Cops usually arrest people they've never met before, but what happens when they have to arrest their close friends? Sorry, [ __ ] God damn. Michael, please. I'm very uncomfortable right now. Here are four instances when cops had to arrest their friends. Starting with the case of vigilant to Haiti. On March 27th, 2022, police officers were dispatched with an arrest warrant for a man reported to have engaged in improper relations with minors. On arrival at his residence, officer Jerry realized that the suspect was actually his friend. Sorry, [ __ ] Can they be in front of me? Can I Can the handcuffs be in front of me? We'll see. But usually, no. We We'll I'll do what I can. I'm doing everything I can to make you comfortable. Set of these. Give me Give me a second. I got I got something that that might work. You want to walk over to? Yeah, let's walk over here. Give Go ahead and Here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Take them off. Take them off. that you come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. Come here. With his friend arresting him, Vigilant became emotional very quickly, causing Jerry to comfort him. Almost immediately, Jerry found himself in an equally uncomfortable position and was more than happy to get on with the arrest. But Vigilant's emotions didn't allow for that. Come over here to my car. Go over here to my car. Stand out in the middle of the road. I'll grab All right. Just stand still for a second. Hang on. One second. Hang on. One second. [Music] Hey, do you have any type of anxiety or anything like that? No. Okay. Come here. I got my phone in my We got my pocket. We got your phone. I have my keys in my pocket. Officer Jerry was trying to be nice, but soon he realized his support is rather counterproductive. The second police officer at the scene had to step up to assert authority and make sure Vigilant is aware that he can't expect any special treatment from them. You're not handcuffed right now. I want you to remain calm and be cool. Okay? There's an outstanding warrant issued for your arrest. It's out of Lake County. Okay? So, your beef is not with us. Okay? I understand Sergeant House and you have a relationship. Okay? Okay, we want to maintain professionalism and respect, okay? But we still have a job for you, okay? So, what we're going to do is we're going to get you secured. We're going to confirm the warrant, okay? And we'll provide all the information with you, okay? And we will be, like I said, cordial, respectful, and mindful, okay? If you feel like you're going to pass out or if things are going to become too overwhelming for you, you need to relay that to me, okay? because your wellbeing at the end of the day is still a priority. I will make sure that we get you evaluated so nothing uh escalates from there. Okay? But if you take a look, everyone else here is being chill. Okay? So, we're not saying you are. What I'm what makes me concerned was your reaction. Okay? I don't want you to have a panic attack. Okay? That's what I don't want because stress is very very powerful. I don't want to see that happen. Seeing that Vigiland was on the soft side, the cops used that to their advantage, mentioning their concern for him and even allowing him to talk to his wife. This seemed enough to get the job done as things were going smoothly until the cops informed Vigilant they would take his phone for investigative purposes. He once again became defensive and even asked for an attorney. But this time, Jerry wasn't having it. Here's what's going to happen. Your attorney can't tell us not to seize your phone if they if they feel like if So, I don't know the case. So, I'm just giving you very general information here, okay? If the detective or the the police officer, whoever got this warrant, if they can show to a judge that they have probable cause that there is evidence on your phone of a crime, either this one or or another one, whatever, then they can petition that judge for a search warrant. If that judge grants a search warrant, then they can go through your phone and your attorney can't stop them because they'll be given a search warrant by the by a judge. After a lecture on how warrants worked, Vigil looked defeated and because they didn't want another emotional outburst, the cops let him speak to his wife one more time before they took him to the police department. But that didn't get them their intended result. [Applause] Once he finished sobbing, Vigil was cuffed and taken to the squad car. With this, Jerry thought his emotional support role to Vigilant was over, but he couldn't have been more wrong. If you want to just lay back, I'm I'm okay with that cuz I don't know that you're going to be able to spin your feet in there. Okay. Tell me Tell me what you need. Tell me what you need. Tell me what you need. And it just pinched. Okay. I couldn't look back. What do you need me to do? Oh, I'm trying to I was trying to slide back. I can't get my hands back in. You got the Oh, here. I can push you back. Step right there. There you go. That's as far as the ball can go over here. All right. Can you get in there? Can you spin around? It's going to be It's going to be tight. You have to get comfortable however you can. You don't have to spin around if you can't. Sir, can you loosen the bell right there? Can you get your foot? There's more room up in here. If you can get your foot in there. There you go. Here. Let's do Let's do this. Pull your feet back out. Just go ahead and lay back. Is that Is that going to be better? You can literally put your feet up here. Are you good? Are you good there? Okay. Are you all right? No. I mean, are you sitting okay? Vigilant pleaded guilty to coercing a minor victim to produce sexually explicit content after nude images and videos of a minor were found in his phone. He was sentenced to 29 years in prison and was also registered as a sex offender for life. But if you thought Vigilant received special treatment, wait until you hear about Corporal Scott Birdsick. I'm not going to touch you. I know. I'm sorry. On January 1st, 2021, officer Shudderly was called to a car crash in Gainesville, Florida. To her surprise, she immediately recognized Corporal Scott Berdsick as involved. Bertsick, or Birdie, as she called him, was reaching down for his lighter when he crashed into Tevin Gardner's vehicle that had just started to move at a green traffic light. Birdie was obviously slurring his words and struggled with every move you can imagine. But don't get fooled. If you thought he'd be immediately investigated for DUI, you'd be dead wrong. That sucks. Please, Neil's off. You can come give you a ride. Just godamn repaired. Do you want me to let him know you found the insurance? Same [ __ ] thing. Well, maybe you should not do that then. After a brief small talk with the old friend, officer Shudderly proceeds to talk to Tevin Gardner, the man whose car Birdie crashed into, and suddenly her bubbly personality disappears. Maybe she didn't appreciate his outfit choice. Or maybe there was another reason. So, a couple things. One, do you mind giving me like a couple feet? One, cuz I like personal space. And two, cuz cigarette smoke really it tears me up a little bit. We don't take pictures of it cuz crashes are civil. Yeah. Whenever we do any kind of crash reports or anything, unless there's a DUI involved or, you know, like a hit and run or something, a criminal aspect, we don't usually take photos. Are they still in it or no? Yeah, he's still in it. Is he really? So, Birdie, you you giving me some indicators? Oh, listen. Listen, woman. Listen. Valdez is coming out just to I'm not gonna lie to you about it. She's on her way. Yeah, she's on her way. Cuz I I'm not I'm not really comfortable with this whole thing at all. Officer Shudderly called for her supervisor to make sure there's no conflict of interest. Seemingly, it's the right thing to do. But let's not forget she just refused to take photos of the damaged vehicle unless there's DUI involved. Unless there's a DUI involved, we don't usually take photos. This was all part of officer Shudderly's master plan. She tried to get the victim out of the scene as fast as possible to protect her boss from higher charges from the victim. Birdie even takes it a step further and asks whether her body cam is turned on. Are you on? Yes. Yes, I am. And I'm going to remain on cuz I integrity. Shortly after, the supervisor, Officer Valdez, arrives at the scene. But instead of her drunk boss, she's more concerned about the victim being present at the parking lot. He was still in the car. He's free to go. Yeah, he's done. Okay. Is he just hanging out to hang out? Cuz his car's all jacked up on the back. Oh, so we have him to What is he doing exactly? I guess. Um I think his sister is coming to pick him up. I'm going to check on these cuz they're bothering me. That makes sense. Gardner has a valid reason to stay at the location, so they are forced to proceed with the field. sobriety test in front of the victim. Given Bird's state, it is safe to say that it was just a formality. 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 You know, I don't mind. I can't [ __ ] do I can't demonstrate. Yeah, I don't have the [ __ ] balance to demonstrate. 10 11 [Music] 12 13 14 [ __ ] perfect. [Music] If you've watched some of our other videos, you might be used to seeing suspects getting immediately put into handcuffs, but not in this case. Birdie is getting the special treatment. So, at this time, I'm asking you to come with me to the station to provide a breath sample. before. Not only Birdie is being consled, officer Shudderly even turns off the body cam to talk to him in private. We will never know what has been said during their talk on the curb, but the officer and Birdie must have seriously bonded. I know. I'm sorry. Here's what we got. This is game. You're going to ride with me. No, no. There's things that we can do to fix this. I just [ __ ] my kids, my family, [ __ ] everything. I'm sorry. You're fine. No, absolutely. I'm sorry. No, you're No, you're not these people. It's fine. Look, you we already know what the game plan is. Look, you we already know what the game plan is. I'm not going to tell you. No. Yes, you are. Cuz they're watching. No. Yes, you are. They're watching. Okay. We'll we'll have you over by my car. Yes, he will. Yes. Yes. Can I uncuff you now? After arriving at the police station, Birdie gets uncuffed and receives another hug. Whatever the game plan is, Birdie is not leaving scot-free. However, the following conversation is the prime example why body cams are so important. I'm still gone. I can't do fs. Listen, if you blow and you're good, then we're golden. Yeah. You know, I can't do that. Damn it. I can't demonstrate that he's so proud and so sorry all at the same time. You're going to make me cry. Birdie provided two breath samples showing double the legal alcohol limit despite being cited for the crash at 1:30 a.m. His DUI arrest didn't occur until 5:15 a.m. No clear explanation was provided. After admitting to drinking Bardi and Diet Coke post Miranda, Birdie pleaded no contest to a DUI misdemeanor, receiving a $1,000 fine, 50 hours of community service, substance abuse and DUI classes, and a six-month license suspension. He was sued by Tevin Gardner and settled. Currently, Birdie holds his position in the Gainesville Police Department, but without active police powers, assigned to administrative duties post arrest. You can't get a driver's license in the state of Florida, dude. That's how bad it is. On September 14th, 2022, Deputy Michael pulled over a truck driven by a man named Buck Preston with a suspended license. Buck was Michael's good friend, but that wasn't going to prevent him from doing his job. Please, I got you. No, no, no. Listen to me. No, please just listen. Sheriff sent me. The sheriff. Sheriff, captain. I mean, they've seen you driving. We got to get you. Listen, son. I'm I'm I'm telling you. I'm just trying to tell you something. Listen, if you're listening, listen to me. The mother the the the person that was driving this truck just dropped down the [ __ ] over there on goddamn late morality and goddamn I have no other way to get it here, buddy. I swear to God, I would I'm not going to drive it no more. I promise. I got to. God damn, Michael. I Please. After composing a rather desperate story, it was no surprise that Michael didn't believe him. But Buck was hellbent on escaping being booked and he decided to use his friendship with Michael as an emotional weapon. Okay, if your mama comes around the corner and hits that [ __ ] boat or truck, I'm going to feel like a piece of [ __ ] You know what I'm saying? I get it. But man, you still can't drive, bro. Pull it off the road and wait till someone has a valid license. I'm back. Yeah, I just been trying to do the right thing, bro. I I mean, I I didn't I swear to God on my kids' life, I wouldn't trying to do I mean, I was trying to do nothing. What? Let's go. That's crazy, dude. Would you tell him that? Let's go, Buck. Buck, I'm not playing this game. Buck tried to guilt Michael, but he wasn't falling for it. He seemed to know all of Buck's antics, and considering he had been arrested several times before. Michael had come to expect such tactics from him. But what happened next was something Michael could never have expected. What do you mean? I'm telling you the truth. Nobody jumped out. Damn it. Overdriving, dog. You could have just gone and got I'm trying to tell you something. Ain't nobody jumped out. Buck again. Kevin, did they not stay out of this Kevin? Did they not? Kevin, back on. Kevin, you stay out of this. Did they not jump out? Buck's miserable attempt at running from the deputy ended almost immediately after it began with Buck pinned to the ground and even tased till he stopped resisting the officers. He was eventually put in cuffs, but Michael was greatly disappointed in his friend. Brad, listen. I'm trying to take the truth. Nicest officers. You ain't got to run for me. Listen, did you listen? Would you stop for a minute? I ain't listening to you. Ain't nobody jumped out that vehicle. Buck was put in the car for transit to the jail for further processing. And on their way there, he wanted Michael to know that it wasn't just business, but it had become personal as well. Under this, I don't talk to you about your mama in this. This is I don't give a [ __ ] if you talk to me about my mom or not. Just leave my family out of this dog. I'm saying all I'm saying is this, would she be proud of you for sticking that [ __ ] taser to me when I was at home? I mean, like I was not even resisting when you got done. You were resisting. The [ __ ] I was you had me? Yeah. Yeah, that's why we had each other in headlocks. Whatever. Wow. You can ask it. You can report it and say, "I've used too much force if you want." No, that ain't nothing to do with it. It won't bother me. Cussing at me. She's going to be real proud of that. A Oh, yeah. That's a real Christian thing to do, wasn't it? Huh? Look, Buck. Yeah. Stop bringing my mom into my car. Real proud, too, huh? Buck could face charges of driving without a license, resisting arrest, and fleeing to elude an officer. Buck begged Michael to let him go. A stark contrast to Petra Urkinson, who used a badge and gun to demand favors, even though she wasn't a cop. A police officer, you're not a police officer. On August 29th, 2019, Officer Smith stopped two women in a car for faulty brake lights. But there was something about Pekra that the officer found strangely familiar. Uh, reason I stopped you is your right brake light is out. Who do you work for? So, did you stop me because my right brake light is out? Yeah. Or did you stop me to ask you who I was? I'm asking you both. DCS. What? DCS. DCS. What's DCS? You don't know what? Department of Children's Services. Okay. So, if you stop from my right side, then we can address. Okay. Okay. Is your license then? While Petra's occupation seemed irrelevant in a faulty brake light stop, officer Smith had valid reason behind the question. Before the stop, Petra had gotten into a convenience store with a gun and a police badge where she was given free food with the idea that she was a police officer. But Officer Smith hadn't seen her before, and so he wanted to know if she was truly a friend or a foe. All right, look, long story short, I just want to know who you work for. Okay? And and that's the issue. Why do you want to know who I work for? Because I've never seen you around here before. You're not a police officer that works here. You don't know who I am. You said you never seen me. Right. So, are you a police officer or you not a police officer? So, because a black person walks into a store with a badge and a gun is an issue. That has nothing to do with you being black. Has nothing to do with you being black. Because you never seen me before. I I don't recognize you. What they got to do with me and where I work? Are you a police officer or you're not a police officer? I'm not a police officer. You're not a police officer? No. So, why would you go into Quick Trip and get free food with your badge and gun? Because I'm an officer. You don't have to be a police officer to go in there. I've been doing it for 30 years. Petra wasn't a police officer, but she was an officer. And as crazy as that sounds, she was right. Petra was a former officer for the Department of Community Supervision. And the gun and badge didn't belong to her, but to the lady in the passenger seat, who was still an active worker in the department. So, Petra appeared as an officer for free food. And apart from a possible impersonation charge, she managed to secure a call to DCS for not only herself but her friend as well. I have one of your employees here, Brandy Green. Um, she was with her friend, uh, Petra Edertton. They decided that they were Brandy decided that she was going to give Petra her badge and her gun to go into Quick Trip and get some food. So I pulled them over for a broken tail light. Petra was driving. She had the badge on and the gun on. When I pulled them over, she identified herself as a DCS officer and then later admitted to not being a DCS officer. And your employee, Brandy Green, admitted to giving her the gun and the bads to go into Quick Trip to get the free food. Petra was charged with felony impersonating an officer. And after the call, an internal investigation was initiated and the active officer was immediately suspended. But that was after she resigned from her role at DCS on the same day.
