her to do to say? Yeah, but I'm asking questions. >> Yeah, I mean that she told me that every day, >> right? >> I mean, so >> I mean, I don't know. Can I just speak about it >> for tonight? >> There'll be a report already made though, just so you know. It just depend on what we do with it. >> But you can give us a call. call him here till 6:00 in the morning and we can figure out what we're going to do with it. >> Okay. >> Thank you. >> All right. >> The suspect was charged with obstruction and menacing. >> On January 1st, 2025, deputies with the St. Petersburg Police Department responded to a call regarding a strong armed robbery. According to the reports, a female suspect forcibly stole $35 from the victim's pocket before taking off on foot, leaving her baby behind in a stroller, but eventually returned to the scene to collect the infant. >> She attacked me, sir. >> Leave your baby alone. >> Stop. Hey, grab her right arm. >> Thank you. >> Lay down now. >> Get attacked me. She attacked me. Put your arm behind your back. >> She attacked me. She attacked me. No, she attacked me. >> Don't move. >> We're 15. >> Stand up. >> The officers cuffed and searched the suspect, Marissa. All the while, she kept asking the officers where they were taking her baby. It was ironic that now she cared so much about the safety of her child, considering she had just brought her along as she committed a robbery. >> Where you bring my baby to? Please stop. >> Where are you bringing my baby to? >> You did not care about your baby when you were committing a robbery to a man at Taco Bell. >> That's not what happened. He took my money and then attacked me with my baby. It's on camera. Oh, that's what we're going to court about? Cuz that's on camera. That is on camera. That man attacked me. >> I watched the camera. >> Can you please bring her? >> Be quiet. >> Okay. >> If you If you think that we're If you think that we're not going to take care of your kid, you're out of your mind. We're going to take care of your your kid a lot better than you have been doing. >> No, that's not true. That's not true. She only It's me. >> Marissa was putting on an act, but the officers weren't buying it. No one who truly cares about their child would put them in such a ridiculous situation. Although it seemed like she was willing to cooperate, when the officers went to search her, she had a change of heart. >> That was unbelievable. >> What are you trying to do? What are you trying to do? On what planet do you think you're going to get away from me? >> Lean up against the car. Like I said, if you try and run again, I'm going to put you right on your face on the ground. Got it. >> Let go. >> Goodness gracious. Now you're going to charge with escape. >> You're broken my Stop. >> No, my face. You're broken my [ __ ] Stop. >> No, my face. Please get off of me >> now. a battery in a law law enforcement officer. Just search her while she's on the ground, please. >> There was a good chance it was quite possibly the worst escape attempt the officer had ever witnessed. As he pointed out, her child could see everything that was going on. The last thing the officer wanted to do was get physical with her in front of her child, but she left them no choice. >> If you take anything into jail, that's going to be another charge. Do you understand that? freaking kicking me. It's ridiculous, man. >> You don't have anything on you. What's this in your left breast? >> Left breast, bro. >> I'm already bleeding in my face. >> Oh, my face is already bleeding and >> I'm already hurt. >> Stay there. I am. Yes. >> Head up. >> The officer loaded Marissa into the back of a squad car and transported her to the police station for further processing. The arresting officer was so shocked by her resistance during her arrest that after reading her rights, he genuinely wanted to know what she was going through. >> What is going on that that that we we got to this position? What's what's wrong? I work at I've been working there for a year. I've been doing really good. My mom I had my baby daddy come over and um he does recreational and stuff. So she she like she like was mad that I said don't talk to her because the way she like treats me and acts I don't I didn't want her around me. >> Okay. >> Um so then she kept going to my grandma and got me kicked out and I literally >> When did you get kicked out? >> That's the then last night. And I ain't get no sleep. You >> got kicked out last night. >> I'm sleepd deprived. I literally I would never do my baby like that. I feel like the dumbest person in the whole world. >> Marissa may very well have been going through a hard time. But that wasn't an excuse to break the law and resist arrest. She said the whole thing was a big misunderstanding, claiming that she didn't rob anyone at all. According to her, the man took her money and she simply took it back from him. And then I go in there and he whiskers, "I took your money." >> And then and then you went you went in his pocket. Did you go in which pocket did you go in? His left pocket. >> I I I don't even know. >> Left or right? >> Well, you're you're right. It is on video >> and he was kept beating on me and then even when I >> Well, you did did you you took his money and ran outside, right? >> But then I came back in and gave it back and he still came out. >> Well, you gave it back to him outside, right? >> Yeah. >> Okay. And then you came cuz you left your baby. I gave it back to him with the same girl who I know who was watching her. >> Well, you left the baby in the stroller. >> Yeah. And she said she was watching her. Remember what? >> Yeah. She She picked She picked the She picked your baby up >> because she didn't know if you were coming back. >> No, she knew I was. I said I said I said >> The point The point being is that you left your baby inside when you ran outside with the money, right? >> No. >> Yes. >> I left her with somebody where earlier you already knew. >> No, I'm I'm not saying anything. What I'm saying is that >> I wasn't >> You went into You went into the man's pocket >> because he said he took my money and there's already police report on it. >> And that's fine. I I understand what you're saying. Okay. >> And I shouldn't have did that. I shouldn't have tried to get it back. >> You definitely shouldn't have. Right. And then you shouldn't have ran outside leaving your baby inside. >> No, I was right there at the door. You can see on camera. I wasn't all the way. >> Yeah. You're outside the door, but he just got to you and stopped you. >> Yeah. Marissa denied abandoning her baby, claiming instead that she had left her with a friend before returning to pick her up. But no matter how you looked at it, no responsible parent would do that. The officer wanted to know where she went when she fled the scene. >> Okay. So, where did you go from there? Like, I saw you walk north on Fourth Street by the time I got there. >> Um, I was actually on the way to my grandma's to get the rest of my stuff and then >> And your grandma's over on 21st. >> Uh-huh. The address I gave. >> The address you gave me? Mhm. >> So you go over there. What happened? >> And then my mom comes out and beats on me. Says I took her to charge. I didn't take anything. >> Okay. >> I don't know how they're missing or >> Well, your mom didn't call us. >> I know that. >> Okay. >> You told me that when you came. >> Yeah. >> And um all that and then I was uh I was I was leaving even though I didn't have nowhere. I was going to ask the bus driver and I was just >> How did you get back over to your mom's? >> Um I got a ride. >> Okay. So, somebody somebody picked you up and dropped you off? >> No. Oh, yeah. Somebody I knew, a friend picked me up. I called them >> and then my phone died right after that. >> Yeah. I tried to call you. >> Marissa was concerned that child protective services would get involved and there was no doubt that would be the case. Due to her actions, the officer had no choice but to inform CPS. >> So, I try to get out with you and you try to reach for her to put her to put her in front of you. >> I wanted to give her a hug. I knew I wasn't going to see her and you like really really hurt me and it shows on my >> But why But why would you But why would you try and pick her up when you know that I'm when you know that I'm going to arrest you? >> I knew I wasn't going to see her. >> Do you think that I would Do you think that if >> you if you just complied? >> If you just complied with me, do you think that I would have let you say bye to your daughter? >> No. >> Really? >> Because the police you weren't part of you weren't there last time I sent that to Aren't you one of them? >> No. No, >> I don't know anything about you. I met you for the first time today. >> Last time they the way they took my son was really bad. >> Okay. Well, I if you would have just complied, I promise you. >> And then you started grabbing you really hard and I didn't even mean to kick you. It's just >> Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. Hold on. >> No, it's on my wrist. So, we can hold on. But the marks are on my wrist right now. >> That's from when you tried to run and escape. Okay. >> What's on your wrist? >> That's That's from you twisting handcuffs on my skin. No, there is. There's already pictures. You see that right there? Despite Marissa's claim that she didn't mean to kick the officer, it was caught on body cam that when the officer was searching her, she deliberately unleashed a fury of backward kicks directed right at him. She even had the nerve to claim that she never tried to run while she was in cuffs. >> Why did you kick me? >> I did not. I didn't. You grab You were grabbing me up. >> But why did you kick me? >> I did not kick you. >> You're broken my Stop. No, >> you were grabbing me up and it was a reflex. I said, "Ow." >> And I moved my body. No, you Yeah, you had my hand. Is it on camera how you had my arm? >> I I got everything. >> You were yanking it up and kept going >> and yanking it more and then it was like a reflex. >> Well, okay. >> You So you didn't have my arm one arm up and then like yanking me up like >> So you're saying that I caused you to kick me? >> No, what I'm saying is it it was like me moving. I was like, "Oh, you're get you're hurting me really bad." And I moved and you're like, "You kicked me." >> No, everybody saw it. >> The camera >> The cameras will see it as well. >> You're broken my That's good. >> Yeah. >> Marissa had an excuse for everything. But as the officer said, it was all captured on body cam. She went on to explain that the reason she fled was so she could pick up her baby and give her a hug before going to jail. >> All right, here's the deal. All right, everything else is on everything. Everything in this, everything that you've done is on camera. >> I know that. That's why I'm the judge is going to be >> We should We should probably maybe show some remorse. >> I definitely have a lot. I feel like >> I mean, you put you put your daughter in that position twice trying to fight with cops right on the side of the roadway. >> I was, but I do feel really stupid and dumb and I already missed my baby. >> I would have let you say bye to your baby. I should have never had to. I should >> with without a doubt. >> No, I'm saying I shouldn't even have tried to take things into my own hands. I shouldn't have tried to grab my money back. I'm I'm wrong. >> Cuz you don't even know if that that >> No, he whispered, "Yes, I do." He whispered at me and said, "I took your money." Yes, sir. >> Okay. All right. >> Marissa was arrested and found guilty of battery on a law enforcement officer, possession of meamines, petty theft, and resisting arrest without violence. As a result, she was sentenced to 60 days in jail, ordered to pay $1,450 in costs and fees, and got her driver's license suspended for 6 months. On December 6th, 2024, police officers were dispatched to a hotel because two children, ages 1 and three, have been left unsupervised in a room for several hours. When officers arrived, they found the children. While discussing how to handle the situation, the neglectful mother casually walked through the door and greeted them. >> Oh, there. >> Hi. >> Hi. >> So, can you tell me what's going on? >> Yeah, we got called cuz your kids were by themselves. >> Uh, no, they weren't. >> Who was here then? >> My sister was just here. >> Okay. They weren't here for the last 30 minutes when the worker came and checked. So, that's why we're here. Baby was like grabbing at that he needs a diaper change. I've at least been here for 12 minutes and the person who called had been here for some time before calling. So, >> this is ridiculous, honestly. >> Okay. So, you have to stay in the room now. >> I'm I'm waiting because you keep going out there and I need to make sure these kids are good because you weren't here for like 30 minutes or no one was here. An adult was not here for 30 minutes with them. According to the mother, Deja, while Dalon, the father of her children, was at the gas station, she needed to run a quick errand and left her sister in charge of the kids. >> What I understood is Dalen went to the gas station. Can you start from there? When Dalon left to the gas station, where were you? >> I went outside at first and then I let my sister in. I was up here for a little and then I left for about 30 to 40 minutes. >> Okay. And your sister? >> Mhm. >> Okay. in the room. You physically saw her in the room with the kids before leaving? >> Yes. >> Okay. And where did you go? >> Is this supposed to be like am I going to be arrested? Like what's going on? >> I'm just trying to figure out what happened right now. We walked into a room where kids are by themselves. I'm just trying to figure out what's going on like 30 minutes. But I understand. And were they was one of them sleeping? >> Neither one of them was sleeping. >> Okay. Cuz she just checked on the morning. She was sleeping. But yeah, I I I think I've explained enough to the other officers. So, I've already had DCFS call on me before, and I know how this goes. >> While it may have been true that her sister was keeping an eye on the children, the officers were obviously put off by Deja's attitude, she wasn't even horrified to learn that her children were left unattended. >> You left and where'd you go? >> I went back down through this way. >> Okay. You You stayed in the hotel? >> No, I left. Okay. >> 30 to 40 minutes. >> Okay. Where'd you go? >> I went to make an errand. >> Where would that be? >> In Elgen. That was just pretty specific. >> I would like to know where you went. Yes. >> I want to go handle some business >> somewhere close to here. Where is it? >> It's about 15 minutes at at the most away. >> Did you drive there? >> No, I had a ride. >> You had a ride. Who'd you ride with? >> I think his names. >> You happen to have a last name? >> No. Yeah, it was requested for me. >> Is that like an Uber service? Who requested that for you? >> My sister. >> Do you know is right now? >> No, I don't. Probably at work. >> Okay. What time she usually go to work? >> She has different shifts. They rotate and it's peak season so I don't know. >> With Deja dodging the question as to her whereabouts, she only made the officers more suspicious. The officers knew that they would eventually find out where she had gone. So for the time being, they dropped the question. At the moment, their main concern was the safety of the children. >> You going to take our kids? >> So So again, >> let's not make this any more complicated than needs to be. The kids are going to the hospital to get checked out by a medical professional because our investigations reveal that they've been left here alone since 1:30 p.m. which is completely unacceptable. We have an obligation to make sure that the kids are in a good medical condition and so we are going to make sure that they're examined at a hospital and we're going to call DCFS for further direction. That's that's what it is. >> So, do we get our kids back after the hospital? >> We're going to have to call DCFS is going to make that determination. We're going to have to call DCFS >> and I'm supposed to like trust that you guys are going to You can trust us. Believe me, we will do a good job of of making sure that your kids are cared for. Okay. >> The couple were upset that they wouldn't be able to accompany their children to the hospital. What they failed to realize is that the situation was a result of their own poor decisions. However, the children weren't the only ones who would be making an unexpected trip with the officers that day. >> Why don't you come on out here with us? >> Why does he need to go in the hallway? >> He needs to talk to these officers. Come on, please. Let's go. >> We'll let you make a phone call. You're making this more complicated. >> Corroborating is making you guys take my kids. No, don't say because this is >> in the hallway now. Okay. In the hallway. >> No, no, no, no. It's okay. I'm going back. >> I'm going. I'm going. For what? >> Just put them on your back. >> For what? >> For what? >> Me? >> No. I had my sister here. >> She wasn't here. The video shows she wasn't. >> Okay. >> You can't lie with the video. >> I don't give a You guys had to see everything. Okay. from a beginning to see how many people enter these doors. Okay, >> I did. >> Okay, >> I did. >> Okay, >> there was no say. Did you guys call them yet? >> We're calling them. We're dealing with you guys first. >> What? >> Police. They're taking me to jail. >> For what? >> For indeed. >> Deja continued to proclaim her innocence. Playing the victim card, she claimed that the officers were abusing their power. It was extremely telling how the whole time she showed no concern for the children or remorse for the fact that they were abandoned for several hours. >> It's [ __ ] It is [ __ ] >> What's [ __ ] is leaving? >> No, no, no. You guys cannot do this. >> You came here. >> We were called here. We didn't come here because we just decided to stroll in here. We were called by the hotel because you made a bad decision to leave your kids home alone. That's what it was. That's not >> You can make excuses all you want, but the reality is is you committed a crime and we have an obligation to make sure that your kids are okay. >> If you think it's okay to leave your kids in a in a hotel room by themselves for 3 hours, if you think that that's okay, that's a rational thing in your head, then you have some serious problems because we have probable cause to believe that these kids were left unattended in a hotel room at age 2 and four, which is completely unacceptable under any circumstance. >> One and four. One and three. >> Sorry. one and three left them in a hotel room and then you want to get upset with us like this is our problem that we created. No, no, no. We didn't create this problem. We are now forced to deal with it because you guys made a bad decision. And I'm not trying to talk down to you or belittle you. But there there is a point in time when we need to take some self responsibility for our actions and this is unaccept. And when unacceptable things happen and criminal law is broken, we have an obligation as the police to do what we need to do. >> Deja deserved to be called out. Leaving young children alone is never acceptable and she needed to hear it. There was no doubt that it was embarrassing for her, but someone had to say it. Unfortunately, the officer's advice went in one ear and out the other. >> I'm asking what is the consecutive time that I have to be >> there is no set timeline. It's what's reasonable. >> So, if I leave for 10 minutes and I go outside, smoke a blunt and I come back in, that's unacceptable. >> It depends on the circumstances. That's not the circumstances we're dealing with right now. The circumstances we're dealing with are that the kids were left alone for 3 plus hours. So that >> you guys took my kids. So now how am I like this is crazy. So someone's going to stay with me the whole night and make sure they're going to tell me that you update with my daughter. >> That's not the plan. >> So what's the plan? >> We're going to be with you so that if you have questions about what what's going on, we're going to share that. >> What's the plan? >> The plan is you're going to be going down to the police station with us to address this. >> Damn it. I'm getting arrested, too. >> Yes, you both are >> because they they're saying that they have evidence. The judge will see everything. I've already had this this exact same thing going on. >> And we're not saying you're guilty of anything. We're saying we have problem. You're guilty until proven. >> We're saying you have probable cause for your arrest for endangering the life and health of a child. Actually, two counts because there's two children involved. That's what I'm telling you. I'm not I'm not trying to tell you that you're guilty of anything. That's for the courts to decide. But we have an obligation when innocent children are involved in a case that we have to do everything line by line to the book. And I would not be doing your children a service if I just left them here with you and said, you know, let's try and do better. It doesn't work that way. Unfortunately, >> the officers asked Deja for permission to photograph the conditions of the hotel room for CPS. However, Deja objected with the children on their way to the hospital. There was only one thing left to do. >> What is the process from here? I'm going to be >> taken to the police station, booked and processed, and then we'll go from there. So, you guys witnessed my door lock, right? And you have it on camera like that my kids stuff is safe. >> Yeah. I mean, it's locked in there, >> of course, but you guys were already in the room. So, I just want to make sure that no one else can get in and take any of my children's or my >> So, the charge that I'm being arrested for is child endangerment and their father's being charged with the same thing. >> Yeah. Even though it's my hotel room and I stay there. >> You both are the parents, aren't you? >> When you run my name, are you able to see like if I've been charged with anything? >> Yep. It's over here. >> So, can you inform me of what I've been charged with besides today? >> No. >> The police officer can put a charge on you, right? But it has to be the judge is the one that makes the ultimate determination, right? Jury or judge. I think I'm learning something. I didn't know that. I just I've normally had judges every court case I had. So, and to think I wanted to join academy. This is crazy, man. Both parents were charged with two counts of child endangerment. On August 5th, 2024, police officers in Ohio responded to a call from concerned parents who witnessed a visibly intoxicated mother picking up her children from football practice and driving away. The parents became suspicious when they saw the woman stumbling around in the parking lot before getting into her vehicle. Um, yeah, I'm the owner. I don't have any of their stuff in the car. >> Okay, you're suspended. >> Yeah, suspended and expired by being expired. >> Is there any meth cracker or cocaine in the vehicle? >> No. >> Okay. So, for no reason, my narcotic certified K9 would alert to the presence of any one of those things? >> No. Uh oh. We just at football practice. Mhm. >> I understand that. >> I just live right down this street and we couldn't find a ride. My phone. >> Where do you live? >> We live on Steville Pike Road. >> Okay. >> We just moved there like 2 minutes ago. >> Okay. I'm going to have you hop out with me. Okay. You don't have any firearms in the vehicle, anything like that. Obviously, you got kids in there. >> The woman, Sam, cooperated with officers and stepped outside of her vehicle, but she had trouble following even basic instructions. Her confusion reinforced their suspicion that she was under the influence of something. Is >> that the lighter? >> That's the lighter. Yeah. Set everything down in the vehicle for me. Just leave everything in the vehicle for me. >> Yeah. I would >> including whatever. You're not We're not lighting a cigarette right now. Just leave everything in the vehicle. Leave everything in the vehicle. >> I don't understand what >> So, put everything back in the vehicle. Except you everything in your hands, put it in the vehicle. >> Okay. >> And then you step out of the vehicle. >> Okay. >> Including the cops. >> Oh, just just not. >> All right. Step it with my kids in the car. >> Step to the front of my patrol vehicle. >> You're going to search the car with my kids in the car. >> N listen. You need to listen to me. >> I just want to know what's going on. >> Stand to the front of my patrol vehicle now. >> I just want to know what's going on. Stand to the front of the patrol vehicle now or you're going to get in a pair of handcuffs. Stand right there right now. >> The officer gave Sam a direct order, but she refused to listen and instead continued to reach into her vehicle. Although it was unlikely that she was reaching for a firearm, the police suspected she was trying to conceal drugs. >> Listen to me. Stop reaching in the car. Stop reaching in the car. Stop. >> My daughter. Oh my goodness. on the ground. What are you doing? >> What are you? >> Stop reaching in the car. >> Yeah. >> Where are you guys? Please just stop in front of my kids. Please stop in front of my Please. You please. You're about to get dog bit if you don't quit. >> This is your one warning that you're going to get. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> Let me go. >> We are at football. Football. >> We at football. >> What the? >> Keep it up. You're going to get t >> Sam's behavior was anything but sane. She was upset that her children were witnessing the whole thing, but that was her fault. If she wanted to stop making a spectacle of herself, all she had to do was cooperate and put her hands behind her back. >> Keep it up. You're going to get >> kids are screaming and like, are you serious? >> Keep it up. You're going to get tased. >> I don't understand. I don't understand. >> Hands behind your back. >> They are. I'm just a female. Like that's ridiculous. Yo, I need some representation here. This is ridiculous. >> One in custody, one resistance. [Music] >> During the scuffle, Sam dropped a substance. Although the officers believed it was meth, she claimed it was subex, an opioid used to treat drug addiction. With Sam secured in the back of a police cruiser, the officers turned their attention to the children. >> Do you guys who play football? >> You know Coach Madison? >> Yes. >> He's on his way down. Okay. [Music] It's >> okay, guys. [Music] Where? [Music] [Music] >> She's got no fight with her. >> While the coach looked after the children, the officers searched Sam's vehicle. Due to her elusive behavior in the moments leading up to her arrest, they were certain she was hiding drugs or paraphernalia somewhere in her vehicle. Check the ground over there. You know, I'm not trying to say that would have thrown something, you know what I mean? But I wouldn't want mom get in trouble either. You know what I mean? [Music] I got a little spatula that they all have. >> I hate chicken. I'm >> not trying to like taser or do anything crazy. >> Oh, no. >> I'm really not trying to hurt mom in front of freaking kids. >> She's contacting CPS. She's going to see if they want to call us or if they just want to come out. Be careful. >> Sam may have had Subuex on her, but she clearly hadn't kicked her illegal drug habit. Upon speaking to the coach, he confirmed that the mother frequently attended practice, often appeared to be under the influence of something. Next, two of the woman's friends arrived on the scene and contacted the children's grandmother. >> You You guys want to know where you're going tonight? >> You guys like your grandma? >> Yeah. >> Grandma's coming. >> All right. >> Yeah. My my grandma. >> All right. >> Yep. I'll do one of her. >> So, grandma's going to be here in a little bit and you guys will get to hop in there. Does that sound good? All right. You guys have been awesome tonight. All right. >> I'm saving my toys. >> You play your toys a lot. >> That's awesome. >> So, I only get bath. >> You You only get baths. [Music] >> I get it. Yeah. >> Even though the children's grandmother was coming to pick them up, the officers still had to report the situation to child protective services. After grandma arrived on the scene and took the children, the officers readjusted Sam's handcuffs and prepared to take her to jail. All right. Do you have anything in honor about your person? Because if you do and you take that into the Columbian County Jail, that is a felony conveyance charge. If you do, tell me now. And it's just a possession. It's not just >> No, I don't have any drugs. I don't >> So, as of right now, >> that you have, >> you are under arrest. You do have the right to remain sign any state can be visible. You have the right to have legal representation before, during, and after any question if you wish. You can decide at any time to exercise your rights, not answer any questions or make any statements. >> What am I arrested for? >> Uh, let's see. Felony tampering with evidence. Um, resisting, driving under suspension, OVI, um, child endangering, uh, expired registration, improper display of registration. [Music] >> Yeah, I hope you don't. >> Okay. I hope you do. >> Call me because walked away with them. Oh, and whenever the lab results come back for the that's going to be a felony possession. >> Sam was charged with DUI, resisting arrest, endangering children, obstructing official business, driving under suspicion, seat belt violation, and other traffic violations. In court, Sam pleaded no contest to the seat belt violation, but pleaded not guilty to the remaining charges. In another court, she was issued a $50,000 bond. Her charges were amended to DUI, resisting arrest, endangering children, obstructing official business, possession of cocaine, tampering with evidence, and driving under suspicion. On December 4th, 2022, Dunwy police officers were dispatched to the embassy suites at the Hilton in Atlanta, Georgia. Apparently, a room full of unsupervised children have been causing a disturbance with five separate noise complaints lodged against them. As a result, the front desk told the officers that they wanted the occupants removed. >> Hello. Hello. >> Pretty much, long story made bearable, um 807, uh it's a room full of young ladies, none under over the age, I think of 13, 14. Uh it's pretty much upstairs, unsupervised. We've gotten four different room complaints about those. So, they're going to be have to leave tonight. >> Okay. >> Do you uh you want them to quiet down or you want them to leave? >> They have to go at this >> disturbed. Who's the room under? >> Uh it's under Mrs. Genie Cooper. >> Kiss me. >> Okay. >> What's the problem? >> Uh they've gotten several noise complaints that refuse to stay inside the room. We have to multiple times to stay inside the room. Um they disrupted multiple floors of people. So, at this point, the only has to So y'all refunded it. >> Okay, we not leaving. >> Right from the start, the woman Jeanie approached the situation with a terrible attitude. Rather than acknowledging the inappropriate behavior of the children in her care or taking steps to resolve the issue, she chose to deflect blame onto the hotel staff and refused to accept any responsibility. >> So who So you asked them to go to their room and they didn't go? >> Yes, ma'am. Yes, ma'am. So, why didn't y'all call me? >> Ma'am. Ma'am, we attempted to call the room first. I ended up calling you because I couldn't get in contact with somebody in the room. Security went to the room multiple times. They wouldn't open the door. When they knocked on the when they didn't know security was outside the door, they opened the door. That's how security got inside the room. So, being that I called you and you said you was in the parking lot, that was maybe >> So, we're No, that was 5 minutes ago. >> We're from out of town and there's no way we're we're leaving. Well, they they have the right to do that. >> Okay. But I'm asking tonight. I'm here. They're not going to be disruptive no more tonight. >> Ma'am, at this point, they've caused enough disturbance to now have to refund other guests going to be asked to leave. There won't be a refund of this. The kids have been downstairs. They've been asked to leave multiple times through. So, this isn't something that it's at to the point where it's no coming back. At this point, >> it was virtually impossible to refute the clerk's argument. They had warned the children multiple times to quiet down and return to their rooms, but they refused and continued to misbehave. Furthermore, it was notable that although Jeanie asked if they could stay, she never once apologized for their behavior. >> No, stop. Stop. Don't do that. Don't Don't do that because No, no, no. Bam. Don't do that because the law is right here. Now I'm blowing up because I did not blow up on you on the phone. Stop. >> It doesn't matter. >> It don't care. >> It doesn't matter. Well, I'm talking to you. So, what I'm telling you is that they're asking you to leave. You're going to have to leave. >> I did not blow up on you on the phone. Something else you don't >> I'm on my I'm lowering my tone, but I didn't blow up on you on the phone. I did not. Do you know that? I did not I did not blow up on you on the phone. I did not. So, let's not do that. I know we got the laws here, but I did not blow up on you. >> The same thing I'm saying to you is the same thing I said when they weren't here. >> No, no, no, no. The same thing you're saying to me is what you said to me on the phone, but I did not blow a point. >> Jeanie behaved as though she deserved a reward for not losing her temper with the clerk, who had simply called to let her know that the children in her care were disturbing other paying guests. >> I'm not leaving. So, what y'all going to do? >> You have to leave if they ask you to leave. Not you have to. >> Okay. Well, refund me. >> They can't. They That's not in their policy yet. >> Refund me, man. Shut up. You hear me? >> Here's the thing, man. >> You're not even like what the love. >> How old are the kids? You pissing yourself off. >> No, you pissing me off because I'm trying to say I just don't go back to >> Don't. Yeah, don't don't cuz you already didn't lie and said I was getting hype on the phone and I was, but now I'm hyped. >> Absolutely, >> ma'am. >> It was becoming clearer where the children learned how to be loud and obnoxious. Jeanie agreed to return to the room and bring the children down. But when the officers informed her that they would be accompanying her, she changed her mind. >> Man, they're they're they're kids. >> I understand. >> What you going to go up there and get, >> man? I just got to make sure. >> What you mean you going to go out there and get what? >> Make sure they're kids. >> There's no Why you screaming screaming? >> Cuz pissed me off. >> If you scream, then we're going to arrest you and it's going to get worse. >> Yeah, we are. This is a disorderly. Yes, it is. Yes, it I'm going to get my kids and I'm believing your voice to me. >> No, I'm not talking to you. I'm not talking to y'all. >> I'm not talking to y'all. >> Get your kids. >> I'm going to get them. >> I'm going to get them. >> I'm going to get >> You're about to go to jail. >> I don't give a [ __ ] man. At this point, I don't because he'sing lying. He never caught me. We never had a conversation. Yeah, cuz I'm pissed now >> cuz Jordan did too much. >> I'm trying to give you a break now. I'm trying to get you a break. >> Really? Are you? >> Yeah, because I'm about to take you to jail and I'd rather you just get your kids and go to another hotel. >> Jeanie continued to raise her voice, claiming the hotel clerk was lying. Even after backup officers arrived to help deescalate the situation. She continued to fan the flames until the officers finally decided they'd had enough. >> We want you to get out of here before. Yeah. I'm not going to get arrested cuz I'm not doing anything. >> You're being disorderly. I'm not being disorderly. >> All right, stand. Stand up for me. >> I said that my kids did not do anything. >> Stand up. I gave you a chance and you haven't done that, >> man. I didn't do nothing. >> Okay, just let me get my kids. >> Stop pulling away. >> I'm not pulling away. I'm not I'm just saying like this guy lied on me. I did not do anything. My kids, he didn't we didn't argue over the phone. We didn't do any of that. We didn't argue or nothing. like this crazy. >> 33 1 to 10. >> By then, she had been shouting at the top of her lungs in the middle of the lobby for over 10 minutes straight. And in classic Karen form, the moment the cuffs went on, she played the victim card. >> I can't call him. >> We're going to go outside. >> God damn. Give me a chance to call them. I don't have enough room to get these girls in my car. Why are you calling when you were sitting here? >> I'm I was trying to call him and you coming up. >> You're not doing nothing. >> I was 30. >> I'm literally trying to call my husband. >> We're going to make sure a call gets to him. You got to >> I don't want to go to jail. >> Well, you're going. That's too late for that. It's too late for that. I gave you plenty of chances. Pull her out. >> No, you didn't give me a pill. You don't have to pull me in. I want to get in my car. >> Hey. Hey. >> Are y'all kidding me right now? >> Put that foot in. >> You literally did not give me a chance to call my husband. This is crazy. I have Make sure 13 and 12 year olds in here. >> Slide in before he pulls you in. >> I have 13 and 12 year olds in here. Stop. Okay, I'm I'm getting in. Are y'all kidding me? Oh my gosh. >> With Genie secured in the back of a police cruiser. The officers made their way upstairs to locate the children after making arrangements for Jeanie's husband to come and pick them up. And as if they'd heard Jeanie from the lobby, the girls had already packed their bags and were ready to go. Doody, please. Please open up. >> Hey, girls. How many of you guys are in here? >> There's five. My mom's downstairs talking to the people. >> Yeah. Okay. Uh, can you bring all your sisters out here real quick? Are they your sister's friends? Bring them out here real quick. They're not in trouble. You're not in trouble. I just got to talk to you guys real quick. >> We did not. >> You're not in trouble. Just come out here real quick. >> Don't worry about it. Come here. Come here. >> Okay, ladies. Uh, >> dang on this. >> Okay. Come here. here. Come over here real quick. >> You're not in trouble. Just relax. Okay. >> So, >> can you bring the last one out here, too? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Don't be scared. You're not in trouble. We're not arresting anybody. Okay. But because this is a private business, they don't want you to be here anymore. So, I'm going to need you guys to pack up your Whose mom? She's downstairs. Your dad's coming. Okay. I need you guys to pack up your stuff and then we're going to be back up here in about 5 10 minutes to get you guys uh to go. Okay. >> I'm already packed. >> You already packed? >> Everything's already set up. >> Okay. Just have your stuff ready. I'll be back up about 5 10 minutes because your dad's coming. All right. >> I'm requested. >> Yes. >> Where's my mom? >> She's downstairs with the police officer. >> Will I be able to see her? >> Yes. Yes. Your mom's okay. She's just fine. Okay. Yeah. She's relaxing a little bit. We'll let you talk to her a little bit. We need to make sure you guys are okay first. >> Madison, >> are you guys talking to somebody's parents? I can talk to him. >> Madison, come here. You would think someone's crazy. Like, let me talk to the police officer here. >> Jeanie was transported to the Deob County Jail where she was charged with disorderly conduct. On October 30th, 2023, police officers responded to a residence following reports that a woman was endangering her child. When officers arrived on the scene, they were greeted by a neighbor who provided them with some shocking information. >> I feel like y'all need to know something though. She is crazy. She's cra footage of her last night. She dropped this dro kept dropping the little girl in the grass. She ran up to my door. She threw the little girl head into the door and I think there come here. Come here. Stop. Don't Don't make me grab you. Come on. Don't do that. Okay. Come over here. >> All right. >> What's your daughter's name? >> Derek. >> Derk. Marie Harvey. Yes. >> Dererick's daughter. >> What's going on right now? >> It's me and Dererica. Mom, please. >> Where's Dererick at? >> I think he's in control. Get Isaiah out of there now. Tim, >> take off the goddamn mask, you stupid ass. >> Get in my face. Get in my face. >> The woman, Cynthia, was acting completely unhinged, which was bad enough, but considering she had her child with her, it was extra disturbing. Immediately, she began acting aggressively towards the officers and paramedics. >> Hey, relax. >> Relax. Relax. Give me this. Stop it now. >> Don't make me stop. >> Put your hand behind her back. Stop. Don't Listen to me. >> You're going to get hurt. Listen to me. Look at me. Look at me. >> Run in there, Dererica. It's >> daddy. >> You're going to get hurt. Stop doing that. >> I'm going to slam you on your face. Stop doing that. Drop that on your hands. >> Okay. Or or you're going to get hurt in front of your daughter. Stand up on your feet. Stand up. Put your hands behind your back so I don't have to throw you in the grass. >> It was beginning to look like Cynthia was going to cooperate. But things aren't always as they seem. With her child visibly upset beside her, it was more than in her best interest to cooperate as no responsible parent would want to be arrested in front of their child. >> Run in the house. They're going to shoot mine out. Knock it off. >> Turn over on your stomach. >> What did I just tell you? Turn over. >> Knock it off. >> You're not listening. Turn >> turn over on your stomach or you're going to get my >> Stop. Run. Hurry. Run. >> Get that other leg. Hurry. It's over. >> Run, baby. Run. Run, Derek. Take it up, baby. >> Go. My leg. Oh my god. [ __ ] >> I can't get it over there. >> Give me another car. >> 20% drive. >> Whatever made her think that the officers would hurt her child was anyone's guess. All that was certain was that she succeeded in absolutely terrifying her young daughter for no reason. And if she needed to run, it was so she would not get traumatized by the situation her mother put her in. >> All right, let's stand right there. >> Stand up. >> All right. >> Get me out. >> They can slow down. Just have a supervisor come out here as well. >> It's in my baby right there in the purple boat. >> I got I got >> Oh, there I got plus in my leg. Ouch. It's in a purse, you dumb Jeremy right behind you. >> Stand up. >> A right there, Derek. >> Oh, >> 34, just give us a supervisor out here as well, please. >> The officers escorted Cynthia to a nearby ambulance to receive treatment from EMS. She remained delusional, talking gibberish and not making any sense at all. And although she cooperated and got onto the gurnie easily enough, treating her wasn't going to be easy. >> All right. >> Very good. Very good. >> My badge. >> Well, I love my job, man. I wanted to know. >> Relax, baby. Relax. Okay. Come on. >> But when you got family, Miss >> Ah, she's been looking for me all morning. >> Come on. Have a seat on here. >> Ah, shoot. I broke my leg. >> There we go. >> Oh, Dad. I'm sorry. >> Belleview, Ohio. >> All right. 44811. >> She don't have anything. >> My daughter's in there. Oh, Missy, I'm sorry. >> All right, just breathe. Your daughter's here. Okay, relax, girl. You got >> out, baby. I'm going out with you. >> Thank you, Da. She say yes. I'm so torn. You know what I'm saying? Damn. Get me a Tyson or where am I going? Misty, >> took her off. Take it off. My daughter's in her car. >> Peter Agua and Misty. Peter, wipe Peter from Tyson and her food. The old Pierre, it's Sydney. Derek, you dumb, get out the closet. >> Put that leg down. >> All right, it's me. Sydney, take the mask off, Misty. Dererick is in there. It's that >> Derkica does it right 37. It's 34. >> After the paramedics successfully strapped her down, Cynthia was loaded into the back of the ambulance and taken to the hospital for additional treatment. Considering her mental state, it was scary to think she was responsible for a child. >> He's going to work on that. >> My leg is broke. Peter, help. Tim Goodwin, they're all in there. I live in the range of 5520 favorite drive. >> Get my daughter Derek. >> Please. Get up. >> This is Cynthia Boger, Derek Harvey's wife. 21, please. >> [ __ ] >> First name is Cynthia. >> Oh, [ __ ] Isaiah's over in four. Damn, I take off the mask. >> B I N T H I A. >> Last name is uh Bugar. It's B O O G H. Is it G H E R? >> It was going to be a long ride to the hospital. The officer attempted to gather her personal information, but that proved nearly impossible. Although Cynthia told the officer that she wouldn't cooperate unless he had a warrant. Unfortunately for her, police officers don't need a warrant to rescue children from their neglectful mothers. >> In here, >> Carol, Tim, >> they're all I'm voting. I I was voting no. Still a little torn. You know, Dererick's not about to see go down. [ __ ] Somebody get me out of here cuz somebody's going to jail. I got all the paperwork in my house. They locked everything down because Isaiah got that fire. It's Cindy. Dude, take off the mask before Dererica does something stupid. >> I'm not wearing a mask. >> Please. Dererica, you got her off the bus. Thank God. Tim Carol, >> where's your dad at? >> I know where my apartment is. >> I know yours is right here. Where's your dad? I can't take you to your death. >> Take me home. The officer needed Cynthia to provide him with contact information of someone who could look after her daughter, but it was like pulling teeth. She claimed that her father was inside her house, but the odds that that was true and not just another delusion were slim to none. >> I I don't know how legitimate this is, but she's claiming >> Isaiah inside of her apartment. I don't know. >> Isaiah's mom. >> They won't let me out. Derek Dererick almost got on the wrong bus. It's mommy. She said >> Derek Harvey's family. >> Okay. >> Isaiah and Derica, please. >> Is the kid taken care of? >> You found some family. >> All right, Abby. >> Ally, one of you guys come here and give me my purse. >> Teresa, please. >> Honey, I'm brave. Help me. >> I know. Breathe. Breathe. You're going to be Look at me. You're going to be okay. Okay, breathe. Cynthia was concerned that CPS was going to take her child away, but the officer reassured her that her daughter was just fine. That said, what she said next would make anyone question if it was okay for her daughter to be under her custody. >> Oh, I was trying to do my cop. >> You were trying to do my cop and then theying went to go shoot my baby >> today or last night? >> Today. This all happened just now. And then Isaiah came out and I grabbed Derica. I almost killed myself. And then Misty got on here. And then Peter's out there. >> They got the wrong person, man. >> Please help me with my leg. >> Vote. No, mother. This ain't right. >> The mercy. [Applause] I'm fing mill practice. Get you [ __ ] >> Take it off. You better take that mask off. Misty, >> I didn't know. [Music] >> I don't know any of those. >> I know. >> Thank you. >> Yes. >> Thank you. Thank you. >> Gracias. Cynthia was charged with disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and endangering children. There's no doubt it's devastating for any mother to have police or CPS take custody of their child. And while officers and social workers never want to step in like that, sometimes they have no choice. Because when parents fail their children, it's up to the good cops to step in and protect the kids.
