You have ID on you or anything? >> Just my phone. >> Just your phone? >> Telling you, are you still going to miss them and he can't let you go? >> We've all encountered some unforgettable characters at Walmart, but some take things to a whole new level of chaos. She is placed under arrest and told it's now a felony charge. >> Sir, I'm not able to understand your traffic. >> So, you have been trespassed from Walmart before and 23 several other Walmarts apparently. Um, you going to be charged with a felony this time and you going to go to jail today. You are under arrest. All right. >> Tie. >> It's right here on the desk. >> And tell her to come to my purse. >> Uh, that's going to go with you to the jail. I'm >> I don't even know why they run in the first place, but you know, >> I don't. >> Another officer confirms she has a long history of theft charges dating back to 2009. This case will be filed as commercial burglary. >> I'll have to keep every one of them in my hand. >> I just want to say thank you for transporting for me. >> You are amazing. >> I heard that, you know, there's stuff in it. So, like I checked in, right? I mean, I figured y'all had it handled. I heard Brick say something about I said sir and he's hiding stuff in her clothes. >> Why did you start talking on the radio? >> You know you watching video you better quit. >> Sir I'm sorry. >> Appreciate it. So only one given a court date is Mau. >> I I think so. >> Okay. >> Hot Springs. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. And uh I think she was 53 out of us, too. >> Oh, is she? >> I think so. >> I have to check. >> It's going to be uh commercial burglary. >> Officers note her use of multiple EBT cards and speculate she might be preparing for a trip given how much she was stealing. >> Hey, you know, I didn't know you could buy. >> You can buy anything almost could get cash back like so much cash out of them. >> No, we don't need that. I didn't need the I didn't need the the EBT for the food. >> If if I cut my food expense and grocery expense in half, man. >> Oh, dude. Have I had this place here? >> Yes. >> Is it good? >> Food's good. It's a little pricey, but the food's good. Burger. >> All right. >> You ready to roll? All right. Take that. Just imagine me being bumped into the door after this right there. God damn. Give us give us a second. >> Officers wrap up and prepare to transport her after completing the report. The woman is charged with felony theft, shoplifting, and commercial burglary. Stealing may seem small, but repeat offenses only lead to harsher charges and lasting consequences. Respecting boundaries and living honestly always costs less than a life of crime. But this is still not the worst case. Just wait until you see this next one. >> I didn't steal nothing, man. >> Well, what what's your name? >> I didn't steal nothing. Well, >> you got to tell us your name. >> Police are called after a couple is spotted shoplifting at Academy Sports. Officers quickly track them down to a hotel room. >> Hello. >> Come to the door, please. Hey, how you doing? >> Are you in here by yourself? >> No, there's two other people. >> No, that looks like them. >> That is them. >> Yeah, there we go. >> The couple denies stealing and refuses to provide their names, making the situation more difficult for officers. >> Hey, you two, get up. Where's the stuff y'all just took from academy? >> From academy. >> You were just at academy. They took y'all to They said you >> definitely were just at academy. >> I know I didn't take that from academy right now. Okay, >> you're just a tedd, boss. >> I don't think he actually took anything. >> He was with him. We'll get out here. We investigate this. >> What's your name? >> What's your name? >> Tell us your name. >> Claire, we have two detained for now. I'll go over there and try to determine exactly what was taken. All right. >> You better tell us your name. >> Tell us your name. We're going to go try to figure out what you're taking. If y'all work with us, this this can be very easy situation. They gave me pictures. >> Sir, I didn't take nothing, sir. >> They said you did. If you >> sir, I didn't take nothing. >> That's certainly you. >> No, I went out the door. I didn't take nothing. >> They said you took some sweats and some shoes. >> Store staff report stolen Nike shoes and clothing. Officers warned suspects that refusing to identify themselves could lead to more charges. >> Take no sweat. If you didn't, you didn't. I got on my own seat. >> Okay. If you didn't, you didn't. We're going to I'm going to go over there and check. >> Well, you might realize not giving your name. >> And what's your name? >> She don't want to give. >> We're going to figure it out. You got a warrant or something. >> Well, what's your name? >> I just had the right to >> Yeah. Okay. You do? But then we're going to take you to court. We'll take you. We'll fingerprint you. That's fine. >> Yeah. >> I'll get a search for the apartment. I'll check >> for a charge may not give my name. >> Yeah. I will go get a search warrant for the whole apartment right now. How about that? >> I mean, we're going to figure out who you are. >> Okay. These are hurting me. I >> I'll check them out. >> I know. I like >> 28 central females refusing to identify herself. See if she's got Quinton Fleming's got history with female. >> Well, you walked in right behind them. >> That's crazy. >> I didn't say you, but you was with them. >> That's just my word. >> And if you're reasonable with us, we'll be reasonable with you, man. All right. >> Officers confirm at least one pair of Nike 270s were stolen. Evidence includes pictures and reports from store workers. >> We don't want to Hey. >> Huh? >> Well, I hear what you're saying, my man. If you took like a couple of things, we can work with you on that. You just got to be honest with us, man. >> Read him. Hey, we found them in a hotel room. So, what did they take exactly? >> Shoes, some Nike 270s is what she had her buddy. >> Nike 270s. >> At the very least from my picture, what I can tell what she had. >> All right. >> And he put one out. So, I don't know what he had on him cuz I couldn't see it in the picture. >> Okay. What are What does the box look like for Nike 270? It's that white box. >> This white box. >> Yeah, I saw one sitting right there in the uh >> picture in her buggy. >> And it looks like her bag's full, too. So, I don't know. >> Okay. >> They say who rented it? >> Randall Kenny. >> So, we got a phone number for him. >> No. >> Is he one of the people we're with? >> I'm not sure. I didn't check. >> Yeah. a phone number. >> Take him out of cuff. >> Yeah. >> Come on over this way for me. Thank you for being cool. You've been the coolest for him so far. >> Police question the room renter who admits the suspects were staying there but tries to distance himself from the theft. >> And we need to talk to you real quick in here, sir. This you rented this room, right? >> Say just do you mind if I step in and talk to you? >> So So here's the situation. I'm I'm going be honest with you. You walked in. I saw you when I was leaving. Those two just walked into academy. You was with them. They said you didn't. They didn't say you took nothing. You was just with them. >> Those shoes right there. She walked out with them in her bag. He beeped when he walked out. So, he had something on it with the security tag on it. >> What? >> Do I have your permission to look in here for what they took from academy? >> You don't have to give it to me. >> It's up to you. It's your room. I can ask you if you'll let me. Are they staying with you? >> Uhuh. Well, can I look for stuff from academy? >> All right. >> So, we're going to keep stacking charges and that is so because you're going from a misdemeanor shoplifting, which could be a ticket to now you're going to jail. >> Just be honest, man. You already know you have a warrant, >> but you're already either going to go to jail for false name and we'll still figure it out. So don't make it. >> Stolen shoes with tags removed are found, confirming the theft. Officers warned the suspects that lying about their identities will result in fingerprinting and more charges. Hemade. >> Yeah, I think that's new. I don't know. Why is the tags already off? I don't know if that No, that's I don't think that's I know those shoes that Sorry, that might be those shoes were definitely these were in the buggy. So, I know these are stolen. Do you know what he had? Because he beefed as he walked out. Is there anything else? That's all that you know about. You didn't see him take his clothes off or anything? >> You don't know his name? >> Where's her pink backpack? She got anything else in there? Oh, >> where'd she have this in? She have it all in her bag. >> Well, she Where could she have had this? Where' those shoes go? >> Central 228. >> Are you going to be honest with us, man? Or are you going to make us do this the hard way? >> We will fingerprint you and then we will find your name. >> All right. So, this is stuff that you think she might have put in there? >> Latrice Pitman of Circle Extremely. >> What's all that? Let's go. This is what she definitely walked out with. >> Male suspect continues to deny stealing but still refuses to provide his real name. Frustrating officers. >> Uh he beeped as he went out so he had something. >> Uh you sound like him identified. >> Nope. >> Nope. >> Well, just bring them both to the car. >> Sure. >> Get my bag. Silly, bro. >> I'm going to jail. >> Put your belly up against the 911 right here for me. I'm going to double. You have anything on you? >> No. >> Okay. I'm going to patch it down with the back of my hand. All right. >> Nothing in your ways, man. There was already your phone here. Is there anything else? >> Nope. >> So unnecessary, man. Very making it so much for yourself. We're going to find out who you are one way or the other, man. >> Does he have anything on under his stuff? >> You can't feel like the lost like a security tag. You know, like the anti- theft sensor. >> Yeah, I know what you're talking about. >> Still want to tell us your name? >> Steal nothing, man. >> Well, they said you beeped when you went out. >> I didn't steal nothing, man. Well, what what's your name? >> I didn't steal anything. >> Well, you got to tell us your name. You were >> I didn't steal nothing. >> Well, you're going to tell you're going to What's your name? >> I didn't steal nothing. >> You got a warn or something? Why won't you tell us your name? >> I didn't steal nothing. >> I'm tell they said you beeped when you went out. That's all I'm telling you. >> I don't care what what I beep for. >> Listen, we got >> Did they see me take anything? Did they see me grab anything? >> Listen, we have enough to detain you and identify you until we figure this out. So, when we take you to jail and fingerprint you, what's your name going to be? All right, here's the deal. Right now, I can't prove you took anything. So, I'm not going to charge you with shoplifting. But, you were still with her. You still have to tell us a name. You still gave us a false name. So, we're still going to figure out who you are. So, go ahead and tell us your name. >> Officers decide not to charge him with shoplifting due to lack of proof, but proceed with charges for providing a false name. The female suspect is confirmed to be going to jail for theft. >> Got a warrant or something. Is that why you didn't give us the right name? It just makes it harder when we don't know who you are. We're We can take you over there, fingerprints you, and we know you'll come back. That's not an issue, but it just makes it more difficult because I can't even put your name in the system for this barring if you won't tell me the right name. Just put him in the car. Maybe he'll change his mind by the time he gets to jail. >> Come on, man. This one right here. >> All right. What are we doing with Miss Holyfield? >> She's definitely going. >> You definitely going. That's what he said. >> Why? >> I thought we were just getting bored. I didn't take anything. Oh, >> there's there's all that stuff that he walked out with. I don't >> know. >> It must have magically appeared there. >> Man, >> hey, last chance, man, before we just take you to jail. What's your name? >> I mean, we're going to figure it out. I know you've been arrested before cuz I I I I recognize you. I just don't know your name. It just makes it easier on everybody if you tell us your name. >> You don't have >> The female suspect briefly pretends to be unconscious. Officers stimulate her to check responsiveness, then call EMS to evaluate. >> You don't have an ID card or anything? Do you know your social? >> I tell you what the real issue is is it's hot as out here and your buddy has us all sitting out here in the heat because you won't tell us your name. >> That's the reality of it. >> Yeah. >> Sit up. You're going to get sternum rubbed. It's not going to feel good. >> Yeah. When I said that, she popped. >> Sit up. Come on. Sit up. Yeah. I'm going to give you painful stimuli until you respond to me so I can be sure that you're not overdosing. >> Please get up. >> First she said she used OD and then she says she has the trauma to the head. >> Can you please sit up? >> Is he requesting EMS too? >> I haven't heard yet. >> Well, we'll have to stay with I mean we'll just take him to jail cuz you must be wanted for murder or something as far as we know. Just let him get checked out. Um obviously we don't I mean literally he could be wanted for murder for all we know >> but we'll just see what they want to do with him. All right, guys. The ambulance is here to check you guys out. >> Yep. >> Hi. >> What's going on? >> You got to talk to me and tell me what's going on. >> Okay. >> You mean you need anything? >> She's going to have to sit up. >> That's fine. >> If you want me to check your blood pressure, you're going to have to swing your feet out the door and you're going to have to sit up for me. >> Blood pressure is 130 over 70. >> 130 over 70. Pulse rate 90. >> And what does that mean? Pulse rate 90. >> That's normal. >> Normal. Okay. Okay. All right. >> Everything's good. >> Everything's good. Well, we appreciate that. >> EMS confirms vitals are normal. Final outcome. The couple is charged with shoplifting and giving false information to law enforcement. Lying and refusing to cooperate only makes a bad situation worse. Honesty and accountability can lessen consequences, but deception adds new charges. This shoplifter is already a mess. Do you agree with this opinion? Tell it in the comment section. >> So, can you do me a favor? Just stand up and face my partner right here, please. >> All right. Your chains behind your back. Florida officers respond to a gas station after reports that one of the managers was caught trying to steal money. Listen closely as the store supervisor walks officers through exactly what happened. >> This officer is there right here. >> Yeah. >> Who's he talking to right now? >> The employee. Employee. >> Yeah. Okay. Okay. So, what's what's happening? >> Um, the associate in there, uh, I did an interview of her today, I got an alert from our treasury department at corporate that we had a deposit that was short almost $5,000. >> Okay. >> On the the 10th of July, >> okay, >> um, I got that notification around uh, August 4th. And then as I started looking at it, uh other shortages started coming in after that date, but not that large. Uh and then the last shortage that was reported was on 87. So there's a total of 1 2 3 4 seven deposit variances totaling 9,555. >> Okay. Um with the first shortage that was it was substantial 4,775. >> Okay. What what made it pinpoint to one of the employees? >> Well, um when I pulled the video and watched the the managers do a daily cash process where they go out to the e safes where you see the associates. >> They can't hear us from here, right? >> Yeah, >> they can. >> What? >> They can't hear us from >> Yeah, maybe. >> According to the supervisor, the company noticed discrepancies in the store's deposits. An audit revealed that one of the assistant managers in charge of cash drops had been stealing money. So they come out in the morning and they get the canisters out of these things by each register. There's also a canister inside that lottery kiosk that has the cash customers purchase tickets. Um there was uh the amount of the shortage the 4775 was the exact amount of two of those to the dollar. And then when I watched the video of Ash today that uh she was doing the pick up in the morning, you can see her open this drop safe and there's a stack of cash like that. She has her backpack on top of the safe that she's supposed to put the money in and spin it and it drops down so no one can get it after that. She doesn't spin it. You can see motion by the backpack, but the video is not great. You can't see her actually. >> So, you can't really see her actually like >> Yeah. Does that does the video have clear concise evidence that she put that even though I know it's not only like her dropping or something but does it have clear concise that shows that >> she's uh um placed it into like it it would have been 100% that that was her she placed it >> cuz I'll let you know what's what might happen today like depending on depending on what she's >> Yeah. I get right now there could be a case that you might not get arrested but you'll file after a which will uh depending on like is this going to be sent to a detective uh detector would have to do their investigation look like unless she's submitting to some of the stuff that she does. >> Yeah, I think she is. >> When confronted with the evidence, the employee admitted her actions to the supervisor. This confession allowed the company to carefully document each day she had attempted to steal money. did take a picture of it. >> Yeah, I think so. Yeah, you guys can have this too if you want >> this. I didn't have video any longer to review. >> Okay. >> Um but I had her initial. She admitted that she took on these dates. >> Oh, she told you. >> Yeah. And then I initial by deposit I took cash from and that's >> Oh, that's she said that she stole or that she like >> Yeah, she that I took cash from. He gave me a full purple and written confession. Okay. >> All right. Uh would you be able to pull up your uh information real quick, please, for the uh jump drive so you can um I think I already have it on my desktop quicker. This Excel file is on that thumb drive. >> Okay. This has all the dates, what was reported, what the bank deposit should have been, what the bank counted, and the variances by day. >> But like I said, I didn't have video. I I just if I just want to see the video part at this point. So we have like >> it's not that I don't believe you. It's just cross tease dot eyes. You know what I mean? >> No, no, I get it. >> Um >> yeah, this is the day I just told you about where she put the money in. >> Okay. >> And you can still see it there. >> Yeah. >> And then she puts her bag back there. If you're putting [Music] just stand real quick so there >> when confronted with the evidence, the employee admitted her actions to the supervisor. This confession allowed the company to carefully document each day she had attempted to steal money. >> Okay. How long you've been employed here? Two and a half years. >> Two and a half years. Okay. And the other officer uh read you the Miranda rights, right? So you understood your rights. >> Okay. What was your uh previous job? Uh >> Disney. >> Disney. Okay. But this is like the first time overall has anything like this happened? Not at Disney or anything like that? No. Okay. [Applause] Was there any uh reason or anything like that? Okay. Did you explain to the other officer? I didn't talk to him about that. Okay. Would you say it was more of a desperate type of thing? Was it there's a lot of things going on in the household that he just fallen through? Was there like at least like you know late on is it like late on bills or >> One of the officers entered the security room to speak with the employee who sat quietly in tears as the weight of the situation finally sank in. >> Yeah. I applied for like assistance and like they gave I have a safe >> when they gave when I did that they gave me a >> a card with information. >> So it was just >> I want to go to a shelter. Do you have like any type of food stamps or anything or >> They just gave them to you. >> They just gave them to you. Okay. >> But they wouldn't give me any um cash assistance. >> Cash? Okay. >> Did you have like a set goal or anything like that? Um how much you wanted to take down or you were >> I I wasn't I wasn't keeping track. It's a mistake. It's a It's a bump. You know, we learn from mistakes, right? Hopefully, this would be like that big island that like you can't be doing stuff like that. You got to find some alternate ways like a better way to do it than, you know, and sometimes if you feel like you're in a in a road where you in a crossroads where you feel like you can't do anything else, you know, you can still call law enforcement or you can call like anybody just to talk to and then see if there's any type of things that can help you out. you know, there's there's a whole bunch of churches that, you know, you would have to talk with and let them know your situations. They can go and set up like a a GoFundMe or whatever it is. Like there's actually a place um it's called the Red Suit Suitcase Project or Red Suitcape Ministry. Um and they do exactly that, helping single mothers at a time of need. And what they do is they do whatever they can to assist you in what you what assistance that you need need help with. Okay. >> In an earlier conversation with another officer, the woman admitted that financial struggles as a single mother had driven her to steal. >> Like you can look it up and stuff like that later on. Okay. But just uh I would say what you could do is just think really hard and clear before you end up wanting to make um where you feel like it would be something that was taking you in the wrong path. Okay. I mean always I'll say it shows me that you have character that you're admitting to things like this. Okay. And it shows and it shows me the character that you are that you're admitting and you're you're you know taking action of your own you know mistakes. Okay. And that's something to, you know, like I said, I know it's a huge mistake that what you did, but you're you're owning up to it. Okay? There's other people in that situation that make make things way harder than it should be. And I get caught up into the, you know, wrong type of situation. You know what I mean? But you're actually taking ownership. And, you know, it's I respect you for that at least that you're you're doing that. Okay. It's hard. It's a hard thing to do, but know that you have other options besides doing this. Okay. You said you're in your early 20s. >> 28. >> 28. >> Sympathizing with her honesty and difficult circumstances. The officer offered her advice on where to seek financial assistance and other forms of support instead of resorting to theft. Uh, do >> you have any belongings in here besides your backpack? >> No. Okay. So, Unfortunately, we got right now we we are going to have to take you in. Okay. Like I said, it's not the end of the world. All right. So, we're going to fe officer to patch you down and search you. But in the meantime, is there anything on you we should know about? Any weapons? Did you say anything the jail? That's a another charge that you really don't need. Okay. So, you do me a favor. You can stand up and face my partner right here, please. All right. your chance on your back. Thank you. >> And like I said, what I'm going to do is um I'll write down um what what you need if you want to reach out for, you know, single mothers that need, you know, some type of assistance. So, cuz this right here, like I said, I respect you that you're being honest and open with us. And like I said, a lot of people in your situation, you give us a hard time. Okay. So, I'm going to try to give I'll write down the the ministry, the red suitcase ministry that can help out. You want to call it out for me? >> Yep. [Music] >> We got one 10:15. We can have a female officer down. >> All right. This is your hat. Or is it the company's hat? >> It's yours. Okay. This is your bag. All right. You mind grabbing that for me? And that's your cup. >> No. All right. Just take that one time, please. Uh, you have everything that's yours, correct? Okay, let's go. We're in the back, so I won't try to get you out there. But uh, actually, here, give him the hat. Cover her face. Cover her face. Now, you messed up, but no one needs to know your crap. You know what I mean? This is your business, not theirs. All right, ready? >> The woman was officially charged with felony grand theft and sentenced to 5 years of probation. In addition, she was ordered to pay $10,000 in restitution. Desperation doesn't justify theft. The consequences only add to the burden. Seeking help the right way is always better than risking years of probation and debt. After you see the next case, you may want to think twice. It's shocking. And for more articles, subscribe law zone if you like this. >> Hello, I'm officer of the city par. You have ID on you or anything? >> No, just my phone. >> Just your phone. On July 16th, 2025, officers responded to a JC Penney after a shoplifting complaint. They approached the suspect and asked for ID >> and arrested for >> I did. I did. >> Hello. I'm officer of City Police. You have ID on you or anything? Hold on. Just my phone. >> Just your phone. She was handcuffed, read her Miranda rights, and agreed to speak with officers. >> Other than just your cell phone? >> No. >> Okay. You want to stand up for me? We're just going to go out to my car and just talk about what's going on. Okay. >> Okay. >> Now, questioning. Yeah. If >> you want to hold it for me. >> Can't hurt. >> I'm going to double lock you so they don't tighten up on you. Okay. >> Not trying to catch your hair or anything. Okay. Okay. I'll get the door. You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can will be used against a court of law. You have the right to talk to a lawyer and have him present with you while you're being questioned. If you cannot afford to hire a lawyer, one will be appointed to represent before any question if you wish. >> She said she was trying to get school clothes but admitted she didn't intend to pay for them. >> You decide at any time to exercise these rights to answer any questions or make any statements. Do you understand each of these rights? I have explained to you. >> Have these rights in my mind. Do you wish to talk to us now? >> Yeah. >> Okay. >> So, tell me what what what were you doing over here? >> Uh just going trying to get school. >> She mentioned being with another female she met on Facebook but refused to share her name, claiming she only knew she was still in high school. >> Over here trying to get clothes for kids for school. >> Okay. Did you Was it your intention to not pay for any of the clothing items? 14 tonight. >> Who is the other girl that you're with? [Music] >> Who is she to you then? I'll ask that. How do you know her? >> An associate from Facebook? >> Okay. >> Do you know her name? You just don't want to tell me? >> No, that's where >> I mean, do you know what her real name is? You just don't want to tell me? >> Um, no. She just associated Facebook. Okay. How old is she? Think >> she >> like she's still in like high school? Yeah. >> Okay. Does she live there in the Lex with you or where does she live? >> I don't know where she live. >> You have no idea. >> Was she picked you up or >> So when you guys came here, you guys, it was 100% intention to just take clothes and walk out with them, not pay for them. The suspect admitted she planned to sell the stolen clothes on Facebook for money, not use them for her kids. >> Okay. >> Okay. Have you ever been in trouble for retail theft before? Have you ever stolen before? Why would you do it now? >> Huh? >> Trying to earn some money. >> What were you going to do with the clothes? >> Sell them. >> You're going to sell them? >> Okay. What were How are you going to sell them? Just out of curiosity, like on like Facebook Marketplace or how how are we gonna do it? Facebook. >> So, you didn't come here to get clothes for your kids. You just came here to get clothes to sell so you can make some money. >> Okay. >> Okay. I assume you're probably not working or anything. No job or nothing. Or are you working? >> Yeah. >> Where you work at? >> The district. >> Oh, where at? I'm sorry. the district. >> Okay. Do you think they're gonna be happy? >> She acknowledged having a job, but understood this arrest could affect future employment opportunities. >> Happy hearing about this. Okay. All righty. Well, I appreciate you being honest with me. It goes a long way. I got to wait for them to tell me how much the total is. Um, sounds like it's going to be a felony amount, which is over $300, unfortunately. So, unfortunately, it sounds like you just caught your first felony. Okay. and the officer informed her the theft amount exceeded $300, making it a likely felony. Her honesty might help with prosecution outcomes and >> that's going to really dampen any chance of getting a good job. Okay? So, just take this as a learning experience and your honesty and whatnot going forward on with the stage attorney and all that stuff and prosecution, it's going to go a long way in your favor. I I promise you. Okay. So, um like I said, you're being charged with retail theft. I don't know if it's going to be a felony or misdemeanor. I got to wait for them to tell me how much it is. Um, sounds like it's most likely going to be, but like I said, I got to check with them. Okay. And you've never been arrested at all, like for anything in Is this your first time at all being arrested? Okay. All right, Calia. So it is it's like over $600 worth of items the clothing items that you took specifically you. So it is a felony. Okay. So you're going to be going out to the Pur County Jail for tonight. Okay. >> That so the the I can tell you the total right now of yours. >> Yours uh before tax is $646. The clothes here are cheap. >> Total stolen merchandise value was $646 before tax confirming felony retail theft. She was charged with felony retail theft, trespass from J C Penney property, and transported to the county jail. Stealing may seem like a quick way to make money, but it can lead to lifelong consequences, including a felony record. One bad decision can close the door to future opportunities you can't get back. All right, let's move to this next case where things might get even messier. I'm >> just basically telling you, do you still miss him and he can't let you go? >> Right. >> On April 24th, 2023, police pulled over a vehicle matching the description from a Walmart shoplifting report. The suspects allegedly skipped checkout entirely. >> Back seats in the front seat. >> Hey, they got the car stopped. It's on 95 right now. So, I just want to confirm everything we have real quick. >> Yeah. So, we can get >> straight up to action. Assuming you press charges, right? >> Yeah. Nothing was bagged at all. Distracted the uh >> So, they're both involved in the theft. >> Yeah. She distracted my door host and he walked out with buggy fool [ __ ] >> Okay. >> Hello. How are you? I'm officer from Police Department. Um, stop you because we got a call that a vehicle matching your script. The driver insists they didn't do anything, but both he and the female passenger are told to step out and get patted down. >> Description uh had just left the Walmart just a few minutes ago with uh a lot of unpaid for items. Is that a possibility? >> I don't know nothing about it. >> You don't? Okay. >> Yeah. I didn't get anything. >> Do you do you have your uh license registration on you? >> I memorized my license. >> Do you? Okay. You have a medical marijuana card also? >> Uh I smoke hemp. >> You smoke hemp? >> Okay. You >> roll your back window down. >> Thank you. Just so we can see everybody in the car. Now take your out the ignition for me. >> I'm not going to go anything. >> This is the one that you pulled out. There's not enough fob to it. >> No. >> Want want to stop in the car for a >> No weapons or anything, right? >> No. >> Okay. No weapons or anything, sir. You're good. You just want to stand over here. >> I just heard him tell right there. Okay. stand right here. Make sure he keeps like leaning out. It's probably going to be her and him. They said they'll fold her female with the bandana. >> Oh, she was involved. >> Wasn't involved. Perfect. Okay, I'm go ahead and go ahead and toss him in. >> I'm going to verify him on David. She just gave me a name. So, says he doesn't have an ID on him. >> All right. So, >> you're going to be asked to view a subject or two subjects in this case. Mhm. >> that are currently with another officer. The subject you are being asked to view may or may not be the suspect. >> Go ahead and hop out for me. >> Face the car for me for a second. You don't have anything on you that's going to poke me, probably stick me, stab me. I'm going pat you down just for weapons. Okay. You come stand over here by the trunk. >> Yeah. One more. We're going to pull around. >> I got You want to grab >> How's it going, ma'am? >> Bye. >> All right. >> Do me a favor. I'm going to have you hop out, too. Okay. Okay. >> You don't have any weapons on you. None's going to poke me. Cry me, stick me and stab me. >> No. >> Walmart loss prevention says the hall was household staples, mainly laundry detergent taken straight from shelves to the parking lot. >> Okay, you can just leave all your stuff in the car for now. >> Understand it and take. >> All right, man. >> I'll have lost pre prevention with me and route to the traffic stop. You >> have any idea what should be missing? >> Lodge detergent closed here. clothing, laundry detergent, like general household items. Looks like >> they have back side against >> I'm sorry. >> That laundry detergent's on the floor right where his feet was. There's a thing of laundry detergent. >> 45 to 55. All right, >> we're going to be coming up the on ramp in just a second if you want to have them stand up. >> Mike, just want to >> just make sure you got a clear view. >> Stay right. >> Said they're coming to come by. Just so make sure they have a clear view. >> Yeah, >> so where were you at? at the turn around front of target. >> Place under arrest for lifting right now. Okay, >> sir. Same with you. Being placed under arrest. >> All right, turn away. >> Place away from me. >> The people at Walmart said you didn't have any part in that. So there you go. Whenever um >> give us one minute as far as the stuff in the car. Okay. >> You have anything on you? Who poke me or state me? Have I been tucked up in places that shouldn't be tucked up? Nothing like that. >> For that crash. Appreciate it. Thanks. >> Since they say she's got nothing, she's working on getting a ride out of here. So >> who is she to that? Do we know? >> I I have no clue. >> Okay. I only made contact with when I walked up on the side >> or have an attorney present. All question will be stopped on your request with these rights in mind. You want to answer some questions that is that it yet? No. No questions. Fair enough. >> Um, all right. We're going to hang out. We don't have any females working right now. >> Hang on one second. Is this all her stuff here? >> Aspirin, purse, food. Okay, cool. Yeah, I always will. I always will. >> Is that your bag or is that her bag? Whose bag is that? >> That's mine. >> The green bag. Okay. So, the green bag's going to stay in the car then. >> All right. So, you got all your stuff, right? Okay. >> And um I real quick, I'll pull case. I'm going to get you a victim's rights pamplet. And uh >> you want to get all the other stuff out here? You got video going. >> Cool, man. >> Hey, what's up? >> Yeah, you're on speaker phone. My body cam's rolling. >> All right. So, I hate to do this cuz I know you probably just got back there, but we're thinking we should probably have LP come over here and recover their property so we can get an exact amount. >> They're not sure cuz it happened so fast. >> The LP story. The woman distracted an employee while the man rolled a cart full of goods outside. >> Like basically that that female went over to one of the clerks or the the person that checks receipts basically distracted them with something while the the male >> jetted right past him >> and then as soon as he passed he was like, "Okay, bye." And just like kind of ran off with him. >> If you got a loss prevention officer there or said, "Yes, I watched them push the card out. It had this stuff in it. They can come here and identify these as the items that were in the cart that was pushed out and they recover them right from here from the card they witnessed. I'm fine with that. And then they can give us totals from that. >> Okay. >> And if there's something here that they say they purchased, well then that'll be incumbent upon them to prove in court and they can get that item back in court. >> Yeah. They I mean they apparently they didn't even try to like go to the selfch checkout. They literally just punched the whole card out the front of the store. >> That's going to be on them. So they can This is not like one of those scenarios where it's like, "Okay, they paid for this, they didn't pay for that." So, we'll take it all back and if there's something they paid for, then they can they can deal with that in court. >> All right. Well, let me grab him in a second. He's he's getting some stuff. >> All right, man. There's a bunch of stuff here, so just have him bring like a stack of bags and stuff. >> He said quite a [ __ ] CH, didn't he? >> They didn't send it to me. So, >> Oh, I told both of us. >> Oh, he's got numerous coke charges, numerous tampering charges. >> Yeah, I know. He's on >> introduction as of last year. Contraban felony charges. state for >> yeah uh homicides like homicide charges from last year uh that got reduced to a act assault. >> Criminal histories run deep. The male's past includes a homicide reduced to aggravated battery, cocaine charges, thefts and failures to appear. The female also has prior arrests. >> Battery LEO on both of them. He's got like four or fiveations. >> Okay. >> He's got he's got like five he's got like five FTAs. >> So he's gone. She >> she's FDA 21. So, she's going too. So, >> if it's a misdemeanor crime, you're you're eligible for your you could be eligible to be released on scene. If it's if it's a misdemeanor crime, >> given the fact that you have minimal prior CH, >> um I think you >> prior CH >> criminal history criminal history. >> So, I I check your obviously I don't need to tell you about your met your criminal history. It's pretty extensive. >> It's old. >> It's pretty extensive, but but you do have at least five failures to appear and you have multiple theft charges. must be what? >> Feel like he missed several court dates in the past dating back from 87 to as recent as like it's like 13. >> He just basically telling you do you still miss them and he can't let you go >> right at this point. Are you still involved homicide charge from last year over >> that's done with? Okay. All right. So got it got reduced to a >> homicide. >> Well, that was the initial charge. I think got reduced to a bat. >> I'm getting situs. >> No, it got it got it was aggra weapon. I I I don't over good. Um I did see I mean I'm going to be frank. You have >> you have numerous >> you have numerous cocaine charges. Do you have anything on you? >> Okay. >> Get it out. Get it out. >> You don't have anything on you, Mr. Mr. Gonzo. >> Nothing touched up in places. I saw I saw introduction contra band as recent as last year. >> Yeah, that have anything on you? >> All right. Somebody please can you give me some water? >> Bob, do you have water? >> No. >> Don't help me. >> You want rescue to come check you out? >> Go ahead. Go ahead and bring him over. >> Good one. >> Ma'am, do you want to be seen by rescue? >> You don't want to be seen by >> After being read their rights, the male is searched carefully. He's got a record for sneaking contraband into jail and refuses medical care. >> I don't know why, >> right? Do you want to be seen by rescue? >> Do that for me. >> Okay, I just need a yes or no. Do you want to be seen by rescue? >> Okay, cancel them. We don't need to be calling her. She don't She's just going to refuse when they get here. >> You can cancel [ __ ] Refusing now. Hey, get out on that side. I don't the traffic. >> Please hang out here for a second. Miranda, they're both in. >> Pretty sure he's wearing shoes. >> That's what we do. We wear tags on him with a >> That's what you do. >> Nobody does that. >> Look, tags on the hat. >> No, the plastic. That's ugly. Nobody wears that. >> The tag thing. >> That's ugly. >> He's ugly. >> Officers suspect he also walked out in stolen shoes. They'll check the footage to confirm. >> That's ugly, dude. Nobody wears that. This way. You want to? >> Um, yeah. We'll do it at the car. >> You're going to go back with another officer. Hey, wait. You guys sell these shoes? >> Yeah. >> You do? Interesting. Well, we I'll go see if Kevin can pull up video and see if we can actually see him taking those shoes off the shelf. Okay. >> And then putting them on. And then I'll charge you with those shoes, too. >> Hey. Hey. >> Whatever you say is yours. We'll take that out. And then if there's something in there that that they want to fight in court and say, "No, we paid for that at a earlier time or a different time or something," then they can argue that in court. >> Okay. >> Pretty sure this uh >> and then you'll be able to get a training receipt where >> it's still cold. >> Both things of laundry detergent. >> Yeah. Pretty much this whole >> that whole mound. Yeah. They were just throwing stuff at hand. >> Okay. >> Yeah. You just start putting it in here first. The guy was going to go to the PDM. We got to pull this out. There should be something in this car. There should be some more in this car. The trunk reveals a mini black market starter kit. Stacks of stolen detergent, other goods, and a bag of cash. A setup that screams resale operation. >> Working up a sweat. >> That might be it. >> All of them. >> What do you got? >> A lot of money. >> Oh goodness. >> A lot of money. What's that? >> A half the amount of cash. >> Yep. Take a bit of cash. Sell it. Huh? >> Not that much cash. >> The cotton nail bag is just full of money from German air. Oh goodness. >> What is that? >> Right. You want to stop wiggling around >> here? Just grab a bag. Let's bag this up. Document where you found it. >> All right. >> We'll test it all and we lay it all the PD. >> All in the same bags. Get them. >> Yeah, that's fine. >> For now. exciting day. >> I'm sweaty. It's too hot out here. >> I think they got one of everything. All four. >> Yeah. >> And that's clearly her bag. She said it's her bag. She identified that. >> So, it wasn't like they just went in and shoplifted like, "Oh, we're going to go shoplift the stuff we need for my house cuz they shoplifted like five different types of laundry to turn." She's >> stealing. She's selling it, right? >> Probably stealing it, reselling it. >> I was I was for sure they were going to flee. >> Dude, they both had I thought they both have fleeing. >> She has two and he has like three. Yeah. When Joshua was on the little island right here and like I come flying up and he's cutting across. >> Yeah. >> And I'm like, "Oh, they're just going to take off." And he's just like And they stop. I'm like, >> like, "What? What happened?" >> Everybody stops for the motors. >> Look, you get biohazard bags. >> I was shot them how nonchalant they were. >> They are They are seasoned >> criminals. Got a few seasoned. >> Yeah, that was on his lap >> behind. >> Yeah, he was like >> surprised he didn't just start like >> when I walked up I looked at >> Officers note the technique is too polished for amateurs. Both suspects go quietly into custody. She was charged with grand theft operating a vehicle while DL suspended unlawful possession of multiple IDs. Trafficking in fentinel, possession of paraphernalia. He was charged with grand theft. Even experienced criminals eventually get caught. Stealing may seem easy, but the law always catches up. It not the kaziest incident. You can see the next case even more. >> Don't do anything stupid and you're going to go about your business. >> Okay. >> My dad just needed some. >> We'll figure this. But like I said, on January 26th, 2021, Honesty and her male partner in crime were called stealing from a dollar store. >> We got a call here. Okay. We got a call here from management and um you know they said that they have you guys been uh trying to uh take the the tags off the the clothes. >> Okay. >> See what it is. >> Okay. You have something in your sock there, sir. Turn around the other way. >> My lottery tickets. >> Oh, your lottery tickets. Okay. >> What else is down there? Don't do anything stupid. >> Okay. >> The man pulled something from his sock and tried to hide it, but the officers immediately caught on. One grabbed his arm while the other pried his hand open, revealing exactly what you're probably already imagining. >> Come on, buddy. Come on. Come on. Let me see it. Let me see it. Open up your hand. >> Okay, you got it, sir. Sir, >> you're going to get chased, buddy. >> Sir, my money, sir. It's my money. >> Back off. >> It's my money, sir. >> You're going to have a big problem if you do something stupid. You understand me? It's >> my money. Damn. A13 central one detain. >> Detain her real quick. >> Move back. My name's Chris Baker. Officer Baker. Okay. You have something in your sock that you shouldn't have. We tell you not to do anything dumb. All right. The business wants you trespassed. Okay. And then you start trying to hide it in your hands and everything else. All recorded. >> Okay. That's fine. My money. >> Yes. We can work through that. >> Don't be dumb is what I'm trying to say. Hey, sorry. I'm sorry. >> Honesty and her partner were detained and separated. He was taken outside the store and thoroughly patted down while Honesty was led over near the Twinkies aisle. Another officer soon revealed what he'd found in her pockets. Baby underwear and concealer underwear. Their kids underwear. >> This I don't know what it is. This is from here also, right? >> Yeah. >> Yeah. Okay. You're going to get a citation as long as you don't do anything stupid. And you're going to go about your business. >> Okay. My dad just needed some mandolin and I need >> We'll figure through this. But like I said, >> more in my bra. >> You have more clothing in your bra? >> Yeah, it's underway. >> You have any drugs? Any other drugs on you that I need to know about? >> No, I'll shake it all out. >> I'll check out my dog. >> We'll get it out over here. Okay, go ahead and leave it with >> Yeah, take that. >> No, we're not. Not right now. But yes, we're going to walk to the front door. >> She took these. She says they belong here now. Okay. I don't know this. She said it belongs here. Okay. >> We don't do those. >> Yeah. No, no, no. >> But that's what she had in her possession. >> All right. Um, what do you call? So, can you give me pricing on that, please? Uh, descriptions, pricing on what she has. She's got some more stuff on her in her uh We're going to walk to the front door. >> I appreciate your honesty. Do you have any wants or warrants I need to be aware of? The officer proceeded to read her rights, informing her that she had the right to remain silent, but that silence didn't last long. He then told her she was obstructing an investigation for refusing to give him her boyfriend's name. >> So, you have the right to remain silent, officer. >> Many times, you can exercise these rights and not answer any of my questions. You understand these rights as I've explained? Yeah. Okay. >> Where did you guys how did you guys get here? Um, >> my friend dropped us off. >> Was they going to pick you back up when you called them or text them? >> Yeah. >> Okay. It's not necessary. >> If you guys would have just talked to us and done what we asked, you guys would have received a criminal trespass warning and gone about your business. None of this would have happened. But his actions dictated this. >> Okay. What's your first name, young lady? >> Honesty. >> What is it? >> Honesty. >> H O N E S T Y. >> Yes. >> Last name A L V A O L. >> Okay. What's his name? Um, your boyfriend. >> You want to let him do all that? >> He's going to do it, too. But what's his name? I'm asking you because you're with him. >> Your boyfriend. >> Yeah. >> What's his name? >> I just don't want to don't want to deal with that. I'm sorry. >> Okay. Well, you're obstructing an investigation at this point. This one, you can go to jail cuz I'm asking you information relative to why I'm present. >> Mhm. >> Okay. Of him identifying himself. You helping me to show cuz I have it on camera. You guys are together. You calling him baby. I want to verify your guys' story. Okay. What is his first name? >> Conley Elementary. >> I can get in trouble for not saying >> Yeah, that's what I'm trying to tell you. I just need his name. I'm not asking for his date of birth. >> Okay. >> Can I get in trouble for not wanting to say anything about another person or >> do we really want to go down? >> By the end of the exchange, honesty finally cracked and gave the officer her boyfriend's name. Now, we'd like to hear your thoughts. Were the officers out of line or did they handle it correctly? >> Albert Sandival. Albert. >> Albert, not Angel. >> 94. >> Okay. >> I don't understand. >> Have a seat. >> Let me tell you something else with another person. >> Please have a seat. >> Thank you. >> No, but can you explain that? >> I will hear. >> The officer didn't answer her question and instead called for a female officer to search her. Honesty was then escorted to a patrol car and placed inside where she was warned once again not to touch anything or it would be considered tampering with evidence. >> There's a there's a the tampering misdemeanor. >> You want to copy? >> She has warrants. Go ahead. >> She has a non extraditable 40 out of El Paso for looks like bail secured bond with the original charge of code 16. It's not extraditable. and she surrendered on a night. >> Whether honesty knew about the warrants or not, she still had them. And even if her boyfriend had done everything the officers asked, she would still have been booked and taken to jail. To make matters worse, the officer noted that she had tried to tamper with evidence, which certainly didn't help her case. >> 72 removing at this time. Guy has warrants, girl has warrants. So requesting metric. >> Do you have a bra? Yeah. Right. Is 412. [Music] Oh, that's just a knot on your shirt. >> See for me? No. Face that way. >> Anything inside the shoes? >> Are those socks from here? No, these are mine. No, these are >> Go ahead and put your slippers. >> The officer collected all the stolen items from Honesty and brought them to the store manager. The manager explained that the pair had entered the store at around 5:20 and stayed for about 10 minutes. >> Lunch. I need lunch. So do I. >> We get him outside. He has like four warrants. The girl has a warrant. We verify what was in that bag. The bag has meth, what looks like heroin, and six blues. Uh the girl had a bunch of uh property still stuffed in her clothes. So I got her for shoplifting, obstructing, tampering because we had to tell her multiple times to get away. And you could see her on camera trying to kick the >> Was he injured at all or anything? >> Not at all. So I got the trying to conceal it and tamper with it while we were >> The officers charged Honesty with shoplifting and obstruction on top of her existing warrant. It was not her day. They could have also added a tampering charge since she'd tried to hide the bag by kicking it under a pile of clothes. Even small crimes can snowball into much bigger problems when you already have warrants. Trying to hide the truth only makes a bad day worse.
