She's on the patient. >> Don't want to mess up your watch. >> Mhm. >> We've all encountered some unforgettable characters at Walmart, but some take things to a whole new level of chaos. In today's episode, we uncover the wildest moments when shoppers ditch common sense and flirt with disaster. These cases prove what happens when people step into Walmart thinking the rules don't apply to them. Buckle up. This is Walmart like you've never seen it before. >> No, you don't have to grab me like that. >> You don't really have a choice. >> You don't have to grab me like that. You're being aggressive. >> On February 4th, 2025, police responded to a Walmart retail theft involving two suspects who bizarrely claimed they were working with Walmart's loss prevention to steal items. Oh, do you have Do you have any receipts or anything for now? Do you have any receipts? Pull them up. My receipt messages because I've been working for these two for the longest. The suspects argued they hadn't left the store, claimed they knew the rules, and insisted they had text messages proving they were allowed to freely take merchandise. >> Okay, we'll just search. >> Yeah, you guys. >> I got the receipts. Your name in here, too. You already know. >> All right. Well, at this point, >> well, I don't know where >> At this point, you guys are going to be detained for suspicion on >> retail staff. >> Yep. >> Okay. We never walked out the door, so we know the >> Well, you passed the last point of purchase. It wasn't the last point. We was at the first point. We know the >> Okay. Well, I'm not going to argue with you right now. I'm just going to read you the you guys' rights. >> I'm not going to argue. >> No, we're we're not arguing with you. >> You have the right to stop this interview at any time. You understand? >> No. But can I say something? >> Yes. >> All the text messages, they let me come in here and take anything out of your >> Yeah. Huh? Look, I got the proof, baby. Look, >> you understand what I >> No, I understand what you're saying, but I'm just letting you know I was able to come in here freely. I know you want. >> They denied hiding items in jackets, claimed they were recruited by boss lady, and resisted being physically handled by officers while continuing to insist on innocence. >> I have no jackets. >> That's not even our jacket. >> That's not our jacket. I don't know who jacket that is. Go through all of them. And when they say item, >> yes, I am. You are. >> Her name is have nothing. I've been working with you >> and he just called me three times. You hear me? And it's because items and when it say boss lady never lady of course >> she's boss lady. That's >> right. >> And then if you go to my messenger I can tell you I've been working for them for 2 years. >> No I'm not giving you my You don't have to grab me like that. You don't really have a choice. >> You don't have to grab me like that. I'm being aggressive. Walmart employees and police confirmed through surveillance and receipts that the suspects had multiple carts of unpaid merchandise and never scanned items. >> Yep. I'm sure it is. But that's okay. You see what I'm talking about? You see all the items coming here to get to [Music] >> and when they had the stuff in the apparel section in the apparel >> and they never even scanned any of this. They they still have more stuff over and >> they never scan any of it. >> I know my rights. >> So yeah. >> What did they pay for? >> What's that? >> What did they pay for? >> You didn't pay for none of it. I know. They walked out the door. Is this all it? >> No. Well, >> the carts >> the carts. The two carts walk out the door. >> They went through the vestibial. What do you >> Can I look at your >> They went to the self scanner. >> Oh, good. They just went through the self. >> Did they go through the self checks? because I didn't go I didn't go I wasn't here >> it turn that's that's not okay I work here >> the suspects identified supposed organizers boss lady and big C who allegedly called them directed thefts and even moved employees around to make it easier >> don't have nothing to do with >> almost $800 my name is >> Kha what's your last Okay. This is what's going to happen. We're going to separate them cuz they're when we talk to them. So, we're going to ask one to come out here and go from there. >> What do you got doing here? >> Um, them. >> Like, I was trying to explain why she was talking. I have nothing to lie about. They already know what's going on and everything. The crazy thing about it is they called us. We wouldn't have never been in here. Her name is, but her name in my phone is boss lady. If you scroll through my phone, all that cat food and sorry, I'm not racist, but they call it people food. So, it's like salami beef. That's all her food. I don't know why she playing dumb. >> The little the lady that just took the cards. >> Yeah, >> I know her, too. She's in my phone as well. Identify me as a cousin. Remember I said that's my cousin? >> He's he's his name is Big C. You just went to my phone. He just called me three times. >> I have no reason to lie. >> I wouldn't have never been in here until they called me to come in here. I they've been calling us and telling us to do this for the longest. So, like I told them, if I'm going down, y'all going down, too, cuz I would never been able to come in here without y'all permission. >> She right there. She moves people around. >> They admitted this wasn't the first time. They said it happened before, most recently in December, claiming they sometimes paid for items, but were often waved through. >> They told you to come in, grab these items. >> Yeah. And >> not even notify anyone. >> No one. >> And just to walk out. Is that what you're saying? >> Yeah, she moves people around for us. >> Okay. What is that? >> Move them around. She's the boss. She can move them around and tell them to do break. So, we lock the door. >> Okay. Okay. >> I have no reason to lie. >> All right. >> You seen it in my phone? >> I gave you my phone. >> I hear you. >> All right. Thank you. >> Yes, sir. >> Yes. >> Okay. >> So, what are you guys doing here? >> Um, we got a call and said that he said that we were able to come in here. He needed a few things, but they needed a few things. Then we could also come in here and get some things for ourselves. >> Okay. >> Police questioned another woman the suspects named, but she denied involvement and pointed out she hadn't spoken with them since mid January. >> YouTube. Um, so I got Sisha cousin and her friend Emerald here. >> Uh, I saw that you called us from. Okay. What were you telling them? >> You know what I'm saying? >> Well, actually I was like, "Hey, where's she in the bathroom?" I was like, "Okay." She was like, "You have to call her back." I was like, "Okay." Yeah, sorry for shooting. >> Okay. >> All right. Cuz they're saying that you uh told them to come in here to gather some stuff and not pay for it. Walk out. >> No, that's a lie. >> The last time I sit was January 17 invit. >> Okay. And then you're sending pictures that she was sending you or you were sending her food items. >> Yeah. legit like we know close. >> Okay. >> You know what I'm saying? But like I said, I I haven't talked to her. I'm like, "Damn." He said, "No, I'm catching anything else." >> Okay. Right. So, >> no worries. I just I just wanted telling us that you and Deborah are the ones who had told her to come in here and grab each other and not pay for that on my phone. >> No, no. I I saw that you haven't I I saw you haven't checked it since January 17th. >> Both women were arrested, charged with felony retail theft, and banned from the property. Walmart lost prevention staff were cleared of wrongdoing. Excuses and fake permission don't change the fact that theft is still theft. The truth always comes out when evidence and surveillance are checked. What an unyielding shoplifter. The next shoplifter will react much more violently, so keep an eye out. >> What happened? You're being detained for >> on April 19th, 2024, police detained three women suspected of shoplifting at True Religion in a premium outlet >> from the food court. >> Yeah, they're right there. >> Okay, let's make contact when they uh when they're heading out. >> All right, we're moving the contact. The one with the black shirt. >> I'm 102. I'm not grabbing. I don't have nothing. >> Let's go. >> I don't have anything, sir. >> What? What do you mean you don't have anything? >> I don't know. What else could you be grabbing me for? >> Okay, you have this >> my phone for your phone. >> Listen to him. You're being detained for a theft investigation. >> So, just comply. Just comply. Just comply. >> You're being detained for a the phone. I'm going to call my job. Okay. >> I got her. Okay. >> I got her. You have ID on you? >> Um, not in this bag, I don't think. >> Undercover officers observed them working together. One removed security tags with a magnet while the others distracted store staff. >> In this bag, you don't have >> No, it's in the car. >> In the car? >> I got one. Yeah. >> And red. >> What happened? >> Being detained for a theft investigation. >> Oh, okay. >> Stop. Stop. Give me. >> All right. So, we're about to find out. [Music] I think we got all three this time. copy of transport. >> Yeah, let's go. >> All three suspects were stopped and escorted by police for further questioning and searches. >> And my car is out here. Where where is your car at? >> Way on the other side. Okay, let's go up here to our car. Hey Josh, that's 104. Meet me in front of the T-Mobile booth in the front. >> Do they need to be searched? >> She needs to be searched. >> Yeah. All All of them. >> Those are the bag off her wrist now. Is that all? Step up here. You going to listen? >> Officers noted suspicious behavior and secured the suspect's belongings for investigation. >> There's an officer direct. We're going to lean up against the car. Okay. Is she there, buddy? Another shirt. >> Hey, just just hang up by the car. >> It's kind of hot. That's why I keep >> That's her property. >> I haven't. >> I gave it to the black man already. Oh, >> no. She didn't have Nike, but she had this purse. I didn't check it. >> Yeah, they were they looked really sketchy. Oh, >> that's okay. Um, >> police mentioned possible felony charges. Approval was sought because the theft value qualified. >> Text they have felony charges. They need an approval real quick. >> Felony char? What are they? >> Yeah, I don't know. They said they have felony on the guy from the guy they took. Oh, >> okay. Okay. >> All this is >> this one. >> You want it all? >> So, my coach tomorrow is going to be unfortunately. >> Um, she wants to sit in with you guys. I'm going to take the seat belt off and you guys can >> One of the individuals involved had prior convictions raising the severity of the case. >> All right. So, I'm going to ask you a few questions. All I need is a verbal yes or no. >> Yeah. >> All right. So, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> Yeah. >> Anything you say may be used against you in court. Do you understand? >> Yeah. >> Reading your rights. Do you want to talk to me about today? >> Do I want to what? >> Do you want to answer some questions I have for you about today? >> Um, under what I asked you? No, not important. So you don't wish to talk to me, >> huh? >> So you don't want to talk to me? Okay. Speak to you first. >> All right. So just ask you some questions. All I need is yes or no. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> Huh? >> You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Okay. Anything you say may be used against you in court. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> You have the right to talk to your lawyer before and during question. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> All right. After reading your rights, do you want to speak to me about today? >> No. >> Okay. >> You want to get out? >> Okay. Come on. All right. So standing at the other two people, you have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? I have verbal yes or no. >> Verbal yes or no? >> Yes. >> Okay. Anything you say may be used against you in court. Do you understand? Yes. You >> have the right to talk to a lawyer before and during questioning. Do you understand? >> Yes. >> Officers read the Miranda rights to each suspect. Two declined to answer questions while one agreed to limited questioning. >> Any rights you wish to speak to me about today? Just a few questions I have. It's up to you. He said, "You have a few questions." >> I have a few questions. >> Microphone on or off? >> Huh? >> Microphone on or off? >> Yes or no? >> You don't want to talk to me? >> You talking about before or after you ask the question? >> Huh? >> Before or after you ask? >> Whatever you want to do. During questioning, the suspect denied stealing despite being found with a magnet in her pocket. >> So, if you want to hear my question, ask my question. You can choose to answer right now. >> I want to hear a question. >> So, you agree to that? >> Yeah. >> Okay. So, what did you guys go to the store today for? >> Nothing. >> For nothing? >> Okay. So, why are you here right now? And why was there a magnet in your pocket? You like my questions? Are you Are you done with my questions? Okay, sit back. The trio had stolen over $826 in merchandise. All three face grand theft retail charges and two face additional charges for possession of anti-shoplifting devices. Working together to steal might seem clever, but undercover cops are always watching. Even small thefts can lead to felony charges and a criminal record that follows you for life. If you like this video, please sign up for Law Zone to receive more. Look out for the next shoplifter who will react even more aggressively. >> Make sure it's all of it because like I said, you're going to get searched back then and if you don't turn it over now, we're going to charge you. On September 4th, 2024 in Melbourne, New Jersey police were called to a shopping mall to apprehend an alleged shoplifter. They spotted the woman just as she was leaving Victoria's Secret and heading in the direction of Blooming Dales. >> She's walking towards Bloomingdales uh by Victoria's Secret. I'm trying to catch up. [Music] Hi ma'am. Stop right there. >> Hi, I'm officer delay came over and please just see where they're recording on body cam. Okay, stand over here for me. >> Okay, >> right over here. Okay. Um, were you shopping any stores today? >> Yeah, I just came to the mall. >> Okay, so I'm just going to read your rights real quick. You have your rights? >> Just listen here. >> You have your the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in the court of law. >> Hello. >> Why is he recording? What's going on? >> Relax. Let me finish my state. >> What's going on? >> I'm going to answer your questions after I read my statement. >> Hello. What is I know I'm >> driver stopped by craton barrel. >> Crate and barrel. >> I don't want no crayon barrel. >> Right. Are you going to listen or you going to talk? >> Okay. So, you have the right to remain silent. Any officer will tell you that talking on the phone while being questioned is a sign of disrespect. It shows a bad attitude and a reluctance to be open and truthful. But in this case, the shoplifter had much bigger problems to worry about. >> What store were you in today? [Music] >> Okay. I went into I forgot where I went into before that. >> Okay. >> All right. Did you conceal any merchandise on you? >> Did you take any clothing? cuz we're going to go to the store and look at the cameras. So, >> okay. >> Hello. >> So, did you take any clothing? >> No, I did not. >> Okay. Can you just do me a favor? Hang up the phone real quick while I'm speaking with you. Do you have an ID on you? >> Not very. I have a picture of them on my phone. I recently lost cuz it got expired. >> Okay. >> I'm under arrest for what? >> You're not under arrest. You're just being detained at this time. >> Detained for what though, officer? >> For potentially shoplifting. >> For potentially not for actually potentially. So, you're matching the description of somebody that reported shoplifting in a store. >> I just literally got to this mall. >> So, we're looking at camera footage right now. >> Okay. >> If you didn't shoplift, you'll be on your way. That's it. >> Okay. >> Okay. >> What's the phone number for you? >> Do you want to blanket? >> My phone's getting cut off. You have like one of my mom number 347 >> 261. >> 247. I'm sorry. >> 247. No. >> The woman turned out to be a terrible liar. She claimed the phone she was on was getting cut off and then gave the officer a blatantly fake number. Lying about your identity is not only illegal but also incredibly risky. And in this case, it wouldn't have mattered anyway because video footage doesn't lie. >> So, what did you take from the store? >> I didn't see what store. >> What's in your dress that you took from the store? You're on camera. >> What camera? I'm on office. >> Every camera that's in the store caught you putting stuff in your dress. >> In what store? So, I'm going to let me explain how this is going to go down. Okay. >> Yeah. >> I'm going to hold on to your phone. >> So, you're going to be placed under arrest and then you're going to be searched and we're going to find the items. Either you can just give them to us now >> or when we have an officer come and search you and find the items, then we can charge you additionally. >> Okay. And what happened? >> Yo, tomorrow my daughter's birthday. >> Okay. >> My kids are going back to school tomorrow. >> Is that why you took the items? on my my daughter's school and her birthday is tomorrow. >> Okay. Well, let's give us the items that you have concealed under your dress and then we'll get you out of here as soon as we can. >> No, I know yall going y'all going to arrest me like >> we are. >> Either either way, we need the items back. Whether we get >> right here are they tucked in there or can you just pull them out? >> Like I don't feel like I don't feel comfortable doing it right here. >> Okay. All right. Is there like a corner I could go into? >> Let's go in this corridor over here. Okay. I just need you to take your purse off real quick. >> You can keep everything in there. >> Can I lose money? >> It's all coming with you. It's all coming with you. We're going to hold on to it. I have >> We're going to hold on to it. >> The woman then tried to play the sympathy card, claiming she was stealing for her children. But that excuse quickly fell apart after all what could her kids possibly need from Victoria's Secret. I'm right here. Just walk out. Yes. [Music] And whenever you have it, you just throw on the ground. >> Okay. >> Make sure it's all of it because like I said, you're going to get searched back then and if you don't turn it over now, we're going to charge you additionally. Go. [Music] [Music] >> Am I going to make my daughter tomorrow? >> Yes. That's a lot of >> Okay, just confirm. Confirm that's everything. >> I said confirm that's everything that's on you. >> Make sure that's everything that's on you. Definitely nothing else in there. Like that. [Music] It's a New York. >> I just want to make you fall. >> That's definitely it, right? Cuz I'm telling you, you're going to get searched. She's going to go under your dress. I don't know about you, but this scene felt more like a circus act. Like clowns pulling an endless string of colored scarves out of their pockets. Honestly, how is it even possible to stuff that much stolen merchandise into a pair of underwear? >> Can you just take the dress off? I mean, you have pants underneath, right? >> Okay. Take it off. I have nothing. >> I'm sorry. >> You don't want to take it off? >> As I said, as long What's the strap here? My kids went to the doctor. >> All right. So, like I said, you're going to get searched when we get down there if there's more merchandise that could be an issue. >> Can Can you just be honest with me? >> What's up? >> I'm going to go make you find my date of birth. >> Yes. >> Like I said, you were pretty transparent, right? You did admit to it. >> Show you her date of birth. >> Listen, listen. Listen. I'm going to work with you, okay? You gave me everything back, right? >> So, are you going to get arrested? Yes. You're going to get processed. I will do my best to get you out of here today. Okay. >> Okay. >> All right. Just come over here and >> All right. Come over here and just stand on the wall. >> Put your hands behind your back. >> It's It's all going to come with you. I'm going to let you make a phone call. We get back to the police department. Okay. >> Unlock your fingers. >> The officer handled the situation with remarkable patience and professionalism. Since the woman didn't resist or put up a fight, the process was straightforward. She'd be booked and then quickly released. >> Can I ask my my son is trying to salon the money I used to buy the sneakers for school tomorrow. >> Well, like I said, all your money, all your property is going to come with you. When you're released, you're going to get it back. We're not keeping your money. Okay? >> I can show you everything that I'm not lying about. My kids go to school tomorrow. >> Okay? and I can show you my daughter um birthday >> that tomorrow is really her birthday. Okay, so that doesn't change anything, but like I said, >> we're going to do some paperwork. >> I know. I just want to >> I'm hoping you'll be out of here in a couple hours that I'm not lying to you. >> Like I said, you gave me all the merchandise back and I'm taking your word with that. Okay? So, I'm going to work with you and it's just going to be a shoplifting charge. Okay? So, that's it. So, maybe a few hours of paperwork. >> You're not going to miss her birthday. Okay? Don't stress about it. But you're going to get [Music] >> So, what stores did you steal from? >> Victoria Secret. >> Yeah. So, when you went in pink, you took stuff from there as well. >> Alo. Just those two stores. >> Okay. >> All right. >> All right. DJ said he's on his way. >> So, you want to wait or Well, I think he's more worried about merchants. >> Uh, there's Victoria's Secret, too. >> The suspect attempted to steal nearly $1,200 worth of lingerie from Victoria's Secret along with another $800 worth of merchandise from a different retail store. She was charged with shoplifting, but despite the high total, was released later that same day. Shoplifterss come from all walks of life. But unless someone is truly stealing food out of desperation to feed their starving children, it's difficult to feel sympathy. Why should they be entitled to free merchandise when everyone else has to work hard and pay for it? But this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. >> This is not our first day. We know what's going on. Okay. You're being charged with it. >> On March 16th, 2024, police were called to a Walmart for what seemed like a routine shoplifting case, but they quickly found themselves in the middle of something far messier. Good oldfashioned lovers drama. >> Turn the car off. Step out of the car for me, will you? Come on around here, my man. Come to the front of the car right here. Okay. >> Yeah, >> ma'am. You're over here with me. Don't reach back in the car. Come over here with me. Don't drop your chains on your back. All right. >> You're detained right now. Okay. Give me these. I'm going set these up here. >> Reason we're here, um, these guys work Walmart asset protection. >> Yeah. They said we were staping some things. Yep. >> I was. Can I give it back to >> concealing items? >> Can I give it back? >> Huh? >> Can I give it back? You didn't give it back? >> Yeah, I'll give it all. >> We'll have to take care of. >> In a surprising twist, the man didn't deny the theft or make excuses he owned up to it immediately. As officers and loss prevention agents reviewed the stolen items, he kept apologizing, clearly aware he'd messed up. >> I apologize. I mean, I quit making a lot of bad decisions, man. Throwing my mouth my life out and miss my kids and I life up and start going down the wrong path. Oh, no. Columbus. >> Yeah. Is this you? Yes. >> Yeah. Okay. >> You got the grill on the can. >> You got the grill. >> That's mine. Yeah. Everything else is mine. Hey. >> Hey. I know. I know you're nervous, but just just relax. All right. We'll let you know everything that's going on, but right now, you just detained. Okay. You're not under arrest. You're just detained right now until we figure figure out this investigation. Okay? So, just relax. You know, I know you there's a lot of questions. >> The suspect looks visibly anxious, like there might be more to the story. Maybe he confessed to the shoplifting so quickly because he didn't want the investigation to dig any deeper. Could he be hiding something worse? >> You got to keep your woman happy. The most peace I ever had in my life was living here with this woman. you know, just peaceful and, you know, truly genuinely I felt good and was happy, you know, and all I did was I stopped smoking cigarettes and, you know, stop hanging out with the bad people and, you know, started really living my life for God. And >> that's that's the big key, man. You got to leave. You got it's people you hang around. The suspect shared a surprisingly heartfelt conversation with the officer, giving a glimmer of hope that he might truly want to turn his life around, but the story's far from over. Both suspects are then brought back into Walmart, and that's when things start to get serious. >> We're going to do the same thing as we normally do as an arrest. Part of that is making sure you don't have anything you're not supposed to on you, okay? Do any of you guys have anything you're not supposed to? Any kind of drugs, needles, >> no >> paraphernalia, anything like that. Okay. >> Well, here's the thing. use the van for a commission of crime so I can search the van. That's why I'm asking. Is there anything in there? >> I didn't know. >> You know, >> the cops played it smart. They made it seem like they were just about to search the suspect's vehicle, giving the pair one last chance to come clean. But in reality, they'd already been through it and found all kinds of suspicious items. It was a test, a chance for these love birds to do the right thing and confess before things got worse. >> Whose is it? And remember you are, you know, remember you're still u you still been advised your right so you don't have to tell us >> but this is your chance to to tell us if you want to. >> Okay. So what is that person? >> Yeah bag. >> It's a black bag. It's got a pipe in there and some other stuff >> hanging black bag off your seat. >> Off my seat. >> Yep. >> I know that. >> No clue. This is hanging off a se off a bag off your passenger seat. I I don't usually show back. >> Okay. He was in the passenger seat and all your stuff's over there. >> Yeah. >> Is it yours? >> No. >> Yours? >> Well, I guess it's yours. >> You probably noticed that subtle smirk from the female suspect when asked who was responsible. Despite their head shaking and looks of surprise, it was obvious they were covering for each other. Sensing this, the officer switched tactics. So, this is not our first day. We know what's going on. Okay. You're being charged with it because nobody's admitting to it and it's in your possession. It's in your general possession of that car. >> I'm going to get charged with >> who's it? >> Huh? >> Because it doesn't matter. I'm going to get charged with it anyway. >> Not necessarily. Now, if it's his, are you want to take the rap from him or what's going on? your own probation, right? Represent a disability. You're not supposed to have firearms, right? >> In addition to the drug paraphernalia, officers also uncovered a firearm, making this woman's situation go from bad to worse. Surprisingly, she didn't try to shift the blame onto her boyfriend, taking the heat all on her own. But now it's his turn in the hot seat. >> And for one thing, you got a solid girl in there, man. She ain't giving you up. >> It's not mine. >> And look, she wants to This is still This is still You're still Miranda still applies. You don't have to tell me nothing, okay? You don't you're you're in handcuffs. You're under arrest. You don't have to tell me anything. I just want to throw that out there right now. I'm just asking one last time. >> Who's that? >> It's not mine. >> She's under disability. She's on probation. >> It's not mine. >> Go away from that door. So, she can't hear us. >> She can't hear the sound. >> I could hear her out there right now. >> You hear what I was saying? >> Yes. I hear everything you guys are saying, but I was talking to him and said >> All right. What up? Come on. Come on. >> The young man was visibly nervous. clearly worried his girlfriend might overhear him snitching. But what he didn't seem to realize is that secrets don't stay buried for long. Sooner or later, the truth always comes out. >> And she stole his. >> That's where came from. I promise. All my daughter's life. >> It's her. Yes. >> So she Okay. >> I don't want to tell you guys that though because that is my girlfriend and I do love her with all my heart. But I mean >> I'm just going to be straight with this. She's going to get charged with it anyway. Whether you guys didn't tell me whether you didn't tell me that or anything. She's going to get charged with it cuz it's in her possession in the car. >> I'm not going to lie and say it's mine and she stole it from some dude that she was talking to. >> All right. That's all we want to know. And I know I get it. I worked in jail. >> Don't tell her that. I told you. >> I worked No, I'm not going to say anything. I worked in jails and prisons. I know. I know about the snitch thing. I get that. >> Yeah. I'm not Don't tell I do not want her to tell. >> I get all that. So, I'm not going to We want to make sure we charge the right person. >> She does know a lot of dope boys and she could hurt real bad. Like, and I ain't trying to, you know, get she stole somebody's gun and I told you guys that it was her. >> All right, we're going to play it off like she's in she's in construction's possession of it cuz nobody's admitting to it. That's how we're going to play it off. >> I didn't tell you guys nothing. >> In the end, the boyfriend was hit with a petty theft charge while his girlfriend got the same, plus additional charges for possession of a firearm and drug paraphernelia with intent to use. Snitching might save you, just don't expect it to stay quiet. And if you're both guilty, love won't keep you out of handcuffs. >> Whole car looks a mess cuz I lost my wallet. And they can even tell you. >> On May 25th, 2025, officers were dispatched in response to reports of a woman stealing a cart full of merchandise. A manager at Gabes Calls 911 to report a theft by a woman driving a neon green Jeep Renegade accompanied by her 9 10-year-old son. She allegedly used a laundry bag to sneak out stolen goods. Not your usual shopping trip. >> Southbound on North Fairfield. >> Correct. Going towards Speedway. >> And what's the description of the person? >> White blonde hair and has her 9 or 10year-old son that has a >> white female blonde hair is driving. >> Yes, ma'am. >> All right. I've got somebody on the way up there. >> Okay. Thank you. >> All right. Thanks. Bye. >> Turn your vehicle off. Put your key. Officers quickly spot the bright vehicle and stop the woman later identified as Charity. She claimed she was just looking for her lost wallet and had only come from five below. >> Get them. Just stay right there then. All right. >> You're in my >> hands where I can see them, everybody. All righty. Officer, stay at Beaver Creek. You're being stopped on suspicion of theft from Gab. >> I just left Gabes. >> Exactly. Okay. Keep your hands where I can see him. >> Yes. >> All righty. What's the little one doing? What's his name? >> Playing his iPad. His name's Elijah. >> Elijah. >> I don't have his face. Oh, that's okay, buddy. All righty. So, I'm going to have you step out of the vehicle for me, please. >> All righty. What's your name? >> His name's Elijah. >> What's your name? >> Oh, Charity. >> Charity. All right. >> I just left Gab. >> I know. Step back here for me. You >> And I went back cuz uh I lost my wallet. >> Okay. >> Um and I'm Five Below. >> Okay, I got you. Okay. So, what do you mean you went back there? >> I I left there, lost my wallet. >> Yeah. >> Was looking for my wallet cuz I got to go to Kroger. >> Okay. So, I went through the whole car, went back to Gazal, and then I went to Five Below, and I found a Five Below. >> Listen up. So, like I said, they said that you had stolen some items from them. >> No. >> And some kind of laundry bag or laundry basket? >> No, I don't have no laundry basket. >> No laundry bag. No laundry basket. Well, they gave this exact Jeep with this plate number with your exact description. So, I don't know why they >> I went back in there to get my wallet. Maybe they thought I took a wallet. >> Okay. Okay. Where was your wallet? >> It was next. It was in Five Below, but I went back in there and I came right back out. So maybe they thought >> Did you have merchandise when you walked in >> the store? Did you have merch? >> You just had your purse. >> Yeah. >> Did you buy anything anywhere? Did you buy anything anywhere >> at Five Below? >> At Five Below? Yeah. >> And you did you bring that merchandise into Gabes with you? >> No. >> So >> I'll go up to Gabes and see what what they're saying. >> Okay. You're saying that you walked into Gabes? >> Yeah. I went back into Gage, looked for my wallet, and then I came back out and maybe they thought since I walked in and came right back out with him, maybe they thought I took something. >> You have items from Gage, >> huh? You have >> no Five Below. >> I see I see Gage Five Below. >> I see Gab's tags right here in the >> That's old stuff. >> That's old stuff. >> That's old stuff. That goes to my niece and nephew. >> Okay. >> That's stuff from weeks ago. >> From weeks ago. >> I don't see them in for another couple weeks cuz I have >> Okay, I got you. Her story begins to fall apart. Officers notice Gab's price tag still attached to some items in the car. Charity insists they're old gifts for her niece and nephew. Suspicious to say the least. >> It's going to pat you down. Okay. >> Yeah. >> Oh, actually, Officer Stevens is going to pat you down. That seems a little suspicious. You know what I'm saying? >> I know, but I swear I went I literally went back in there looking for my wallet and then I came right back out. So, that has to be what it is. I have a feeding tube. Jody, as as of right now, you are being detained based on suspicion of theft. I know that you have your story, but we still have to make sure everything's good. Okay, >> you can make sure everything's good. >> I know. I'm just letting you know. And and given that little bit >> and given that, I'm just going to read you your rights. Okay. Would you care if I looked at some of these items and stuff? I can. All right. I just wanted to double check. What's up, buddy? >> You remember that Thomas the bad guy? >> Thomas, my shirt, my whole car looks a mess cuz I lost my wallet. And they can even tell you or her that I went back in there looking for my wallet. >> Okay. But you like I'm saying here, we just step back just for a second. >> All this stuff goes to my niece and nephew. >> Okay. Do you have do you have any way to prove that? Do you have any like uh receipts or anything like that for me? >> Sir, I couldn't have walked out with all this stuff. >> I mean, I don't know. I don't know if you could or not. I don't know why they would call us. >> It's mostly all from Five Below. >> Okay. Well, I mean, there's Gabe stuff on here. And Gabe, >> there is Gabe stuff that's been in my car that goes to my niece and nephew. >> Where's your ID at? >> Can I get it? >> Yep. >> Okay. >> I hope you're not lying to me. >> I'm not lying to you. I How could I walk out with that much stuff, sir? >> I mean, it's it's happened before. >> No, no, no. >> If you were to have taken it and it's all less than $1,000 and you don't have any warrants or ones for your arrest or anything like that, you wouldn't you'd be just getting a ticket and have to go to court. That'd be there's a couple of ifs there, but are you 100% certain that you didn't take a single thing? Because Gab is gonna tell us. >> Okay, they can tell you. >> Okay. All right. I just It's just weird. They normally don't call us. >> I know, but I've been in there. I went back in there. Maybe they thought I took something. Not unless he >> As officers prepare to detain her, she blames her son, saying he has ADHD and once took things without her knowing. A classic blame the kid maneuver. >> Okay. And I've got in trouble for it before. >> Okay. >> I didn't take it. He likes to grab things and take it. >> Oh my god. >> Dave has to just see me walk in and walk back out and thinking I've taken something. >> Okay. Okay. >> I didn't go out the >> the main portion. >> I went out the way you walk in. >> Okay. >> Nothing alarmed. No, you know. >> Okay. All right. So, um, your driver's license is suspended, but you have driving privileges. What are your privileges? I was on my way to Kroger to get uh well I had to stop and get his iPad and I'm on my Kroger to get my prescriptions. >> And where are you coming from? >> Gabes and or Five Below. >> What we at Five Below for >> some things for him since school's out and his ADHD is so bad. I got him a couple things. >> What does it specifically say on your driving privileges that you're allowed to do? >> That I'm allowed to take care of my kids and wherever I got to go for my kids is fine. Work and doctors. >> Turns out Charity's driver's license is suspended. though she claims she's allowed to drive for child care. She finally admits to taking baskets, lanterns, a trash can, and sheets, but insists no clothes were taken. >> Is anybody able to give me a picture of that or anything? >> Yes. Okay. >> Can I call? >> Yes, you can. >> So, she has video. >> She's calling. She She's suspended with privileges. She says she doesn't have her paper. >> Privileges. >> Right. Right. But she's trying to get a hold of somebody to see what privileges are. >> You can send a picture. It's in the mail slot. say you're allowed to go shopping. >> I'm I'm allowed to take care of my kids, go to doctor's appointments, go to the grocery, get my prescriptions, >> um and go get to and from getting my kids. >> Okay. Did you do any of those things right now? >> Yeah. >> What did you do? >> Um since we're out of school and his ADA is she's so bad, I took him by Gab before I went to Kroger for grocery and get my prescriptions to get him some things to play with. >> I got to level four. >> So, they have you pushing out a cart. >> Pushing out a cart. Uh-huh. >> I got one more left. >> There's an offer up there. >> You just got to be straight with us. >> I Okay, I had the trash can. >> Thank you. Okay. What else? >> But the Gabe stuff seriously was for my niece and nephew. >> Okay. What about the >> the baskets? Lanterns and stuff. >> Sorry. >> The baskets and lantern. That's it. >> Okay. The other stuff. That's all I needed to know. >> No, they're saying there's more stuff. Maybe even other stuff that's in here from >> That was That was it. The rest I got from Five Below. I had those baskets. What is there any Gabe? Anything with like Gabes? >> Officers find more Gabes tags and store photos confirming the theft. Charity keeps denying involvement, saying those items are weeks old. >> Right. It's really in the trash can. I have the baskets. >> Why don't you show me what you talking? Cuz it's really hard for me to believe anything you're saying since you've already lied to me. So, that's unfortunate. But >> I'm I'm keeping it straight. >> Okay. Well, >> the baskets. >> Yep. >> The trash can. Yep. The lantern. >> Yep. The lanterns, >> sheets. >> Okay. >> And the rest is clothes. Um, everything else from Five Below. >> What about everything in this? >> No, I searching for my wallet. That's why everything looks like this. >> So, but everything in this? >> This is from Five Below. This stuff is from Gabes. This >> All that's from Gabes? >> Yes. >> Okay. Here. Give it to me. >> Yes. >> So, anything with a Gabe sticker or a Gabes tag, I can assume is from Gabes. Is that correct for today? >> No. Not today. The only the only thing today is the trash can, the baskets, the lanterns, and the sheets. >> I wish she would have been just honest with me from the getgo. That would have been great. >> What about these? >> She said that she took those. Those >> Yep. And the lanterns and the trash can. She said all the clothes are from the floor. >> The clothes are I did not have any clothes. >> She said she did not take any clothes this time. But what about these signs? >> No, I've had those. >> You've had these signs? They sent the welcome sign. They can see and >> No, I got that and I got the clothes. >> The picture they just sent. >> Yeah, it's in the picture. Yeah, I see the picture they sent. >> I didn't have it. >> It's in the picture. >> Okay. >> She's got this thing on there. Her kitchen. No, it looks >> I have a receipt for that purse at Rena Center. >> Where'd you get it from? >> Ren Center. >> You got this from Rent Center? >> Yes. Yes. that and a bunk bed at the same time. Renaisser speaking of anything. Also, I had accidentally acquired your car. Elijah, >> get up here. >> Sorry. >> It's fine. No, you're good. I >> mean, her son waits near the car. Officers start sorting which items came from Gabes and which from Five Below. Charity finally admits to stealing because she couldn't afford the items. Eat >> that, buddy. Hey, Elijah. Here. I want you to stay where we can see you, buddy. Okay. I don't want you going to get hit on the road. That'd be really really bad. Okay. >> Weeks ago, I got the clothes. The rest of the stuff, yes, I took today. I took it. I didn't have the money for it. And talking about this isn't back. >> I got that weeks ago. >> Have you seen anything with clothes? Yes. They're still backtracking. >> They're still looking. Okay. >> She was there at 10 something, too. >> As well, >> like two separate occasions. >> Was she there two different times or three different times? Everything else is from Five Below. >> Okay. >> You gave the call. >> Buy some at Five Below. >> Yes, I did. >> Today as well. >> Today? >> Yeah. >> How come you don't have bags? >> As I obviously there's a theft. You're under arrest. You understand that, right? >> Yep. >> You're under risk for theft just given what we have here from what you've already explained to us. >> Well, Olivia's here with us. >> What do I do about getting my I have epilepsy. I need my seizure meds. And >> just hold on to all this crap up. >> So, listen. You're going to No. >> Listen, you're going to come up with us. We're going to go back up to Gabes. We're going to determine what came from Gabes or not. Anything that didn't come from Gabes, then we will figure it out from there. >> It says on it what says Five Below and what says Gabes? >> Yes, I understand that. But there are some clothing items that say Gabes as well. >> Yes. >> Right. So, those you're you're still saying that those stitch shirts, >> but you were saying that those were not taken there or those were taken. >> Those were not taken. has lied to us since we've got here. >> I lied to you one time and then I came to one time. You said nothing. >> So, did you take any clothes today at all? Yes or no? Be straight. >> I did not take any clothes I >> No clothes today. >> The only clothes I have is from Five Below. >> There's Gab's clothes in this pile? >> Yes, I got that weeks ago. >> Okay. >> How come was it Was he in the car seat? Huh? Was he in the car? >> No, he was in the front seat. No, he was not. He was in the front seat. >> Oh, yeah. He was in the front seat playing his head. Total value of stolen goods from Gabes, nearly $650. Five Below confirms more stolen items, but declines to press charges due to store policy. >> 115. >> I'm not going to argue. Go >> ahead. >> I appreciate it cuz you need to grow up something. So, >> it's sad that you would do that with a kid. >> I >> And your your intention is to do that with a child is simply so you wouldn't go to jail. >> No, I don't. >> Yes, it is. This isn't my first day. You This isn't your first day either. >> Child. >> Well, you're a good >> I know >> a good person to be teaching your child. Very great example. >> A good example at all. >> You're a great example. >> No, that's far from the truth. >> Don't come to my city and steal. Tell you that right now. But I got to deal with somebody who want >> Shockingly, this is Charity's third theft related arrest in 6 months. Officers are fed up and call her out for involving her child as a shield against jail time. >> You lied the whole moment. We We got you as far as what you stole, what you didn't steal. >> And then I told the officer the truth >> after you got caught. >> No, no. I told him. He kept asking me and I denied it and then I said, "Okay." >> Right. Because you got caught >> below. I >> Oh, so now you're committing. You're admitting now that you still has five of them below. No, I don't know what happened. What didn't get scanned at Five Below, but I told them it was for my son since school's out and he's got ADHD. Whatever that they didn't scan >> or whatever accident happened, whatever he grabbed cuz he likes to grab stuff and I don't know, I will gladly pay for it. My cards in my wallet, it's for him. >> I will pay for it. >> We could have been done with this hours ago, but you just want to play games. How am I playing games? >> Well, just be honest. >> I was honest. >> At what point were you honest? >> The third time he asked me and I told him the truth >> the third time. >> He asked me once. He asked me. >> So don't ever yell at your son if he doesn't listen to you until after the third time because you don't listen after the third time. >> Charity admits to some wrongdoing but tries to shift blame to her son, saying he grabbed unscanned items. Officers aren't buying it. You only came clean after getting caught. What kind of example are you setting? >> But you don't care. >> Yes, I do. >> No, you don't. This ain't your first time. >> You don't have to be an [ __ ] >> I'm sorry, but you know what? Like, somebody's got to step up for this kid. >> No, I I do know what I did was wrong. >> Okay. Well, I hope this is the last time. >> Charity will likely face theft charges for stealing $650 in merchandise, which could be a misdemeanor or felony, depending on her record. She may also be charged with driving under suspension and child endangerment for involving her son. Stealing, especially repeatedly and involving a child, only deepens legal consequences and damages trust. Honesty from the start can't erase a crime, but lying always makes it worse. >> Don't want to mess up your watch. >> Mhm. On August 9th, 2023, officers were dispatched to Target in response to reports of a woman with 35 prior incidents who had entered the store and was attempting to steal again. >> How about I think he said for the case? >> Yeah. Yeah. How? >> Uh now I'm think she's going to try to push out. I think it's Um, >> he knows more about it than I do. >> Yeah. >> Hey guys, how you doing? >> What's up? >> Got a lady. She ticket switches stuff. She she ticket switches like um >> she ticket switches using stock barcodes usually. >> A little bit. >> Um, >> what was it based on? like 2400. >> We have a name for her. I'm not sure if it's 100% accurate, but we have her as Thelma Grant. >> Thema Grant. >> Yes, >> that's a old name. >> Yeah, she's old lady. I don't feel bad for her, though. She's She knows what she's doing. Like, she's been doing this for a while. Like, just to give you some insight. $2,400 in theft. >> How many 32 incidences? >> Yeah. So, she's been doing this for a while. So, usually what she does is she grabs like little stock barcodes that are like a dollar, a little bit less, and she'll put that on whatever else she's buying. >> Her sneaky trick, swapping price tags from cheap stuff like $0.50 plastic cups onto the expensive goodies. Think champagne tastes on a soda budget. >> So, that's kind of how I picked up on her today. I was like, "Okay, she's she's been hitting us forever." Like, her incident started 2020. So, she's been doing it for 3 years now. >> I think she's doing the switching in there where she's changing the barcodes out is what she did. She selected like an abundance of those, >> but she just tape them on. >> Well, they're sticky is what it is. So, um those 50 cent cups and the 50 cent bowls, like the little plastic ones. >> Oh, yeah. >> She selected a lot of those. So, what I'm thinking cuz I've never seen her figure before, but what she's probably doing is taking the barcodes off of those and putting them putting them onto the apparel items that she selected and the other stuff. So, she can pay 50 cents for those. Oh, no, no, no. We'll get her um once she pays at a POS and once she exits, we have to like Target makes us let them leave. That way it shows like there's no possible way they could have intended to properly pay. Like that's why they call it the last point of sale. Like there's no way that she could have paid proper. She'd been pulling this move since 2020, racking up more than $2,400 in discounts. That's a lot of savings. >> See that? Look at that's a big black bowl that she scanned. That's a small white little cup that she scanned. So, we're good. >> Let's just wait till she passed off points. >> Target's policy says they can't act until a suspect finishes paying and exits. So, officers waited while Thelma did her thing. Hey ma'am, drop your phone for me. >> Uhhuh. >> Drop your phone for me. >> Yes. >> You're under arrest right now. Okay. Place your hands. Place your hands behind your back. We'll tell you as soon as you're uncuffed. >> What I did as soon as you're cuffed. >> What did I do? >> What's you just Let me get some handcuffs on you and then um >> we'll bring you back and we'll explain everything. >> Yeah. >> Sorry. >> Well, I'll let you know. Just let me get these cuffs on you real quick. Don't want to mess up your watch. >> Mhm. >> What in the world did I do? >> We'll explain. Just give us a second. [Music] >> Would you like me to grab your cell phone for you? >> Yes. What did I do, ma'am? >> So, let's explain it in the office. Okay. >> You going to move it over there? >> Did you want me to disconnect the call? >> Yes. >> What did I do? >> I'll check your purse, Miss >> Okay. So, >> the loss prevention officer is going to explain everything to you. Yes. >> Um, we're just going to sit down, have a conversation, and >> he'll explain everything, >> right? Cuz I didn't I mean, for y'all to come up and just handcuff me like that in front of everyone, and I didn't do anything. >> Explain everything back here. >> How you all going to handcuff me? >> Have a seat over here on the the bench for me. >> Yes. >> That's good. You can sit there or there. >> Yeah. I don't want to sit down. >> Have a seat. >> I want to sit down, sir, because this hurt me. This hurt my arms. So switching switching the barcodes of switching the barcodes of an item is a crime. >> I didn't switch no barcode. >> They have you on camera, ma'am. And we have >> What did you do? Sir, you didn't see me switching nothing. I didn't switch no barcode anywhere. >> Yes, ma'am. >> Sir, show me, please. >> I have I have it right here. They They've seen it. They >> sir. No. Uh-uh. You You need to show me. Show me. What did I do? >> You don't need to show. Okay. >> Show me. What did I do? >> Did you switch the barcodes of the items that you rang over? This is just the barcode. Sir, I promise you I didn't switch no barcode. >> I We have it on, >> sir. I didn't switch no barcode. >> What's your name? >> I I didn't switch no barcode. >> Okay. >> Even when shown clear video proof, she doubled down. Said she was just looking for the right size. >> At first, I came here. I was going to um change my pajamas, but I didn't have I couldn't get into the chime. >> I made a china like a debit card. I can't get >> your pajamas. Yes, I I had I bought me some pajamas yesterday. Yeah, but then when I got to the register um she told me it was fine for me to go ahead and put that in there. I don't have anything else. >> I was just looking for You got ID in here, ma'am? >> No, my my um ID and everything is in the car. >> What's your name? >> And and then for you to go, you you're not supposed to just search my clo my um items. >> Well, you're arrested right now, ma'am. So, >> yes, but what I'm saying is arrested for what? >> Shoplifting. >> Shoplifting. Please sit down. Sir, show me proof that I shot within anything. >> We just told you, >> sir. I didn't I No, I did not. No, I did not. >> Okay, have a seat for me. >> That Oh, no. Uh-uh. Um, the only thing I did, I went and I bought what I had. I I was trying to get my money off the chime the whole time. >> What's your name? >> I'm not giving that information unless y'all tell me some stuff. >> We did. >> No, no, y'all did not. The first thing y'all did was handcuff me. >> I just told you you're under arrest for shopping. >> How you under arrest? First of all, sir, look here. First of all, I didn't leave out the store with anything. And I didn't change no I didn't change no prices on anything. The only thing I did was scan what I had. >> When you were scanning things, they were it was coming up as a white plastic cup. >> Listen, I scanned what I had. You're not going to sit up here and tell me that I shoplifted anything. >> Okay? I stand the stuff that I had. >> That's something that if you wish to fight it in court, you can fight it in court. >> Oh, I'm definitely going to fight this in court. Okay. >> I'm definitely going to fight this in court. Now, >> what's your last name or something? >> Not until y'all give me some information because this is not fair. >> We observed you bringing up items on the camera and we >> Man, I bring up everything. No, those are mine cuz my bag is in the car. Those are mine. >> Her selecting us on camera. >> Those are mine. I have you on camera. >> No, no, sir. First of all, you seen me get another size. >> That's what I did. And if you see me, if you seen what I put it back. >> Okay. I'll tell you what. We won't need to prosecute for this. Then we'll just prosecute her >> because Yeah. Because the only thing you had to do is look and see that I was getting another size. That's all. I understand. >> And they didn't have another size. >> Okay. Okay. But you still switch merchandise today. And that's what we're going to uh >> Okay. And we have 30. >> And then And then you are not supposed to search my purse. This lady right here is supposed to search. >> No. >> If you would like me to search instead of >> Yes, ma'am. >> Yes, ma'am. Because this is out of order right here. What they're doing? This is very much out of order. >> Do you want me to finish the search? >> Uh, put my stuff back in my purse. Put everything back in my purse because I'm not Uh-uh. I'm I'm very This is very Uh-uh. Mm- mm- Sir, you can put my Those are my items. >> These? >> Yes, those are mine. You can put them right back in my purse. >> Those might be hers. Put them back in there. But so we're not even going to prosecute on this. We're just going to prosecute prosecute. I didn't take anything, sir. >> Switch the barcode. >> Sir, I switched the barcode. Yes. >> First of all, I didn't switch any barcodes on anything. And I'm going to sue Target. Oh, heck no. Uh-uh. No. No. No. I'm going to I'm going to sue you all. I'm going to sue you all because this is not fair. This is not right. Nope. >> Okay. >> And then have the police to come and handcuff me at the register around everybody. >> Okay. >> Oh, heck no. Uh-uh. >> All right. Didn't even Didn't even bring me back here. Didn't even bring me back here. You're going to come up there and handcuff me in front of everybody. >> Okay, now >> Oh, I'm definitely going to get me a lawyer. >> Sounds like I'm not talking to you because I didn't because you didn't do anything to me. >> Okay. >> You didn't You stood back. >> You're the reason why we're here. >> Listen, it doesn't matter, brother. He's the reason. I'm talking about what you all did. Kenny just bam me out the store. >> Was doing that, too. >> I know that. But can he let me go? >> That's up to them. But I don't think they are. >> Sir, >> that's that's all I'm asking. Sir, >> we can't. >> Please, sir. Please. Cuz this is going to be on me and I'm going to lose my job. I work at the hospital and date surgery. Please. Please, sir. >> He's got to keep his job, too. >> I I understand that, but this judge, it's their call. >> Then came the tears. Thelma pleaded. Said she's a hospital worker and begged not to be arrested. She might lose her job. >> Please, sir, if I lose my job, if this is only it, please. It took me so long to get this job. >> Please, sir. I'm just begging you. Please, just one. Just please. >> I just can Can I just pay for the stuff in you, please, sir? >> I can't. Unfortunately, we've had 30 previous incidents of you doing this >> from here. >> I do, >> sir. No, you sir, I've never Oh my god. You've never been to this store before? >> Is that what you're saying? >> I always shop in here. I live right down the street. >> Okay, >> sir. You have never caught me in no shoplifting or anything like that in here. >> I >> Oh my god. I can't believe this. I No. No, you did not. Uh-uh. >> Sir, what? How much is the items? >> Oh my.
