FBI agents hold more Authority than the average cop but what happens when FBI agents slip up and cops try to arrest them here are four agents who were arrested by the police starting with ATF agent Burke who actually ended up filing a lawsuit against the police for the way they treated him agent Burke received a call to investigate a residence where the occupants had illegally acquired a firearm instead of cooperating the residents promptly shut the door in his face and alerted the local police who were provided with agent Burke's badge number but treated the situation as a potential Bri considering him a suspect hey turn around let me see your hands turn around let me see your hands fedal [ __ ] agent okay let me see your hands I need to see some ID get on the ground get on the ground now get on the ground [ __ ] is your deal get on the ground now I'm a federal agent 9171 103 I'm a federal agent get on the ground agent Burke opted not to immediately comply with orders to get on the ground possibly to allow the police to verify if he was armed or not and continued his investigation cautiously he held the belief that as a federal agent he might not be bound by the commands of Municipal Police however he recognized the potential for abuse if such exemptions were allowed where any criminal could falsely claim Federal affiliation to evade police directives though he may not have appeared threatening it would have been wiser for him to politely adhere to the orders to facilitate a smoother resolution nevertheless the situation escalated further what next matter with you who Do You Think You Are get on the ground I'm not getting on the than I'm not 917 I'm pulling up I got my ID do not reach for your waste keep your hands up do not resist I'm not resisting you're official Duty and requested them to retrieve his identification from his back pocket it was only after examining his ID that the officers decided to place him under arrest and transport him to their patrol vehicle why would you make us do this I didn't want you I want to wait no you knew what sir calm down relax sir hey guys please just talk to me for one second please get in the car we'll talk later sir wait I need air sir please call an ambulance I'm asking for an ambulance you got a medic coming get in the car sir I don't need the medic the taser in bother you just said call an ambulance got a medic coming an actual police officer he got to be ashamed of himself sir I'm not I'm trying to you're not you're right you're not see my qu yeah no you screwed up you bet Burke remained in police custody inside the patrol vehicle for over an hour before eventually being released without any charges while his own behavior may have not been Flawless Burke chose to pursue legal action against the Columbus Police Department alleging excessive force and an unlawful arrest according to the initial complaint the incident resulted in both physical and psychological harm necessitating his removal from active duty and reassignment to administrative and support rules which required adjustments within the department as of the time of this video's upload the case is still unresolved reality it appears that both parties involved in this case bore some responsibility for the unfortunate outcome unlike these cops who have made a laughing stock of themselves at the precinct a man walking down the street found himself confronted by a group of police officers who asserted that he bore a resemblance to a criminal they were actively searching for unbeknownst to the police this individual was in fact an undercover FBI agent on the brink of undertaking an extraordinary Mission get out of my face man you guys harassing me yes you guys are you're [ __ ] harassing me har yes you are no no no he's harassing me why you harassing me you're assuming I'm someone I'm not okay if you're not then no no no no not free to go okay us the officers justify their detainment of the man by stating that he resembled someone with an active arrest warrant it's crucial to remember that the law mandates police to possess Reasonable Suspicion of a crime before making an arrest and in this case they appear to exceed their lawful Authority I'm not for what I don't have a war you're you're very wrong okay if I'm wrong I'm wrong no you are wrong what do you mean if you're wrong you're wrong you're wrong we're not going to play this game hold on no no no hold as the encounter unfolded the officers provided a notably vague rationale for detaining the man and openly admitted that if they were wrong they were wrong a disconcerning statement that came across as both unprofessional and potentially perilous such a line of thinking if embraced by an officer in this context could raise concerns about its applications in more high-stake situations potentially putting the public at risk hey hey hey hey off matter of fact look at my ID he got the wrong guy I'm telling you ID you guys do got the wrong guys you guys stupid that's not you you guys are Ral profile thinking I'm somebody I'll take both of you [ __ ] take them take them cuffs off sir I got them take them cuffs off I'll take both of you [ __ ] right now this guy got the record y I'll take both of you [ __ ] right now take take the Cs off guys are [ __ ] stupid man you guys are the dumbest [ __ ] you are stupid I don't know how you wrong dude matter of fact anybody can become a cop nowaday yeah so you guys really had no other choice to do you guys really had nothing else to go to college for but be a cop and harass me to assume I'm somebody I'm not my ID is in my back pocket watch hey watch funny how watch how funny this is go ahead no don't hate me look at it oh what does that say [ __ ] up what does that say oh wrong guy wrong guy suddenly the man produced an official FBI identification card conclusively demonstrating that he was not the individual the officers were seeking this Revelation placed the officers in a precarious position it's worth noting how one of the officers after seeing the ID shifted from maintaining consistent eye contact with the suspect to avoiding eye contact entirely oh my God no get the [ __ ] off me dude get off me dude [ __ ] of I need your cars I need your supervisor over here call your supervisor call your supervisor call your supervisor over here you guys are the stupidest [ __ ] I ever met in my life how' you guys you what the [ __ ] is wrong with you guys guy here what do you mean I look like the entire episode was marred by unprofessionalism and a lack of proper handling on the part of the officers however at least once they discovered the agent's true identity they demonstrated respect towards him now let's take a look at another case where the cops demonstrated precisely what not to do when dealing with an undercover FBI agent that's awesome okay that'll work you run your body cam I I am now because I don't know how legit you are at the moment it's okay special agent had the FBI okay you got that on body Camp I do but I don't understand what the problem is would you meet me at the office I'll talk to the US attorney's office about it you can cut off the reporting device now okay I will when I leave the area sir in this instance the agent had been actively investigating instances of police corruption within the Franklin County Police Department little did he know just how deeply corrupted this particular officer would turn out to be the agent had arranged a meeting with the officer at a random location deliberately avoiding their official offices it became evident that every move and Word uttered by the agent from this point onward was a deliberate test to assess the officer's adherence to proper conduct and whether his fellow officers were involved in any misconduct this is why he requested the officer to turn off his body camera fortunately for the officer he aced this initial test however it didn't take long for the situation to take a different turn am I being detained am I being detained you're the one who called me here sir how did you get my phone number I can't give you that information you are detained at this time sir in the way hey I don't think this guy's legit man I need to take my weapon off okay do I have permission to take it off you don't have it understandably things started to seem fishy to the officer prompting him to detain the agent and wait for backup check your validity you you are you called a deputy sheriff's personal cell phone you can't tell me how you got the number that's right your Tag's not coming back to the FBI correct okay I haven't seen a badge I've seen an ID card I haven't seen a badge you have not seen no sir I haven't seen a badge I've seen an ID card I handed this to you did you grab it take it out of my hand do you not see a badge I see a badge now that's the first time I saw all the badge sir you don't need to be a once backup arrived the officer provided a full account of the situation emphasizing that the suspect was armed uncooperative and above all highly suspicious receiving a call from an FBI agent on your personal phone number would undoubtedly raise red flags for any cop but it's vital for them to maintain professionalism and adhere to protocol the officers proceeded to handcuff the agent and placed him in the back of their patrol car where he began complaining about the excessive heat inside the vehicle and his urgent need for fresh air however a call from headquarters should have put the matter to rest I'm on the phone with his supervisor out of tallah just [Applause] said all right that's what I'm doing right now they just called back sherff what's he doing here he is legit 104 despite this the officers persisted in keeping the agent inside the patrol vehicle even after being explicitly informed of his true identity as an FBI agent rather than releasing him as instru rued the officers continued discussing the situation while the agent pleaded for his release it wasn't until an unnecessary 3 minutes of conversation had passed that the agent was finally allowed out of the vehicle unfortunately it appeared that he wasn't feeling well call I need a medical attention right now unlock me call call 911 call 911 we're we're releasing you right now sir Call 911 Now call 911 I need 10 minutes later medical personnel arrived and the agent was transported in an ambulance fortunately despite the officer actions that could only be described as disrespectful and neglectful the agent did not sustain any significant injuries at least these cops improved the cop's image knowing precisely what to do in this kind of situation in the early morning hours of December 6th 2016 gunshots pierced The Silence of a Grand Rapids parking lot startled by the gunfire a team of armed police units quickly converged on the scene to neutralize the perceived threat however what they uncovered was far from their expectations give me I I'm so sorry sir I am so sorry sir security empty he's got a badge I would not H you Federal Bureau of he's FBI agent the individual who had allegedly been firing shots at a police officer turned out to be none other than an FBI agent named Ruben Hernandez who had been operating in Michigan on undisclosed official business naturally this astonishing Revelation raised numerous questions prompting the officers to contact his partner John Salazar who arrived at the scene around 5:00 a.m. man what is he okay like what happened to his face there he looks scuffed up but you know like I say he's uh that wasn't done here by us that was before he made contact with so we'll make sure he gets checked and everything like that do uh who did we wanna do we want to get in we'll find out he wanted to see a picture before he talked to us are you lieuten I am not you tell me who that is what the oh my gosh okay that is Reuben Hernandez John was met with a shocking confirmation that the apprehended man was indeed his partner Reuben a revelation he certainly hadn't anticipated at such an early [Applause] hour regrettably for the law enforcement officers involved their attempts to conceal the truth from a camera did not prevent it from capturing audio at one point a policeman remarked on detecting the scent of alcohol on John and observed his efforts to mask it with multiple sticks of gum presumably to disguise any hint of of alcohol on his breath subsequently suspicion continued to mount until the decision was made to interrogate him so did you get a call from him tonight what's that did you get a call from him tonight um someone called us we weren't we're still trying to figure out who called us to war let say he was in trouble or something that wasn't you um listen I I'm not going to answer anything right now how come you're not going to answer anything well I mean I got to wait for you know I'm talking to my superiors and everything else to see oh she told her Lieutenant you're coming down here to kind of shed some light on what happened right no no I'm here and then there's also going to be a a special agent from the ra here in Grand he I don't know if you know uh sa Burns or not but he's GNA come down here and so go from there got got okay just let them do what they got to do all right hold it there go okay you got your cruds right yeah I you can hold on to that need you to seal your lips and blow tell and tell the beeps all right you ready yep seal your lips and blow keep going your BAC right now is16 is that above oh yeah at 5:22 in the morning we'll probably be uh holding on to your firearm the legal blood alcohol limit for driving in Michigan stands at 08 and Jon's blood alcohol level was slightly above that threshold likely higher when he was actively driving earlier that night when examining the broader context it becomes evident that this was an unfortunate turn of events for John on that evening he had been socializing with a friend at a club during their off-duty hours it was only after returning to his hotel that he received a call from the local police department urging him to verify the identity of the person they had arrested who happened to be his partner clearly Jon should not have driven to the scene but one can empathize with the stress of the situation and the mistake it led to nevertheless aside from the attempt to cover up the body camera the police handled the situation appropriately
