Turn around. Why are you doing that? Turn around. Why are you doing that? No. Well, relax. Well, relax, you liar. I wasn't stealing from nobody. Get on the ground. Today, we dive into a world of mind-boggling foolishness as we take a closer look at some of the dumbest criminals ever caught. Get ready to shake your head, laugh out loud, and marvel at the absolute comedy of crime gone wrong. >> You have warrants. I have warrants. Oh, no. Don't pull away. Put your hand behind your back. Have a seat inside. Oh my god. Wait, I have my receipt. On July 24th, 2025, police responded to Walmart after loss prevention reports women concealing merchandise and bypassing checkout without paying. They cleared the whole cart from the top, huh? Oh, Doreen Medrano or no, Ophelia Medrano and Magdalena, maybe. She's the one that pushed out the cart. What's that name? Oh, she didn't scan that one, that box. What box? That box you just put in the bag, she didn't ever scan it. Oh, she's got the wand in her hand or what? Uh, maybe she wanded it. I just can't remember the curly-haired ones. I know she said Is she's Is she scanning? Security footage and staff describe suspects pretending to scan items, concealing products in bags, and attempting to leave with unscanned goods. >> Stuff with the wand or what? All right, I'm going to try that one first. Pause. Put something in a box or in a bag. It didn't even look like she was scanning. Think she scanned the purple one twice or what? >> No, she put the purple one back. No, she put one in right now. >> Yeah, but she has two blue ones. Yeah. [Music] Where is she going? [Music] This is one back there with something. Still didn't scan the blue ones? She scanned the purple ones. She took one blue one out. She has one blue one in there. She just brought trash bags. She didn't scan those, either. She wadded a thing of trash bags. She went and got some, and then they checked at the She covered it with her fingers. Oh, when she tried pretending like she scanned it. Just one bra or couple? I think it's a pack. These two. Officers simultaneously detain two women while a female officer intercepts another shoplifter, showing multiple thefts occurring at once. [Music] Suspect Ophelia Montano is read her rights. She admits prior trespass bans, but claims she only came for snacks for her grandchildren. She is cited for trespass again. So, Ophelia, I got to tell you something important before I ask you any questions, okay? You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have a right to an attorney. If you can't afford one, one will be provided for you during or after questioning, before questioning. Okay? Understanding these rights, do you want to talk to me? Yeah, I didn't do anything. Have you been trespassed from here before? Yeah, a long time ago. When's the last time? When did you get an application? Like in 2000 and like it's been a long time ago. I I come I come here a lot. Okay. I came here like I even came here yesterday. I I I don't I I paid I paid for all my things. And all I came here that's for my grandbabies because they're my daughter's going out and I'm watching my kid my grandbabies and she's waiting for me. I'm sorry if I if I'm trespassing. I paid for all my stuff. Oh, that's fine. Um, I won't come back. If I can just please let my grand my grandbabies that like I got to go watch them. Oh, yeah, that's fine. Um, we're going to go ahead and give you let you know that you were trespassed, okay? Because you did breach your trespass back in December and Jaime let you know. Um, but we're also going to trespass you for that bra, okay? So, can I I can I can go? What's your first name? What's your first name? I already know who you are. Your name is Ophelia, right? What's your last name? Janice. Well, she was trespassed in 2021. It's been a while, right? Um, well, hers has been a while. Yours is expired, but you're going to get trespassed again, okay? Starting today, so you have to wait you have to wait a year. Unless you get it with corporate online. No, no, no. Yeah, yours is indefinite cuz you kept breaching your trespass. So, Jaime caught you again, so we're letting you know again that you're trespassed. Next time, you're not going to walk. You're going to go to jail. >> Okay, I I won't I won't. Another suspect, Lord Janes, is caught removing a $20.88 charger from its packaging and concealing it. She insists she planned to pay, but is confirmed for shoplifting. So, obviously you know why I'm bringing you back in here, right? What is it that you put the prints in the bag? What was it that you got? A charger? Yeah, if you if you don't come within the next And were you going to pay for it? And you didn't pay for it. And if you breach it and they catch you, then why didn't you? I was going to. Then why didn't you? Because I was shopping with my friend, Rose. Go to some other store. So, if I see you So, yeah, if you if you don't come within the next year, you're good. You don't breach your trespass. Okay. Then you can get back in But if you breach it and they catch you, you're going to You're going to have to wait. You're going to add 2 years every time. I was going to pay for something a little bit too late. Uh-huh. You're going to pay? Yeah. What were you all on her? Just the charger. Oh, a charger. I was going to take it, though. Um, you guys can look it up, right? How much is that thing? Brenda is getting a total on both items right now. As the investigation progressed, Lord Janes was caught on camera removing a charger worth $20.88 from its packaging. >> Officers discover Janes also has an active statewide warrant, escalating her arrest. She resists slightly, but is taken into custody. The both items, is it like two items for me? No, one pair is one item. I was here earlier. You guys aren't scared of the cop car sitting out there? You know what happens with the cop car, right? You know what happens with the cop car, right? We put you in the back of it, right, and take you to jail. You took it out of the packaging. Yeah, but we can So, once you once you take an item out of the packaging, it's considered shoplifting. You're removing the item from its original packaging. Okay, you know what happens now, right? Turn around. You want to trespass her or you want to Uh, I can trespass her. It's all good. She's almost paid. Yeah, I don't know what to do. You got You have somebody that's outside waiting for you or no? All that stuff? During arrest procedures, officers check for contraband. James becomes emotional and argumentative claiming confusion about her warrant. >> So, all your stuff's going to go to the police department. So, so how do I How do I know like if I've court on the 28th, how do I have a warrant? It's probably for something else. But how do I know? I don't. I thought I was being like court on the 28th. We're not going to answer any questions until you sit in the car. But I have a right to ask this question. >> do. Sit down. I have a right to get them answered, no? Kick your feet in. Kick your feet in. I'll roll down the window. >> Officers advise suspects of Walmart-wide permanent trespass bans. James attempts to negotiate but is denied. I'm just going to advise you that you're now trespassed in that all Walmarts, not just this physical one. So, and Sans put And Sans put all of them. Yeah. So, again, if you go, you could be arrested. She's like she wasn't arrested thing. But, do you understand? Yes. All right, you're good to Thank you. So, I mean, if you need anything, sir. Thank you. Okay, come on out. We're going to go in this other car. Can you cover yourself? Uh, I can't. This. Now, you sign this, okay? Can I get a warning for the white one? Cuz they No, we don't give warnings on those. But it's But it's just fixed. You need to sign right there for me. I'm cutting your break by giving you this. I'm sorry. [Music] Final charges: Lord James included shoplifting, criminal trespass, and warrant extradition. Oylia Montano and Leslie Magalanes: formal trespass violations and permanent Walmart bans. The outcomes may include fines, probation, lasting criminal records, or even jail time. Stealing may seem small at the moment, but it quickly leads to bigger legal trouble than expected. Respecting the law and being honest is always easier than facing arrest and permanent bans. If you like this video, please sign up for Law Zone to receive more. Look out for the next shoplifter who will react even more aggressively. On the 8th of March, 2025, Las Cruces police respond to Walmart theft call after loss prevention reports a woman later ID'd as Donna Clark Medina concealing jewelry and other items in her hoodie and purse before leaving without paying. You're done? Donna Medina? Do you mind stepping out of the car? On to that side? Do you mind stepping out of the car? Okay, so Do you mind turning off your car for now? And And stepping out as well? Is there anything you don't have any license plate on your truck or anything? I put it in the back window. Oh, is it? Okay. Yeah, if you can, please. Where's Officers stop her black Toyota Tundra, question her, and confront her about shoplifting. She denies wrongdoing, though Walmart staff claim she was caught on camera hiding chains in her purse. >> So, where's all her bags? Is Did Did you put any I already cleared it. I drove here. Where are the bags? I don't know. Okay. What you doing out there in the back? They took everything out. And she said she took They said it was something under a green And she said they took it out. Okay, that's That you concealed some items, some chains? They did. They said they put it in They saw you putting it in your purse. You guys aren't checking my purse. So, at this time I do need to take you back. Over there, they're going to trespass Police explain Walmart's trespass procedure requiring her photo. She resists returning but eventually agrees after officers assure her it's necessary. I do not want to go back over there. You guys didn't hear about I'm I'm a lawyer. So, the way the Walmart does their stuff, they need to take a picture of you cuz you are being officially trespassed. You're not allowed to go back and they need your picture for that. So, I do need to take you back for that. >> want to go back over there. I really don't. They could take a picture of me and take it to them. It doesn't work that way. might wind up with them wanting to press charges on you. It's something that they think I put in my purse. I haven't seen the video on and I'm just talking to you. So, you're You're telling me you didn't steal it. I I have no idea. I have no idea. So, we need to go back, watch the video. Um take a picture of me and that's fine and can I leave and they can ban me for whatever they think I stole? And can I leave? Yep. As long as they're not going to press charges. I just don't want to go back over there. It's that We're right there. I'll deal with anybody else in there but them. Okay. We'll we'll have you deal with her. Is that Okay, that's fine. So, since I I'm going to put you in my unit. You're not under arrest or anything right now. Um is it okay if I pat you down cuz you are going into my unit. You don't have anything that's going to poke, stick me, or anything? I got nothing. I'm just going to check, okay? Yeah. Yeah, it's in the car. Yeah, it's in the front seat. It's um Actually, no, no. He'll grab it. Just describe it. It's a black It's just my wallet. Oh, it's just a wallet. You don't have like an actual purse. I have a wallet. Okay. All right, is it okay if you come with She is patted down and escorted back to Walmart. Officers recover some concealed items but two jewelry chains remain unaccounted for. All right, just put your hands behind your back. Like I said, you're not under arrest. It's just procedure for for a pat down, okay? Just like that. Yeah, just like that. And you don't have anything on you, right? No. They got stuff in their skinny jeans. The girls, you'd be surprised. All right. It's the big Yes, that one. Yeah. Can I get it? Cuz I'm blind. I don't have my contacts on. Yeah, just that. Okay. So, I'm going to put you in my unit. We're going to drive back. My cousin has cuz we did two transactions. For the pictures for they want her trespassed. They checked the method of Something about chain chains inside of her purse. I don't have any chains. chains Chains like like jewelry chains. It's the big big big one. The big big fat one. Can we grab that one? All right, do you want to have a seat in the back of her car? Follow me this way. Uh You're not going in handcuffs but I need you to step in there. [Music] If you cooperate with us, they won't Yeah. I don't like your guys' car. No, look. I Like I said, you can just have a seat in All right, he's going to hold on to your bag, okay? Here, go with this officer. When taken into the office, Donna resists forcing officers to handcuff her. She continues denying theft claiming Walmart took nothing from her bag. I'm sorry. I got to go and step in the back. Is there a reason why you're being resistive? No. You're under arrest for shoplifting. Uh, did you find any illegal items on you? You want to go and tell me? What's your name and address? Uh, I came in willingly and you are being very disrespectful. I talked to them already. Can I get your license? It's in the Open it up. [Music] Yeah, it's right here. Yeah, she's 15 for the There's video of that. Okay. All right, thank you. And then also, you're going to be trespassing on the property and you're going to be cited. That's it. Okay. I'm going to put this back in here first. That's not even the purse she was using earlier. Okay. That's fine. If you could just add the body chain that she had put >> I'll look at it. So, you're being arrested for shoplifting, right? No, I'm not aware that I shoplifted. You don't remember them taking the items out of your bag and the purse? >> take anything out of my bag. >> Okay. That's fine. Is the Robledo Vista address good for you? I don't have that address. You're homeless? I want to give you the address for my home. All right. There. It won't It won't tighten on you. Surveillance video clearly shows her hiding items in a gray hoodie and handbag, then walking past the checkout without paying. Officers note she concealed jewelry in a brown bag and refused to hand it over. You told me they were going to come and take it. I want the receipts. I have proof that I didn't take anything. The other asset protection guys wanted me to arrest her. She said she didn't take anything. You didn't even take it. They took it away. She brought it from the loss prevention. They took it out of the bag. If you pass like all points of sale like cash register or like start walking outside, that's automatic. They do that all the time and then I always prove them like I have the receipt and then they let me go. What was the other one? The receipt is what I can figure out over here. I appreciate you being cooperative with me. Inside the gray hoodie? Yeah. Yeah. We saw you do that. I have it all on video. It's all on video. As long as that don't mean I get me. I mean you I don't know why you concealed them. It's weird, right? I I That's odd. I agree. >> And I bought the shirt. You bought some, not the ones that were concealed inside of the hoodie. There shouldn't be nothing in the hoodie. Well, there was. We're going to take it. Okay. Cuz I Okay. All right. Okay. Did they give you the receipt? I mean she asked for these that she kind of Okay. Police confirm she paid for one hoodie, but concealed multiple items inside it. Another female companion was involved but did not conceal merchandise. >> So, it's going to be suspect is Donna Clark. This is yours? Thank you. And then they have video of her concealing the items in other items. So, then there was another brown bag that she managed to conceal in the video. That's the jewelry that she put inside the purse. Okay. She's walking out past all points of purchase. She's right here in this little lobby. She's in the lobby when they stopped her. Okay. And then that's when they pull out all that stuff. Okay. All the concealed stuff. So, she paid initially for like a gray hoodie and then she had stuffed all those other things in there and didn't pay for them. Okay. Was already walking out. They stopped her, started pulling all those things out and then um she didn't want to give them the jewelry from the purse, walks out with the jewelry in the purse. Okay. Uh I didn't send them And then I did get the receipt for that, so it's going to be $78. Yeah, this happened a long time ago. She was another female that they didn't conceal anything. So, it was like four shirts, three bras. The link I think he's going to want you to get consent for her. Do you need anything else from me, man? No, you're good. Do you need anything else from me? Do you need me? I have the RP info. I got her trespass and then I have the receipt and items and then send them the link for them to upload it, correct? Send them the link. I'll send the citation file. What do you send the citation? They have everything. For the RP, you could just send that link. Okay. Can I do that? Okay. And then I'll do primary and then obviously they'll just send that link to your TV. Okay. Do you have a case number for this one? I have one lady in the office. What? So, the two touch on two touch on two touch on two touch on Oh. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. She can't go in there. All right. I'll do a separate for this one. I'm just waiting for a case number. Give them the trespass warning. Oh, she she got it. She's awesome. Is she still Are we good here? Yeah, I'm just waiting for a case number and then I'm going to go take it. They're talking to 700, that's why. One, two. Are your hands free or you Actually, I can get it. I'll get it. Sounds good. You can Thank you. Yeah. Okay. Is it okay if I just toss them in there? Yeah. All right. Just make sure you don't lose it. I'll take your citation. I'll change the battery. [Music] So, I appreciate your cooperation. What I'm going to do is I'm just going to give you a criminal citation. Um it's basically this is a citation, you know, for not doing that, you know, took items. Um once you sign it, it's you just promising to appear >> Instead of immediate jail, Donna is issued a criminal citation for shoplifting requiring her to appear in court within 3 days. Officers warn failure to appear will result in a warrant. court within the next 3 days. Within the next 3 days. Um make sure you go though, otherwise I'll put out a warrant for you. And then after that you can just um I'll let you I'll release you. So, um give me like a few minutes. I have to type it up. And then stay right here. Thank you. Uh-huh. All right. So, go ahead and sign here. Like I said, I'll explain the work and I'm walking out here. Um Right here. And then the bottom copy is yours. Okay. So, you have until the day I circled it on your paper, okay, to show up to the the court mentioned on top. It's all in this space. So, all the information you you need, court, date. Make sure you just take care of it on Monday. And then um Otherwise, if you don't, Um my receipt is Monday for the ones that we stole and they're on the receipt. Do I just represent that to the judge? Yeah, you just talk to them, show everything you have. Okay. And then we'll come back. Make sure you take care of that, okay? All right. Thank you. Guys, stay out of trouble. Bye. All right. Guys, have a good one. Donna Clark formally charged with shoplifting based on surveillance footage, witness statements, and recovered items. Released after citation but must face mandatory court proceedings. Even small acts of theft can carry serious legal consequences once caught on camera. Surveillance and witness evidence make denial nearly impossible in court. If you like this video, please sign up for Law Zone to receive more. Look out for the next shoplifter who will react even more aggressively. >> I rebuke that in the name of Jesus. I don't have to do what she came over here for. They're going to make me do my time till October. I already know. On May 30th, 2024, another shoplifting case unfolded in Florida. This time at an Ulta Beauty store in Palm Beach. When an officer arrived on scene, he was informed that three suspects had fled the store and jumped into a brown Infiniti FX35. >> I know it's um I know two walked out together and they ran in that direction. And then that's all you saw? What did What did they >> There was a just stuff in their hands. There was a third girl that came out after the first two. They each had a basket full of stuff. Okay. And what did the third girl do? Um she was kind of just walking. The other two ran and then she picked it up and took it to the apartment. Okay. They picked her up then in the car. Yeah, back there. Back there. The bag. I got messed up in the back of that bag and [ __ ] up. Walked away. Walked away. They didn't take anything. Did you see them take it? All three. So, I saw all three of them exit the store by my parking. I backed in. All three of them ran out the back. All three of them. If I can show you the video, we can look at it together. Yeah, sure. I think one of them actually was here like literally 4 days ago. Really? Yeah, so. The officers gathered all the evidence and information they needed including the suspect's license plate number. Unfortunately, by the time everything was documented, the trio was already long gone. I was stopping in the road. [Music] All right. That's what I'm doing in the road. Let me see. I'm going to pull over. Okay. Yeah. [Music] They had to brake like that. So, they walked up to the car and I'll take it if uh I Pull over to the side, please. Hello. Adrian, I'm trying to share this out. The reason why I pulled you over cuz the tag doesn't come back to anything. Do you have a license, registration, insurance? The officer wasn't concerned with any traffic violation. His focus was on the fact that these suspects were wanted for shoplifting. To keep the situation calm and avoid sparking a chase, he deliberately took his time making it seem like a routine traffic stop. >> Park it put the car in park. All right. He's going to run it back. This one is Breanna. The other one is What's your name, young lady? Huh? Caitlin. Caitlin, do you have your license on you inside of you? Oh, no. I don't have a license. You don't have a license. Do you have an ID card? Um I just look I just switched purses. Okay. All right. When the officer asked the second suspect for her ID, she dug through her bag pretending to search for it. After coming up empty-handed, she tried to cover by giving the cops a false name. >> No, I don't even have it. The license. [Music] Two of the girls, along with their vehicle, matched the description perfectly. They tried to hide their identities and grew defensive when questioned about the items inside the car. It's always refreshing to see suspects face the consequences with a smile. Once the girls finished preparing for their mug shots, they were taken to jail. They were later identified as Breanna Toombs and Natalia Rob, both charged with felony grand theft. Stealing and threatening others only escalates the situation and piles on more charges. Respecting the law and cooperating with officers can prevent a bad day from becoming much worse. After you see the next case, you may want to think twice. It's shocking. On September 7th, 2023, Patrolman Ryan Spa of the Eatontown Police Department responded to a call from a Target store regarding a shoplifting incident. When he arrived, he was met by an employee from the store's asset protection team ready to explain what had happened. The suspect was introduced to Officer Spa as Mary Ling, but without an ID and unable to speak a word of English, verifying her identity became a real challenge. [Music] The woman claimed she had a New Jersey ID, but had conveniently left it at home. Still, with a name and a state to work with, the officers now had enough to verify her story. Whether she truly didn't speak or understand English was hard to determine. [Music] [Music] When the officer searched her bag, they discovered several unpaid items including a breast pump and baby clothes. Sadly, instead of putting her child first, she chose deception. Stand up. Let's go. >> Come on. Stand up. Come on. Can you make your way over to the Target, please? Stand up. Return to force. 1 2 Thank you. Tell her to cooperate. The quicker we go, the quicker She said, um, if you could just charge her or, you know, give her a ticket. Nope, that's how I did it. No, I have No, I have to do that. No, we have to do it and Okay, let's go. She just keeps saying You want to pull What is that? You want to pull a car over? Pull over like right up here. Tell her to Tell her to stop resisting. You can tell her if she cares about her child, tell her to stop resisting. Cuz we're we're really trying to be gentle here and [Applause] Come on, let's go. Stand. Stand up. No. No. No. Come on, I'll come right back. After being processed, officers uncovered the truth. She had given them a fake name all along. Her real identity was revealed as 25-year-old Maris Ernestina Velasquez. In order, she was again arrested for shoplifting roughly 2 weeks later at the very same Target. Lying about your identity only makes a bad situation worse. Honesty could have spared her from even heavier consequences, but this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. Wait on there, come on. Come on. What are you doing this, man? On Feb 28th, 2025, police responded to a Walmart theft in progress involving a man threatening customers with a meat tenderizer. Hey, man. Excuse us, sir. No. We got to talk to you, all right? You're not free to leave right now. You're being detained. Hm? You're not free to leave. You're being detained right now. Do you have an ID on you? Do you have any kind of ID on you whatsoever? Okay. You got his name? Yeah. What's his last name and how do you spell it? Look, man, we know you came in here, you didn't pay for some stuff. It's not that big of a deal. All right, but we got to talk about it at least. Okay, we're not here picking you out for no reason. There's a reason No, no, no, you're not free to leave. You are not free to leave. If you walk away, you're going to be under arrest. Do you understand me? Acknowledge you understand me. Stop. You're going to get tased. Put your hands behind your back. Stop tensing up. >> Put your hands behind your back. You're not? All right. Look, stop tensing up. >> Officers confront the suspect who resists commands. They warn him he'll be tased if he doesn't comply. Eventually, he's handcuffed. >> All right, you are now under arrest. Put your hands behind your back. I don't want to tase you. You seem like a respectable guy. I know you're freaking out a little bit right now. Put your hands behind your back. We don't want to hurt you. We'll walk through the whole thing, but we need you to comprehend what we're saying and put your hands behind your back. No, please let me go. What do you want to do? What do you want to do? You want to what? You talking about the bag? Okay, put your hands behind your back. Put your hands behind your back. Appreciate you. That's all we're asking you to do. [Music] Appreciate you. 41195 Police tried to de-escalate moving him to a private security office to avoid public embarrassment and calmly explain the process. Okay. Take your what? What is that? I'm just saying I don't think you want to be in public in front of handcuffs and everybody right now. So, I'm trying to show you some respect. There's going to be other people in there and it's not like we're saying we're going to beat you up if that's what you're thinking right now. We're just literally going to talk to you in a private room. We're going to get everything sorted out there, all right? I'm not I'm not lying to you. I'm not lying. You got to communicate with us. Well, if you're going to sit here with us All right. All right. Time to exercise these rights. Do you understand those rights? Well, you've been understanding English so far, so I'm going to assume you do. Keep them on there. While checking his bag, the suspect objects, but officers remind him he is under arrest, so his belongings must be searched. >> Stop standing around. Stop. All right. Just I don't want him to have anything down here. [Music] Excuse me, sir. Yeah. Why are you checking my bag? You're under arrest. Everything's going to be checked. You don't have probable cause. You're under arrest. Everything's going to be checked. Officers notice he has been drinking tequila and attempt small talk like asking about workouts to keep him calm. How much of that How much of that tequila did you drink today? Cuz I can smell it on your breath. Is it just that little amount? Did you just start drinking? You want to talk about it? So, you like to work out, right? How much you benching nowadays? You don't know? I don't know if this is stuff that he went back and got. That's why I'm having them confront >> continues resisting, tries slipping out of cuffs, and complains of pain. Officers warn him about additional felony charges if he kicks or strikes them. >> Confirm exactly what he took. What he's going to go for obstruction at least. And the retail theft unless they say they say he didn't, but they were pretty confident. What's he getting? We're going to stand you up, okay? We're going to walk you outside. I didn't even buy anything. Get on your knees. There you go. We'll walk outside. Please, please don't do that. You're going to go. Come on. Wait, please, please, please don't do Give me your shoulder. Okay. All right. You just Grab a guy. We'll grab one. Got him. Stop kicking. Stop. You hit any of us, you're going to catch felony charges. We'll give you one chance. If you do not sit in there, we will have to force you in and you're going to catch more charges. If you kick or hit or anything to one of us, you're going to catch more charges. So, we're going to give you the chance to go in here voluntarily. Do you understand? Yes. All right. At the very least can we start What do you My thumb hurt like a mother so Which thumb? He's trying He's trying to He's trying to get He's trying to He's trying to go like this with his thumb to get out. Which Oh, that one? Oh. >> One for one. All right. That one's tightened up, so you can't do that. Final charges: resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, retail theft, and assault on a correction officer. These charges carry very serious consequences. Resisting arrest and disorderly conduct could lead to fines, probation, or short jail time. Retail theft may result in higher penalties, depending on the value stolen, ranging from probation to felony charges. Assaulting a correction officer is often a felony and can mean several years in prison, making the overall outcome potentially severe. Stealing and threatening others only escalates the situation and piles on more charges. Respecting the law and cooperating with officers can prevent a bad day from becoming much worse. But this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. Walmart. Okay. Yeah. All right. Cool. But understand On April 5th, 2024, police responded to a shoplifting call at Walmart. Security identified a gold Acura sedan leaving the lot. Officers stopped the car and detained the driver and passenger. I can a passenger. Put your hands on top of the the dash. On top of the dash. That phone, whatever you got in your hand, let it go. Put it on top of the dash. All right. Is that about the property? Huh? Move her away from the door. And you're being detained for uh investigation. What's your name? All right. I'm going to have you step out. All right. Now that she's detained I can't do the rest. And take out your personal items. Can you place them in that? Can she Oh, I was just going to say, can she take my call my son? >> Let's figure all this We're figuring it all out, right? >> woman complains of discomfort with handcuffs and insists all her items in the car were paid for. She claims to have receipts for everything. >> Okay. We'll get to that point eventually. Okay. All right. Explain to her too. Okay. All right. Let me take it. Can't she take a cigarette? I can't sit down. I have >> the bumper. >> a hernia. Oh, mine are free. I can't sit down. Oh, you just Just Just lean back here. I'll say 10-12 with her. Oh. And then see what you got to do. Can you twist this, please? This one? Yeah. All right. Just lean forward a little bit. Lean forward so I can get better angle. I'm going to undo it. All right. I'm going to turn your wrist inward, okay? All right. Stay right there. Is that better? Lean back. Do you know what's going on right now? No. Okay. So I guess Walmart called about um a shoplifting or something. So Officers question her background. She admits to a prior arrest for fraud. She expresses confusion about the current investigation. I want to be put in the store. Okay. Do you have ID in the car? Yeah. Okay. Ma'am, you ever been arrested before? For? Um straight fraud. Fraud? That's the last time you got arrested? Yeah. I got arrested Oh, no. I'm dating a guy right now. [Music] We get with um Walmart yet? They're coming. Okay. [Music] I ran her car. Came back to her. We can run her. There's no escaping that sun, bro. I'm trying to I'm trying to I'm trying to hide. I wish I can give you some You want to sit in the car better or no? No, okay. I need to get some shade. I'm like, there's no there's no shade in here. I start putting sunscreen. I'm like I put sunscreen and then I'm all like it's all like shiny. >> Yeah. Don't get shiny. Get a tan. Yeah. Why they won't tell me what's going on, but she know what's going on? Police read her Miranda rights. She admits having a bag in the store she did not pay for, but claims it was unintentional and she only came for drinks. I'm going to get trying to get her information right now, too. No, she said she was saying something about the man told her something. Whatever. I don't know what's going on, but they said that I heard her I heard her saying that man told her something. Nobody told me nothing. What are you guys trying to say I'm on an investigation for? I sure I ain't I ain't on an investigation for nothing. I All that be I got I got Since I be in the house, I don't even go outside cuz I don't want to be around people. You know, every blue moon you get by, but I basically stay in the house. I don't even go to the store. I So I ain't on no new investigation. Okay. Now what's going on? Uh-huh. I'm going to take these handcuffs off you, okay? Okay. All right. You watching what's going on? So we got a call for a theft. Okay? Obviously. I said about what? Shoplifting. Okay. Turn up. Okay. All right. So I took the handcuffs off because I wouldn't do no shoplifting. Okay. Good. Good. That's what I want to hear. All right. This is double one. They said to read her rights. Double one. Double one. Why is that taking her to go while you're gone? We just checking We're checking We're just checking you. >> your running you. >> But you're good. You're good. Do you have a driver's license? Yeah, I got a driver's license. Okay. What's that in her purse? I saw you buy that lemon lime soda. Yeah. Good. Is the sun You want You want to sit? I want to sit. No? No, I got a hernia, so Got you. Y'all want to sit in the car? Um Oh, okay. Or if you want to stand over there in the shade. Yeah. Let's go stand in the Yeah. I would not burn up. Better? Yes, God. I wish the seat wasn't so high. There you go. You just chill right here. It's so low. I sit my butt in it. All right. It's better for both of us. >> right? All right. So listen. Right now I'm just going to read you your Miranda rights so that way I can get you out of the store, okay? So I mean I'm under arrest? Right now you're just being detained. >> Oh, okay. I ain't take nothing out that store. All right. So before you say anything, let me read you your rights and we can talk, all right? Okay. All right. You have the right to remain silent. Do you understand? >> I understand. All right. Anything you say may be used against you in court. Do you understand? Yes. All right. So you said it's Latricia? Yes. All right. All right. So tell me what's going on, too. I came to get me some I came to get me some drinks. She explains she put clothing she wanted to return inside a bag and insists she didn't leave the store with it because security took it from her hand near the greeters by the exit. I did I had a bag. It's a bag in there, but I did not pay for it, I forgot what it was. So you came to the store to get you drinks. So you got some drinks. You said that there was a bag. What kind of bag? It was the bag I was going to return to the store. a green outfit that I was going to return to the store with my So you say you you have a bag. You have a bag. >> that I was going to return. >> Right. That's in there. And then I got me some drinks. Okay. Police clarify that she passed all points of sale, meaning it qualifies as theft. She admits she has no receipts for the clothes she claims she was returning. All right. As far as the bag, you picked up the bag and and you put in the outfit inside. I put the outfit inside of the bag. Right. Yeah. You said you didn't pay for the bag. No. Okay. Is there anything else that you didn't pay for? Everything else I paid for is in the car. Okay. And I didn't take the bag. Even the bag is still in there. I didn't even take that. I just put the items that I paid for in the car. Okay. So as far as the bag, when you were walking out, did you What happened? You just dropped it? Someone took it from you? The lady snatched it out of my hand. Who's the security officer? >> Yes. She snatched it out of my hand. And so I just walked out the store. That's it. So I didn't leave out with it. Okay. And inside the Got you. And inside the bag you said you had items that you wanted to return. Yes. Do you know how much the bag cost? No. No. So the bag was the only thing that you took. I didn't take it because I didn't leave out the store with it, but that's the only thing that I had. >> Where Where did she take it out of your hand? Where were you at? In the store. Where Where in the store? Like by the registers? Right Right Right before you come out the store. Right before you come out the first door. Where the Where the greeters at? The people You know, the person saying, "Hey, welcome to Walmart." or whatever. >> Yeah, right there. Okay. All right. You You were at at there or you already passed it a little bit? >> No, I was right there. Where they said, "Welcome to Walmart." >> So you understand right there where the greeters at. >> Uh-huh. You got to pass all the registers. And then that's that's Passing all points of sale. Where the greeters at, it's after the register, before you enter the store. So then that You She denies intent to steal, but officers note Walmart staff want to trespass her and press charges. So when you're talking to that person, you already passed all the registers. Is that where she grabbed your the bag? Right at the exit of the store, you Right. Right there. Right Right Right before Right where the guy was at. Where they said, "Welcome to Walmart." Okay. Yeah. All right. Cool. You but understand at that point you already passed all points of sale. >> Okay. Because you already passed the registers. Right? Right. And that was there just the bag you said. It was just the bag. Yeah. >> Just the bag. You didn't put anything else in the bag. No. No. Just the clothes that you were going to return. Yeah. All right. And you have receipts for all the clothes that you were going to return. I don't have any receipts. You don't have no receipts on you. Yeah. Can they just give me a trespass warrant? No, they can't They can't, but that's that's up to Up to them. Yeah. Just cuz I got the I'm I'm sorry. All right. So they're going to trespass her. Uh 10 12 already. Uh video shows her So when you came here, was it like Was the intent to take that stuff? >> No, it wasn't intent to take it. I promise it wasn't. Officers prepare to arrest her, explaining her friend will be able to access her car. She is searched before being placed in the police vehicle. She forgot to pay for it. No, I didn't forget to pay for it. I put the stuff that I was going to return in the bag. I was So, what kind of bag was it? Was it a Walmart bag? No, it's not a Walmart bag. It's a different bag? Yeah. But, it's Walmart stuff in that bag. Got you. I just got to try to understand the whole It's a bag that it It's a bag that bag It's a like a sand bag. Okay. From another store? >> From this store. I got the bag. I put my stuff in It's one of those bags you can buy. Yeah. Got you. Got you. One of like the thicker ones. The better quality ones. You get So, we got to do more surgeries? Yeah. Are you going to a different doctor this time or Yeah, different surgeon. I want to I wonder if that's like some type of malpractice. It is. I'm going to press charges on They got y'all business. Yeah. I don't know if that's That's how you can let you know. Put his gloves on me. He had gloves on you Yeah, well, not me. How long ago? I'm going to jail. All right. He said yeah, I am. Do you want your Do you want your friend It's not my choice. Do you want your friend to grab your stuff? Guys, you're going to go to jail for They can't do that. So, they're going to they're going to they're going to trespass you and they want to press charges on you. Police adjust her handcuffs to relieve discomfort and secure her safely with a seatbelt inside the patrol car. So, that's completely up to them? So. So, can my friend get my car or something? Oh, yeah, we'll get with her in a little bit. I'm going to go talk to my partners. As of right now Yeah, your friend's going to have access to your car and whatever you Will you let Felicia know I'm open? She'll have it. Felicia! Come here. I will walk you through it. I'll just walk over here. Right there. Except for Felicia, right? Other side. Passenger side. So, we're going to have her just face the car. All right, ma'am. I'm going to go ahead and do a search for you, okay? Just step back a little bit and separate your feet for me. All right. Is there anything I need to know that might still be poking you? Just make sure there's nothing in there. All right. She's good. You going in here? Yep. All right. Make sure there's nothing in there. Careful. Good. Here. What's wrong? Cuffs? Yes. All right, do me a favor. Look, I'm going to have you take your knees facing them that way. Face your cuffs towards me. You're good. You're good. I got I got you. Okay. That's good. All right, this one's all right. Which Which one Which one hurts? Which one hurts? This one? Okay. You got it? You can just throw it on her. [Applause] I got you. Which one is it? This one? Yeah. All right, just pull tight so I can loosen it up for you, all right? I got to tell you 459 in the Yeah, we're good. We're good This one? Keep your hand behind your back. I just freeze her. I'm going to tell you 459 Let me know if it hurts, okay? I'm not trying to get you to have you with pain in your throat. All right. All right. Is that good? Yeah. All right. I'm going to tell you 459 All right, this one's good. All right. Okay, just face you. I'm going to put your seatbelt on. Oh. Okay, go. You got it? Move it over to that side. Okay. I got you. Yeah, you're good. You're good with that. I'm not trying to try to make you hurt. I can't get them off my cuffs in the front. I'm not sure. And ask him if he wants to move this to the back. I'll ask him. The shield. Got it. Seatbelt's comfy? Shut down. Just leave the shield. Okay. The charge falls under retail theft since she passed all points of sale with unpaid merchandise, even if she claimed it was a mistake. Trying to excuse theft by calling it a mistake doesn't erase the fact that passing all points of sale is still shoplifting. Even small acts of dishonesty can lead to criminal charges, embarrassment, and a permanent record. What an unyielding shoplifter. The next shoplifter will react much more violently, so keep an eye out.
