No." On May 8th, 2025, sometime after 500 a.m., Highlands County officers dispatched to Ramada in hotel after an unknown person reported a shooting in room 224. That night, 21-year-old Elijah had been spending time with his childhood friends, 18-year-old Jimari, 19-year-old Lenia, and 19year-old Yoshabel. However, when officers arrived during the early hours of the morning, they only found three of the teenagers with Elijah's bloody body in the parking lot of Ramada Inn. The documents, audio, and recordings referenced in this video were obtained through formal freedom of information. Act requests submitted to the relevant law enforcement agency. First aid was rendered to Elijah, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Elijah's friend seemed out of it. They had after all just witnessed the shooting of someone they had known for years. All of them had little knowledge of what had happened, describing the shooting as a random act of violence, even suggesting Elijah had been having issues with others the day before. According to them, a masked man had forced his way into the room and during the struggle that followed shot Elijah multiple times before fleeing. The only possible explanation officers could come up with was robbery. Considering Elijah was well off, however, the scene didn't match the robbery. There was no sign of forced or broken entry. The Ramada Inn had security cameras positioned throughout its exterior hallways, facing the front and back parking lots and covering multiple exterior viewpoints. What they found on that footage was damning. It showed a figure in a hoodie and red Nike gym shorts wearing a ski mask standing outside room 224 before the shooting. He could be seen looking at his phone as if waiting for a signal. Then Lenia exits the room carrying her belongings in a backpack, walks directly past the masked man without hesitation, and leaves. She left the door open behind her. The masked man walked straight through it. 4 seconds later, Yoshabel is seen frantically running from the room. Approximately 60 seconds later, the masked man and Jimari exit the room one after the other in close proximity. They move quickly, heading down the stairs and through the rear parking lot, making their way into the woods just outside the motel. There, a brown Nissan Altea was waiting for them. The masked man jumped into the passenger seat. Jamari opened the rear passenger door and placed something inside before the car drove off. As the suspects fled, Elijah emerged from room 224, holding his side. Despite being shot nine times, he made it to the stairwell and headed toward the rear parking lot. A ground level camera picked him up as he stumbled outside. He went down once, then twice, and then stayed down. The camera also answered one of the biggest questions that had remained in officer's heads. Why did the witnesses not render aid or call 911? In the CCTV camera, officers saw Lenia run past a dying Elijah as she fled the scene. She did not stop to render aid. >> I told Pat, I can't see no more death, man. I can't I can't I don't know. Later that same afternoon, one of the deputies spotted the vehicle parked in a driveway on EA Smith Avenue in Highway Park. 20-year-old Gia Marcus was sitting in the driver's seat with the door open. The moment the officer hit his siren lights, Gia Marcus hit the gas, starting a high-speed chase. Another deputy approaching from the opposite direction had to yank his car off the road to avoid a head-on collision. Jenkins continued to speed before abandoning his vehicle at a property on Turkey Run and fleeing on foot into a large barn on the property. While Gia Marcus was being interrogated, he gave detectives a critical piece of information. His 40-year-old girlfriend, Leticia, had disposed of two guns and cell phones connected to the crime. While the detectives continued interrogating Gaia Marcus, two other detectives immediately headed to the hotel surroundings and searched the dumpsters. Inside, they recovered a trash bag containing two firearms and two broken cell phones. With the murder weapon now recovered and Leticia in custody, detectives had everything they needed. Latarius was located and arrested later that same evening in Sebring on May 9th, less than 48 hours after Elijah was killed. Detectives believe the motive was robbery, triggered in large part by an Instagram post Elijah had made, fanning out $7,000 in $100 bills for his friends and followers to see. What makes this case particularly devastating is who was behind it. Gia Marcus had grown up with Elijah. He had slept and eaten at the Daily family home after losing his mother years earlier. The same was the case for his other childhood friends who had frequently eaten at Elijah's home. In total, six people were charged in connection with Elijah's murder. The four who were in and around the hotel, Lenia, Jamari, Yoshabel, and Latarius, along with Gia Marcus, were all charged with first-degree premeditated murder, robbery with a firearm, and use of a two-way communications device to facilitate a felony. Gia Marcus, whose arrest alone came with additional charges, was also charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure for hiding in the barn on Turkey Run, resisting arrest without violence, aggravated assault on an officer, fleeing to elude, and driving without a license. Leticia, the sixth defendant, was charged with tampering with physical evidence, a secondderee felony. This concludes the report from our investigation division at Twin Scope Cops.
