Hey everybody, this is Officer Wisnet, Coral Springs Police Department traffic unit. It's been a few years, but I'm back in action now for traffic Thursdays, trying to give you guys something a little different by doing enforcement on the motorcycle. Riding a motorcycle has inherent dangers whenever we're operating the motorcycle within the city of Coral Springs. Unfortunately, after shooting this week's traffic Thursday, we learned of the passing of Officer Cahuso with the Miami Beach Police Department while operating his police motorcycle. Please, when you're driving around the city of Coral Springs, keep an eye out for our motorcycles and everybody's motorcycles so we can make sure that the roadway stays safe. The men and women with the Coral Springs Police Department send our utmost condolences to the City of Miami Beach Police Department on their loss. My location. butter five copy of 50 5,000 See for tag white Volkswager [screaming] Whisnick Coral Springs Police Department. Stops audio and video recorded. The reason why I stopped you was on University Drive when you were northbound. You're doing 60 m hour. This only a 40 mph zone. University Drive. Do you have your driver's license on you this morning? >> Yes. And um the other cars were going faster than me. Number one. Number two, I did a UI and I was just trying to like speed up to like not catch the traffic. >> Okay. You have your driver's license on you? I do. >> All right. Yeah. So, none of the other cars are going faster than you. Okay. You're passing. You're in the center lane changing into the lefth hand lane. All right. Speeding up. So, you're going faster than the other vehicles. Nobody else is doing 60 mph. >> No, the other cars were going faster than me. >> Okay. The other person was going faster than you once you passed my location cuz you saw me and slowed down. When you were south of me, did you see where I was sitting on the side of the road? >> I saw you. Yeah. >> Okay. All right. So, before that, you're doing 60 mph. >> Okay. >> I had gotten out of North North Springs. >> Is there any reason why you're speeding this morning or you running late? >> No. My kids going to school 8:30. I was just trying to not catch the all the traffic from the red light. >> Okay. Is the car registered to you? >> Yes, sir. >> It is. All right. No problem. Let me just check your license real quick. All right. So, um basically like I was explaining to her, um she's in the center lane going northbound on University Drive. I see her fastly approaching the other vehicles. She's doing 60 mph on uh laser. She uh changed lanes in lefth hand lanes into the lefth hand lane and then uh she must have saw me because she did slow down and then you know that's why she's saying oh the other car was going faster than me. Well, it was passing her once she slowed down. So u but she was going faster than any other vehicles is pretty obvious. Everybody else is running around the speed limit a little faster. Usually people are moving around 45. She's doing um 60. So it's it's pretty obvious that she's passing people. So um conducted the stop on her here. The car is registered to her. She does have a valid driver's license. Um, it's 20 miles an hour the speed limit. So, I I will be issuing her a citation today. >> All right, ma'am. Here's your license back. I issue a citation for the speed. It's a moving violation. >> Fine. >> I'm I'm sorry. What was that? You're doing 55? >> Yeah. >> 55 would still be 15 miles an hour of the speed limit. >> I understand. >> The speed limit is 40. Okay. >> Just trying to catch up. >> Okay. Gotcha. >> And the other car was actually going there was a BMW going faster than me. >> You can't. He was going faster than you after you slowed down. >> I didn't. He was going faster than me. >> Okay, I'm not going to argue with you about who's going faster. It doesn't matter who's going faster. You're doing 60 m hour. It's a 40 mph zone. >> The other car me. Wasn't he faster? >> You got a citation. >> I see that. But why didn't you pull over the other car? >> Okay. Have a nice day. Okay. 57 miles an hour. Oh my god. Copy 50 5000 University. >> Good morning. I'm Officer West Co Springs Police Department. Stops audio and video recorded. The reason why I'm stopping this morning is you're traveling 57 miles an hour. This is a 40 mph zone University Drive. Do you have your driver's license on you? >> I'm I'm sorry, I can't hear you. >> Are you sure you say 57? >> Yes. 57 milesPH. You're passing traffic in the right hand lane. Yep. Is the vehicle registered to you? Who's the vehicle registered to? To your dad. >> Okay. Do you have the registration with you? >> All right. Is there any reason for the speed this morning? >> I promise you. I >> Where are you heading to? I'm taking it home. >> You're not going anywhere. >> I'm heading home. >> You're heading to work. Okay. You don't have to cry. It's just a traffic stop. It's not that big of a deal. All right. Hang on to that for me. All right. Let me let me just check your license status. Okay. All right. So, doing some stationary traffic enforcement up here in the 5,000 block university. Um, ever since they completed this construction, they went from two lanes to three lanes. people have been um exceeding the speed limit quite a bit up through here. It's only 40 miles an hour. Um hasn't changed since they made it three lanes. So, uh we get a lot of people passing traffic and doing um you know, dangerous passing as well. PE people passing in the right hand lane. Um and then as they speed up to the light here at West View, the lane actually ends. So, it's a turn lane. So, we have people that are speeding up around the righth hand lane trying to cut back into traffic and uh causing some issues there. Uh we do get a lot of complaints uh as of lately from the residents that live in the area uh talking about the vehicles, you know, traveling um up University Drive exceeding the speed limit in the morning time especially. Um seems like when people are late to work, they hit the gas pedal. So um we've been out here doing the enforcement for it. Um I've caught people out here doing 70 m hour. Um I caught somebody last week doing, you know, 65 miles an hour up through here. So it's uh very dangerous speeds. Let's see here. So, vehicle is registered to her father. She said she's on her way to work. Um, no real reason for the speed. Tagging the vehicle is good. And checking her driver's license right now. It is good as well. All right. Uh, like I said, she's doing uh 57 milesPH. She's passing traffic in the right hand lane. Um, 17 mph the speed limit. And I will be issuing her a citation today. License back. Okay. I issued a citation for the speed. It's a moving violation. So, you do have four options. The options are listed in that pink mailer. So, just read through that. It'll tell you how to take care of the next 30 days. Okay. All right. Okay, just slow it down next time. Okay. All righty. You have any other questions for me? All right. You don't have to be so upset. It's just a citation. All right. It's not going to affect you that bad. It doesn't look like you had a citation in the last year. So, if you haven't and uh because you get points on that if you do the online school, you won't get any points. Okay? So, just make sure you look into that. The information is in that pink mailer. Okay. All right. Drive safe. Hey, are you okay to drive? >> You all right? Okay. Just be careful pulling back. I was just going to tell you if if you wanted to wait, you know, pull in the parking lot. But if you're ready to go, then just be careful pulling back out. Okay. It's time for motor five. Copy 51 300 block miles. >> Good morning. I'm officer. What's that? No pakito. >> So okay in zona esquea. Okay. >> Yeah. You're doing >> you you're doing 30. The speed limit is 15. Okay. Do you have a chauffeur? >> Okay. >> Mhm. Yeah. See is right there. Yeah. >> Um Let's see. Uh, Lenzia registration and siguro. >> Okay. Perfecto. Thank you. Uh, let's see here. >> All right. >> Perfecto. Gracias. Um, okay. No. Hey, lady. Okay. Unto. Okay. I got to check your license. Okay. All right. So, [sighs] we're doing stationary enforcement here in front of uh well, across the street from the main entrance to uh Coral Springs Middle School. Uh she's in the right hand lane. Entered the school zone uh doing 30 miles an hour. Um pretty much maintained that until she passed by us and I stopped her. But, uh, we're just checking her, um, vehicle information, her driver's license, make sure she's valid. So, she's doing 15 miles an hour over the speed limit in the school zone. And, uh, we'll be issuing her a citation today. So, we do get a lot of people that say, "Oh, I didn't realize it was a school zone, but it's like, do you normally drive 30 mph in a 45 mph zone, or did you know there was a school zone? You just didn't want to slow down to 15 cuz 15 mph is very slow." But the reason why we have that speed is because there's a lot of children out here moving in and around the school going, you know, uh to the school from uh the park, which is where I was sitting, they uh a lot of the parents park in the park and the kids walk over uh to the school. So, you know, we want to have people driving as slow as possible just in case one of these kids darts out in the road in front of them, they'll be able to stop. Uh because if they're doing 45, that's going to be probably a hard no. But if you're doing 15 like you're supposed to be doing, it should be easy for you to stop right here in espanol. Okay. >> Go. Yeah. See, you're doing right here. You're doing 30. The speed limit is 15. So this is Yes. See? Yeah. Right here. 30 and 15 because of the because the asquea >> it's 15. Okay. This is information. Okay. >> There you go. >> Okay. >> Good. Oh, it's it's inside here. >> Okay. >> All right. Drive safe. Okay. Woo! Heat! audio and video recorded. So, the reason why I stopped you is back here at University and uh Wilds. That's a red arrow for the right-hand turn. All right? So, you can only turn on that if it's green or if you come to a complete stop and then make the right hand turn. You slowed and just rolled the turn. Okay. You have to come to a complete stop. >> Spanish the the turn the arrow, you know, arrow like this. The arrow. >> Yes. >> Okay. It's rojo. Okay. So, it's red. You have to stop and then turn. >> Your window is yellow. Yellow. >> Gotcha. No rojo when you turned it has to be you have to stop then turn uh chauffeuro it's yours >> okay >> okay okay all right let let me check this real quick okay uh so like I was explaining when they had redone the construction work redone the intersection there at wild university they added um a signal arrow to the right-hand turn lanes so what that means now is when you approach Coach Wilds and University from either direction, any direction. Uh when you approach that light, there is an arrow. So if that arrow is green, then you just make the right hand turn. No problem. You don't have to stop. If that arrow is red, you must first come to a complete stop and then make the right hand turn cuz they want you to make sure that you're not going to hit a pedestrian. The reason why they did that was for the pedestrians. So when the pedestrians have the right away across the intersections, they want to make sure that people aren't, you know, coming up to these intersections and just looking left for traffic before they make the right. They're looking both directions so they can see if there's uh any pedestrians in the way as well. So um just checking this guy's information. Uh looks like vehicle's good, driver's license is good. Um doesn't look like we have uh any citations on him. So, uh, I am going to give him a warning this time. That is, uh, you know, kind of an uncommon light situation, something new to the city. Uh, so we're still trying to educate people on, um, how that light actually operates so they're not, you know, making a violation there. And, god forbid, getting into an accident with a pedestrian or a bicyclist, which is, uh, something we want to avoid because, uh, the pedestrians and bicyclists uh, they always lose in a crash. that you know the kicker to this if I was writing a citation um it's running a red light so that's an expensive ticket >> okay you go >> okay so this is a warning okay not not a ticket it's a warning okay >> so no pay >> yeah so yeah it's just a >> yes see >> no Okay. >> All right. Drive safe. Okay. >> All right. [laughter] >> Appreciate it. Thank you. >> How you doing, sir? >> Good. How are you? >> Good. I'm officer whistle at Coral Springs Police Department. Stops audio and video recorded. So, the reason why I stopped you is your tag has a decal on it that said it expired in June of 2025. Did you renew the tag and just not put the decal on? >> I did renew the tag. >> Okay. So, the decal is not on it. Like I said, it's the old one. It should should be the 2026 decal. >> Okay. >> Do you have is this your vehicle? >> Yeah, this is under my company name. So, >> your company? Okay. Do you have the registration with you? >> Let me check. >> Yeah, that one expires 2025. >> Back in June. >> All right. Well, how about this? Do you have your driver's license on you? >> All right. Let me check your driver's license. I'll I'll run the tag and see if it's been renewed or not. >> Okay. If not, I can do it on >> Yeah. Mhm. >> Okay. Thank you. Um, actually June. Yeah, I think you're still good. I think it's within 6 months. You can still do it online. All right. So, we're just stopped in because the uh tag has a decal on it that expired in June of 2025. We're going to check the plate right here. He doesn't have the current registration with him. So, he thought that he renewed the tag, but may not have. So, we're going to check. So, it's registered to a business and himself and it is still expired from June. We are going to issue him a citation for it since it's from June. It's been a few months. Should have already been uh been taken care of by now. So, we'll issue him a citation for it. So, he'll go and take care of it and uh and then he will have the option to run it through the court system to see if they'll uh take care of it based on compliance. Doesn't look like he's been issued a citation by us um for an expired tag before anyway. So, and it is still less than 6 months, but uh getting close to it. All right, sir. Here's your license back. All right. So, it is still expired from June. Okay. So, I issued a citation for the expired tag. The vehicle's registered to you and the business. So, um I issued the uh the citation for the expired tag. It's not a moving violation. You don't get any points. What you can do is take care of this within the next 30 days. All right? So, renew the tag. You can show up the closest courthouse to us is going to be the North Satellite Core House in Deerfield Beach. You can show them that you've taken care of the citation. Yep. So, just like I said, just make sure either option take care of it in the next 30 days. All the information is in the Pink on how to do that. >> I did uh I had to go to here. >> Yes. Yeah, you can go there. You don't have to. I mean, you can just pay the ticket, but if you want to, you can go there, show them that you've taken care of it, and they may be able to help you out based on compliance. You know what I mean? Like that you've taken care of it pre-trial, >> okay? >> You know, take care of the citation. So, but yeah, just make sure if you do that option, make sure you actually go in person to the clerk of courts and talk to them. All right? [music]
